Abstract
The diverse structures of DNA serve as potent chiral scaffolds for DNA-based asymmetric catalysis, yet in most cases tens to hundreds of nucleotides in DNA hybrid catalysts hinder the deep insight into their structure-activity relationship. Owing to the structural simplicity and design flexibility of nucleotides, nucleotide-based catalysts have been emerging as a promising way to obtain fine structural information and understand the catalytic mechanisms. Herein, we found that a cyclic dinucleotide of cyclic di-AMP (c-di-AMP) and 1,10-phenanthroline copper(II) nitrate (Cu(phen)(NO3)2) are assembled to a c-di-AMP-based catalyst (c-di-AMP/Cu(phen)(NO3)2), which could fast achieve enantioselective fluorination in water with 90-99% yields and up to 90% enantiomeric excess (ee). The host-guest interaction between c-di-AMP and Cu(phen)(NO3)2 has been proposed mainly in a supramolecular interaction mode as evidenced by spectroscopic techniques of ultraviolet-visible, fluorescence, circular dichroism, and nuclear magnetic resonance. Cu(phen)(NO3)2 tightly binds to c-di-AMP with a binding constant of 1.7 ± 0.3 × 105 M-1, and the assembly of c-di-AMP/Cu(phen)(NO3)2 shows a modest rate enhancement to carbon-fluorine bond formations as supported by kinetic studies.

Abstract
An electrophilic enantioselective catalytic method for the α-pentafluoroethylation of 3-oxoesters is described. Under the use of La(OTf)3 in combination with a (S,R)-indanyl-pybox ligand, good results in terms of yield and enantioselectivities were achieved (up to 89% ee). The reaction proceeds under mild conditions, leading to the formation of enantioenriched quaternary centers. This methodology uses an hypervalent iodine(III)-CF2CF3 reagent, and mechanistic investigations are consistent with the involvement of a radical pathway.

Abstract
In this review, recent advances over the past decade in the preparation of fluorinated stereogenic quaternary centers on β-keto esters compounds are analyzed. Since the incorporation of fluorine and fluorinated groups is of special interest in pharmaceutical chemistry, a range of metal-catalyzed and organocatalyzed methods have been developed. Herein, we review the enantioselective fluorination, trifluoromethylation and trifluoromethylthiolation of 3-oxo esters. The scope, the induction of enantioselectivity and mechanistic investigations are presented.

Abstract
Two synthetic strategies for a new family of neutral NON ligands featuring a "bis(oxazolinylmethylidene)isobenzofuran" framework (boxman) are reported. A Pd-mediated cyclization reaction forming the isobenzofuran core constitutes the key reaction in the eight-step synthetic route to the nonbackbone-methylated target compound H,Rboxman. In contrast, the introduction of two additional methyl groups provides stereochemical control during backbone construction and thereby access to the methylated derivative Me,Rboxman, which was synthesized in five steps and improved yields. In addition, the synthetic sequence was transferred to the thio analogue, providing access to the NSN ligand H,Rboxmene. Subsequent complexation experiments with iron and cobalt chloride precursors afforded the four-coordinated chlorido complexes Me,RboxmanMCl2 (R = Ph, iPr; M = Fe, Co) and established the boxman family as trans-chelating, bidentate bis(oxazoline) ligands. Application of the latter in the nickel(II)- and zinc(II)-catalyzed α-fluorination of β-ketoesters and oxindoles (up to 98% yield and 94% ee) demonstrated their suitability for enantioselective catalysis.
