Abdominal tuberculosis in pediatrics: A case report

Tuberculosis is an infectious disease which most commonly compromises the respiratory system, whereas abdominal involvement is rare, thus its diagnosis is a challenge. The clinical manifestations of abdominal tuberculosis as well as its physical examination findings are usually non-specific and, frequently, similar to those of other diseases, so it is critical to consider abdominal tuberculosis among the differential diagnoses. Here we report the clinical case of a 15-year-old male patient hospitalized for a prolonged febrile syndrome associated with abdominal pain, diarrhea, night sweats, and weight loss.

Aspergillus infection of total knee arthroplasty presenting as a popliteal cyst. Case report and review of the literature

Fungal infections have only rarely been reported to occur in patients having undergone total knee arthroplasty. This case report documents the first known case of Aspergillus fumigatus as the offending organism. Its initial presentation as a popliteal cyst further reinforces the known association of popliteal cysts and intra-articular knee pathology.

CT demonstration of rapid improvement of retroperitoneal fibrosis in response to steroid therapy

A case of retroperitoneal fibrosis with hydronephrosis was treated with cortisone therapy. Computed tomographic images recorded marked and rapid reduction in the size of the soft tissue fibrotic mass and resolution of the hydronephrosis.
