Abstract
CLINICAL RELEVANCE Treatment with aromatase inhibitors (AIs) in patients with breast cancer can lead to dry eye disease (DED). BACKGROUND The purpose of the study is to determine the prevalence and risk factors of DED in patients treated with AIs for breast cancer. METHODS Participants in this cross-sectional study were patients with breast cancer treated with AIs. Demographic and clinical data, including age, sex, type of cancer, stage, grade, duration of treatment and adjuvant chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy were collected. All patients underwent a detailed ophthalmic examination, as well as Tear Break up Time (TBUT) and Schirmer test, while Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI) questionnaires were administered. Based on the clinical findings, a diagnosis of DED was made, and prevalence was calculated. Univariate analysis of the association of different variables with DED was performed. A logistic regression analysis was done to identify risk factors for DED among study population. RESULTS A total of 102 participants were included in the study. The mean age of patients was 62.4 ± 10.8 years. A total of 77 out of 102 patients (75.5%) had ductal, 16 (15.7%) lobular and 9 (8.8%) other types of breast cancer. A total of 83 patients (81.4%) received chemotherapy and 70 patients (68.6%) received radiotherapy. The mean duration of treatment was 24.4 ± 18.9 months. The prevalence of DED in the study sample was 69.6%. Patients who received radiotherapy (OR = 3.31, 95%CI = 1.30-7.82, p = 0.01) or were under treatment with AIs for more than 24 months (OR = 3.53, 95%CI = 1.47-9.21, p = 0.002) were found to have an increased risk of DED. CONCLUSION There was a high prevalence of DED among the study population. Radiotherapy and duration of treatment with AIs were independently associated with DED.

Abstract
Purpose To study ocular surface signs, symptoms, and tear film composition following prophylactic thermal pulsation therapy (TPT) prior to refractive surgery, and to compare these outcomes with those who underwent TPT after refractive surgery. Methods Patients with mild-to-moderate evaporative dry eye disease (DED) and/or meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) undergoing refractive surgery were included. Group 1 patients received TPT (LipiFlow) prior to laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis (LASIK; n = 32, 64 eyes), and Group 2 patients received TPT three months after LASIK (n = 27, 52 eyes). Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI) score, Schirmer's test (ST1, ST2), Tear Breakup Time (TBUT), meibography, and tear fluid were obtained preoperatively and at three months postoperatively in Groups 1 and 2. Additional postoperative evaluation was performed three months after TPT in Group 2. Tear soluble factor profile was measured by multiplex enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) using flow cytometry. Results Postoperative OSDI score was significantly lower and TBUT was significantly higher when compared with matched preoperative values of Group 1 participants. On the other hand, the postoperative OSDI score was significantly higher and TBUT significantly lower when compared with matched preoperative values of Group 2 participants. TPT significantly reduced the postoperative elevation in OSDI and significantly reduced the postoperative reduction in TBUT in Group 2 participants. Tear Matrix metalloproteinase-9/ Tissue inhibitor matrix metalloproteinase 1 (MMP-9/TIMP1) ratio was significantly higher, postoperatively, when compared with matched preoperative levels in Group 2. However, MMP9/TIMP1 ratio remained unaltered in Group 1 participants. Conclusion TPT prior to refractive surgery improved postsurgical ocular surface signs and symptoms and reduced tear inflammatory factors, thereby suggesting the plausibility of reduced post-refractive surgery DED in patients.

Abstract
PURPOSE To evaluate and compare the prevalence and severity of dry eye disease (DED) among patients on atypical antipsychotics with controls. METHODS This cross-sectional study was conducted on patients who were on atypical antipsychotic therapy (study group) and matched controls (control group). Prevalence of DED was assessed using tear break up time. Statistical analysis was done using SPSS. Chi-square test and t-test were used. p < 0.05 was taken as the level of statistical significance. RESULTS Prevalence of DED was significantly more in study group. Polytherapy group has significantly high DED compared with monotherapy. Among monotherapy, clozapine had highest prevalence of DED (p-0.013) and among the polytherapy, clozapine-quetiapine had highest prevalence of dry eye. CONCLUSION Prevalence of DED was higher among antipsychotics than the normal population, and in polytherapy than monotherapy group. The patients on clozapine (monotherapy) and clozapine with quetiapine (polytherapy) had highest prevalence of DED.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The present study aimed to determine the effects of age, sex, reproductive status, skull type, and nasolacrimal duct (NLD) patency on tear production and tear film breakup time (TBUT) in normal dogs. ANIMALS STUDIED The ophthalmic data of 82 healthy adult dogs were evaluated in this study. PROCEDURES Age, sex, breed, and reproductive status were recorded. Schirmer tear test (STT) and TBUT were assessed in all dogs, and interferometry was available for the selected dogs. The Jones test was used to evaluate NLD patency. The cephalic index (CI) was calculated for each dog (skull width/skull length ×100). RESULTS Mean (SD) values for the STT results for the right (OD) and left (OS) eyes were 20.6 (2.7) and 20.2 (2.7) mm/min, respectively. Mean (SD) TBUT values for OD and OS were 6.5 (2.5) and 6.1 (2.3) mm/min in all dogs, respectively. Sex and reproductive status had no significant effect on STT and TBUT (P[OU] > 0.05). Skull type significantly affected TBUT in both eyes (P(OD) = 0.01, P(OS) = 0.003), but had no effect on STT (P[OU] > 0.3). Age had no correlation with STT and TBUT in either eye (P[OU] > 0.05). STT and TBUT had no correlation in either eye (P[OU] > 0.2). NLD patency had no significant effect on STT or TBUT (P[OU] > 0.1). CONCLUSIONS The results of this study showed lower TBUT values in brachycephalic breeds than in non-brachycephalic breeds. A compensatory increase in STT values was observed in dogs with low TBUT values.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The objective of this study was to validate an animal model for dry eye during and after the administration of 1% ophthalmic atropine sulfate (OAS) in New Zealand white (NZW) rabbits. METHODS OAS (1%) was applied three times per day to 30 eyes of 15 healthy NZW rabbits. Sacrifice, enucleation, and lacrimal gland removal took place on days 15, 21, and 30 (OAS group). A second group (n = 5) was used as control. Clinical evaluations took place on days 3, 10, 15, 18, 21, 24 and 30. The primary endpoints were: Schirmer I test, tear break-up time (TBUT), and corneal fluorescein staining. As secondary endpoints, clinical changes including intraocular pressure, and histopathology were evaluated. RESULTS While OAS was administered, the Schirmer I test showed a statistically significant reduction for OAS group versus control (p < 0.001), and versus basal production (p < 0.001). TBUT showed statistically significant differences between groups (days 3 and 10; p = 0.001) and versus basal values (day 3; p < 0.001). Fluorescein staining showed a statistically significant difference (day 3; p = 0.001). The most frequent clinical finding was conjunctival hyperemia (76.9% OAS vs. 20% control). For histopathology, all OAS subjects presented some degree of inflammation (86.7% minimal; 13.3% mild) whereas the control presented only 30% minimal inflammation. Goblet cell density showed no difference. CONCLUSIONS The effectiveness of the OAS dry eye model in NZW rabbits as reported in previous studies was confirmed, provided that the application of the drug is maintained throughout the intervention; it is not a viable model after OAS administration is suspended.

Abstract
PURPOSE Upper blepharoplasty may be related to dry eye symptoms since the function of the orbicularis oculi muscle may affect the tear film. We aimed to assess the effect of blepharoplasty with or without the removal of a strip of orbicularis oculi muscle on tear film dynamics and dry eye symptoms. METHODS A double-blind, randomized, controlled trial comparing upper blepharoplasty without (group A) or with (group B) orbicularis oculi muscle excision was performed on 54 healthy Caucasian patients. Tear film dynamics and dry eye symptoms were evaluated using multiple dry eye parameters, i.e. tear osmolarity, Schirmer test I, corneal/conjunctival staining, tear break-up time (TBUT), Oxford Scheme, Sicca Ocular Staining Score and Ocular Surface Disease Index questionnaire. All the parameters were assessed preoperatively and 6 and 12 months after upper blepharoplasty. All the groups' outcomes were compared. RESULTS The differences were not significant between the two upper blepharoplasty techniques regarding most of the above-mentioned outcomes. Subjective symptoms of ocular irritation, consistent with dry eye disease and vision-related impairment, were reduced after upper blepharoplasty independent of the type of the technique applied, while the pre and postoperative outcomes of the objective tear dynamics did not differ 12 months after surgery. However, group B demonstrated a significant increase in tear osmolarity and TBUT at the 6-month follow-up visit. CONCLUSION An upper blepharoplasty alleviates subjective dry eye complaints in the long term, while not changing the tear dynamics. The improvement was independent of the blepharoplasty technique used.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Computer vision syndrome (CVS) is a group of various eye and vision-related problems from prolonged use of mobile devices. Symptoms include dry eyes, blurred vision, eye strain, headache, and also neck and shoulder pain. This study was carried out to analyze the correlation between the exposure time of High Energy Visible (HEV) from mobile devices' use and the prevalence of evaporative dry eyes in young age. METHODS An observational cross-sectional study was done using quota sampling method for 100 High School students. Data collection was performed using questionnaire to identify daily use of mobile devices (hours) and duration for using mobile devices (years). A classification was determined as mild, moderate, and heavy HEV exposure. Evaporative dry eyes were diagnosed using tear break-up time test (TBUT) of less than 10 s for both eyes. RESULTS Ninety-four students participated in this study. A total of 82 students (87.2%) experienced evaporative dry eyes. There were 11 students (11.7%) who had dry eyes with mild exposure, 18 students (19.1%) had dry eyes with moderate exposure, and 53 students (56.4%) had dry eyes with heavy exposure. A chi square analysis showed all HEV exposures have similar risk to the prevalence of dry eyes among High School students (p<0.05). CONCLUSIONS The risk of developing evaporative dry eyes, as one of the symptoms of CVS in young age with normal tear production, could be induced even with minimal exposure to mobile devices.

Abstract
Purpose: This study aimed to reveal the cause of meibomian gland disease and meibomian gland loss in patients with Sjögren's syndrome (SS) as the leading factor for dry eyes. Methods: The study included a total of 30 patients with SS and dry eye symptoms and a control group of 50 age- and gender-matched healthy subjects. The dryness parameters of all the participants were evaluated. At first, meibography was performed to measure meibomian gland loss using noninvasive methods. Later, meibomian gland expression and secretion quality were evaluated using silt-lamp biomicroscopy. Correlations between the measurements were analyzed statistically. Results: In patients with SS, MG loss was significantly greater than in the control group (19.7 ± 71%, 12.7 ± 9.6%, P < 0.001). All dry eye parameters (tear film breakup time, Schirmer's test score, OSDI, stain score, dry eye disease) were statistically significant in the SS group. There was an extremely negative correlation between upper MB loss and BUT (P = 0.08, r: 0.781). There was an extremely positive correlation between upper MB loss and staining (P = 0.015, r: 0.739). An extremely negative correlation was determined between sub-MB loss and BUT (P = 0.18, r:-0.781), and a moderately positive significant correlation was found between sub-MB loss and staining (P = 0.031, r: 0.659). Conclusion: The results of this study demonstrated that patients with SS were at a higher risk of being exposed to meibomian gland loss, which directly leads to the severe dry eye symptoms associated with SS.

Abstract
Purpose: To study the efficiency of vitamin D3 (buccal spray) alone and combination of vitamin D3 with cyclosporine in the treatment of dry eye disease (DED) in patients with deficient serum 25(OH)D levels. Methods: Around 90 patients with DED with deficient serum 25(OH)D levels were included and randomized into three groups and were given treatment for dry eye (Group A- 0.5% carboxymethylcellulose (CMC), Group B- 0.5% CMC + 2000 IU vitamin D through buccal spray, Group C- 0.5% CMC + 2000 IU vitamin D through buccal spray + 0.05% cyclosporine). The patients were followed at day-15, day-30, and day-90 for improvement in tear breakup time (TBUT) and Schirmer’s, and ocular surface disease index (OSDI) score. Improvement in serum vitamin D level was assessed at day-90. One way ANOVA test, paired t-test, and Chi-square test were used for analysis. Results: Group B and Group C had significantly higher in Schirmer’s test-I values as compared to Group A (P = 0.001, P < 0.001, P < 0.001 at day-15, day-30, and day-90, respectively). Significantly higher values of TBUT and mean serum vitamin D levels were obtained in Group B and Group C as compared to Group A at day-90 (P < 0.05). OSDI scores of patients significantly decreased in all three groups at all follow-up visits (P < 0.05). Overall, Group C and Group B were found statistically better than Group A. Group C showed better results than Group B but they were nonsignificant. Conclusion: Vitamin D supplementation leads to earlier and significant improvement in TBUT, Schirmer’s, and OSDI score in patients with vitamin D deficient DED.

Abstract
Objectives: To assess ocular abnormalities in psoriatic patients (new-cases versus patients under treatment) in comparison with healthy controls.Methods: A total of 200 psoriatic patients and 100 healthy controls were enrolled in this prospective, observational study. The demographic data of the individuals were recorded. Dermatological and ophthalmologic examinations were conducted; ocular surface disease index (OSDI), Schirmer's and tear break-up time (TBUT) values were also measured.Results: The mean values of TBUT and Schirmer's tests in patients were significantly lower than the controls and significantly higher scores of OSDI were observed among patients compared to the controls (p < .0001); dry eye disease was more frequent in the patients than the healthy subjects (p = .001). Other ocular findings including cataract and uveitis were not significantly different between the groups. Although no significant differences were found between the ocular findings of new cases and patients under treatment, ocular findings in cases under treatment were associated with the type of treatment and more frequent in those treated with methotrexate, followed by acitretin and biologic drugs.Conclusions: Ocular surface problems in psoriatic patients are more common than previously thought; in addition to the role of treatment modalities, psoriasis itself and a probable systemic inflammation may play an important role.Key PointsThere are limited case-control studies about ocular manifestations in psoriasis and also its pathogenesis is not yet clear.This study shows that ocular surface problems in psoriatic patients are higher than healthy subjects; in addition to the role of treatment modalities, psoriasis itself and a probable systemic inflammation may play a pivotal role.Regular ophthalmological evaluations are recommended in psoriatic patients especially those with more severe and chronic form of the disease, to prevent any complications.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effects of long-term computer use on tear production and evaporation. METHODS: In this study, 30 eyes of 30 people using computer for 8 hours a day were taken as the study group. In the control group, 30 eyes of 30 healthy individuals who did not spend 1 hour using computer on a daily basis were evaluated. The cases were examined at 8 am and 5 pm. The Schirmer test, tear break-up time (TBUT), and ocular surface disease index (OSDI) were evaluated. RESULTS: There was no significant difference between the groups in terms of age and gender. The Schirmer test results, which measure the parameters of tear production, were 16.80±2.04 and 15.50±2.06 mm (p>0.05) in the study group, and 17.28±1.52 and 17.16±2.53 in the control group. The TBUT measurements were 9.15±2.93 and 6.80±1.11 sec in the study group. It was observed that the evening TBUT decreased (p<0.05). The TBUT measurements were 15.80±3.15 sec and 15.20±1.92 sec (p>0.05) in the control group. The OSDI scores were 26.7±3.36 and 28.3±1.19 in the study group, and 25.0±4.48 and 27.3±2.27 in the control group. CONCLUSION: As a result, it was found that a long-term computer use did not change the Schirmer test results significantly, but there were statistically significant changes in the tear break-up time (TBUT) results of the evaporative type eye dryness. According the our study results, long-term computer usage may cause an evaporative-type dry eye disease.

Abstract
PURPOSE To evaluate the effects of acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin) on tear film parameters and dry eye disease. METHODS Fifty-seven patients using low-dose aspirin regularly for antiaggregant purposes as well as 49 controls, who required antiaggregant treatment but who had not yet started, were included in the study. Tear osmolarity, tear break-up time (TBUT), Schirmer and Oxford grading of ocular surface staining were performed on all patients and dry eye symptomatology was assessed using the ocular surface disease index questionnaire (OSDI). RESULTS The mean osmolarity was 302.11 ± 16.22 mOsm/L in the aspirin group and 313.88 ± 19.57 mOsm/L in the control group (P < 0.01). The mean Schirmer's score was 24.16 ± 10.52 mm and 21.94 ± 10.11 mm (P = 0.232), TBUT was 13.61 ± 3.31 s and 10.39 ± 4.46 s (P < 0.01), OSDI score was 5.15 ± 5.98 and 16.94 ± 14.17 (P < 0.01), and Oxford score was 0.12 ± 0.33 and 0.12 ± 0.44 in aspirin and control groups, respectively (P = 0.99). Dry eye diagnosis was lower in the aspirin group, but statistical significance was present only in TBUT and osmolarity-based dry eye diagnosis (P ≤ 0.01). In terms of symptom-based dry eye diagnosis with the threshold of OSDI ≥23, none of the aspirin group had dry eye diagnosis, whereas 32.6% of the control group had the diagnosis (P < 0.01). CONCLUSIONS The use of low-dose aspirin might be great option for treatment of ocular surface inflammatory disease through increasing TBUT and decreasing tear osmolarity with a resultant symptomatic satisfaction.

Abstract
Introduction Benzalkonium chloride (BAK), included as a preservative in many topical treatments for glaucoma, induces significant toxicity and alters tear breakup time (TBUT). BAK-containing latanoprost, an ester prodrug of prostaglandin F2α, can cause ocular adverse events (AEs) associated with BAK. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of BAK-free latanoprost. Patients and methods A prospective, open-label, single-arm, multicenter, 8-week study in patients with primary open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension taking BAK-containing latanoprost for ≥12 months was performed. Patients were switched to BAK-free latanoprost ophthalmic solution 0.005% administered once daily, and eyes were assessed after 28 and 56 days. Primary efficacy and safety variables were TBUT and treatment-emergent AEs, respectively. Results At day 56, 40 eyes were evaluable. Mean TBUT increased significantly from baseline (3.67±1.60 seconds) to 5.03±2.64 and 6.06±3.39 seconds after 28 and 56 days of treatment with BAK-free latanoprost (P<0.0001). Ocular Surface Disease Index© (OSDI©) score also decreased significantly to 12.06±13.40 and 7.06±10.75 at 28 and 56 days, respectively, versus baseline (18.09±18.61, P<0.0001). In addition, inferior corneal staining score decreased significantly to 0.53 from baseline (0.85, P=0.0033). A reduction in conjunctival hyperemia and intraocular pressure was observed at both time points. No treatment-related serious AEs were evident and 12 (26.08%) treatment-emergent AEs occurred in seven patients, with eye pain and irritation being the most frequent. No clinically significant changes in vital signs or slit lamp examinations were observed. Conclusion Results indicate that switching from BAK-containing latanoprost to BAK-free latanoprost resulted in significant improvements in TBUT, OSDI© score, and inferior corneal staining score, and measurable reductions in conjunctival hyperemia score. Furthermore, BAK-free latanoprost was well tolerated with only mild-to-moderate and self-limiting AEs. BAK-free latanoprost appears to be effective in protecting ocular surface integrity in glaucoma patients but further studies are needed to confirm this beneficial effect.

Abstract
The aim of the study is to investigate the applicability of a newly developed corneal topographer in assessing tear film stability in Indian subjects. A prospective comparative study of 25 Indian subjects with dry eyes attending a tertiary eye care clinic in South India and 25 normal control subjects was conducted. The diagnosis of dry eye was made based on ocular surface disease index questionnaire. Non-invasive tear film break-up time (NI-TBUT) was measured using a new method based on a corneal topographer equipped with modified scan software. The correlations between the NI-TBUT and the traditional fluorescein tear film break-up time (F-TBUT), Schirmer I test values were determined. A total of 50 patients (100 eyes) were included. The values of NI-TBUT were significantly lower than the values of F-TBUT in both the cases (NI-TBUT 5.78 ± 0.8 s and F-TBUT 7.56 ± 0.5 s; p < 0.02) and controls (NI-TBUT 11.66 ± 1 s and F-TBUT 12.92 ± 1.2 s; p < 0.01). NI-TBUT values were significantly lower than the corresponding F-TBUT values in the varying grades of dry eyes. The mean NI-TBUT values in mild dry eyes was 6.42 ± 0.2 s, moderate dry eyes was 4.70 ± 0.3 s and in severe dry eyes was 2.32 ± 1.2 s. There was a significant difference in the NI-TBUT values for cases and controls (p < 0.001). There was a good correlation seen between the NI-TBUT values and the F-TBUT values, Schirmer I values and the ODSI scores. NI-TBUT was found to have a sensitivity of 86.1 % and a specificity of 81.1 % when the cut-off value was kept at 6.2 s. We investigated the performance of a non-invasive technique for measuring tear film stability to aid in the diagnosis of dry eye disease. It is a useful non-invasive objective method for the detection of dry eye, and its varying grades and may be useful in monitoring the efficacy of therapies for dry eye.

Abstract
Numerous brands and types of artificial tears are available on the market for the treatment of dysfunctional tear syndrome. Past literature has focused on comparing the components of these products on patient’s clinical improvement. The wide array of products on the market presents challenges to both clinicians and patients when trying to choose between available tear replacement therapies. Different formulations affect patients based on etiology and severity of disease. In order to provide an unbiased comparison between available tear replacement therapies, we conducted a literature review of existing studies and National Institutes of Health clinical trials on commercially available, brand name artificial tears. Outcomes evaluated in each study, as well as the percent of patients showing clinical and symptomatic improvement, were analyzed. Fifty-one studies evaluating different brands of artificial tears, and their efficacy were identified. Out of the 51 studies, 18 were comparison studies testing brand name artificial tears directly against each other. Nearly all formulations of artificial tears provided significant benefit to patients with dysfunctional tear syndrome, but some proved superior to others. From the study data, a recommended treatment flowchart was derived.

Abstract
Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of two ophthalmic solutions in patients with mild to moderate dry eye. Methods: We performed a prospective, 2-month-long, randomized, double-blind, single-center, parallel clinical trial to compare the efficacy and safety of two ophthalmic solutions for dry eye treatment. Patients were randomly assigned to one of the two treatment groups, study group or active-control group, and received one drop four times a day. The primary efficacy endpoint was to extend the tear film break-up time (TBUT) after 2 months of treatment. The Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI) was also evaluated. Safety measures were assessed by the presence of adverse events. Results: A total of 28 patients with mild to moderate dry eye were included in the per protocol analysis. TBUT was similar between groups at baseline (chondroitin sulfate and xanthan gum [CS/XG] group, 5.2 ± 2.3; Systane® group, 4.7 ± 2.6; P = 0.488), after 2 months of treatment, TBUT was still similar in both groups (CS/XG group, 6.1 ± 2.5; Systane® group, 7.3 ± 2.5; P = 0.088). Baseline OSDI was similar between the groups (CS/XG group, 18.8 ± 5.3; Systane® group, 19.8 ± 7.1; P = 0.810), but after 2 months of treatment, the OSDI was significantly lower in the CS/XG group (6.7 ± 5.7 versus 10.8 ± 6.4; P = 0.049). An adverse event was present in the CS/XG group, but it was not related to the treatment. Conclusions: In this population of patients with mild to moderate dry eye, treatment with CS/XG was as effective as treatment with Systane® with regard to TBUT; nevertheless, treatment in the CS/XG group was more effective at diminishing OSDI.

Abstract
Purpose To evaluate the effect of a new, prescription-only medical food supplement containing omega-3 and omega-6 essential fatty acids on dry eye signs and symptoms, with or without concomitant topical cyclosporine. Methods A total of 43 subjects were randomized and followed for 6 months. Group 1 (n = 23) was assigned to take two soft geltabs of the medical food supplement by mouth twice daily for 6 months. Group 2 (n = 20) was directed to take the medical food supplement in the same manner, along with topical cyclosporine, instilled twice daily during the last 3 months of the study. Subjects were evaluated at baseline, month 1, month 3, and month 6. Primary outcome measures included tear breakup time (TBUT), conjunctival staining, corneal staining, and change in subjective symptoms. Results Both groups had a statistically significant improvement in TBUT between baseline and month 6. In the food supplement only group, TBUT improved by 0.805 seconds from baseline to month 6. In the supplement/cyclosporine group, TBUT improved by 1.007 seconds from baseline. There was no statistically significant difference in TBUT between the two groups at baseline, month 3, or month 6. There were no significant differences in corneal or conjunctival staining between or within groups. Subjective symptoms were also improved in both groups. Conclusion Supplementation with the proper balance of omega-3 and omega-6 essential fatty acids improved TBUT and relieved patient symptoms. The addition of topical cyclosporine did not convey any statistically significant improvement in TBUT beyond that achieved by the supplement.
