The Effect of Organizational Trust on Turnover Intention of Rural Kindergarten Teachers: The Mediating Role of Teaching Efficacy and Job Satisfaction

Chinese Rural Kindergarten Teachers' Work-Family Conflict and Their Turnover Intention: The Role of Emotional Exhaustion and Professional Identity

The loss of rural kindergarten teachers has become a common social concern in China, which is of great importance to the development of preschool education. This study conducted a survey of 2944 kindergarten teachers in mainland China, to explore the relationship between work-family conflict and turnover intention, the mediating effect of emotional exhaustion, and the moderating effect of professional identity. The study used the work-family conflict questionnaire, the emotional exhaustion scale, the turnover intention questionnaire, and the professional identity questionnaire. The results showed that (1) work-family conflict significantly predicted turnover intention; (2) emotional exhaustion played a mediating role between work-family conflict and turnover intention; and (3) professional identity moderated the latter half path of the mediation model, that is, strong professional identity alleviated the indirect predicting effect of work-family conflict on turnover intention through emotional exhaustion. The results clarified the influencing mechanism of work-family conflict on turnover intention, which could help improve rural preschool teachers' positive emotions and reducing turnover.

The Relationship between Organizational Climate and Teaching Innovation among Preschool Teachers: The Mediating Effect of Teaching Efficacy

Preschool teachers' teaching innovation is an important factor in enhancing teaching quality and improving children's creativity. Based on ecological systems theory and self-determination theory, the purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between kindergartens' organizational climate and preschool teachers' teaching innovation and the mediating role of teaching efficacy in it. In this study, an online questionnaire was distributed to 2092 preschool teachers from different provinces using an Organizational Climate Scale, Teaching Efficacy Scale, and Teaching Innovation Scale. The study used SPSS 25.0 software and the SPSS PROCESS macro program for data processing. The results showed that there was a positive correlation among kindergartens' organizational climate, teaching efficacy, and teaching innovation, and that kindergartens' organizational climate not only directly and positively predicted teaching innovation, but also indirectly predicted teaching innovation through the mediating role of teaching efficacy. The study explored the internal and external influences on preschool teachers' teaching innovation and revealed their underlying mechanisms, providing theoretical support for research and educational practice on preschool teachers' teaching innovation and children's creativity.

Authenticity: Effective emotional labor strategies on teaching efficacy of university teachers in China

Based on the job demands-resources model, this study explored the relationships among emotional labor strategies, job demands of teaching, job resources, and teaching efficacy for university teachers. The results, based on a sample of 316 university teachers from China, showed that the teachers preferred to convey authenticity by expressing deep acting and naturally felt emotion. Furthermore, deep acting and naturally felt emotions were found to have a significant positive effect on teaching efficacy, whereas surface acting did not have any significant relationship with teaching efficacy. As organizational variables, job demands significantly positively affected surface acting, deep acting, and naturally felt emotion. In contrast, job resources positively affected surface and deep acting, but no significant relationship with naturally felt emotions was found. These results highlight that university teachers from China could benefit from adopting authentic emotional labor strategies, specifically deep acting and naturally felt emotions, as the most effective strategies in teaching. Based on the above findings, this paper concludes with recommendations for university administrators to alleviate the emotional labor of college faculty. For example, universities should pay more attention to teachers' emotional state, provide resources to support them, and give more space and support to college teachers in teaching.

The relationship between work-family conflict and job satisfaction for preschool teachers in rural China: a moderated mediation model

Background

Job satisfaction for preschool teachers in rural areas has an important impact on their professional development, physical and mental health, and the development of preschool education. However, few studies have explored the factors that influence rural preschool teachers' job satisfaction.

Purpose

This study aims to examine the influence of rural preschool teachers' work-family conflict on their job satisfaction, and the mediating effect of occupational identity, the moderating effect of social support.

Method

Participants included 3,065 rural preschool teachers from Zhejiang Province in mainland China. Teachers completed questionnaires on work-family conflict, occupational identity, job satisfaction, and social support. The correlation and moderated mediation analyses were conducted using SPSS PROCESS.

Results

(1) work-family conflict is associated with poorer job satisfaction in preschool teachers; (2) occupational identity mediates the relationship between work-family conflict and job satisfaction; and (3) a high level of social support alleviates the negative influence of work-family conflict on job satisfaction and promotes the positive effect of occupational identity on job satisfaction.

Conclusion

The study revealed the negative impact of work-family conflict on preschool teachers' job satisfaction, and the protecting effect of social support, which has important implications for improving teachers' future job satisfaction.
