Intricate synergistic effects between air pollution and carbon emission: An emerging evidence from China

Due to global climate change and intensifying anthropogenic pollution, China confronts the dual challenge of controlling particulate matter 2.5 μm (PM2.5) pollution and reducing carbon emissions. Quantifying the characteristics of PM2.5 concentrations and CO2 emissions, as well as identifying the driving factors and synergistic effects of PM2.5 reduction and CO2 mitigation, are crucial steps in promoting sustainable urban development and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in China. In this study, we selected 168 cities as our case-study, and quantified spatial characteristics of PM2.5 concentrations and CO2 emissions from 2015 to 2020 in China. Then we analyzed driving factors affecting the spatial heterogeneity of PM2.5 reduction and CO2 mitigation applying Multi-scale Geographically Weighted Regression (MGWR) model. By employing coupling coordination degree (CCD) model, we further detected the spatiotemporal evolution patterns of the synergistic effects between PM2.5 reduction and CO2 mitigation in key Chinese cities. The result showed that: (a) From 2015 to 2020, PM2.5 concentrations experienced a significant reduction from 59.78 μg/m3 to 49.83 μg/m3, while CO2 emissions increased from 44.88 × 106 t in 2015 to 45.77 × 106 t in 2020; (b) Green economy efficiency (gee), government attention (gover), and environmental regulation (envir) demonstrate the most pronounced synergistic effect on pollution reduction and carbon mitigation, with the drivers exhibiting obvious spatial heterogeneity; (c) The overall coupling coordination level of PM2.5 pollution and CO2 emissions in China dropped from 0.49 in 2015 to 0.46 in 2020, and the coupling coordination grade in northern cities was notably higher than that in southern cities. The result enhances our understanding of spatiotemporal patterns of synergistic effects between PM2.5 reduction and CO2 mitigation, and provides the theoretical basis for policy decision-making to realize pollution decrease and carbon neutral and regional environment governance.

Selective/simultaneous batch adsorption of binary textile dyes using amorphous perlite powder: aspects of central composite design optimization and mechanisms

Herein, the selectivity/simultaneously adsorption associated with Congo Red (CR) and Methylene Blue (MB) has been efficiently undertaken via amorphous perlite. Under optimum conditions of 38 min, 96 mg/L and 312°K for the contact time, the dye concentration, and the temperature, respectively, the optimization study using central composite design (CCD) matrix gave rise to high adsorption yields of 82.22 and 96.65% for CR and MB, respectively. Importantly, kinetic and isotherm studies attested that the batch adsorption occurs as intra-diffusional mass transport onto porous material. The obtained thermodynamic parameters are indicative of an endothermic/spontaneous physisorption process. Whereas SEM-EDS characterization revealed the superficial adsorption process of both CR and MB onto perlite. In addition, the FTIR analysis suggests that the adsorption process disrupted the short-range compounds order of perlite samples, revealing the marked crystallinity decrease of the adsorbent after adsorption. Finally, application of these optimum conditions tests on real industrial wastewater show that the adsorption was simultaneous at neutral pH and at 312°K, whereas CR and MB can be selectively adsorbed at pH 4 and 9, respectively.

RSM analysis based cloud access security broker: a systematic literature review

A Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB) is a security enforcement point or cloud-based software that is placed between cloud service users and cloud applications of cloud computing (CC) which is used to run the dimensionality, heterogeneity, and ambiguity correlated with cloud services. They permit the organization to amplify the reach of their security approaches past their claim framework to third-party computer programs and storage. In contrast to other systematic literature reviews (SLR), this one is directed at the client setting. To identify and evaluate methods to understand CASB, the SLR discusses the literature, citing a comprehension of the state-of-the-art and innovative characterization to describe. An SLR was performed to compile CASB related experiments and analyze how CASBs are designed and formed. These studies are then analyzed from different contexts, like motivation, usefulness, building approach, and decision method. The SLR has discussed the contrasts present between the studies and implementations, with planning accomplishments conducted with combinations of market-based courses of action, simulation tools, middleware's, etc. Search words with the keywords, which were extracted from the Research Questions (RQs), were utilized to recognize the essential consideration from the journal papers, conference papers, workshops, and symposiums. This SLR has distinguished 20 particular studies distributed from 2011 to 2021. Chosen studies were evaluated concurring to the defined RQs for their eminence and scope to particular CASB in this way recognizing a few gaps within the literature. Unlike other studies, this one concentrates on the customer's viewpoint. The survey uses a systematic analysis of the literature to discover and classify techniques for realizing CASB, resulting in a comprehensive grasp of the state-of-the-art and a novel taxonomy to describe CASBs. To assemble studies relating to CASB and investigate how CASB are engineered, a systematic literature review was done. These investigations are then evaluated from a variety of angles, including motivation, functionality, engineering approach, and methodology. Engineering efforts were directed at a combination of "market-based solutions", "middlewares", "toolkits", "algorithms", "semantic frameworks", and "conceptual frameworks", according to the study, which noted disparities in the studies' implementations. For further understanding, the different independent parameters influencing the CASB are studied using PCA (Principal Component Analysis). The outcome of their analysis was the identification of five parameters influencing the PCA analysis. The experimental results were used as input for Research Surface Methodology (RSM) to obtain an empirical model. For this, five-level coding was employed for developing the model and considered three dependent parameters and four center values. For more understanding of these independent variables' influence, on the CASB study, RSM analysis was employed. It was observed from the CCD (Central Composite Design) model that the actual values show significant influence with R² = 0.90. This wide investigation reveals that CASB is still in a formative state. Even though vital advancement has been carried out in this zone, obvious challenges stay to be tended to, which have been highlighted in this paper.
