Abstract
Zinc has been demonstrated to boost immune response during SAR-CoV-2 infection, where it prevents coronavirus multiplication. Clinical investigations have testified to its beneficial effects on respiratory health and its deficiency may reduce immune function. A highly sensitive detection of Zn(II) ion via differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) utilizing an environmentally friendly modified screen-printed carbon electrode (SPCE) of electrochemically reduced graphene oxide (ErGO) embedded with carboxylated-8-carboxamidoquinoline (CACQ) as Zn(II) chelating ligand. The green CACQ/ErGO-modified SPCE was characterized by spectroscopy techniques, such as Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, and field-emission scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive X-ray (FESEM-EDX). The modified electrode-solution interface was studied by electrochemical cyclic voltammetry (CV) and DPV methods. The CACQ-modified wrinkled ErGO electrode conferred a large surface-to-volume ratio with multiple binding sites resulting in greater opportunity for multiple dative covalent binding events with Zn(II) via coordination chemistry, and considerably accelerated the electron transfer rate at the electrode surface. The green Zn(II) sensor demonstrated a quick response time (60 s), broad linear range [1 pM-1 μM Zn(II) ion], a limit of detection (LOD) of 0.53 pM, 35 days of storage period (≥80% of its initial response retained), good reproducibility [relative standard deviation (RSD) = 3.4%], and repeatability (RSD = 4.4%). The developed electrode was applied to determine Zn(II) ion concentration in dietary supplement samples, and the results were in good agreement with those obtained from inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS).

Abstract
Biosensors harness biological materials as receptors linked to transducers, enabling the capture and transformation of primary biorecognition signals into measurable outputs. This study presents a novel carboxylation method for synthesizing carboxylated graphene (CG) under acidic conditions, enhancing biosensing capabilities. The characterization of the CG was performed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), Raman spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and X-ray diffraction (XRD). We modified screen-printed carbon electrodes (SPCEs) with CG to immobilize the SARS-CoV-2 N-protein, facilitating targeted detection of IgA antibodies (IgA-SARS-CoV-2). The analytical performance was assessed via electrochemical techniques such as cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, confirming CG synthesis effectiveness and biosensor functionality. The developed biosensor efficiently detects IgA-SARS-CoV-2 across a dilution range of 1:1000 to 1:200 v/v in a phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) solution, with a limit of detection calculated at 1:1601 v/v. This device shows considerable potential because of its fast response time, miniaturized design facilitated by SPCEs, reduced sample volume requirements, high sensitivity and specificity, low detection limits, and signal enhancement achieved through nanomaterial integration.

Abstract
Fluorescent turn-on receptors are extensively employed for the detection of Zn ions contamination in the environment due to its simplicity, convenience and portability. However, developing highly sensitive and cell-imageable fluorescent turn-on probe for the recognition of Zn ions in living organisms remains a significant challenge. Herein, we have successfully synthesized a novel Schiff base probe (H2L) with a significant fluorescence turn-on response (Zn ions) by one-step synthetic method. In this work, H2L exhibited high sensitivity to Zn2+ ions upon interaction with various common metal ions in HEPES buffer solution. Its detection limit is 1.87 × 10-7 M, which is lower than the requirement of Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines. The fluorescence titration and Job's plot analysis suggested a 1:1 binding ratio between the probe and Zn ion, and the single-crystal structures obtained further confirmed this inference. In addition, the fluorescent sensor demonstrated recyclability, maintaining its fluorescence intensity for up to 6 cycles without significant decrease, which holds promise for future investigations on reversible fluorescent chemosensors. Notably, fluorescence imaging experiments demonstrated that H2L could be successfully used for the detection of Zn2+ in live cells.

Abstract
In this report, a facile and label-free electrochemical RNA biosensor is developed by exploiting methylene blue (MB) as an electroactive positive ligand of G-quadruplex. The electrochemical response mechanism of the nucleic acid assay was based on the change in differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) signal of adsorbed MB on the immobilized human telomeric G-quadruplex DNA with a loop that is complementary to the target RNA. Hybridization between synthetic positive control RNA and G-quadruplex DNA probe on the transducer platform rendered a conformational change of G-quadruplex to double-stranded DNA (dsDNA), and increased the redox current of cationic MB π planar ligand at the sensing interface, thereby the electrochemical signal of the MB-adsorbed duplex is proportional to the concentration of target RNA, with SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) RNA as the model. Under optimal conditions, the target RNA can be detected in a linear range from 1 zM to 1 μM with a limit of detection (LOD) obtained at 0.59 zM for synthetic target RNA and as low as 1.4 copy number for positive control plasmid. This genosensor exhibited high selectivity towards SARS-CoV-2 RNA over other RNA nucleotides, such as SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV. The electrochemical RNA biosensor showed DPV signal, which was proportional to the 2019-nCoV_N_positive control plasmid from 2 to 200000 copies (R2 = 0.978). A good correlation between the genosensor and qRT-PCR gold standard was attained for the detection of SARS-CoV-2 RNA in terms of viral copy number in clinical samples from upper respiratory specimens.

Abstract
A pyrene-based fluorescent chemosensor APSB [N-(pyrene-1-ylmethylene) anthracen-2-amine] was designed and developed by a simple condensation reaction between pyrene carboxaldehyde and 2-aminoanthracene. The APSB fluorescent sensor selectively binds Fe3+ in the presence of other metal ions. Apart from this, APSB shows high selectivity and sensitivity toward Fe3+ ion detection. The detection limit for APSB was 1.95 nM, and the binding constant (K b) was obtained as 8.20 × 105 M-1 in DMSO/water (95/5, v/v) medium. The fluorescence quantum yields for APSB and APSB-Fe3+ were calculated as 0.035 and 0.573, respectively. The function of this fluorescent sensor APSB can be explained through the photo-induced electron transfer mechanism which was further proved by density functional theory studies. Finally, a live-cell image study of APSB in HeLa cells was also carried out to investigate the cell permeability of APSB and its efficiency for selective detection of Fe3+ in living cells.
