Abstract
Abstract
Brazil is one of the few countries in the world with more than 200 million inhabitants that has a universal public health system. In its 30 years of existence, the Unified Health System (SUS) has brought many advances to the Brazilian society. However, it still faces challenges to ensure health services in quantity and quality to the entire population. Federal, state and municipal government levels share the responsibility for its management and financing. In this governance scheme, it is the Municipal Health Secretariats (MHS) of the 5,596 Brazilian municipalities that are primarily responsible for providing and managing health services. Given the importance of this responsibility, Councils of Municipal Health Departments (COSEMS) and the National Council of Municipal Health Departments (CONASEMS) were created in 1986. Their role is to promote the articulation and negotiation of their interests with the federal and state levels. In Rio de Janeiro, a team of specialized professionals has been providing support for COSEMS-RJ since 2012. The team carries out activities in the nine regions of the state, which has 92 municipalities and more than 16 million inhabitants, the 3rd largest population in Brazil. Its activities are maintained by CONASEMS, the Ministry of Health and the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ). The objetive of this report is to present the experience of the expert team of COSEMS RJ as a strategy for strengthening regional governance and intergovernmental relations. Providing specialized technical support for MHS has improved local management of SUS and has allowed for the establishment of regionalized health care networks in Rio de Janeiro.
Key messages
The project improves the participation of municipal managers and teams in regional spaces. It strengthens their capacity for intergovernamental decision-making and regionalization of the health system. The project qualifies the municipal management for fundraising, knowledge building, policy implementing and monitoring, as well as participatory planning.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Grape pomace is a source of phenolic compounds, which are associated with health benefits in humans. Additionally, fermented dairy foods with probiotics can be good vehicles to deliver these bioactive compounds. The effects of the addition of grape pomace extract (GPE) on the total phenolic (TP) content, physico-chemical characteristics and viability of Lactobacillus acidophilus LA-5 or Lactobacillus rhamnosus HN001 in fermented goat milks prepared with grape juice were investigated. RESULTS The TP concentration increased significantly in fermented milks with the addition of GPE. A protective effect of GPE on the viability of L. acidophilus was observed. However, after 14 days of storage, the populations of L. acidophilus were significantly lower when compared with those of L. rhamnosus, and only the last probiotic maintained its viability above 7 log CFU mL-1 throughout the period investigated. The sensory scores of flavor, color and overall acceptability of the fermented milk containing L. rhamnosus HN001 were significantly increased when GPE was added. CONCLUSION The use of GPE might increase the functionality of probiotic fermented goat milk processed with L. rhamnosus HN001 and grape juice because grape polyphenols are known for their antioxidant properties and positive effect on the modulation of gut microbiota. © 2016 Society of Chemical Industry.

Abstract
Human Immunodeficiency Virus type 1 Reverse Transcriptase (HIV-1 RT) is one of the most important targets for treatment of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS). It catalyzes the reverse transcription of HIV-RNA into a double stranded DNA, and the knowledge of its substrate specificity and catalytic mechanism has guided the development of several inhibitors widely used on current HIV/AIDS therapy. However, mutations in HIV-1 RT structure can lead to the emergence of drug-resistant virus strains. The goal of this review is to summarize relevant structural features of HIV-1 RT and its inhibitors in such a way that this cost-effective target in the development of new antiretroviral drugs is particularly highlighted.

Abstract
Eukaryotic DNA replication requires an ordered and regulated machinery to control G1/S transition. The formation of the pre-replicative complex (pre-RC) is a key step involved in licensing DNA for replication. Here, we identify all putative components of the full pre-RC in the genome of the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana. Different from the other eukaryotes, Arabidopsis houses in its genome two putative homologs of ORC1, CDC6 and CDT1. Two mRNA variants of AtORC4 subunit, with different temporal expression patterns, were also identified. Two-hybrid binary interaction assays suggest a primary architectural organization of the Arabidopsis ORC, in which AtORC3 plays a central role in maintaining the complex associations. Expression profiles differ among pre-RC components suggesting the existence of various forms of the complex, possibly playing different roles during development. In addition, the expression of the putative pre-RC genes in non-proliferating plant tissues suggests that they might have roles in processes other than DNA replication licensing.

Abstract
This report deals with a new procedure suitable for the extraction of coumarin 1 from Mikania glomerata. The aim of this investigation is to obtain this compound in an economically profitable way, taking into account the yield of its extraction, the cost, and the time of the overall process. Fresh and dried plants collected in several areas of the State of Rio de Janeiro were used, and seasonal effects on coumarin content were studied. Obtained results indicated that extraction with a 1% (w/v) NaOH solution, under appropriate conditions, allows a simple and complete recovery of the desired product and that the best yields were obtained with the fresh aerial parts of the plant. Season and area of harvesting effects have also been studied.
