Abstract
Carbon dot-based fluorescence sensors have attracted research interest for the selective determination of anti-inflammatory drugs in biological fluids and environments. The overdose and accumulation of anti-inflammatory drugs in tissues can cause chronic side effects including abdominal pain, and renal damage. Herein, we report a new fluorescent probe, bamboo stem waste-derived carbon dots (BS-CDs) for highly sensitive detection of Flufenamic acid (FA), a hazardous anti-inflammatory drug. The UV-vis absorption spectra of BS-CDs show a redshifted absorption peak at 283 nm upon the addition of FA suggesting strong binding interaction between BS-CDs and FA molecule. The BS-CDs showed a fluorescence enhancement (∼2-fold) detection for FA (400 μM) in the linear concentration range (0.40 → 0.65 μM) with a limit of detection (LoD; 17 nM) and binding constant (Ka = 1.33 × 10-3 M-1). The time-resolved fluorescence decay analysis showed that the average lifetime of BS-CDs has slightly changed (4.42 → 4.67 ns) by the interaction with FA through the aggregation-induced emission (AIE) process. The interference, pH, and effect of time results suggest that BS-CDs are highly selective probes for FA detection and do not show any interference involvement during FA detection. The confirmation of the structure and morphology changes of BS-CDs after interaction with FA was carried out by XRD, FESEM, HRTEM, FTIR, and Raman spectroscopy. The practicability of the BS-CDs probe was proved by the detection of FA in human urine samples with recovery of 103-109 %. This suggests that the proposed BS-CDs-based 'turn-on' sensor could be used to determine the FA in biological fluids.

Abstract
The structural and sorption characteristics of a composite material consisting of a silica aerogel loaded with flufenamic acid were investigated using a variety of nuclear magnetic resonance techniques. The composite structure was analyzed using magic angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance (MAS NMR) spectroscopy, which revealed significant interactions between the aerogel matrix and the FFA molecules. Solid-state 29Si NMR provided insights into the aerogel's stability, while 1H and 13C NMR confirmed the presence of FFA in the matrix, with signals from FFA molecules observed alongside tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) groups. Ethanol-induced desorption of FFA led to narrowed spectral lines, suggesting the breaking of intermolecular hydrogen bonds. 19F MAS NMR spectra indicated changes in FFA local environments upon loading into AG pores. Evaluation of CO2 sorption characteristics using 13C NMR demonstrated a slower sorption rate for AG + FFA than that for pure AG, attributed to decreased pore volume. Furthermore, nuclear Overhauser effect spectroscopy (NOESY) was employed to explore the conformational behavior of FFA within the aerogel matrix. The results indicated a shift in conformer populations, particularly those related to the rotation of one cyclic fragment relative to the other. These findings provide insights into the structural and sorption characteristics of the AG + FFA composite, which are valuable for developing novel drug solid forms.

Abstract
It is well known that Hirshfeld surfaces provide an easy and straightforward way of analysing intermolecular interactions in the crystal environment. The use of atomic Hirshfeld surfaces has also demonstrated that such surfaces carry information related to chemical bonds which allow a deeper evaluation of the structures. Here we briefly summarize the approach of atomic Hirshfeld surfaces while further evaluating the kind of information that can be retrieved from them. We show that the analysis of the metal-centre Hirshfeld surfaces from structures refined via Hirshfeld Atom Refinement (HAR) allow accurate evaluation of contacts of type M...H, and that such contacts can be related to the overall shape of the surfaces. The compounds analysed were tetraaquabis(3-carboxypropionato)metal(II), [M(C4H3O4)2(H2O)4], for metal(II)/M = manganese/Mn, cobalt/Co, nickel/Ni and zinc/Zn. We also evaluate the sensitivity of the surfaces by an investigation of seemingly flat surfaces through analysis of the curvature functions in the direction of C-C bonds. The obtained values not only demonstrate variations in curvature but also show a correlation with the hybridization of the C atoms involved in the bond.

Abstract
Four alkaline earth metal complexes of ketoprofen (Hket) and indomethacin (Hind) were synthesized and characterized: [Ca(ket)2(H2O)2]n (1), [Mg(ket)2(H2O)2] (2), [Ca(ind)2(EtOH)2]n (3), and [Mg(ind)2(EtOH)2] (4). All compounds were studied by elemental analysis (EA), flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Crystal structures of 1 and 3 were determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction technique T=100 K. The structure of 1 is dominated by a one-dimensional coordination polymer, while 3 is formed by a two-dimensional layer stabilized by the calcium zig-zag chains and π⋅⋅⋅π stacking interactions. Crystal packing arrangements were characterized by fingerprint plots (FPs) that were derived from the Hirshfeld surfaces (HSs). The antioxidant and antimicrobial activities of complexes were evaluated against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria as well as yeasts.

Synthesis, Characterization and Biological Investigation of the Platinum(IV) Tolfenamato Prodrug–Resolving Cisplatin-Resistance in Ovarian Carcinoma Cell Lines. Int J Mol Sci 2023; 24:ijms24065718. Abstract
The research on the anticancer potential of platinum(IV) complexes represents one strategy to circumvent the deficits of approved platinum(II) drugs. Regarding the role of inflammation during carcinogenesis, the effects of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) ligands on the cytotoxicity of platinum(IV) complexes is of special interest. The synthesis of cisplatin- and oxaliplatin-based platinum(IV) complexes with four different NSAID ligands is presented in this work. Nine platinum(IV) complexes were synthesized and characterized by use of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy (1H, 13C, 195Pt, 19F), high-resolution mass spectrometry, and elemental analysis. The cytotoxic activity of eight compounds was evaluated for two isogenic pairs of cisplatin-sensitive and -resistant ovarian carcinoma cell lines. Platinum(IV) fenamato complexes with a cisplatin core showed especially high in vitro cytotoxicity against the tested cell lines. The most promising complex, 7, was further analyzed for its stability in different buffer solutions and behavior in cell cycle and cell death experiments. Compound 7 induces a strong cytostatic effect and cell line-dependent early apoptotic or late necrotic cell death processes. Gene expression analysis suggests that compound 7 acts through a stress-response pathway integrating p21, CHOP, and ATF3.

Abstract
Metal-containing heteraadamantanes are compounds of interest due to their spectroscopic and magnetic properties, which make them promising materials for non-linear optics and semiconductors. Herein we report the comprehensive structural characterization of a new coordination compound of the formula [(µ-OH′)2(µ-OH″)4(O = P(Ph2)CH2CH2(Ph2)P = O)4{Fe(t-BuOH)}4](PF6)4(Cl)2 with the chelating ligand Ph2P(O)-CH2CH2-P(O)Ph2. The compound crystallizes as a polynuclear metal complex with the adamantane-like core [Fe4O6] in the space group I-43d of a cubic system. The single-crystal XRD analysis showed that the crystal contains one symmetrically independent octahedrally coordinated Fe atom in the oxidation state +3. The adamantine-like scaffold of the Fe complex is formed by hydroxy bridging oxygen atoms only. Hirshfeld surface analysis of the bridging oxygen atoms revealed two types of µ-OH groups, which differ in the degree of exposure and participation in long-range interactions. Additionally, the Hirshfeld surface analysis supported by the enrichment ratio calculations demonstrated the high propensity of the title complex to form C-H…Cl, C-H…F and C-H…O interactions.
