Abstract
Objective The aim of this study was to comprehensively investigate the potential relationship between blood volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and overactive bladder (OAB) risk. Methods A total of 11,183 participants from the 2007-2020 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) were included in this cross-sectional study. We used multivariate logistic regression models to investigate the relationship between nine blood VOCs and OAB risk. Restricted cubic spline (RCS) analysis was used to investigate the dose-response relationship between blood VOCs and OAB. In addition, the overall association of blood VOCs with OAB risk was assessed by weighted quantile sum (WQS) regression model. Finally, we conducted subgroup analyses to explore the findings in different high-risk populations. Results After adjusting for potential confounders, logistic regression analysis revealed that blood 2,5-dimethylfuran (aOR = 2.940, 95% CI: 1.096-7.890, P = 0.032), benzene (aOR = 1.460, 95% CI: 1.044-2.043, P = 0.027) and furan (aOR = 9.426, 95% CI: 1.421-62.500, P = 0.020) were positively independent associated with the risk of OAB. And dose-response risk curves indicated that 2,5-dimethylfuran, benzene and furan in the blood were linearly positive associated with OAB risk. WQS regression analysis showed that exposure to mixed blood VOCs increased the risk of OAB (OR = 1.29, 95% CI: 1.11-1.49), with furans having the greatest weight. In subgroup analyses, we found that OAB was more susceptible to blood VOCs in young and middle-aged, male, non-hypertensive, and alcohol-drinking populations. Conclusions The results of this study indicate that high exposure to VOCs is independently and positively associated with OAB risk in U.S. adults, particularly 2,5-dimethylfuran, benzene, and furan. In addition, age, gender, hypertension and alcohol consumption may influence the association. Our study provided novel epidemiologic evidence to explore the potential role of environmental pollutants in OAB.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Urinary incontinence (UI) affects over half of people with stroke. It is unclear which methods are accurate in assessing presence and type of UI to inform clinical management. Diagnosis of UI based on inaccurate methods may lead to unnecessary interventions. The aims of this systematic review were to identify, for adults with stroke, clinically accurate methods to determine the presence of UI and type of UI. METHOD We searched seven electronic databases and additional conference proceedings. To be included, studies had to be primary research comparing two or more methods, or use a reference test. RESULTS We identified 3846 studies with eight eligible for inclusion. We identified 11 assessment methods within the eight studies. Only five studies had sufficient comparator data for synthesis. Due to heterogeneity of data, results on the following methods were narratively synthesized: Core Lower Urinary Tract Symptom Score (CLSS), clinical history and physical examination, Barthel Activities of Daily Living Index, International Consultation Incontinence Questionnaire Short Form (ICiQ-SF) and urodynamic studies (UDS). Most studies were small and of low to medium quality. All reported differences in sensitivity, and none compared the same assessment methods. CONCLUSION Current evidence is insufficient to support recommendations on the most accurate UI assessment for adults with stroke. Further research is needed.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To identify psychometrically robust quality-of-life (QOL) outcome measures for evaluating QOL among people with neurogenic overactive bladder (OAB). STUDY DESIGN Electronic databases (CINAHL, EMBASE, MEDLINE, Scopus and Web of Science) were searched from inception to January 2023. Two independent reviewers participated in study screening, data extraction and quality appraisal. Studies were included if they validated at least one psychometric property of a QOL outcome measure among adults (age ≥ 18 years) with neurogenic OAB. The COnsensus-based Standards for selecting health status Measurement INstruments (COSMIN) checklist and Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE) tool were used to evaluate the methodological quality and quality of evidence, respectively, for each included study. RESULTS Database searches identified 47 studies that tested the psychometric properties of 15 QOL measures in a total of 19,994 participants with stroke, spinal cord injury, Parkinson's disease or multiple sclerosis. The Incontinence Quality of Life Questionnaire (I-QOL), King's Health Questionnaire, Overactive Bladder Questionnaire and Qualiveen were the best validated measures, with strong reliability, validity and responsiveness. I-QOL was the most robust, cross-culturally administered and psychometrically strong measure. The COSMIN checklist indicated sufficient methodological quality for 70% of measures, and the modified GRADE tool indicated quality of evidence ranging from moderate (67%) to high (33%). CONCLUSIONS This review identified the I-QOL as a culturally diverse measure with robust reliability, validity and responsiveness for assessing QOL among people with neurogenic OAB. These findings are supported by studies with good methodological quality (COSMIN) and high-quality evidence (GRADE).

Abstract
BACKGROUND Long-term complications of stroke, persisting for more than 6 months after the initial event, substantially reduce the quality of life (QoL) in a significant percentage of stroke survivors. In this paper, we studied the prevalence of long-term urinary incontinence (UI) in post-stroke patients. In addition, we attempted to identify patient characteristics which were associated with higher UI prevalence, higher UI severity, and less UI-associated QoL. METHODS Medical records in a tertiary referral hospital were used to contact patients who had experienced a stroke between 6 to 32 months before the study date. The patients were given the International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire Short Form (ICIQ-UI-SF) questionnaire for determining the presence of UI and its severity. UI-positive patients were then given the I-QOL questionnaire to determine their QoL. RESULTS The prevalence of UI in our study population (n=189) was 31%. Older age at the time of stroke was associated with higher UI severity (r=0.290) and lower QoL (r=-0.265). Furthermore, the presence of movement limitation was associated with higher UI prevalence (P<0.001, OR=3.89) and severity (P=0.002, d=1.05). Movement limitation also significantly impacted the psychological and social aspects of UI-associated QoL (P=0.035, d=-0.74). Conversely, higher body mass indices (BMIs) were associated with lower UI severity (r=-0.346) and higher QoL (r=0.281). CONCLUSION In conclusion, UI continues to be prevalent in stroke survivors long after the cerebrovascular accident (CVA). As a result, these patients require continuous monitoring and UI prevention.

Abstract
Botulinum toxin A (BoNT-A) paralyzes muscle by blocking acetylcholine release at the synaptic junction. BoNT-A has shown its therapeutic effects in neurological disorders such as Parkinson's disease (PD) and post-stroke spasticity. A high proportion of patients with PD and post-stroke develop neurogenic detrusor overactivity (nDO) and then develop urinary incontinence and overactive bladder (OAB) symptoms. This study aimed to disclose the safety and efficacy of BoNT-A injection in treating bladder and voiding dysfunction in PD and post-stroke patients by reviewing the current evidence. At present, intradetrusor injection of BoNT-A is a Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved third-line therapy for nDO and idiopathic OAB. Although intradetrusor injection of onaBoNT-A 200 U is already approved for nDO treatment, most researchers would like to manage PD and post-stroke patients by using onaBoNT-A 100 U intradetrusor injection to achieve long-term efficacy and reduce adverse effects. However, in contrast to its inclusion in the International Continence Society guidelines for PD treatment, the clinical use of BoNT-A for post-stroke patients is limited to experimental use due to the development of urinary retention in about one-fifth of patients. For treating urethral pseudodyssynergia, half of patients may respond to onaBoNT-A 100 U urethral injection. However, refinement is needed to reduce unwanted urinary incontinence.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Lower Urinary Tract Dysfunction (LUTD) is a condition that is common in stroke patients and affects their quality of life and psychological state. AIM To determine the factors affecting LUTD severity in stroke patients and to evaluate its relationship with functional status. METHOD 77 stroke patients were included in our study. Demographic and stroke characteristics of all patients were recorded. Functional Ambulation Scale (FAS), Functional Independence Measure (FIM), the Core Lower Urinary Tract Symptom Score (CLSS) Questionnaire, Beck Depression Scale were administered to the patient. 33 of 77 patients had urodynamic study and these patients constituted the subgroup of the study. Patients were grouped according to type of disorder, type of detrusor and detrusor sphincter dyssynergia (DSD) using urodynamic study findings. RESULT The mean CLSS of men was significantly higher than women (P = 0.017). A significant positive correlation was found between age and CLSS (P = 0.035 r = 0.24) and negative correlation was found between total FIM and all sub-parameter scores and mean of CLSS (P = 0.001 r = -0.467). CONCLUSION LUTD is common in stroke patients and the presence of urinary symptoms is associated with poor functional status. No significant relationship was observed between urodynamic data except maximum flow rate and CLSS.
