Faktor determinan riwayat kehamilan dan kelahiran sebagai penyebab stunting

Stunting is a condition of failure or a child's growth process that is not following their age. Many factors can cause children to experience stunting both in terms of health and outside health, such as economic conditions, nutritional status experienced by mothers during pregnancy, malnutrition, and improper feeding and care early in life. The study aimed to determine pregnancy and birth history as risk factors for stunting in children aged 24-59 months. The study used a case-control design, with the number of subjects being 176 children, calculating subjects using total sampling techniques on case subjects and matching on control subjects. The research was conducted at the Pangkalan Balai Health Center, Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra, in 2022. Data was collected for one month and then analyzed using the chi-square test and Logistic Regression. The results showed that parental income (p= 0,034; OR= 2,571), early marriage (p= 0,001; OR= 2,760), maternal age at pregnancy (p= 0,003; OR= 2,692), nutritional status at pregnancy (p=0,020; OR=2,080), birth length (p= 0,001; OR= 6,633) and birth weight (p= 0,044; OR= 3,632) are risk factors for stunting. The most influential determinant factor was the birth length. Conclusion, parental income, early marriage, age at risk of pregnancy, nutritional status of pregnant women, birth length, and birth weight are risk factors for stunting in children aged 24-59 months at Pangkalan Balai Health Center.

Efek tepung ulat sagu (Rhynchophorus ferrugineus) terhadap penurunan kadar malondialdehyde (MDA) pada tikus Wistar dengan diet rendah protein

Kwashiorkor is protein-energy malnutrition (PEM) caused by protein deficiency. Sago worm flour (Rhynchophorus ferrugineus) can reduce malondialdehyde (MDA) caused by the high content of the amino acids glycine, lysine, and phenylalanine. The study aimed to prove the effect of sago worm flour on MDA levels in Wistar rats with a low protein diet. A true experimental-pre-post control group. The intervention was given for 28 days to 28 Wistar rats, divided into four groups with each group of seven rats. The dose of sago starch was 0,36 g/100 g rat body weight/day (P1), and a dose of 1,36 g/100 g rat body weight/day (P2) for rats fed a low diet protein. The treatment group was compared with a group of mice given a low diet protein (K +) and a group of healthy mice (K-). Serum MDA levels were measured by the TBARs method. Statistical analysis used paired t-test or Wilcoxon test and one-way ANOVA/Kruskal Wallis test. The results of decreasing MDA levels were in the P1 and P2 groups (p= 0,000). There was a difference in MDA levels in the P1 and P2 groups compared to the K + group (P= 0,000). There was a difference that decreased MDA levels between P1 and P2 (p= 0,000). In conclusion, sago worm flour at a dose of 0,36 g/100 g of rats/day and a dose of 1,36 g/100 g of body weight of rats/day can reduce MDA levels

Manfaat pemberian tepung daun kelor (Moringa oleifera) terhadap kadar IL-6 dan kolesterol LDL tikus Sprague Dawley dislipidemia

Dyslipidemia condition causes oxidative stress that triggers inflammation. Moringa leaves are rich in fiber and antioxidants that can prevent oxidative stress and reduce inflammation. This study aimed to see, measure, and analyze the effect of Moringa flour supplementation on IL-6 and LDL levels of dyslipidemic Sprague Dawley (SD) rats. The type of study was true-experiment with randomized pre-post. Test with control. Group design. Intervention for 28 days in 4 groups of SD rats (n= 24); a consisting group of healthy rats (K-), dyslipidemic rats (K+), dyslipidemic rats respectively given 0.1g/100g BW moringa flour (P1), and 0.2 g/100g BW moringa flour (P2). ELISA and CHOD-PAP methods measured IL-6 and LDL levels. Statistical analysis used Paired t-test, One-way Anova, and Post Hoc Bonferroni. The results showed a significant decrease in IL-6 and LDL levels in the intervention group compared to the non-intervention group (p= 0,000). The reduction of IL-6 levels in the P2 group was greater than that in the P1 group but not significant. The decrease. in LDL levels in the P2 group was significantly higher than in the P1 group. It is attributed to the fiber and antioxidant content in Moringa. Fiber that can bind cholesterol and bile acids, antioxidants can regulate fat metabolism, capture free radicals and prevent oxidative stress. In conclusion, Moringa flour supplementation improved lipid profiles and inflammation compared to rats with only standard and high-fat diets

The Impact of Weight Loss Program in Metabolic Profile and Body Fat Improvement among Indonesian Young Obese: A Randomized Clinical Trial

Abdominal obesity is defined as an accumulation visceral fat in abdomen region. It is linked to metabolic disorders that contribute to chronic diseases. Triglyceride (TG) to high-density lipoprotein (TG/HDL) ratio is considered as an insulin resistance (IR) marker. The waist to height ratio (WHtR) has been advocated as an effective and convenient measurement of central adiposity that could potentially be superior instead of BMI in determining cardiometabolic risk. The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of 8-wk-high protein diet and exercise on TG/HDL ratio, waist to height ratio (WHtR), body fat (BF) and body weight (BW). This study was a randomized clinical trial in 43 subjects with BMI >25 kg/m². Subjects were randomized into 3 groups: High Protein Diet and Exercise (HPDE; n=15) High Protein Diet (HPD; n=15) and Control Group (CG; n=13). The prescribed diet consisted of 1,200 calories; while the exercise was conducted for 5 times/wk for 8 wk. The hypocaloric diet comprised of 55% carbohydrate, 25% protein, and 20% fat. In the end of the study, HPDE group had greater weight loss (-2.3±1.9 kg) than HPD (-1.8±2.2 kg); while CG increased in weight (1.8±1.3 kg). HPDE group had significantly improved TG, HDL, TG/HDL ratio and WHtR by -26.6 mg/dL, 12.7 mg/dL, -1.02, -0.02 respectively (p<0.05). There were significant differences between 3 groups, with ΔTG (p=0.008), ΔHDL (p=0.001), and ΔTG/HDL ratio (p=0.004) and WHtR (p=0.001). In conclusion, t hypocaloric diet combined with exercise has a beneficial effect in weight loss among young obese.
