Abstract
OBJECTIVE People vaccinated with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) (severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 [SARS-CoV-2]) mRNA vaccine have reported experiencing various adverse effects. For instance, reproductive-age women have presented with complaints of abnormal uterine bleeding or menstrual cycle changes. We speculated that differences in basal sex hormone levels before and after vaccination may be present in women who experienced irregular bleeding or menstrual cycle changes; thus, this study aimed to investigate the differences in basal sex hormone levels of women before and after two doses of SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccination. METHODS This retrospective study included patients who received SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccines between January 2021 and February 2022 at a single center. In an outpatient setting, patients were queried regarding their menstrual cycle, the date of SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccination, vaccination type, and vaccination side effects. Differences in basal hormone levels (menstrual cycle days 2-3, follicle-stimulating hormone [FSH], luteinizing hormone [LH], and estradiol) before and after vaccination were compared. RESULTS Among the 326 patients, patients with no laboratory records of the hormones were excluded. The median time interval between SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccination and the laboratory test day was 79 days (interquartile range, 44 to 127). A comparative analysis of these hormones before and after vaccination revealed no significant differences. Subgroup analyses based on age and reported adverse events also found no statistically significant differences. CONCLUSION This study showed no significant differences in basal hormone levels (FSH, LH, and estradiol) before and after SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccination.

Abstract
Cerebral venous thrombosis accounts for 0.5% to 3% of all strokes. The most vulnerable populations include young individuals, women of reproductive age, and patients with a prothrombotic state. The clinical presentation of cerebral venous thrombosis is diverse (eg, headaches, seizures), requiring a high level of clinical suspicion. Its diagnosis is based primarily on magnetic resonance imaging/magnetic resonance venography or computed tomography/computed tomographic venography. The clinical course of cerebral venous thrombosis may be difficult to predict. Death or dependence occurs in 10% to 15% of patients despite intensive medical treatment. This scientific statement provides an update of the 2011 American Heart Association scientific statement for the diagnosis and management of cerebral venous thrombosis. Our focus is on advances in the diagnosis and management decisions of patients with suspected cerebral venous thrombosis. We discuss evidence for the use of anticoagulation and endovascular therapies and considerations for craniectomy. We also provide an algorithm to optimize the management of patients with cerebral venous thrombosis and those with progressive neurological deterioration or thrombus propagation despite maximal medical therapy.

Abstract
PURPOSE Studies on the detection of COVID-19 vaccine signals in South Korea are insufficient. Therefore, to investigate adverse events (AEs) that might be associated with COVID-19 vaccines, signals were detected using spontaneous reports from South Korea. We compared the signals with the vaccine insert lists of the regulators in the four countries. METHODS Spontaneous reports from 62 sites were collected by the National Medical Center between January 2013 and May 2022. A descriptive analysis of AEs associated with COVID-19 vaccines (Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, and Janssen) was performed, and the proportional reporting ratio, reporting odds ratio, and information component were calculated. We performed five analyses, with five cases and one control group. RESULTS During the study period, 68 355 cases were reported, of which 12 485 were COVID-19 vaccine AEs. Injection site pain (2198 cases, 17.6%), myalgia (1552 cases, 12.4%), headache (1145 cases, 9.2%), pyrexia (1003 cases, 8.0%), and fatigue (735 cases, 5.9%) were frequently reported. When comparing all COVID-19 vaccines with other viral vaccines, 20 signals were detected, of which cachexia, dyspepsia, abdominal discomfort, and mood swings were not listed on the vaccine inserts in all four countries. Overall, 20, 17, 29, and 9 signals were detected in vaccines developed by Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, and Janssen, respectively. CONCLUSIONS Based on a disproportionate analysis of COVID-19 vaccine AEs using spontaneous reports from South Korea, different signals were detected for each vaccine manufacturer.

Abstract
Rising concerns of cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST) and other forms of venous thromboembolism have been associated with the SARS-CoV-2 vaccinations. Adverse effects with vector-based vaccines are well documented in the literature, while less is known about the mRNA vaccines. This report documents a case of CVST in a 32-year-old female patient who received her second Pfizer mRNA COVID-19 vaccination 16 days prior to hospital admission and had started oral combined contraceptives approximately 4 months beforehand. Clinicians should be cognizant of the possibility that mRNA vaccines, when combined with other risk factors like oral contraceptive pill use, may enhance one's hypercoagulable status.

Abstract
After the outbreak of the pandemic due to COVID-19 infection, several vaccines were developed on short timelines to counteract the public health crisis. To allow the administration of mRNA vaccines through a faster-paced approval process, the Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) was applied. The Ba.5 (omicron) variant of SARS-CoV-2 is the predominant one at this moment. Its highly mutable single-stranded RNA genome, along with its high transmissivity, generated concern about the effectiveness of vaccination. The interaction between the vaccine and the host cell is finely regulated by miRNA machinery, a complex network that oversees a wide range of biological processes. The dysregulation of miRNA machinery has been associated with the development of clinical complications during COVID-19 infection and, moreover, to several human pathologies, among which is cancer disease. Now that in some areas, four doses of mRNA vaccine have been administered, it is natural to wonder about its effectiveness and long-term safety.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION/AIMS There are limited studies on the association of COVID-19 vaccination with neuralgic amyotrophy (NA). Therefore, we evaluated the association between COVID-19 vaccination and the occurrence of NA. METHODS We explored unexpected safety signals for NA related to COVID-19 vaccination through disproportionality analysis using VigiBase, the World Health Organization's pharmacovigilance database. RESULTS On October 15, 2021, 335 cases of NA were identified in the database. The median time to onset of NA after vaccination was around 2 weeks. A significant signal of disproportionality of NA was observed for the ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 vaccine (AstraZeneca) (information component [IC]025 = 0.33, reporting odds ratio [ROR]025 = 1.30) and two mRNA-based COVID-19 vaccines (BNT162b2 [Pfizer and BioNTech] and mRNA-1273 [Moderna]) (IC025 = 1.74, ROR025 = 3.82) compared with the entire database. However, when compared with influenza vaccines, we did not detect any signal of disproportionality of NA for both the ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 vaccine (IC025 = -2.71, ROR025 = 0.05) and mRNA-based COVID-19 vaccines (IC025 = -1.38, ROR025 = 0.13). DISCUSSION A weak association was observed between NA and COVID-19 vaccines. However, the risk did not surpass that of influenza vaccines.

Abstract
While vaccination against COVID-19 is still ongoing, some rare adverse events temporally related to vaccinations have been reported, particularly with ChAdOx1 nCoV-19. Here, a 77-year-old male presented to our outpatient department with persistent ptosis of his left eye for 1 month. He initially received vaccination with ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 and developed symptoms of Bell's palsy 3 days later. He received a 14-day course of prednisolone, but the ptosis persisted. Marin-Amat syndrome was compatible with his symptoms of ptosis exacerbation during orbicularis oris exertion. A temporal correlation between ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 vaccination and Bell's palsy without infectious or autoimmune diseases was delineated. Further studies are needed to clarify the possible relationship between these two events.

Abstract
The COVID-19 mRNA vaccine is one of the most effective strategies used to fight against COVID-19. Recently, venous thromboembolism (VTE) events after COVID-19 mRNA vaccination have been reported in various research. Such a concern may hamper the ongoing COVID-19 vaccination campaign. Based on the US Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System data, this modified self-controlled case series study investigated the association of COVID-19 mRNA vaccination with VTE events among US adults. We found the VTE incidence rate in the recommended dose interval does not change significantly after receiving COVID-19 mRNA vaccines. This conclusion still holds if the analysis is stratified by age and gender. The VTE onset may not be significantly associated with COVID-19 mRNA vaccination.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Limited information is available on associations between COVID-19 vaccines and central nervous system (CNS) demyelinating diseases. OBJECTIVES We investigated potential safety signals for CNS demyelinating diseases related to COVID-19 vaccines using the World Health Organization pharmacovigilance database. METHODS Disproportionality analyses of CNS demyelinating disease following COVID-19 vaccination were performed by calculating the information component (IC) or the reporting odds ratio (ROR) compared with those for the entire database and for all other viral vaccines. RESULTS We identified 715 cases of optic neuritis, 515 of myelitis, 220 of acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM), and 2840 total CNS demyelinating events adverse drug reactions from July 2020 through February 2022. For mRNA-based and ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 vaccines, there were no potential safety signals of disproportionality for optic neuritis (IC025 = -0.93, ROR025 = 0.38; IC025 = -1.76, ROR025 = 0.26), myelitis (IC025 = -0.69, ROR025 = 0.50; IC025 = -0.63, ROR025 = 0.53), ADEM (IC025 = -1.05, ROR025 = 0.33; IC025 = -1.76, ROR025 = 0.20), or overall CNS demyelinating disease events (IC025 = -0.66, ROR025 = 0.52; IC025 = -1.31, ROR025 = 0.34) compared with other viral vaccines. CONCLUSION As with other viral vaccines, our disproportionality analyses indicate that the risk of COVID-19 vaccine-associated CNS demyelinating disease was low.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIMS Vaccinations against the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 which causes COVID-19 have been administered worldwide. We aimed to investigate associations of COVID-19 vaccination with the occurrence of Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS). METHODS We explored potential safety signals regarding the development of GBS using disproportionality analyses to compare COVID-19 vaccination with all adverse drug reaction (ADR) reports and influenza vaccines reported to VigiBase. RESULTS As of October 15, 2021, a total of 2,163 cases (0.13%) of GBS and its variants (including 46 cases of Miller-Fisher syndrome and 13 cases of Bickerstaff's encephalitis) were identified in entire ADR database after vaccination with the ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 (AstraZeneca, Cambridge, England) or the two messenger RNA-based COVID-19 (BNT162b2 ; Pfizer and BioNTech) or mRNA-1273;Moderna) vaccines. The median time to onset of GBS after vaccination was around two weeks. The ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 and two messenger RNA-based COVID-19 vaccines demonstrated a higher risk for GBS against entire database (information component [IC]025 =1.73 reporting odds ratio [ROR]025 =3.51; IC025 =1.07, ROR025 =2.22, respectively). When compared with influenza vaccines, neither the ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 nor mRNA-based vaccines were found to be associated with greater risks of GBS (IC025 =-1.84, ROR025 =0.11; IC025 =-1.86, ROR025 =0.06, respectively). INTERPRETATION Although potential safety signals associated with GBS COVID-19 vaccines have been identified, the risk of GBS from COVID-19 vaccines were low and did not surpass those of influenza vaccines; however, because of the heterogeneity of the sources of information in the WHO pharmacovigilance database, further epidemiological studies are warranted to confirm these observations. Abstract
Systemic capillary leak syndrome (SCLS) is a rare and potentially life-threatening disorder characterized by reversible plasma extravasation and vascular collapse. This study aimed to investigate the association between different types of COVID-19 vaccine and SCLS in a real-world setting. We used individual case safety reports of SCLS after COVID-19 vaccination from the WHO pharmacovigilance database, VigiBase. A disproportionality analysis of ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 and mRNA-based vaccines was performed. The information component (IC) and reporting odds ratio (ROR) were calculated from the entire database and viral vaccines data subset. A positive 95% lower end of the IC (IC025) value (>0) using Bayesian neural network analysis and lower end of the ROR 95% confidence interval (ROR025) ≥1 were defined as the ADR signal detection threshold. A total of 101 (0.004%) events of SCLS were identified. A significant potential signal of disproportionality of SCLS was noted in ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 when applied as the denominator for entire database (IC025 = 0.24, ROR025 = 1.23) and all viral vaccines (IC025 = 0.41, ROR025 = 1.59). No significant potential signal was noted for two mRNA-based vaccines as denominators for the entire database (IC025 = −0.49, ROR025 = 0.71) and all viral vaccines (IC025 = −0.32, ROR025 = 0.77). Contrary to ChAdOx1 nCoV-1, no safety signal for developing SCLS was identified for mRNA-based vaccines.
