Abstract
Any premature birth can be traumatic, and a risk factor for the parenting process and the quality of parent-baby interactions. Average prematurity is no exception. It can undermine essential parenting functions, such as availability and sensitivity to the child, and generate interactive dysfunctions within parent-baby dyads. In some cases, it can lead to genuine psychopathological states.

Abstract
Preterm birth accounts for nearly 15 million births annually worldwide and constitutes a considerable risk factor for atypical development. This birth context is a source of stress for the parents and often leads to an early separation between their child and them. Research on the influence of the birth status on the infant's attachment style has shown no systematic link between preterm birth and the development of insecure attachment in children born preterm. This has opened up research perspectives in understanding the role of environmental factors. A literature review was conducted to present an overview of the current findings on parental representations (PR), particularly maternal ones, and their role in the context of preterm birth. PR quality appears to be associated with specific dyadic interaction patterns, thus exposing vulnerability factors. Studies exploring PR have pointed out the importance of considering parental mental elaboration mechanisms and contextual moderators in supporting socio-emotional development among children born preterm. We discussed the challenges of investigating PR in the context of preterm birth for future studies and emphasized the need for research studies to be conducted according to a developmental and non-deterministic perspective. This narrative review also aimed to highlight the importance of family centered care interventions in the context of a public policy focused on the child's "First 1,000 days" of life.

Abstract
Between 30 and 50 % of very premature babies have disorders that can affect their schooling, training and future life. Their origin is often multifactorial, and environmental, socioeconomic and family factors can influence the subsequent development of these children. Among these factors, the neonatal environment, which is generally very noisy and bright, as well as the numerous tactile solicitations, have been blamed. In 1978, the kangaroo method transformed this reality by improving the parent-baby relationship and reducing neonatal mortality. Since then, a trend has developed around developmental care with the Neonatal Individualized Developmental Care Assessment Program and the approach of André Bullinger.

Abstract
Objective: To assess different ways of caring for preterm infants’ development and for their families in neonatal units, with emphasis on the studies by André Bullinger. Data source: A review of the literature in the databases PubMed, SciELO, and the Cairn.info portal, which publishes reviews in human sciences in French. Also, the books and articles of André Bullinger, available only in French, were reviewed. Data synthesis: This review includes the Kangaroo Method, which is based on skin to skin contact and the encouragement of breastfeeding; the Newborn Individualized Developmental Care and Assessment Program (NIDCAP), based on the Synaptic Developmental Theory and aiming to positively change the neonatal environment, having the preterm newborn as the actor of their own development and the mother as a regulator; and the Bullinger Approach, which uses a sensory-motor perspective to approach child development, including preterm infants’ development. Conclusions: The Kangaroo Method has changed child developmental care in countries with limited financial resources. NIDCAP was shown to be efficient, although only a few long-term studies have been conducted on the subject. The Bullinger Approach is well diffused in European neonatal units, with promising results for the prevention of neurodevelopmental disabilities, especially those related to orality

Abstract
CONTEXT AND PURPOSE Prematurity is a situation that can disrupt parent-child interactions. We hypothesize that establishing relationships with parents in a context of extreme prematurity can alter the development of secure attachment representations in the child. Furthermore, we hypothesize that secure maternal representations and their possible interactions with prematurity factors prevent the development of insecure or disorganized attachment in the child. In addition, maternal representations and their possible interactions with factors related to prematurity may prevent or accentuate the development of an insecure or disorganized attachment in the child. METHODS AND ANALYSIS This is a longitudinal, prospective, exploratory, and bi-centric study. Children born in the neonatal intensive care units of Angers or Nantes University Hospitals with a gestational age of up to 28 weeks will be included in the study. The main objective is to describe the attachment representations at 3 and 5 years through the Attachment Story Completion Task scales and to analyze them in regard to the children's neurocognitive and behavioral outcomes as well as maternal attachment and mental health. ETHICS The study file received a favorable opinion for the implementation of this research on February 18, 2020 - ID-RCB no. 2019-A03352-55 (File 2-20-007 id6699) 2°HPS. This study has received authorization from the French Data Protection Authority (CNIL) under no. 920229. DISCUSSION A better understanding of attachment representations in extreme prematurity and their possible associations with children's neurocognitive and behavioral outcomes as well as maternal attachment and mental health could pave the way for individualized care at an early stage, or even interventions during the neonatal period to improve the outcome of these vulnerable newborns. TRIAL REGISTRATION [ClinicalTrials.gov], identifier [NCT04304846].

Abstract
The benefits of book-reading interventions on language development in full-term infants have been well investigated. Because children born preterm face a greater risk of cognitive, language and emotional impairments, this narrative review examines the theoretical evidence, empirical findings, and practical challenges for introducing such intervention to this population. The effect of shared book interventions on typically developing infants is mediated by three components: a linguistic aspect (i.e., exposure to enriched linguistic input), an interactive aspect (i.e., eliciting more synchronous and contingent communication), and a parental aspect (i.e., reducing parental stress and increasing sense of control). Parental shared book reading in a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) was found to be feasible and well accepted. It provides concrete support for positive parenting in a highly stressful context. Preliminary evidence supports a positive effect of shared reading sessions in physiological parameters of preterm infants in NICU. One study showed that parental shared book reading in an NICU is associated with lower decline in language development during the first 24 months compared to a historical control group. Findings from a community-based birth cohort confirm the positive effect of this intervention on cognitive development with a 2-year-follow up. More structured clinical trials are now needed to confirm these preliminary findings. Questions remain about possible moderators of these interventions, in particular cultural features.

Abstract

Abstract
Research has shown a high rate of autism spectrum disorders among very low birth weight children over the past decade. This paper proposes a literature review on this topic. Two generations of research have followed one another. The first retrospective studies found a high rate of ASD among premature babies. The second generation of prospective studies underlined and relativized this risk. Prospective research using screening tools (M-CHAT) have found around 20 % ASD, whereas 2 studies assessing the actual diagnosis found 5 % and 8 % ASD, 10 to 12 times more than in the general population. A number of hypotheses have been put forward to explain these high rates of ASD: sensory impairment associated with prematurity, white matter abnormalities, and cerebellar impairment. The authors propose complex models that take into account neurological deficits and the effects of perinatal events on interactive dynamics between infants and their caregivers. These models aim to allow suitable prevention and care for premature children with autism, a heavy additional handicap.
