Study on Graphene/CNC-Coated Bamboo Pulp Fabric Preparation of Fabrics with Thermal Conductivity

Comparative Analysis of Elastic Polyester Sportswear Fabrics with Printed Graphene Patterns

In this study two elastic polyester fabrics differentiated by a graphene-printed pattern, called honeycomb (HC) and spider web (SW), were analyzed with a focus on their thermal, mechanical, moisture management and sensorial properties, aiming to identify the fabric with the most elevated heat dissipation and comfort for sportswear. The shape of the graphene-printed circuit did not lead to significant difference between the mechanical properties of the fabrics SW and HC assessed by the Fabric Touch Tester (FTT). Fabric SW outperformed fabric HC with respect of drying time, air permeability, moisture, and liquid management properties. On the other hand, both the Infrared (IR) thermography and FTT-predicted warmness clearly showed that fabric HC dissipates heat faster on its surface along the graphene circuit. This fabric was also predicted by the FTT as smoother and softer than fabric SW and had a better overall fabric hand. The results revealed that both graphene patterns resulted in comfortable fabrics with great potential applications in sportswear fields, in specific use scenario's.

Improving thermal conductivities of textile materials by nanohybrid approaches

The thermal transfer between individual body and the surroundings occurs by several paths such as radiation, evaporation, conduction, and convection. Thermal management is related with the heat transfer between the human body and the surroundings, which aims to keep the body temperature in the comfort range either via preserving or via emitting the body heat. The essential duty of clothing is to contribute to the thermal balance of the human body by regulating the heat and moisture transfer. In the case of poorly controlled body heat, health problems such as hyperthermia and heatstroke along with environmental problems due to higher energy consumption can occur. Recently, research has been focused on advanced textiles with novel approaches on materials synthesis and structure design, which can provide thermal comfort together with energy saving. This review article focuses on the innovative strategies basically on the passive textile models for improved thermal conductivity. We will discuss both the fabrication techniques and the inclusion of carbon-based and boron-based fillers to form nano-hybrid textile solutions, which are used to improve the thermal conductivity of the materials.

Progress in Flexible Electronic Textile for Heating Application: A Critical Review

Intelligent textiles are predicted to see a 'surprising' development in the future. The consequence of this revived interest has been the growth of industrial goods and the improvement of innovative methods for the incorporation of electrical features into textiles materials. Conductive textiles comprise conductive fibres, yarns, fabrics, and finished goods produced using them. Present perspectives to manufacture electrically conductive threads containing conductive substrates, metal wires, metallic yarns, and intrinsically conductive polymers. This analysis concentrates on the latest developments of electro-conductivity in the area of smart textiles and heeds especially to materials and their assembling processes. The aim of this work is to illustrate a potential trade-off between versatility, ergonomics, low energy utilization, integration, and heating properties.

Recent Studies on Dispersion of Graphene-Polymer Composites

Graphene is an excellent 2D material that has extraordinary properties such as high surface area, electron mobility, conductivity, and high light transmission. Polymer composites are used in many applications in place of polymers. In recent years, the development of stable graphene dispersions with high graphene concentrations has attracted great attention due to their applications in energy, bio-fields, and so forth. Thus, this review essentially discusses the preparation of stable graphene-polymer composites/dispersions. Discussion on existing methods of preparing graphene is included with their merits and demerits. Among existing methods, mechanical exfoliation is widely used for the preparation of stable graphene dispersion, the theoretical background of this method is discussed briefly. Solvents, surfactants, and polymers that are used for dispersing graphene and the factors to be considered while preparing stable graphene dispersions are discussed in detail. Further, the direct applications of stable graphene dispersions are discussed briefly. Finally, a summary and prospects for the development of stable graphene dispersions are proposed.

Mechanical and Thermal Properties of Waterborne Polyurethane Coating Modified through One-Step Cellulose Nanocrystals/Graphene Materials Sols Method

Developing multifunctional coatings with excellent mechanical and thermal properties is highly desirable for wood-based composite application. The recent development of waterborne coatings for wood products suggests that a promising thermosetting material needs to also have properties like low volatile organic contents (VOCs), hardness, and fast curing. The cellulose nanocrystals/graphene materials (CNC/GM) sols were prepared through the one-step method as the thermally conductive and reinforced modifier for preparing waterborne polyurethane (WPU) coatings. The influence of this modifier on the thermal and mechanical properties such as thermal conductivity, abrasion resistance, and adhesion of WPU coatings was investigated. The results indicated that adding CNC/GM sols increased the hardness, abrasion resistance, and thermal conductivity of the WPU coatings, and meanwhile maintained the coating adhesion at the highest grade (level 1). The highest abrasion resistance value of 0.023 g/100 r was obtained for the modified WPU coating when the addition of GM was 3%.
