Abstract
BACKGROUND In the United States (US), half of new human papillomavirus (HPV) infections occur among young people aged 15-24 years. Despite the effectiveness of HPV vaccination in protecting against HPV-associated cancers, its coverage among adolescents remains suboptimal. This study examined the association of sociodemographic characteristics and HPV vaccination hesitancy with HPV vaccination coverage in five US states with disproportionately low adolescent coverage rates compared to the national average. METHODS Responses to an online Qualtrics survey from 926 parents of children aged 9-17 years in Arkansas, Mississippi, Missouri, Tennessee, and Southern Illinois in July 2021 were analyzed using multivariate logistic regression to estimate the association of sociodemographic characteristics and HPV vaccination hesitancy with HPV vaccination coverage. RESULTS Of the parents, 78 % were female, 76 % were non-Hispanic White, 61.9 % lived in rural areas, 22 % were classified as HPV vaccine hesitant, and 42 % had vaccinated their oldest child between the ages of 9-17 years against HPV. Children of vaccine hesitant parents were less likely to have received any doses of the HPV vaccine than children of non-vaccine hesitant parents (AOR: 0.17, 95 % CI:0.11-0.27). Male children were less likely to have initiated the HPV vaccine series than female children (AOR: 0.70, 95 % CI:0.50-0.97). Older children (13-17 vs 9-12 years), receiving the meningococcal conjugate or most recent seasonal influenza vaccine were all associated with higher likelihoods of receiving any doses of the HPV vaccine (AOR: 6.01, 95 % CI:3.98-9.08; AOR: 2.24, 95 % CI:1.27-3.95; AOR: 2.41, 95 % CI:1.73-3.36, respectively). CONCLUSIONS Adolescent HPV vaccination coverage remains low in our targeted states. Children's age, sex, and parental vaccine hesitancy were significantly associated with likelihood of HPV vaccination. These findings offer the opportunity for targeted interventions among parents in regions with low vaccine uptake and underscore the importance of developing and implementing strategies to address parental HPV vaccination hesitancy to improve uptake in the US.

Abstract
The Ontario HIV Seroprevalence Study of Childbearing Women is an unliked anonymous seroprevalence study designed according to the well-established ethical and legal guidelines for such studies. Commencing in November, 1989, randomly selected neonatal heelprick specimens were tested for the presence of HIV antibodies after all identifying information had been permanently and irrevocably unlinked from the specimens. During the first year of the study 94,119 (approximately 60% of all submitted specimens) were tested. Twenty-six specimens which were repeatedly reactive by EIA were confirmed as positive for an overall crude seroprevalence rate of 2.8 per 10,000 women having live births (95% CI: 1.8-4.1). Twenty-five of the 26 confirmed seropositive results came from babies born in hospitals in the Metropolitan Toronto, Ottawa-Carlton, or Hamilton-Peel-Halton regions.

Abstract
Previous reports of the CT findings of pseudomembranous colitis (PMC) have demonstrated the diffuse form of the disease. Although the focal nature of PMC is well recognized in the gastrointestinal literature, this manifestation has not been stressed in CT reports. We present three cases of focal colonic thickening detected on CT that proved to be PMC.

Abstract
Malignant melanoma is the most common malignancy to metastasize to the gastrointestinal tract. In a retrospective computer-assisted data search of over 2500 patients with melanoma registered over the past 10 years, 110 patients have been identified to have premortem gastrointestinal metastatic disease (metastatic disease identified at least 6 months before death). The small intestine (35%), colon (14.5%), and stomach (7%) are the most common sites for metastases. Polypoid or ulcerating masses and intramucosal nodules are typical radiologic presentations for gastric and colonic lesions, while over 50% of the small bowel metastases are polypoid masses that many times act as leading points for intussusception. Endoscopic studies are helpful in the preoperative diagnosis of these lesions. In a subset of 38 patients with symptomatic small bowel metastatic disease, complete resections were performed in 26% of patients, with palliative bypasses being performed in 40%, despite the fact that over 50% of the patients had documented visceral metastasis in other body sites. The operative morbidity rate was 15% with no operative deaths. Ninety percent of patients gained relief of symptoms, and overall survival from the time of confirmed small bowel disease averaged 17.3 months, with a range of 6 months to 9 years. It would seem that patients with melanoma with gastrointestinal metastatic disease can benefit from aggressive radiologic and endoscopic procedures for diagnosis and staging. Only through surgical interventions for symptomatic gastrointestinal disease can the quality of life be improved and life expectancy be extended.
