Abstract
BACKGROUND The PI3K protein kinase B (PI3K/AKT) signaling pathway has crucial roles in insulin signaling and other endocrine disorders. The purpose of this study is to validate the association of PCOS with PI3K/AKT pathway target genes, miRNA486-5p, and miRNA483-5p as well as to evaluate the outcome of metformin on the pathogenesis of PCOS. METHODS: This case-controlled study included 3 subject groups: twenty healthy females (control group), twenty PCOS females before treatment, and twenty PCOS females treated with metformin at a dose (500 mg 3 times per day for 3 months). The following gene expressions were assessed by real-time PCR: PI3K, AKT, ERK, GLUT4, miRNA486-5p, and miRNA483-5p in the whole blood. RESULTS There was a significant decrease in miRNA486-5p and miRNA483-5p in the PCOS group with a significant negative correlation between miRNA486-5p and PI3K and a significant negative correlation between miRNA483-5p and ERK. Metformin treatment resulted in significant elevation of the studied miRNA, significant downregulation of PI3K/AKT target genes, and significant amelioration of the gonadotrophic hormonal imbalance and insulin resistance markers: fasting blood glucose, HBA1C, fasting insulin, and GLUT4 gene expression. CONCLUSIONS miRNA486 and miRNA483 downregulation may contribute to the etiology of PCOS, influence glucose metabolism, and result in IR in PCOS. Metformin's upregulation of those miRNAs affects glucose metabolism by controlling the expression of GLUT4, ameliorates PCOS-related insulin resistance, and improves PCOS-related hormonal imbalance by controlling the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway.

Abstract
Adipocyte fatty acid-binding protein (A-FABP) is mainly expressed in adipocytes. The risk of abdominal obesity and autoimmune thyroid disease is increased in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). The objective of this study was to explore the relationship of serum concentration of A-FABP with parameters of obesity, e.g., waist to hip ratio (WHR) and the amount of adipose tissue assessed by bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA), and thyroid hormone homeostasis in women with PCOS. We examined 66 women with PCOS and 67 healthy women. Serum concentrations of A-FABP and thyroid hormones were measured; the FT3/FT4 ratio, thyroid-stimulating hormone index (TSHI), thyrotrope thyroxine resistance index (TT4RI) and thyroid feedback quantile-based index (TFQI) were calculated. In the PCOS group, serum concentrations of A-FABP, FT3 and the FT3/FT4 ratio were significantly higher in comparison to the control group (all p < 0.05). A correlation of A-FABP with WHR (r = 0.26, p = 0.04) and the percentage of adipose tissue (r = 0.33, p = 0.01) has been found only in women with PCOS. We observed no correlation between serum levels of A-FABP and TSHI, TT4RI or TFQI in women with PCOS (all p > 0.05). Our results indicate that A-FABP is an adipokine that may be connected with abdominal obesity independently of thyroid hormone homeostasis in PCOS patients.

Abstract
Objective Low resting metabolic rate (RMR), as a risk factor for weight gain and obesity, can be influenced by many factors. Empirical research has confirmed the role of appetite and related hormones in obesity and energy intake. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between appetite and related hormones in overweight or obese Iranian women with normal and hypo RMR. Methods This case–control study was conducted on 42 Iranian adult women (21 cases, and 21 controls), aged 18–48 years. An impedance body analyzer was used to obtain the body composition and an indirect calorimeter was used to assess the RMR. The Flint questionnaire was used to assess appetite, dietary intake, and physical activity were assessed by FFQ and IPAQ questionnaires respectively, and ELISA kits were used to assess leptin, ghrelin, and insulin hormones. Results The results of the study demonstrated a negative association between ghrelin hormone level (β = -0.34, 95%CI = -61.70,-3.86, P-value = 0.027) and RMR, and a positive association between insulin hormone level (β = 0.48, 95%CI = 9.38–34.35, P-value = 0.001) and RMR. Also, results of the appetite questionnaire showed that, in general, both appetite (β = 0.32, 95%CI = -0.10–2.99 P-value = 0.044) and hunger variable (β = 0.30, 95%CI = 0.04–5.87, P-value = 0.047) have a positive association with RMR. There was no significant association between leptin levels and RMR. Conclusion It is evident that appetite and related hormones have a potential role in promoting a normal RMR.

Abstract
Background Serum leptin has been considered as an important measurable diagnostic and prognostic biomarker for polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), although its evidence for use in clinical practice is limited. We aim to synthesize the available evidence on the clinical use of serum leptin values in PCOS by doing a systematic review and meta-analysis of studies. Objective To conduct a meta-analysis to determine the pooled effect size of the association of leptin levels in patients with PCOS. Methods We searched electronic databases, i.e., PubMed, Google Scholar, Web of Science, ClinicalTrials.gov, and Medline from inception to September 2020, keeping filters for human studies and published in the English language. We used the random-effects model if heterogeneity between the studies was > 50%; otherwise, a fixed-effect model was applied to determine the standardized mean difference with 95% CI for comparison of leptin level between cases and controls. All the statistical analyses were completed using software STATA version 13. Results The meta-analysis included a total of 35 studies involving 2015 cases and 1767 controls that suggested statistically significantly higher leptin levels in the women with PCOS as compared to controls (SMD, 1.76, 95% CI 1.28 to 2.23, P < 0.001). In the stratified analysis when only high methodological quality studies were included, we did not observe a statistically significant difference in the leptin level between PCOS and controls (SMD 0.68, 95% CI -0.09 to 1.46). Analysis restricted to low methodological quality studies observed statistically significant high leptin levels in PCOS women as compared to controls (SMD 2.24, 95% CI 1.65 to 2.83). Conclusion The available evidence suggests that elevated leptin levels may be associated with risk of PCOS as compared to controls; however, failure to observe the similar association in high methodological quality studies demands further well-designed adequately powered studies to validate the findings.

Abstract
Background: Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is a major form of anovulatory infertility in women. It is often associated with obesity and insulin resistance (IR), both of which are linked to leptin and its receptors. Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate the interrelationship between serum leptin level with anthropometric indices of obesity, lipid profile, IR, and with circulating steroidal hormones in PCOS women. Settings and Design: An observational case–control study was conducted in a medical college and hospital setting. Methods: Ninety diagnosed cases of PCOS along with ninety age-matched normal women were enrolled. Serum insulin, lipid profile, steroidal hormones, and serum leptin were estimated. IR was calculated using the Homeostatic Model Assessment-IR. Anthropometric measurements were also taken of each study participant. Statistical Analysis: Descriptive statistics along with independent sample t-test and Pearson (r) correlation coefficients were used. Results: Women with PCOS had high mean value of waist circumference (P = 0.00), hip circumference (P = 0.00), and hormonal levels than the control group (luteinizing hormone [LH] [P = 0.00], testosterone [P = 0.00], LH/follicle-stimulating hormone ratio [P = 0.00], leptin [P = 0.00], and IR [P = 0.00]). Serum insulin levels (P = 0.02), IR (P = 0.01), body mass index (BMI) (P = 0.03), and fasting blood sugar (P = 0.01) had a positive correlation with leptin. Insulin (P = 0.01), IR (P = 0.02), fasting blood sugar (P = 0.001), and leptin (P = 0.00) were more in the obese control group. Conclusion: Serum leptin level is raised in PCOS patients, and it is correlated positively with BMI, fasting blood sugar, insulin metabolism, and IR.

Abstract
Background Adipokine leptin plays a crucial role in metabolic and reproductive functions. Leptin receptor has a soluble form that binds to leptin, thus modulating its level in the circulation. It has been indicated that the levels of leptin and leptin receptor and also LEP rs7799039 and LEPR rs1137101 polymorphisms are associated with metabolic disorders. In the present study, we assessed the levels of leptin and soluble leptin receptor (sOB-R), and also the frequency of rs7799039 and rs1137101 polymorphisms in healthy fertile women and patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), inclusive of PCOS-infertile and PCOS-recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL) subjects. Methods A total of 324 PCOS patients- including 199 infertile cases and 125 patients with a history of RPL- and 144 healthy controls were enrolled in this study. Biochemical parameters and plasma leptin and sOB-R levels were measured by ELISA and the genotypes of rs7799039 and rs1137101 polymorphisms were determined using PCR- RFLP. Results Plasma leptin and sOB-R levels were significantly higher and lower in PCOS, PCOS-infertile and PCOS RPL groups, respectively. The GG genotype frequencies of rs7799039 and rs1137101 polymorphisms were significantly different between PCOS-infertile women and non-PCOS subjects (P = 0.043, OR = 0.47, 95% CI = 0.22–0.97, and P = 0.01, OR = 0.31, 95% CI = 0.12–0.75, respectively). Increased LEP levels were associated with the risk of PCOS and RPL in women with PCOS (P = 0.039, OR = 1.203, 95%CI = [1.009–1.435] and P = 0.012, OR = 1.267, 95% CI = [1.054–1.522], respectively). Conclusion Polymorphisms rs7799039 and rs1137101 and circulating leptin and sOB-R levels were associated with infertility in Iranian women with PCOS. Further studies are needed to reveal the role of leptin in PCOS pathogenesis.

Abstract
AIMS Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is a reproductive, endocrine and metabolic disorder. Less is known about the mechanism of its effect on uterine function and therapeutic potential of melatonin. Our aim was to evaluate uterine dysfunction(s) in letrozole induced PCOS and its possible rectification by melatonin. MAIN METHODS Adult female golden hamsters were divided into groups of Control (C), Melatonin (M; 1 mg/kg b.w.), Letrozole (L; 3 mg/kg b.w.) and combination of Letrozole+Melatonin (L + M; 3 mg/kg b.w. + 1 mg/kg b.w.) which were treated for 40 days. Analysis of serum testosterone/estradiol/progesterone/leptin/insulin, uterine histomorphometry, immunohistochemistry for proliferation cell nuclear antigen (PCNA), homeostatic assessment model of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR), western blotting for PCNA, androgen receptor (AR), insulin receptor (InsR), glucose tansporter-4 (GLUT-4), nuclear factor-kappa B (NFκB), cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) and biochemical analysis of superoxide dismutase (SOD)/catalase/lipid peroxidation (LPO) were done. KEY FINDINGS Serum testosterone, leptin and insulin increased while uterine InsR/GLUT-4 expression decreased in L group indicating metabolic abnormalities. Endometrial hyperplasia, increased expression of PCNA and AR indicated abnormal proliferation in L compared to C. Increased uterine oxidative load (SOD/catalase/LPO) and inflammatory markers NFκB/COX-2 expression in L was responsible for high tissue oxidative stress and inflammation. M administration normalized all the above parameters suggesting its ameliorative effect in L + M group. SIGNIFICANCE We report PCOS induced uterine dysfunction in Mesocricetus auratus for the first time. M administration restores uterine functions modulating cellular dynamicity, metabolic status, decreased oxidative and inflammatory load in PCOS hamsters. Therefore, we suggest the therapeutic potential of M against PCOS led uterine abnormalities to restore female fertility.

Abstract
Background and Aim We aimed to compare the levels of clinical, biochemical, hormonal, and metabolic parameters as well as serum CRP, fibrinogen, leptin, and adiponectin in cases with PCOS and control group to investigate whether they play a role in the etiology of the syndrome. Materials and Methods The present study included a total of 90 subjects, 45 subjects were diagnosed with PCOS (n = 45) and 45 subjects served as control group (n = 45). Serum CRP, fibrinogen, leptin, and adiponectin levels were analyzed for each subject. Results Serum CRP, fibrinogen, and leptin were found to be higher (statistically significant) in the group with PCOS as compared to the control group (p < 0.05). Serum Adiponectin was higher in the control group (statistically significantly) as compared with the patients in the PCOS group (p < 0.05). Conclusion CRP and fibrinogen (cardiac risk factor markers) increase in women with PCOS. The levels of leptin which affects metabolism increase, whereas the levels of adiponectin decrease.

Abstract
Women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) are at an increased risk of developing insulin resistance and abdominal obesity in the state of an improper diet balance. Leptin is a peptide considered to be a satiety hormone that plays an important role in the long-term energy balance, whereas ghrelin is a hormone that controls short-term appetite regulation and is considered a hunger hormone. The aim of the present study was to assess the relationship between serum leptin and ghrelin concentrations and the dietary macronutrient content in PCOS women. We examined 73 subjects: 39 women diagnosed with PCOS by the Rotterdam criteria and 34 healthy controls, matched by the body mass index. The subjects completed a consecutive three-day dietary diary to identify the macronutrient and micronutrient intake. Serum concentrations of leptin and total ghrelin were measured and homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) was calculated. The studied groups did not differ significantly in terms of the intake of macronutrients (proteins, fats, and carbohydrates) and serum concentrations of ghrelin and leptin (all p > 0.05). In the PCOS group, the serum leptin concentration positively correlated with the intake of total fat (r = 0.36, p = 0.02), total cholesterol (r = −0.36, p = 0.02), saturated fatty acids (r = 0.43, p < 0.01), and monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA) (r = 0.37, p = 0.02), whereas the serum ghrelin concentration correlated in an inverse manner with the intake of total fat (r = −0.37, p = 0.02), MUFA (r = −0.37, p = 0.02), polyunsaturated fatty acids (r = −0.34, p = 0.03), and long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (r = −0.38, p = 0.02). In this group, we also found a negative association of HOMA-IR with serum ghrelin levels (r = −0.4, p = 0.03) and a positive relationship with the serum leptin concentration (r = 0.5, p < 0.01) and relationships between HOMA-IR and total dietary fat (r = 0.38, p = 0.03) and MUFA (r = 0.35, p = 0.04) intake. In PCOS women, dietary components such as the total fat and type of dietary fat and HOMA-IR are positively connected to serum leptin concentrations and negatively connected to serum ghrelin concentrations, which may influence the energy balance.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a complex multifactorial disorder, affecting millions of women worldwide. The role of genetic polymorphisms of the KISS1 gene on the development of PCOS is still obscure. This study was designed to investigate the probable influence of KISS1 gene polymorphisms on PCOS and its associated variables: BMI, waist-hip ratio, kisspeptin, LH, FSH, and LH-FSH ratio. METHODS The study comprised 104 PCOS women and 109 controls, with age ranging from 19 to 36 years. BMI, waist-hip ratio, and circulating levels of kisspeptin, LH, and FSH were measured. DNA was extracted, and genotyping of the KISS1 gene was carried out by nucleotide sequencing. The PCOS-associated variables were analyzed in different genotypes of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of the KISS1 gene. RESULTS The values of waist-hip ratio (WHR), LH, and LH-FSH ratio were significantly higher in PCOS women than controls. BMI, kisspeptin, and FSH levels exhibited no significant difference between the groups. Six novel SNPs of KISS1 gene were identified. Three: rs372790354G > A, rs12998G > A, and rs35431622A > T were investigated. Among these SNPs, the genotype and allele frequencies of rs372790354 showed significant association with PCOS (GA: p = 0.018, AA: p = 0.022, mutant allele-A: p = 0.021) and the G allele was protective. The values of LH, kisspeptin, and WHR of PCOS women were significantly influenced (p < 0.05) by the AA genotype of rs372790354. The other two SNPs rs12998G > A and rs35431622A > T revealed no significant influence on PCOS and associated variables. Haplotypes were constructed, but there was no significant difference between the patients and controls. CONCLUSION In conclusion, this is the first study, which reports a significant influence of KISS1 gene polymorphism (rs372790354G > A) on PCOS and its associated variables. However, more extensive research is necessary to confirm these findings.

Abstract
Background Altered lifestyle and urbanization have potentially increased the prevalence of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) among the women in India. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the autonomic function and subclinical cognition impairment using evoked potentials in PCOS-affected young adolescents. Methods This was a cross-sectional study, approved by Indian Medical of Council Research as a short-term student project. The study was performed with adolescent girls (age group, 10-18 years) diagnosed as having PCOS, attending the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Sri Manakula Vinayagar Medical College and Hospital, Puducherry. Autonomic function was evaluated using heart rate variability and cognition employing auditory evoked potentials (P300 latency and amplitude) among the control group (n=30) and the PCOS group (n=30). Results Our study reports indicated that autonomic functions were significantly affected among the PCOS group compared to the control group (p=0.03), with sympathetic dominance and decreased vagal tone. P300 latency was prolonged and amplitude was decreased among the PCOS group, but the results were not statistically significant when compared to the control group. Body mass index showed significant correlation with sympathovagal imbalance. Conclusion The study indicates that autonomic functions are significantly altered in the PCOS group. Subclinical cognition impairment is seen among the PCOS group but is not pronounced enough to be proven statistically. This study informs adolescent girls to make early lifestyle changes as soon as possible before any significant clinical impairment occurs.

Abstract
Adipose tissue is an important endocrine organ that secretes a number of adipokines, like Leptin (LEP). The aim this study was to investigate the prevalence of single nucleotide polymorphisms in LEP gene (LEP 3'UTR A/C, -2548 G/A) and LEPR (K109R and Q223R) and their association with Leptin level and obesity. We recruited 169 non-obese (body mass index [BMI] = 24.51-3.69 kg/m2 ) and 160 obese (BMI = 36-4.78 kg/m2 ) patients. Genotyping was performed using polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism, BMI was calculated, and Leptin level was measured by ELISA. Statistical analyses were performed by spss19.0. According to LEP 3'UTR A/C polymorphism, AC and CC genotype carriers had higher Leptin levels than AA genotype carriers, respectively, 31[0.05-148.8] (P = .008) vs 41[0.05-111.6] (P = .003). The K109R polymorphism was associated with obesity (P = .025) and seems to significantly decrease the LEP levels (P < .001). Concerning LEP G2548A polymorphism, our results showed that the OR of obesity associated with 2548 AA/GG was 1.87[1.106-2.78] P = .028 vs 1.41[1.035-1.85] P = .045 for 223AA/GG polymorphism. In our haplotype analysis, one haplotype seems to be the more protective and one other seems to be the highest risk to obesity. LEP 3'UTR A/C and LEPR K109R polymorphisms were associated with Leptin level and obesity.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Conditions of excess androgen in women, such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), often exhibit intergenerational transmission. One way in which the risk for PCOS may be increased in daughters of affected women is through exposure to elevated androgens in utero. Hyperandrogenemic conditions have serious health consequences, including increased risk for hypertension and cardiovascular disease. Recently, gut dysbiosis has been found to induce hypertension in rats, such that blood pressure can be normalized through fecal microbial transplant. Therefore, we hypothesized that the hypertension seen in PCOS has early origins in gut dysbiosis caused by in utero exposure to excess androgen. We investigated this hypothesis with a model of prenatal androgen (PNA) exposure and maternal hyperandrogenemia by single-injection of testosterone cypionate or sesame oil vehicle (VEH) to pregnant dams in late gestation. We then completed a gut microbiota and cardiometabolic profile of the adult female offspring. RESULTS The metabolic assessment revealed that adult PNA rats had increased body weight and increased mRNA expression of adipokines: adipocyte binding protein 2, adiponectin, and leptin in inguinal white adipose tissue. Radiotelemetry analysis revealed hypertension with decreased heart rate in PNA animals. The fecal microbiota profile of PNA animals contained higher relative abundance of bacteria associated with steroid hormone synthesis, Nocardiaceae and Clostridiaceae, and lower abundance of Akkermansia, Bacteroides, Lactobacillus, Clostridium. The PNA animals also had an increased relative abundance of bacteria associated with biosynthesis and elongation of unsaturated short chain fatty acids (SCFAs). CONCLUSIONS We found that prenatal exposure to excess androgen negatively impacted cardiovascular function by increasing systolic and diastolic blood pressure and decreasing heart rate. Prenatal androgen was also associated with gut microbial dysbiosis and altered abundance of bacteria involved in metabolite production of short chain fatty acids. These results suggest that early-life exposure to hyperandrogenemia in daughters of women with PCOS may lead to long-term alterations in gut microbiota and cardiometabolic function.

Abstract
We aim to assess the effects of metformin treatment on metabolic and endocrine parameters and genes expression related to the insulin-responsive pathway in polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). This study comprises twenty-eight obese mice divided into three metformin-treated groups for seven and twenty days and eight nonobese and nontreated ones. We found a significant decrease in glycemia after metformin treatment at days seven and twenty. However, we did not observe differences in body weight measurement. Histologically, after twenty days we observed follicular development with regression of androgenic effects. Levels of IGF-1R protein expression were low after twenty days of treatment, but LEP proteins showed an overexpression in the ovarian stroma. We assessed the IGF-1R and LEP mRNAs levels; data showed a significant overexpression of LEP after seven days of treatment, while the IGF-1R was downregulated. Metformin therapy seems to exert a beneficial effect on histological and anovulatory features, reducing follicular number and pyknosis formation, possibly involved in the reversion of androgenic stimulus. Expression of IGF-1 and LEPR indicates a relevant role in androgenic features reversion present in PCOS, hormonal equilibrium, body weight regulation, and glucose metabolism, therefore, under phenotype obesity and infertility regulation in this model.

Abstract
Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is an endocrine-metabolic disorder characterized by hormonal disturbances including hyperandrogenemia, insulin resistance, and hyperinsulinemia culminating into obesity, multiple ovarian cysts and anovulatory infertility in women. There has been no effective medication against PCOS and its complication. However, weight loss can reduce insulin resistance, which in turn helps to restore hormonal balance and ovulation resulting to improved fertility. Previously, we reported that alkaline reduced water (ARW) could significantly reduce obesity by alleviating adiposity, regulating the levels of adipokines/pro-inflammatory cytokines and by inducing cholesterol homeostasis. Herein, we hypothesize that ARW might ameliorate the pathophysiological (hormonal, metabolic, and immunological) imbalances incurred by PCOS, thereby improving the infertility of PCOS patients.

Aim: To investigate the association of LEPR polymorphisms and plasma leptin and soluble leptin receptor (sOB-R) levels with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) in Chinese women. Patients & methods: LEPR Lys109Arg (rs1137100) and Gln223Arg (rs1137101) polymorphisms of PCOS patients and the controls were genotyped. Plasma leptin and sOB-R levels of two groups were measured. Results: The genotypic distributions of Lys109Arg (rs1137100) differed between the PCOS and control groups. Plasma sOB-R levels increased significantly in PCOS patients and were associated with PCOS independent of BMI. Furthermore, luteinizing hormone, triglyceride and fasting blood glucose correlated significantly to PCOS patients’ sOB-R levels. Conclusion: LEPR Lys109Arg (rs1137100) was associated with PCOS susceptibility and genotype AA was deduced to be a protective factor for PCOS; sOB-R levels might be recognized as a new indicator for the severity of PCOS.

Application of receiver operating characteristic curve in the assessment of the value of body mass index, waist circumference and percentage of body fat in the Diagnosis of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome in childbearing women. Abstract
BACKGROUND There are various parameters to analyze obesity, however, no standard reference to predict, screen or diagnose PCOS with various obesity parameters has been established, and the accuracy of these parameters still needs to be studied.This study was to use the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve to explore the different values of three obesity parameters, body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC) and percentage of body fat (PBF) in the diagnosis of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) in Chinese childbearing women. METHODS Three hundred patients who were diagnosed with PCOS at Center of Reproductive Medicine and Genetics of Peking University First Hospital were enrolled in this study, and 110 healthy age-matched women were enrolled as controls. The characteristics of BMI, WC and PBF in PCOS patients were analyzed. RESULTS Compared with the control group, all the three obesity parameters were significantly increased in PCOS group. In terms of ROC area under the curve, WC > PBF > BMI, and they were all significantly different from those of the control. At a cut-off point of 80.5 cm, WC has a sensitivity of 73.6 % and a specificity of 85 % in diagnosis of PCOS; At a cut-off point of 29 %, PBF has a sensitivity of 88.2 % and a specificity of 57.7 % in diagnosis of PCOS; and at a cut-off point of 26.6 kg/m(2), BMI has a sensitivity of 54.5 % and a specificity of 98 % in diagnosis of PCOS. CONCLUSION WC, BMI and PBF are valuable in screening and diagnosis of PCOS in Chinese childbearing women. PBF can be used to screen PCOS as it has a better sensitivity, while BMI can be used in the diagnosis of PCOS as it has a better specificity.
