Abstract
Agricultural plantations in Indonesia and Malaysia yield substantial waste, necessitating proper disposal to address environmental concerns. Yet, these wastes, rich in starch and lignocellulosic content, offer an opportunity for value-added product development, particularly amino acid production. Traditional methods often rely on costly commercial enzymes to convert biomass into fermentable sugars for amino acid production. An alternative, consolidated bioprocessing, enables the direct conversion of agricultural biomass into amino acids using selected microorganisms. This review provides a comprehensive assessment of the potential of agricultural biomass in Indonesia and Malaysia for amino acid production through consolidated bioprocessing. It explores suitable microorganisms and presents a case study on using Bacillus subtilis ATCC 6051 to produce 9.56 mg/mL of amino acids directly from pineapple plant stems. These findings contribute to the advancement of sustainable amino acid production methods using agricultural biomass especially in Indonesia and Malaysia through consolidated bioprocessing, reducing waste and enhancing environmental sustainability.

Abstract
Brewer's spent grain (BSG) is a main byproduct of the beer industry. BSG is rich in a variety of nutrients, and the search for its effective, high-value utilization is ongoing. Environmental probiotic factor γ-PGA was produced by fermenting Bacillus subtilis with BSG substrate and the fermenting grain components were analyzed. The γ-PGA yield reached 31.58 ± 0.21 g/kg of BSG. Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and non-targeted metabolomics analyses revealed 73 new volatile substances in the fermenting grains. Furthermore, 2,376 metabolites were upregulated after fermentation and several components were beneficial for plant growth and development (such as ectoine, acetyl eugenol, L-phenylalanine, niacin, isoprene, pantothenic acid, dopamine, glycine, proline, jasmonic acid, etc). These results show that it is possible to synthesize adequate amounts of γ-PGA for use as a functional fertilizer.

Abstract
The digestibility of cadmium (Cd) in brown rice is directly related to amino acid metabolism in rice and human health. In our field study, three kinds of alkaline calcium-rich soil inorganic amendments (SIAs) at three dosages were applied to produce safe rice and improve the quality of rice in Cd-contaminated paddy. With the increased application of SIA, Cd content in iron plaque on rice root significantly increased, the transfer of Cd from rice root to grain significantly decreased, and then Cd content in brown rice decreased synchronously. The vitro digestibility of Cd in brown rice was estimated by a physiologically based extraction test. Results showed that more than 70% of Cd in brown rice could be digested by simulated gastrointestinal juice. Based on the total and digestible Cd contents in brown rice to evaluate the health risk, the application of 2.25 ton SIA/ha could produce safe rice in acidic slightly Cd-contaminated paddy soils. The amino acids (AAs) in brown rice were determined by high-performance liquid chromatography. The contents of 5 key AAs (KAAs) that actively respond to environmental changes increased significantly with the increased application of SIA. The structural equation model indicated that KAAs could be affected by the Cd translocation capacity from rice root to grain, and consequently altered the ratio of indigestible Cd in brown rice. The formation of indigestible KAAs-Cd complexes by combining KAAs (phenylalanine, leucine, histidine, glutamine, and asparagine) with Cd in brown rice could be considered a potential mechanism for reducing the digestibility of Cd.

Abstract
To investigate the conversion of carbon and nitrogen organic matter to humus mediated by mineral material additives through biotic and abiotic pathways, three chicken manure composting experiments were conducted using calcium superphosphate (CS) and fly ash (FA). Results showed that CS and FA promoted carbon and nitrogen organic degradation and improved compost maturity. The ratio of humic acid-like to fulvic acid-like substances for FA (30) was significantly higher than for control (18) and CS (13). Excitation-emission-matrix spectra and parallel factor analysis identified a higher transformation of protein-like components into humic-like components in FA. Network analysis showed that CS improved compost maturity by promoting the rapid conversion of humus precursors to humus, while FA increased the richness and diversity of the microbial community, such as Chloroflexi, the unique phylum in FA. Overall, CS and FA facilitated the humification process through abiotic and biotic pathways, and FA had better humification performance.

Abstract
Liquid fertilizers (LFs) produced by microwave-assisted acid hydrolysis of livestock and poultry wastes were applied to potted hot pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) to evaluate their potential to be used as amino acid LFs. A preliminary experiment was conducted to determine the optimum acid-hydrolysis conditions for producing LFs from a mixture of pig hair and faeces (P) and another mixture of chicken feathers and faeces (C). Two LFs were produced under the optimum acid-hydrolysis conditions (acidification by sulphuric acid (7.5 mol L-1) in a microwave (200 W) for 90 minutes), and a commercial amino acid LF (Guo Guang (GG)) was used for comparison. P, C and GG fertilizers were tested in potted hot pepper cultivation at two doses, whereas no fertilizer application served as the control (CK). P and C fertilizers significantly increased the fruit yield compared with GG fertilizer, particularly at the higher dose. Moreover, the treatments improved the fruit vitamin C and soluble sugar contents in the order of C > P > GG compared with CK. These results could be attributed to more types of amino acids in C fertilizer than in P and GG fertilizers. The results also indicated that the prepared fertilizers could significantly increase the shoot and root dry weight, soil available nitrogen and phosphorus contents and nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium (NPK) uptake by plants compared with CK. In conclusion, microwave-assisted acid hydrolysis could effectively convert unusable wastes into valuable fertilizers comparable or even superior to commercial fertilizers.

Abstract
The quality of the flavor of potatoes is a crucial determinant in the commercial success of a potato variety. Plant nutrition promotes the synthesis of amino acids, and the application of exogenous amino acids has the potential to enhance the flavor quality of potatoes. In this experiment, Dian Shu 1418 and Dian Shu 23 were used as the materials, and different amino acid foliar spray trials were designed. The free amino acid content in potato tubers is determined based on high-performance liquid chromatography, and volatile tuber flavor compounds are detected using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. The results showed that the amino acid foliar spray effectively increased the content of glycine, methionine, and phenylalanine in the tubers, subsequently increasing the levels of 2,3-dimethyl-pyrazine and 2-ethyl-3-methyl-pyrazine, enhancing the roasted fragrance characteristics of the potatoes. The experimental results provide a reference for cultivating flavor enhancement in potato tubers.

Abstract
Products produced from waste are a relatively recent innovation. Feather substrates are abundant in keratin content and improper disposal can cause ecosystem contamination. However, these pollutants can be transformed into value-added products for industrial application. Physical, chemical and cutting-edge microbiological methods were utilized for decomposing keratin and aid in the identification and estimation of amino acids from poultry feather wastes. These beneficial approaches are receiving more attention due to their retrieval of harmless and value added byproducts. These keratin-based compounds are used widely in pharmaceutical, livestock feed, fertilizer, and a variety of other industrial sectors. Since keratin is primarily consisting of amino acids, it can be utilized to affirm and estimate the amino acids in these feather substrates. This study primarily highlights the various methodologies employed for the qualitative estimation of amino acids in feather waste samples and the inhibitory activity of keratinase enzyme by EDTA and pepstatin in order to accumulate amino acids for drug delivery purpose and their importance in various pharmaceutical industries. In addition to that, molecular docking studies of cysteine with many standard pharmaceutical drugs like acetaminophen, pethidine, methylphenidate, carbamazepine, cillin and amlodipine were performed using autodock to demonstrate how cysteine greatly reduces conventional drug toxicity and its side effects.

Abstract
The vapor–liquid equilibrium (VLE) in aqueous amino acid solutions is essential in chemical production, such as purification, isolation, or crystallization of amino acid intermediates. In this work, VLE of DL-proline, L-glutamic acid, and L-serine aqueous solutions was measured at pressures ranging from 4.82 to 102.58 kPa. The developed model was successfully applied to correlate experimental data with temperatures in the range of 298.15–382.75 K. Model parameters (h, τw,i(0), τw,i(1), τi,w(0), and τi,w(1) ) were given. Moreover, the amino acid aqueous solution was investigated by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). By analyzing infrared spectra, the strength of intermolecular interactions was obtained, and the structure–activity relationship between the microscopic interactions and the VLE was established.
