Abstract
Purpose Fatigue was a common symptom of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), which seriously affected patients' quality of life. The aim of this study was to detect fatigue rate and to evaluate factors associated with fatigue in NAFLD patients. Patients and Methods A cross-sectional study was carried out from the Huadong Sanatorium between April 2022 and May 2023, and 133 NAFLD patients were included in this study. They completed Fatigue Severity Scale to assess fatigue, the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale to estimate psychological status, and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index for sleep quality. Data were analyzed by independent samples t-tests, χ2 tests and logistic regression models. Results We found that 51.1% of NAFLD patients had fatigue. Exercise, anxiety, depression, subjective sleep quality, sleep latency, sleep duration, habitual sleep efficiency, sleep disorders, daytime dysfunction and overall sleep quality were related to fatigue among NAFLD patients. Moreover, logistic regression models indicated anxiety, habitual sleep efficiency and sleep disorders as important predictors of fatigue. Conclusion This was the first time to explore demographic, clinical, psychological and sleeping correlated factors for fatigue in Chinese NAFLD patients. Our study showed that more than half of NAFLD patients had fatigue, and anxiety, habitual sleep efficiency and sleep disorders were significantly associated with fatigue in NAFLD. The findings indicated that it was very necessary to pay more attention to fatigue of NAFLD patients, especially those with negative emotions and poor sleep quality by favorable intervention to relieve fatigue symptoms, so as to improve quality of life.

Abstract
The aim of this study was to evaluate the association between lifestyle profile and disease incidence/mortality in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Lifestyle profiles ascertainment was based on the latent profile analysis. The associations of lifestyle profile and outcomes were analyzed by multivariate logistic or Cox regressions. Four lifestyle profiles (profile 1 and 2 for male, profile 3 and 4 for female) were established for all participants. Compared to profile 1, profile 2 (P = 0.042) and profile 3 (P = 0.013) had lower incidence for NAFLD. In contrast, profile 4 showed similar NAFLD prevalence compared to profile 1 (P = 0.756). Individuals with NAFLD within profile 3 had the best long-term survival, and the HR was 0.55 (95% CI 0.40-0.76) for all-cause mortality (compared to profile 1). Profile 4 (P = 0.098) and profile 2 (P = 0.546) had similar all-cause survival compared to profile 1. We explored the associations of healthy lifestyle score with mortality and incidence of NAFLD stratified by lifestyle profiles. We observed that with the increase of healthy lifestyle score, participants within profile 2 did not display lower NAFLD incidence and better long-term survival in NAFLD cases. In this study, lifestyle profiles were constructed in NHANES participants. The distinct lifestyle profiles may help optimize decision-making regarding lifestyle management in preventing NAFLD development, as well as selection of a more personalized approach for improving NAFLD survival.

Abstract
Few studies have delved into the effects of heatwaves on sleep duration loss among older adults. Our study examined correlations between heatwave exposure and sleep duration reductions in this demographic. Utilizing data of 7,240 older adults drawn from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) from 2015 to 2018, we assessed sleep duration differences between the baseline year (2015) and follow-up year (2018). Absolute reductions in sleep duration were defined as differences of ≥ 1, 1.5, or 2 h. Changes in sleep duration were categorized based on cut-offs of 5 and 8 h, including excessive decrease, moderate to short and persistent short sleep duration types. 12 heatwave definitions combining four thresholds (90th, 92.5th, 95th, and 97.5th percentiles of daily minimum temperature) and three durations (≥2, ≥3 and ≥ 4 days) were used. Heatwave exposure was determined by the difference in the number of 12 preceding months' heatwave days or events in 2015 and the number of 12 preceding months' heatwave days or events in 2018. The results showed that increased heatwave events (defined as ≥ P90th percentile & lasting three days) were associated with a higher likelihood of ≥ 1-hour sleep reduction and persistent short sleep duration. An increase in heatwave event (defined as ≥ P95th percentile & lasting three days) was linked to shifts from moderate to short sleep duration. For the association between an absolute reduction in sleep duration and heatwave exposure, while higher thresholds signified greater sleep reduction risks, the effect estimates of longer durations were not uniformly consistent. We observed that air pollution and green space modified the relationship between heatwaves and sleep duration. Females, urban residents, and individuals with chronic diseases were identified as vulnerable populations. This study found that increased heatwave exposure was associated with a higher risk of sleep duration loss in older adults.

Abstract
Interconnections between hypothyroidism and metabolic disturbances manifesting in the liver and body composition have not yet been comprehensively analyzed in the context of lifestyle. This study aimed to assess the selected lifestyle factors and quality of life in the context of the development of NAFL (non-alcoholic fatty liver) in women diagnosed with hypothyroidism. This study included 134 women categorized into three groups: with hypothyroidism and NAFL, with only hypothyroidism, and with only NAFL. We compared the groups concerning the KomPAN and WHOQOL-BREF questionnaires, anthropometric measurements, body composition parameters, and the stage of liver steatosis. The individuals with NAFL most frequently consumed lard, fried dishes, processed meats, red meat, sweets, and sweetened beverages. The individuals with hypothyroidism without coexisting NAFL exhibited the highest satisfaction with health. The NAFL group had the highest average body fat percentage. Selected lifestyle aspects influenced the development of NAFL in women diagnosed with hypothyroidism. Women's overall quality of life did not vary depending on the coexisting medical conditions. Preventive programs should promote the following: the regular consumption of meals, the appropriate energy supply, physical activity, mental health support, and striving for proper body composition parameters.

Abstract
Background and Aim Our primary objective is to examine the variance in chronotype, night-eating patterns, and sleep quality in patients with biopsy-proven metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease. In addition, we aim to establish a correlation between these variables and the severity of the disease and fibrosis. Materials and Methods Patients who were following up with biopsy-proven metabolic dysfunction associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) were included in the study. Histologically severe disease is characterized by a Steatosis, Activity, and Fibrosis activity score of ≥3 or the presence of advanced fibrosis (≥F3). Participants who met the inclusion criteria were given the Morningness and Evening Questionnaire (MEQ), the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, and the Night Eating Questionnaire to complete. Results A total of 93 patients were included in this study. According to the MEQ, 48 patients were morning type (51.6%), and 42 (45.2%) were neither type. Sleep quality was determined to be inferior in the non-morningness group (p=0.002). A significantly higher proportion of patients with nocturnal eating syndrome had a non-morningness chronotype preference (n=22, 23.7%), compared to those with a morningness chronotype (n=9, 9.7%) (p=0.001). In the multivariate analysis, both age and poor sleep quality had significant impacts on advanced fibrosis, with odds ratios of 1.11 and 3.81, respectively. Conclusion Despite the non-morningness chronotype demonstrating poorer sleep quality and a higher prevalence of night-eating behavior, our findings revealed no statistically significant differences in terms of sleep quality, nocturnal eating habits, or chronotype preferences among patients with varying degrees of MASLD severity. On the other hand, advanced fibrosis was significantly impacted by poor sleep quality.

Alternate-Day Fasting Combined with Exercise: Effect on Sleep in Adults with Obesity and NAFLD. Nutrients 2023; 15:nu15061398. Abstract
Objective: This study investigated how alternate-day fasting (ADF) combined with aerobic exercise impacts body weight and sleep in adults with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Methods: Adults with obesity and NAFLD (n = 80) were randomized into one of four groups for 3 months: combination of ADF (600 kcal “fast day,” alternated with an ad libitum intake “feast day”) and moderate-intensity aerobic exercise (five sessions per week, 60 min/session); ADF alone; exercise alone; or a no-intervention control group. Results: By month 3, body weight and intrahepatic triglyceride content decreased (p < 0.001, group × time interaction) in the combination group versus the exercise group and control group, but not versus the ADF group. Sleep quality, measured by the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Inventory (PSQI), did not change in the combination group (baseline: 6.0 ± 0.7; month 3: 5.6 ± 0.7), ADF group (baseline: 8.9 ± 1.0; month 3: 7.5 ± 0.8), or exercise group (baseline: 6.4 ± 0.6; month 3: 6.7 ± 0.6), versus controls (baseline: 5.5 ± 0.7; month 3: 4.6 ± 0.5). Wake time, bedtime, sleep duration, and insomnia severity did not change (no group x time interaction) over the course of the study in any group. Risk for obstructive sleep apnea was present in 30% of combination subjects, 75% of ADF subjects, 40% of exercise subjects, and 75% of controls, and did not change in the intervention groups, versus controls, by month 3. No associations were observed between changes in body weight, intrahepatic triglyceride content, and any sleep outcome. Conclusions: The weight loss induced by ADF combined with exercise does not improve sleep quality, duration, insomnia severity, or risk of obstructive sleep apnea in individuals with NAFLD.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Poor sleep raises the risk of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and hastens disease progression. It is critical to figure out what factors impact the sleep quality of NAFLD patients. The present study aimed to investigate the role of anxiety symptoms in accounting for the impact of rumination on sleep quality and the moderating role of resilience on the associations of rumination with anxiety symptoms and sleep quality. METHODS In the cross-sectional study, 285 NAFLD patients completed the Chinese version of the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, the Ruminative Responses Scale, the Generalized Anxiety Disorder 7-item scale, and the 14-item Resilience Scale to measure sleep quality, rumination (including brooding and reflection), anxiety symptoms, and resilience, respectively. The PROCESS macro for SPSS v4.0 procedure was applied to perform moderated mediation analysis. RESULTS The roles of anxiety symptoms in accounting for the positive associations of brooding, reflection and rumination with poor sleep quality were revealed. It was found that there was a significant moderating role of resilience on the positive associations of brooding, reflection and rumination with anxiety symptoms, which were gradually reduced as resilience increased. The direct associations between brooding, reflection and rumination and poor sleep quality were not significantly moderated by resilience. Thus, a moderated mediation model involving anxiety symptoms and resilience for explaining the impact of rumination on poor sleep quality was supported among patients with NAFLD. CONCLUSIONS Rumination (including brooding and reflection) could be positively related to poor sleep quality, and anxiety symptoms had a significant role in accounting for the relationship among patients with NAFLD. Resilience showed a moderating role that could attenuate the positive association between rumination and anxiety symptoms. Interventions aimed at alleviating rumination, reducing anxiety symptoms, and enhancing resilience could improve the sleep quality of NAFLD patients.
