Abstract
BACKGROUND Hepatic alveolar echinococcosis (HAE) is a chronic parasitic disease caused by the larval stage of Echinococcus multilocularis. Although significant research has been conducted on the pathogenesis and immunological aspects of HAE, comprehensive bibliometric analyses in this area are still lacking. This study sought to fill this gap by systematically analyzing the immunological literature on HAE using bibliometric methods.
AIM To identify research trends, key contributors, and emerging developments and offer insights to guide future research in this field.
METHODS Research articles on HAE published between 1983 and 2023 were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection database. A total of 319 articles were selected for bibliometric analysis, which was conducted using the CiteSpace and VOSviewer software. The analysis focused on key variables such as publication volume, authors, journals, countries, references, and keywords.
RESULTS The analysis revealed a significant increase in research on HAE over the past four decades, particularly after 1995. China and Switzerland emerged as the leading countries in terms of publication volume, with Bruno Gottstein and Vuitton DA identified as the most influential authors in this field. Key research areas include the interaction between the pathogen and the host immune system, as well as advances in disease diagnosis and treatment strategies. The keyword co-occurrence analysis highlighted the primary themes and identified emerging trends within the research landscape.
CONCLUSION This study provides a comprehensive framework for understanding HAE immunology and highlights research hotspots, future directions, key contributors, and the importance of international cooperation.

Abstract
Objectives Sepsis-associated acute kidney injury (SA-AKI) commonly occurs in critically ill patients and is closely associated with adverse outcomes. A comprehensive analysis of the current research landscape in SA-AKI can help uncover trends and key issues in this field. This study aims to provide a scientific basis for research directions and critical issues through bibliometric analysis. Methods We searched all articles on SA-AKI indexed in the SCI-Expanded of WoSCC up to May 7, 2024, and conducted bibliometric and visual analyses using bibliometric software CiteSpace and VOSviewer. Results Over the past 20 years, there has been a steady increase in literature related to renal repair following AKI. China and the United States contribute over 60% of the publications, driving research in this field. The University of Pittsburgh is the most active academic institution, producing the highest number of publications. J. A. Kellum is both the most prolific and the most cited author in this area. "Shock" and "American Journal of Physiology-Renal Physiology" are the most popular journals, publishing the highest number of articles. Recent high-frequency keywords in this field include "septic AKI," "mitochondrial dysfunction," "inflammasome," "ferroptosis," and "macrophage." The terms "mitochondrial dysfunction," "inflammasome," "ferroptosis," and "macrophage" represent current research hotspots and potential targets in this area. Conclusion This is the first comprehensive bibliometric study to summarize the trends and advancements in SA-AKI research in recent years. These findings identify current research frontiers and hot topics, providing valuable insights for scholars studying SA-AKI.

Abstract
Background Extracellular vesicles (EVs) have garnered significant attention in Alzheimer's disease (AD) research over the past decade, largely due to their potential in diagnostics and therapeutics. Although the investigation of EVs in AD is a relatively recent endeavor, a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of this rapidly growing field has yet to be conducted. Methods This study aims to elucidate and synthesize the relationship between EVs and AD, offering critical insights to guide future research and expand therapeutic possibilities. Over the past 10-15 years, substantial progress has been made in this domain. Through bibliometric techniques, this analysis assesses research performance by examining scientific publications and metrics, including productivity indicators, impact measurements, data mining, and visualization tools. Results A total of 602 publications were analyzed using various online platforms for bibliometric analysis. Notably, the number of publications began to increase rapidly in 2018, with China and the United States emerging as leaders in this research area. The National Institute on Aging produced the highest number of publications among institutions. The Journal of Molecular Sciences and the Journal of Biological Chemistry were the most prolific and most frequently cited journals, respectively. Among individual contributors, Dimitrios Kapogiannis was identified as the most productive author, while Edward J. Goetzl was the most co-cited. The most prevalent keywords included "neurodegenerative diseases," "exosomes," "blood biomarkers," "amyloid beta," "microglia," and "tau protein." Current research hotspots involve microRNA dysregulation, oxidative stress, carboxyl-terminal fragments, small EVs, and mesenchymal stem cell-derived EVs, indicating key areas for future research. Conclusion Research on microRNA dysregulation, oxidative stress, carboxyl-terminal fragments, small EVs, and mesenchymal stem cell-derived EVs represents a critical frontier in the study of Alzheimer's disease. The role of EV-mediated neuroinflammation in AD is a focal point of ongoing investigation and will likely shape future developments in the field.

Abstract
Exosomes have emerged as a crucial focus in advancing the diagnosis and treatment of osteoarthritis (OA). However, there are limited bibliometric studies on this topic. This study aimed to delineate the literature landscape on exosomes in OA, identifying global research trends and key areas. We utilised the Web of Science Core Collection to retrieve articles published from 2004 to 2023. Our analysis included 456 publications across 671 institutions from 40 countries/regions. Publication volume, citations, and emerging research foci and trends were examined. Our results reveal a consistently increased interest in exosomes related to OA over the past two decades. Prominent institutions contributing to this research include Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Shenzhen University. The leading journal for these publications is the International Journal of Molecular Sciences, with Stem Cell Research & Therapy being the most frequently co-cited journal. Notable scholars in this field are Li Duan, Yujie Liang, Xiao Xu, and Wei Seong Toh, with Shipin Zhang emerging as the most co-cited author. The principal research themes were elucidating how exosomes contribute to OA pathology and developing novel therapeutic approaches. Research hotspots and new trends are linked to terms such as "cartilage," "mesenchymal stem cell," "miRNA," "treatment," and "biomarkers." This comprehensive analysis offers valuable insights into the prevailing scientific discourse, pivotal topics, and potential future directions. It could serve as a foundational reference for researchers exploring exosomes and their utility in OA diagnostics and therapeutics.

Abstract
By analyzing the relevant literature, we can accurately grasp the current status of diagnosis and treatment of chronic total occlusion of coronary artery, and clarify the development trend, research frontiers and hotspots of this disease. A literature search with "chronic total occlusion" as the title was performed in the Web of Science database. The title, author, abstract, keywords, institution, publication, country, reference, and other endnotes of the selected literature were exported in the form of text. The author, country, institution, and keywords of the literature were analyzed through Citespace and VOSviewer. The United States has the highest proportion of articles. The institution with the largest number of publications in this field is the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation. Brilakis Emmanouil S is the author with the most published articles. The journal system with the largest number of articles in this field is Cardiac Cardiovascular Systems. The keywords with the highest frequency are "chronic total occlusion," "percutaneous coronary intervention," "recanalization," and "revascularization." The burst detection analysis of hot keywords shows that "algorithm," "management," and "mortality" are the research hotspots in this field in recent years. At present, the research on this disease mainly focuses on the opening of occluded coronary arteries through various treatment methods. In the near future and the next few years, the research hotspots may be the scoring system algorithms for the treatment of chronic total occlusion of coronary artery and the management strategies for patients.

Abstract
Background: Osteoporosis, a systemic skeletal disorder, is expected to affect 60% of women over 50. While dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) scans are the current gold standard for diagnosis, they are typically used only after fractures occur, highlighting the need for early detection tools. Initial studies have shown panoramic radiographs (PRs) to be a potential medium, but these have methodological flaws. This study aims to address these shortcomings by developing a robust AI application for accurate osteoporosis identification in PRs. Methods: A total of 348 PRs were used for development, 58 PRs for validation, and 51 PRs for hold-out testing. Initially, the YOLOv8 object detection model was employed to predict the regions of interest. Subsequently, the predicted regions of interest were extracted from the PRs and processed by the EfficientNet classification model. Results: The model for osteoporosis detection on a PR achieved an overall sensitivity of 0.83 and an F1-score of 0.53. The area under the curve (AUC) was 0.76. The lowest detection sensitivity was for the cropped angulus region (0.66), while the highest sensitivity was for the cropped mental foramen region (0.80). Conclusion: This research presents a proof-of-concept algorithm showing the potential of deep learning to identify osteoporosis in dental radiographs. Furthermore, our thorough evaluation of existing algorithms revealed that many optimistic outcomes lack credibility when subjected to rigorous methodological scrutiny.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Despite numerous studies confirming the association between insulin resistance (IR) and macrophage polarization, there is a lack of bibliometric analysis in this area. Therefore, our objective is to conduct a comprehensive analysis of published literature and identify potential future research trends using bibliometrics. METHOD Publications on the topic of macrophage polarization in IR were gathered from the Web of Science Core Collection database (WoSCC) spanning the years 1999-2023. Bibliometric analysis and visualization were conducted using VOSviewers, CiteSpace, the R package "bibliometrix" and Tableau Public. RESULT A total of 3435 articles published between 1999 and 2023 were included in the analysis. These articles originated from 75 countries, with the United States and China leading in contributions. The top five research institutions are the University of California, San Diego, Harvard University, the University of Michigan, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Huazhong University of Science and Technology. In this research domain, Diabetes is the most frequently published journal, and the Journal of Clinical Investigation is the most co-cited. Among the 19,398 authors contributing to these publications, Lumeng CN. not only authored the most papers but also received the highest number of co-citations. "Insulin resistance" emerges as a primary keyword in the analysis of emerging research hotspots. CONCLUSION For the first time, bibliometric methods have been employed to conduct a comprehensive summary of papers relevant to macrophage polarization in IR. This study aims to identify the current research direction and future research hotspots, offering valuable guidance and insights for scholars in the field.

Abstract
Background Epigenetics, which involves regulatory modifications that do not alter the DNA sequence itself, is crucial in the development and progression of thyroid cancer. This study aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of the epigenetic research landscape in thyroid cancer, highlighting current trends, major research areas, and potential future directions. Methods A bibliometric analysis was performed using data from the Web of Science Core Collection (WOSCC) up to 1 November 2023. Analytical tools such as VOSviewer, CiteSpace, and the R package 'bibliometrix' were employed for comprehensive data analysis and visualization. This process identified principal research themes, along with influential authors, institutions, and countries contributing to the field. Results The analysis reveals a marked increase in thyroid cancer epigenetics research over the past two decades. Emergent key themes include the exploration of molecular mechanisms and biomarkers, various subtypes of thyroid cancer, implications for therapeutic interventions, advancements in technologies and methodologies, and the scope of translational research. Research hotspots within these themes highlight intensive areas of study and the potential for significant breakthroughs. Conclusion This study presents an in-depth overview of the current state of epigenetics in thyroid cancer research. It underscores the potential of epigenetic strategies as viable therapeutic options and provides valuable insights for researchers and clinicians in advancing the understanding and treatment of this complex disease. Future research is vital to fully leverage the therapeutic possibilities offered by epigenetics in the management of thyroid cancer.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Recently, significant scientific research breakthroughs have been witnessed in the treatment of chronic insomnia. However, it seems that there is currently no bibliometric analysis of this. Therefore, we hope to comprehensively review and analyze the scholarly system and research focus in the field of chronic insomnia treatment through bibliometric methods. METHODS Between 2000 and 2023, we explored various papers in relation to the treatment of chronic insomnia in the Web of Science Core Collection(WOSCC) database. Subsequently, the collected papers were subjected to bibliometric analysis utilizing CiteSpace, VOSviewer, and the "bibliometric" package in R language. RESULTS With China and the United States(USA) among them, a total of 2937 papers were published across 49 countries. Publications related to the treatment of chronic insomnia were increasing year by year. The Laval University, Washington University, Pittsburgh University, and Stanford University were key research institutions. The journal Sleep was widely popular in the field and was also one of the most cited journals. These papers came from 148 authors, with Morin, Charles M., Roth, Thomas, Espie, Colin A., Harvey, Allison G., and Buysse, Daniel J. publishing the most papers and Morin, cm being co-cited the most. The treatment process of chronic insomnia can be divided into three main stages: drug intervention, diseases related to chronic insomnia, and cognitive behavioral therapy and mental health. Keywords such as "children and adolescents", "novel coronavirus pneumonia" (COVID-19), "mental health" and "heart failure" have become the focus of current research. CONCLUSIONS We carried out a detailed bibliometric review of the development trends and research results of chronic insomnia research through this study for the first time. The information it provides reveals recent research hotspots and cutting-edge issues, providing valuable reference materials for researchers focusing on the treatment of chronic insomnia.

Abstract
Purpose Conduct a bibliometric analysis to review the knowledge structure and research trends regarding the association between periodontal disease and cardiovascular disease (CVD). Methods The Web of Science Core collection database was searched for retrieving publications related to periodontitis and CVD between January 1, 2003 and December 31, 2022. The VOSviewer, CiteSpace, and R software package "bibliometrix" were employed for the bibliometric analysis. Results In total, 3447 articles were collected from 98 countries over the past 20 years, with the United States (1,003), Japan (377), and China (321) contributing the most publications. The literature in this field exhibited exponential growth. The University of Helsinki (n = 125, 1.37 %) holds the distinction of being the research institution with the highest number of publications, with a predominant representation from institutions in the United States. Notably, the Journal of Periodontology emerges as the most popular journal in the field, whereas the Journal of Clinical Periodontology takes the lead in terms of citations. These publications originated from 15,236 authors, with Pussinen (n = 40) having the highest number of published papers and Tonetti (n = 976) garnering the most citations. The visualization analysis of keywords identified "oral microbiome," "inflammation," and "porphyromonas gingivalis" as emerging research hotspots in exploring the relationship between periodontitis and CVDs. Conclusion Through a comprehensive bibliometric analysis, this study posits that periodontitis may heighten the risk of cardiovascular events, offering valuable academic references for scholars investigating the link between periodontitis and CVDs.

Abstract
Leukocyte cell-derived chemotaxin-2 (LECT2) is an important cytokine synthesized by liver. Significant research interest is stimulated by its crucial involvement in inflammatory response, immune regulation, disease occurrence and development. However, bibliometric study on LECT2 is lacking. In order to comprehend the function and operation of LECT2 in human illnesses, we examined pertinent studies on LECT2 investigation in the Web of Science database, followed by utilizing CiteSpace, VOSview, and Scimago Graphica for assessing the yearly quantity of papers, countries/regions involved, establishments, authors, publications, citations, and key terms. Then we summarized the current research hotspots in this field. Our study found that the literature related to LECT2 has a fluctuating upward trend. "Angiogenesis", "ALECT2", "diagnosis", and "biliary atresia" are the current investigative frontiers. Our findings indicated that liver diseases (e.g. liver fibrosis and hepatic cell carcinoma), systemic inflammatory disease, and amyloidosis are the current research focus of LECT2. The current LECT2 research outcomes are not exceptional. We hope to promote the scientific research of LECT2 and exploit its potential for clinical diagnosis and treatment of related diseases through a comprehensive bibliometric review.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Electroencephalography (EEG), a widely used noninvasive neurophysiological diagnostic tool, has experienced substantial advancements from 2004 to 2022, particularly in neonatal applications. Utilizing a bibliometric methodology, this study delineates the knowledge structure and identifies emergent trends within neonatal EEG research. METHODS An exhaustive literature search was conducted on the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database to identify publications related to neonatal EEG from 2004 to 2022. Analytical tools such as VOSviewer, CiteSpace, and the R package "bibliometrix" were employed to facilitate this investigation. RESULTS The search yielded 2501 articles originating from 79 countries, with the United States and England being the predominant contributors. A yearly upward trend in publications concerning neonatal EEG was observed. Notable research institutions leading this field include the University of Helsinki, University College London, and University College Cork. Clinical Neurophysiology is identified as the foremost journal in this realm, with Pediatrics as the most frequently co-cited journal. The collective body of work from 9977 authors highlights Sampsa Vanhatalo as the most prolific contributor, while Mark Steven Scher is recognized as the most frequently co-cited author. Key terms such as "seizures," "epilepsy," "hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy," "amplitude-integrated EEG," and "brain injury" represent the focal research themes. CONCLUSION This bibliometric analysis offers the first comprehensive review, encapsulating research trends and progress in neonatal EEG. It reveals current research frontiers and crucial directions, providing an essential resource for researchers engaged in neonatal neuroscience.

Abstract
Background The concept of the gut-liver axis was proposed by Marshall in 1998, and since then, this hypothesis has been gradually accepted by the academic community. Many publications have been published on the gut-liver axis, making it important to assess the scientific implications of these studies and the trends in this field. Methods Publications were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection. Microsoft Excel, CiteSpace, VOSviewer, and Scimago Graphica software were used for bibliometric analysis. Results A total of 776 publications from the Web of Science core database were included in this study. In the past 25 years, the number of publications on the gut-liver axis has shown an upward trend, particularly in the past 3 years (2020-2022). China had the highest number of publications (267 articles, 34.4%). However, the United States was at the top regarding influence and international cooperation in this field. The University of California San Diego had contributed the most publications. Suk, Ki Tae and Schnabl, Bernd were tied for the first rank in most publications. Thematic hotspots and frontiers were focused on gut microbiota, microbial metabolite, intestinal permeability, bacterial translocation, bile acid, non-alcoholic steatohepatitis, and alcoholic liver disease. Conclusion Our study is the first bibliometric analysis of literature using visualization software to present the current research status of the gut-liver axis over the past 25 years. The damage and repair of intestinal barrier function, as well as the disruption of gut microbiota and host metabolism, should be a focus of attention. This study can provide a reference for later researchers to understand the global research trends, hotspots, and frontiers in this field.

Abstract
Background Osteosarcoma (OS) is the most common bone malignant tumor in children and adolescents. Recent research indicates that non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) have been associated with OS occurrence and development, with significant progress made in this field. However, there is no intelligent structure prediction and literature visualization analysis in this research field. From the perspective of intelligent knowledge structure construction and bibliometrics, this study will comprehensively review the role of countries, institutions, journals, authors, literature citation relationships and subject keywords in the field of ncRNAs in OS. Based on this analysis, we will systematically analyze the characteristics of the knowledge structure of ncRNAs in OS disease research and identify the current research hotspots and trends. Methods The Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database was searched for articles on ncRNAs in OS between 2001 and 2023. This bibliometric analysis was performed using VOSviewers, CiteSpace, and Pajek. Results This study involved 15,631 authors from 2,631 institutions across 57 countries/regions, with a total of 3,642 papers published in 553 academic journals. China has the highest number of published papers in this research field. The main research institutions include Nanjing Medical University (n = 129, 3.54%), Shanghai Jiao Tong University (n = 128, 3.51%), Zhengzhou University (n = 110, 3.02%), and China Medical University (n = 109, 2.99%). Oncology Letters (n =139, 3.82%), European Review for Medical Pharmacological Sciences (120, 3.31%), and Molecular Medicine Reports (n = 95, 2.61%) are the most popular journals in this field, with Oncotarget being the most co-cited journal (Co-Citation = 4,268). Wei Wang, Wei Liu, and Zhenfeng Duan published the most papers, with Wang Y being the most co-cited author. "miRNA", "lncRNA" and "circRNA" are the main focuses of ncRNAs in OS studies. Key themes include "migration and invasion", "apoptosis and proliferation", "prognosis", "biomarkers" and "chemoresistance". Since 2020, hotspots and trends in ncRNA research in OS include "tumor microenvironment", "immune" and "exosome". Conclusion This study represents the first comprehensive bibliometric analysis of the knowledge structure and development of ncRNAs in OS. These findings highlight current research hotspots and frontier directions, offering valuable insights for future studies on the role of ncRNAs in OS.

Abstract
Background Lung cancer, a major cause of cancer-related mortality globally, necessitates innovative therapeutic strategies. Ferroptosis, an iron-dependent, non-apoptotic cell death form, has risen as a crucial therapeutic target. This study aims to conduct a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of ferroptosis in lung cancer, highlighting principal research trends, influential publications, and prospective future directions. Methods This study utilized bibliometric tools such as VOSviewer, CiteSpace, and the R package "bibliometrix" to thoroughly analyze 488 articles on ferroptosis in lung cancer from 2014 to October 2023. Data from the Web of Science Core Collection were analyzed to determine spatial and temporal trends, identify prominent authors and seminal works, and uncover emerging hotspots and frontiers of the field. The literature was segmented into coherent thematic groups through cluster analysis. Results Our analysis revealed a significant exponential growth in publications from 2019 to 2023, mirroring the increasing interest in this area. Predominantly, the influential research was published in high-impact journals, with Scott J. Dixon's works being the most cited. The study identified four primary research themes: Lung Cancer Specifics; Biomarker Identification and Prognosis; Cellular Death Mechanisms and Metabolic Regulation; and Cancer Stem Cells and Therapeutic Resistance. Recent studies have increasingly focused on areas such as the immune microenvironment and mitochondrial dysfunction. Furthermore, the analysis highlighted the field's global collaborative nature, with significant contributions from China, the USA, and Germany. Conclusion This extensive bibliometric analysis emphasizes the growing importance of ferroptosis in lung cancer research. The identified themes and emerging topics underline the field's complexity and suggest new research avenues. This study promotes a holistic research approach, advocating for the exploration of innovative ferroptosis-targeting therapies that could revolutionize lung cancer treatment.

Abstract
Background Cervical carcinoma is a type of malignant tumor that primarily develops in the cervix, the lower part of the uterus. In recent years, Despite the considerable progress made in immunotherapy research for cervical carcinoma, an important aspect has been largely overlooked - the absence of a comprehensive bibliometric analysis in this field. By employing bibliometric techniques, this study aims to fill this gap and provide a comprehensive overview of the knowledge structure and research hotspots within the realm of immunotherapy in cervical carcinoma. Method A comprehensive search was conducted on the web of science core collection(WoSCC) database to identify publications related to immunotherapy specifically for the treatment of cervical carcinoma. The search spanned the period from the year 2000 to 2023. Several analytical tools were employed. These included VOSviewers, CiteSpace, and the R package "bibliometrix". Results A total of 654 research articles from 66 different countries have been included in the analysis. The United States and China have emerged as the leading countries in publishing research on immunotherapy in cervical carcinoma. Leiden University and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center from the Netherlands and the United States respectively have a close cooperation. Fudan University from China and the German Cancer Research Center are also among the key institutions leading research in this area. Frontiers in Oncology has emerged as the most popular and widely recognized publication in the field of immunotherapy in cervical carcinoma. Journal of Clinical Oncology is frequently cited by researchers in this area. Van Der Burg, Sjoerd H has published the highest number of papers. Tewari, Krishnansu S has been the most co-cited author. Keywords such as PD-L1, chemotherapy, and immune checkpoint inhibitors have gained significant attention in recent years. Conclusion This is the first bibliometric study that comprehensively summarizes the research trends and developments of immunotherapy in cervical carcinoma. This groundbreaking study not only summarizes the current research trends and developments in immunotherapy for cervical carcinoma but also provides a reference for scholars studying the treatment of cervical cancer.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) is a common, refractory and disabling disease of orthopedic department, which is one of the common causes of hip pain and dysfunction. Recent studies have shown that much progress has been made in the research of programmed cell death (PCD) in ONFH. However, there is no bibliometric analysis in this research field. This study aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the knowledge structure and research hot spots of PCD in ONFH through bibliometrics. METHOD The literature search related to ONFH and PCD was conducted on the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database from 2002 to 2021. The VOSviewers, "bibliometrix" R package and CiteSpace were used to conduct this bibliometric analysis. RESULTS In total, 346 articles from 27 countries led by China and USA and Japan were included. The number of publications related to PCD in ONFH is increasing year by year. Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Xi An Jiao Tong University, Wuhan University and Huazhong University of Science and Technology are the main research institutions. Molecular Medicine Reports is the most popular journal in the field of PCD in ONFH, and Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research is the most cocited journal. These publications come from 1882 authors among which Peng Hao, Sun Wei, Zhang Chang-Qing, Zhang Jian and Wang Kun-zheng had published the most papers and Ronald S Weinstein was cocited most often. Apoptosis, osteonecrosis, osteonecrosis of the femoral head, glucocorticoid and femoral head appeared are the main topics the field of PCD in ONFH. Autophagy was most likely to be the current research hot spot for PCD in ONFH. CONCLUSION This is the first bibliometric study that comprehensively summarizes the research trends and developments of PCD in ONFH. This information identified recent research frontiers and hot directions, which will provide a reference for scholars studying PCD in ONFH.

Abstract
BACKGROUND We used bibliometric methods to evaluate publications on the role of nutrition in sarcopenic obesity and analyzed the current situation and developmental trends over the past 2 decades. METHODS Publications from 2002 to 2022 related to the role of nutrition in sarcopenic obesity were extracted from the Web of Science Core Collection database. CiteSpace, VOSviewer, and the Bibliometrix R package were applied to build relevant network diagrams. RESULTS One thousand ninety-four articles from 64 countries were included. The annual number of publications in this field has shown an intense growth trend. The University of Alberta, Yonsei University, and Korea University are the major research institutions. Clinical Nutrition has published the most papers on the role of nutrition in sarcopenic obesity, and the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition is the most co-cited journal. A total of 5834 authors conducted the relevant studies. Yves Boirie has published the most papers in this field, and AJ Cruz-Jentoft is the most co-cited author. CONCLUSION This is the first bibliometric study of the role of nutrition in sarcopenic obesity. This study systematically summarizes the research hotspots and development directions in this field, and provides a reference for scholars studying the role of nutrition in sarcopenic obesity.

Abstract
The objective of this study is to assess the performance of an innovative AI-powered tool for sex determination using panoramic radiographs (PR) and to explore factors affecting the performance of the convolutional neural network (CNN). The study involved 207,946 panoramic dental X-rays and their corresponding reports from 15 clinical centers in São Paulo, Brazil. The PRs were acquired with four different devices, and 58% of the patients were female. Data preprocessing included anonymizing the exams, extracting pertinent information from the reports, such as sex, age, type of dentition, and number of missing teeth, and organizing the data into a PostgreSQL database. Two neural network architectures, a standard CNN and a ResNet, were utilized for sex classification, with both undergoing hyperparameter tuning and cross-validation to ensure optimal performance. The CNN model achieved 95.02% accuracy in sex estimation, with image resolution being a significant influencing factor. The ResNet model attained over 86% accuracy in subjects older than 6 years and over 96% in those over 16 years. The algorithm performed better on female images, and the area under the curve (AUC) exceeded 96% for most age groups, except the youngest. Accuracy values were also assessed for different dentition types (deciduous, mixed, and permanent) and missing teeth. This study demonstrates the effectiveness of an AI-driven tool for sex determination using PR and emphasizes the role of image resolution, age, and sex in determining the algorithm's performance.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To analyze factors predicting mandibular cortical width (MCW) and mandibular cortical index (MCI) in adult females and males. MATERIAL AND METHODS Data on 427 females and 335 males aged 40-84 from The Tromsø study: Tromsø7 were used. T-score, age, menopausal status (for females), remaining teeth, and periodontal status were analyzed in linear and logistic regression analyses as predictors of MCW and MCI, respectively. RESULTS T-score, age, and the number of remaining teeth significantly predicted MCW in females but not males. Standardized β coefficients were 0.286, -0.231, and 0.131, respectively. The linear regression model explained 24% of MCW variation in females. MCI in females was significantly predicted by T-score, age, and remaining teeth with the Wald values of 9.65, 6.17, and 5.83, respectively. The logistic regression model explained 16.3-23% of the variation in MCI in females. In males, T-score was the only significant predictor of the eroded cortex, and the logistic model explained only 4.3-5.8% of the variation in MCI. CONCLUSIONS The T-score demonstrated a stronger relationship with MCW and MCI than other factors in females, which supports the usefulness of those indices for osteoporosis screening. Conversely, the T-score exhibited no association with MCW and remained the only significant predictor of MCI in males, yet to a lesser extent than in females. CLINICAL RELEVANCE Understanding factors affecting mandibular cortical morphology is essential for further investigations of MCW and MCI usefulness for osteoporosis screening in females and males.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is chronic, with its progression leading to liver fibrosis and end-stage cirrhosis. Although NAFLD is increasingly common, no treatment guideline has been established. Many mechanistic studies and drug trials have been conducted for new drug development to treat NAFLD. An up-to-date overview on the knowledge structure of NAFLD through bibliometrics, focusing on research hotspots, is necessary to reveal the rational and timely directions of development in this field. AIM To research the latest literature and determine the current trends in treatment for NAFLD. METHODS Publications related to treatment for NAFLD were searched on the Web of Science Core Collection database, from 2010 to 2023. VOSviewers, CiteSpace, and R package "bibliometrix" were used to conduct this bibliometric analysis. The key information was extracted, and the results of the cluster analysis were based on network data for generating and investigating maps for country, institution, journal, and author. Historiography analysis, bursts and cluster analysis, co-occurrence analysis, and trend topic revealed the knowledge structure and research hotspots in this field. GraphPad Prism 9.5.1.733 and Microsoft Office Excel 2019 were used for data analysis and visualization. RESULTS In total, 10829 articles from 120 countries (led by China and the United States) and 8785 institutions were included. The number of publications related to treatment for NAFLD increased annually. While China produced the most publications, the United States was the most cited country, and the United Kingdom collaborated the most from an international standpoint. The University of California-San Diego, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine produced the most publications of all the research institutions. The International Journal of Molecular Sciences was the most frequent journal out of the 1523 total journals, and Hepatology was the most cited and co-cited journal. Sanyal AJ was the most cited author, the most co-cited author was Younossi ZM, and the most influential author was Loomba R. The most studied topics included the epidemiology and mechanism of NAFLD, the development of accurate diagnosis, the precise management of patients with NAFLD, and the associated metabolic comorbidities. The major cluster topics were "emerging drug," "glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist," "metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease," "gut microbiota," and "glucose metabolism." CONCLUSION The bibliometric study identified recent research frontiers and hot directions, which can provide a valuable reference for scholars researching treatments for NAFLD.

Abstract
PURPOSE OF REVIEW Osteoporosis ranks high among morbidities in the elderly as it is a natural process to lose bone, making them susceptible to fractures from minor falls. The cost of managing these patients is staggering. The fractures can be prevented with better care of the elderly, and by treating the major predisposing factor, osteoporosis. Clinicians and scientists, in general, constantly look for early diagnostic and prognostic indicators for osteopenia and osteoporosis to proactively prevent fractures. Dental panoramic radiography (DPR) is a rotational pantomography used for identifying dental pathology in patients. Early signs of osteopenia and osteoporosis can be identified in DPR. The usefulness of notable jaw changes in DPR to predict osteopenia and osteoporosis is still evolving as more studies continue to delve into this concept. The purpose of this review is to present advances made in the practical application of DPR for predicting early onset of osteopenia and osteoporosis. RECENT FINDINGS Dental panoramic radiography, a form of tomography commonly used by dental practitioners, has been the standard of care for decades for detecting dento-alveolar pathology. Several technological advancements have taken place with respect to the use of DPR. These include conversion from plain film to digital radiography, advancements in the manufacture of flat panel detectors, and accurate imaging of the layers of mandible and maxilla that has become possible with appropriate patient positioning within the focal trough of the machine. Improvements in the software infrastructure make it easier to view, enhance, and save the radiographic images. The radiographic appearance of the trabecular bone within the mandible and indices measured from the dental panoramic radiographs focusing on the inferior cortex of the mandible are considered useful tools for identifying asymptomatic individuals with osteoporosis or at risk for developing osteoporosis. These indices apparently correlate with risks of fragility fractures of osteoporosis in other parts of the body. Dental panoramic radiography (DPR) is a commonly used radiographic procedure in dentistry for evaluation of teeth and associated maxillofacial structures. The evaluation of the inferior border of the mandible for reduction or loss of cortical thickness and evaluation of the trabecular bone within the mandible are helpful markers for early signs of osteopenia to identify patients at risk for osteoporosis. This review focused on research advancements on practical application of DPR in early identification of osteopenia and osteoporosis.

Abstract
Background Plenty of publications had been written in the last several decades on acute myocardial infarction (AMI) in women. However, there are few bibliometric analyses in such field. In order to solve this problem, we attempted to examine the knowledge structure and development of research about AMI in women based on analysis of related publications. Method The Web of Science Core Collection was used to extract all publications regarding AMI in women, ranging from January 2000 to August 2022. Bibliometric analysis was performed using VOSviewer, Cite Space, and an online bibliometric analysis platform. Results A total of 14,853 publications related to AMI in women were identified from 2000 to 2022. Over the past 20 years, the United States had published the most articles in international research and participated in international cooperation the most frequently. The primary research institutions were Harvard University and University of Toronto. Circulation was the most cited journal and had an incontrovertible academic impact. 67,848 authors were identified, among which Harlan M Krumholz had the most significant number of articles and Thygesen K was co-cited most often. And the most common keywords included risk factors, disease, prognosis, mortality, criteria and algorithm. Conclusion The research hotspots and trends of AMI in women were identified and explored using bibliometric and visual methods. Researches about AMI in women are flourishing. Criteria and algorithms might be the focus of research in the near future, which deserved great attentions.

Abstract
Parthenolide (PTL) is a new compound extracted from traditional Chinese medicine. In recent years, it has been proven to play an undeniable role in tumors, autoimmune diseases, and inflammatory diseases. Similarly, an increasing number of experiments have also confirmed the biological mechanism of PTL in these diseases. In order to better understand the development trend and potential hot spots of PTL in cancer and other diseases, we conducted a detailed bibliometric analysis. The purpose of presenting this bibliometric analysis was to highlight and inform researchers of the important research directions, co-occurrence relationships and research status in this field. Publications related to PTL research from 2002 to 2022 were extracted on the web of science core collection (WoSCC) platform. CiteSpace, VOSviewers and R package "bibliometrix" were applied to build relevant network diagrams. The bibliometric analysis was presented in terms of performance analysis (including publication statistics, top publishing countries, top publishing institutions, publishing journals and co-cited journals, authors and co-cited authors, co-cited references statistics, citation bursts statistics, keyword statistics and trend topic statistics) and science mapping (including citations by country, citations by institution, citations by journal, citations by author, co-citation analysis, and keyword co-occurrence). The detailed discussion of the results explained the focus and latest trends from the bibliometric analysis. Finally, the current status and shortcomings of the research field on PTLwere clearly pointed out for reference by scholars.

Abstract
Many studies in the last decades have correlated mandible bone structure with systemic diseases like osteoporosis. Mandible segmentation, as well as segmentation of other oral structures, is an essential step in studies that correlate oral structures' conditions with systemic diseases in general. However, manual mandible segmentation is a time-consuming and training-required task that suffers from inter and intra-user variability. Further, the dental panoramic x-ray image (PAN), the most used image in oral studies, contains overlapping of many structures and lacks contrast on structures' interface. Those facts make both manual and automatic mandible segmentation a challenge. In the present study, we propose a precise and robust set of deep learning-based algorithms for automatic mandible segmentation (AMS) on PAN images. Two datasets were considered. An in-house image dataset with 393 image/segmentation pairs was prepared using image data of 321 image patient data and the corresponding manual segmentation performed by an experienced specialist. Additionally, a publicly available third-party image dataset (TPD) composed of 116 image/segmentation pairs was used to train the models. Four deep learning models were trained using U-Net and HRNet architectures with and without data augmentation. An additional morphological refinement routine was proposed to enhance the models' prediction. An ensemble model was proposed combining the four best-trained segmentation models. The ensemble model with morphological refinement achieved the highest scores on the test set (98.27%, 97.60%, 97.18%, ACC, DICE, and IoU respectively), with the other models scoring above 95% in all performance metrics on the test set. The present study achieved the highest ranked performance considering all the previously published results on AMS for PAN images. Additionally, those are the most robust results achieved since it was performed over an image set with considerable gender representativeness, a wide age range, a large variety of oral conditions, and images from different imaging scans.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to investigate the diagnostic efficacy of the radiomorphometric indices of mandibular cortical width (MCW) and mandibular cortical index (MCI) of cortical erosion for osteoporosis screening in adults (≥40 years) and older adults (≥65 years) to determine whether adding a fracture risk assessment tool (FRAX) would improve efficacy. STUDY DESIGN One observer measured MCW and assessed MCI on dental panoramic radiographs acquired for patients in the Tromsø study. These indices, alone and with FRAX scores, were evaluated for efficacy in predicting osteoporosis, which was diagnosed by bone density measurement at the femoral necks with dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry. RESULTS MCW ≤3 mm and MCI indicating heavily eroded cortices (C3) had accuracies of 68.8% and 83.6%, respectively, in identifying osteoporosis. In females >65 years, MCW ≤3 mm and C3 produced higher sensitivities but lower specificities, with slightly lower accuracies (61.4% and 79.8%, respectively) compared with all females. The addition of FRAX scores >15% improved the accuracy of MCW ≤3 mm (81.7%) and C3 (87.9%), resulting in high specificity (86.6% and 95.4%). Combining MCW ≤3 mm or C3 with FRAX >15% increased the probabilities of detecting osteoporosis by increasing positive likelihood ratios. CONCLUSIONS MCW ≤3 mm or MCI C3, when combined with FRAX >15%, showed superior diagnostic efficacy, with high specificity in detecting females without osteoporosis.

Abstract
Background Since entering the 21st century, there has been an increasing interest in minimally invasive surgery for spinal diseases, which has led to the continued development of minimally invasive spine surgery (MISS), with major breakthroughs in technology and technical skills. However, in recent years, there is little relevant research using bibliometrics to analyze the field of MISS research. The purpose of this study is to sort out the publication situation and topic trends of articles in the field of MISS research from the perspective of bibliometrics. Methods The articles and reviews related to MISS from 2000 to 2022 were retrieved and downloaded from the Web of Science Core Collection (WOSCC). Visualization and knowledge mapping were performed using three bibliometric tools, including online bibliometric platform, CiteSpace and VOSviewer software. Curve fitting and correlation analysis were performed using Microsoft Excel software. The global research publication output, contributions of countries, institutions, authors, and journals, average citations per item (ACI), Hirsch index (H-index), research hot keywords, etc., in this field were analyzed. Results A total of 2384 papers were retrieved, including 2135 original papers and 249 review papers. In the past 22 years, the number of annual publications of MISS research has shown a steady growth trend. China contributed the most papers, and the United States ranked second, but the United States had the highest total citations, and H-index value. The most prolific institutions were Soochow University, Capital Medical University and Wooridul Spine Hospital. In this field, Professors Lee SH, Ahn Y and Yang HL have made significant achievements. However, there is relatively little international collaboration between institutions or researchers. World Neurosurgery is the most published journal on MISS research. According to the keyword co-occurrence analysis, recent keywords mainly focus on researches on minimally invasive modalities, techniques and prognosis, while on the keyword analysis of the ongoing bursts, percutaneous transforaminal endoscopic discectomy, lumbar diskectomy, spinal stenosis, recompression, diskectomy, endoscopic spine surgery, laminectomy, transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion, etc., will likely continue to be a research hotspot in the near future. Conclusion Looking at the temporal trend in the number of publications per year, the number of publications for the MISS study will increase in the near future. China has the highest number of publications, but the US has the highest quality publications. International cooperation needs to be further strengthened. Our findings can provide useful information for the academic community and identify possible research fronts and hotspots in the coming years.

Abstract
Osteoporosis leads to the loss of cortical thickness, a decrease in bone mineral density (BMD), deterioration in the size of trabeculae, and an increased risk of fractures. Changes in trabecular bone due to osteoporosis can be observed on periapical radiographs, which are widely used in dental practice. This study proposes an automatic trabecular bone segmentation method for detecting osteoporosis using a color histogram and machine learning (ML), based on 120 regions of interest (ROI) on periapical radiographs, and divided into 60 training and 42 testing datasets. The diagnosis of osteoporosis is based on BMD as evaluated by dual X-ray absorptiometry. The proposed method comprises five stages: the obtaining of ROI images, conversion to grayscale, color histogram segmentation, extraction of pixel distribution, and performance evaluation of the ML classifier. For trabecular bone segmentation, we compare K-means and Fuzzy C-means. The distribution of pixels obtained from the K-means and Fuzzy C-means segmentation was used to detect osteoporosis using three ML methods: decision tree, naive Bayes, and multilayer perceptron. The testing dataset was used to obtain the results in this study. Based on the performance evaluation of the K-means and Fuzzy C-means segmentation methods combined with 3 ML, the osteoporosis detection method with the best diagnostic performance was K-means segmentation combined with a multilayer perceptron classifier, with accuracy, specificity, and sensitivity of 90.48%, 90.90%, and 90.00%, respectively. The high accuracy of this study indicates that the proposed method provides a significant contribution to the detection of osteoporosis in the field of medical and dental image analysis.

Abstract
The radiographic anatomy on dental panoramic images is essential knowledge for proper diagnosis and treatment planning purposes. No prior study has examined the content of YouTube videos with regard to radiographic anatomy on panoramic radiography. The objective of this study was to provide a content analysis on these videos. The initial search string was: (panoramic anatomy). An additional search was performed with the search string: (OPG landmarks). By screening the resultant videos and their related videos (recommended by YouTube as a list on the right of the screen), a total of 62 videos were screened. Videos were excluded if they were irrelevant (e.g., focusing on radiographic errors without covering the anatomy), elaborating mainly with drawings without showing the landmarks on panoramic images, duplicate videos, and non-English speaking. Finally, 38 videos were included and analyzed. Most of them showed clear panoramic images and had clear tracing or delineation of the anatomical landmarks. On average, each video described 26 landmarks, including 12.3 from the midfacial region, 8.2 from the mandible, and 5.2 from soft tissue/air space/others. The videos were of good quality in general, with some frequent shortcomings being lack of visual aid with skull and schematic diagrams, and lack of discussion on clinical relevance. The maxillary sinus was the structure mostly involved in wrong information, particularly the wrong delineation of its posterior wall.

Abstract
Background Autoimmune diseases (AIDs) are a class of chronic disabling diseases characterized by inflammation and damage to muscles, joints, bones, and internal organs. Recent studies have shown that much progress has been made in the research of exosomes in AIDs. However, there is no bibliometric analysis in this research field. This study aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the knowledge structure and research hotspots of exosomes in AIDs through bibliometrics. Method Publications related to exosomes in AIDs from 2002 to 2021 were searched on the web of science core collection (WoSCC) database. VOSviewers, CiteSpace and R package “bibliometrix” were used to conduct this bibliometric analysis. Results 312 articles from 48 countries led by China and the United States were included. The number of publications related to exosomes in AIDs is increasing year by year. Central South University, Sun Yat Sen University, Tianjin Medical University and University of Pennsylvania are the main research institutions. Frontiers in immunology is the most popular journal in this field, and Journal of Immunology is the most co-cited journal. These publications come from 473 authors among which Ilias Alevizos, Qianjin Lu, Wei Wei, Jim Xiang and Ming Zhao had published the most papers and Clotilde Théry was co-cited most often. Studying the mechanism of endogenous exosomes in the occurrence and development of AIDs and the therapeutic strategy of exogenous exosomes in AIDs are the main topics in this research field. “Mesenchymal stem cells”, “microRNA”, “biomarkers”, “immunomodulation”, and “therapy” are the primary keywords of emerging research hotspots. Conclusion This is the first bibliometric study that comprehensively summarizes the research trends and developments of exosomes in AIDs. This information identifies recent research frontiers and hot directions, which will provide a reference for scholars studying exosomes.

Abstract
In this digital era, dental students often search for online resources for self-directed learning. YouTube is one of the most commonly sought online platforms for educational or instructional videos. No prior study has examined the validity of panoramic radiography videos available on YouTube. This study provides a content analysis of these YouTube videos. A search for relevant YouTube videos was conducted in April 2022. The search string was: (panoramic OR pan OR OPG) AND (dental OR dentistry OR X-ray). The first 100 videos that resulted from the search and their related videos were screened. Exclusion criteria included irrelevance (e.g., no demonstration of panoramic radiography procedures) and non-English videos. For each included video, the following parameters were recorded: image receptor type, patient age, patient type (real patient, animation, or phantom head), patient preparation procedures, machine preparation, patient positioning, and operator safety. The number of views, comments, likes, and channel subscribers were recorded, as well as the video duration and the age of the video. Forty videos were included and analyzed. Most of the videos demonstrated digital panoramic radiography with an adult patient. Procedures on the patient and machine preparations as well as patient positioning were generally explained well. However, most videos did not well-demonstrate operator safety details concerning the use of adequate personal protective equipment. View count, comment count, and channel subscriber count positively correlated with the like count. Clinicians and students should carefully critique the content of such instructional videos and refer to the contents from other sources such as user manuals and latest recommendations from local authorities.

Abstract
Osteoporosis has become a major public health problem and bisphosphates treatment for osteoporosis is a rapidly developing research field. Every year, plenty of studies devoted to the treatment of osteoporosis are published, giving clinicians a new perspective on bisphosphates treatment for osteoporosis. However, the quality of the scientific papers in this area is unclear. The aim of the present study was to characterize the 100 top-cited articles regarding bisphosphates treatment for osteoporosis. This analysis provides an accessible list for practitioners of endocrinology, pharmacy, epidemiology, imaging, surgery, and scientific research to identify the most frequently cited literature and better understand the future direction.

Abstract
BackgroundChin implants have a long history, and its usage may be associated with mandibular bone resorption.ObjectivesThis report analyzed data on this topic from existing literature to evaluate the overall resorption rate and scientific impact in terms of citations.MethodPubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, and Google Scholar databases were searched to identify relevant publications. The search string was as follows: (chin) AND (augment* OR implant*) AND (resorb* OR resorp*) AND (bone OR osseous). A study was eligible if it recruited human subjects and reported resorption following any chin implantation based on radiographic examination.ResultsTwenty-eight patient studies were identified. Publication year seemed to have no effect on the mean depth of bone resorption and its prevalence as reported by the studies. The increased mean number of follow-up years seemed to have no effect on its prevalence but seem to be associated with deeper bone resorption. The majority of the studies had <5 years of follow-up and reported a mean of <2 mm of bone resorption. The most cited study had 69 citations. Citations rarely came from radiology journals. A limitation was that unpublished data could not be analyzed.ConclusionsMandibular bone resorption caused by chin implants of various materials is a common phenomenon. Its recognition and studies with a longer follow-up period should be further promoted.

Abstract
(1) Background: Many radiolucent jaw lesions exist, and they often show a radiographic resemblance, rendering diagnosis a challenging act. Closely related lesions should be frequently mentioned together in the academic literature, which might be helpful for junior practitioners in determining their differential diagnosis. The usefulness of bibliometric analysis in this respect has yet to be demonstrated. (2) Methods: This study evaluated academic publications on radiolucent jaw lesions, as indexed by the Web of Science Core Collection database. The mentions of radiolucent jaw lesions were extracted from the complete bibliographic records of the publications, and co-word analyses were conducted with the aid of VOSviewer. (3) Results: Based on 1897 papers, visualization maps were synthesized to evaluate co-occurrences of the radiolucent jaw lesions. Ameloblastoma was frequently mentioned together with odontogenic keratocyst, dentigerous cyst, and radicular cyst. Osseous dysplasia was co-mentioned with osteomyelitis, ossifying fibroma, odontoma, fibrous dysplasia, and apical periodontitis. (4) Conclusions: The co-word analysis, a form of bibliometric analysis, could demonstrate a relatedness of radiolucent jaw lesions that could be considered at differential diagnosis.

Abstract
The “failed/fragile/collapsed state” refers to state authority's complete or partial collapse, such as Somalia and Bosnia. According to Fragile States Index 2020 annual report, approximately 116 countries among 178 countries were in warning or alerting state quo, which hurts three-quarters of the world's population. A systematic scientometric interpretation of failed/fragile/collapsed state analysis would be helpful but is presently absent in the academic community. This review makes three donations by evaluating the 2,417 articles published in the Web of Science (WoS) Social Science Citation Index (SSCI) Collection between 1990 and 2020. First, it provides a unique prospect in failed/fragile/collapsed state studies through a detailed, systematic, and objective analysis. Second, the author has quantitatively tracked the progression of failed/fragile/collapsed state studies from 1990 to 2020. Finally, the author associated evolutionary trajectory analysis with future research directions, offering new pathways for failed/fragile/collapsed state studies. It also helps novice “failed/fragile/collapsed state” researchers and veteran scholars identify future research trends.

Abstract
Purpose The pulp length to width (PL/W) ratio of the maxillary lateral incisor can be used as an age determination method. This study aimed to investigate the correlation between the PL/W ratio of the maxillary lateral incisor on panoramic radiographs and human chronological age in Indonesian subjects. Materials and Methods This study analyzed with 134 maxillary lateral incisors on 113 panoramic radiographs from patients who visited the Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology Unit of Dental Hospital Universitas Padjadjaran, Bandung, Jawa Barat, Indonesia, from 2013 to 2018 (age range: between 11 to 60 years). The pulp length was measured from the pulp chamber roof to the apical foramen, and the pulp width was measured on the cervical area of the cementoenamel junction in millimeters using Fiji ImageJ open-source software. Simple linear regression (in SPSS) was used to analyze the results. The reliability of the observers was evaluated. Results The PL/W ratio of the maxillary lateral incisor was significantly correlated with chronological age (P<0.01). No statistically significant difference was found in the PL/W ratio between the left and right maxillary lateral incisors (P=0.333). There was a very strong correlation (r=0.939) between the PL/W ratio of the maxillary lateral incisor and human chronological age, with the following formula: age= -3.057+1.875×PL/W ratio (R2=0.882, standard error of estimate: 4.659). Conclusion The PL/W ratio of the maxillary lateral incisor on panoramic radiograph can be used for age determination in Indonesian subjects.

Abstract
Background: Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic disabling disease characterized by chronic inflammation, articular cartilage destruction, and reduced bone mass. Multiple studies have revealed that the development of osteoporosis in rheumatoid arthritis (RA; ORA) patients could be led to a reduced quality of life and increased healthcare costs. Nevertheless, no attempt has been made to analyze the field of ORA research with the bibliometric method. This study aimed to provide a comprehensive overview of the knowledge structure and theme trends in the field of ORA research from a bibliometric perspective. Methods: Articles and reviews regarding ORA from 1998 to 2021 were identified from the Web of Science database. An online bibliometric platform, CiteSpace, and VOSviewer software were used to generate visualization knowledge maps including co-authorship, co-citation, and co-occurrence analysis. SPSS, R, and Microsoft Excel software were used to conduct curve fitting and correlation analysis, and to analyze quantitative indicators, such as publication and citation counts, h-index, and journal citation reports. Results: A total of 1,081 papers with 28,473 citations were identified. Publications were mainly concentrated in North America, Western Europe, and Eastern Asia. Economic strength is an important factor affecting scientific output. The United States contributed the most publications (213) with the highest h-index value (46) as of September 14, 2021. Diakonhjemmet Hospital and professor Haugeberg G were the most prolific institution and influential authors, respectively. Journal of Rheumatology was the most productive journal concerning ORA research. According to the burst references, “anti-citrullinated protein antibodies” and “preventing joint destruction” have been recognized as the hot research issues in the domain. The keywords co-occurrence analysis identified “teriparatide,” “interleukin-6,” “Wnt,” and “vertebral fractures” as the important future research directions. Conclusion: This was the first bibliometric study comprehensively summarizing the trends and development of ORA research. Our findings could offer practical sources for scholars to understand the key information in this field, and identify the potential research frontiers and hot directions in the near future.

Abstract
Osteoporosis in children differs from adults in terms of definition, diagnosis, monitoring and treatment options. Primary osteoporosis comprises primarily of osteogenesis imperfecta (OI), but there are significant other causes of bone fragility in children that require treatment. Secondary osteoporosis can be a result of muscle disuse, iatrogenic causes, such as steroids, chronic inflammation, delayed or arrested puberty and thalassaemia major. Investigations involve bone biochemistry, dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry scan for bone densitometry and vertebral fracture assessment, radiographic assessment of the spine and, in some cases, quantitative computed tomography (QCT) or peripheral QCT. It is important that bone mineral density (BMD) results are adjusted based on age, gender and height, in order to reflect size corrections in children. Genetics are being used increasingly for the diagnosis and classification of various cases of primary osteoporosis. Bone turnover markers are used less frequently in children, but can be helpful in monitoring treatment and transiliac bone biopsy can assist in the diagnosis of atypical cases of osteoporosis. The management of children with osteoporosis requires a multidisciplinary team of health professionals with expertise in paediatric bone disease. The prevention and treatment of fragility fractures and improvement of the quality of life of patients are important aims of a specialised service. The drugs used most commonly in children are bisphosphonates, that, with timely treatment, can give good results in improving BMD and reshaping vertebral fractures. The data regarding their effect on reducing long bone fractures are equivocal. Denosumab is being used increasingly for various conditions with mixed results. There are more drugs trialled in adults, but these are not yet licenced for children. Increasing awareness of risk factors for paediatric osteoporosis, screening and referral to a specialist team for appropriate management can lead to early detection and treatment of asymptomatic fractures and prevention of further bone damage.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the performance of a new artificial intelligence (AI)-driven tool for tooth detection and segmentation on panoramic radiographs. MATERIALS AND METHODS In total, 153 radiographs were collected. A dentomaxillofacial radiologist labeled and segmented each tooth, serving as the ground truth. Class-agnostic crops with one tooth resulted in 3576 training teeth. The AI-driven tool combined two deep convolutional neural networks with expert refinement. Accuracy of the system to detect and segment teeth was the primary outcome, time analysis secondary. The Kruskal-Wallis test was used to evaluate differences of performance metrics among teeth groups and different devices and chi-square test to verify associations among the amount of corrections, presence of false positive and false negative, and crown and root parts of teeth with potential AI misinterpretations. RESULTS The system achieved a sensitivity of 98.9% and a precision of 99.6% for tooth detection. For segmenting teeth, lower canines presented best results with the following values for intersection over union, precision, recall, F1-score, and Hausdorff distances: 95.3%, 96.9%, 98.3%, 97.5%, and 7.9, respectively. Although still above 90%, segmentation results for both upper and lower molars were somewhat lower. The method showed a clinically significant reduction of 67% of the time consumed for the manual. CONCLUSIONS The AI tool yielded a highly accurate and fast performance for detecting and segmenting teeth, faster than the ground truth alone. CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE An innovative clinical AI-driven tool showed a faster and more accurate performance to detect and segment teeth on panoramic radiographs compared with manual segmentation.
