Abstract
OBJECTIVE This scoping review aimed to map existing research on adverse events encountered during telerehabilitation delivery, across rehabilitation populations. This includes identifying characteristics of adverse events (frequency/physical/non-physical, relatedness, severity) and examining adverse events by different modes of telerehabilitation delivery and disease states. INTRODUCTION Telerehabilitation, a subset of telemedicine, has gained traction during the COVID-19 pandemic for remote service delivery. However, no prior scoping review, systematic review, or meta-analysis has identified and summarized the current primary research on adverse events in telerehabilitation. Understanding adverse events, such as falls during physiotherapy or aspiration pneumonia during speech therapy, is crucial for identifying limitations and optimizing delivery through risk mitigation and quality indicators. This understanding could also help to improve the uptake of telerehabilitation among clinicians and patients. This review addresses this gap by summarizing published literature on adverse events during telerehabilitation. METHODS The review followed the Joanna Briggs Institute framework and adhered to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses Extension for Scoping Reviews guidelines. The review protocol was registered and published on Open Science Framework. A comprehensive search across multiple databases (MEDLINE ALL/EMBASE/APA PsycINFO/CENTRAL/CINAHL) was conducted. Screening, extraction, and synthesis were performed in duplicate and independently. Data extraction followed the Template for Intervention Description and Replication framework and also involved extraction on authors, publication year (pre- or post-COVID), population, sample size, and modes of telerehabilitation delivery (asynchronous, synchronous, hybrid). For synthesis, data were summarized quantitatively using numerical counts and qualitatively via content analysis. The data were grouped by intervention type and by type of adverse event. INCLUSION CRITERIA This scoping review included qualitative and quantitative studies published between 2013-2023, written in English, and conducted in any geographic area. All modes of telerehabilitation delivery were included. Systematic reviews, meta-analyses, commentaries, protocols, opinion pieces, conference abstracts, and case series with fewer than five participants were excluded. RESULTS The search identified 11,863 references, and 81 studies were included in this review with a total of 3,057 participants (mean age:59.3 years; females:44.6%). Modes of telerehabilitation delivery (whether asynchronous, synchronous or hybrid) used in the studies included videoconferencing (52), phone calls (25), text messaging (4), email (6), mobile apps (10), and internet-based virtual reality systems (3). A total of 295 adverse events occurred during 84,534 sessions (0.3%), with the majority being physical (e.g., falls or musculoskeletal pain), non-serious/non-severe/mild, and unrelated to (i.e., not caused by) to the telerehabilitation provided. CONCLUSIONS From the 81 included studies, telerehabilitation was delivered with related adverse events being rare, and mostly characterized as mild/non-severe. A comparable occurrence of adverse events (~30%) was found between asynchronous and synchronous telerehabilitation studies. When categorized by disease type, cardiac telerehabilitation studies had the most frequent adverse events. Detailed reporting of telerehabilitation interventions and adverse event characteristics is recommended for future studies (i.e., use of TIDieR reporting guidelines). Telerehabilitation has the potential to make rehabilitation services more accessible to patients; however, more evidence on the safety of telerehabilitation is needed.

Abstract
People living with dementia have high rates of hospitalizations. Identifying factors that influence hospitalization is important. This study examines the influence of physical activity levels on risk of hospitalization and emergency department (ED) use among older people living with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or dementia followed in our primary care practice in Rochester, Minnesota, United States. We included those age 55 years and older, who had a clinic visit between June 1, 2019 and June 30, 2021 and completed a social determinants of health questionnaire about physical activity levels (n = 3090). Physical activity was classified as sufficiently active, insufficiently active, or physically inactive. Risk of hospitalization and ED visits by physical activity levels were examined. People who were physically inactive were at higher risk of hospitalization and ED visits (p < .001) compared with those who were sufficiently active. This highlights an area for health promotion in people living with MCI and dementia.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Tele-neurorehabilitation (TNR) allows for remote delivery of rehabilitation services for those with neurological disabilities. Despite growing global interest and uptake, its adoption remains challenging in Low-and-Middle-Income-Countries (LMICs). OBJECTIVE To explore available literature on the nature of training and education, research and practice of TNR in LMICs. METHODS Following PRISMA-ScR guidelines and predefined selection criteria, four databases were screened. Quality assessment was performed using the Joanna Briggs Institute tools. Relevant data was extracted to using a data extraction form in Microsoft Excel and were narratively synthesised under Education/training, Research and Clinical Practice of TNR. RESULTS We identified no formal structured training courses/programs for TNR users/providers. Sessions were mainly delivered as part of a research project. The included studies highlighted the need to engage stakeholders in TNR research and improve digital-literacy among healthcare providers/users. Development and use of clinical decision-making-tools, models of TNR suitable for varied populations and prior area-mapping were a few suggestions for clinical/research practice. CONCLUSION There is an immense need to develop academic/structured programs for TNR to build capacity among providers/users in LMICs. Practice must adhere to principles of safety, effectiveness, and based on high quality clinical-guidelines suitable to the context to ensure optimal uptake and practice of TNR in LMICs.

Abstract
Telerehabilitation has the potential to help expand the reach of rehabilitation intervention. An online questionnaire-based Delphi method set out to develop a telerehabilitation guideline for patients in Indonesia with Long COVID. A Delphi panel comprised of 24 experts was selected from all relevant disciplines. Over two rounds of Delphi testing, panelists gave opinions and indicated their level of agreement with each recommendation. Key elements of consensus for a telerehabilitation guideline for patients with Long COVID includes: the benefit of telerehabilitation, types of rehabilitation intervention needed, methods of intervention, criteria for home-based self-exercise training, set-up of rehabilitation prescription, exercise monitoring, evaluation of rehabilitation intervention and duration of rehabilitation intervention. Further research is needed to determine the feasibility and effectiveness of this guideline.

Abstract
Participating in physical activity is beneficial for older people with dementia. Little is known however about the perceptions of people living with dementia undertaking an online-delivered exercise program. This study aimed to explore the experiences and perceptions of older people with dementia and their carers in Indonesia participating in an online-delivered exercise program, and factors that may influence acceptability to the program. An exploratory qualitative study design using semi-structured interviews was used. Data were recorded, transcribed verbatim, translated into English, and analyzed thematically. Twelve participants with dementia (mean age = 63.3 years) and 30 carers (26 family carers and 4 paid carers) (mean age = 37.9 years) were interviewed separately. Seven themes were identified: (i) Motivating factors to participate; (ii) Benefits for people with dementia; (iii) Impacts on carers; (iv) Challenges and enablers to exercising; (v) Carers' strategies for exercise engagement; (vi) Roles, relationships and supports; and (vii) Participants' receptiveness to online delivery of the exercise program. This study illustrated that an online-delivered exercise program was acceptable for people with dementia and their carers in Indonesia and reinforced the importance of carers' support for the exercise program. These findings can help physiotherapists and other exercise practitioners in considering the aspects of delivery that people with dementia and their carers value in participating in online-delivered exercise programs.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Despite technology-based systems being considered promising tools to stimulate and increase physical function at home, most older adults are unfamiliar with technology, which may pose some difficulties. Technology-related parameters, such as adherence, acceptance, and acceptability, are crucial to achieving higher efficacy levels of home-based exercise interventions delivered by technology. In this scoping review, we aimed to revise the use of home-based technological tools to improve physical function in the older population, focusing on the user's experience and perspective. Methods This scoping review was conducted following PRISMA guidelines. The search was conducted in April 2022 and updated in April 2023. A total of 45 studies were included in the review. Results Most studies (95.5%) met the technology usage levels defined by the research team or reported satisfactory technology usage levels. Positive health-related outcomes were reported in 80% of studies. Although the existence of guidelines to correctly define and use measures associated with technology use, including adherence, acceptance and acceptability, some terms are still being used interchangeably. Some concerns related to the lack of an international consensus regarding technology usage measures and the exclusion of older adults who did not own or have previous experience with technology in a large percentage of the included studies may have limited the results obtained. Conclusions Altogether, home-based exercise interventions delivered through technology were associated with positive health-related outcomes in older adults, and technology usage levels are considered satisfactory. Older adults are willing and able to use technology autonomously if adequate support is provided.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Physical activity can improve physical health for people living with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and dementia and may have cognitive benefits. Identifying modifiable social factors inhibiting physical activity among this group is needed. We sought to examine the relationship between reported physical activity levels and social determinants of health (SDOH) in a population of older adults living with MCI or dementia. METHODS This descriptive study included people with a diagnosis of MCI or dementia followed by Community Internal Medicine at Mayo Clinic (Rochester, Minnesota, United States), aged over 55 years, who had a clinic visit between June 1, 2019 and June 30, 2021 and had completed a SDOH questionnaire. We focused on 8 SDOH domains: education, depression, alcohol use, stress, financial resource strain, social connections, food insecurity, and transportation needs. Data were analyzed based on physical activity level (inactive, insufficiently active, sufficiently active). SDOH domains were compared according to physical activity level using the χ2 test and multinomial logistic regression. RESULTS A total of 3224 persons with MCI (n = 1371) or dementia (n = 1853) who had completed questions on physical activity were included. Of these, 1936 (60%) were characterized as physically inactive and 837 (26%) insufficiently active. Characteristics associated with an increased likelihood of physical inactivity were older age, female sex, obesity, lower education, dementia diagnosis, screening positive for depression and increased social isolation (p < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS Physical inactivity is common among people living with MCI and dementia. Physical activity levels may be influenced by many factors, highlighting potential areas for intervention.
