Multifocal cavernous hemangioma: a rare presentation

Periorbital cavernous hemangiomas involving other facial structures usually occur in young adults. We now report a case with multifocal involvement of the eyelid, orbit, conjunctiva, cheek, palate, and temporal fossa, simultaneously, which is quite rare. These lesions are slow-growing and may be associated with systemic abnormalities. Clinical and imaging parameters are employed to differentiate them from other vascular malformations. Depending on the site and severity of the tumor, appropriate treatment modalities are initiated to minimize cosmetic disfigurement and functional deficit in the patient.

Comparative randomised controlled clinical trial of a herbal eye drop with artificial tear and placebo in computer vision syndrome

A comparative randomised double masked multicentric clinical trial has been conducted to find out the efficacy and safety of a herbal eye drop preparation, itone eye drops with artificial tear and placebo in 120 patients with computer vision syndrome. Patients using computer for at least 2 hours continuosly per day having symptoms of irritation, foreign body sensation, watering, redness, headache, eyeache and signs of conjunctival congestion, mucous/debris, corneal filaments, corneal staining or lacrimal lake were included in this study. Every patient was instructed to put two drops of either herbal drugs or placebo or artificial tear in the eyes regularly four times for 6 weeks. Objective and subjective findings were recorded at bi-weekly intervals up to six weeks. Side-effects, if any, were also noted. In computer vision syndrome the herbal eye drop preparation was found significantly better than artificial tear (p < 0.01). No side-effects were noted by any of the drugs. Both subjective and objective improvements were observed in itone treated cases. So, itone can be considered as a useful drug in computer vision syndrome.

Neurofibroma of the lacrimal sac

Neurofibroma is an extremely rare neural tumor of the lacrimal sac. We present a case of neurofibroma of the lacrimal sac in a 45-year-old lady. Based on the history of intermittent epiphora, presence of a mass in the lacrimal sac region, dacryocystogram suggestive of space occupying lesion within the lacrimal sac and computed tomographic image of a tumor lying in the lacrimal fossa region, a tentative diagnosis of lacrimal sac neoplasm was made. Excision of the tumor with repair of the lacrimal sac was performed. Histopathology proved it to be neurofibroma of the lacrimal sac. Until now, only four cases have been reported worldwide. The paucity of reported cases limits our knowledge regarding the natural course, treatment, results and prognosis of this tumor.

Subconjunctival dislocation of an anterior chamber intraocular lens

Post-traumatic dislocation of an intraocular lens (IOL) is a serious complication, especially after a blunt trauma because the posterior chamber lenses can potentially dislocate subconjunctively. We report a case of subconjunctival dislocation of a Kelman multiflex AC IOL. Such cases require immediate wound repair with IOL explantation to prevent endophthalmitis.
