Abstract
Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has been associated with a diverse range of extrapulmonary manifestations since its global outbreak in 2019. One of its rare complications is Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS), a post-infectious neurological disorder that manifests with a characteristic ascending limb paralysis. Here, we describe the atypical case of a 42-year-old African American male who developed bilateral facial paralysis within five weeks of testing positive for COVID-19. Initial diagnostic imaging and blood studies were negative for acute pathology. Albuminocytological dissociation found in a subsequent analysis of the patient's cerebrospinal fluid and his appropriate therapeutic response to intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIg) indicated GBS as the most likely diagnosis.

Abstract
Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) was identified as the pathogen responsible for the pandemic health emergency declared by the World Health Organization in March 2020. During the first part of the pandemic, adults showed mild to severe respiratory symptoms. Children seemed initially exempt, both from acute and subsequent complications. Hyposmia or anosmia were promptly identified as the main symptoms of acute infection, so neurotropism of SARS-CoV-2 was immediately suspected. (1, 2). As the emergency progressed, post infectious neurological complications were described also in pediatric population (3). Cases of cranial neuropathy in connection with acute SARS-CoV-2 infection have been reported in pediatric patients, as an isolate post infectious complication or in the context of the multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) (4-6). Neuroinflammation is thought to be caused by several mechanisms, among which immune/autoimmune reactions (7), but so far, no specific autoantibody has been identified. SARS-CoV-2 can enter the central nervous system (CNS) directly and/or infect it retrogradely, through the peripheral nervous system (PNS), after replicating peripherally; several factors regulate invasion and subsequent neuroinflammation. Indeed, direct/secondary entry and replication can activate CNS-resident immune cells that, together with peripheral leukocytes, induce an immune response and promote neuroinflammation. In addition, as we will discuss in the following review, many cases of peripheral neuropathy (cranial and non-cranial) have been reported during or after SARS-CoV-2 infection. However, some authors have pointed out that the increase of cranial roots and ganglia in neurological imaging is not always observed in children with cranial neuropathy. (8). Even if a variety of case reports were published, opinions about an increased incidence of such neurologic diseases, linked to SARS-CoV-2 infection, are still controversial (9-11). Facial nerve palsy, ocular movements abnormalities and vestibular alterations are among the most reported issues in pediatric population (3-5). Moreover, an increased screen exposure imposed by social distancing led to acute oculomotion's disturbance in children, not primarily caused by neuritis (12, 13). The aim of this review is to suggest food for thought on the role of SARS-CoV-2 in neurological conditions, affecting the peripheral nervous system to optimize the management and care of pediatric patients.

Abstract
Neurologic complications of SARS-CoV-2 infection have been reported commonly. Peripheric facial nerve palsy is one of the most reported neurologic problems. However, idiopathic bilateral facial palsy is a very rare complication of SARS-CoV-2 infection. Herein, we present a case of a COVID-19 35-year-old man, which developed bilateral facial palsy.

Abstract
Despite the advantages of getting access to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccines, their potential ability to induce severe adverse events (AEs) has been a significant concern. Neurological complications are significant among the various adverse events following immunization (AEFI) due to their likely durability and debilitating sequelae. Neurological AEs following COVID-19 vaccination can either exacerbate or induce new-onset neuro-immunologic diseases, such as myasthenia gravis (MG) and Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS). The more severe spectrum of AEs post-COVID19 vaccines has included seizures, reactivation of the varicella-zoster virus, strokes, GBS, Bell's palsy, transverse myelitis (TM), and acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM). Here, we discuss each of these neurological adverse effects separately.

Abstract
There is insufficient evidence on SARS-CoV-2 induced neurological effects. Studies on CNS involvement during COVID-19 in children are limited. This study aims to identify and manage the neurological signs and symptoms in COVID-19-infected pediatric patients during follow up and plan future follow-ups. Children diagnosed COVID-19 and hospitalized in the pediatric pandemic services, between March 18, 2020, and June 18, 2021, were included in the study. Children with underlying neurological disease were excluded from the study. Patient data retrieved from hospital files and medical records. Children divided into 2 groups, 1 and 2, based on the presence or absence of neurological findings. A total of 243 children received follow-ups in the pandemic wards, 35 (14.4%) of these patients had neurological findings. Major neurological manifestations were headache (n:17, 7%), seizure (n:4, 1.6%), and anosmia/hyposmia (n:17, 7%). The number of boys (n:13, 37.1%) was smaller than the number of girls (n:22, 62.9%) in Group 1. Group 1 showed higher blood leukocyte, lymphocyte, thrombocyte, AST, LDH, d-dimer values. Anosmia/hyposmia occurred more often in girls, anosmia and headache occurred more often over 9 years of age. Pulmonary and hematologic involvement was more common in children with anosmia and headache. Our study is one of the few studies on neurological involvement in COVID-19 in children. To the best of our knowledge, there is limited data on these subjects in the literature.

Abstract
Background The etiology of facial nerve palsy is diverse and includes herpes zoster virus, Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS), otitis media, Lyme disease, sarcoidosis, human immunodeficiency virus, etc. The lower motor neuron type facial nerve palsy is usually caused by an ipsilateral facial nerve lesion; however, it may be caused by a central lesion of the facial nerve nucleus and tract in the pons. Facial diplegia is an extremely rare condition that occurs in approximately 0.3% to 2.0% of all facial palsies. Electrodiagnostic studies including direct facial nerve conduction, facial electromyography (EMG), and blink reflex studies are useful for the prognosis and lesion localization in facial nerve palsy. Methodology This retrospective, observational study was conducted at the Neurophysiology Unit, Hamad General Hospital, Doha, Qatar. This study included 11 patients with bilateral facial weakness who visited for electrodiagnostic studies in the neurophysiology laboratory. Results In total, eight (72.7%) patients had facial diplegia, eight (72.7%) had hypo/areflexia, seven (63.6%) had facial numbness, and five (45.5%) had cerebrospinal fluid albuminocytological dissociation. The most frequent cause of facial diplegia in this study was GBS (81.9%). Direct facial nerve conduction stimulation showed that nine (81.8%) patients had bilateral facial nerve low compound muscle action potential amplitudes. The bilateral blink reflex study showed that eight (88.8%) patients had absent bilateral evoked responses. Finally, the EMG study showed that five (55.5%) patients had active denervation in bilateral sample facial muscles. Conclusions Bilateral facial nerve palsy is an extremely rare condition with a varied etiology. Electrodiagnostic studies are useful in detecting the underlying pathophysiologic processes, prognosis, and central or peripheral lesion localization in patients with facial diplegia.

Abstract
As the COVID-19 pandemic progresses, reports of neurological manifestations are increasing. However, despite a high number of case reports and case series on COVID-19 and Guillain-Barré-Syndrome (GBS), a causal association is still highly debated, due to the lack of case-control studies. In this opinion paper, we focus on a few clinically relevant questions regarding the possible link between GBS and SARS-CoV-2 infection or vaccination based on our personal clinical experience and literature review.
