Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to establish an easy-to-use questionnaire for subjective evaluations of visually induced motion sickness (VIMS) and visual fatigue caused by stereoscopic 3D (s3D) images. We reviewed previously used questionnaires and extracted 51 important subjective evaluation items from them. We then recruited 251 participants to observe 3D images designed to easily induce sickness or visual fatigue, and we asked them to respond to the 51 items. As a result of exploratory factor analysis, four factors were extracted according to their factor loadings, and the number of items was reduced to 21. Further processing by confirmatory factor analysis led to the selection of 15 items. Comparing mean ratings for each factor before and after item reduction indicated that item reduction did not significantly affect the participant responses. Therefore, the 15-item Visually Induced Symptoms Questionnaire (VISQ), can be used to evaluate VIMS and s3D visual fatigue.

Abstract
This study aimed to compare lower limb events associated with preplanned and finally selected treatment strategies-the validity and usefulness of the physician-chosen strategy were verified.We examined the data of 1003 patients in the registry of multicenter endovascular treatment for superficial femoral and popliteal artery disease study and prospectively enrolled patients who underwent endovascular treatment (EVT) of the femoropopliteal (FP) artery between February 2017 and June 2018 from 67 Japanese institutes. The outcome measures were major adverse limb events (MALE) and target vessel revascularization.The EVT strategies were classified into balloon angioplasty-alone (37.3%), primary stenting (26.7%), and provisional stenting (36.0%) groups. In the initial strategy analysis for the balloon angioplasty-alone, primary stenting, and provisional stenting groups, two-year rates of freedom from MALE (95% confidence interval) were 0.680 (0.620-0.732), 0.754 (0.688-0.808), and 0.798 (0.746-0.840), respectively. Additionally, the rate of MALE was significantly higher among patients in the balloon angioplasty-alone group than among those in the primary or provisional stenting groups in the initial strategy analysis (P = 0.007). Changes in treatment strategy were more frequent in the primary stenting group than in the other groups. Furthermore, the rate of MALE did not significantly differ among the three groups in the final strategy analysis (P = 0.56).Limb outcomes for the final applied strategy did not differ among the three strategies. Additionally, the physician's selection bias was mostly appropriate in the EVT of the FP artery.

Abstract
Background Chronic limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI) is a severe peripheral artery disease with rest pain and lower limb ulceration. After revascularization, limb ulceration treatment should be completed quickly before restenosis. We aimed to investigate the effect of negative pressure wound therapy with instillation and dwell (NPWTi-d) using an antiseptic solution (AS) versus a saline solution (SS) in CLTI. There is no research limited to CLTI on this topic. Methods All patients underwent revascularization and surgical debridement. NPWTi-d was applied after surgical debridement. We evaluated wound tissue cultivation from pre- and post-NPWTi-d, length of NPWTi-d, and laboratory data pre- and post-NPWTi-d. All data are presented as the median, interquartile range. For univariate analysis, nonnormally distributed data were examined using the Wilcoxon rank sum test between the two groups of NPWTi-d (AS and SS group). A P value of less than 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results Forty-eight CLTI patients participated. The SS group included 24 patients (19 men, five women, average age 68.8 years) and the AS group included 24 patients (16 men, eight women, average age 67.4 years). The comorbidities included 23 and 19 patients with diabetes mellitus and hemodialysis in the SS group, and 22 and 16 patients in the AS group, respectively. There were no adverse events in either group. Both groups reduced the number of bacteria. The AS group required shorter NPWTi-d time (P = 0.02). Conclusion The AS group was able to shorten the treatment duration in CLTI.

Abstract
The prognosis of patients with B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (B-NHL) has improved with the use of anti-CD20 based immunochemotherapy. However, management of relapsed or refractory disease remains a challenge, indicating a high unmet need for novel treatments. Epcoritamab (recombinant) is a humanized immunoglobulin G1 (IgG1) bispecific antibody that simultaneously binds to CD3 on T cells and CD20 on B cells or tumor cells inducing T-cell mediated cytotoxicity against CD20-positive B cells. It demonstrated consistent cytotoxic effects in B-cell lymphoma cell line-derived xenograft models, patient-derived xenograft models, and cynomolgus monkey studies. Pharmacological studies in cynomolgus monkeys showed peak plasma concentrations of cytokines were lower with subcutaneous versus intravenous administration. To reduce the risk of cytokine release syndrome (CRS) and improve convenience, Epcoritamab has been developed as a subcutaneous formulation.To further reduce the risk of CRS, clinical trials utilized a priming dose and incremental dose increases. In Phase I/II overseas trials with relapsed, progressive, or refractory B-NHL patients, the recommended Phase II trial dose was determined based on safety, efficacy, and pharmacokinetic model simulation results. The Phase II dose-expansion part demonstrated the efficacy and high tolerability of epcoritamab monotherapy at the recommended dose. Similar efficacy and tolerability were observed in Japanese Phase I/II trials in relapsed or refractory B-NHL patients. Based on these results, epcoritamab received the approval in September 2023 for the treatment of "relapsed or refractory large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL, HGBCL, PMBCL)" and "relapsed or refractory follicular lymphoma (Grade 3B)" in Japan.

Abstract
The swallowing reflex is an essential physiological reflex that allows food or liquid to pass into the esophagus from the oral cavity. Delayed triggering of this reflex is a significant health problem in patients with oropharyngeal dysphagia for which no pharmacological treatments exist. Transient receptor potential channels have recently been discovered as potential targets to facilitate triggering of the swallowing reflex. However, the ability of transient receptor potential vanilloid 4 (TRPV4) to trigger the swallowing reflex has not been studied. Here, we demonstrate the involvement of TRPV4 in triggering the swallowing reflex in rats. TRPV4 immunoreactive nerve fibers were observed in the superior laryngeal nerve (SLN)-innervated swallowing-related regions. Retrograde tracing with fluorogold revealed localization of TRPV4 on approximately 25% of SLN-afferent neurons in the nodose-petrosal-jugular ganglionic complex. Among them, approximately 49% were large, 35% medium, and 15% small-sized SLN-afferent neurons. Topical application of a TRPV4 agonist (GSK1016790A) to the SLN-innervated regions dose-dependently facilitated triggering of the swallowing reflex, with the highest number of reflexes triggered at a concentration of 250 μM. The number of agonist-induced swallowing reflexes was significantly reduced by prior topical application of a TRPV4 antagonist. These findings indicate that TRPV4 is expressed on sensory nerves innervating the swallowing-related regions, and that its activation by an agonist can facilitate swallowing. TRPV4 is a potential pharmacological target for the management of oropharyngeal dysphagia.

Abstract
Abstract
Background
Cardiopulmonary arrest (CPA) is the most serious presentation of acute myocardial infarction (AMI). However, the frequency and prognostic impact of CPA in young patients with AMI have been still unclear.
Objectives
This study aimed to characterize AMI in young patients who underwent primary percutaneous coronary intervention using large-scale nationwide all-comer registry data in Japan (J-PCI registry).
Methods
Data on risk factor profiles, clinical features, post-procedural complications, and in-hospital outcomes were reviewed within the J-PCI registry between 2014 and 2018.
Results
Among 213,297 patients with AMI, 23,985 (11.2%) were young (age, 20–49 years). Compared with the older group (age, 50–79 years; n=189,312), the young group included a higher number of men, smokers, patients with dyslipidemia, and patients with single-vessel disease, and a lower number of patients with hypertension and diabetes. Despite favorable clinical profiles, younger age was associated with a higher rate of presentation with CPA (Figure 1). Further, concomitant CPA was strongly associated with in-hospital mortality in the young group (Table 1).
Conclusions
Young patients with AMI presented a higher risk of CPA than older patients, which was strongly associated with in-hospital mortality.

Abstract
Visualizing objects as they are perceived in the real world is often critical in our daily experiences. We previously focused on objects' surface glossiness visualized with a 3D display and found that a multi-view 3D display reproduces perceived glossiness more accurately than a 2D display. This improvement of glossiness reproduction can be explained by the fact that a glossy surface visualized by a multi-view 3D display appropriately provides luminance differences between the two eyes and luminance changes accompanying the viewer's lateral head motion. In the present study, to determine the requirements of a multi-view 3D display for the accurate reproduction of perceived glossiness, we developed a simulator of a multi-view 3D display to independently and simultaneously manipulate the viewpoint interval and the magnitude of the optical inter-view crosstalk. Using the simulator, we conducted a psychophysical experiment and found that glossiness reproduction is most accurate when the viewpoint interval is small and there is just a small (but not too small) amount of crosstalk. We proposed a simple yet perceptually valid model that quantitatively predicts the reproduction accuracy of perceived glossiness.

Abstract
PURPOSE The aim of this preapproval trial was to evaluate the 12-month safety and effectiveness of the TCD-17187 drug-coated balloon (DCB) for the treatment of atherosclerotic lesions in the superficial femoral artery (SFA) and/or proximal popliteal artery (PA). METHODS This was a prospective, multicenter, core laboratory adjudicated, single-arm trial. From October 2019 to November 2020, a total of 121 symptomatic peripheral artery disease patients with SFA and/or proximal PA lesions were enrolled. The primary effectiveness endpoint was 12-month primary patency defined as freedom from restenosis as determined by duplex ultrasonography in the absence of clinically driven target lesion revascularization (CD-TLR). The safety endpoint was the major adverse event (MAE) rate defined as freedom from a composite of device- and procedure-related death within 30 days, and index limb major amputation and/or CD-TLR through follow-up. RESULTS Average age was 74.5 ± 7.3 years and the frequency of diabetes mellitus was 67.5%. Average lesion length and vessel diameter were 106.0 ± 52.6 and 5.2 ± 0.8 mm, respectively. The frequency of chronic total occlusion and bilateral calcification was 17.5% and 50.8% of patients, respectively. The 12-month primary patency rate calculated by Kaplan-Meier analysis was 81.1%, while 12-month freedom from CD-TLR was 95.8%. The MAE rate at 30 days was 1.7% and all events comprised CD-TLR. There were no instances of device- or procedure-related deaths, major amputations, or thrombosis throughout the 12-month evaluation period. CONCLUSION This preapproval trial confirmed the safety and effectiveness of TCD-17187 DCB in the treatment of atherosclerotic lesions in the SFA and/or proximal PA.

Abstract
Man in his 30s was diagnosed with type B acute aortic dissection with malperfusion syndrome. Emergent endovascular therapy assisted by intravascular ultrasound was performed due to the unavailability of the neighbourhood cardiovascular surgeons and stored stent grafts. Stenting at the dissected superior mesenteric artery resolved the malperfusion syndrome. Acute aortic dissection complicated by malperfusion syndrome warrants rapid diagnosis and appropriate treatment. Endovascular therapy could be the most promptly accessible and effective strategy in certain situations. Intravascular ultrasound is also crucial for proper wiring and stenting.

Abstract
A 96-year-old female with severe dementia complained of subacute onset of right arm swelling after sleep using her right arm as a pillow. Computed tomography and ultrasonography could not detect any significant findings. Nevertheless, her unilateral edema was similar to that of a venous disorder; therefore, we performed angiography of the brachial vein with the right arm in a normal position and in an abduction position; significant stenosis was seen in the latter position. We diagnosed her with venous thoracic outlet syndrome. This case was unique from the typical cases of venous thoracic outlet syndrome because of the subacute onset of symptoms, high age at onset, and discrepancies between ultrasonography and angiography findings. Dementia is the key factor explaining these features. The diagnosis of thoracic outlet syndrome is generally difficult. Although provocative physical examination maneuvers and ultrasonography are essential, dynamic testing with provocative maneuvers allows physicians to detect venous compression, even if it is difficult to capture with static imaging tests. Once the diagnosis and its etiology were confirmed, corresponding intervention, including physical therapy, is warranted.

Background
Fractional flow reserve (FFR) is a gold standard method to evaluate functional lesion severity in daily clinical practice. Recently, the resting full-cycle ratio (RFR) was Previous studies showed the better diagnostic performance of RFR comparing with FFR. It is well known that patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) have poor prognosis. Therefore, we should carefully assess the functional lesion severity in CKD patients. However, it is unclear whether the diagnostic performance of RFR for detecting functional ischemia is similar regardless of the degree of renal function. The aim of this study is to compare the diagnostic performance of RFR based on renal function.
Method
This study was a prospectively enrolled observational study. A total of 265 consecutive patients with 373 intermediate lesions were enrolled in this study. There were classified into three groups according to renal function (Group 1: eGFR ≥60 mL/min/1.73m2; Group 2: 30 mL/min/1.73m2 ≤eGFR <60 mL/min/1.73m2; Group 3: eGFR <30mL/min/1.73m2). The RFR was measured after adequately waiting for stable condition, while FFR was measured after intravenous administration of ATP (180mcg/kg/min). The discordance between FFR and RFR were assessed the data using known cutoffs for FFR (≤0.80) and RFR (≤0.89).
Results
Of 373 lesions, the median age was 70.1±11.0 years. Functional significance was observed in 153 lesions (41.0%) of all lesions. RFR showed a significant correlation with FFR in each group (Group 1; r2=0.63 [p<0.001], Group 2: r2=0.67 [p<0.001], Group 3: r2=0.51 [p<0.001], respectively). The ROC curve analysis of RFR showed differential results for predicting functional significance (Group 1: AUC 0.88, cut-off value 0.91; Group 2: AUC 0.88, cut-off value 0.89; Group 3: AUC 0.81, cut-off value 0.83; respectively) in each group. The prevalence of discordant between RFR and FFR was significantly different among 3 groups (Group 1: 16.5%, Group 2: 19.4%, Group 3: 25.0%, respectively, p<0.05 for among 3 groups).
Conclusion
The diagnostic performance of RFR was different based on renal function. During RFR acquisition, the degree of renal function could influence concordance with FFR, and should be taken into account when interpreting RFR.

Abstract
PURPOSE The purpose of the J-SUPREME (J-S) and J-SUPREME II (J-SII) trials was to evaluate the performance of the Jetstream Atherectomy System for the treatment of Japanese patients with symptomatic occlusive atherosclerotic lesions in the superficial femoral and popliteal arteries. MATERIALS AND METHODS The J-S and J-SII trials were both prospective, multicenter, single-arm clinical trials. Patients in J-S underwent Jetstream atherectomy followed by percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA), whereas those in J-SII had adjunctive drug-coated balloon (DCB) treatment following atherectomy. Patients were adults with Rutherford category 2, 3, or 4 and had stenotic, restenotic, or occlusive lesion(s) with a degree of stenosis ≥70 in the superficial femoral artery and/or proximal popliteal artery. In J-S, lesions were required to be calcified, and in J-SII lesions were required to be severely calcified. RESULTS A total of 50 patients were enrolled in J-S (mean age 72.3±8.7 years, lesion length 82.0±41.5 mm, 36% calcification PACSS Grade 3, 22% Grade 4) and 31 patients in J-SII (mean age 72.5±7.7 years, lesion length 122.6±55.6 mm, 19.4% calcification PACSS Grade 3, 77.4% Grade 4). No bailout stenting or bypass conversions were required. No major adverse events (MAEs) were reported for either trial through 1 month. The 6-month primary patency for J-S, with PTA alone following atherectomy, was 40.4% (19/47). The 6-month primary patency for J-SII, with DCB treatment following atherectomy, was 96.7% (29/30). At 6-month post-procedure, 79.2% (38/48) of patients in J-S, and 100% (30/30) of patients in J-SII had improved by at least 1 Rutherford category. CONCLUSION J-SUPREME trial results demonstrate procedural safety and efficacy of the Jetstream Atherectomy System and J-SII showed sustained patency through 6 months following combination treatment with Jetstream atherectomy and DCB.

Abstract
Considerable research shows that olfactory stimulations affect other modalities in high-level cognitive functions such as emotion. However, little known fact is that olfaction modulates low-level perception of other sensory modalities. Although some studies showed that olfaction had influenced on the other low-level perception, all of them required specific experiences like perceptual training. To test the possibility that olfaction modulates low-level perception without training, we conducted a series of psychophysical and neuroimaging experiments. From the results of a visual task in which participants reported the speed of moving dots, we found that participants perceived the slower motions with a lemon smell and the faster motions with a vanilla smell, without any specific training. In functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) studies, brain activities in the visual cortices [V1 and human middle temporal area (hMT)] changed based on the type of olfactory stimulation. Our findings provide us with the first direct evidence that olfaction modulates low-level visual perception without training, thereby indicating that olfactory-visual effect is not an acquired behavior but an innate behavior. The present results show us with a new crossmodal effect between olfaction and vision, and bring a unique opportunity to reconsider some fundamental roles of olfactory function.

Abstract
An 80-year-old man was transferred to our institution with lower limb edema and worsening dyspnea following the administration of diuretic medication. Transthoracic echocardiography and computed tomography revealed a giant hepatic cyst (176×190 mm) compressing his right atrium and inferior vena cava (IVC). Laparoscopic cyst deroofing combined with omental packing and subsequent tube drainage immediately alleviated all his symptoms. The procedure was uneventful, and he was discharged without any complications on postoperative day 9; he had no recurrent symptoms or hepatic cysts at the postoperative 2-month follow-up. Therefore, a giant hepatic cyst can cause IVC syndrome, and laparoscopic deroofing is a beneficial approach for the treatment of accessible cysts.

Abstract
Foot deformity is one of the causes of foot ulcers. Foot ulcers often recur due to foot deformity. Foot ulcer healing alone does not reduce the risk factor of foot ulcer recurrence. The majority of foot ulcer patients, most of whom are elderly, have foot deformities. This limits the chances of undergoing surgical off-loading following surgery. We present a case of diabetic foot ulcer (DFU) in which surgical off-loading was performed simultaneously with foot ulcer closure that did not recur for a period of 2 years following surgery. A 70-year-old diabetic male with a DFU presented to our hospital. He underwent surgical debridement followed by reconstruction surgery (stump plasty) simultaneous with surgical off-loading (metatarsal head resection). The immediate postoperative period during which he used the off-loading device was uneventful. Following this, he used orthosis. After 2 years, the foot ulcer had not recurred, and he was able to independently perform his daily activities. Simultaneous surgery (reconstructive surgery and surgical off-loading) is less likely to limit daily activities and can reduce the ulcer recurrence rate.

Abstract
Objective Facial attractiveness has been reported to be influenced by visual features such as facial shape and the colour and texture of the skin. However, no empirical studies have examined the effects of facial skin radiance on facial attractiveness. The present study investigated whether types of skin reflection (i.e. radiant, oily and shiny, and matte) and the position of the reflection on the face influence facial attractiveness and other affective impressions. Methods A total of 160 female participants (1) estimated the ages and (2) evaluated attractiveness and other impressions of unfamiliar female faces in a total of seven skin reflection conditions. These conditions incorporated three types of reflection (i.e. radiant, oily and shiny, and matte) and three positions of the reflection on the face (i.e. entire facial skin, only cheeks, and only T‐zone). Results The facial images of radiance on entire faces were rated as appearing younger than the facial images of oily shine on entire faces and the matte faces. Attractiveness ratings and other positive impressions increased in the order of the matte (ranked lowest), the oily shine on entire face, and the radiance on entire face (ranked highest) conditions. The reflection position also influenced facial attractiveness: attractiveness ratings and other positive impressions were higher in the radiance on entire face condition than in the radiant cheeks and the radiant T‐zone conditions. Interestingly, the radiant cheek faces were rated more radiant and healthier but less feminine and less bright than the radiant T‐zone faces. Conclusion These results suggest that facial radiance enhances facial attractiveness and conveys a wide variety of positive impressions on the observer. The magnitude of the effects of cheek radiance and T‐zone radiance differs across various affective impressions. Nevertheless, the results demonstrate that cheek and the T‐zone radiance both contribute to higher attractiveness and other positive impressions of the radiance on entire faces. We believe that our findings can contribute as a guide to the enhancement of positive facial impressions by means of skin radiance, thereby leading to a better understanding of the value of skincare and base makeup.

Background
Triglyceride deposit cardiomyovasculopathy (TGCV) is a novel cardiovascular disorder, encoded as orphan disease in Europe in 2019, characterized by excessive accumulation of triglyceride in vascular smooth muscle cells, leading to coronary artery disease (CAD). However, there is no data about impact of TGCV on vascular failure after coronary stent implantation.
Purpose
To assess impact of TGCV on the outcome following coronary stent implantation in CAD patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) as Study 1, and chronic hemodialysis as Study 2.
Methods
This is multicenter retrospective estimation consisting of two studies.
Study 1) Among 526 consecutive patients suspected of having CAD who underwent coronary angiography (CAG) and iodine-123-β-methyliodophenyl-pentadecanoic acid (BMIPP) scintigraphy, a tracer for the diagnosis of TGCV, data from 81 patients with DM were analyzed.
The patients were divided into two groups; TGCV (n=7) or non-TGCV (n=74). All patients were implanted with a second-generation DES and underwent follow-up CAG. Binary restenosis (ISR), defined as angiographic luminal diameter >50% by quantitative coronary angiography, in-stent late loss were assessed in 15 stents of TGCV patients and 111 stents of non-TGCV patients.
Study 2) Similarly, among 88 chronic hemodialysis patients, ISR and in-stent late loss were assessed in 12 stents of 9 TGCV patients and 21 stents of 17 non-TGCV patients.
Results
Study 1) There were no significant differences in baseline characteristics between the two groups. In-stent late loss was greater in TGCV group than in non-TGCV group (0.91mm [0.27, 2.39] vs. 0.15mm [0.03, 0.35]; p<0.001), resulting in greater incidence of ISR in TGCV group than in non-TGCV group (46.7% vs. 9.0%; p<0.001). Multivariable logistic analysis revealed TGCV to be an independent predictor for vascular failure after DES implantation in patients with DM.
Study 2) Similarly, in-stent late loss and incidence of ISR were greater in TGCV group than in non-TGCV group (1.20±0.99mm vs. 0.50±0.70, p=0.02; 58.3% vs. 9.5%, p=0.002, respectively). TGCV was an independent predictor for vascular failure after DES implantation in chronic hemodialysis patients.
Conclusion
Apart from existing risk factors such as DM and hemodialysis, TGCV could contribute to a novel risk factor for vascular failure, even in the second-generation DES era.

Recently, wire-based resting indices have been recognized as gold standard for evaluating physiological lesion assessment. The resting full-cycle ratio (RFR) is a unique resting index which is calculated as the point of absolutely lowest distal pressure to aortic pressure during entire cardiac cycle. It is unclear whether the diagnostic performance of RFR for detecting functional coronary artery stenosis is similar in each coronary artery. The aim of this study is to compare the diagnostic performance of RFR based on target coronary vessel.
Method
This study was a prospectively enrolled observational study. A total of 156 consecutive patients with 220 intermediate lesions were enrolled in this study. The RFR was measured after adequately waiting for stable condition, while FFR was measured after intravenous administration of ATP (180mcg/kg/min). Lesions with FFR ≤0.80 were considered functionally significant coronary artery stenosis.
Results
In all lesions, reference diameter, diameter stenosis, lesion length, RFR, and FFR were 3.0±0.7mm, 45±13%, 13.0±8.8mm, 0.90±0.09, and 0.82±0.10, respectively. Functional significance was observed in 88 lesions (40%) of all lesions. RFR showed a significant correlation with FFR in overall lesions (r=0.774, p<0.001). The ROC curve analysis of RFR showed good accuracy for predicting functional significance (AUC 0.87, diagnostic accuracy 81%) in all subjects. Regarding each target vessel, there were similar and significant positive correlation between RFR and FFR (LAD; r=0.733, p<0.001, LCX; r=0.771, p<0.001, RCA; r=0.769, p<0.001, respectively). The prevalence of discordant between RFR and FFR was significantly different among 3 vessels (LAD 26%, LCX 12%, RCA 13%, respectively, p<0.05 for among 3 groups). Regarding the comparison of ROC curves according to lesion location, AUC was significantly lower in LAD than in LCX and RCA (LAD 0.780, LCX 0.947, RCA 0.926, p<0.01 for LAD compared to LCX, p<0.01 for LAD compared to RCA, respectively). Furthermore, the diagnostic accuracy was significantly different according to target vessel (LAD 74%, LCX 88%, RCA 87%, respectively, p<0.05 for among 3 vessels).
Conclusion
RFR demonstrated better diagnostic accuracy for evaluating functional lesion severity. The diagnostic performance of RFR was different based on target vessel. RFR is a unique and useful resting index, and it may detect functionally significant coronary stenosis that cannot be detected with other resting indices in daily practice.

Introduction
Fractional flow reserve (FFR) is a gold standard method to evaluate functional lesion severity in daily clinical practice. Recently, the resting full-cycle ratio (RFR) which was newly developed resting indices was launched. Unlike other resting indices evaluated in diastolic phase, RFR is evaluated during entire cardiac phase. Previous studies showed discordance predictors between FFR and instantaneous wave-free ratio. However, it is previously unreported what predictor cause discordant outcome between FFR and RFR.
Purpose
The purpose of this study was to evaluate clinical predictors of discordance between FFR and RFR.
Methods
A total of 156 patients with 220 lesions were prospectively enrolled in this study. RFR was evaluated before inducing hyperemia. FFR was measured after intravenous adenosine triphosphate administration (180 mcg/kg/min). According to FFR and RFR values, the patients and lesions were classified into 4 groups: Concordant negative (Group-1 [n=114]: FFR >0.80, RFR >0.89); negative FFR and positive RFR (Group-2 [n=18]: FFR >0.80, RFR ≤0.89); positive FFR and negative RFR (Group-3 [n=25]: FFR ≤0.80, RFR >0.89); Concordant positive (Group-4 [n=63]: FFR ≤0.80, RFR ≤0.89). Among them, discordance predictors with clinical characteristics between RFR and FFR were compared using by two separate logistic regression analyses. (Group-1 vs. Group-2, Group-3 vs. Group-4, respectively). Age, sex and those predictors with a p value ≤0.10 were included in a multivariate regression analysis using by forward stepwise selection to identify independent predictors of discordance.
Results
On multiple regression analysis, hemodialysis (HD) (OR:6.072 [1.090–33.836]), peripheral artery disease (PAD) (OR:9.053 [1.776–46.162]) and left anterior descending artery (LAD) (OR:9.264 [2.092–41.031]) were significantly associated with positive RFR among negative FFR groups (Groupe 2 discordance). Conversely, diabetes mellitus (DM) (OR:0.212 [0.062–0.721]) and Hb (OR:1.480 [1.102–1.987]) were significantly associated with negative RFR among positive FFR groups (Groupe 3 discordance)
Conclusions
Since the clinical characteristics with HD, PAD, LAD, DM and Hb may influence concordant with FFR during RFR evaluation, it should be considered when interpreting RFR.

Background
Recently, non-hyperemic physiologic indices have become widespread for evaluating physiological lesion assessment. The resting full-cycle ratio (RFR) is a unique non-hyperemic index which is calculated as the point of absolutely lowest distal pressure to aortic pressure during entire cardiac cycle. It is unclear whether RFR may detect functionally significant coronary stenosis that cannot be detected with other resting indices due to differences in the cardiac cycle. The aim of this study is to compare the diagnostic performance of RFR based on cardiac cycle.
Method
This study was a prospectively enrolled observational study. A total of 156 consecutive patients with 220 intermediate lesions were enrolled in this study. The RFR was measured after adequately waiting for stable condition, while FFR was measured after intravenous administration of ATP (180mcg/kg/min). Lesions with FFR ≤0.80 were considered functionally significant coronary artery stenosis.
Results
In all lesions, reference diameter, diameter stenosis, lesion length, RFR, and FFR were 3.0±0.7mm, 45±13%, 13.0±8.8mm, 0.90±0.09, and 0.82±0.10, respectively. Functional significance was observed in 88 lesions (40%) of all lesions. RFR systole was observed in 24 lesions (10.9%). Regarding to the coronary lesions, RFR systole was more frequent in non-LAD (LAD; 4.2%, left circumflex artery (LCX); 9.8%, and right coronary artery (RCA); 30.4%, respectively, p<0.018). RFR showed a significant correlation with FFR in both systole and diastole (R = 0.918, p<0.001, R = 0.733, p<0.001, respectively). The ROC curve analysis showed similar agreement in both systole and diastole (AUC: 0.881, p<0.001, AUC: 0.864, p<0.001, respectively). RFR provided a good diagnostic accuracy and no difference in both systole and diastole (79.6% and 87.5%, respectively, p=0.58).
Conclusion
RFR is feasible and reliable non-hyperemic index regardless of the difference of cardiac cycle to evaluate physiological lesion severity in daily practice.

Abstract
Recently, the number of patients with peripheral artery disease (PAD), including those with chronic limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI), has increased because of the increasing number of diabetic or dialysis patients worldwide. Revascularization is an important therapy for patients with CLTI. However, we sometimes experience refractory cases with insufficient peripheral circulation or microcirculation after revascularization. In this situation, additional therapy can be administered, such as low-density lipoprotein apheresis, high-pressure oxygen therapy, and spinal cord stimulation. However, they are not effective in some cases. Some reports have also indicated that transdermal isosorbide dinitrate patch (ISDN-P) is a useful therapy for PAD. As the efficacy of ISDN-P for patients with CLTI is not well-known, we examined it in this study. We assessed the skin perfusion pressure (SPP) after affixing an ISDN-P on the foot, because SPP measurement has proved useful in the assessment of PAD and is a good indicator of wound healing potential. The SPP (dorsal and plantar aspects) after ISDN-P application on the foot of healthy volunteers increased (n = 8; mean ± SD, 12.6 ± 7.9 [P = .12], and 21.2 ± 7.7 mm Hg [P < .05], respectively), as did SPP of patients with CLTI (n = 10; mean ± SD, 19.8 ± 2.5 [P < .01], and 14.1 ± 5.9 mm Hg [P < .05], respectively). All the patients who received an ISDN-P on the foot had no major complication, and no significant change in blood pressure. In conclusion, the ISDN-P is one of the effective and safe therapies for patients with CLTI.

Abstract
Oropharyngeal dysphagia, or difficulty in swallowing, is a major health problem that can lead to serious complications, such as pulmonary aspiration, malnutrition, dehydration, and pneumonia. The current clinical management of oropharyngeal dysphagia mainly focuses on compensatory strategies and swallowing exercises/maneuvers; however, studies have suggested their limited effectiveness for recovering swallowing physiology and for promoting neuroplasticity in swallowing-related neuronal networks. Several new and innovative strategies based on neurostimulation in peripheral and cortical swallowing-related regions have been investigated, and appear promising for the management of oropharyngeal dysphagia. The peripheral chemical neurostimulation strategy is one of the innovative strategies, and targets chemosensory ion channels expressed in peripheral swallowing-related regions. A considerable number of animal and human studies, including randomized clinical trials in patients with oropharyngeal dysphagia, have reported improvements in the efficacy, safety, and physiology of swallowing using this strategy. There is also evidence that neuroplasticity is promoted in swallowing-related neuronal networks with this strategy. The targeting of chemosensory ion channels in peripheral swallowing-related regions may therefore be a promising pharmacological treatment strategy for the management of oropharyngeal dysphagia. In this review, we focus on this strategy, including its possible neurophysiological and molecular mechanisms.

Abstract
The widely known hue-heat effect, a multisensory phenomenon between vision and thermal sensing, is a hypothesis based on the idea that light and colors affect perceived temperature. However, the application of this effect has not been prevalent in our daily lives. To work towards developing more practical use of the hue-heat effect, we conducted a series of psychophysical experiments to investigate the relationship between perceived temperature and illumination in a well-controlled experimental environment. The results showed that illumination had three types of effects to change our sense of coolness/warmness: creating, eliminating, and exchanging effects. Furthermore, we confirmed the existence of two distinctive time courses for the three effects: creating effect started immediately, but the eliminating effect takes time. These findings provide us with a better understanding of the hue-heat effect and enable us to apply it in everyday life. Paired with the new technologies it can also help with energy conservation.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION We used dynamic causal modeling (DCM) to examine effective connectivity during cued autobiographical memory (AM) search in a left-hemispheric network consisting of six major regions within the large network of brain regions recruited during memory retrieval processes. METHODS Functional MRI data were acquired while participants were shown verbal cues describing common life events and requested to search for a personal memory associated with the cue. We examined directed couplings between the ventromedial (vmPFC), dorsomedial (dmPFC), and dorsolateral prefrontal cortices (dlPFC), hippocampus, angular gyrus, and the posterior midline cortex (RSC/PCC/Prec). RESULTS During AM search, the vmPFC, dlPFC, and RSC/PCC/Prec acted as primary drivers of activity in the rest of the network. Moreover, when AM search completed successfully (Hits), the effective connectivity of the hippocampus on the vmPFC and angular gyrus was up-modulated. Likewise, there was an increase in the influence of the RSC/PCC/Prec in the activity of the dlPFC and dmPFC. Further analysis indicated that the modulation observed during Hits is primarily a distributed phenomenon that relies on the interplay between different brain regions. CONCLUSION These results suggest that prefrontal and posterior midline cortical regions together with the dlPFC largely coordinate the processes underlying AM search, setting up the conditions on which the angular gyrus and the hippocampus may act upon when the outcome of the search is successful.

Abstract
Despite the reported favorable patency of stents in the treatment of femoropopliteal lesions, concern regarding stent fracture is increasing. Development of pseudo-aneurysm by stent fracture is rare and has been reported to occur in the chronic phase owing to mechanical fatigue. Here, we present the first report of a pseudo-aneurysm caused by stent fracture in the "sub-acute" phase after endovascular therapy for in-stent restenosis lesion. A 79-year-old man underwent endovascular therapy for an in-stent restenosis lesion of the right superficial femoral artery. Echography 48 days after the treatment showed a saccular pseudo-aneurysm at the proximal stent site, suggestive of stent fracture. Angiography confirmed the pseudo-aneurysm caused by stent fracture. A self-expandable endoluminal stent graft was deployed, which showed complete resolution of the pseudo-aneurysm. A pseudo-aneurysm caused by stent fracture can occur in the "sub-acute" phase after endovascular therapy for in-stent restenosis lesions. <Learning objective: Although rare, a pseudo-aneurysm owing to stent fracture can occur in the "sub-acute" phase after endovascular therapy for in-stent restenosis lesions.>.

Abstract
Recently, we developed a unique microbial screening method based on the Mizoroki–Heck reaction for itaconic acid (IA)-producing fungi. This method revealed that 37 out of 240 fungal strains isolated from soils produce vinyl compounds, including IA. In this study, we further characterized these compounds in order to verify that the screening method permits the isolation of fungi that produce other vinyl compounds, excluding IA. HPLC analysis showed that 11 out of 37 isolated strains produced IA, similar to Aspergillus terreus S12-1. Surprisingly, the other 8 isolated strains produced two vinyl compounds with HPLC retention times different from that of IA. From these strains, the vinyl compounds of Aspergillus niger S17-5 were characterized. Mass spectrometric and NMR analyses showed that they were identical to 8-hydroxyhexylitaconic acid (8-HHIA) and 9-HHIA. This finding showed that 8-HHIA- and 9-HHIA-producing fungi, as well as IA-producing fungi, are ubiquitously found in soils. Neither 8-HHIA nor 9-HHIA showed antibacterial or anti-inflammatory activities. Interestingly, 8-HHIA and 9-HHIA showed cytotoxicity against the human cervical cancer cell line (HeLa) and human diploid cell line (MRC-5), and MRC-5 only, respectively, compared to IA at the same concentration. This study indicates that the screening method could easily discover fungi producing 8-HHIA and 9-HHIA in soils.

Abstract
AIM An investigator-initiated clinical study was carried out to evaluate the therapeutic potency of SR-0379 for the treatment of leg ulcers in patients with Werner syndrome. METHODS A multicenter, open-label study was carried out from September 2017 to February 2018. The inclusion criteria for leg ulcers were: (i) leg ulcers in patients with Werner syndrome, diabetes or critical limb ischemia/venous stasis; and (ii) a wound size of >1 cm and <6 cm in diameter. Four individuals with Werner syndrome and diabetic ulcers, respectively, were enrolled. SR-0379 (0.1%) was sprayed on skin ulcers once per day for 4 weeks. Efficacy was evaluated by determining the rate of wound size reduction as a primary end-point at 4 weeks after the first treatment compared with the pretreatment wound size. As secondary end-points, the DESIGN-R score index, the 50% wound size reduction ratio, time to wound closure and quantification of wound bacteria were also evaluated. The safety of SR-0379 was evaluated during the study period. RESULTS The reduction rate of ulcer size treated with 0.1% SR-0379 was 22.90% (mean) in the Werner syndrome ulcers group (n = 4) and 35.70% (mean) in the diabetic ulcers group (n = 4), respectively. The DESIGN-R score decreased by 4.0 points in the Werner syndrome ulcers group and 4.3 points in the diabetic ulcers group. Two mild adverse events were reported in two patients, and causal relationships were denied in any events. CONCLUSION Treatment with SR-0379 was safe, well-tolerated, and effective for leg ulcers of both Werner syndrome and diabetes patients. Geriatr Gerontol Int 2019; 19: 1118-1123.

Abstract
Calcified lesions still remain a technical challenge even in the treatment of infrainguinal artery disease. The aim of this retrospective, multicenter observational study was to investigate interventional outcomes of a high-speed rotational atherectomy device (Rotablator™) and to compare clinical outcomes in patients who underwent Rotablator and those who did not even after failed balloon angioplasty because of underlying calcified lesions. This study enrolled patients who underwent Rotablator (Rota group) and those who did not (Non-rota group) between January 2010 and 2014 December at 12 hospitals. A total of 67 limbs and 68 lesions in 65 patients were included (Rota group; 54 limbs and 55 lesions in 52 patients, Non-rota group; 13 limbs and 13 lesions in 13 patients). In the Rota group, a technical success rate was 94.5% with a complication rate of 1.8%, and all lesions underwent subsequent postdilatation following the adjunctive use of Rotablator, and approximately half of above-the-knee lesions underwent stent implantation. The Rota group had a significantly lower clinically driven reintervention rate at 12 months than the Non-rota group (26.5% vs. 58.3%, respectively, p = 0.046). In addition, Rota group showed a trend toward a higher amputation-free survival compared to the Non-rota group at 1 month (Rota; 98.0% vs. Non-rota; 84.6%, respectively, p = 0.10). Rotablator was used as an adjunctive device with a high technical success and a low complication rates, and Patients who underwent Rotablator yielded a significantly lower clinically driven reintervention rate at 12 months compared to those who did not even after failed balloon angioplasty.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Difficulty swallowing represents a major health problem. Swallowing function is improved by incorporating weak acids in suspensions/food boluses, implicating acid-sensing ion channels (ASICs) in the swallowing reflex. However, the functional involvement of ASICs in the swallowing reflex has not been fully elucidated. METHODS We localized ASIC3s in swallowing-related regions innervated by the superior laryngeal nerves (SLNs) and those in the nodose-petrosal-jugular ganglionic complex (NPJc) and examined their functional involvement in evoking the swallowing reflex in rats. KEY RESULTS We localized ASIC3s on epithelial cells and nerve fibers in swallowing-related regions innervated by the SLNs. In the NPJc, around half of the SLN-afferent neurons expressed ASIC3. Two-thirds of ASIC3s were localized on unmyelinated neurons in the nodose and petrosal ganglia. In the jugular ganglia, they were equally distributed on unmyelinated and myelinated neurons. Topical application of a synthetic non-proton ASIC3 activator, 2-guanidine-4-methylquinazoline (GMQ), and its natural endogenous ligand agmatine (a metabolite of the amino acid arginine) in swallowing-related regions evoked a considerable number of swallowing reflexes. Increasing the concentration of GMQ and agmatine up to a certain concentration increased the number of evoked reflexes and shortened the interval between the evoked reflexes. Agmatine was less potent than GMQ in its ability to evoke swallowing reflexes. Prior topical application of an ASIC3 antagonist significantly attenuated the number of GMQ- and agmatine-evoked swallowing reflexes. CONCLUSIONS & INFERENCES Acid-sensing ion channel 3s localized on nerves and epithelial cells in swallowing-related regions are functional in evoking the swallowing reflex and activation of these channels via a pharmacological agonist appears to improve swallowing behavior.

Abstract
Histopathological information about spontaneous lesions in aged Hannover Wistar rats is limited. In this study, we describe spontaneous lesions found in 39 male RccHan:WIST rats used as a control in a carcinogenicity study. Neoplastic lesions were frequently seen in the endocrine system, such as pituitary adenomas in the pars distalis. This strain exhibited a high incidence of thymoma (10.3%), compared to other strains. We encountered an oligodendroglioma, a pituitary adenoma of the pars intermedia, and a prostate adenocarcinoma, which are comparatively rare in rats. While the variety and incidence of non-neoplastic lesions were similar to those in other strains, several interesting lesions occurred with relatively high incidence, including "harderianization" of the extraorbital lacrimal gland, common bile duct ectasia, and hyperplasia of pulmonary endocrine cells in the lung. Furthermore, comparative analyses demonstrated that the severity of chronic progressive nephropathy and murine progressive cardiomyopathy in RccHan:WIST rats was less than that in F344 rats.

Abstract
Abstract
Background
Triglyceride deposit cardiomyovasculopathy (TGCV) is a novel clinical concept found among Japanese cardiac transplant recipients in 2008 that the abnormal intracellular triglyceride (TG) metabolism results in the ectopic accumulation of TG in vascular smooth muscle cells and cardiomyocytes, leading to diffuse narrowing coronary artery disease (CAD) and heart failure. TGCV is estimated to affect almost forty to fifty-thousand people in Japan, but there is no real-world date about the prevalence or latency.
Purpose
To evaluate TGCV latency in population with CAD, especially requiring urgent coronary angiography as Study 1, and chronic hemodialysis as Study 2.
Methods
This is multicenter retrospective estimation consisting of two studies.
Study 1) From 2012 to 2017, consecutive 400 patients of unstable angina or acute myocardial infarction who underwent urgent coronary angiography (CAG) and following iodine-123-β-methyliodophenyl-pentadecanoic acid (BMIPP) scintigraphy, a tracer for the diagnosis of TGCV, were enrolled.
Study 2) From 2011 to 2017, 88 chronic hemodialysis patients who underwent planed CAG and BMIPP scintigraphy for detection of ischemic heart disease were enrolled.
TGCV was diagnosed based on the latest diagnostic criteria for TGCV. The criteria include two major items (2 points each: BMIPP scintigraphy Wash-Out Rare <10%, Diffuse narrowing coronary arteries) and two minor items (1 point each: Jordans' anomaly in peripheral blood smear, Diabetes). Four points or more and three points indicated definite and probable TGCV, respectively. Only Items other than Jordans' anomaly were available for the diagnosis of TGCV because of retrospective nature. We evaluated the latent rate of definite and probable TGCV.
Results
Study 1) Figure (left) demonstrates the result of Study 1. Definitive TGCV patients were 14 patients, accounting for 3.5% of total 400 patients, and probable TGCV patients were 39 patients, accounting for 9.8% of all. Total 53 definitive and probable TGCV patients accounted for 13.3% of all. Annual average latency were 3.6±1.7% as definitive, 10.0±5.5% as probable and 13.6±6.6% as definitive and probable TGCV, respectively.
Study 2) Figure (right) demonstrates the result of Study 2. Definitive TGCV patients were 17 patients, accounting for 19.3% of total 88 hemodialysis patients, and probable TGCV patients were 22 patients, accounting for 25.0% of all. Total 39 definitive and probable TGCV patients accounted for 44.3% of all. Annual average latency of definitive TGCV was 19.3±13.4%. Of the 17 definitive TGCV patients, 9 patients were hemodialysis patients with diabetes.

Conclusions
TGCV might be latent with a probability of 3.6±1.7% per year in patients with unstable angina or acute myocardial infarction, and with a probability of 19.3±13.4% per year in chronic hemodialysis patients suspected of ischemic heart disease.

Background
Triglyceride deposit cardiomyovasculopathy (TGCV) is a novel disease concept characterized by the excessive accumulation of triglyceride in cardiomyocytes and vascular smooth muscle cells, leading to coronary artery disease (CAD), heart failure, and arrhythmia. However, it is rarely known whether TGCV contributes to the increased risk of vascular failure after drug eluting stent (DES) implantation.
Purpose
The aim of this study was to evaluate vascular failure after 2nd generation DES implantation in patients with TGCV.
Methods
Among 637 consecutive patients suspected of having CAD who underwent both coronary angiography and iodine-123-β-methyliodophenyl-pentadecanoic acid (BMIPP) scintigraphy between 2010 and 2018, we analyzed the data from 92 patients who met the inclusion criteria (shown in Table and Figure). Ninety-two patients were allocated to the presence (TGCV group, 11 patients) or absence (control group, 81 patients) of TGCV. All of 92 patients were implanted 2nd generation DES and underwent planned follow up coronary angiography. Control patients were diagnosed of diabetes mellitus. Binary restenosis (ISR), defined as angiographic luminal diameter ≥50% by quantitative coronary angiography, target lesion revascularization (TLR), In-stent late loss and restenosis morphology were assessed in 23 stents of TGCV group and 120 stents of control group.
Results
There were no significant differences in baseline characteristics between the two groups except for the prevalence of hypertension. In-stent late loss was greater in TGCV than in control (0.45 (−0.04 to 3.33) vs. 0.15 (−0.18 to 2.75), p=0.ehz748.10067), resulting in greater incidence of ISR and TLR in TGCV than in control (34.8% vs. 10.0%, p=0.0017; 21.7% vs. 6.7%, p=0.021, respectively). On multivariable logistic regression analysis, TGCV was found to be a significant and independent predictor for ISR after 2nd generation DES implantation. Regarding restenosis morphology, diffuse and occlusive pattern of ISR, were more frequently observed in TGCV than control (87.5% and 33.3%, Fisher's exact test p=0.028).

Patients with TGCV showed the greater incidence of vascular failure even after 2nd generation DES implantation, contributing to the novel risk factor for coronary intervention even in the 2nd DES era.

Background
Previous optical coherence tomography (OCT) study demonstrated that the incomplete stent apposition (ISA) distance <355 μm immediately after an index procedure was the corresponding cut-off point for predicting the resolution of ISA at 8–12 months follow-up in the second-generation DES. However, the natural course of acute ISA in the earlier phase remains unknown. The aim of the present study is to evaluate the natural course of acute ISA in the early phase after second-generation everolimus-eluting stent (EES) using serial OCT analyses at 2-week and 4-month.
Methods
From the population of the ACS-OCT trial, we identified a total of 45 patients who successfully underwent serial OCT examinations at post-stenting, 2-week follow-up, and 4-month follow-up. The presence of ISA was assessed in the OCT images, and ISA distance was measured within the stented segment. The target site for OCT analysis was the cross-section at the proximal edge of implanted stent. Serial OCT images at post-stenting, 2-week follow-up and 4-month follow-up were reviewed side by side on the screen, and maximum ISA distance and cross-sectional ISA area were measured.
Results
Incomplete stent apposition was observed in all EES at post-stenting, and it was persistent in 37.8% at 2-week follow-up and 11.1% at 4-month follow-up. Maximum ISA distance was significantly decreased over time (post-stenting, 144±150mm; 2-week follow-up, 88±146mm; 4-month follow-up, 34±111mm). Receiver-operating curve analysis identified that the best cut-off value of OCT-estimated ISA distance at post-stenting for predicting persistent ISA at 2-week follow-up and 4-month follow-up was >140μm and >215μm, respectively.

Conclusion
ISA distance at post-stenting is an useful predictor for the resolution of ISA in the early phase after EES implantation.

Background
Although fractional flow reserve (FFR) is a gold standard method to evaluate functional lesion severity in the catheterization laboratory, the need of hyperemic condition limits the widespread adoption of FFR. Recently, the resting full-cycle ratio (RFR) which was newly developed resting indices was launched. It is unclear whether RFR as resting condition could assess physiological lesion severity of coronary artery stenosis. The aim of this study was to evaluate the diagnostic impact of RFR compared to FFR in entire range of coronary artery stenosis.
Method
A total of 53 patients with 70 lesions were enrolled in this study. The RFR was measured after adequately waiting for stable condition, while FFR was measured after intravenous administration of ATP (180mcg/kg/min). Lesions with FFR ≤0.80 were considered functionally significant coronary artery stenosis.
Results
In all lesions, reference diameter, diameter stenosis, lesion length, RFR, and FFR were 3.3±0.8mm, 44±12%, 14.6±7.2mm, 0.90±0.11, and 0.83±0.11, respectively. Functional significance was observed in 24 lesions (34%) of all lesions. The RFR showed a significant correlation with FFR (y = 0.800x + 0.239, R = 0.817, p<0.001). The Bland-Altman plot demonstrated a good agreement with a mean difference of 0.07 and a standard deviation of 0.06 between RFR and FFR across entire range of coronary artery stenosis. ROC curve analysis showed an excellent accuracy of RFR cut-off of ≤0.90 in predicting FFR ≤0.80 which had 78% sensitivity and 87% specificity (AUC 0.87, diagnostic accuracy 84%).
Conclusion
The RFR as newly resting indices is reliable to the assessment of functional lesion severity. This physiology-based approach may be a possible alternative method for FFR measurements in daily practice.

Abstract
We study how mixed reality (MR) telepresence can enhance long-distance human interaction and how altering 3D representations of a remote person can be used to modulate stress and anxiety during social interactions. To do so, we developed an MR telepresence system employing commodity depth sensors and Microsoft’s Hololens. A textured, polygonal 3D model of a person was reconstructed in real time and transmitted over network for rendering in remote location using HoloLens. In this study, we used mock job interview paradigm to induce stress in human–subjects interacting with an interviewer presented as an MR hologram. Participants were exposed to three different types of real-time reconstructed virtual holograms of the interviewer, a natural-sized 3D reconstruction (NR), a miniature 3D reconstruction (SR) and a 2D-display representation (LCD). Participants reported their subjective experience through questionnaires, while their biophysical responses were recorded. We found that the size of 3D representation of a remote interviewer had a significant effect on participants’ stress levels and their sense of presence. The questionnaire data showed that NR condition induced more stress and presence than SR condition and was significantly different from LCD condition. We also found consistent patterns in the biophysical data.

Abstract
In this study, we report a novel method based on the Mizoroki-Heck reaction followed by an iodine test for the screening of itaconic acid-producing fungi from soils. This method is simple, rapid, and requires 10 μL of culture; results are obtained within 1.5 h. The detection limit of itaconic acid in the cultures was 0.13 mM. This is the first report on the direct screening of itaconic acid-producing fungi using a coupling reaction.

Abstract
Dental pain is a common health problem that negatively impacts the activities of daily living. Dentine hypersensitivity and pulpitis-associated pain are among the most common types of dental pain. Patients with these conditions feel pain upon exposure of the affected tooth to various external stimuli. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying dental pain, especially the transduction of external stimuli to electrical signals in the nerve, remain unclear. Numerous ion channels and receptors localized in the dental primary afferent neurons (DPAs) and odontoblasts have been implicated in the transduction of dental pain, and functional expression of various polymodal transient receptor potential (TRP) channels has been detected in DPAs and odontoblasts. External stimuli-induced dentinal tubular fluid movement can activate TRP channels on DPAs and odontoblasts. The odontoblasts can in turn activate the DPAs by paracrine signaling through ATP and glutamate release. In pulpitis, inflammatory mediators may sensitize the DPAs. They could also induce post-translational modifications of TRP channels, increase trafficking of these channels to nerve terminals, and increase the sensitivity of these channels to stimuli. Additionally, in caries-induced pulpitis, bacterial products can directly activate TRP channels on DPAs. In this review, we provide an overview of the TRP channels expressed in the various tooth structures, and we discuss their involvement in the development of dental pain.

Abstract
Autobiographical memories (AMs) are often colored by emotions experienced during an event or those arising following further appraisals. However, how affective components of memories affect the brain-wide network recruited during the recollection of AMs remains largely unknown. Here, we examined effective connectivity during the elaboration of AMs - when retrieved episodic details are integrated to form a vivid construct - in the network composed by ventromedial prefrontal cortex (vmPFC), hippocampus and amygdala, three key regions associated with memory and affective processes. Functional MRI data was collected while volunteers recollected personal events of different types of valence and emotional intensity. Using dynamic causal modeling, we characterized the connections within the triadic network, and examined how they were modulated by the emotional intensity experienced during an event, and the valence of the affect evoked when recollecting the associated memory. Results primarily indicated the existence of a vmPFC to hippocampus effective connectivity during memory elaboration. Furthermore, the strength of the connectivity increased when participants relived memories of highly emotionally arousing events or that elicited stronger positive affect. These results indicate that the vmPFC drives hippocampal activity during memory elaboration, and plays a critical role in shaping affective responses that emanate from AMs.

Abstract
Aims Consensus‐derived guidelines recommend renal stenting for patients with atherosclerotic renal artery disease (ARAD) and heart failure (HF). The aim of this prospective multi‐centre observational study was to verify our hypothesis that changes in E/e′, an echocardiographic correlate of left ventricular (LV) filling pressure, following renal stenting may differ between ARAD patients with and without HF. Methods and results This study enrolled de novo ARAD patients undergoing renal stenting at 14 institutions. The primary endpoint was the difference in E/e′ change between ARAD patients with and without HF. Clinical and echocardiographic data were prospectively collected at baseline, the day following renal stenting, and 1 month and 6 months afterwards. ARAD patients with HF were defined as patients with New York Heart Association (NYHA) Class 2 and more, or a history of HF hospitalization. A total of 76 patients were included, and 39% were ARAD patients with HF. ARAD patients with HF had significantly lower estimated glomerular filtration rate (P = 0.028) and higher NYHA functional class (P < 0.001) and Minnesota Living with Heart Failure Questionnaire (MLHFQ) score (P = 0.001) than ARAD patients without HF. Also, ARAD patients with HF had significantly lower LV ejection fraction (P = 0.003) and e′‐velocity (P = 0.003) and higher E/e′ ratio (P = 0.001), left atrial volume index (LAVI) (P = 0.046), LV end‐diastolic volume (LVEDV) (P = 0.001), LV end‐systolic volume (LVESV) (P = 0.001), and LV mass index (P = 0.009) than ARAD patients without HF. All procedures were successful. In contrast to blood pressure and renal function, there was a significant interaction in E/e′ (Pinteraction < 0.001) between time and HF, and ARAD patients with HF showed a significant (P < 0.001) decrease in E/e′ albeit those without HF. By the same token, there was a significant interaction in NYHA class (Pinteraction < 0.001), MLHFQ score (Pinteraction = 0.018), E‐velocity (Pinteraction = 0.002), LAVI (Pinteraction = 0.001), LVEDV (Pinteraction = 0.003), and LVESV (Pinteraction = 0.001) between time and HF with a significant improvement in all these variables in ARAD patients with HF (NYHA class, P = 0.001; MLHFQ score, P = 0.002; E‐velocity, P = 0.005; LAVI, P = 0.001; LVEDV, P = 0.017; and LVESV, P = 0.011). Conclusions Change in LV filling pressure after renal stenting differed between ARAD patients with and without HF, with a significant improvement in LV filling pressure in patients with HF‐ARAD. These unique findings might support clinical cardiac benefits of renal stenting in ARAD patients with HF.
