Abstract
The studies have focused on changes in CO2 emissions over different periods, including the COVID-19 pandemic. Even if CO2 emissions are temporarily reduced during the pandemic according to annual figures, this may be misleading. Considering annual figures is important to understand the overall trend, but using data with much higher frequency (e.g., daily) is much better suited to investigate dynamic relationships and external effects. Therefore, this study comprehensively analyzes the association between CO2 emissions and disaggregated electricity generation (EG) sources across the globe by employing the novel wavelet local multiple correlation (WLMC) approach on daily data from 1st January 2020 to 31st March 2023. The results demonstrate that (1) based on the main statistics, daily CO2 emissions range between 69 MtCO2 and 116 MtCO2, indicating that there is an oscillation, but no sharp changes over the analyzed period. (2) based on the baseline regression using the dynamic ordinary least squares (DOLS) approach, the constructed estimation models have a high predictive ability of CO2 emissions, reaching ~ 94%; (3) in the further analysis employing the WLMC approach, there are significant externalities between EG resources, which affect CO2 emissions. The results present novel insights about time- and frequency-varying effects as well as a disaggregated analysis of the effect of EG on CO2 emissions, demonstrating the significance of the energy transition towards clean sources around the world.

Abstract
Paediatric orbital lesions encompass a wide spectrum of benign and malignant entities that can arise from different components of the orbit. Clinical symptoms and signs are often nonspecific, and imaging plays a crucial role in the diagnosis and management. Ultrasonography has a limited role and radiation is a major concern with CT especially in the paediatric population. MRI is the modality of choice that avoids the radiation hazard and provides superior soft tissue contrast. The lesions can be localized using the 'compartment' approach which helps to narrow the list of differentials. MRI also provides critical information for management such as presence of perineural spread and intracranial extension. This article depicts the spectrum of Magnetic Resonance imaging findings encountered in paediatric ocular and orbital lesions.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIM Inadequate nutrition is linked to a wide range of detrimental chronic and infectious illness outcomes among the prison populations. However, there is a paucity of thorough analysis of the prevalence of vitamin D deficiency among jail inmates. Consequently, in order to bridge this gap, we conducted a thorough research to ascertain the incidence of vitamin D deficiency among prisoners worldwide. METHOD Six computer-based literature indexes were thoroughly searched for topic focused publications. The I2 test was used to determine heterogeneity among the studies. The overall effect was assessed using a random-effects model with a 95% confidence interval. We used metafor package in R version 4.2.1 for the analysis of data. RESULT Out of 612 studies, 4 studies were included for analysis. The estimated pooled prevalence of vitamin D deficiency was 55% among prisoners. On the other hand, 29.41% were found to have insufficient vitamin D levels. CONCLUSION Despite the scant available research, vitamin D deficiency is prevalent among prisoners. Regular vitamin D status evaluations using reliable health tests, dietary inspection and supplementation are crucial. PROSPERO REGISTRATION ID CRD42023396203.

Abstract
Globe avulsion is an extremely rare and difficult to manage emergency after trauma. Especially in cases of post-traumatic globe avulsion, management and treatment depend on the condition of the globe and the surgeon's judgment. It can be done in primary reposition as well as enucleation in treatment. Recently published cases show that surgeons prefer primary reposition to reduce the psychological stress that may occur in these patients and to achieve better cosmetic results. We report the treatment and follow-up results of a patient whose globe avulsion was repositioned on the 5th post-traumatic day.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Coats disease may cause diagnostic dilemma because of its variable clinical presentation that can be suspicious of retinoblastoma. Late sequelae of the disease are blinding with possible enucleation. We demonstrate the main histopathological findings of Coats enucleated eyes with literature review. METHODS This was a retrospective study of all enucleated globes diagnosed as Coats disease over 30 years and were reviewed by two pathologists. The corresponding demographic data, clinical presentation, pre-operative clinical impression, and indication for enucleation were collected. Descriptive analysis of our own series data was performed. Our findings were then correlated to published data that were collected from 1983 to 2021 from the PUBMED database in English-written language. Shields classification was used as an inclusion criterion for the published reports to be analyzed. RESULTS We had seven enucleated globes with Coats disease. Mean age at presentation was 3.2 years (range 3 months to 9 years). Male predominance was observed in 6 and all cases were unilateral. Strabismus was the most common initial presentation (57%, n = 4), followed by leukocoria (43%, n = 3). Indication for enucleation was mostly suspected retinoblastoma (57%, n = 4). Four eyes were classified as stage 4, and 2 had advanced stage 5 changes. Histopathologically, subretinal fluid with lipid-laden macrophages was seen in all cases, the anterior chamber was shallow in 5/7 with angle neovascularization in 2/7. Telangiectatic vessels were clearly observed in 4/7. CONCLUSION Coats disease is a potentially visually disabling disease that is mostly unilateral in 95%, has male predominance of 81%, and wide age range with a mean of 17 years. In Saudi Arabia, the disease seems to present at younger age, tends to be more advanced, and may be indistinguishable from retinoblastoma at the time of diagnosis. Shields staging of Coats is highly recommended to be followed clinically to unify the pathways for treatment and to correlate the concluded outcomes.

Abstract
Accurate estimation of terrestrial gross primary productivity (GPP) is essential for quantifying the net carbon exchange between the atmosphere and biosphere. Light use efficiency (LUE) models are widely used to estimate GPP at different spatial scales. However, difficulties in proper determination of maximum LUE (LUEmax) and downregulation of LUEmax into actual LUE result in uncertainties in GPP estimated by LUE models. The recently developed P model, as a LUE-like model, captures the deep mechanism of photosynthesis and simplifies parameterization. Site level studies have proved the outperformance of P model over LUE models. However, the global application of the P model is still lacking. Thus, the effectiveness of 5 water stress factors integrated into the P model was compared. The optimal P model was used to generate a new long-term (1981-2020) global monthly GPP dataset at a spatial resolution of 0.1° × 0.1°, called PGPP. Validation at globally distributed 109 FLUXNET sites indicated that PGPP is better than three widely-used GPP products. R2 between PGPP and observed GPP equals to 0.75, the corresponding root mean squared error (RMSE) and mean absolute error (MAE) equal to 1.77 g C m-2 d-1 and 1.28 g C m-2 d-1. During the period from 1981 to 2020, PGPP significantly increased in 69.02% of global vegetated regions (p < 0.05). Overall, PGPP provides a new GPP product choice for global ecology studies and the comparison of various water stress factors provides a new idea for the improvement of GPP model in the future.

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of age, gender and population origin on human globe and corneal dimensions and to explore the relationships between the dimensions. Human post-mortem eyes were obtained in Hyderabad (n = 223; range, 0-85 years) and Miami (n = 486; range, 6-103 years). The eyes were freed of extraneous tissues and globe antero-posterior length (GAPL), mean globe diameter (MGD) (average of horizontal and vertical), and corneal horizontal (HCD) and vertical (VCD) diameters were measured using digital calipers. The relationships of age, gender and population origin with globe and corneal dimensions and the relationships between the dimensions were assessed by bivalent and multiple regression analyses. Globe and cornea dimensions increase asymptotically with age until around the late teens but do not change thereafter. Bivariate and multivariate regression analysis of the >20-year-old eyes showed that population was significantly correlated with GAPL, MGD. HCD and VCD. Male globes and corneas were larger than those from females, but the difference did not appear to be statistically significant. All Hyderabad dimensions were significantly larger than those from the Miami. Neither GAPL nor MGD were correlated with the corneal dimensions. GAPL was significantly correlated with MGD as was HCD with VCD.

Abstract
Ophthalmic trauma is a leading cause of preventable monocular blindness worldwide. The prevalence of ophthalmic trauma varies considerably based on geographic location, socio-economic status, age groups, occupation, and cultural practices such as firework celebrations. Clinical registries are known to be valuable in guiding the diagnosis, management, and prognostication of complex diseases. However, there is currently a lack of a centralized international data repository for ophthalmic trauma. We draw lessons from past and existing clinical registries related to ophthalmology and propose a new suitable international multicenter clinical registry for ophthalmic trauma: the International Globe and Adnexal Trauma Epidemiology Study (IGATES). IGATES is hosted on a secure web-based platform which exhibits user-friendly smart features, an integrated Ocular Trauma Score (OTS) prognosis calculator, efficient data collection points, and schematic graphical software. IGATES currently has 37 participating centers globally. The data collected through IGATES will be primarily used to develop a more robust and improved ophthalmic trauma prognostic classification system, the Ocular Trauma Score-2 (OTS-2), which builds on previous systems such as the Birmingham Eye Trauma Terminology System (BETTS) and Ocular Trauma Score (OTS). Furthermore, IGATES will act as a springboard for further research into the epidemiology, diagnosis, and management of ophthalmic trauma. Ultimately, IGATES serves to advance the field of ophthalmic trauma and improve the care that patients with ophthalmic trauma receive.

Abstract
It is well known that human crystalline lens shape, dimensions and optical properties change throughout life and influence whole eye refraction. However, it is not clear if lens properties are associated with other ocular parameters. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the relationship of corneal and external globe dimensions with adult lens diameter (LD), lens thickness (LT) and lens power (LP) in order to determine if external factors influence lens properties. Postmortem human eyes (n = 66, age = 20-78 years) were obtained from the Ramayamma International Eye Bank, Hyderabad, India. Globe antero-posterior length (GAPL) and mean (average of horizontal and vertical) diameters of cornea (MCD) and globe (MGD) were measured using digital calipers. Eyes were dissected to produce ocular structures that contain the lens maintained in its accommodating framework, including intact zonules, ciliary body and sections of sclera. Specimens were mounted in a mechanical lens stretching system. LD, LT and LP were measured using high magnification retro-illumination photography, slit illumination photography and Scheiner principle-based optical system respectively in the unstretched (accommodated) state. Relationships between external globe and corneal dimensions and LD, LT or LP were assessed by multiple regression analysis. Age (0.012 ± 0.003 mm/year; p<0.001) and GAPL (0.185 ± 0.045 mm/mm; p<0.001) were significant (p<0.0001) predictors of LD. After adjusting for age-related increases, LD appears to be positively correlated with GAPL. Age (0.010 ± 0.004 mm/year; p = 0.009) and GAPL (-0.143 ± 0.060 mm/mm; p = 0.02) were significant (p = 0.001) predictors of LT. After adjusting for the age-related increase, LT appears to be negatively correlated with GAPL. Only age was a significant predictor of LP (-0.26 ± 0.04 D/year; p<0.001). The results suggest that, apart from aging, lens diameter and thickness are dependent on the anteroposterior length of the eye globe. Lens power is not influenced by globe dimensions.

Abstract
Our goal was to systematically quantify the collagen crimp morphology around the corneoscleral shell, and test the hypothesis that collagen crimp is not uniform over the globe. Axial longitudinal cryosections (30 μm) of three sheep eyes, fixed at 0 mmHg IOP, were imaged using polarized light microscopy to quantify the local collagen in 8 regions: two corneal (central and peripheral) and six scleral (limbus, anterior-equatorial, equatorial, posterior-equatorial, posterior and peripapillary). Collagen crimp period (length of one wave), tortuosity (path length divided by end-to-end length), waviness (SD of orientation), amplitude (half the peak to trough distance), and conformity (width of contiguous similarly oriented bundles) were measured in each region. Measurements were obtained on 8216 collagen fiber bundles. When pooling measurements across the whole eye globe, the median crimp values were: 23.9 μm period, 13.2 μm conformity, 0.63 μm amplitude, 1.006 tortuosity, and 12.7° waviness. However, all parameters varied significantly across the globe. Median bundle periods in the central cornea, limbus, and peripapillary sclera (PPS) were 14.1 μm, 29.5 μm, and 22.9 μm, respectively. Median conformities were 20.8 μm, 14.5 μm, and 15.1 μm, respectively. Median tortuosities were 1.005, 1.007, and 1.007, respectively. Median waviness' were 11.4°, 13.2°, and 13.2°, respectively. Median amplitudes were 0.35 μm, 0.87 μm, and 0.65 μm, respectively. All parameters varied significantly across the globe. All regions differed significantly from one another on at least one parameter. Regions with small periods had large conformities, and bundles with high tortuosity had high waviness and amplitude. Waviness, tortuosity, and amplitude, associated with nonlinear biomechanical behavior, exhibited "double hump" distributions, whereas period and conformity, representing tissue organization, were substantially different between sclera and cornea. Though the biomechanical implications and origin of the patterns observed remain unclear, our findings of well-defined patterns of collagen crimp across the corneoscleral shell, consistent between eyes, support the existence of mechanisms that regulate collagen characteristics at the regional or smaller levels. These results are experimental data necessary for more realistic models of ocular biomechanics and remodeling.

Abstract
The monobloc advancement with distraction is a treatment modality for syndromic craniosynostosis, to correct exorbitism, upper airway compromise and malocclusion. In this report orbital volume and movements of (peri-)orbital structures and globes of seven patients following monobloc distraction are evaluated. In preoperative and postoperative CT-scans orbital volume was assessed and a 3D coordinate system with eleven landmarks was used to measure the movements of orbital structures and globes and to measure the change of exorbitism. Correlation between orbital volume, movements of the orbital structures and change in exorbitism was studied. The orbital volume increased by 49.9% (left) and 50.4% (right). The average anterior movement of the bone was 13.6 mm (left) and 13.9 mm (right). The mean anterior movement of the left globe was 5.8 mm and of the right globe 5.3 mm. The ratio of globe/bone movement was 0.4. Exorbitism decreased with 7.8 mm (left) and 8.1 mm (right). Differences between left and right for orbital volume, for movements and for the decrease in exorbitism were not significant. Volume enlargement and decrease in exorbitism were correlated (p ≤ 0.05). Following monobloc advancement orbital volume increases, (peri-)orbital structures and the globe move forward and exorbitism diminishes.
