Abstract
Articular cartilage defects afflict millions of individuals worldwide, presenting a significant challenge due to the tissue's limited self-repair capability and anisotropic nature. Hydrogel-based biomaterials have emerged as promising candidates for scaffold production in artificial cartilage construction, owing to their water-rich composition, biocompatibility, and tunable properties. Nevertheless, conventional hydrogels typically lack the anisotropic structure inherent to natural cartilage, impeding their clinical and preclinical applications. Recent advancements in tissue engineering (TE) have introduced magnetically responsive hydrogels, a type of intelligent hydrogel that can be remotely controlled using an external magnetic field. These innovative materials offer a means to create the desired anisotropic architecture required for successful cartilage TE. In this review, we first explore conventional techniques employed for cartilage repair and subsequently delve into recent breakthroughs in the application and utilization of magnetic hydrogels across various aspects of articular cartilage TE.

Abstract
The important association of erythropoietin (EPO) serum levels and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) with anemia has been inadequately studied and remains a controversial issue. We aimed to shed light on this matter by comparing EPO levels in anemic and non-anemic COPD patients, along with a review of published literature. This cross-sectional study was conducted on COPD patients referred to the pulmonary clinic of Shahid Faghihi Hospital and Motahari clinic, Shiraz, Iran, for one year. We measured complete blood count, red blood cell indices, serum iron, TIBC and ferritin levels, serum EPO levels, and body mass index. Among 35 patients in this study, 28 males and 7 females were enrolled with a mean age of 54.57 ± 8.07 years. The average Forced expiratory volume in first second (FEV1) was 37.26 ± 7.33% and FEV1/FVC was 0.46 ± 0.12. Mean EPO levels were 30.29 ± 2.066 mU/mL. No statistically significant association was observed among erythropoietin levels and Hb, COPD severity, and age. There was no significant difference in EPO levels between anemic and non-anemic patients. EPO level, against the traditional expectation, didn't increase in COPD patients. EPO production also didn't compensate for the anemia of chronic disease which considers as a common comorbid disorder in these patients.

Abstract
MicroRNAs (miRNAs/miRs) are small non-coding RNAs that have a multifunction and play essential roles in gene regulation. Their dysregulation is associated with several human cancers. MiR-153 has a critical role in many biological processes, such as suppressing tumor growth (mostly), responses to treatment, and drug resistance. However, miR-153 in some cancers shows a different role as an oncogene, such as prostate. The miR-153 expression can be regulated by several regulators, such as lncRNAs and circular RNAs. By discovering the target factors for miR-153, it may be possible to approach early diagnosis, reversing drug resistance, and treatment of cancers. This will help choose the precise treatment for the patient and not incur additional costs in treatment. Thus, we attempt to summarize the current situation and potential development prospects about the role of miR-153 in cancers. The miR-153 paly an important role in cancers and can be used for diagnosis and prognosis.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Altered expression of several long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) has been described in numerous malignancies, including breast cancer, and some may have a role in carcinogenesis. We hypothesised differences in the expression of lncRNA MCM3AP-AS1 in breast cancer tissues compared to nearby healthy tissues and potential links with clinical features. METHODS We tested our hypothesis in 102 pairs of breast cancer tumours and adjacent non-tumour tissues from female patients. After RNA extraction, cDNA synthesis was performed for all specimens. The differential gene expression was assessed using Quantitative Real-Time PCR Technique. RESULTS There was a significant overexpression of the lncRNAs in tumour tissues as compared with their adjacent non-tumour tissues (P < 0.001). Expression was significantly linked with the tumour oestrogen receptor expression (P = 0.023) and tumour progesterone receptor expression (P < 0.001). ROC analysis showed an AUC of 0.67 (95% CI 0.60-0.75) (P < 0.001) with sensitivity and specificity of 58% and 76%, respectively. CONCLUSION The lncRNA MCM3AP-AS1 may be a novel breast cancer lncRNA with high expression levels in breast cancer patients' tissue. Further investigations are needed to confirm its uses as a potential molecular marker and therapeutic target.

Abstract
Aims: To determine the clients’ profile of referred in female victims of sexual violence.
Methods: In a period of 7 years (2006-2012), 2113 cases of plaintiffs complaining about women sexual violence were investigated by a questionnaire after receiving permission from Shiraz University of Medical Sciences and Forensic Medicine Organization. Data were analyzed after entering SPSS software, version 16, using descriptive statistics and chi-square.
Results: The prevalence of rape has decreased in different ages. In 1668 cases, the plaintiffs were female (78.93 %) and most of the victims (36.5%) aged between 16 and 25 years old. According to Fisher test, there was a significant relationship between the age of the victims and different years of examination (p≤0.001). The highest frequency of 30% is reported at elementary education level. The highest frequency of sexual violence against women (18.3%) was reported in 2006 followed by 18.2% in 2011. In terms of occupation, the highest frequency of victims was related to students estimated as 40.52%.
Conclusions: Because of the unpleasant nature of sexual violence, there is a serious need for urgent and necessary consideration of its harmful effects and root out this social dilemma by policy makers. Sexual abuse must be prevented especially using religious achievements or by developing effective control strategies detected and by experience female health care users treated.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The aim was to investigate the effect of aromatherapy using Citrus aurantium blossom essential oil on premenstrual syndrome in university students. METHODS In this double-blind clinical trial controlled on 62 students from March 2016 to February 2017. The intervention with 0.5% of C. Aurantium blossom essential oil and control was inhalation of odorless sweet almond oil in the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle. The screening questionnaire (PSST) for PMSwas filled out before and also one and two months after the intervention. RESULTS Mean score of overall symptoms of PMS between the Bitter orange and control groups In the first (p < 0.003) and second months (p < 0.001) of the intervention was significant. Besides, decreased the mean score of psychological symptoms in the intervention group (p < 0.001), but on physical symptoms and social function was not significant (p > 0.05). CONCLUSION The aromatherapy with Citrus aurantium blossom improved the symptoms of premenstrual syndrome.

Abstract
Background: Ovarian cancer is one of the most lethal gynecological malignancies and numerous changes in signaling cascades are involved in the initiation and progression of ovarian cancerous cells. Here, we investigated the role of NF-κB and Notch pathways inhibition on human ovarian cancer OVCAR-3 cells proliferation and IκB-α and Hes-1 expression as 2 key genes in these pathways regulation. Methods: The effects of Bay 11-7085 and DAPT, NF-κB and Notch pathways specific inhibitors, on cell proliferation were evaluated using MTT assay. In addition, the cells were transfected by Notch and IKK-β siRNAs. mRNA and protein levels of target genes were measured by quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) and western blot after 48 h incubation with inhibitors and siRNAs. Results: Bay 11-7085 and DAPT significantly decreased the cell proliferation OVCAR-3. IκB-α and Hes-1 mRNA levels decreased to 5 or 3% and 6% or 2% after treatment with Bay 11-7085 or DAPT, respectively (p<0.05). We also found that combination treatment exert a more potent effects on the expression of these gene (p<0.05). Moreover, siRNA transfection caused a significant reduction in IκB-α and Hes-1 mRNA levels (p<0.05). In the protein level, OVCAR-3 cell treatment with both chemichal inhibitors and specific siRNA cause a significant decrease in the expression of target genes (p<0.05) Conclusion: Our findings suggest that inhibition of NF-κB and Notch signaling pathways can effectively reduce OVCAR-3 cells proliferation. Therefore, pharmacological targeting of the NF-κB and Notch signaling pathway could be a promising future treatment of ovarian cancer.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Endemic goiter is present in most parts of Iran. Iron deficiency adversely affects the physiology of thyroid. The initial steps of thyroid hormone synthesis are catalyzed by thyroperoxidases and are dependent on iron. In many developing countries, children are at high risk of both goiter and iron deficiency anemia. In addition, iron deficiency may alter central nervous system control of thyroid metabolism; andalso Iron-deficiency anemia decreases plasma concentrations of thyroxine and triiodothyronine. MATERIAL AND METHOD We conducted a randomized, double-blind,controlled trial in 2-12-y-old children with euthyroid goiter and without iron-deficiency anemia. THE CHILDREN WEREDIVIDED INTO TWO GROUPS: The Patients who were under treatment with ferrous-sulphat and controls .active treatment consisted of iron supplementation was administered orally with a dose of 2 mg/kg day. The duration of active treatment was 12 weeks. RESULTS In this study 40 children (female: 22, male: 18) were divided into two groups randomly. (20 patients in each group).There were no significant differences at baselines between groups with regard to gender, age and weigh. At the end of the study, the reduction of more than one grade of goiter was significant between iron-treated and placebo groups. In treatment group, 16 patients (80%) had decreased grade of goiter, while in the control group, 3 patients (15%) had grade reduction(P-value<0.001). CONCLUSION At the end of the study, decrease of more than one grade of goiter had significant differences between iron-treated and control groups.

Abstract
Iron deficiency anemia is the most prevalent micronutrient deficiency in the world, affecting 20-50% of the world's population. It is estimated that 10 and 20% of male and female athletes are iron deficient, respectively. Iron deficiency has deleterious effects on the physical performance of athletes. It decreases aerobic capacity, increases heart rate and elongates the recovery time after exercise. In this cross-sectional study, 42 semi-professional female athletes who had been playing in basketball, volleyball and handball super league teams served as subjects. Data on socioeconomic and fertility status as well as the type of sport were obtained through a questionnaire. Nutritional data were gathered with a 3 day dietary recall. Total intake of calorie, iron, zinc, folate, vitamin C and B12 were also analyzed. In addition, ferritin and TIBC were measured and a CBC test was done for each subject. The results showed that the mean total calorie intake of women was 2049.79 +/- 735.12 kcal, where their iron intake was 22.33 +/- 9.24 mg day(-1). There was a significant difference between the iron intake of basketball and volleyball players (p = 0.036). Of our subjects, 33.33% had low ferritin levels (< 30 ng mL(-1)) and it was lowest in handball players. Higher than normal ferritin levels were seen in 12.5% of the subjects. We saw a significant difference in ferritin levels of basketball and handball players (p = 0.047). We conclude that the intake of calorie and iron is low in female athletes and therefore, their hematological indices such as ferritin level are below standard values.
