Abstract
BACKGROUND Late-life depression is a serious mental health problem. Behavioral Activation (BA) is an effective, accessible psychotherapeutic treatment for older adults. However, little is known about which symptoms decrease and how associations between depressive symptoms change during BA treatment. METHODS Using data from a cluster-randomized trial for older adults with late-life depression, we estimated a partial correlation network and a relative importance network of depressive symptoms before and after 8 weeks of BA treatment in primary care (n = 96). Networks were examined with measures of network structure, connectivity, centrality as well as stability. RESULTS The most central symptoms at baseline and post-treatment were anhedonia, fatigue, and feeling depressed. In contrast, sleeping problems had the lowest centrality. The post-treatment network was significantly more interconnected than at baseline. Moreover, all symptoms were significantly more central at post-treatment. CONCLUSION Our findings highlight the utility of the network approach to better understand symptom networks of depressed older adults before and after BA treatment. Results show that network connectivity and centrality of all symptoms increased after treatment. Future studies should investigate longitudinal idiographic networks to explore symptom dynamics within individuals over time.

Abstract
Objective This research dealt with investigating and measuring the contribution of the factors that impact depression in older adults living alone vs. those living with others (hereafter referred to as "not alone") in China. Design This investigation adopts a cross-sectional research design. The dataset employed for this study comprises data from 2018 the Chinese Longitudinal Health Longevity Survey (CLHLS). Setting The research involved data sourced from China, specifically from 23 of its provinces. From the 8th CLHLS, 12,197 older adults were selected who met the study requirements. Measures Binary logistic regression models were established to delve into the primary factors impacting the depressive symptoms of the individuals. Furthermore, Fairlie models were employed to assess these factors between older adults living alone and those not living alone. This approach facilitated an in-depth analysis of their respective contributions. Results It was observed that the demographic of Chinese older adults exhibited depressive symptoms at a rate of 11.92%. Older adults who resided alone (15.76%) exhibited a higher prevalence of depressive symptoms in comparison to their counterparts living in not-alone settings (11.15%). Employing Fairlie decomposition analysis, it was determined that this observed disparity in depressive symptoms, amounting to 55.33% of the overall difference, could be primarily attributed to distinct factors. This encompassed variance in marital status (20.55%), years of school (4.63%), self-reported local income status (7.25%), self-reported sleep status (17.56%), and self-reported health status (4.24%). Conclusion The resulting data indicated that depressive symptoms exhibited an elevated prevalence in older adults living alone than in those living not alone. This discrepancy was predominantly attributed to variance in socioeconomic marital status, years of school, self-reported local income status, self-reported sleep status, and self-reported health status by living alone vs. not alone. Mitigating these influential factors could help develop targeted and meticulous intervention strategies, precisely tailored to improve the mental well-being of older adults at high risk.

Abstract
Background Nurses in Ophthalmology Department (OD) had a high risk of infection during the novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. This study examined the prevalence, correlates, and network structure of depression, and explored its association with quality of life (QOL) in Chinese OD nurses. Methods Based on a cross-sectional survey, demographic and clinical data were collected. Depression was measured with the 9-item Self-reported Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9), and QOL was measured using the World Health Organization Quality of Life Questionnaire-brief version (WHOQOL-BREF). Univariate analyses, multivariate logistic regression analyses, and network analyses were performed. Results Altogether, 2,155 OD nurses were included. The overall prevalence of depression among OD nurses was 32.71% (95%CI: 30.73-34.70%). Multiple logistic regression analysis revealed that having family or friends or colleagues who were infected (OR = 1.760, p = 0.003) was significantly associated with higher risk of depression. After controlling for covariates, nurses with depression reported lower QOL (F(1, 2,155) = 596.784, p < 0.001) than those without depression. Network analyses revealed that 'Sad Mood', 'Energy Loss' and 'Worthlessness' were the key central symptoms. Conclusion Depression was common among OD nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic. Considering the negative impact of depression on QOL and daily life, regular screening for depression, timely counselling service, and psychiatric treatment should be provided for OD nurses, especially those who had infected family/friends or colleagues. Central symptoms identified in network analysis should be targeted in the treatment of depression.

Abstract
Objective This study aimed to understand the real-life experiences of Tibetans in China with dysfunction in the process of accepting assistive device services and to provide a reference for service quality improvement and policy formulation. Methods Semi-structured personal interviews were used to collect data. Ten Tibetans with dysfunction representing three categories of different economic level areas in Lhasa, Tibet were selected to participate in the study by purposive sampling method from September to December 2021. The data were analyzed using Colaizzi's seven-step method. Results The results present three themes and seven sub-themes: identification of tangible benefits from assistive devices (enhancing self-care ability for persons with dysfunction, assisting family members with caregiving and promoting harmonious family relationships), problems and burdens (difficulty in accessing professional services and cumbersome processes, not knowing how to use it correctly, psychological burden: fear of falling and stigmatization), and needs and expectations (providing social support to reduce the cost of use, enhancing the accessibility of barrier-free facilities at the grassroots level and improving the environment for the use of assistive devices). Conclusion A proper understanding of the problems and challenges faced by Tibetans with dysfunction in the process of accepting assistive device services, focusing on the real-life experiences of people with functional impairment, and proposing targeted suggestions for improving and optimizing the user experience can provide reference and basis for future intervention studies and related policy formulation.
