Coronary artery lipid accumulation prevention through vibrating piezo electric nano plates embedded in smart stent

Considering the lipid concentration and side effects regarding the stents used by surgeons, a new heart stent model is proposed. In the new stent, a few piezo plates are designed and attached to the stents by which release of the lipids can take place due to the applied alternative voltages. Due to the vibrations of small-scale piezoelectric plates, the deposition of low-density-lipoproteins (LDL) floating in the blood flow in the coronary arteries is prevented. Small-scale effects are considered using nonlocal elasticity theory, and the interaction between fluid and solid is modeled using the Navier-Stokes equation. The effect of fluid parameters as well as applied voltage and geometry structure is reported. Developing of smart stents maybe the key for prevention of short time conventional stents failure.

Molecular dynamics simulation of vibrational behavior of annular graphene sheet: Identification of nonlocal parameter

To obtain accurate results from the nonlocal plate theory, the nonlocal parameter should be properly determined. In this paper, practicing a molecular dynamics simulation, the nonlocal plate theory was presented for free vibration analysis of annular graphene sheets. Accuracy and stability of results are validated by published results. Calculations are performed for different boundary conditions and geometrical properties. Results reveal that inner and outer radius induce significant effects on the nonlocal parameter. This nonlocal parameter extracted based on Molecular Dynamics (MD) in the nonlocal theory can determine the natural frequencies of annular graphene sheets, conveniently, whereas the molecular dynamics simulation demands a lot of time.

Resonance frequency and mass identification of zeptogram-scale nanosensor based on the nonlocal beam theory

Free vibration and mass detection of carbon nanotube-based sensors are studied in this paper. Since the mechanical properties of carbon nanotubes possess a size effect, the nonlocal beam model is used to characterize flexural vibration of nanosensors carrying a concentrated nanoparticle, where the size effect is reflected by a nonlocal parameter. For nanocantilever or bridged sensor, frequency equations are derived when a nanoparticle is carried at the free end or the middle, respectively. Exact resonance frequencies are numerically determined for clamped-free, simply-supported, and clamped-clamped resonators. Alternative approximations of fundamental frequency are given in closed form within the relative error less than 0.4%, 0.6%, and 1.4% for cantilever, simply-supported, and bridged sensors, respectively. Mass identification formulae are derived in terms of the frequency shift. Identified masses via the present approach coincide with those using the molecular mechanics approach and reach as low as 10(-24)kg. The obtained results indicate that the nonlocal effect decreases the resonance frequency except for the fundamental frequency of nanocantilever sensor. These results are helpful to the design of micro/nanomechanical zeptogram-scale biosensor.
