Abstract
PURPOSE Cancer-related fatigue (CRF) is the most common symptom experienced by cancer survivors. It is a multidimensional symptom affecting physical, emotional, and/or cognitive spheres, different from other types of fatigue. Characteristically is not alleviated by sleep or rest. CRF could have specific features in breast cancer survivors (BCS), because of sex, hormones, and distinct treatments. On the other hand, more than 25% of BCS report persistent CRF for 10 years or more after the diagnosis. The present study aims to recapitulate the knowledge about the biological mechanisms that potentially drive CRF in BCS after treatment. METHODS To answer a broad question, a scoping review methodology was used. Data were collated from three bibliographic databases: PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL). Studies were selected if they had included more than 20 BCS, after finishing their treatment, fatigue was measured with a quantitative scale and biomarkers were analyzed. RESULTS The final database was composed of 1896 records. Sixty-four studies finally met the eligibility criteria. Inflammation (61%), hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis dysregulation (14%), autonomic nervous system (ANS) dysfunction (11%), and diet (9%) were the biological pathways most frequently studied. Unfortunately, results from studies about inflammation and HPA axis show many inconsistencies. CONCLUSION More research about the role of ANS dysfunction and diet on the pathogenesis of CRF would be warranted according to the results of the review. There are some fields such as endocannabinoid systems, mitochondrial dysfunction, gut microbiota, and oxidative stress that have been insufficiently explored. IMPLICATIONS FOR CANCER SURVIVORS To widen the scope of future research in the physiopathology of CRF, it is necessary to identify mechanisms that would be potentially involved and have been insufficiently explored. Because of the high prevalence of CRF in BCS and the tremendous impact that fatigue has in their quality of life, it is essential to improve the efficacy of the treatments through a good knowledge of the biological basis of CRF.

Abstract
PURPOSE Overweight and obesity are common for breast cancer survivors and associated with high symptom burden (i.e., pain, fatigue, depressive symptoms). Physical activity may protect breast cancer survivors with higher body mass indexes (BMI) from increased symptoms. However, the role of physical activity in buffering the relationship between higher BMI and greater symptoms is unclear. METHODS Baseline data from a randomized trial investigating Pain Coping Skills Training among breast cancer survivors (N = 327) with pain were used to examine the relationship between self-reported BMI (kg/m2) and physical activity level (Rapid Assessment of Physical Activity; suboptimal vs. optimal) with pain (Brief Pain Inventory; severity and interference), fatigue (PROMIS-Fatigue short form), and depressive symptoms (Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale). Analyses were conducted in SPSS. Hayes PROCESS macro (Model 1) assessed whether physical activity moderated the relationship between BMI and symptoms. RESULTS Lower BMI (B = .06, p < .01) and optimal physical activity (B = - .69, p < .01) were independently associated with lower pain interference. Lower BMI was also associated with lower pain severity (B = .04, p < .001). Neither BMI nor physical activity was associated with fatigue or depressive symptoms. Physical activity did not moderate the relationship between BMI and symptoms. CONCLUSIONS Among breast cancer survivors experiencing pain, higher BMI and being less physically active were related to greater pain (i.e., severity and/or interference). Physical activity did not buffer the relationships between BMI and pain, fatigue, and depressive symptoms, suggesting that physical activity alone may not be sufficient to influence the strength of the relationships between BMI and symptoms.

Abstract
PURPOSE Investigate potential relationships between pre-treatment cancer-related fatigue (CRF) in women with early-stage breast cancer and variation in genes involved with oxidative stress and DNA repair. METHODS Investigated 39 functional and tagging single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in genes involved in oxidative stress (CAT, GPX1, SEPP1, SOD1, and SOD2) and DNA repair (ERCC2, ERCC3, ERCC5, and PARP1) in a sample (N = 219) that included n = 138 postmenopausal women diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer before initiation of therapy and n = 81 age- and education-matched healthy controls. Using the Profile of Mood States Fatigue/Inertia Subscale, fatigue occurrence and severity were evaluated in both groups. Regression analysis was used to independently identify significant SNPs for three outcomes: 1) any fatigue versus no fatigue, 2) clinically meaningful versus non-clinically meaningful fatigue, and 3) fatigue severity. Using a weighted multi-SNP method, genetic risk scores (GRS) were calculated for each participant, and GRS models were constructed for each outcome. Models were adjusted for age, pain, and symptoms of depression and anxiety. RESULTS SEPP1rs3877899, ERCC2rs238406, ERCC2rs238416, ERCC2rs3916874, and ERCC3rs2134794 were associated with fatigue occurrence and had a significant GRS model (OR = 1.317, 95%CI [1.067, 1.675], P ≤ 0.05). One SNP, SOD2rs5746136, was significant for clinically meaningful fatigue; therefore, a GRS model could not be constructed. ERCC3rs4150407, ERCC3rs4150477, and ERCC3rs2134794 were associated with fatigue severity with a significant GRS model (b = 1.010, 95%CI [1.647, 4.577], R2 = 6.9%, P ≤ 0.01). CONCLUSIONS These results may contribute to identifying patients who are at risk of developing CRF. Oxidative stress and DNA repair biological pathways may be involved with CRF.

Abstract
PROBLEM IDENTIFICATION Cancer-related fatigue (CRF) substantially affects daily living and quality of life, but objective CRF measures remain limited. This review aimed to identify the correlation between muscle strength and body composition measures and CRF, as well as potential objective indicators for assessing CRF. LITERATURE SEARCH PubMed®, MEDLINE®, CINAHL®/PsycINFO®, and Embase® were searched for studies published from January 2000 to January 2021. DATA EVALUATION Study selection and quality assessment were conducted using the Critical Appraisals Skills Programme checklist and the Strengthening the Reporting of Observational Studies in Epidemiology statement. Comprehensive Meta-Analysis software was used to perform meta-analysis. SYNTHESIS 25 studies were selected, and 19 measures were analyzed. CRF negatively correlated with hand grip strength, knee extensor strength, and the sit-to-stand test. No significant correlation was found between body composition measures and CRF. IMPLICATIONS FOR NURSING The evidence suggests that muscle strength measures may be potential indicators for CRF assessment. Combining objective and subjective CRF assessments could assist clinicians in evaluating the effectiveness of CRF interventions more accurately.

Abstract
Objectives Fatigue is the most frequently reported symptom experienced by cancer patients and has a profound effect on their quality of life (QOL). The study aimed to determine the impact of fatigue on QOL among breast cancer patients receiving chemotherapy and to identify the risk factors associated with severe fatigue incidence. Methods This was an observational prospective study carried out at multiple centers. In total, 172 breast cancer patients were included. The Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy-Fatigue Questionnaire was used to measure QOL, while the Brief Fatigue Inventory (BFI) was used to assess the severity of fatigue. Results The total average mean and standard deviation of QOL were 84.58±18.07 and 4.65±1.14 for BFI scores, respectively. A significant association between fatigue and QOL was found in linear and multiple regression analyses. The relationships between fatigue severity and cancer stage, chemotherapy dose delay, dose reduction, chemotherapy regimen, and ethnicity were determined using binary logistic regression analysis. Conclusion The findings of this study are believed to be useful for helping oncologists effectively evaluate, monitor, and treat fatigue related to QOL changes.

Abstract
Physical inactivity is a significant public health problem among black women. However, there is limited evidence regarding barriers to physical activity and the availability of opportunities to engage in physical activity, specifically for posttreatment black women with a history of cancer. PURPOSE The purpose of this paper was to systematically review, summarize, and synthesize findings on physical activity-related research including barriers, facilitators, and resources for physical activity among posttreatment black women with a history of breast and endometrial cancer. METHODS We developed a comprehensive search strategy and conducted searches in the following databases: PsycINFO, Web of Science, Cochrane, PubMed, and Sociological Abstracts. Summary measures were described qualitatively (e.g., themes) and quantitatively (e.g., frequencies). RESULTS This review identified 35 eligible articles describing 12 intervention and 23 observational studies. We described intervention preferences (e.g., resistance activities), beliefs about physical activity, and benefits of physical activity for quality of life (e.g., improvements in social wellbeing) in black cancer survivors. In addition, very few studies identified barriers to physical activity (n = 7) and focused on increasing physical activity (n = 12) among black women with a history of cancer. The most common reported barriers among the target population were fatigue, lack of social support, weather, illness/health issues, cost, time constraints, living too far away, and inability/unwillingness to obtain physician clearance, whereas the most common facilitators were faith, other health concerns, and social support. CONCLUSIONS/IMPLICATIONS Future studies should target barriers, facilitators, and culturally adapted strategies for physical activity at all levels of influence to develop multi-level interventions to engage and improve physical activity among black women with a history of breast and endometrial cancer. Abstract
Fatigue has been the most distressing and frequent symptom in breast cancer (BC) survivors after treatment. Although fatigue can occur in other cancer survivors, women with a history of BC might share some distinctive features. The present study aimed to recapitulate the knowledge about risk factors and correlates of cancer-related fatigue (CRF) in BC survivors after oncologic therapy. An electronic data search was conducted in PubMed using the terms "fatigue," "breast," "cancer," and "survivors." Records were included if they were original articles, available in English, had used a quantitative scale, had > 100 participants, and had excluded women with BC relapse. BC survivors were required to have finished their treatments ≥ 2 months before, except for hormonal therapy. The physiopathology and other interventions were considered beyond the scope of our review. The correlates were subsequently classified into 7 main categories: (1) sociodemographic data, (2) physical variables, (3) tumor- and treatment-related variables, (4) comorbidities, (5) other symptoms, (6) psychological issues, and (7) lifestyle factors. Fatigue was consistently greater in younger, obese, and diabetic women. Women reporting fatigue often communicated symptoms such as pain, depression, insomnia, and cognitive dysfunction. Coping strategies such as catastrophizing could play an important role in the persistence of fatigue. However, tumor characteristics, previous treatments received, and physical activity were not consistently reported. CRF was a strong predictor of the quality of life of BC survivors after treatment. In conclusion, we found CRF was a frequent and serious symptom that severely affects the quality of life of BC survivors after treatment. Health practitioners require more awareness and information about CRF.

Abstract
BACKGROUND As life expectancy of men with prostate cancer (CaP)improves, the risks of chronic diseases and comorbid conditions become more relevant. Improving modifiable health behaviors now serves as a focus of guidelines to reduce all-cause morbidity and mortality from chronic disease among CaP survivors. Few studies have reported on these health behaviors in low-income, uninsured men with CaP METHODS: In addition to baseline demographic data, we collected four health behaviors in low-income men with CaP via telephone survey: physical activity, dietary intake of fruits and vegetables, weight management, and alcohol consumption. These behaviors were assessed for adherence to the American Cancer Society Prostate Cancer Survivorship Care Guidelines for health promotion. RESULTS Of 236 participants, most self-identified as racial/ethnic minority (61% Hispanic, 16% Black). Most men demonstrated low (21%) or moderate (66%) adherence to guidelines, almost all of whom had poor adherence with recommendations for physical activity and fruit and vegetable intake. Multivariate analysis showed that non-white men were more likely to demonstrate low or moderate adherence. CONCLUSIONS Most men in this cohort of low-income, uninsured CaP survivors did not engage the healthy behaviors promulgated by the American Cancer Society. Future interventions in this population should focus on encouraging and facilitating healthier lifestyle choices in physical activity, diet, and weight management.

Abstract
Background: Breast cancer survivors make up a growing population facing treatment that poses long - standing adverse effects including chemotherapy- related sleep disorders and fatigue. There is limited knowledge of patients' lived experiences of chemotherapy- induced sleep disorders and fatigue. The aim of this study was to explore sleep quality and fatigue among breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. Materials and Methods: One hundred fifteen patients were included in this census-based cross-sectional study. Data were collected through the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index and Brief Fatigue Inventory four days after the chemotherapy session. Statistical analysis was carried out using SPSS software version 13 and P<0.05 was considered statistically significant in all tests. Results: The mean hours of sleep were 5.6±1.83 in the range of 2 to 10 hours. The mean score of fatigue of participants was 5.59±1.67. Based on the cutting point, 57.4%, 20.9%, and 21.7% of participants had a moderate (4-6.9), mild (0.1-3.9), and severe (7-9.9) level of fatigue, respectively. The mean score of sleep quality among the participants was equal to 14.06±3.06, with a maximum and minimum of 7 and 21. The results of Spearman correlation coefficient showed that there is a significant relationship between fatigue and quality of sleep )0.210). Conclusion: Although the study findings revealed that patients with breast cancer undergoing chemotherapy experience different degrees of sleep disorders and fatigue, there is a need for more detailed studies to improve the quality of sleep and reduce fatigue in these patients due to the little attention paid to this issue in the medical field.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Several studies have provided important information about health conditions and other challenges faced by women diagnosed with breast cancer and how they can improve their quality of life and reduce their risk of cancer recurrence. Although African American and Hispanic breast cancer patients have a poorer survival than their white counterparts, few studies have compared the experiences of African American, Hispanic, and non-Hispanic white breast cancer survivors. OBJECTIVES To facilitate collaborative studies on breast cancer survivorship in a multicultural population, including future intervention research on nutrition, and physical activity, and clinical substudies. METHODS This cohort study consists of a postal survey of up to 1,000 women with a history of a breast cancer diagnosis who reside in Augusta-Richmond County, Georgia, USA, and a repeat survey in 4 to 5 years to obtain longitudinal data. The follow-up survey in 4 to 5 years will allow for longitudinal changes in health to be assessed. CONCLUSION The survey will provide a comprehensive picture of the health of breast cancer survivors, across the lifespan, in a large Southern city. A broad range of health issues will be addressed including physical activity, diet, nutrition, personal and family history of cancer, quality-of-life, psychosocial concerns, and beliefs about cancer recurrence risk reduction through lifestyle changes. Through its longitudinal design, the study will also provide important information about changes in physical and mental health as breast cancer survivors advance in age.
