Abstract
BACKGROUND Postpartum depression is a public health problem that affects a considerable percentage of women. Despite the proliferation of related apps, there are limited data available on the best apps to prevent postpartum depression. We identified which apps available in Spanish could be recommended by midwives based on their content, quality, and behaviour change techniques, as a complementary tool for preventing postpartum depression in women. METHODS A systematic search was performed to identify apps available on iOS App Store and Google Play, which were used to replicate how patients' access "postpartum depression prevention" apps. Apps' quality, behaviour change potential, and contents were assessed. RESULTS A total of 1408 apps were identified, of which 7 were retrieved for assessment (0.5%). The mean objective and subject quality were 3.1 (SD = 1.01) and 2.7 (SD = 1.27), respectively. A total of 24 topics were identified. The mean ABACUS score was 6.6 (SD = 3.64), and the mean number of topics addressed by the apps was 9.9 (SD = 5.90). CONCLUSION The results of the present study suggest that a specific free app is not available in Spanish for the prevention of postpartum depression, and only a small percentage of free apps should be recommended based on their quality, BCTs, and contents. The systematic review protocol was not registered.

Abstract
This systematic review and meta-analysis examines the effectiveness of science-based mobile apps for reducing anxiety. A systematic review was employed to identify experimental studies on science-based mobile applications developed anxiety disorders. International databases such as PubMed, Web of Science, SCOPUS and ProQuest were searched to locate relevant articles. After the systematic review, 16 (k = 20) experimental studies on the effectiveness of science-based mobile apps for reducing anxiety that met the inclusion criteria were included in the meta-analysis study. The analysis findings concluded that science-based mobile apps have a noteworthy impact on reducing anxiety symptoms. Additionally, the moderator analysis indicated that various factors, including participant characteristics (such as gender and age), methodological factors (such as the measurement tool for anxiety and type of control group) and the intervention duration, play a crucial role in this impact. These findings suggest that science-based mobile apps can provide a helpful tool for individuals seeking to manage their anxiety symptoms and that a range of therapeutic techniques, such as mindfulness, cognitive restructuring and psychoeducation, can be effectively employed in these apps.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Perinatal depression (PND) is a common mental health problem, and eHealth interventions may provide a strategy for alleviating PND. AIM This meta-analysis aimed to determine the effect of eHealth interventions on PND. METHODS Six databases were searched to retrieve published randomized controlled trials (RCTs) on the effect of eHealth interventions on PND. A meta-analysis was performed on the data of these studies using a random effects model. RESULTS A total of 21 RCTs were included in the meta-analysis, which revealed that eHealth interventions significantly reduced antenatal depression (WMD = -1.64, 95 % CI [-2.92, -0.35], P = .013), postpartum depression (SMD = -0.41, 95 % CI [-0.52, -0.29], P < .001), anxiety (SMD = -0.39, 95 % CI [-0.51, -0.28], P < .001), stress (WMD = -2.93, 95 % CI [-4.58, -1.27], P = .001), and improved self-efficacy (SMD = 0.42, 95 % CI [0.21, 0.63], P < .001) compared with the control group. However, eHealth interventions did not significantly improve social support (SMD = 0.27, 95 % CI [-0.01, 0.56], P = .058). For antenatal depression, significant subgroup differences were observed in the digital platform and material presentation format. In addition, for postpartum depression, significant subgroup differences were found in the type of therapy. CONCLUSIONS The meta-analysis results suggest that eHealth interventions can relieve depression, anxiety, and stress symptoms and improve self-efficacy in perinatal women. However, these interventions did not improve social support. Additional high-quality studies on eHealth interventions in PND are needed to validate these results.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Posttraumatic stress (PTS) and anxiety are common mental health problems among parents of babies admitted to a neonatal unit (NNU). This review aimed to identify sociodemographic, pregnancy and birth, and psychological factors associated with PTS and anxiety in this population. METHOD Studies published up to December 2022 were retrieved by searching Medline, Embase, PsychoINFO, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health electronic databases. The modified Newcastle-Ottawa Scale for cohort and cross-sectional studies was used to assess the methodological quality of included studies. This review was pre-registered in PROSPERO (CRD42021270526). RESULTS Forty-nine studies involving 8,447 parents were included; 18 studies examined factors for PTS, 24 for anxiety and 7 for both. Only one study of anxiety factors was deemed to be of good quality. Studies generally included a small sample size and were methodologically heterogeneous. Pooling of data was not feasible. Previous history of mental health problems (four studies) and parental perception of more severe infant illness (five studies) were associated with increased risk of PTS, and had the strongest evidence. Shorter gestational age (≤ 33 weeks) was associated with an increased risk of anxiety (three studies) and very low birth weight (< 1000g) was associated with an increased risk of both PTS and anxiety (one study). Stress related to the NNU environment was associated with both PTS (one study) and anxiety (two studies), and limited data suggested that early engagement in infant's care (one study), efficient parent-staff communication (one study), adequate social support (two studies) and positive coping mechanisms (one study) may be protective factors for both PTS and anxiety. Perinatal anxiety, depression and PTS were all highly comorbid conditions (as with the general population) and the existence of one mental health condition was a risk factor for others. CONCLUSION Heterogeneity limits the interpretation of findings. Until clearer evidence is available on which parents are most at risk, good communication with parents and universal screening of PTS and anxiety for all parents whose babies are admitted to NNU is needed to identify those parents who may benefit most from mental health interventions.

Abstract
Anxiety experienced by women during pregnancy is highly prevalent, especially in resource-poor settings and strongly predicts postnatal common mental disorders (CMDs), anxiety and depression. We evaluated the effectiveness of an anxiety-focused early prenatal intervention on preventing postnatal CMDs. This study was a phase 3, two-arm, single-blind, randomized controlled trial conducted in Pakistan with women who were ≤22 weeks pregnant and had at least mild anxiety without clinical depression. Participants were randomized to the Happy Mother-Healthy Baby program, based on cognitive behavioral therapy, consisting of six one-on-one intervention sessions in pregnancy delivered by non-specialist providers, or to enhanced care alone. The primary outcome was major depression, generalized anxiety disorder or both at 6 weeks after delivery. Overall, 755 women completed postnatal assessments (380 (50.3%), intervention arm; 375 (49.7%) enhanced-care arm). The primary outcomes were met. Examined jointly, we found 81% reduced odds of having either a major depressive episode (MDE) or moderate-to-severe anxiety for women randomized to the intervention (adjusted odds ratio (aOR) = 0.19, 95% CI 0.14-0.28). Overall, 12% of women in the intervention group developed MDE at 6 weeks postpartum, versus 41% in the control group. We found reductions of 81% and 74% in the odds of postnatal MDE (aOR = 0.19, 95% CI 0.13-0.28) and of moderate-to-severe anxiety (aOR = 0.26, 95% CI 0.17-0.40), respectively. The Happy Mother-Healthy Baby program early prenatal intervention focusing on anxiety symptoms reduced postpartum CMDs. ClinicalTrials.gov identifier NCT03880032 .

Abstract
AIM This meta-analysis aimed to compare the efficacy of in-person and digital mental health interventions in addressing Postpartum Depression. METHODS Following PRISMA guidelines, the protocol for this meta-analysis was registered at the Open Science Framework (Retrieved from osf.io/wy3s4). This meta analysis included Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs) conducted between 2013 and 2023. A comprehensive literature search identified 35 eligible RCTs from various electronic databases. Inclusion criteria focused on pregnant women over 18 years old, encompassing antenatal depression and up to two years postpartum. Diagnostic interviews or Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) were used to establish PPD. Digital interventions included telephonic, app-based, or internet-based approaches, while in-person interventions involved face-to-face sessions. RESULTS The meta-analysis revealed a moderate overall effect size of -0.69, indicating that psychological interventions are effective for PPD. Digital interventions (g = -0.86) exhibited a higher mean effect size than in-person interventions (g = -0.55). Both types of interventions displayed substantial heterogeneity (digital: I2 = 99%, in-person: I2 = 92%), suggesting variability in intervention content, delivery methods, and participant characteristics. CONCLUSION Digital mental health interventions show promise in addressing PPD symptoms, with a potentially greater effect size compared to in-person interventions. However, the high heterogeneity observed in both modalities underscores the need for further research to identify key drivers of success and tailor interventions to diverse populations. Additionally, the choice between digital and in-person interventions should consider individual needs and preferences. Ongoing research should further investigate and optimise intervention modalities to better serve pregnant women at risk of PPD.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This study explored whether psychosocial intervention applications (apps) are effective in preventing postpartum depression. METHODS We conducted an initial article search on 26 March 2020, and the updated search on 17 March 2023 on the electronic databases of the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL), MEDLINE via Ovid, Scopus, PsycINFO, CINAHL, and ProQuest Dissertations & Theses A&I. Furthermore, we searched the International Clinical Trials Platform Search Portal (ICTRP), and Clinical Trials. RESULTS We identified 2515 references, and sixteen studies were ultimately included in this review. We conducted a meta-analysis of two studies on the onset of postpartum depression. There were no significant differences between the intervention and control groups (RR 0.80; 95% CI 0.62 to 1.04; P = 0.570). We performed a meta-analysis of the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS). The intervention group had significantly lower EPDS scores than the control group (mean difference -0.96; 95% CI -1.44 to -0.48; P < 0.001, I2 = 82%, Chi2 = 62.75, P < 0.001; high heterogeneity). CONCLUSION This study presents the results of current RCTs on interventions with apps, including an app with an automated psychosocial component for preventing postpartum depression that has been conducted. These apps improved the EPDS score; furthermore, they may prevent postpartum depression.
