Abstract
Introduction Twin gestation is related to a higher risk of hypertensive disorders in pregnancy with possible risk stratification depending on chorionicity. It may be related to differences in plasma renin-angiotensin-aldosterone components between monochorionic and dichorionic twin pregnancies. The study aimed to analyze the plasma ANG II and ANG 1-7 concentrations in women with monochorionic and dichorionic twin gestation. Methods A prospective observational study included 79 women between 32 and 34 weeks of gestation with twin pregnancy (31 with monochorionic gestation and 48 with dichorionic gestation). Angiotensin II and angiotensin 1-7 concentrations were measured in the collected blood samples. Results No significant differences were observed in angiotensin II concentrations between the dichorionic and monochorionic group with significantly higher levels of angiotensin 1-7 being observed in the dichorionic group. Angiotensin 1-7 level was higher than angiotensin II in 20 women (64.5%) in the monochorionic group and in 42 women (87.5%, p=0.01) in the dichorionic group. Higher plasma concentrations of angiotensin II and lower concentrations of angiotensin 1-7 were found in 5 women with gestational hypertension and in 3 with preeclampsia compared to normotensive women. Discussion It is the first study investigating angiotensin II and angiotensin 1-7 in twin pregnancies regarding chorionicity. Our results showed that plasma angiotensin 1-7 concentration was related to chorionicity, while plasma angiotensin II level was not. In most women with twin gestation angiotensin 1-7 concentration exceeded the concentration of angiotensin II. A switch in the relation between angiotensin II and angiotensin 1-7 was observed in hypertensive pregnant women.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Fetal weight is currently estimated from fetal biometry parameters using heuristic mathematical formulas. Fetal biometry requires measurements of the fetal head, abdomen, and femur. However, this examination is prone to inter- and intraobserver variability because of factors, such as the experience of the operator, image quality, maternal characteristics, or fetal movements. Our study tested the hypothesis that a deep learning method can estimate fetal weight based on a video scan of the fetal abdomen and gestational age with similar performance to the full biometry-based estimations provided by clinical experts. OBJECTIVE This study aimed to develop and test a deep learning method to automatically estimate fetal weight from fetal abdominal ultrasound video scans. STUDY DESIGN A dataset of 900 routine fetal ultrasound examinations was used. Among those examinations, 800 retrospective ultrasound video scans of the fetal abdomen from 700 pregnant women between 15 6/7 and 41 0/7 weeks of gestation were used to train the deep learning model. After the training phase, the model was evaluated on an external prospectively acquired test set of 100 scans from 100 pregnant women between 16 2/7 and 38 0/7 weeks of gestation. The deep learning model was trained to directly estimate fetal weight from ultrasound video scans of the fetal abdomen. The deep learning estimations were compared with manual measurements on the test set made by 6 human readers with varying levels of expertise. Human readers used standard 3 measurements made on the standard planes of the head, abdomen, and femur and heuristic formula to estimate fetal weight. The Bland-Altman analysis, mean absolute percentage error, and intraclass correlation coefficient were used to evaluate the performance and robustness of the deep learning method and were compared with human readers. RESULTS Bland-Altman analysis did not show systematic deviations between readers and deep learning. The mean and standard deviation of the mean absolute percentage error between 6 human readers and the deep learning approach was 3.75%±2.00%. Excluding junior readers (residents), the mean absolute percentage error between 4 experts and the deep learning approach was 2.59%±1.11%. The intraclass correlation coefficients reflected excellent reliability and varied between 0.9761 and 0.9865. CONCLUSION This study reports the use of deep learning to estimate fetal weight using only ultrasound video of the fetal abdomen from fetal biometry scans. Our experiments demonstrated similar performance of human measurements and deep learning on prospectively acquired test data. Deep learning is a promising approach to directly estimate fetal weight using ultrasound video scans of the fetal abdomen.

Abstract
Objective Vitamin D plays an important role during pregnancy. The aim was to compare vitamin D status in a group of singleton (SP) and twin pregnancies (TP) using two diagnostic methods: chemiluminescence immunoassay (CLIA) and liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). Design This is a cross-sectional study. Methods The study was conducted in the population of SP and TP at the gestational age above 20 + 0 at the Bielanski Hospital in Warsaw, Poland, between October 2020 and January 2023. All patients had their venous blood samples collected and were given an original survey containing questions on demography and vitamin D supplementation. Results The study group included 53 Caucasian women with SP and 78 with TP aged from 21 to 47. Considering LC-MS/MS, patients with TP had lower concentrations of 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D) than patients with SP. However, no significant difference was observed in the frequency of the occurrence of vitamin D deficiency (25(OH)D < 30 ng/mL). In both groups, the levels obtained with CLIA were significantly lower than in case of LC-MS/MS, however, strongly correlated. The intermethod agreement accounted for 52.4% and the Cohen's kappa coefficient was 0.142. Conclusions The concentration of 25(OH)D in pregnant women depends on the type of gestation (SP/TP) and on the diagnostic methods used (CLIA/LC-MS/MS). Based on LC-MS/MS, the incidence of vitamin D deficiency was low in our group and no differences occurred in its frequency between SP and TP. The intermethod agreement between CLIA and LC-MS/MS on the detection of vitamin D deficiency was low. Significance statement This is the first study to compare the concentration of 25(OH)D levels between SP and TP using two methods: CLIA and the gold standard - LC-MS/MS. Based on LC-MS/MS, a low incidence of vitamin D deficiency was observed in our group, in which the vast majority of patients took cholecalciferol supplements. Moreover, there were no differences in its frequency between SP and TP. However, the 25(OH)D level was significantly lower in TP. The intermethod agreement between CLIA and LC-MS/MS on the detection of vitamin D deficiency was low, which is associated with substantial clinical implications.

Abstract
Abstract
Introduction: This study sought to assess the influence of proper foot arch on electromyographic activity of selected lower limb muscles. The aim of this work was to evaluate the effects of foot arch on the activity of selected muscles and to determine whether electromyography might help to identify types of flat feet resulting from muscle- or ligament-related causes.
Material and methods: The experiment involved 24 students of the Faculty of Rehabilitation, University of Physical Education in Warsaw. To determine Clarke’s angle, all study participants were examined with a podoscope. Based on the obtained results, the subjects were divided into two groups. The experimental group consisted of 12 individuals with low foot arches, while the control group included students with proper foot arches. The surface EMG (sEMG) signal was recorded from the following muscles: peroneus longus, tibialis anterior, gastrocnemius and soleus. First, the sEMG signal was recorded while measuring MVC for ankle extensors and flexors. Then, it was recorded in the following positions: free standing, two-leg standing on tiptoe, one-leg standing on tiptoe, pressing the first metatarsal head to the ground standing on heels.
Results: No significant differences in muscle activity between the groups with low and proper foot arches were noted (p>0.05). Muscle activity did not prove to be a differentiating factor. Moreover, no differences were found in torques of ankle extensors and flexors between both groups.
Conclusions: The findings of the study confirmed the hypothesis that the size of the foot arch had no effect on electromyographic activity of lower limb muscles. It was also revealed that flat feet did not lead to the weakening of muscle strength of ankle flexors and extensors.
