Abstract
In recent years, some treatments for esthetic and pathologic skin conditions have increasingly been based on the use of non-ablative neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet (Nd:YAG) laser due to its greater penetration ability than other types of lasers, few contraindications, minimal side effects, no damage for epidermidis and the rapid recovery of the treated patients. The skin is frequently exposed to many stressors such as radiation, toxic substances, metabolites, foods, mechanical insults, and allergen exposition that cause oxidative damage and have a decisive influence on the aging process. The imbalance between reactive oxygen species, reactive nitrogen species, and the malfunctioning of the antioxidant defense system promotes the establishment of an excessive inflammatory process, which can induce various diseases including cancer and neurodegenerative disorders. The present study investigated the cytoprotective function of Q-switched Nd:YAG laser against stress aging and cell injury in HaCaT cells. We evaluated the effect of the laser on antioxidant defenses, inflammation, metalloproteinases' expression, and the AhR-Nrf2 pathway. Q-switched Nd:YAG is able to upregulate the AhR pathway and the expression of IL-6 and TGF-β, which are involved in wound repair process, and to downregulate the expression of MMP-2 and 9, so preventing the collagen degradation. Q-switched Nd:YAG can stimulate the cellular antioxidant defenses by activating the AhR-Nrf2 system.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Extracellular matrix (ECM), a material with tissue repair function, is applied to treat various wounds. However, the role of ECM in facilitating wound healing after facial laser treatment remains elusive. OBJECTIVE To assess the efficacy and safety of ECM in promoting wound healing after picosecond laser therapy (PLT). MATERIALS AND METHODS Eighteen female subjects with benign pigmentation disorders were randomly assigned to the ECM (n = 9) and control groups (n = 9). After PLT, the ECM and control groups were treated with ECM and facial moisturizer in the first 7 days, respectively. The severity of erythema and edema was assessed using photographs. The duration of erythema, edema, scab shedding, postinflammatory hyperpigmentation incidence (PIH), and adverse events was documented in detail. RESULTS Compared with the control group, the ECM group had a shorter duration of erythema, edema, and scab shedding after PLT (p < .01). A significantly decreased severity of erythema (p < .05) and edema (p < .01) was found in the ECM group versus the control group, respectively. The PIH incidence in the ECM group was lower than in controls, albeit without statistical significance. No serious adverse events were observed during the follow-up. CONCLUSION Extracellular matrix is an effective and safe dressing for promoting wound healing after PLT.

Abstract
A thorough knowledge of non-surgical procedures (laser, peelings, injections, threads) and surgical procedures (combined surgeries and skin grafts), including contraindications and potential risks and side effects, (e.g. infection, hypopigmentation, hyperpigmentation, and scarring) is essential to be able to reduce their incidence and ensure the patient receives the most benefit from the procedure. Individuals with darker skin and of high Fitzpatrick phototype are at higher risk of dyschromias, notably melasma and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, which may be treated using aesthetic procedures but may also arise as a complication of some procedures. A group of experts in cosmetic surgery and dermatology reviewed the published literature and discussed recommendations for optimizing outcomes with practical advice on supportive skincare before, during and after non-surgical or surgical procedures. A broad-spectrum sunscreen with a high sun protection factor against UVB and high protection against UVA, especially long UVA, is essential for all treatment modalities for the prevention and potential improvement of pigmentation disorders. Supportive skin care management to prepare, cleanse and protect the skin and post-procedure skin care with healing and anti-inflammatory ingredients are recommended to speed up regeneration and wound healing whilst minimizing scarring and downtime. Additionally, adjunctive skin care to procedures with antioxidant, anti-ageing and lightening properties may enhance skin benefits.

Abstract
Purpose Esthetic medicine is a rapidly developing field of medicine that is not only beneficial in terms of external appearance, but also significantly improves overall quality of life. Currently, pigmented and vascular skin lesions are more prevalent due to multiple environmental factors and are a characteristic manifestation of skin aging. The development of modern laser therapy has contributed to the successful management of multiple skin conditions. The aim of our study was to show the effect of concomitant reduction of both vascular and hyperpigmented skin lesions located on the facial area after repetitive 532 nm laser therapy and to emphasize that the detection of such observation was possible due to the implementation of System of Skin Analysis and Assessment. Patients and Methods We retrospectively analyzed 100 patients' records with "VISIA" Skin Analysis System after 532nm laser therapy. Results Laser therapy significantly decreased VISIA scores for all tested lesions, ie, macules, pigmented and vascular lesions (p<0.0001 for all). The efficacy of laser treatment was not significantly different regarding skin phototype (p>0.05) and did not correlate with age of participants (p>0.05). The more laser sessions were performed, the higher improvement in vascular lesion VISIA scores was observed (r=0.26, p=0.0097). Conclusion 532 nm laser therapy is effective regarding vascular and hyperpigmented skin lesions located on the facial area. The System of Skin Analysis and Assessment is a good tool to test the treatment efficacy during regular follow-up procedure.
