Abstract
OBJECTIVE It still needs to be determined if platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has any added advantage over Minoxidil in treating androgenetic alopecia. We reviewed randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing scalp injections of PRP plus Minoxidil vs Minoxidil alone for managing androgenetic alopecia. METHODS All RCTs published on Embase, Cochrane Library, and PubMed comparing PRP plus Minoxidil vs. Minoxidil alone were eligible. The literature search was completed on 5 March 2024. The review was registered on PROSPERO (CRD42024509826). RESULTS Of five included RCTs, three had a high risk of bias, while one had some concerns. A systematic review of the studies showed that all trials reported better outcomes with PRP plus Minoxidil than with Minoxidil alone. Meta-analysis showed that hair density at one month (MD: 11.07 95% CI: 1.20, 20.94 I2 = 0%), three months (MD: 21.81 95% CI: 10.64, 33.00 I2 = 57%) and 5/6 months (MD: 17.80 95% CI: 7.91, 27.69 I2 = 80%) of follow-up was significantly better in the PRP plus Minoxidil vs the Minoxidil alone group. Meta-analysis of adverse events showed that the risk of adverse events was comparable in both groups (OR: 0.55 95% CI: 0.22, 1.36 I2 = 0%). The certainty of evidence on the GRADE assessment was "low to very low." CONCLUSION Very low-quality evidence shows that the addition of injectable PRP to topical Minoxidil may improve outcomes in patients with androgenetic alopecia. The addition of PRP was found to improve hair density and patient satisfaction significantly. However, the small number of studies with a high risk of bias and heterogeneity in PRP preparation methods are significant limitations of current evidence. Further studies with larger sample sizes and uniform PRP preparation protocols are needed.

Abstract
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has gained popularity as an experimental tool in regenerative medicine, with potential applications in reproductive medicine. This review will assess the existing literature on the role of PRP in female fertility enhancement, focusing on ovarian rejuvenation and increased endometrial thickness. PRP is being explored as a treatment for recurrent implantation failure, primary ovarian insufficiency and poor ovarian response. While the influence of PRP on endometrial thickness and implantation success is postulated, its effectiveness remains the subject of debate due to protocol variability and unclear patient selection criteria. This narrative review includes 36 articles published before December 2022, and highlights the lack of comprehensive molecular studies examining the impact of PRP on reproductive capacity. This review underscores the importance of standardizing PRP preparation protocols in reproductive medicine. However, challenges persist, and there is a need for well-planned randomized controlled trials and a deeper understanding of the patient population that would gain the greatest benefit from PRP treatment. Clarifying these aspects is crucial to improve outcomes for low-prognosis patients undergoing assisted reproductive technology.

Abstract
PURPOSE OF REVIEW This review aims to elucidate potential variations in clinical outcomes resulting from the use of different types of platelet-rich plasma (PRPs) in reproductive medicine. It seeks to explore the reasons behind the diverse results reported in various studies and assess the general features distinguishing different PRP formulations. RECENT FINDINGS PRPs have found applications across diverse medical fields, generating controversy due to the variability in outcomes. The field of reproductive medicine, despite its limited published studies, is encountering a similar challenge as it integrates these treatments. SUMMARY The multitude of PRP product brands in the market, coupled with 'home-made' PRPs, poses a significant barrier to establishing a common protocol for the preparation of standardized PRP products. This impediment hinders widespread adoption by clinicians, particularly in endometrial or ovarian treatments. Drawing from evidence in other medical disciplines, this review endeavors to compile essential characteristics that PRPs must possess, aiming to mitigate the impact of variables affecting results in forthcoming studies.

Abstract
Fracture healing is a dynamic process essential for the restoration of bone integrity and function. However, factors such as patient age, comorbidities, and the severity of the fracture can impede this process, leading to delayed healing or nonunion. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has emerged as a promising therapeutic option for enhancing fracture healing. PRP is an autologous blood product containing a concentrated mixture of platelets, growth factors, and cytokines known to promote tissue regeneration and repair. This comprehensive review provides an overview of the fracture healing process, emphasizing the importance of timely and efficient bone repair. We discuss the mechanisms underlying the purported efficacy of PRP in fracture healing, drawing upon both preclinical and clinical evidence. Preclinical studies in animal models have demonstrated the ability of PRP to accelerate fracture healing, stimulate osteogenesis, and enhance bone regeneration. Clinical studies have yielded mixed results, with some reporting positive outcomes in terms of accelerated healing and improved functional outcomes, while others have shown no significant benefits over standard treatments. Factors influencing the efficacy of PRP, such as timing of administration, PRP concentration, and patient-specific variables, are also examined. Furthermore, safety considerations and potential adverse effects associated with PRP therapy are discussed. Despite the promising preclinical findings, challenges remain in standardizing PRP formulations, optimizing administration protocols, and addressing unanswered questions regarding its long-term efficacy and safety. This review aims to provide insights into the therapeutic potential of PRP in fracture healing, informing future research directions and guiding clinical practice.

Abstract
Novel wound dressings with therapeutic effects are being continually designed to improve the wound healing process. In this study, the structural, chemical, physical, and biological properties of an electrospun poly glycerol sebacate/poly lactide acid/platelet-rich plasma (PGS/PLA-PRP) nanofibers were evaluated to determine its impacts on in vitro wound healing. Results revealed desirable cell viability in the Fibroblast (L929) and macrophage (RAW-264.7) cell lines as well as human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC). Cell migration was evident in the scratch assay (L929 cell line) so that it promoted scratch contraction to accelerate in vitro wound healing. Moreover, addition of PRP to the fiber structure led to enhanced collagen deposition (~ 2 times) in comparison with PGS/PLA scaffolds. While by addition PRP to PGS/PLA fibers not only decreased the expression levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-6 and TNF-α) in RAW-264.7 cells but also led to significantly increased levels of cytokine (IL-10) and the growth factor (TGF-β), which are related to the anti-inflammatory phase (M2 phenotype). Finally, PGS/PLA-PRP was found to induce a significant level of angiogenesis by forming branching points, loops, and tubes. Based on the results obtained, the PGS/PLA-PRP dressing developed might be a promising evolution in skin tissue engineering ensuring improved wound healing and tissue regeneration.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) causes significant cancer mortality worldwide. Cancer organoids can serve as useful disease models by high costs, complexity, and contamination risks from animal-derived products and extracellular matrix (ECM) that limit its applications. On the other hand, synthetic ECM alternatives also have limitations in mimicking native biocomplexity. This study explores the development of a physiologically relevant HCC organoid model using plasma-derived extracellular matrix as a scaffold and nutritive biomatrix with different cellularity components to better mimic the heterogenous HCC microenvironment. Plasma-rich platelet is recognized for its elevated levels of growth factors, which can promote cell proliferation. By employing it as a biomatrix for organoid culture there is a potential to enhance the quality and functionality of organoid models for diverse applications in biomedical research and regenerative medicine and to better replicate the heterogeneous microenvironment of HCC. METHOD To generate the liver cancer organoids, HUH-7 hepatoma cells were cultured alone (homogenous model) or with human bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stromal cells and human umbilical vein endothelial cells (heterogeneous model) in plasma-rich platelet extracellular matrix (ECM). The organoids were grown for 14 days and analyzed for cancer properties including cell viability, invasion, stemness, and drug resistance. RESULTS HCC organoids were developed comprising HUH-7 hepatoma cells with or without human mesenchymal stromal and endothelial cells in plasma ECM scaffolds. Both homogeneous (HUH-7 only) and heterogeneous (mixed cellularity) organoids displayed viability, cancer hallmarks, and chemoresistance. The heterogeneous organoids showed enhanced invasion potential, cancer stem cell populations, and late-stage HCC genetic signatures versus homogeneous counterparts. CONCLUSION The engineered HCC organoids system offers a clinically relevant and cost-effective model to study liver cancer pathogenesis, stromal interactions, and drug resistance. The plasma ECM-based culture technique could enable standardized and reproducible HCC modeling. It could also provide a promising option for organoid culture and scaling up.

Abstract
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is among the new ground-breaking methods called for endometrial disorders detected in assisted reproductive technology (ART). This research work takes account of both a systematic literature review and an exploration of the molecular connections. The report aims to present the capabilities and benefits of the PRP in ART and the nonconformance and dangers involved in its use in ART. However, all these stages of ART need conducive endometrium, live micro embryo, and coordinated interaction between the blastocyst and the uterus. Despite all ART has achieved, implantation failure still exists as a problem having one quarter being attributed to the absence of the endometrial receptivity level. The review points to a corresponding increase in the role of autologous PRP in promoting cell proliferation, neo-angiogenesis, and anti-inflammatory effects to facilitate effective endometrial receptivity. The outcome of prior trials with the PRP approach proved to be positive for women with adenomyosis, thin endometrial lining, recurring implantation failure, chronic endometritis, and Asherman's syndrome. Challenges still exist in the proper placement of PRP for all women with infertility problems as well as how it works for individuals with blood disorders and infections. This study will look into the safest number of doses, the time of acting, and the possible future health hazards that both mother and child may face.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and its combined therapeutic modalities have catalyzed new possibilities in dermatology; however, limitations in evidence and lack of consensus remain among clinicians regarding optimal composition, protocol, technique, and application. OBJECTIVE To provide an update and analysis of the evidence for PRP in hair restoration and skin rejuvenation through review of recent available data, highlighting controversies and expert insights to guide future studies, and stimulate discourse and innovations benefitting patients. METHODS A structured review and expert analysis of PubMed publications before October 2023, with a focus on recent literature from January 2020 through October 2023. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION Growing literature supports the utility and benefits of PRP and related autologous products for applications for skin and hair, with strongest evidence for androgenetic alopecia and skin rejuvenation. However, this is limited by lack of consensus regarding best practices and protocols. Randomized, controlled trials with uniform metrics comparing outcomes of various compositions of autologous blood products, preparation methods, dosimetry, and frequency of treatments are still required. This will allow the medical discourse to grow beyond the realm of expert opinion into consensus, standardization, and more wide spread adoption of best practices that will benefit patients.

Abstract
Wound healing will be enhanced using structures with therapeutic effects. This study fabricated a novel nanofibrous scaffold for skin tissue regeneration using a coaxial structure polyglycerol sebacate (PGS)/platelet-rich plasma (PRP) was embedded in the core and two different compositions were selected for the shell; in one group, polycaprolactone (PCL), and in the other group, PGS/PCL blend was used. The physical, mechanical behavior, drug delivery patterns, and cell response of scaffolds were evaluated. Results revealed that by adding PRP to the core and PGS to the shell, fiber diameters decreased to 260.8 ± 31.3 nm. It also decreased the water contact angle from 66° to 32°, that is ideal candidate for cell attachment. The drug release showed a burst release pattern in the first 30 min, followed by a continuous and slow release during the first day. Adding PGS to the shell decreased the elastic modulus, and its value reached about 500 kPa, which is near the skin elastic modulus and will lead to greater mechanical compatibility for cell proliferation. Particularly, the addition of PRP to the fiber structure enhanced the cell viability and cell adhesion with a suitable morphology. Based on the results, nanofibrous PGS-PRP/PGS-PCL dressing can enhance skin tissue regeneration.

Abstract
Introduction Knee osteoarthritis (KOA), the most common chronic degenerative condition in an older population, accounts for many disabilities around the world. One of the most popular treatments is intra-articular injection of hyaluronic acid (HA) and platelet-rich plasma (PRP). Objective Prior studies have found that both HA and PRP had a therapeutic effect on KOA. This study aims to perform a systematic review regarding whether PRP is superior to HA for KOA. Method We conducted a comprehensive literature search using Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analysis (PRISMA) guidelines for prospective randomized control trials (pRCTs) in three international databases PubMed, Google Scholar, and ScienceDirect from 2019-2022. Two researchers independently searched the reviews, extracted, and cross-checked the data. The disparity when choosing the literature was resolved by discussion. The modified Jadad was scale used to assess the quality of the included studies. Cochrane risk of bias 2 tool (RoB-2) was used for determininzg risk of bias. Results Twenty three studies were eligible for inclusion. Four pRCT with the highest Jadad score were selected as best evidence. Risk of bias assesment concluded two studies having a low risk of bias, one is high risk of bias, and the other possesses some concerns.. Three studies found no difference in patient-reported outcomes between PRP and HA group and one study concluded that PRP is more effective than HA in treating KOA. Conclusion Intra-articular injections of PRP and HA are effective interventions for KOA. However, there is not enough evidence of PRP superiority over HA.

Abstract
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy has gained attention in the scientific field due to its potential regenerative effects and great benefit-risk ratio. This review extensively explores the most studied mechanisms of this therapy according to the etiopathogenesis of skin diseases: cellular proliferation, matrix formation, regulation of inflammation, angiogenesis, collagen synthesis, and the remodeling of new tissue. Moreover, it draws on newly reported and lesser-known effects of PRP: its anti-apoptotic effects, immunological suppression, decrease in melanin synthesis, anti-microbial effects, overexpression of miR-155, antioxidant effects, and their involved pathways. This work aims to provide a complete update for understanding PRP's benefits and clinical relevance in wound healing, alopecia, pigmentary disorders, scars, rejuvenation, lichen sclerosus, and other inflammatory dermatoses, based on the current evidence. Furthermore, recent reports with novel indications for PRP therapy are highlighted, and new potential pathways correlated with the pathogenesis of skin diseases are explored.

Abstract
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is an autologous serum containing higher concentrations of platelets and growth factors above normal blood. The process of obtaining PRP involves the extraction of blood from the patient which is then centrifuged to obtain a concentrated suspension of platelets. PRP continues to evolve as a potential treatment modality with many applications in orthopaedic surgery. The therapeutic components of PRP possess numerous theoretical regenerative properties. The present manuscript outlines how PRP is prepared, noting the tremendous variability between preparation protocols. Given the growing body of evidence examining the use of PRP in pathologies of the foot and ankle, we assess its efficacy as it relates to our field. Specifically, we evaluate the literature in the past five years regarding the role of PRP in treating plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy, insertional Achilles tendinitis, Achilles tendon ruptures, osteochondral lesions of the talus, hallux rigidus, and ankle osteoarthritis.

Abstract
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has been widely used in clinical practice. The mechanism by which PRP promotes tissue repair lies in the release of multiple growth factors upon platelet activation, which accelerates the proliferation and differentiation of repair cells and the synthesis of extracellular matrix. In recent years, as extracellular vesicles (EVs) research has increased and intensified, it has been found that EVs also play an important role in tissue repair. This article provides a comprehensive review of the role of PRP and PRP-derived extracellular vesicles (PRP-EVs) in tissue repair. It discusses the biological characteristics, extraction, identification, activation, and preservation of PRP-EVs. It also reviews their applications in orthopedics and wound repair. The article highlights the importance of PRP-EVs in modern medicine and suggests that they could be a promising natural nanocarrier.

Abstract
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a promising non-invasive therapeutic intervention for knee osteoarthritis (KOA) that has generated significant interest due to anecdotal accounts of its efficacy, resulting in reduced recovery time in various orthopedic interventions. This systematic review examines the effectiveness of PRP in managing KOA. Specifically, it seeks to determine the extent to which PRP can treat KOA patients effectively, alleviate KOA symptoms, and improve patient outcomes. Additionally, the review aims to identify the optimal concentration and composition of PRP required to achieve therapeutic results in KOA. Furthermore, the review investigates whether PRP can modify the synovial environment structurally and immunologically to improve outcomes in KOA patients. We conducted a comprehensive literature search on PubMed, Orthogate, Clinicaltrials.gov, and Embase of clinical trials investigating PRP treatment in KOA patients in the last five years. The results indicated that PRP is effective in treating KOA patients. Evidence shows that PRP therapy can alleviate pain, enhance joint function, increase range of motion, and improve mobility in KOA patients. PRP was effective in treating KOA when the mean platelet concentration of PRP treatment was 4.83 to 5.91 times higher than the baseline whole blood platelet concentration. However, studies investigating PRP with a mean platelet concentration of 3.48 to 4.04 times higher than baseline failed to demonstrate statistically significant improvements. PRP therapy slowed down KOA progression, which validates its effectiveness in impeding further structural damage and arresting the degenerative impact of the disease. Nonetheless, further investigation is necessary to examine how PRP therapy can modify the progression of the disease. Furthermore, future research should identify the most effective platelet concentration levels that provide optimal symptom relief. There is a need for further research to identify the specific PRP configuration that is most pertinent in a clinical setting, as there is a lack of standardization in PRP manufacturing protocols, including the variety of experimental setups and dosing schedules utilized in different studies.

Abstract
Hair follicle (HF) homeostasis is regulated by various signaling pathways. Disruption of such homeostasis leads to HF disorders, such as alopecia, pigment loss, and hair aging, which is causing severe health problems and aesthetic concerns. Among these disorders, hair aging is characterized by hair graying, hair loss, hair follicle miniaturization (HFM), and structural changes to the hair shaft. Hair aging occurs under physiological conditions, while premature hair aging is often associated with certain pathological conditions. Numerous investigations have been made to determine the mechanisms and explore treatments to prevent hair aging. The most well-known hypotheses about hair aging include oxidative stress, hormonal disorders, inflammation, as well as DNA damage and repair defects. Ultimately, these factors pose threats to HF cells, especially stem cells such as hair follicle stem cells, melanocyte stem cells, and mesenchymal stem cells, which hamper hair regeneration and pigmentation. Here, we summarize previous studies investigating the above mechanisms and the existing therapeutic methods for hair aging. We also provide insights into hair aging research and discuss the limitations and outlook.

Abstract
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) activation is emerging as a promising and multifaceted tool for accelerating skin wound healing. This review extensively examines PRP's role in wound healing, focusing on its composition, mechanisms of action, activation methods, and clinical applications. PRP's potential to enhance both chronic and acute wound healing and its applications in cosmetic and aesthetic procedures are explored. Furthermore, this review investigates safety concerns, including adverse reactions, infection risks, and long-term safety implications. Looking to the future, emerging technologies, combination therapies, personalized medicine approaches, and regulatory developments are discussed, pointing towards an important and transformative era in wound healing and regenerative medicine. With its wide-ranging implications for healthcare, PRP activation has the potential to become a ubiquitous and essential therapeutic option, improving patient outcomes and reducing healthcare costs.

Abstract
Androgenetic alopecia (AGA) is the most common cause of alopecia in males and females. Minoxidil and finasteride are the only FDA-approved treatments for AGA. New treatments including Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) and microneedling have shown promising results. The purpose of this literature review was to highlight recent studies examining the effects of topical minoxidil combined with PRP to minoxidil or PRP monotherapy. The method used for this paper includes a systematic review of the literature from 2010 to 2022 using the PubMed, EMBASE, and MEDLINE databases examining studies evaluating combination therapies for AGA. Three randomized control trials compared combination PRP + topical 5% minoxidil to either no treatment, 5% minoxidil, or PRP only. Two studies found increased hair growth at five months and at six months following combined therapy. Another study found an increase in hair density and improved patient satisfaction with combination therapy compared to monotherapy. A prospective study revealed that patients treated with combined 5% minoxidil, PRP, and microneedling reported the highest patient and physician satisfaction compared to minoxidil monotherapy. An observational study evaluating topical 5% minoxidil with PRP reported an increase in hair diameter after one year of combination treatment compared to minoxidil monotherapy. PRP therapy combined with minoxidil and microneedling in a retrospective study was shown to increase hair growth compared to PRP with minoxidil as well as PRP or minoxidil monotherapy. In conclusion, a variety of studies demonstrated superior treatment response with a combination of PRP and minoxidil therapy in patients with AGA. Limitations to this study include different PRP preparation protocols, few randomized control studies, and small sample sizes.

Abstract
Androgenetic alopecia (AGA) is the most common cause of hair loss in men and women. Traditionally, topical minoxidil and oral finasteride have been the standard of care yielding mixed results. New treatments such as Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT), microneedling, platelet-rich plasma (PRP), and others have been extensively studied in the literature, and the purpose of this review is to provide a comprehensive discussion of the latest treatment methods and their efficacy in treating AGA. Novel therapies such as oral minoxidil, topical finasteride, topical spironolactone, botulinum toxin, and stem cell therapy offer interesting alternatives to standard of care therapies for patients. In this review, we present data from recent studies on the clinical efficacy of these treatments. Furthermore, as new treatments have emerged, clinicians have tested combination therapies to assess whether there may be a synergistic relationship between multiple modalities. While there has been a great increase in the treatments available for AGA, the quality of evidence varies greatly and there is still a great need for randomized double blinded clinical trials to adequately assess the clinical efficacy of some treatments. While PRP and LLLT have demonstrated encouraging results, standardized treatment protocols are needed to adequately inform clinicians on how to use such therapies. Given the abundance of new therapeutic options, clinicians and patients must weigh the benefits and risks of each treatment option for AGA.

Abstract
Management of androgenetic alopecia is a challenge because of its long course, need for continuous treatment, and potential adverse effects of the therapies. In order to enhance efficacy, minimize side effects, and ensure patient compliance, the authors propose a scheme for using combination treatments with a rotational scheme, based on current evidence for efficacy, pharmacokinetic properties, convenience of administration over long term, side effect profile, and patient acceptance.

Abstract
With the aging of the population and changes in lifestyle, the incidence of spine-related diseases is increasing, which has become a major global public health problem; this results in a huge economic burden on the family and society. Spinal diseases and complications can lead to loss of motor, sensory, and autonomic functions. Therefore, it is necessary to identify effective treatment strategies. Currently, the treatment of spine-related diseases includes conservative, surgical, and minimally invasive interventional therapies. However, these treatment methods have several drawbacks such as drug tolerance and dependence, adjacent spondylosis, secondary surgery, infection, nerve injury, dural rupture, nonunion, and pseudoarthrosis. Further, it is more challenging to promote the regeneration of the interstitial disc and restore its biomechanical properties. Therefore, clinicians urgently need to identify methods that can limit disease progression or cure diseases at the etiological level. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP), a platelet-rich form of plasma extracted from venous blood, is a blood-derived product. Alpha granules contain a large number of cytokines, such as platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), epidermal growth factor, platelet factor 4 (PF-4), insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1), and transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β). These growth factors allow stem cell proliferation and angiogenesis, promote bone regeneration, improve the local microenvironment, and enhance tissue regeneration capacity and functional recovery. This review describes the application of PRP in the treatment of spine-related diseases and discusses the clinical application of PRP in spinal surgery.

Abstract
Plasma cell vulvitis is a rare inflammatory disorder of the vulva with an unknown aetiology, characterised by mucosal inflammation. It commonly manifests as pain, itching, dyspareunia, and dysuria and clinically presents as erythematous plaque and macules on the vulva. This condition is refractory to available treatment modalities in the literature. We present a case of a 70-year-old female with histopathologically proven plasma cell vulvitis treated by platelet-rich plasma therapy after multiple failed treatment attempts with topical steroids and immunomodulators. The patient improved both symptomatically and clinically on follow-up with platelet-rich plasma therapy. Platelet-rich plasma which is a new novel treatment can be a therapeutic option for recalcitrant cases of plasma cell vulvitis.
