Abstract
Higher intakes of individual antioxidants such as vitamins A, C, and E have been linked to mortality in the general population, but the association of overall antioxidant intake with mortality especially in depressed adults remains unclear. We aimed to investigate whether the dietary overall antioxidant intake is associated with all-cause and cause-specific mortality among depressed adults. This study included 3051 US adults with depression, who participated in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) from 2005 to 2018. Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) was used to define depression and evaluate depression severity. The dietary antioxidant quality score (DAQS) and dietary antioxidant index (DAI) were calculated based on the intakes of vitamins A, C, and E, zinc, selenium, and magnesium. A higher DAQS and DAI were significantly associated with lower depression scores (PHQ-9) (all P-trend < 0.05). For individual antioxidants, significant negative associations of vitamins A and E with all-cause mortality were observed. For overall antioxidant intake, the DAQS and DAI were inversely associated with all-cause and cancer mortality. Compared with participants in the lowest categories of DAQS and DAI, the corresponding HRs (95% CIs) in the highest categories were 0.63 (0.42-0.93) and 0.70 (0.49-0.98) for all-cause mortality and 0.39 (0.17-0.87) and 0.43 (0.21-0.88) for cancer mortality, respectively. The overall dietary antioxidant intake was beneficially associated with all-cause and cancer mortality in depressed adults. These findings suggest that comprehensive dietary antioxidant intake may improve depressive symptoms and lower mortality risk among adults with depression.

Abstract
Accumulating studies have shown that chronic exposure to iAs correlates with an increased incidence of diabetes. In recent years, miRNA dysfunction has emerged both as a response to iAs exposure and independently as candidate drivers of metabolic phenotypes such as T2DM. However, few miRNAs have been profiled during the progression of diabetes after iAs exposure in vivo. In the present study, high iAs (10 mg/L NaAsO2) exposure mice models of C57BKS/Leprdb (db/db) and C57BLKS/J (WT) were established through the drinking water, the exposure duration was 14 weeks. The results showed that high iAs exposure induced no significant changes in FBG levels in either db/db or WT mice. FBI levels, C-peptide content, and HOMA-IR levels were significantly increased, and glycogen levels in the livers were significantly lower in arsenic-exposed db/db mice. HOMA-β% was decreased significantly in WT mice exposed to high iAs. In addition, more different metabolites were found in the arsenic-exposed group than the control group in db/db mice, mainly involved in the lipid metabolism pathway. Highly expressed glucose, insulin, and lipid metabolism-related miRNAs were selected, including miR-29a-3p, miR-143-3p, miR-181a-3p, miR-122-3p, miR-22-3p, and miR-16-3p. And a series of target genes were chosen for analysis, such as ptp1b, irs1, irs2, sirt1, g6pase, pepck and glut4. The results showed that, the axles of miR-181a-3p-irs2, miR-181a-3p-sirt1, miR-22-3p-sirt1, and miR-122-3p-ptp1b in db/db mice, and miR-22-3p-sirt1, miR-16-3p-glut4 in WT mice could be considered promising targets to explore the mechanisms and therapeutic aspects of T2DM after exposure to high iAs.

Abstract
BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES There has been an increased interest in determining calcium magnesium, sodium, and potassium's distinct effects on hypertension over the past decade, yet they simultaneously regulate blood pressure. We aimed at examining the association of dietary calcium, magnesium, sodium, and potassium independently and jointly with hypertension using National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey data from 2007 to 2014. MATERIALS/METHODS The associations were examined on a large cross-sectional study involving 16684 US adults aged>20 years, using multivariate analyses with logistical models. RESULTS Sodium and calcium quartiles assessed alone were not associated with hypertension. Potassium was negatively associated with hypertension in the highest quartile, 0.64 (95% confidence interval [CI], 0.48–0.87). When jointly assessed using the high and low cut-off points, low sodium and corresponding high calcium, magnesium, and potassium intake somewhat reduced the odds of hypertension 0.39 (95% CI, 0.20–0.76). The sodium-to-potassium ratio was positively associated with hypertension in the highest quartile1.50 (95% CI, 1.11–2.02). When potassium was adjusted for sodium intake and sodium-to-potassium ratio assessed among women, increased odds of hypertension were reported in the highest quartile as 2.02 (95% CI, 1.18–3.34) and 1.69 (95% CI, 1.12–2.57), respectively. The association of combined minerals on hypertension using dietary goals established that men meeting the reference intakes for calcium and exceeding for magnesium had reduced odds of hypertension 0.51 (95% CI, 0.30–0.89). Women exceeding the recommendations for both calcium and magnesium had the lower reduced odds of 0.30 (95% CI, 0.10–0.69). CONCLUSIONS Our results suggest that the studied minerals' association on hypertension is stronger when jointly assessed, mostly after gender stratification. As compared to men, women increased their risk of hypertension even with a low sodium intake. Women would also reasonably reduce their risk of developing hypertension by increasing calcium and magnesium intake. In comparison, men would somewhat be protected from developing hypertension with calcium intake meeting the dietary goals and magnesium exceeding the nutritional goals.

Abstract
Background The service industry has been an evolving sector and a great concern to providers ensuring continuously that clients’ satisfaction is met. Hence, the importance of patient satisfaction in the healthcare sector. This study focused on the satisfaction of women with the delivery of health services in Ghana and aims to be different from other studies which has focused on patient satisfaction with urban and rural health services, regional health services and health insurance. Our study examines the percentages of satisfaction with the multiple outcomes defined and identifies the key health system and demographic related factors associated with women satisfaction. Methods This study used data from the 2014 Ghana Demographic and Health Survey and a total of 12,831 households were systematically selected with reproductive women aged 15–49 years eligible for interview. Data for this study was analysed quantitatively using descriptive statistics, chi square and regression analysis. A total of 3648 women were included in this study and the final analysis thus involved a weighted sample of 3507 women. Satisfaction indicators were put together into SERVQUAL dimensions in the study and reliability test run using Cronbach Alpha (α). All data analyses were carried out in STATA 13.0. The adjusted odds ratios (AOR) with their corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CI) were calculated. Results Analysis showed that independently, education and religion were significantly associated with service reliability, overall satisfaction and responsiveness. Payment option was also associated with responsiveness and tangibility dimensions. Furthermore, place of residence was independently associated with responsiveness, tangibility and overall satisfaction. Finally, maternal age, region, provider friendly, ease of getting care and opening hours were all independently associated with reliability, responsiveness, tangibility and overall service satisfaction at the multivariable level. Conclusions Dimensions of service quality which focus on patient-centered atmosphere and efficient service delivery system should be integrated and strengthened by hospital management in order to increase patient satisfaction. Key maternal characteristics and health system related factors were revealed to have positive association with patient satisfaction with health services delivery and this cannot be ignored by health care managers in ensuring that systems are improved for better health care.

Abstract
Diet quality fluctuates throughout one’s adulthood, yet it remains unclear how long-term diet quality changes are related to type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and its biomarkers. We aimed to examine the association of long-term diet quality with T2DM and its biomarkers. Diet quality was assessed by the revised DBI-07, in which diet quality distance levels (DQD) represented the overall diet quality. Participants were clustered into classes sharing similar DQD levels using latent class mixed model. We used Cox regression and random effect linear regression to assess DQD trajectories’ association with T2DM and its biomarkers. Three DQD trajectories were derived: moderate to gradual decrease, high to moderate, high stable DQD level representing 2.14%, 6.18% and, 91.68% of the population. Compared to class 1, class 2 and 3 were associated with an increased risk of T2DM [HR=4.40; 95%CI: 2.02-9.59]; [HR=3.68; 95% CI: 2.11-6.43]. When class 3 was used as a reference, class 1 was also associated with an increased risk of TDM [HR=2.71; 95%CI: 1.55-4.73]. Our findings suggest that a long-term unhealthy diet is associated with an increased risk of T2DM. Gradually reducing DQD level may not make a difference, which establishes the importance of promoting healthy eating habits at early adulthood.
