Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study aimed to evaluate the outcomes of coil-assisted ethanol embolotherapy in recanalized head and neck arteriovenous malformations (HNAVMs) with dilated outflowing veins after Onyx treatment. METHODS Thirty-six patients with HNAVMs (18 females and 18 males with a mean age of 26.83 years) who experienced recurrence after Onyx embolization from October 2007 to October 2017 were included in this study. All patients underwent complete clinical and angiographic examinations. Further, each patient was classified based on the Schobinger stage before undergoing staged ethanol embolization. All patients were followed up for 5 years in-person at an interval of 3 months after discharge. The Kaplan-Meier method was used to perform the recurrence-free survival analysis. RESULTS Sixteen patients (44.4%) had Schobinger stage II HNAVMs, and the remaining patients had Schobinger stage III or IV (20/36 patients [55.6%]) HNAVMs. A total of 116 embolization procedures were performed, coils were applied in 107 procedures (92.2%) among patients with dilated outflowing veins. The dose of absolute ethanol was 16.39 mL per procedure in patients with Schobinger II HNAVMs, and 22.45 mL per procedure in patients with Schobinger III and IV HNAVMs (P = .024, 95% confidence interval, 1.128-5.009). During the 3-month evaluation, complete response was observed in 13 of 36 patients (36.1%), and partial response was observed in 23 of 36 patients (63.9%). The 5-year recurrence-free survival rate for patients who underwent Onyx treatment had improved 58.3% after ethanol embolization (95% confidence interval, 2.853-9.595; P < .0001). CONCLUSIONS Coil-assisted ethanol embolotherapy could treat refractory HNAVMs with Onyx recrudescence effectively.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Accurate segmentation of unruptured cerebral aneurysms (UCAs) is essential to treatment planning and rupture risk assessment. Currently, three-dimensional time-of-flight magnetic resonance angiography (3D TOF-MRA) has been the most commonly used method for screening aneurysms due to its noninvasiveness. The methods based on deep learning technologies can assist radiologists in achieving accurate and reliable analysis of the size and shape of aneurysms, which may be helpful in rupture risk prediction models. However, the existing methods did not accomplish accurate segmentation of cerebral aneurysms in 3D TOF-MRA. METHODS This paper proposed a CCDU-Net for segmenting UCAs of 3D TOF-MRA images. The CCDU-Net was a cascade of a convolutional neural network for coarse segmentation and the proposed DU-Net for fine segmentation. Especially, the dual-channel inputs of DU-Net were composed of the vessel image and its contour image which can augment the vascular morphological information. Furthermore, a newly designed weighted loss function was used in the training process of DU-Net to promote the segmentation performance. RESULTS A total of 270 patients with UCAs were enrolled in this study. The images were divided into the training (N = 174), validation (N = 43), and testing (N = 53) cohorts. The CCDU-Net achieved a dice similarity coefficient (DSC) of 0.616 ± 0.167, Hausdorff distance (HD) of 5.686 ± 7.020 mm, and volumetric similarity (VS) of 0.752 ± 0.226 in the testing cohort. Compared with the existing best method, the DSC and VS increased by 18% and 5%, respectively, while the HD decreased by one-tenth. CONCLUSIONS We proposed a CCDU-Net for segmenting UCAs in 3D TOF-MRA, and the obtained results show that the proposed method outperformed other existing methods.

Abstract
Qira black sheep is a famous indigenous sheep breed in China. The objectives of this study are to identify candidate genes related to body size, and to estimate the level of inbreeding depression on body size based on runs of homozygosity in Qira black sheep. Here, 188 adult Qira black sheep were genotyped with a high density (630 K) SNP chip and genome-wide association study for body weight and body size traits (including withers height, body slanting length, tail length, chest girth, chest width, and chest depth) were performed using an additive linear model. In consequence, 12 genome- and chromosome-wide significant SNPs and, accordingly, six candidate genes involved in muscle differentiation, metabolism and cell processes were identified. Of them, ZNF704 (zinc finger protein 704) was identified for body weight; AK2 (adenylate kinase 2) and PARK2 (parkin RBR E3 ubiquitin protein ligase) for tail length; MOCOS (molybdenum cofactor sulfurase) and ELP2 (elongator acetyltransferase complex subunit 2) for chest width; and MFAP1 (microfibril associated protein 1) for chest girth. Additionally, inbreeding depressions on body size were observed in the current herd. These results will provide insightful understandings into the genetic mechanisms of adult body size, and into the conservation and utilization of Qira black sheep.

Abstract
Litter size is one of the most important reproductive traits of sheep, which has pronounced effects on the profit of husbandry enterprises and enthusiasm of breeders. Despite the importance of litter size, the underlying genetic mechanisms have not been entirely elucidated. Therefore, based on a high-density SNP chip, genome-wide comparative analysis was performed between two groups with different fecundity to reveal candidate genes linked to litter size via detection of homozygosity and selection signatures in Luzhong mutton sheep. Consequently, nine promising genes were identified from six runs of homozygosity islands, and functionally linked to reproduction (ACTL7A, ACTL7B, and ELP1), embryonic development (KLF5 and PIBF1), and cell cycle (DACH1, BORA, DIS3, and MZT1). A total of 128 genes were observed under selection, of which HECW1 and HTR1E were related to total lambs born, GABRG3, LRP1B, and MACROD2 to teat number, and AGBL1 to reproductive seasonality. Additionally, the presence of inbreeding depression implies the urgency of reasonable mating system to increase litter size in the present herd. These findings provide a comprehensive insight to the genetic makeup of litter size, and also contribute to implementation of marker-assisted selection in sheep.

Abstract
ObjectiveThis study aimed to compare the hemodynamic differences among no sac (NOS), porous media (POM) and finite element analysis (FEA) models to investigate the recurrence-related risks for coiled intracranial aneurysms (IAs).MethodsThe study enrolled 10 patients with 11 IAs who received simple coiling treatment and hemodynamic simulations were performed for all IAs using the above three models. Velocity, wall shear stress (WSS) and residual flow volume (RFV) were calculated and compared in order to assess the model differences for both aneurysm sac and parent vessel regions.ResultsFor parent artery regions, all three models produced similar flow patterns and quantification analysis did not indicate differences in velocity and WSS (p>0.05). For aneurysm sac regions, the FEA model resulted in higher sac-maximized (0.18 m/s vs 0.06 m/s) and sac-averaged velocity (0.013 m/s vs 0.007 m/s), and higher sac-averaged (0.55 Pa vs 0.36 Pa, p=0.006) and sac-maximized WSS (12.1 Pa vs 6.6 Pa) than the POM model. The differences in RFV between the POM and FEA models under 11 different isovelocity thresholds (0.0001 m/s, 0.001 m/s, 0.002 m/s, 0.005 m/s, 0.01 m/s, 0.02 m/s, 0.05 m/s, 0.1 m/s, 0.2 m/s, 0.5 m/s, and 1 m/s) showed that the POM RFV was generally larger than those of the FEA model.ConclusionsCompared with the FEA model, the POM model provides a lower velocity and WSS and higher RFV for the aneurysm sac, which could lead to incorrect estimates of the recurrent risk of coiled IAs under high packing density.

Abstract
To evaluate whether the efficacy and safety of embolization of the aneurysmal neck were better than those of embolization of the entire aneurysm. Previous studies found that embolization of the aneurysmal neck can be used for treating ruptured intracranial aneurysm with bleb formation.In all, 163 patients with ruptured aneurysms with bleb formation who underwent endovascular embolization at the Shanghai Municipal Jing'an District Central Hospital from January 2014 to August 2015 were divided into the embolization of aneurysmal neck group (neck group; 87 cases) and embolization of entire aneurysm group (aneurysm group; 76 cases). A retrospective analysis of clinical data, follow-up Glasgow Outcome Scale (GOS) score, and occurrence of complications was performed. The impacts of different embolisms on the prognosis were compared.The median follow-up time in the neck and aneurysm groups was 17 months (9.62) and 16.5 months (9.54), respectively (P = .799). No differences were found in recurrence, postoperative GOS score, and GOS score at the last follow-up between the 2 groups. The numbers of coils and surgical complications in the neck group were smaller than those in the aneurysm group (P < .001 and P < .030, respectively). After adjusting for age and sex, the embolization method was found to be an independent predictor for surgery-related complications (odds ratio 2.419, 95% confidence interval 1.111-5.269, P = .026).The numbers of coils and surgery-related complications were smaller when embolizing the aneurysmal neck than the entire aneurysm, showing potential advantages of embolization of the aneurysmal neck.

Abstract
The cost of developing replacement nanny goats could be reduced by decreasing the age at puberty because this way nanny goats could be brought into production at an earlier age. The aim of the present study was to screen genes related to puberty to investigate the molecular mechanisms of puberty. Subtracted cDNA libraries were constructed for hypothalami from juvenile (Group A), pubertal (Group B) and age-matched control pubertal (Group E) Jining grey (JG) and Liaoning cashmere (LC) goats using suppression subtractive hybridisation (SSH). Differentially expressed genes were analysed by bioinformatics methods. There were 203 expressed sequence tags (ESTs) in the subtracted cDNA libraries that were differentially expressed between JG and LC goats at the juvenile stage, 226 that were differentially expressed at puberty and 183 that were differentially expressed in the age-matched control group. The differentially expressed ESTs in each subtracted cDNA library were classified as known gene, known EST and unknown EST according to sequence homology in the GenBank non-redundant (NR) and EST database. According to gene function analysis in the COG (Cluster of Orthologous Groups) database, the known genes were grouped into 10 subdivisions in Group A, into seven subdivisions in Group E and into nine subdivisions in Group B under three categories: cellular processes and signalling, information storage and processing, and metabolism. Pathway analysis in the KEGG (Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes) pathway database of known genes revealed that the three pathways that most differentially expressed genes were involved in were metabolic pathways, Parkinson's disease and oxidative phosphorylation. Protein interaction analysis of the high homology genes revealed the most dominant network to be structure of ribosome/protein translation, oxidative phosphorylation and carbohydrate metabolism. The results reveal that the onset of puberty is a complex event involving multiple genes in multiple biological processes. The differentially expressed genes include genes related to both neuroendocrine and energy metabolism.

Abstract
Seven pairs of primers were designed to amplify 5' promoter region, six exons and partial introns and to detect the polymorphisms of POU1F1 gene in five goat breeds with different prolificacy. The results showed that six mutations were identified in caprine POU1F1 gene including C256T in exon 3, C53T and T123G in intron 3, and G682T (A228S), T723G and C837T in exon 6. The former four mutations were novel SNPs in goat POU1F1 gene. The 53 and 123 loci were in complete linkage disequilibrium in five caprine breeds. Regarding the 256 locus, the Jining Grey goat does with genotype CT had 0.66 kids more than those with genotype CC (P < 0.05), while does with genotype GT had 0.63 (P < 0.05) kids more than those with genotype GG at the 682 locus. The present study preliminarily showed an association between allele T at the 256 and 682 loci of POU1F1 gene and high litter size in Jining Grey goats. Totally 16 haplotypes and 50 genotypes were identified at the above six loci in POU1F1 gene of five goat breeds. Three common haplotypes (hap2, hap3 and hap4) were identified in five goat breeds joined. Four specific haplotypes (hap7, hap9, hap11 and hap13) were detected in Jining Grey goats. The predominant haplotype was hap1 (35.29% and 48.25%) in both Jining Grey and Guizhou White goats, while hap4 (50%) in Boer goats, and hap2 (42.86% and 38.75%) in both Wendeng Dairy and Liaoning Cashmere goats. The most frequent genotypes at six loci in the above five goat breeds were hap1/hap2 (14.38%) and hap1/hap4 (14.38%), hap1/hap2 (38.60%), hap4/hap4 (40.91%), hap2/hap4 (26.53%), hap2/hap5 (20.00%), respectively. The Jining Grey goat does with nine genotypes analyzed of POU1F1 gene showed no obvious difference in litter size.

Abstract
Small Tail Han (STH) sheep is a famous Chinese local breed and has perfect prolificacy performance, but it is inferior to imported mutton sheep breeds on meat production. In this study, six imported male sheep populations (White Suffolk, Black Suffolk, Texel, Dorper, South African Mutton Merino and East Friesian) were crossbred with STH female sheep respectively. The heterosis values of litter size, average daily gain (ADG) and feed conversion ratio (FCR) of crossbred sheep were analyzed for seeking the optimal cross. Meanwhile 28 microsatellite markers were used to measure the genetic distance between imported populations and STH population. Regression between the genetic distance and heterosis was analyzed for evaluating potential of microsatellite on predicting heterosis. Results showed a significant positive linear correlation (r = 0.892, P < 0.05) between heterosis of litter size and genetic distance D (A) of six crosses. This implied that these microsatellite markers had moderate potential to forecast heterosis of litter size in sheep. Results of this study also indicated that South African Mutton Merino and East Friesian sheep would be the optimal sire breeds for the litter size and might bring the greatest economic benefit in six imported populations; Suffolk sheep could be prior consideration as sire breeds when breeding objective focused on ADG. Finally these results provided valuable information for Chinese sheep industry.

Abstract
Growth differentiation factor 9 (GDF9) which controls the fecundity of Belclare, Cambridge, Santa Ines, Moghani, Ghezel and Thoka ewes was studied as a candidate gene for the prolificacy of Small Tail Han sheep. According to the sequence of ovine GDF9 gene, six pairs of primers were designed to detect single nucleotide polymorphisms of two exons of GDF9 gene in both high fecundity breed (Small Tail Han sheep) and low fecundity breed (Dorset sheep) by polymerase chain reaction-single strand conformation polymorphism (PCR-SSCP). Only the products amplified by primers 2-1 and 2-2 displayed polymorphisms. For primer 2-1, three genotypes (AA, AB and BB) were detected in both sheep breeds. Sequencing revealed one silent mutation (G477A) in exon 2 of GDF9 gene in the BB genotype in comparison with the AA, which was known as G3 mutation of GDF9 gene in Belclare and Cambridge ewes. The relationship of least squares means for litter size was AA > AB > BB in Small Tail Han sheep (P > 0.05). For primer 2-2, two genotypes (CC and CD) were detected in both sheep breeds. Sequencing revealed one novel single nucleotide mutation (G729T) in exon 2 of GDF9 gene in the CD genotype in comparison with the CC, which resulted in an amino acid change (Gln243His). The ewes with mutation heterozygous genotype CD had 0.77 (P < 0.01) lambs more than those with wild type CC in Small Tail Han sheep. These results preliminarily indicated that allele D of GDF9 gene was a potential genetic marker for improving litter size in Small Tail Han sheep.

Abstract
The kisspeptin/GPR54 pathway is crucial in the process of puberty onset. Six pairs of primers were designed to clone goat GPR54 and scan polymorphisms and one pair of primers to detect polymorphisms of GPR54 in sexual precocious and sexual late-maturing goat breeds. A DNA fragment of 4258 bp of goat GPR54 was obtained, which contains an open reading frame (ORF) of 1137 bp and encodes 378 amino acids, having a high homology with other mammals. The protein was predicted to have seven transmembrane regions. There were no base pair variation in exons 1-4 and three base changes (G4014A, G4136A and C4152T) in exon 5 by sequencing and the three mutations may have some correlation with sexual precocity in goats. For the 4152 locus, the Jining Grey goat does with genotype TT and CT had 1.02 and 0.84 (P<0.01) kids more than those with genotype CC, respectively. No significant difference (P>0.05) was found in litter size between TT and CT genotypes in Jining Grey goat. For the other two loci, no significant difference (P>0.05) was found in litter size between different genotypes in Jining Grey goats. The present study preliminarily indicated an association between allele T of the 4152 locus in GPR54 and high litter size in Jining Grey goats.

Abstract
Most cashmere goats are found in northern China and Mongolia. They are regarded as precious resources for their production of high quality natural fibre for the textile industry. It was the first time that the genetic diversity and population structure of nine Chinese cashmere populations has been assessed using 14 ISAG/FAO microsatellite markers. In addition, two Iranian populations and one West African goat population were genotyped for comparison. Results indicated that the genetic diversity of Chinese cashmere goats was rich, but less than those of the Iranian goat populations. All pairwise F(ST) values between the Chinese cashmere goat populations reached a highly significant level (P < 0.001), suggesting that they should all be considered as separate breeds. Finally, clustering analysis divided Chinese cashmere goats into at least two clusters, with the Tibetan Hegu goats alone in one cluster. An extensive admixture was detected among the Chinese goat breeds (except the Hegu), which have important implications for breeding management.

Abstract
KISS-1 and GPR54 were regarded as key regulators for the puberty onset and fundamental gatekeepers of sexual maturation in mammals. To explore the possible association between variations in KISS-1 and GPR54 with sexual precocity, mutation screening of exon 1 of KISS-1 and exon 1, exon 3, and partial exon 5 of GPR54 was performed in a sexual precocious breed (Jining Grey goats) and sexual late-maturing breeds (Inner Mongolia Cashmere, Angora, and Boer goats) by PCR-SSCP. The results showed that five novel mutations were identified in exon 1 and partial exon 5 of GPR54 including C96 T, T173C, G176A, G825A, and C981 T. The Jining Grey goats with genotype BB or AB had 1.07 (P < 0.05) or 0.40 (P < 0.05) kids more than those with AA. The Jining Grey goats with genotype DD or CD had 1.80 (P < 0.05) or 0.55 (P < 0.05) kids more than CC, respectively. The present study preliminarily showed an association between alleles B and D of GPR54 with high litter size and sexual precocity in Jining Grey goats.

Abstract
A single nucleotide polymorphism of 5' flanking region of the prolactin gene was investigated in both high prolificacy breeds (Small Tail Han and Hu sheep) and low prolificacy breeds (Dorset and Suffolk sheep) using polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-single strand conformation polymorphism (SSCP). The results indicated that two genotypes (AA and AB) were detected in Small Tail Han sheep (n = 239), only one genotype (AA) was detected in Hu (n = 40), Dorset (n = 50) and Suffolk sheep (n = 39). The mutant homozygous genotype (BB) was not detected in four sheep breeds. In Small Tail Han sheep (n = 239), the frequency of genotypes AA and AB was 0.91 and 0.09, the frequency of the A and B alleles was 0.95 and 0.05, respectively. The fitness tests showed that the Small Tail Han sheep population was in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium. Sequencing revealed a mutation (G-->T) at the position 63 bp of the 5' flanking region of prolactin gene in AB genotype compared with AA genotype in Small Tail Han sheep. The Small Tail Han ewes with AB genotype had 0.83 (p < 0.05) lambs more than those with AA genotype. These results preliminarily showed that the prolactin locus is either a major gene that influences the high prolificacy in Small Tail Han sheep or is in close linkage with such a gene.

Abstract
The complete nucleotide sequence of bean pod mottle comovirus (BPMV) RNA 1 was determined. It is 5983 nucleotides long, excluding the poly(A) tail, and encodes a polyprotein of 1850 amino acid (aa) residues. Multiple alignments of the deduced aa sequence of BPMV polyprotein with those of cowpea mosaic virus (CPMV), red clover mottle virus (RCMV) and cowpea severe mosaic virus (CPSMV) indicated that BPMV RNA1 encodes the predicted set of five mature proteins: the equivalent of CPMV 32K protease cofactor, 58K putative helicase, VPg, 24K protease and 87K putative RNA-dependent RNA polymerase. Of the four proposed cleavage sites in BPMV RNA1 polyprotein, the one at the 32K/58K site (Q/A) is distinct for BPMV polyprotein and those at the 58K/VPg and VPg/24K junctions (Q/S and Q/M, respectively) are identical in all four comovirus polyproteins. Sequence comparison and phylogenetic analysis revealed that BPMV RNA1 is more closely related to CPSMV than to CPMV or to RCMV.

Abstract
Soybean (Glycine max. Merrill. cv. Fayette) cotyledonary nodes were transformed with bean pod mottle virus (BPMV) coat protein precursor (CP-P) gene via Agrobacterium-mediated transformation. The transformation rate was low, and only five primary transformants derived from five different cotyledons were obtained from 400 original cotyledons. Southern blot hybridization verified the integration of the BPMV CP-P gene. Inheritance and expression of this gene in R1 plants were also demonstrated. About 30% of R2 plants derived from one transgenic line showed complete resistance to BPMV infection, as assessed by symptomatology and ELISA, suggesting that homozygous, but not hemizygous, plants exhibit the resistant phenotype.

Abstract
The open reading frame (39K ORF) at the 5' end of the genome of barley yellow dwarf virus, PAV serotype (BYDV-PAV), overlaps with a 60K ORF by 13 nucleotides. Several approaches were used to show that the 60K ORF (putative polymerase gene) is translated by a low-frequency frameshift event in which some ribosomes shift into the 60K ORF rather than terminate at the 39K ORF stop codon. A sequence encompassing this region of overlap induced minus one (-1) translational frameshifting in heterologous and native contexts. In Escherichia coli, with the alpha subunit of lacZ used as a reporter gene, the rate of frameshifting caused by the BYDV-PAV sequence was approximately 3%. Amino acid sequencing of the transframe protein confirmed that ribosomes slip into the -1 frame in the overlapping region which includes a consensus shifty heptanucleotide: GGGUUUU. In a wheat germ translation system, BYDV-PAV genomic RNA from virions frameshifted about twice as efficiently as full-length transcripts from a cDNA clone. Frameshifting in rabbit reticulocyte lysates was much lower for either template. The identity of the 99-kDa wheat germ translation product was verified as the transframe protein by immunoprecipitation with antibody specific for the 60K ORF. These results support our previous observations of frameshifting in protoplasts and illustrate a subtle molecular control mechanism between this pathogen and its host cells.

Abstract
Antigenic differences among cowpea severe mosaic virus (CPSMV) isolates were clearly reflected in signature analysis employing a panel of seven well-characterized, monoclonal antibodies. Separate binding curves were generated by reacting serial dilutions of extracts from infected plant tissue containing each antigen simultaneously with each antibody in the panel. An iterative procedure was used to align unknown CPSMV antigen concentrations from different antigen preparations to allow comparison of binding profiles from different assays. Signature analysis was shown to be highly useful for the elucidation of subtle antigenic differences among viral agents because it requires neither purified virus nor knowledge of virus concentration in sap from infected plants.
