Abstract
OBJECTIVES To find predictive biomarkers for recurrence and progression of meningioma. BACKGROUND Despite great advances in meningioma treatment, the prognosis remained unfavorable due to the high recurrence rate. METHODS In this study, we evaluated the immunohistochemical expression of FOXM1, MMP-9, and Ki67 in 50 cases of intracranial meningioma to detect its potential role in meningioma progression, recurrence, and patients' survival. RESULTS Strong FOXM1 expression was detected in 20% of the cases and was significantly associated with meningioma grade ( P = 0.002) and peritumoral brain edema (PTBE; P <0.001). Strong MMP-9 expression was noted in 32% of the cases and was significantly associated with meningioma grade and PTBE ( P <0.001, P <0.001, respectively). High Ki67 was noted in 50% and significantly associated with tumor grade and PTBE ( P <0.001, P = 0.002, respectively). The follow-up period revealed that meningiomas with strong FOXM1, strong MMP-9, and high Ki67 expression were associated with tumor recurrence, shorter OS, and recurrence-free survival. Furthermore, up-regulation of FOXM1 and MMP-9 expression had a significant relation with poor clinical response to the therapy ( P = 0.010, P = 0. 001, respectively). However, high Ki67 cases were more sensitive to clinical therapy ( P = 0.005). CONCLUSION Strong FOXM1, strong MMP-9, and high Ki67 in meningiomas indicate highly aggressive tumors with a shortened survival rate, dismal outcome, and high risk of recurrence after the standard protocol of therapy.

Abstract
BACKGROUND While several risk factors for recurrences have been defined, the topographic pattern of meningioma recurrences after surgical resection has been scarcely investigated. The possibility of theoretically predicting the site of recurrence not only allows us to better understand the pathogenetic bases of the disease and consequently to drive the development of new targeted therapies, but also guides the decision-making process for treatment strategies and tailored follow-ups to decrease/prevent recurrence. METHODS The authors performed a comprehensive and detailed systematic literature review of the EMBASE and MEDLINE electronic online databases regarding the topographic pattern of recurrence after surgical treatment for intracranial meningiomas. Demographics and histopathological, neuroradiological and treatment data, pertinent to the topography of recurrences, as well as time to recurrences, were extracted and analyzed. RESULTS Four studies, including 164 cases of recurrences according to the inclusion criteria, were identified. All studies consider the possibility of recurrence at the previous dural site; three out of four, which are the most recent, consider 1 cm outside the previous dural margin to be the main limit to distinguish recurrences closer to the previous site from those more distant. Recurrences mainly occur within or close to the surgical bed; higher values of proliferation index are associated with recurrences close to the original site rather than within it. CONCLUSIONS Further studies, including genomic characterization of different patterns of recurrence, will better clarify the main features affecting the topography of recurrences. A comparison between topographic classifications of intracranial meningioma recurrences after surgery and after radiation treatment could provide further interesting information.

Abstract
Computed tomography (CT) scans of acute cerebral hemorrhage are often characterized by high-density imaging with occasional mixed density and low-density imaging features. Possible reasons for this are a lack of blood coagulation, extravasation of cerebrospinal fluid, and brain tissue edema. It is rarely due to the accumulation of lipid components associated with hyperlipidemia. In the present case, preoperative lipid tests and the intraoperative finding of a large amount of milky white fluid surrounding the hematoma confirmed that the low-density imaging surrounding the hematoma visible on the CT scan represented a rare case of lipid accumulation.

Abstract
BACKGROUNDS Lymphoplasmacyte-rich meningioma(LPM) is a rare subtype of meningioma with a low degree of malignancy and an overall preferable prognosis. The purpose of this article is to increase the understanding of the disease, reduce misdiagnosis, and improve prognosis. METHODS A search was conducted in the PubMed database for English articles published from 1993 to 2023. The keywords were "lymphoplasmacyte-rich (all fields) and meningioma (all fields) and English (lang)" and "lymphoplasmacyte-rich meningioma (title/abstract) and English (lang)".We further analyzed the clinical manifestations, imaging manifestations, pathological features, treatment strategies, and prognosis of LPM.The possible prognostic indicators were analyzed by the log-rank test and Pearson's chi-squared test. RESULTS Fourteen reports with 95 LPM patients were included in this report, including 47 males and 48 females who were diagnosed between the ages of 9 and 79, with an average age of 45 years. The most common clinical manifestations are headache and limb movement disorders. In most cases, the tumor occurred on the convex portion of the brain. All tumors showed significant enhancement, with homogeneous enhancement being more common, and most patients showed peritumoral edema. Postoperative pathological EMA, LCA, and vimentin positivity were helpful for the final diagnosis of the patient. Log-rank tests showed a correlation between complete resection and better prognosis and recurrence. CONCLUSION There is a lack of significant differences in the clinical symptoms and imaging manifestations of LPM compared to other diseases that need to be differentiated, and a clear diagnosis requires pathological examination. After standardized surgical treatment, the recurrence rate and mortality rate of LPM are both low. Complete surgical resection of tumors is associated with a better prognosis and lower recurrence rate.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Maximal surgical resection remains the treatment of choice for grade II meningiomas, and for some authors it is sufficient to guarantee a long indolent course even without postsurgical radiotherapy (RT), but there is no consensus on the use of RT in this patient population. METHODS We retrospectively compared clinical and radiologic outcomes between World Health Organization grade I (group A) and grade II (group B) surgically treated meningiomas, focusing on the role of adjuvant RT. We registered clinical, surgical, and radiologic data to detect differences in survival and functional outcome between the 2 groups. RESULTS The final cohort consisted of 284 patients for group A and 94 patients for group B. Group B showed a higher risk of developing recurrence independently of the extent of resection (7.75% for Group A vs. 27.7% for Group B, P = 0.01). Patients who did not undergo adjuvant RT documented recurrence in 50% of cases, compared with 19% of patients who underwent RT (P = 0.024). There is a weak difference in the risk of developing postoperative seizures in the group submitted to radiotherapy (P = 0.08). Performance status remained stable for both groups, but for Group B it tended to decrease significantly after 1 year with regard to extent of resection and RT. CONCLUSIONS Recurrence is more frequent for grade II meningiomas, even though there are no significant differences in terms of complications and functional outcome. Radiotherapy in grade II meningiomas does indeed lead to better control of recurrence but leads to an increased risk of seizures and reduced performance status.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The management of soft-tissue sarcoma (STS) relies on a multidisciplinary approach involving specialized oncological surgery combined with other adjuvant therapies to achieve optimal local disease control. Purpose and Results: Genomic and transcriptomic pseudocapsules of 20 prospective sarcomas were analyzed and revealed to be correlated with a higher risk of recurrence after surgery. CONCLUSIONS A peritumoral environment that has been remodeled and infiltrated by M2 macrophages, and is less expressive of healthy tissue, would pose a significant risk of relapse and require more aggressive treatment strategies.
