First Systematic Review on Health Communication Using the CiteSpace Software in China: Exploring Its Research Hotspots and Frontiers

Impact of health science popularization videos on user perceived value and continuous usage intention: based on the C-A-C and ECM model framework

Objective

To enhance individuals' sustained intention to use health science popularization videos, this study investigated the path relationships and influencing mechanisms of health science popularization video factors on users' perceived value, expectancy confirmation, enjoyment, satisfaction, trust, and continuous usage intention based on the cognitive-affective-conative and expectation-confirmation model theoretical framework.

Methods

This study adopted a cross-sectional design and collected data using self-administered questionnaires. The hypotheses were analyzed using the smart partial least squares (Smart-PLS) structural equation modeling method with a dataset containing 503 valid responses. Subsequently, comprehensive data analysis was conducted.

Results

Blogger and video quality factors present in health science popularization videos substantially influenced users' perceived value (p < 0.001). Furthermore, users' expectancy confirmation exerted a positive influence on both users' perceived value (p < 0.001) and satisfaction (p < 0.01). Perceived value, in turn, positively impacted satisfaction (p < 0.001) and pleasure (p < 0.001). User satisfaction (p < 0.001) and pleasure (p < 0.001) directly enhanced trust, which, in turn, significantly and directly impacted continuous usage intention (p < 0.001).

Discussion

This study offers both theoretical and practical insights into enhancing the quality of health science popularization videos. From a theoretical perspective, it expands upon the cognitive-affective-conative and expectation-confirmation model theoretical frameworks, enriches the theoretical model, and offers theoretical references for future research in this domain. From a practical perspective, enhancing the overall quality of health science popularization content significantly influences users' perceived value, emotional engagement, and continued usage intention to engage with the content.

Bibliometric and visualization analysis of risk management in the doctor-patient relationship: A systematic quantitative literature review

OBJECTIVES

This paper analyzed the research on risk management in the doctor-patient relationship (DPR) based on a systematic quantitative literature review approach using bibliometric software. It aims to uncover potential information about current research and predict future research hotspots and trends.

METHODS

We conducted a comprehensive search for relevant publications in the Scopus database and the Web of Science Core Collection database from January 1, 2000 to December 31, 2023. We analyzed the data using CiteSpace 6.2.R2 and VOSviewer 1.6.19 software to examine the annual number of publications, countries/regions, journals, citations, authors, and keywords in the field.

RESULTS

A total of 553 articles and reviews that met the criteria were included in this study. There is an overall upward trend in the number of publications issued; in terms of countries/regions, the United States and the United Kingdom are the largest contributors; Patient Education and Counseling is the most productive journal (17); Physician communication and patient adherence to treatment: a meta-analysis is the most cited article (1637); the field has not yet to form a stable and obvious core team; the analysis of high-frequency keywords revealed four main research directions: the causes of DPR risks, coping strategies, measurement tools, and research related to people prone to doctor-patient risk characteristics; the causes of DPR risks, coping strategies, measurement tools, and research related to people prone to doctor-patient risk characteristics; the keyword burst analysis revealed several shifts in the research hotspots for risk management in the DPR, suggesting that chronic disease management, is a future research direction for the continued development of risk management in the DPR.

CONCLUSIONS

The visualization analysis of risk management literature in the DPR using CiteSpace and VOSviewer software provides insights into the current research status and highlights future research directions.

A comparative study of bibliometric analysis on old adults' cognitive impairment based on Web of Science and CNKI via CiteSpace

INTRODUCTION

The purpose of this study was to analyze the current status, the research hot spots and frontiers of cognitive impairment (CI) on old adults from 2012 to 2022 based on Web of Science (WoS) and China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) via CiteSpace, and provide new in-sights for researchers.

METHODS

The articles regarding the old adults' CI in the WoS and CNKI were retrieved from 2012 to 2022. CiteSpaceV.6.1.R4 was used to generate network maps.

RESULTS

Four thousand seven hundred thirteen publications and 304 publications from CNKI were retrieved. Overall, from 2012 to 2022, the trend of articles published in WoS and CNKI were increasing. Data from WoS showed that USA, University of California, Petersen RC were the most influential country, institution and author respectively; Folstein MF, Neurology and a diagnosis guideline of mild CI were the most cited author, journal and reference separately; while the keywords of CI could be summarized in 3 aspects: related disease and symptom, risk factors, manifestations. Data from CNKI illustrated that Peking Union Medical College, Dan Liu were the most influential institution and scholar respectively, while the keywords of CI could be summarized in 3 aspects: related disease and symptoms, risk factors, intervention.

CONCLUSION

Articles published on old adults' CI were drawing an increasing amount of attention from 2012 to 2022 both in WoS and CNKI. Keywords of CI in WoS and CNKI both focused on risk factors, related disease and symptom, yet WoS contributed more to the mechanism and CNKI contributed more to the intervention.

The Application of Deep Brain Stimulation for Parkinson's Disease on the Motor Pathway: A Bibliometric Analysis across 10 Years

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE

Since its initial report by James Parkinson in 1817, Parkinson's disease (PD) has remained a central subject of research and clinical advancement. The disease is estimated to affect approximately 1% of adults aged 60 and above. Deep brain stimulation, emerging as an alternative therapy for end-stage cases, has offered a lifeline to numerous patients. This review aimed to analyze publications pertaining to the impact of deep brain stimulation on the motor pathway in patients with PD over the last decade.

METHODS

Data were obtained from the Web of Science Core Collection through the library of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (China). The search strategy encompassed the following keywords: "deep brain stimulation", "Parkinson's disease", "motor pathway", and "human", from January 1, 2012, to December 1, 2022. Additionally, this review visualized the findings using the Citespace software.

RESULTS

The results indicated that the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, and China were the primary contributors to this research field. University College London, Capital Medical University, and Maastricht University were the top 3 research institutions in the research area. Tom Foltynie ranked first with 6 publications, and the journals of Brain and Brain Stimulation published the greatest number of relevant articles. The prevailing research focal points in this domain, as determined by keywords "burst analysis", "encompassed neuronal activity", "nucleus", "hyper direct pathway", etc. CONCLUSION: This study has provided a new perspective through bibliometric analysis of the deep brain stimulation therapy for treating patients with PD, which can shed light on future research to advance our comprehension of this particular field of study.

Farm Animal Welfare Is a Field of Interest in China: A Bibliometric Analysis Based on CiteSpace

Farm animal welfare research conducted in China is not commonly accessed or known outside of China, which may lead to the assumption that farm animal welfare receives relatively little attention in China. Therefore, a bibliometric analysis was conducted on the existing Chinese farm animal welfare literature to provide robust evidence to refute this assumption. A total of 1312 peer-reviewed Chinese studies on farm animal welfare published between March 1992 and June 2023 were retrieved from the Web of Science (WoS) and the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) database. CiteSpace software was used to analyze and visualize the number, species, authors, institutions, journals, and keywords of the papers. In China, farm animal welfare research has gone through the processes of an early stage (1992-2001), rapid-growth stage (2002-2007), and mature stage (2008-present), and the scale of research continues to grow. Notably, swine and chickens have received priority attention in this area. A Matthew effect was observed for authors and institutions, with relatively little collaboration among authors and institutions. Most of the papers were published in a small number of journals, with an apparent agglomeration characteristic. The research hotspots, summarized as "feed and diet", "environmental impacts and control", "integrated rearing management", "injury and disease", "behavior and technologies for behavior monitoring", "genetic analysis", "welfare during transport and slaughter", "welfare-friendly animal product consumption", "attitudes toward farm animal welfare", and "healthy breeding". The keywords "computer vision", "recognition", "temperature", "precision livestock farming", "laying hen", and "behavior", represent the major research frontiers in the field, which could indicate potential areas of significant future research. The findings of the present bibliometric analysis confirm the fact that farm animal welfare is a field of interest in China. Farm animal welfare research in China tends to be pragmatic, with a strong emphasis on enhancing growth and production performance, as well as product quality, rather than solely concentrating on improving farm animal welfare. This paper provides insightful references that researchers can use to identify and understand the current status and future direction of the farm animal welfare field in China.

Bibliometric analysis of RNA vaccines for cancer

Cancer represents a challenging medical problem worldwide. Several exploratory studies have been conducted to overcome these limitations. RNA vaccines play an important role in cancer prevention and treatment. Recent studies have shown that RNA vaccines play an important role in cancer prevention. However, there are currently no relevant bibliometric studies. This study aimed to apply bibliometrics to summarize the knowledge structure and research hotspots regarding the role of RNA vaccines in cancer. Publications related to RNA vaccines in cancer were searched on the web of science core collection (WoSCC) database. VOSviewers, CiteSpace and R package "bibliometrix" were used to conduct this bibliometric analysis. A total of 1399 articles were included, comprising 803 original articles and 596 reviews. The number of studies on RNA vaccines against cancer has been increasing annually. China and the United States were the principal countries of origin of publications. Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, NCI, and Duke University were the main organizations. Frontiers in Immunology is the leading journal in the field. Hot keywords included tumor antigens, lipid nanoparticles, emerging roles, and dendritic cells. This is the bibliometric study to summarize the research trends and development of RNA vaccines for cancer. This information will provide a reference for researchers studying RNA vaccines against cancer.

Trends in research on acute lung injury/acute respiratory distress syndrome associated with viral pneumonia from 1992 to 2022: a 31-year bibliometric analysis

Purpose

Acute lung injury/acute respiratory distress syndrome (ALI/ARDS) is a dangerous symptom in patients with severe viral pneumonia. This study aims to comprehensively review the cooperation and influence of countries, institutions, authors and co-cited journals/authors/references and keywords in the field of ALI/ARDS associated with viral pneumonia from the perspective of bibliometrics, evaluate the clustering evolution of knowledge structure, and find hot trends and emerging topics.

Methods

Publications on ALI/ARDS associated with viral pneumonia published from January 1, 1992 to December 31, 2022 were extracted from the Web of Science core collection. The document type was limited to original article or review, with the language set to English. Citespace was used to conduct the bibliometric analysis.

Results

A total of 929 articles were included, and the number of them generally increased over time. The countries with the most published articles in this field are the United States (320 papers) and Fudan University is the institution (15 papers) with the most research results. The New England Journal of Medicine was the most frequently co-cited journal, while the most influential co-cited journal was American Journal of Clinical Pathology. Reinout A Bem and Cao Bin were the most prolific author, but there was no leader in this field. The keywords with both high frequency and high centrality were "pneumonia" (Freq = 169, Central = 0.15), "infection" (Freq = 133, Central = 0.15), "acute lung injury" (Freq = 112, Central = 0.18), "respiratory distress syndrome" (Freq = 108, Central = 0.24), and "disease" (Freq = 61, Central = 0.17). "Failure" was the first keyword with citation bursts. Meanwhile, "coronavirus," "cytokine storm" and "respiratory syndrome coronavirus" continue to burst.

Conclusion

Although there was a surge in literature since 2020, attentions to ALI/ARDS associated with viral pneumonia were still insufficient over last three decades. The communication and cooperation among countries, institutions and authors need to be further strengthened.

Medical decision-making for adolescents with depression: A bibliometric study and visualization analysis via CiteSpace

This study focussed on evaluating the status of recent research on medical decision-making for adolescents with depression and identifying research hotspots and frontiers via CiteSpace. We extracted studies that were concerned with medical decision-making for adolescents with depression from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC), covering the period from 1 January 1999 to 20 September 2022. We used CiteSpace to generate online maps of worldwide cooperation among countries, institutions, and authors. Hotspots and frontiers were systematically summarized. A total of 368 papers related to medical decision-making for adolescents with depression were obtained from WoSCC. The most prolific author was Nick Midgley (seven papers). The United States and University College London were the leading country and institution in this research area, with 177 and 17 papers, respectively. Countries, institutions, and authors all actively collaborated. Main recent research trends include the preference or attitude towards medical treatment in adolescents with depression; approaches for adolescents with depression to seeking medical help; and the key role of parent, family, and primary care in medical decision-making for adolescents. Thus, further attention should be paid to determining how to promote the role of parents, families, and primary care in the decision-making process and create appropriate online help-seeking tools and decision aids to facilitate shared decision-making in the future.

The impact of perceived value and affection on Chinese residents' continuous use intention of mobile health science information: An empirical study

Introduction

Disseminating health science information via the internet has become an essential means for improving Chinese residents' health literacy, which has received constant attention from the Chinese government. Therefore, it is important to explore Chinese residents' perceived value and emotional response to mobile health science information for determining Chinese residents' satisfaction and use intention.

Methods

This study applied the cognition-affect-conation model to evaluate the perceived value, arousal, pleasure, trust, satisfaction, and continuous use intention. A mobile device was used to obtain health science information from 236 Chinese residents via an online survey and the data were analyzed using partial least squares (PLS)-structural equation modeling.

Results

The results showed that Chinese residents' perceived value of health science information obtained using the mobile device directly affect the degree of arousal (β = 0.412, P < 0.001), pleasure (β = 0.215, P < 0.01), and trust (β = 0.339, P < 0.001). The degree of arousal (β = 0.121, P < 0.01), pleasure (β = 0.188, P < 0.01), and trust (β = 0.619, P < 0.001) directly affected Chinese residents' satisfaction, which further affected their continuous use intention (β = 0.513, P < 0.001). Similarly, trust directly affected Chinese residents' continuous use intention (β = 0.323, P < 0.001). The degree of arousal directly affected their degree of pleasure (β = 0.304, P < 0.001), and pleasure also imposed a direct effect on trust (β = 0.293, P < 0.001).

Discussion

The result of this study provided an academic and practical reference to improve mobile health science popularization information. Affective changes have imposed an important effect on Chinese residents' continuous use intention. High-quality, diversified and frequent use of health science information can significantly increase residents' continuous use intention, improving their health literacy as a consequence.

Insights Into the Relationships Between Health Communication and Doctor-patient Relationship: A Scientometric Analysis Based on CiteSpace and Validation of Questionnaires

In order to understand the research status of the relationship between health communication and doctor-patient relationship, and to explore a new path of the impact of health communication on doctor-patient relationship, this paper adopted qualitative methods to quantize the literature over the past 10 years in the Web of Science database and carried out Co-Authorship Analysis, Co-Citation Analysis and Co-Occurrence Analysis based on CiteSpace. In addition, according to the results of bibliometric research, self-designed questionnaires were used to verify the result. A convenience sampling survey was conducted through the online "Questionnaire Star" platform (https://www.wjx.cn) on May 8, 2022, and a total of 254 questionnaires were collected. Interviewees were asked to use social software to acquire health knowledge. Participants come from 21 provinces, 4 municipalities, and 4 autonomous regions across the country, which is geographically representative. The results show that uncertainty of social media information and the particularity of the epidemic make the research on health communication and doctor-patient relationship in social media become a new hot spot. Social media health information quality (source credibility and content trust perception), information asymmetry perception, doctor-patient communication, doctor-patient consistency, doctor-patient trust, doctor-patient relationship may be the key variables for constructing theoretical models.

A bibliometric analysis of the global trends and hotspots for the ketogenic diet based on CiteSpace

The ketogenic diet (KD) is a potential nutritional therapy that is frequently utilized in various conditions. More and more studies are being done on KD in recent years. However, as far as we know, few studies have made an effort to offer a thorough synthesis and assessment of this topic. This paper aims to do a rigorous and thorough evaluation of the knowledge structure, development trend, and research hotspot of scientific outputs connected to KD. The bibliographic records connected to KD from January 1, 2001 to April 22, 2022 were collected using the core collection database of Web of Science. The complex data input, that consisted of the amount of publications, journals, authors, institutions, countries, keywords and cited references, was generated and analyzed visually using CiteSpace. A total of 2676 literatures on the KD were published between 2001 and 2022. The most KD-related publications were found in Epilepsia and Epilepsia Research. The authors with the most KD-related papers are Kossoff EH and Rho J. The United States is the country with the most publications, and Johns Hopkins University, Johns Hopkins University Hospital, and Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions are the institutions with the most articles. The high frequency keywords are "KD," "ketone body," "children," "efficacy," "weight loss," "low carbohydrate diet," "metabolism," "epilepsy," "beta hydroxybutyrate," and "modified atkins diet." The 2018 study by Kossoff EH on epilepsia and the 2017 study by Puchalska P on ketone body metabolism earned 127 and 114 citations, respectively. The results of this bibliometric analysis provide information on the state and trends in KD and may be used by researchers to pinpoint hot issues and discover new areas of study.

The landscape of endodontic education research area: A bibliometric analysis

OBJECTIVES

Educational research is essential for rationalizing curriculum design, improving evaluation systems, and updating teaching content. This bibliometric study aimed at analyzing the characteristics of publications relevant to endodontic education, thus forming a comprehensive scope of this research area.

METHODS

The search was conducted in the Web of Science Core Collection database in May 2022. Knowledge units of the included publications, such as year of publication, journal, country/institution/author, keywords, and highly cited articles/references, were analyzed.

RESULTS

The United States ranked first in the number of articles with a total of 17 articles. The majority of included articles were published in Journal of Dental Education (n = 25), International Endodontic Journal (n = 21), and European Journal of Dental Education (n = 14). The top 3 most frequent keywords were Endodontics, Education, and Root canal treatment. The main topic in endodontic education were curriculum, preclinical education, educational technology, and continuing education.

CONCLUSION

Forming a full scope of the endodontic research area, this bibliomertic analysis can help mine the hot topic, predict the frontiers in the field and provide the data necessary to determine the direction of research, rationalize resource allocation, and formulate policy.

A bibliometric and visual analysis of low carbohydrate diet

Introduction

Numerous studies have confirmed the effects of low carbohydrate diet (LChD) on metabolism and chronic diseases. However, there were no bibliometric studies on LChD. This study was conducted through a bibliometric analysis to investigate the current status, hotspots and frontiers trends.

Methods

We searched all research publications related to LChD from 2002 to 2021 on the Web of Scientific Core Collection (WoSCC). CiteSpace and VOSviewer software was used to analyze countries/regions, institutions, journals, authors, references, and keywords.

Results

A total of 6938 papers were included, with an increasing trend of annual publication. LChD categories mainly included nutrition, endocrinology, and neurosciences which reflected the interdisciplinary characteristics. USA was with the largest number and the world science center in LChD field. Universities were main research institutions and five of the top 10 institutions were from USA. Eric Heath Kossoff had 101 publications and ranked first. Nutrients was the leading journal. "A randomized trial of a low-carbohydrate diet for obesity" and "Obesity" were considered to be the most co-cited and cited reference respectively. The hotspots of LChD are four aspects, "ketogenic diet", "metabolism disease", "cardiovascular disease" and "cancer". We summarized that "oxidative stress", "gut microbiota", and "inflammation factors" are becoming frontiers trends of LChD research in the future and deserve further study.

Discussion

Over the past 20 years research on LChD has gained great attention. To better explore LChD field, multilevel mechanism studies will be required in the future.

Hot spots and frontiers of postpartum depression research in the past 5 years: A bibliometric analysis

Objective

This study applied the bibliometric method to analyze the hotspots and frontiers in the field of postpartum depression research from 2017 to 2021.

Methods

A computer-based search for studies related to postpartum depression (PPD) was conducted in the Web of Science Core Collection from 2017 to 2021. Using CiteSpace 5.8. R3 visualization software, this paper analyzed the hot spots and frontiers of postpartum depression research from countries, institutions, authors, cited references and keywords, and drew corresponding knowledge maps.

Results

A total of 3,789 articles were retrieved, and the annual publication volume showed a steady increase. The countries and institutions with the most publications were the United States and the University of Toronto, respectively. Cindylee Dennis was the most productive author. The most frequently cited and centrally cited articles were meta-analyses on risk factors associated with antenatal depression or anxiety and meta-analyses on the prevalence of antenatal or postnatal anxiety, respectively. The research hotspots in the field of postpartum depression in the past 5 years mainly focused on the risk factors for PPD, and the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic on PPD. Providing various aspects of social and family support to women with PPD may be a research trend in this field.

Conclusion

This study provides a trend and frontier in the field of postpartum depression, and valuable information for researchers to find potential partners and partner countries, and a reference for future research topics and development directions.

Global research trends on inflammatory bowel diseases and colorectal cancer: A bibliometric and visualized study from 2012 to 2021

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a chronic non-specific inflammatory disease of intestinal tract and a common digestive system disease. Current studies have shown that IBD significantly increases the incidence of colorectal cancer (CRC), and is positively correlated with the degree and extent of inflammation of IBD. The relationship between IBD and CRC has attracted extensive attention. However, the relationship between IBD and CRC has not been systematically studied by bibliometrics and visual analysis. This study conducted bibliometric analysis based on 3528 publications from the Core Collection of Web of Science to determine the research status, research hotspots and frontiers of this field. The results show that the number of publications has increased significantly over the past 10 years. The cooperative network analysis shows that the United States, Mayo Clin and Bo Shen are the country, institution and author with the most publications respectively. Belgium, Icahn Sch Med Mt Sinai and Erik Mooiweer are the most collaborative country, institution and author respectively. Analysis of keywords and references showed that inflammation, intestinal flora, and obesity were hot topics in this field. Analysis of keyword outbreaks shows that the gut microbiome and metabolism will be an emerging new research area and a potential hot spot for future research. This study is the first to visually examine the association between IBD and CRC using bibliometrics and visual analysis, and to predict potential future research trends.

Bibliometric and visual analysis of mesenchymal stem cells in the treatment of osteoporosis based on CiteSpace software

BACKGROUND

The focus of research in the treatment of osteoporosis (OP) has evolved from promoting bone formation and inhibiting bone resorption to current stem cell therapy. Due to their multipotent differentiation properties, mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) can repair degenerated bones through transplantation, and have become a new method for the treatment of OP.

METHODS

Relevant literatures included in the Web of Science database core collection database from 2012 to 2021 were retrieved. CiteSpace software was used to analyze the cooperative relationship among authors, journals, institutions, and countries, and to analyze the co-citation situation of the literature. And performed co-occurrence analysis, cluster analysis and burst analysis of keywords, draw visual maps and analyzed the results.

RESULTS

A total of 2100 papers were included, and the number of papers published from 2012 to 2021 was on the rise. A total of 484 authors were included, and 176 authors published more than 3 papers. The high-yield authors were mainly represented by YAN JIN and BO GAO. A total of 99 journals were included, and the journal with the most publications was J BONE MINER RES. A total of 787 institutions were included, and the institution with the largest number of publications was Shanghai Jiao Tong University. A total of 65 countries were included. The country with the largest number of publications was China, and the United States had the highest centrality. The co-citation analysis of the literature found 2 articles with high citation frequency and high centrality. The main research direction was the mechanism of MSCs in the treatment of osteoporosis. A total of 133 keywords were included, and the hot keywords were osteogenic differentiation, expression, proliferation, bone marrow, etc.

CONCLUSIONS

The research hotspots in this field mainly focused on the mechanism of bone regeneration, proliferation and osteogenic differentiation of bone marrow MSCs, and the expression of osteogenic-related genes. The future research trends in this field are predicted to be the mechanism of action of microRNA and long non-coding RNA on MSCs and their relationship with OP, the mechanism of MSCs adipogenic and osteogenic differentiation, and tissue engineering scaffolds applications.

A Bibliometric Analysis on Research Regarding Residential Segregation and Health Based on CiteSpace

Considerable scholarly attention has been directed to the adverse health effects caused by residential segregation. We aimed to visualize the state-of-the-art residential segregation and health research to provide a reference for follow-up studies. Employing the CiteSpace software, we uncovered popular themes, research hotspots, and frontiers based on an analysis of 1211 English-language publications, including articles and reviews retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection database from 1998 to 2022. The results revealed: (1) The Social Science & Medicine journal has published the most studies. Roland J. Thorpe, Thomas A. LaVeist, Darrell J. Gaskin, David R. Williams, and others are the leading scholars in residential segregation and health research. The University of Michigan, Columbia University, Harvard University, the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, and the University of North Carolina play the most important role in current research. The U.S. is the main publishing country with significant academic influence. (2) Structural racism, COVID-19, mortality, multilevel modelling, and environmental justice are the top five topic clusters. (3) The research frontier of residential segregation and health has significantly shifted from focusing on community, poverty, infant mortality, and social class to residential environmental exposure, structural racism, and health care. We recommend strengthening comparative research on the health-related effects of residential segregation on minority groups in different socio-economic and cultural contexts.

Mapping the global research landscape and hotspot of exercise therapy and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: A bibliometric study based on the web of science database from 2011 to 2020

Background: The application of exercise therapy (ET) in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is generating increasing clinical efficacy and social-economic value. In this study, research trends, evolutionary processes and hot topics in this field are detailed, as well as predictions of future development directions.

Methods: Search for literature in the field of COPD and ET and analyze data to generate knowledge graphs using VOSiewer and CiteSpace software. The time frame for the search was from 2011 to January 2021. Then we extracted full-text key information (such as title, journal category, publication date, author, country and institution, abstract, and keyword) and obtained the co-citation analysis. Use hierarchal clustering analysis software developed by VOSviewer to map common citations, and use Citespace software to plot trend networks.

Results: The United States topped the list with 27.91% of the number of articles posted, followed by the UK at 25.44%. Imperial College London was the highest number of article publications in institutions, followed by Maastricht University and the University of Toronto. The Royal Brompton Harefield NHS Foundation Trust was one of many research institutions and currently holds the highest average citations per item (ACI) value, followed by Imperial College London and the University of Leuven. Judging from the number of publications related to ET and COPD, it is mainly published in cell biology, respiratory pulmonary diseases, and rehabilitation experiments study medicine. The European Respiration Journal is the most widely published in this field, followed by the International Journal of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and Respiratory Medicine.

Conclusion: COPD combined with ET is widely used in clinical practice and is on the rise. A distinctive feature of the field is multidisciplinary integration. Rehabilitation research for COPD involves multidisciplinary collaboration, tissue engineering, and molecular biology mechanism studies to help patients remodel healthy breathing. Multidisciplinary rehabilitation measures provide a solid foundation for advancing clinical efficacy in the field of COPD.

A Bibliometric and Visualization Analysis of Intermittent Fasting

CiteSpace software was utilized to visually analyze the literature on intermittent fasting from Web of Science from 2000 to 2020 in order to reveal the current status, research hotspots and emerging trends of intermittent fasting. The results show that: (1) intermittent fasting research results are increasing year by year; (2) the United States is at the core of this field and has a high influence; (3) intermittent fasting research is mainly concentrated in the fields of nutrition, cell biology and kinesiology, which embodies interdisciplinary characteristics; (4) the literature of Sutton, Mattson and Trepanowski that were published in the same period have the highest co-citation frequencies, however, their research perspectives are quite different, reflecting that the research in this field is still in a state of continuous development; (5) from the perspective of citation bursts, the evolution of research hotspots in this field in the last 20 years can be divided into 3 stages; (6) the keyword timeline mapping shows that time restricted feeding is at the forefront of this research field. This study can help researchers explore the field for the first time to quickly grasp the frontiers and obtain more valuable data, thereby providing facilitation for the follow-up research.

Bibliometric Analysis of Health Technology Research: 1990~2020

This paper aims to summarize the publishing trends, current status, research topics, and frontier evolution trends of health technology between 1990 and 2020 through various bibliometric analysis methods. In total, 6663 articles retrieved from the Web of Science core database were analyzed by Vosviewer and CiteSpace software. This paper found that: (1) The number of publications in the field of health technology increased exponentially; (2) there is no stable core group of authors in this research field, and the influence of the publishing institutions and journals in China is insufficient compared with those in Europe and the United States; (3) there are 21 core research topics in the field of health technology research, and these research topics can be divided into four classes: hot spots, potential hot spots, margin topics, and mature topics. C21 (COVID-19 prevention) and C10 (digital health technology) are currently two emerging research topics. (4) The number of research frontiers has increased in the past five years (2016-2020), and the research directions have become more diverse; rehabilitation, pregnancy, e-health, m-health, machine learning, and patient engagement are the six latest research frontiers.

Research trends in college students' sleep from 2012 to 2021: A bibliometric analysis

BACKGROUND

A great proportion of college students experience various sleep problems, which damage their health and study performance. College students' sleep problems, which are caused by several factors, have been easily ignored before. In the past decade, more research has been published to expand our understanding of undergraduates' sleep. The purpose of the study is to explore the research hotspots and frontiers regarding college students' sleep using CiteSpace5.8.R3 and offer guidance for future study.

METHODS

We retrieved relevant literature from the Web of Science Core Collection Database and imputed the downloaded files into CiteSpace5.8.R3 for visualization analysis. We generated network maps of the collaborations between authors, countries, institutions, the cited journals, and co-occurrence keywords. The analysis of keywords clusters, timeline views, and keywords citation bursts help us identify the hotspots and research trends.

RESULTS

A total of 1,841 articles related to college students' sleep, published from 2012 to 2021, were selected. The number of publications gradually increased. Karl Peltzer was the most prolific authors with 15 publications. The United States and Harvard University separately contributed 680 and 40 articles and had the greatest impact in this field. SLEEP ranked first in the frequency of cited journals. The article published by Lund HG was the most influential publication. Based on the analysis of keywords, we summarized research hotspots as follows: current status, affecting factors, and adverse outcomes of college students' sleep. The frontiers were the further understanding of the relationships between sleep and mental and physical health, and various interventions for sleep disorders.

CONCLUSION

Our study illustrates the research hotspots and trends and calls for more research to expand the findings. In the future, the cooperation between institutions and authors needs to be strengthened. The complex relationships between sleep and mental and physical health and problematic substance use disorders are necessary to be explored. Longitudinal studies or randomized controlled trials should be constructed to verify the current findings or assumptions.
