Abstract
ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge is a kind of Chinese herbal medicine known for activating blood circulation and removing blood stasis, with the effect of cooling blood and eliminating carbuncles, and has been proven to have the effect of treating tumors. However, the inhibitory effect of Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge extracts (Diterpenoid tanshinones) on tumors by inhibiting angiogenesis has not been studied in detail. AIM OF THE STUDY This study aimed to investigate the anti-gastric cancer effect of diterpenoid tanshinones (DT) on angiogenesis, including the therapeutic effects and pathways. MATERIALS AND METHODS This experiment utilized network pharmacology was used to identify relevant targets and pathways of Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge-related components in the treatment of gastric cancer. The effects of DT on the proliferation and migration of human gastric cancer cell line SGC-7901 and human umbilical vein endothelial cell line HUVECs were evaluated, and changes in the expression of angiogenesis-related factors were measured. In vivo, experiments were conducted on nude mice to determine tumor activity, size, immunohistochemistry, and related proteins. RESULTS The findings showed that DT could inhibit the development of gastric cancer by suppressing the proliferation of gastric cancer cells, inducing apoptosis, and inhibiting invasion and metastasis. In addition, the content of angiogenesis-related factors and proteins was significantly altered in DT-affected cells and animals. CONCLUSIONS Results suggest that DT has potential as a therapeutic agent for the treatment of gastric cancer, as it can inhibit tumor growth and angiogenesis. It was also found that DT may affect the expression of the angiogenic factor VEGF through the PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway, leading to the regulation of tumor angiogenesis. This study provides a new approach to the development of anti-tumor agents and has significant theoretical and clinical implications for the treatment of gastric cancer.

Abstract
Neuronal death resulting from ischemic stroke is the primary cause of adult mortality and disability, and effective neuroprotective agents for poststroke intervention are still lacking. Remote ischemic postconditioning (RIPostC) has demonstrated significant protective effects against ischemia in various organs; however, the specific mechanisms are not fully understood. This study investigated the potential neuroprotective mechanisms of RIPostC in the context of ischemic stroke. Using a rat model of middle cerebral artery occlusion, we found that RIPostC mitigated neurological damage, improved movement in the open-field test, and protected against neuronal apoptosis. In terms of energy metabolism, RIPostC enhanced ATP levels, suppressed lactate content, and increased the production of ketone bodies (KBs). In the ferroptosis assay, RIPostC protected against lipoperoxidation, reversed the reduction of glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4), and mitigated the excessive expression of long-chain acyl-CoA synthetase family member 4 (ACSL4). In oxygen-glucose deprivation/reoxygenation-treated HT22 cells, KBs maintained GPX4 levels, suppressed ACSL4 expression, and preserved the mitochondrial cristae number. However, the effect of KBs on the expression of GPX4, ACSL4, and the number of mitochondrial cristae was blocked by erastin. Moreover, both RIPostC and KBs reduced total iron and ferrous ion content by repressing iron transporters both in vitro and in vivo. In conclusion, KBs-induced mitigation of ferroptosis could represent a new therapeutic mechanism for RIPostC in treating stroke.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the clinical characteristics, pathological features, and diagnosis and treatment strategies of nasal chondromesenchymal hamartoma (NCMH) in infants and young children. Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on seven cases of NCMH infants and young children admitted to Beijing Children's Hospital, Capital Medical University from April 2015 to January 2022. The cohort included 5 males and 2 females, aged from 6 days to 2 years and 3 months. General information, clinical symptoms, imaging findings, treatment plans, postoperative complications, recurrence and follow-up time were collected, summarized and analyzed. Additionally, immunohistochemical characteristics of the lesion were examined. Results: The clinical symptoms of 7 children included nasal congestion, runny nose, open mouth breathing, snoring during sleep, difficulty feeding, and strabismus. All patients underwent electronic nasopharyngoscopy examination, with 5 cases of tumors located in the right nasal cavity and 2 cases in the left nasal cavity. No case of bilateral nasal cavity disease was found. All 7 patients underwent complete imaging examinations, with 5 patients underwent MRI and CT examinations, 1 patient underwent CT examination only, and 1 patient underwent MRI examination only. The CT results showed that all tumors were broad-based, with uneven density, multiple calcifications and bone remodeling, and some exhibited multiple cystic components. The MRI results showed that the tumor showed low signal on T1 weighted imaging and high or slightly high signal on T2 weighted imaging. All patients were diagnosed through histopathological examination and immunohistochemistry, including 7 cases of Ki-67 and SMA (+), 5 cases of S-100 and Vimentin (+), and all EMA and GFAP were negative. All patients underwent endoscopic resection surgery through the nasal approach, with 3 cases using navigation technology. Five cases of tumors were completely removed, and two cases of tumors were mostly removed. No nasal packing was performed after surgery, and no postoperative nasal, ocular, or intracranial complication occurred in all patients. Follow up assessments conducted 6 to 84 months post-surgery revealed no instances of tumor recurrence in any of the patients. Conclusions: The clinical symptoms of children with NCHM mainly depend on the size and location of the tumor. Nasal endoscopic surgery is the main treatment method. In cases where critical structures like the skull base or orbit are implicated, staged surgical interventions may be warranted. Long-term follow-up is strongly advised to monitor for any potential recurrence or complications.

Abstract
Telomere repeat binding factor 2 (TRF2), a critical element of the shelterin complex, plays a vital role in the maintenance of genome integrity. TRF2 overexpression is found in a wide range of malignant cancers, whereas its down-regulation could cause cell death. Despite its potential role, the selectively small-molecule inhibitors of TRF2 and its therapeutic effects on liver cancer remain largely unknown. Our clinical data combined with bioinformatic analysis demonstrated that TRF2 is overexpressed in liver cancer and that high expression is associated with poor prognosis. Flavokavain B derivative FKB04 potently inhibited TRF2 expression in liver cancer cells while having limited effects on the other five shelterin subunits. Moreover, FKB04 treatment induced telomere shortening and increased the amounts of telomere-free ends, leading to the destruction of T-loop structure. Consequently, FKB04 promoted liver cancer cell senescence without modulating apoptosis levels. In corroboration with these findings, FKB04 inhibited tumor cell growth by promoting telomeric TRF2 deficiency-induced telomere shortening in a mouse xenograft tumor model, with no obvious side effects. These results demonstrate that TRF2 is a potential therapeutic target for liver cancer and suggest that FKB04 may be a selective small-molecule inhibitor of TRF2, showing promise in the treatment of liver cancer.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Jolkinolide B (JB), an ent‑abietane-type diterpenoid in Euphorbia plants, has various pharmacological activities, including anticancer, anti-inflammatory, and anti-tuberculosis activities. However, no previous studies have proven whether JB can be regarded as a targeted drug for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). PURPOSE This study aimed to evaluate the anti-RA effects of JB and explore the potential mechanisms. METHODS Components and targets of JB and RA were identified in different databases, and potential targets and pathways were predicted by protein-protein interaction (PPI) network analysis and pathway enrichment analysis. Then, molecular docking and surface-plasmon resonance (SPR) were used to confirm the predict. The anti-arthritic effects of JB were studied in vivo with collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) rat model and in vitro with lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and interleukin-6 (IL-6)-induced RAW264.7 macrophage. Potential mechanisms were further verified by in vivo and in vitro experiments. RESULTS The Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) analysis showed that Th17 cell differentiation, prolactin signaling pathway, and JAK/STAT signaling pathway might be associated with anti-RA effects of JB. Molecular docking and SPR results showed that JB bound effectively to JAK2. JB significantly decreased body weight loss, arthritis index, paw thickness, and synovial thickness in CIA rats. Histomorphological results suggested the protective effects of JB on CIA rats with ankle joint injury. Molecular biology analysis indicated that JB suppressed the mRNA expression of inflammatory factors in ankle joints for CIA rats and reduced the concentration of these factors in LPS- induced RAW264.7 macrophage. The protein expression level of the JAK2/STAT3 pathway was also significantly decreased by JB. CONCLUSION JB had a novel inhibitory effect on inflammation and bone destruction in CIA rats, and the mechanism might be related to the JAK2/STAT3 signaling pathway.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the concern about pollen broadcasting in Chinese population from multiple dimensions and to understand the information about allergic rhinitis (AR) in China by analyzing related factors. Methods: From March 1 to September 30, 2022, a large-scale multi-center cross-sectional survey was conducted based on the Questionnaire Star platform in 21 Chinese hospitals. A total of 7 056 subjects from 7 regions in China: Northeast, North, East, Central, South, Southwest, and Northwest China were included. Basic characteristics (including social demographic characteristics and disease characteristics of AR patients), concern about pollen broadcasting, the willingness of pollen-induced AR (PiAR) patients to receive pollen broadcasting, and the treatment satisfaction rate of AR patients were collected. The chi-square test, multivariate linear regression model, and Logistic regression analysis were used to analyze the concern about pollen broadcasting in the Chinese population and related factors from multiple dimensions. Results: Among 7 056 subjects, 23.02% were concerned about pollen broadcasting. Among 3 176 self-reported AR and 1 019 PiAR patients, 25.60% and 39.16% were concerned about pollen broadcasting, respectively, which was higher than that of non-AR or non-PiAR subjects (χ2 value was 21.74 and 175.11, respectively, both P<0.001). Among AR patients, the proportion of spring and autumn allergen-positive patients concerned about pollen broadcasting was higher than that in perennial allergen-positive patients (χ2 value was 20.90 and 19.51, respectively, both P<0.001). The proportion of AR patients with asthma, sinusitis, allergic conjunctivitis, and cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases was higher than those without complications (χ2 value was 50.83, 21.97, 56.78, 7.62, respectively, all P<0.05). The proportion of AR patients in North China who could find pollen broadcasting locally was 31.01%, significantly higher than those in other regions (all P<0.05). Multivariate linear regression model analysis showed that among PiAR patients, those with higher per capita household income and higher AR disease cognition levels had been concerned about pollen broadcasting in the past, and those complicated with allergic conjunctivitis had stronger intention to receive pollen broadcasting (B value was 0.24, 0.13, 0.66, 0.47, respectively, all P<0.05). The higher the disease cognition level of PiAR patients, the stronger their willingness to actively participate in treatment (R2=0.72, P<0.001). Only 18.89% of AR patients felt satisfied with the treatment effect. Logistic regression analysis showed that in AR patients, the treatment satisfaction rate was significantly higher among those concerned about pollen broadcasting compared to those who were not (OR=1.83, P<0.001). Conclusions: Currently, the dissemination of pollen broadcasting in China is hindered by various factors such as disease cognition level. The treatment satisfaction among AR patients remains unsatisfactory.

Abstract
IMPORTANCE DNA-based detection and quantification of soil-borne pathogens, such as the Ralstonia solanacearum species complex (RSSC), plays a vital role in risk assessment, but meanwhile, precise quantification is difficult due to the poor purity and yield of the soil DNA retrieved. The internal sample process control (ISPC) strain RsPC we developed solved this problem and significantly improved the accuracy of quantification of RSSC in different soils. ISPC-based quantitative PCR detection is a method especially suitable for the quantitative detection of microbes in complex matrices (such as soil and sludge) containing various PCR inhibitors and for those not easy to lyse (like Gram-positive bacteria, fungi, and thick-wall cells like resting spores). In addition, the use of ISPC strains removes additional workload on the preparation of high-quality template DNA and facilitates the development of high-throughput quantitative detection techniques for soil microbes.

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the safety of double and a half layered esophagojejunal anastomosis in radical gastrectomy. Methods: This prospective, multi-center, single-arm study was initiated by the Affiliated Cancer Hospital of Zhengzhou University in June 2021 (CRAFT Study, NCT05282563). Participating institutions included Nanyang Central Hospital, Zhumadian Central Hospital, Luoyang Central Hospital, First Affiliated Hospital of Henan Polytechnic University, First Affiliated Hospital of Henan University, Luohe Central Hospital, the People's Hospital of Hebi, First People's Hospital of Shangqiu, Anyang Tumor Hospital, First People's Hospital of Pingdingshan, and Zhengzhou Central Hospital Affiliated to Zhengzhou University. Inclusion criteria were as follows: (1) gastric adenocarcinoma confirmed by preoperative gastroscopy;(2) preoperative imaging assessment indicated that R0 resection was feasible; (3) preoperative assessment showed no contraindications to surgery;(4) esophagojejunostomy planned during the procedure; (5) patients volunteered to participate in this study and gave their written informed consent; (6) ECOG score 0-1; and (7) ASA score I-III. Exclusion criteria were as follows: (1) history of upper abdominal surgery (except laparoscopic cholecystectomy);(2) history of gastric surgery (except endoscopic submucosal dissection and endoscopic mucosal resection); (3) pregnancy or lactation;(4) emergency surgery for gastric cancer-related complications (perforation, hemorrhage, obstruction); (5) other malignant tumors within 5 years or coexisting malignant tumors;(6) arterial embolism within 6 months, such as angina pectoris, myocardial infarction, and cerebrovascular accident; and (7) comorbidities or mental health abnormalities that could affect patients' participation in the study. Patients were eliminated from the study if: (1) radical gastrectomy could not be completed; (2) end-to-side esophagojejunal anastomosis was not performed during the procedure; or (3) esophagojejunal anastomosis reinforcement was not possible. Double and a half layered esophagojejunal anastomosis was performed as follows: (1) Open surgery: the full thickness of the anastomosis is continuously sutured, followed by embedding the seromuscular layer with barbed or 3-0 absorbable sutures. The anastomosis is sutured with an average of six to eight stitches. (2) Laparoscopic surgery: the anastomosis is strengthened by counterclockwise full-layer sutures. Once the anastomosis has been sutured to the right posterior aspect of the anastomosis, the jejunum stump is pulled to the right and the anastomosis turned over to continue to complete reinforcement of the posterior wall. The suture interval is approximately 5 mm. After completing the full-thickness suture, the anastomosis is embedded in the seromuscular layer. Relevant data of patients who had undergone radical gastrectomy in the above 12 centers from June 2021 were collected and analyzed. The primary outcome was safety (e.g., postoperative complications, and treatment). Other studied variables included details of surgery (e.g., surgery time, intraoperative bleeding), postoperative recovery (postoperative time to passing flatus and oral intake, length of hospital stay), and follow-up conditions (quality of life as assessed by Visick scores). Result: [1] From June 2021 to September 2022,457 patients were enrolled, including 355 men and 102 women of median age 60.8±10.1 years and BMI 23.7±3.2 kg/m2. The tumors were located in the upper stomach in 294 patients, mid stomach in 139; and lower stomach in 24. The surgical procedures comprised 48 proximal gastrectomies and 409 total gastrectomies. Neoadjuvant chemotherapy was administered to 85 patients. Other organs were resected in 85 patients. The maximum tumor diameter was 4.3±2.2 cm, number of excised lymph nodes 28.3±15.2, and number of positive lymph nodes five (range one to four. As to pathological stage,83 patients had Stage I disease, 128 Stage II, 237 Stage III, and nine Stage IV. [2] The studied surgery-related variables were as follows: The operation was successfully completed in all patients, 352 via a transabdominal approach, 25 via a transhiatus approach, and 80 via a transthoracoabdominal approach. The whole procedure was performed laparoscopically in 53 patients (11.6%), 189 (41.4%) underwent laparoscopic-assisted surgery, and 215 (47.0%) underwent open surgery. The median intraoperative blood loss was 200 (range, 10-1 350) mL, and the operating time 215.6±66.7 minutes. The anastomotic reinforcement time was 2 (7.3±3.9) minutes for laparoscopic-assisted surgery, 17.6±1.7 minutes for total laparoscopy, and 6.0±1.2 minutes for open surgery. [3] The studied postoperative variables were as follows: The median time to postoperative passage of flatus was 3.1±1.1 days and the postoperative gastrointestinal angiography time 6 (range, 4-13) days. The median time to postoperative oral intake was 7 (range, 2-14) days, and the postoperative hospitalization time 15.8±6.7 days. [4] The safety-related variables were as follows: In total, there were 184 (40.3%) postoperative complications. These comprised esophagojejunal anastomosis complications in 10 patients (2.2%), four (0.9%) being anastomotic leakage (including two cases of subclinical leakage and two of clinical leakage; all resolved with conservative treatment); and six patients (1.3%) with anastomotic stenosis (two who underwent endoscopic balloon dilation 21 and 46 days after surgery, the others improved after a change in diet). There was no anastomotic bleeding. Non-anastomotic complications occurred in 174 patients (38.1%). All patients attended for follow-up at least once, the median follow-up time being 10 (3-18) months. Visick grades were as follows: Class I, 89.1% (407/457); Class II, 7.9% (36/457); Class III, 2.6% (12/457); and Class IV 0.4% (2/457). Conclusion: Double and a half layered esophagojejunal anastomosis in radical gastrectomy is safe and feasible.

Abstract
To explore the situation of 8 common respiratory pathogens in children with acute respiratory infection (ARI) from 2021 to 2022.The retrospective study selected 8 710 ARI patients from September 2021 to August 2022 in the Maternal and Child Health Hospital of Gansu Province as the study object, patients aged 0 to 17 years old, including 5 048 male children and 3 662 female children. Indirect immunofluorescence was used to detect 8 common respiratory pathogens, including influenza virus A (FluA), influenza virus B (FluB), parainfluenza virus (PIV), respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), adenovirus (ADV), Mycoplasma pneumoniae (MP), Chlamydia pneumoniae (CP), and Coxsackie virus group B (CoxB) IgM antibodies. χ2 test was used to analyze the results. The results showed that 1 497 of 8 710 children with ARI were positive, with a positive rate of 17.19%. The detection rate of MP among 8 common respiratory pathogens was 11.34%, accounting for 66.0%, followed by FluB, CoxB, PIV, RSV, ADV, FluA and CP, accounting for 13.83%, 9.55%, 6.01%, 2.61%, 1.47%, 0.40% and 0.13%, respectively. Respiratory tract viruses (FluA, FluB, RSV, ADV, PIV, CoxB) accounted for 33.86%.There were significant differences in the detection rates of PIV, ADV and MP among children of different genders (χ2=6.814, 5.154 and 17.784, P<0.05). The detection rate of school-age children (6-17 years old) was the highest, accounting for 33.27% (184/553). The detection rates of 8 common respiratory pathogens in patients with ARI were higher in spring and winter and lower in summer and autumn. To sum up, from 2021 to 2022, MP and FluB infection were dominant in ARI patients in our hospital. The peak period of 8 common respiratory pathogens was in spring and winter. The physical examination rate of 8 common respiratory pathogens in ARI patients aged 6-17 years old was the highest.

We investigated the tolerance mechanism of cotton under Cu2+ stress in a hybrid cotton variety (Zhongmian 63) and two parent lines with different Cu2+ concentrations (0, 0.2, 50, and 100 μM). The stem height, root length, and leaf area of cotton seedlings had decreased growth rates in response to increasing Cu2+ concentrations. Increasing Cu2+ concentration promoted Cu2+ accumulation in all three cotton genotypes' roots, stems, and leaves. However, compared with the parent lines, the roots of Zhongmian 63 were richer in Cu2+ and had the least amount of Cu2+ transported to the shoots. Moreover, excess Cu2+ also induced changes in cellular redox homeostasis, causing accumulation of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and malondialdehyde (MDA). Conversely, antioxidant enzyme activity increased, while photosynthetic pigment content decreased. Our findings indicated that the hybrid cotton variety fared well under Cu2+ stress. This creates a theoretical foundation for the further analysis of the molecular mechanism of cotton resistance to copper and suggests the potential of the large-scale planting of Zhongmian 63 in copper-contaminated soils.

Abstract
Water-carbon nexus exerts significant influence on environmental sustainability. The demand-side patterns of water-carbon nexus in supply chains have been extensively conducted. However, there is still research gap in unveiling supply-side complex relationships among various sectors from multi-policy perspectives. In this study, a factorial stepwise-clustering input-output (FSCIO) model is developed to uncover the complicated water-carbon nexus accompanied by analyses of multi-element, multi-sector and multi-policy. This is the first time that input-output analysis (IOA), stepwise cluster analysis (SCA) and factorial analysis (FA) are integrated to explore water-carbon nexus. Water-carbon flows along supply chains are tracked through IOA. SCA helps identify key sectors through evaluating the complexities in water-carbon nexus. FA helps examine different supply-side policies (i.e., input- and allocation-oriented policies, abbreviated as IOP and AOP) through quantifying the effects of multiple sectors and their interactions. We find that China's water-carbon characteristics in supply side differ greatly from those in demand side (e.g., construction is a significant final consumer and other service is more prominent as a primary supplier). The impacts of supply-side policies on different sectors vary significantly and AOP is generally better than IOP in the trade-off between water-carbon pressures mitigation and economic development. The effects of multiple sectors and their interactions on water and carbon shouldn't be neglected and the appropriate policy combinations could have good synergistic effects (e.g., IOP on electricity-gas-water supply, and AOP on chemical, machinery and other service). This study not only provides insight into the multifaceted features of China's water-carbon nexus, but also provides guidance for the supply-side policies.

Abstract
Antibiotic associated diarrhea (AAD) is a common side effect of antibiotic therapy in which gut microbiota plays an important role in the disease. However, the function of gut microbiota in this disease is still not entirely clear. Polysaccharides have shown strong activity in shaping gut microbiota. Whether the polysaccharide can intervene with the microbiota to improve ADD has not been determined. In this study, we extract crude polysaccharides from Nemacystus decipiens (N. decipiens), a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), named NDH0. The crude polysaccharide NDH0 might significantly relieve the symptom of mice with AAD, including a reduction in body weight, shortening of cecum index and the infiltration of inflammatory cells into the colon. NDH0-treated mice exhibited more abundant gut microbial diversity; significantly increased the abundance of Muribaculum, Lactobacillus, and Bifidobacterium and decreased the abundance of Enterobacter and Clostridioides at genus level. NDH0 treatment down-regulated the level of pro-inflammatory cytokines, including IL-1β and IL-6 in colon tissue. NDH0 protected the integrity of colon tissues and partially inactivated the related inflammation pathway by maintaining occludin and SH2-containing Inositol 5'-Phosphatase (SHIP). NDH0 could alleviate symptoms of diarrhea by modulating gut microbiota composition, improving intestinal integrity and reducing inflammation. The underlying protective mechanism was to reduce the abundance of opportunistic pathogens and maintain SHIP protein expression. Collectively, our results demonstrated the role of NDH0 as a potential intestinal protective agent in gut dysbiosis.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Although primary tumor sidedness (PTS) has a known prognostic role in sporadic colorectal cancer (CRC), its role in Inflammatory Bowel Disease related CRC (IBD-CRC) is largely unknown. Thus, we aimed to evaluate the prognostic role of PTS in patients with IBD-CRC. METHODS All eligible patients with surgically treated, non-metastatic IBD-CRC were retrospectively identified from institutional databases at ten European and Asian academic centers. Long term endpoints included recurrence-free (RFS) and overall survival (OS). Multivariable Cox proportional hazard regression as well as propensity score analyses were performed to evaluate whether PTS was significantly associated with RFS and OS. RESULTS A total of 213 patients were included in the analysis, of which 32.4% had right-sided (RS) tumors and 67.6% had left-sided (LS) tumors. PTS was not associated with OS and RFS even on univariable analysis (5-year OS for RS vs LS tumors was 68.0% vs 77.3%, respectively, p = 0.31; 5-year RFS for RS vs LS tumors was 62.8% vs 65.4%, respectively, p = 0.51). Similarly, PTS was not associated with OS and RFS on propensity score matched analysis (5-year OS for RS vs LS tumors was 82.9% vs 91.3%, p = 0.79; 5-year RFS for RS vs LS tumors was 85.1% vs 81.5%, p = 0.69). These results were maintained when OS and RFS were calculated in patients with RS vs LS tumors after excluding patients with rectal tumors (5-year OS for RS vs LS tumors was 68.0% vs 77.2%, respectively, p = 0.38; 5-year RFS for RS vs LS tumors was 62.8% vs 59.2%, respectively, p = 0.98). CONCLUSIONS In contrast to sporadic CRC, PTS does not appear to have a prognostic role in IBD-CRC.

Abstract
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic, progressive inflammatory and systemic autoimmune disease resulting in severe joint destruction, lifelong suffering and considerable disability. Diverse prescriptions of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) containing Epimedii Herba (EH) achieve greatly curative effects against RA. The present review aims to systemically summarize the therapeutic effect, pharmacological mechanism, bioavailability and safety assessment of EH to provide a novel insight for subsequent studies. The search terms included were "Epimedii Herba", "yinyanghuo", "arthritis, rheumatoid" and "Rheumatoid Arthritis", and relevant literatures were collected on the database such as Google Scholar, Pubmed, Web of Science and CNKI. In this review, 15 compounds from EH for the treatment of RA were summarized from the aspects of anti-inflammatory, immunoregulatory, cartilage and bone protective, antiangiogenic and antioxidant activities. Although EH has been frequently used to treat RA in clinical practice, studies on mechanisms of these activities are still scarce. Various compounds of EH have the multifunctional traits in the treatment of RA, so EH may be a great complementary medicine option and it is necessary to pay more attention to further research and development.

Abstract
Simple Summary In this literature review, we investigated the relationship between BRAF mutation and prognosis in patients with colorectal cancer liver metastases. We also investigated factors affecting the prognosis of patients with BRAF mutations and summarized the latest research on targeted therapies. Abstract Surgery combined with chemotherapy and precision medicine is the only potential treatment for patients with colorectal cancer liver metastases (CRLM). The use of modern molecular biotechnology to identify suitable biomarkers is of great significance for predicting prognosis and formulating individualized treatment plans for these patients. BRAF mutations, particularly V600E, are widely believed to be associated with poor prognosis in patients with metastatic CRC (mCRC). However, it is unclear which specific factors affect the prognosis of CRLM patients with BRAF mutations. It is also unknown whether patients with resectable CRLM and BRAF mutations should undergo surgical treatment since there is an increased recurrence rate after surgery in these patients. In this review, we combined the molecular mechanism and clinical characteristics of BRAF mutations to explore the prognostic significance and potential targeted therapy strategies for patients with BRAF-mutated CRLM.

Abstract
Currently, the predictive role of POLE mutations for immunotherapy is under intense investigation. The POLE gene encodes one of the four subunits of DNA polymerase important for DNA replication and repair. POLE mutations are related to other favorable predicative factors such as high expression of PD-L1, high TMB, and infiltration of CD8+ cells in the tumor microenvironment. No formal clinical trials studied the efficacy of immunotherapy in lung patients harboring POLE mutation, and only few cases were mentioned in the literature. Moreover, lung cancer patients are prone to brain metastasis, which is notorious for the unresponsiveness to chemotherapy. The efficacy of immunotherapy for brain metastasis is still controversial. Here, we described a case of a POLEmt non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patient with brain metastasis who was treated with immunotherapy. His brain lesions disappeared after treatment. Our report strongly supported the benefit of immune-combined therapy for advanced NSCLC patients with POLE mutation, even with brain metastasis.

Abstract
Blood–brain barrier (BBB) dysfunction causing edema and hemorrhagic transformation is one of the pathophysiological characteristics of stroke. Protection of BBB integrity has shown great potential in improving stroke outcome. Here, we assessed the efficacy of exosomes extracted from healthy rat serum in protection against ischemic stroke in vivo and in vitro. Exosomes were isolated by gradient centrifugation and ultracentrifugation and exosomes were characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and nanoparticle tracking video microscope. Exosomes were applied to middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) rats or brain microvascular endothelial cell line (bEnd.3) subjected to oxygen-glucose deprivation (OGD) injury. Serum-derived exosomes were injected intravenously into adult male rats 2 h after transient MCAO. Infarct volume and gross cognitive function were assessed 24 h after reperfusion. Poststroke rats treated with serum-derived exosomes exhibited significantly reduced infarct volumes and enhanced neurological function. Apoptosis was assessed via terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase (TdT)-mediated dUTP nick-end labeling (TUNEL) staining and the expression of B-cell lymphoma-2 (Bcl-2), Bax, and cleaved caspase-3 24 h after injury. Our data showed that serum exosomes treatment strikingly decreased TUNEL+ cells in the striatum, enhanced the ratio of Bcl-2 to Bax, and inhibited cleaved caspase-3 production in MCAO rats and OGD/reoxygenation insulted bEnd.3 cells. Under the consistent treatment, the expression of microtubule-associated protein 1 light chain 3B-II (LC3B-II), LC3B-I, and Sequestosome-1 (SQSTM1)/p62 was detected by Western blotting. Autolysosomes were observed via TEM. We found that serum exosomes reversed the ratio of LC3B-II to LC3B-I, prevented SQSTM1/p62 degradation, autolysosome formation, and autophagic flux. Together, these results indicated that exosomes isolated from healthy serum provided neuroprotection against experimental stroke partially via inhibition of endothelial cell apoptosis and autophagy-mediated BBB breakdown. Intravenous serum-derived exosome treatment may, therefore, provide a novel clinical therapeutic strategy for ischemic stroke.

Abstract
The release of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) into vasculature is an early event in the metastatic process and the detection of CTCs has been widely used clinically. In addition, cancer stem cells (CSCs) are the source of distant metastasis. However, the relationship between CTCs and CSCs in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) patients was largely unknown. A total of 93 NPC patients were enrolled in this study. The CTCs in the peripheral blood were detected. The expression of ALDH1A1 in the tumor tissues of the corresponding patients was detected using immunohistochemistry (IHC). The prognostic value of CTCs level and the correlation with the expression of ALDH1A1 was evaluated. Data showed that the detection of CTCs was positively correlated with metastasis (P < 0.001). The positive detection of CTCs was also associated with poor overall survival (P = 0.025). CTC ≥ 2 demonstrated good specificity and sensitivity in predicting distant metastasis, while CTC ≥ 8 demonstrated better specificity and sensitivity in predicting prognosis than CTC ≥ 2. Furthermore, we found that there was a positive relationship between the detection of CTCs and the expression of ALDH1A1 (P = 0.001). The prognosis analysis also demonstrated that high ALDH1A1 expression was correlated with poor overall survival (P = 0.006). Our study demonstrated a positive correlation between the CTC and the expression of CSCs, both were positively correlated with metastasis and poor prognosis. These results indicated that the CTC might indirectly reflect the expression of CSCs.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The incidence of retrorectal lesions is low, and no consensus has been reached regarding the most optimal surgical approach. Laparoscopic approach has the advantage of minimally invasive. The risk factors influencing perioperative complications of laparoscopic surgery are rarely discussed.
AIM To investigate the risk factors for perioperative complications in laparoscopic surgeries of retrorectal cystic lesions.
METHODS We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of patients who underwent laparoscopic excision of retrorectal cystic lesions between August 2012 and May 2020 at our hospital. All surgeries were performed in the general surgery department. Patients were divided into groups based on the lesion location and diameter. We analysed the risk factors like type 2 diabetes mellitus, hypertension, the history of abdominal surgery, previous treatment, clinical manifestation, operation duration, blood loss, perioperative complications, and readmission rate within 90 d retrospectively.
RESULTS Severe perioperative complications occurred in seven patients. Prophylactic transverse colostomy was performed in four patients with suspected rectal injury. Two patients underwent puncture drainage due to postoperative pelvic infection. One patient underwent debridement in the operating room due to incision infection. The massive-lesion group had a significantly longer surgery duration, higher blood loss, higher incidence of perioperative complications, and higher readmission rate within 90 d (P < 0.05). Univariate analysis, multivariate analysis, and logistic regression showed that lesion diameter was an independent risk factor for the development of perioperative complications in patients who underwent laparoscopic excision of retrorectal cystic lesions.
CONCLUSION The diameter of the lesion is an independent risk factor for perioperative complications in patients who undergo laparoscopic excision of retrorectal cystic lesions. The location of the lesion was not a determining factor of the surgical approach. Laparoscopic surgery is minimally invasive, high-resolution, and flexible, and its use in retrorectal cystic lesions is safe and feasible, also for lesions below the S3 level.

Abstract
Sophorae Flavescentis Radix, the root of Sophora flavescens Ait., has been widely applied in the medical field due to its anti-inflammatory, analgesic, bacteriostatic, antiviral, antitumor, and other pharmacological effects. The present study investigated the anti-rheumatoid arthritis effect of oxymatrine(OMT), the active component of Sophorae Flavescentis Radix by observing its effect on the function of B lymphocytes in collagen-induced arthritis(CIA) mice through the Toll-like receptor 9(TLR9)/myeloid differentiation factor 88(MyD88)/signal transducer and activator of transcription 3(STAT3) pathway. The CIA model in DBA/1 J mice was induced by bovine type Ⅱ collagen and complete Freund's adjuvant(CFA). Fifteen days after the primary immunization, mice were treated with OMT for 30 days by intraperitoneal injection. Paw swelling and arthritis index(AI) score were evaluated every 3 days. Joint histopathologic changes were observed by HE staining. Magnetic-activated cell sorting(MACS) was used to isolate B lymphocytes from the spleen of CIA mice spleen. The serum expression level of interleukin(IL)-21 was examined by the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA). The expression of TLR9, STAT3, p-STAT3, and IL-21 in B lymphocytes was detected by Western blot. The mRNA expression of TLR9, STAT3, and IL-21 in B lymphocytes was detected by real-time fluorescence-based quantitative PCR(qRT-PCR). The results showed that OMT could significantly alleviate the paw swelling, decrease the AI score, relieve synovial inflammatory cell infiltration and hyperplasia, reduce the level of inflammatory cytokines, and inhibit the expression of TLR9, STAT3, p-STAT3, and IL-21 of B lymphocytes in CIA mice. Therefore, OMT may alleviate rheumatoid arthritis by regulating TLR9/MyD88/STAT3 pathway in B lymphocytes, providing a valuable reference for the application of OMT in the clinical treatment of rheumatoid arthritis.

Abstract
Objective This study aims to explore the value of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and texture analysis (TA) in the differential diagnosis of ovarian granulosa cell tumors (OGCTs) and thecoma-fibrothecoma (OTCA–FTCA). Methods The preoperative MRI data of 32 patients with OTCA–FTCA and 14 patients with OGCTs, confirmed by pathological examination between June 2013 and August 2020, were retrospectively analyzed. The texture data of three-dimensional MRI scans based on T2-weighted imaging and clinical and conventional MRI features were analyzed and compared between tumor types. The Mann–Whitney U-test, χ2 test/Fisher exact test, and multivariate logistic regression analysis were used to identify differences between the OTCA–FTCA and OGCTs groups. A regression model was established by using binary logistic regression analysis, and receiver operating characteristic curve analysis was carried out to evaluate diagnostic efficiency. Results A multivariate analysis of the imaging-based features combined with TA revealed that intratumoral hemorrhage (OR = 0.037), log-sigma-20mm-3D_glszm_SmallAreaEmphasis (OR = 4.40), and log-sigma-2-0mm-3D_glszm_SmallAreaHighGrayLevelEmphasis (OR = 1.034) were independent features for discriminating between OGCTs and OTCA–FTCA (P < 0.05). An imaging-based diagnosis model, TA-based model, and combination model were established. The areas under the curve of the three models in predicting OGCTs and OTCA–FTCA were 0.935, 0.944, and 0.969, respectively; the sensitivities were 93.75, 93.75, and 96.87%, respectively; and the specificities were 85.71, 92.86, and 92.86%, respectively. The DeLong test indicated that the combination model had the highest predictive efficiency (P < 0.05), with no significant difference among the three models in differentiating between OGCTs and OTCA–FTCA (P > 0.05). Conclusions Compared with OTCA–FTCA, intratumoral hemorrhage may be characteristic MR imaging features with OGCTs. Texture features can reflect the microheterogeneity of OGCTs and OTCA–FTCA. MRI signs and texture features can help differentiate between OGCTs and OTCA–FTCA and provide a more comprehensive and accurate basis for clinical treatment.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the relationship between dietary vitamin A intake and its sources in the first trimester and gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). Methods: A prospective study was conducted to select women at 6-14 weeks of gestation in an obstetric clinic of a maternal and child health care medical institution in Chengdu in 2017. The types and quantities of food during the first trimester were collected by 3-day 24-hour dietary recalls. Dietary vitamin A intake was calculated based on the Chinese Food Composition Table (2018), and it was divided into animal and plant vitamin A intakes according to its food sources. An oral glucose tolerance test was performed at 24-28 weeks of gestation to diagnose GDM according to the Chinese guidelines for diagnosis and treatment of gestational diabetes mellitus (2014). According to the estimated average requirement (EAR) and recommended nutrient intake (RNI), dietary vitamin A intake was divided into low-level group (<EAR), medium-level group (EAR-RNI) and high-level group (>RNI). Animal and plant vitamin A intakes were divided into four groups (Q1-Q4) according to the quartile method, respectively. The association between dietary vitamin A intake, its different sources of vitamin A intake and GDM in the first trimester was analyzed by log-binomial regression models. Results: A total of 1 298 valid samples were finally included. The average dietary vitamin A intake, animal and plant vitamin A intakes in the first trimester were 341.1 (227.8-501.0) μgRAE/d, 139.3 (69.6-195.3) μgRAE/d and 184.2 (99.4-301.1) μgRAE/d, respectively. After adjusting for confounding factors, log-binomial regression analysis showed that the risk of GDM in high-level group of dietary vitamin A intake was lower than that in low-level group [RR (95%CI):0.53 (0.36-0.80)]. Pregnant women in the highest quartile of animal vitamin A intake had a lower risk of GDM than those in the lowest quartile [RR (95%CI):0.66 (0.47-0.95)]. No relationship between plant vitamin A intake and GDM was found. Conclusion: Dietary vitamin A intake in the first trimester is associated with the occurrence of GDM, and higher intake than RNI may reduce the risk of GDM. Higher vitamin A intake from animal-derived food is associated with decreased risk of GDM.

Abstract
Objective: To describe and evaluate the surgical effect and prognosis of nasal endoscopic modified mucosal flap technique for repair of congenital choanal atresia in newborns and infants. Methods: The clinical data of 38 newborns and infants with congenital choanal atresia who underwent nasal endoscopic surgery in Beijing Children's Hospital between January 2016 and May 2018 were retrospectively analysed, including 13 males and 25 females. The age ranged from 5 days to 3 years old at the time of operation (15 cases were newborns). The clinical data, imaging data, treatment effect and prognosis were collected. According to the different surgical methods, the patients were divided into the conventional operation group and the modified mucosal flap technique group. The designs of the modified mucosal flap technique were designed according to the type of congenital choanal atresia. The cross-over L-shaped flaps were performed in patients with unilateral atresia, and the mirrored L-shaped flaps were performed in patients with bilateral atresia. All the patients were followed up for 2-3 years, and the follow-up parameters included the times of operations, length of hospital stay, restenosis rate and incidence of complications. Study data was analyzed using SAS version 9.4 statistical software. Results: Sixteen cases underwent conventional operation while 22 patients underwent modified mucosal flap technique under nasal endoscope. The lightest weight (2 200 g) and the youngest age (5 days) of the patients came from the modified mucosal flap technique group. Compared with the conventional operation group under nasal endoscope, the modified mucosal flap technique group had fewer times of operations (1.14±0.47 vs 2.69±1.20, t=5.552, P<0.001), shorter hospital stay ((7.70±3.22) d vs (14.37±19.16) d, t=2.960, P=0.005), lower rate of postoperative restenosis (9.1% vs 43.8%, χ²=6.156, P=0.013), and lower rate of the incidence of complications (13.6% vs 43.8%, χ²=5.955, P=0.015), the differences were statistically significant. Conclusion: The nasal endoscopic modified mucosal flap technique is feasible for repairing congenital choanal atresia in newborns and infants, which can significantly reduce the incidence of postoperative restenosis and complications.

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the clinical efficacy of the combined diagnosis and management in children with airway allergic diseases(bronchial asthma, allergic rhinitis). Methods: This observational study belongs to cluster sampling cases, which included the clinical data from children with airway allergic diseases in Allergy Department and Otorhinolaryngology Department of Beijing Children's Hospital from April to December in 2015. They were followed up every three months during 12 months. All the subjects were required to continuously record daily symptom by diary card. ACT/c-ACT, VAS, treatment steps to control asthma, respiratory infections, wheeze, pulmonary function(FEV1%pred,FEV1/FVC,PEF%pred,FEF25%pred,FEF50%pred,FEF75%pred,MMEF%pred), FeNO were assessed in every visiting. The mean±standard deviation was used for the measurement data in accordance with normal distribution. Comparing the pulmonary function indexes at every point, the measurement data with normal distribution and uniform variance were analyzed by single factor analysis of variance, and the measurement data with uneven variance were tested by non-parametric rank sum test. Results: Among 147 recruited participants, 106 completed the combined diagnosis and management. The airway allergic diseases control rate was 87.7% at 12 months after the combined diagnosis and management. At every point, the average daily symptom score and VAS score which were significantly lower than at the baseline(H=35.854,P=0.000)[ 1.2(0.7,2.2),0.6(0.2,1.5),0.4(0.1,1.0),0.5(0.1,1.1) vs 2.0(1.0,3.5)],(H=39.559,P=0.000)[2.5(0.5,4.7),2.2(0.3,4.4),1.8(0.2,4.6),1.6(0.3,3.8) vs 6.9(4.1,9.8)]. ACT/c-ACT score at 3, 6, 9, 12 months were significantly higher than at the baseline (H=79.695,P=0.000) [25.0(22.5,27.0),26.0(24.0,27.0),25.0(23.0,27.0),25.0(24.0,27.0) vs 20.0(17.0,22.0)]. FEV1%pred and FEF25%pred at 3, 6 months were significantly higher than at the baseline (F=3.563,P=0.007)(104.7±12.6 vs 96.8±14.5,103.0±10.3 vs 96.8±14.5),(F=2.456,P=0.046)(96.6±22.0 vs 85.0±21.9,93.3±18.0 vs 85.0±21.9). PEF%pred at 3, 6, 9, 12 months after the combined diagnosis and management were significantly higher than at the baseline(F=5.497,P=0.000)(105.1±18.1,101.2±15.3,99.7±17.1,99.8±17.5 vs 90.3±17.8). FeNO at 3, 6, 9, 12 months respectively were no significantly differences at the baseline(F=0.751,P=0.558)(25.7±23.6 vs 30.7±25.6,25.9±16.5 vs 30.7±25.6,27.5±20.2 vs 30.7±25.6,30.6±19.6 vs 30.7±25.6).The respiratory infections rate were 69.8%(74/106),67.0%(71/106),60.4%(64/106),51.9%(55/106) at 3, 6, 9, 12 months respectively. The wheezing rate was 24.5%(26/106),14.2%(15/106),11.3%(12/106),7.5%(8/106) at 3, 6, 9, 12 months respectively. Conclusions: The combined diagnosis and management can significantly improve the control level of children's airway allergic diseases, which should be implemented in the management of children's airway allergic diseases.

Abstract
Objective: To analyze the diversity, abundance and structural composition of intestinal microflora in patients with different severity of OSAHS, and to explore their potential role in the occurrence and development of OSAHS. Methods: A total of 27 healthy volunteers(N) [male 19, female 8, age 22-78(44.4±2.7)years old] of Health Examination Center of the Second Hospital of Shanxi Medical University and 100 patients with OSAHS [male 86, female 14, age 19-78(49.1±1.3) years old] of Sleep Medicine Center of the Second Hospital of Shanxi Medical University were enrolled from December 2018 to September 2019, and patient-related sleep monitoring data and medical history data were collected.According to the AHI classification and whether there were complications, OSAHS patients were divided into mild group (L), moderate group (M), severe group (S) and severe complication group (SC).Using 16S rRNA high-throughput sequencing technology to analyze the intestinal flora of all people, bioinformatics related statistics were analyzed by QIIME2 software, and clinical data were analyzed by SPSS 25.0 software. Results: There was no significant difference in intestinal flora Alpha and Beta diversity among all groups (P>0.05). At phylum level, the relative abundance of Bacteroides in OSAHS group was lower than that in normal group (N group: 24.96%, L group: 18.31%, M group: 12.95%, S group: 15.78%, Sc group: 16.48%). At genus level, the relative abundance of Bacteroides (N group:16.03%, L group: 10.82%, M group: 9.79%, S group: 9.29%, Sc group: 8.25%) and Faecalibacterium (N group: 11.21%, L group: 10.42%, M group: 10.21%, S group: 8.54%, Sc group: 6.27%) were negatively correlated with the severity of OSAHS (the values of r respectively were -0.887, -0.945) while the relative abundance of Bifidobacterium (N group: 3.20%, L group: 2.47%, M group: 4.10%, S group: 4.93%, Sc group: 6.27%) and Blautia (N group: 2.52%, L group: 3.59%, M group: 3.81%, S group: 4.11%, Sc group: 5.86%) were positively correlated with the severity of OSAHS (the values of r respectively were 0.916, 0.940) Compared with the S group, the relative abundance of Roseburia (S group: 10.22%, Sc group: 6.65%) in the Sc is lower and the relative abundance of Shigella(S group: 4.64%, Sc group: 10.01%) is higher. Redundancy analysis (RDA) showed that Apnea hypopnea index (AHI), The lowest oxygen saturation (SpO2min), The average saturation of blood oxygen (SpO2mean) and The longest time of apnea (Tmax) were not significantly correlated with the overall abundance of intestinal flora (P>0.05), However, there was a significant correlation between the abundance of different flora and sleep monitoring indicators. Conclusion: There is an intestinal microecological imbalance in patients with OSAHS, mainly due to the reduction of the relative abundance of probiotics producing short-chain fatty acids and the increase of pathogenic bacteria, suggesting that the disturbance of intestinal flora may be related to the occurrence and development of OSAHS.

Abstract
4D printing is inspired by embedded product designs to produce stimuli-responsive consumables fabricated by available commercial 3D printers. Although significant progress on smart material performance has been made and different studies have focused on new strategies and process improvements in typical additive manufacturing. Herein, the proposed review article discusses material arrangements for 4D printing, highlighting the structural evolvement mechanism, the behavior of deformation, and their prospective implementation with respect. Starting from a generalized idea, and fundamental workflow, together with a graphical manifestation of the 4D printing concept, and 4D printing for shape-memory materials (SMMs), self-fitting wearables based on shape memory alloys (SMAs) are reviewed exclusively. Furthermore, the capabilities of single and multiple materials mechanisms for shape-shifting behavior are summarized. Finally, we explored the future application potential under succeeding context: SMA-based knitted garments, transforming food, and relevant sectors wise development and proceedings with the advancement in smart materials. We determined our review by aiming our future directions such as the "dream it and make it feasible" technology. GRAPHICAL ABSTRACT

Abstract
Small cell lung cancer (SCLC), composing 15–20% of lung cancer, is a fatal disease with extremely poor prognosis. In the past two decades, etoposide platinum doublet chemotherapy remained the only choice of therapy, with disappointing overall survival ≤1 year for the metastatic disease. Novel treatments including immunotherapy are urgently needed and extensively explored. Recently, in two phase III trials, atezolizumab and durvalumab were shown to bring survival benefit to patients. While immunotherapy brings better outcome, it is accompanied by adverse events different from traditional treatments. Although these immune-related adverse events (irAEs) are generally mild and can be managed, some irAEs (myocarditis, pneumonitis) may be severe and even life-threatening. Accompanying with the increasing application of immunotherapy in clinical practice, the irAEs should not be overlooked. In this review, the irAEs profile in clinical trials of immunotherapy for SCLC will be summarized, also its unique features compared with irAEs in other malignancies will be explored. This review may be helpful for the appropriate clinical use of immunotherapy for SCLC.

Abstract
Rectal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is the preferred method for the diagnosis of rectal cancer as recommended by the guidelines. Rectal MRI can accurately evaluate the tumor location, tumor stage, invasion depth, extramural vascular invasion, and circumferential resection margin. We summarize the progress of research on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in rectal cancer in recent years. AI, represented by machine learning, is being increasingly used in the medical field. The application of AI models based on high-resolution MRI in rectal cancer has been increasingly reported. In addition to staging the diagnosis and localizing radiotherapy, an increasing number of studies have reported that AI models based on high-resolution MRI can be used to predict the response to chemotherapy and prognosis of patients.

Abstract
BoM was prone to multiple organs metastases and had more complex aberrations. BoM was associated with worse prognosis which cannot be salvaged by Osimertinib. BoM was an independent prognostic factor for EGFR-TKI treatment in PFS and OS.
Background Targeted therapy has been established as the standard-of-care for patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutations. Among patients with advanced lung cancer, 30–40% have bone metastases (BoM) at first diagnosis. However, little is known on the clinical characteristics and prognostic factors of BoM in patients with NSCLC harboring EGFR mutations. Methods Treatment-naive patients with advanced NSCLC harboring EGFR mutations who were prescribed tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) were screened and enrolled between June 2009 and April 2019 from West China Hospital. Patients were dichotomized according to whether they had BoM. The demographic characteristics, gene mutation status and therapeutic efficacy, including objective response rate (ORR), progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS), were collected. Results A cohort of 604 patients were enrolled. The BoM group had worse PFS (11.7 vs. 14.0 months, HR = 0.73, p = 0.00013) and OS (32.8 vs. 46.1 months, HR = 0.54, p < 0.0001) compared with the non-BoM group. No significant differences were observed in disease control rate (p = 0.407) or ORR (p = 0.537) between the two groups. The metastatic sites in the two groups exhibited obvious differences. In multivariate analysis, BoM was found to be an independent factor of worse prognosis. Conclusion BoM was identified as an independent inferior prognostic factor for EGFR-TKI treatment, and may have complex biological implications.

Abstract
Purpose Intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) can improve the prognosis of patients with esophageal cancer. This study aimed to evaluate clinical factors relevant to the prognosis of patients with esophageal cancer who received intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) alone. Patient and Methods Data of 103 patients with pathologically confirmed esophageal cancer who were admitted to our hospital between October 2011 and November 2017 were retrospectively reviewed. All patients had squamous cell carcinoma. All patients received IMRT. Patients with stage I–IVA tumors were included to represent the real-world clinical practice. We performed univariate and multivariate analyses to identify prognostic factors for overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS). In univariate analyses, the Kaplan–Meier method was used to estimate OS and PFS for various subgroups. In multivariate analyses, hazard ratios were calculated. Results Single-factor analysis revealed that T stage (P=0.019), N stage (P =0.047), and lesion length (P =0.000) were associated with the prognosis of esophageal cancer patients who received IMRT. Cox regression analysis revealed that T stage (odds ratio [OR] = 4.68; P < 0.05), N stage (OR = 0.28; P < 0.05), and lesion length (OR = 0.09; P < 0.05) were independent factors relevant to prognosis. Conclusion T stage, N stage, and lesion length influenced the long-term curative effects of IMRT for esophageal cancer and were prognostic factors for patients with esophageal cancer receiving definitive radiotherapy alone. The higher the stage and the longer the tumor, the lower the survival rate.

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the safety and efficacy of transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) with domestic prostheses in patients with severely stenotic bicuspid aortic valve (BAV). Methods: This study was a prospective single-center non-randomized controlled study. Patients with symptomatic severe aortic stenosis (AS), who underwent TAVR with domestic prostheses at the First Affiliated Hospital of Air Force Medical University from January 2016 to April 2020 were consecutively included in our study. Patients were divided into BAV group and tricuspid aortic valve (TAV) group according to the aortic valve morphology. Baseline characteristics, procedural outcomes were compared between the two groups, and the primary endpoint was one-month all-cause mortality. Results: A total of 100 patients aged (69.8±8.9) years were enrolled, including 71 (71%) males. There were 51 cases in BAV group and 49 cases in TAV group. Compared with TAV group, patient in the BAV group was younger ((67.1±8.6) years vs. (72.7±8.4) years, P=0.002) and had larger ascending aortic diameter at proximal part ((39.7±5.7) mm vs. (36.0±4.2) mm, P<0.001), lower Society of Thoracic Surgeons-Predicted Risk of Mortality (STS-PROM) score (3.1 (1.9, 5.4) % vs. 5.9 (2.6, 12.3) %, P=0.002). In BAV group and TAV group, the incidence of 2nd prosthesis implantation was 15.7% (8/51) and 18.4% (9/49) (P=0.721), the incidence of moderate or severe paravalvular regurgitation was 2.0% (1/51) and 0 (P=1.000), the rate of device success was 82.4% (42/51) and 81.6% (40/49) (P=0.925), respectively. One-month all-cause mortality was 2.0% (1/51) and 10.2% (5/49) (P=0.108), respectively. Echocardiography showed that postprocedural mean pressure gradient (PGmean) was higher in the BAV group (13.0 (10.0, 16.0) mmHg vs. 9.0 (7.0, 14.0) mmHg, P=0.003) (1 mmHg=0.133 kPa), but the PGmean decrease post procedure as compared with that before TAVR was similar between the two groups ((36.7±16.6) mmHg vs. (36.2±17.5) mmHg, P=0.893). Conclusion: Favorable safety and efficacy are evidenced in patients with severely stenotic BAV undergoing TAVR with domestic prostheses.

Abstract
Hepatic ischemia reperfusion injury (HIRI) is an important cause of liver dysfunction after liver transplantation for the patients suffered from fatty liver, non-alcoholic cirrhosis, or liver cancer. It is closely related to liver cells apoptosis. Therefore, how to maintain the stable state of cell apoptosis is important to protect the liver from HIRI. Drug treatment basically applies some active substances directly or indirectly, reducing HIRI. But their toxic side effects limit the clinical applications. Differently, non-drug treatment means making use of other kinds of measures to reduce the damage, such as non-pharmaceutical preparations, surgical methods, inhalation or perfusion gas, and so on. Non-drug treatments have been shown to balance cell apoptosis and reduce liver damage during HIRI. This review summarized the progresses in the roles of non-drug treatments on liver cells apoptosis during HIRI in recent years, focusing on apoptosis inducing factors, its signal transduction pathway, and downstream molecules, etc., expecting to elucidate non-drug treatments of anti-HIRI more systematically.

Abstract
Background The seroconversion of the hepatitis B antigen is the ideal outcome for long-acting interferon-pegylated interferon-α (Peg-IFN-α) treatment among patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB). B-cell response plays an important role in the process of hepatitis B antigen clearance, but the specific mechanism by which B-cell improve hepatitis B virus (HBV) is still unclear. Methods A total of 103 CHB patients participated in this study. The patients received 24 weeks of Peg-IFN-α treatment. Flow cytometry was used to detect B-cell surface markers’ cluster of differentiation cluster of differentiation CD19, CD24, and CD27 in the peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) of CHB patients before and after 24 weeks of Peg-IFN-α treatment. Results After 24 weeks of Peg-IFN-α treatment, the content of memory B cells (CD19+CD27+) and effector B cells (CD19+CD38+) increased significantly. Further analysis showed that the clearance of the hepatitis B antigen was correlated with the change value, ΔT, of plasma cells before and after treatment. The B-cell subsets (CD19+CD24+; CD19+CD40+; CD19+CD40+; CD19+CD80+), was also tested and the results showed that CD19+CD24+ and CD19+CD80+ content also increased significantly after treatment. Conclusions After Peg-IFN-α treatment, the B-cell subsets of CHB patients are remodeled. Thus, Peg-IFN-α treatment appears to play an important role in the remodeling of B cell subsets and the clearance of HBV antigens. The results of this study provide a theoretical basis and guidance for the clinical treatment of CHB.

Abstract
Esophageal spindle cell carcinoma (ESpCC) is a rare subtype of esophageal carcinoma, accounting for 1% of all esophageal malignancies. The clinical outcome is unknown due to the lack of treatment options. Here, we present the case of a 60‐year‐old male with initially unresectable ESpCC, in which platinum‐based concurrent chemoradiotherapy was unsuccessful. He was subsequently treated with neoadjuvant immunotherapy and after surgery achieved a complete pathological response; therefore, neoadjuvant immunotherapy might be a novel option for ESpCC patients.

Abstract
Background Lymphoepithelioma-like carcinoma (LELC) is a rare malignant tumor of the lung. It is related to EB virus infection. Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) are rarely found in this disease, while high level programmed cell death ligand 1 (PD-L1) expression is observed. Here a series of patients with advanced LELC treated with immunotherapy were summarized. Methods This retrospective, observational study was conducted in patients who were pathologically confirmed, metastatic or recurrent LELC patients. Patients were prescribed with either chemotherapy or immunotherapy, according to treating physicians’ discretion. Results A total of 27 patients were included in our study, 10 with immunotherapy (ICI group) and 17 with chemotherapy (Chemo group). The objective response rates (ORR) of the two groups were 80.0% and 70.5% (p=0.678), and disease control rates (DCR) were 100% and 88.2% (p=0.516). However, the response depth was better in the ICI group. Although the cohort of patients in the ICI group was in a disadvantageous state (both up-front and salvage), the progression-free survival (PFS) was much longer (15.0 and 7.9 m, p=0.005). The 1-year PFS rate in the ICI group was also much higher (40% and 5.9%, p=0.047). Conclusion This study implicated the high efficiency of ICI therapy in this disease.

Abstract
Objective: To summarize clinical features and our experience of the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric nasal neuroglial heterotopia (NGH). Methods: Clinical data of 13 nasal NGH patients in Beijing Children's Hospital from August 2014 to October 2019 were retrospectively reviewed, including 9 boys and 4 girls, aged from 1 to 38 months with median age of 5 months. Radiological workups and excision of nasal NGH under general anesthesia were performed for all patients. B ultra-sound and MRI were performed for all external and mixed lesions, while ultra-low-dose CT scan and MRI for all intranasal type. Surgical approaches were dependent on location and extent of the lesions according to radiographic workup, including extranasal or transnasal endoscopic approach. Patients were followed up regularly after operation to evaluate the effect. Initial presentation, locations, imaging findings, surgical approaches and follow-up results were analyzed through descriptive statistical method. Results: Eight nasal NGH patients presented with an internal nasal mass and nasal obstruction, which belonged to intranasal type. Three patients presented with an external nasal mass which belonged to extranasal type and 2 patients had mixed lesions. The sites included nasal dorsum (n=5), anterior to the middle turbinate (n=5) and olfactory cleft (n=3). Surgical resections were done through median rhinotomy approach (n=5) or transnasal endoscopic approach (n=8). All the operations were successful and no complication occurred. All cases were followed up from 3 to 65 months. No recurrence was encountered. Conclusions: Nasal NGH is a rare lesion with atypical clinical presentation. Preoperative imaging including CT scan and MRI is essential for evaluation of the location, extent of the disease and for making the surgical plan. Treatment requires complete surgical excision.

Abstract
Background Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutations are more frequently seen in miliary intrapulmonary metastases than EGFR wild-type non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Also, small-scale retrospective studies showed that patients harboring EGFR mutation with miliary pulmonary metastases had a worse prognosis. This study aimed to explore the impact of imaging patterns on the outcomes of EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) treatment. Methods A cohort of treatment-naive NSCLC patients harboring EGFR mutation with intrapulmonary metastases who were prescribed with TKI were enrolled. The demographic feature, clinical outcome, and CT imaging of each patient were reviewed and analyzed. Results A cohort of 174 patients were enrolled. Five intrapulmonary patterns of imaging were recognized: solid nodular, ground-glass nodular, miliary, multiple uniform nodular, and not otherwise specified. Among them, miliary and multiple uniform nodular patterns had similar poor prognosis, and, therefore, were combined as diffuse group. A worse PFS (9.0 mon, 95% CI: 8.0–10.0 mon) was observed compared with the rest (non-diffuse group, 13.3 mon, 95% CI: 10.2–16.4 mon, p<0.001, HR=0.49). The objective response rates (ORR) between the two groups were 76.8% and 84.1%, respectively, with no significant difference (p = 0.474). The OS of the diffuse and the non-diffuse group were 25.6 mon (95% CI 21.9–29.3 mon) and 35.0 mon (95% CI: 27.5–42.5, p = 0.01, HR= 0.59). Organs like bone (p=0.167), liver (p=0.513), and adrenal gland (p=0.375) were involved in similar frequencies in both groups. However, brain (p=0.070) and leptomeningeal (p=0.078) metastases were less common in the non-diffuse group with marginally statistical significance. The 2 groups contained similar missense mutations, and gene amplification was more common in the non-diffuse group. Conclusion Patients with diffuse intrapulmonary metastases had inferior outcomes after TKI treatment. More aggressive treatments might be warranted for these patients.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This study aimed to investigate the dynamic changes of serum HBV DNA and hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) titers apportioned by the same hepatic parenchyma cell volume (HPCV) at different liver histological inflammation grades in the natural history of chronic hepatitis B (CHB). METHODS The serum HBV DNA and HBsAg titers were detected by real-time polymerase chain reaction and electrochemiluminescence, separately, in CHB patients without any treatment. The serum HBV DNA levels and HBsAg titers apportioned by the same HPCV were figured out based on sphere geometry theory. In addition, the differences of HBV DNA levels and HBsAg titers apportioned by the same HPCV in different liver inflammation grades were further assessed based on statistical analysis. RESULTS There was no difference of serum HBV DNA levels or HBsAg titers before apportioned by the same HPCV in liver inflammation grades 1-4, but significant differences were observed after apportion in CHB patients (HBV DNA: P=0.101; HBsAg: P=0.211 & HBV DNA apportioned by HPCV: P<0.001; HBsAg apportioned by HPCV: P<0.001). No correlation was observed between HBV DNA levels and liver inflammation grades (r=0.083, P=0.186), or between HBsAg titers and liver inflammation grades (r=0.083, P=0.078). A significant correlation was observed between HBV DNA levels apportioned by HPCV and liver inflammation grades (r=0.249, P<0.001), and obvious correlation of HBsAg titers apportioned by HPCV and liver inflammation grades was also found in CHB patients (r=0.554, P<0.001). CONCLUSIONS These results suggest that the levels of serum HBV DNA and HBsAg apportioned by the same HPCV are correlated with the severity of liver histological inflammation grade in the natural history of CHB.

Abstract
In order to observe the anti-tumor effect of cinobufotalin on H22 liver cancer mice and to explore its regulatory mechanism, 50 Kunming mice were subcutaneously inoculated with H22 intraperitoneal passage cells under the armpit to establish H22 hepatocellular carcinoma model. They were then randomly divided into model group, cinobufotalin low dose group, cinobufotalin high dose group, cisplatin group and cisplatin+cinobufotalin group, which received 0.01% ethanol solution, 1 mg·kg~(-1) cinobufotalin, 5 mg·kg~(-1) cinobufotalin, 5 mg·kg~(-1) cisplatin, 5 mg·kg~(-1)cisplatin + 5 mg·kg~(-1) cinobufotalin respectively for 10 days. The general condition of mice during the intervention was observed, and the inhibition rate, tumor mass, thymus index, histopathological changes of the tumors, apoptotic rate of the tumors, the expressions of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase(PI3 K), protein kinase B(Akt), apoptosis related gene(Fas), Fas ligand(FasL) mRNA and protein phosphorylated Akt(pAkt) protein in the tumors of each group were compared. The results showed that during the modeling period, the mice showed a decline in food intake, dark fur, poor mental status, and gradually worsened over time. The mental status of mice in each intervention group was improved gradually, especially in the cisplatin+cinobufotalin group. As compared with the model group, the tumor mass of each intervention group was lower(P<0.05). As compared with the cinobufotalin low dose group, the tumor mass was lower and inhibition rate was higher in the cinobufotalin high dose group, cisplatin group and cisplatin+cinobufotalin group(P<0.05). As compared with the cinobufotalin high dose group and the cisplatin group, the tumor mass was lower and the inhibition rate was higher in cisplatin+cinobufotalin group(P<0.05). As compared with the model group, the thymus index was higher in cinobufotalin high dose group and cisplatin + cinobufotalin group, while was lower in cisplatin group(P<0.05). As compared with the cinobufotalin low dose group, the thymus index was higher in the cinobufotalin high dose group and lower in the cisplatin group(P<0.05). As compared with the cinobufotalin high dose group, the thymus index was lower in cisplatin group(P<0.05). As compared with cisplatin group, the thymus index was higher in cisplatin+cinobufotalin group(P<0.05). Pathological staining showed that a large number of heterogeneous cells and mitotic phenomena were observed in the model group. Cell fragments and neutrophils were observed in the tumor tissues of the intervention groups, showing diffuse necrosis, and the diffuse necrosis was more obvious in the cisplatin+cinobufotalin group. As compared with the model group, the apoptotic rate of the tumors and the relative expressions of Fas mRNA and protein were higher in the intervention groups, while the relative expressions of PI3 K, FasL mRNA and protein and the relative expression of pAkt protein were lower in the intervention groups(P<0.05). As compared with the cinobufotalin low dose group, the apoptotic rate of the tumors and relative expression of Fas and protein were higher in the cinobufotalin high dose group, cisplatin group and cisplatin+cinobufotalin group, while the relative expressions of PI3 K, FasL mRNA and protein and pAkt protein were lower(P<0.05). As compared with the cinobufotalin high dose group and the cisplatin group, apoptotic rate of the tumors and the relative expression of Fas mRNA and protein were higher in the cisplatin+cinobufotalin group, while the relative expressions of PI3 K, FasL mRNA and protein and pAkt protein were lower in the cisplatin+cinobufotalin group(P<0.05). In summary, cinobufotalin has significant anti-tumor effect on H22 liver cancer mice, and can enhance the immune function of mice and synergistically enhance the effect of chemotherapy. Its mechanism may be associated with regulating PI3 K/Akt/Fas/FasL signaling pathway related genes and protein expression.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the surgical effect and experience of endoscope-assisted excision for congenital nasal dermoid and sinus cyst (NDSC) in children. Methods: Fifty-three patients with congenital NDSC treated in Beijing Children's Hospital from January 2007 to December 2018 were retrospectively reviewed, including 30 boys and 23 girls, with the age ranging from 9 to 145 months (mean age 35.6 months). The ultra-low-dose CT scan and MRI of the paranasal sinuses were performed for all patients. Excisions of NDSC under general anesthesia were performed for all patients, and surgical approaches were dependent on location and extent of the lesions according to radiographic workups. All intra-osseous patients and complicated superficial cases underwent surgical excision of NDSC and nasal reconstruction with the assistance of endoscope. Initial presentation, medical history, imaging workups, surgical approaches, complications, rates of recurrence and cosmetic outcomes were evaluated. Descriptive statistics was used for the results analysis. Results: Among 53 cases, the most common presentation included a nasal-glabella mass (n=21, 39.6%), a dorsal punctum (n=13, 24.5%) and a dorsal mass (n=9, 17.0%). The sites of NDSC included nasal glabella (n=22, 41.5%), nasal bridge (n=27, 50.9%) and nasal tip (n=4, 7.5%). Of all patients, 24 cases (45.3%) had superficial lesions, 19 cases (35.8%) had intraosseous extension into the frontonasal bones, 10 cases (18.9%) extended intracranially but remained extradural. Surgical approaches included transverse incision (n=22, 41.5%), minimal midline vertical incision (n=27, 50.9%) and external rhinoplasty (n=4, 7.5%). All NDSC were successfully excised and no nasal reconstruction needed. All cases were followed up from 9 to 151 months with a mean of 67.3 months. Five patients (9.4%) with recurrence were observed and were managed successfully with reoperation. During the follow-up, no nasal deformity was noted, and cosmetic outcome was favorable for all patients. Conclusion: Endoscope-assisted excision has the advantage of clear vision, small trama and low recurrence rate for children with NDSC.

Abstract
Background: Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is the most malignant type of lung cancer characterized by rapid progression, early metastasis and recurrence. In recent years, circulating tumor cells (CTCs) were found to play an important role in tumor invasion, metastasis, recurrence and prognosis. Methods: CTCs were detected in 138 patients with newly diagnosed SCLC from January 2012 to December 2018. Nomogram prediction models were constructed based on prognostic factors screened by multivariate Cox regression analysis and the risk stratification of SCLC patients were performed on basis of nomogram points. A total of 108 patients from January 2012 to December 2016 were assigned to a training group, and 30 patients from January 2017 to December 2018 were included into the validation group for nomogram analysis. This study was approved by ethics committee of Guangzhou First People's Hospital and all subjects provided informed consent. Results: The number of CTCs was associated with age, lymph node metastasis (N), distant metastasis (M), TNM staging, and NSE. The high number of CTC predicted adverse prognosis, and the AUC of time-dependent ROC curve was all high than 0.5. In the training group, after multivariate COX regression screening, the factors in the median survival time (MST) and overall survival (OS) nomogram prediction models were age, TNM, CTC, NSE and treatment mode. The C-index of the nomograms in internal validation for MST and OS was 0.813 and in external validation for MST and OS were 0.885. The AUC of ROC curves for nomogram were high than 0.5. Finally, risk stratification could be effectively performed on the basis of nomogram points. Conclusions: CTC can be served as a predictive and prognostic factor for SCLC, and the nomogram models constructed by CTC and multiple clinical parameters can comprehensively predict the prognosis of SCLC patients and perform risk stratification.

Abstract
Lymphoma is a malignant disease of the hematopoietic system that typically affects B cells. The up-regulation of miR-148b is associated with radiosensitization in B-cell lymphoma (BCL). This study aimed to explore the role of miR-148b in regulating the radiosensitivity of BCL cells and to investigate the underlying mechanism. miR-148b directly targeted Bcl-w, decreased the cell viability and colony formation, while promoted apoptosis, in irradiated BCL cells. These changes were accompanied by decreased mitochondrial membrane potential, release of cytochrome C, increased levels of the cleaved caspase 9 and caspase 3, and increased expression of other proteins related to the mitochondrial apoptosis pathway. These effects of miR-148b were effectively inhibited by Bcl-w. In addition, miR-148b inhibited the growth of tumors in nude mice implanted with xenografts of irradiated Raji cells. In patients with BCL, levels of miR-148b were downregulated, while levels of Bcl-w were upregulated; a significant negative correlation between levels of miR-148b and Bcl-w was confirmed. Taken together, these experiments showed that miR-148b promoted radiation-induced apoptosis in BCL cells by targeting anti-apoptotic Bcl-w. miR-148b might be used as a marker to predict the radiosensitivity of BCL.

Abstract
Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a devastating disease with high mortality and morbidity, and the underlying mechanisms of miR-19a in CRC are poorly understood. In our study, dual-luciferase reporter assays were used to evaluate the binding of miR-19a with thrombospondin-1 (THBS1). Cell viability, migration, and invasiveness were assessed using MTT, wound healing, and Transwell assays, respectively. Tube-formation assays with human lymphatic endothelial cells (HLECs) were used to evaluate lymphangiogenesis, and tumor xenograft assays were used to measure tumor growth. The results showed that miR-19a was up-regulated and THBS1 was down-regulated in CRC tissues and cells. Applying an inhibitor of miR-19a suppressed survival, migration, and invasiveness, and inhibited the expression of matrix metallopeptidase 9 (MMP-9) and vascular endothelial growth factor C (VEGFC). Further mechanistic study identified that THBS1 is a direct target of miR-19a. THBS1 silencing attenuated the above-mentioned suppressive effects induced with the miR-19a inhibitor. Furthermore, the miR-19a inhibitor suppressed the migration and tube-formation abilities of HLECs via targeting the THBS1–MMP-9/VEGFC signaling pathway. And the inhibition of miR-19a also suppressed tumor growth and lymphatic tube formation in vivo. In conclusion, miR-19a inhibition suppresses the viability, migration, and invasiveness of CRC cells, and suppresses the migration and tube-formation abilities of HLECs, and further, inhibits tumor growth and lymphatic tube formation in vivo via targeting THBS1.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To study the impact of atypical protein kinase Cι (PKCι) isoform PKC on the pancreatic cancer cells towards the tumoricidal effect of cytokine-induced killer (CIK) cells and explore its mechanisms. METHODS CIK cells were prepared by inducing mononuclear cells isolated from the peripheral blood of healthy people with interleukin-2 (IL-2), interferon (IFN) and CD3 mAb and subsequently co-cultured with pancreatic epithelial cell HPDE6-C7, pancreatic cancer cells MiaPaCa and PANC-1 with or without PKC inhibitor named sodium thiomalate (ATM). All cells were divided into control group, ATM group, co-culture group with CIK and co-culture group with CIK+ATM. Cell count was used to detect the growth of each group from 1 to 8 d. Flow cytometry was used to detect the death rate of the cell lines after 48 h cell culture in each group. The small hairpin RNA (shRNA) was used for PKCι knockdown and the recombinant plasmid transfection was for PKCι overexpression in pancreatic cancer cells. Western blot and real-time fluorescent quantitative PCR (qRT-PCR) were utilized to determine the expression of PKCι protein and the impact on gene expression of transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β), a downstream effector modulated by PKC. Different mass concentrations of TGF-β (1, 10, 20 ng/mL) were added into the co-culture of MiaPaCa and PANC-1 with CIK. The cell death rate was detected by flow cytometry 48 h later, so as to explore the possible mechanisms of the impact of PKCι on the tumoricidal effects of CIK cells. RESULTS ATM and CIK were shown to suppress the growth and induce apoptosis or death of pancreatic cancer cells, meanwhile, ATM can enhance the tumoricidal effect of CIK on pancreatic cancer cells. Moreover, we found that PKCι knockdown in pancreatic cancer cells can down-regulate the gene expression of TGF-β. In return, PKCι overexpression in pancreatic cancer cells can increase the gene expression of TGF-β. The death rate of cancer cells with 10, 20 ng/mL TGF-β was lower compared with the control group (P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS PKCι knockdown in pancreatic cancer cells can not only inhibit the growth of pancreatic cancer cells, but also enhance the tumoricidal effects of CIK on cancer cells. The possible mechanism of PKCι is to affect the immune escape of tumor cells by regulating the expression of TGF-β.

Abstract
Altering Cd chemical form is one of the mechanisms to alleviate Cd toxicity in rice plant. Field experiments were carried out in this study to investigate the potential of rice vegetative organs in altering Cd into insoluble chemical forms in the natural environment. Experimental results showed that more than 80% of Cd in rice roots existed in the insoluble forms. Uppermost nodes altered Cd into insoluble form preferentially and generally had higher content of insoluble Cd than other organs. Rachises displayed a slow increasing trend in soluble Cd when total Cd in roots was less than 1.8 mg kg-1. However, when Cd content in roots exceeded 2.8 mg kg-1, the ratio of insoluble to soluble Cd remained stable at 85:15 in rachises and roots, and at 75:25 in uppermost nodes and flag leaves. Cd concentration in grains was greatly lower than that in vegetative organs, and closely correlated with the content of soluble Cd in rachises (r = 0.991**) as well as in uppermost nodes. Soluble Cd in the uppermost nodes displayed a much lower mobility than that in other organs. Accumulation of soluble Cd was always companied by decrease of Ca and increase of Mn in roots, uppermost nodes and rachises. A small increase of soluble Cd from 0.05 to 0.1 mg kg-1 caused a sharp decline of Ca:Mn ratio in roots and rachises. Roots and nodes had much higher Ca:Mn ratio than rachises when soluble Cd was less than 0.5 mg kg-1 in them. These results indicate that vegetative organs have a great potential to alter more than 75% Cd into insoluble forms and increasing Ca:Mn ratio may be another way to alleviate Cd toxicity by establishing new ionic homeostasis in rice plants.

Abstract
Six new triterpenoids, pseudolarins A-F (1-6), were isolated from the twigs of Pseudolarix amabilis, together with four known triterpenoids (7-10) and five known diterpenoids (11-15). Their structures were determined by extensive spectroscopic analysis, and the absolute configuration of 1 was assigned by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Compound 1 is a 3,4:9,10-diseco-cycloartane triterpenoid possessing an unprecedented 5/5/7/6/5/6/5 ring system. Compounds 1, 5, 7, 9-11, and 13 showed inhibition against protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTP1B) in vitro.
