Piperidinium and Pyrrolidinium Ionic Liquids as Precursors in the Synthesis of New Platinum Catalysts for Hydrosilylation

Exploring the Synthetic and Antioxidant Potential of 1,2-Disubstituted Benzimidazoles Using [Et3NH][HSO4] Ionic Liquid Catalyst

An [Et3NH][HSO4] ionic-liquid catalyzed, intermolecular C-N bond formation for 1,2-disubstituted benzimidazole synthesis was achieved by the reaction of OPD and substituted aldehydes at ambient reaction conditions. Operational simplicity, use of easily available substrate and reagents, good yields (74-95 %) in short reaction time (4-18 min), simple work-up, and column chromatographic free synthesis are the remarkable features of this new protocol. The applicability of [Et3NH][HSO4] ionic-liquid as a green and inexpensive catalyst with good recyclability and compatibility with a broad range of functional group having heteroatom, electron-withdrawing, and electron-releasing groups manifested the sustainability, eco-friendliness, and efficiency of the present methodology. Moreover, the antioxidant studies of the synthesized compounds using DPPH and ABTS assays were appealing and several synthesized compounds showed significant antioxidant activity.

Physiological and biochemical alterations in Vigna rdiate L. triggered by sesame derived elicitors as defense mechanism against Rhizoctonia and Macrophomina infestation

Improving agricultural products by the stimulation of plant growth and defense mechanisms by priming with plant extracts is needed to attain sustainability in agriculture. This study focused to consider the possible improvement in Vigna radiata L. seed germination rate, plant growth, and protection against the natural stress by increasing the defense mechanisms through the incorporation of Sesamum indicum phytochemical compounds with pre-sowing seed treatment technologies. The gas chromatography coupled with mass spectroscopy (GC-MS) analysis revealed that the methanol extract of S. indicum leaf extract contained eight major bioactive compounds, namely, 2-ethylacridine (8.24%), tert-butyl (5-isopropyl-2-methylphenoxy) dimethylsilane (13.25%), tris(tert-butyldimethylsilyloxy) arsane (10.66%), 1,1,1,3,5,5,5-heptamethyltrisiloxane (18.50%), acetamide, N-[4-(trimethylsilyl) phenyl (19.97%), 3,3-diisopropoxy-1,1,1,5,5,5-hexamethyltrisiloxane (6.78%), silicic acid, diethyl bis(trimethylsilyl) ester (17.71%) and cylotrisiloxane, hexamethyl-(4.89%). The V. radiata seeds were treated with sesame leaf extract seeds at concentrations 0, 10, 25, 50, and 100 mg/L. Sesame leaf extract at 50 and 100 mg/L concentrations was effective in increasing the germination percentage and the fresh and dry weights of roots and shoots. The increased peroxidase activity was noticed after treatment with S. indicum extract. In addition, disease percentage (< 60%) of both fungal pathogens (Rhizoctonia and Macrophomina) was significantly reduced in V. radiata plants treated with 100 mg/L of sesame leaf extract. These results revealed that physiochemical components present in S. indicum mature leaf extract significantly enhanced growth and defense mechanism in green gram plants.

SILP Materials as Effective Catalysts in Selective Monofunctionalization of 1,1,3,3-Tetramethyldisiloxane

Functionalized siloxanes are one of the most important classes of organosilicon compounds, thus the enhancement of current methods of its synthesis is an important issue. Herein, we present the selective and highly effective reaction between 1,1,3,3-tetramethyldisiloxane (TMDSO) and 1-octene (1-oct), using SILP (supported ionic liquid phase) materials containing a rhodium catalyst immobilized in three phosphonium ionic liquids (ILs) differing in the structure of cation. Studies have shown high potential for using SILP materials as catalysts due to their high catalytic activity and selectivity, easy separation process, and the possibility of reusing the catalyst in subsequent reaction cycles without adding a new portion of the catalyst. Using the most active SILP material SiO2/[P66614][NTf2]/[{Rh(μ-OSiMe3)(cod)}2] allows for reuse of the catalyst at least 50 times in an efficient and highly selective monofunctionalization of TMDSO.
