Abstract
The recovery of raw materials offers an opportunity for applying the principles of circular bioeconomy. The phenolic composition of three underused wine byproducts (skin, seed, and bunch stem) was analyzed through UHPLC-QqQ-MS/MS to evaluate the intercultivar variability comparing red and white grape cultivars from La Rioja (Spain) and the influence of the winemaking, comparing conventional fermentation and carbonic maceration. We observed that the red skin, especially from Graciano, is rich in anthocyanins, whereas the white skin contains mainly phenolic acids, flavonols, and flavan-3-ols, with Maturana Blanca being the richest variety. Seeds are rich in flavan-3-ols and lignans with Maturana Blanca and Viura, respectively, the richest cultivars. Stems contain high amounts of flavan-3-ols, lignans, and stilbenes, with the red cultivars of Garnacha and Tempranillo being the richest samples. Carbonic maceration has a negative effect on the phenolic amount compared to conventional fermentation. In synthesis, we observed that each type of byproduct from red or white grape cultivars has a particular phenolic composition that can result in obtaining different ingredients with particular phenolic composition for target applications.

Abstract
Prostaglandins have stimulative influence on the human uterus and therefore were introduced to medical treatment in reproductive healthcare as labor inductors or abortifacients. The UHPLC-ESI-QqQ-MS/MS method was developed for six prostaglandins: carboprost, cloprostenol, dinoprost (PGF2α), dinoprostone (PGE2), misoprostol and sulprostone (substances for pregnancy termination) in pharmaceutical samples and was applied for the toxicological examination of pills containing misoprostol (collected during gynecological examination). There were used two internal standards: misoprostol-d5 and PGF2α-d4. The quantification of analytes was performed in the MRM mode. The linearity of method was in the range from 0.1 to 10 µg/mL, with a coefficient of determination above 0.997 (R2) for each compound. The precision and accuracy values did not exceed ±5.0%. Analysis of the pills revealed the presence of two substances: misoprostol and diclofenac. Misoprostol and diclofenac dose per sample were as follows: 608.8 ng (sample 1), 708.4 ng (sample 2), 618.8 ng (sample 3) and 67.7 mg (sample 1), 65.3 mg (sample 2) 67.3 mg (sample 3), respectively. A simple, precise and reliable method can be applied for routine examinations in terms of clinical and forensic toxicology examinations as well as in quality control of drugs for pharmaceutical purposes (original drugs and counterfeit medications).

Abstract
Glucosinolates (GSLs) and their degradation products in radish confer plant defense, promote human health, and generate pungent flavor. However, the intact GSLs in radish have not been investigated comprehensively yet. Here, an accurate qualitative and quantitative analyses of 15 intact GSLs from radish, including four major GSLs of glucoraphasatin (GRH), glucoerucin (GER), glucoraphenin (GRE), and 4-methoxyglucobrassicin (4MGBS), were conducted using UHPLC-HRMS/MS in combination with UHPLC-QqQ-MS/MS. Simultaneously, three isomers of hexyl GSL, 3-methylpentyl GSL, and 4-methylpentyl GSL were identified in radish. The highest content of GSLs was up to 232.46 μmol/g DW at the 42 DAG stage in the 'SQY' taproot, with an approximately 184.49-fold increase compared to the lowest content in another sample. That the GSLs content in the taproots of two radishes fluctuated in a similar pattern throughout the five vegetative growth stages according to the metabolic profiling, whereas the GSLs content in the '55' leaf steadily decreased over the same period. Additionally, the proposed biosynthetic pathways of radish-specific GSLs were elucidated in this study. Our findings will provide an abundance of qualitative and quantitative data on intact GSLs, as well as a method for detecting GSLs, thus providing direction for the scientific progress and practical utilization of GSLs in radish.

Abstract
Synthetic cathinones comprise a large amount of substances present on the dark market, which creates an undeniably worldwide problem and still is posing a threat. A 22-year-old man was brought to the Emergency Room from a party, where he had ingested orally 20 g of mephedrone. The man exhibited a disorder of consciousness with no logical verbal contact and dilated pupils. Moreover, a metabolic acidosis was present. The patient died after an hour from an admission to the ER. Blood and vitreous humor collected during an autopsy were analyzed with the use of an ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC-QqQ-MS/MS) with the use of C18 column in multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) mode. Both biological specimens were prepared using liquid-liquid extraction (LLE) with the use of ethyl acetate and 0.5 M ammonium carbonate water solution (pH 9). The limit of quantification (LOQ) of the method was 0.5 ng/ml in both matrices; precision and accuracy values did not exceed ±15%. Recovery of the method was in the range of 86.1%-102.7%. Determined concentrations of 4-CMC were 8542 and 9874 ng/ml in blood and vitreous humor, respectively. Other substances present in both biological materials were: atropine, diazepam, lidocaine, and its metabolite norlidocaine, as well as methcathinone and ethyl alcohol. The concentration presented in here described case is the highest ever reported 4-CMC concentration. Important aspect is also receiving other NPS by recreational users than intended, which lead to accidental poisoning (in presented case user assumed 4-CMC was 4-MMC).

Abstract
The aim of the study was the development and validation of the UHPLC-QqQ-MS/MS method for the determination of mifepristone in human blood as well as the identification and quantification of its metabolites after self-induced pharmacological abortion. The metabolic pathway in humans was proposed after examination of an authentic casework. The fast and simple preanalytical procedure was successfully applied (pH9, tert-butyl-methyl ether). The validation parameters of the method were as follows: limit of quantification: 0.5 ng/mL; coefficients of determination: >0.999 (R2), intra- and inter-day accuracy and precision values did not exceed ± 13.2%. The recovery and matrix effect were in the range of 96.3−114.7% and from −3.0 to 14.7%, respectively. Toxicological analysis of the mother’s blood (collected the day after the pregnancy termination) revealed the presence of five compounds: mifepristone (557.4 ng/mL), N-desmethyl-mifepristone (638.7 ng/mL), 22-OH-mifepristone (176.9 ng/mL), N,N-didesmethyl-mifepristone (144.5 ng/mL) and N-desmethyl-hydroxy-mifepristone (qualitatively). To our knowledge, the study presented in this paper is the first report on the concentrations of mifepristone and its metabolites in maternal blood samples after performing a self-induced abortion. The established UHPLC-QqQ-MS/MS method is suitable for forensic toxicological analysis as well as in terms of clinical toxicology in future investigations (examination of pharmacokinetics, bioavailability and metabolism of RU-486).

Abstract
The aim of this study was establishment of an UHPLC-QqQ-MS/MS method for the deter-mination of misoprostol acid in biological specimens in cases of pharmacological abortions. Forensic toxicological examination was performed in three different biological samples (whole blood, placenta and fetal liver). The validation parameters of the method were as follows: limit of detection: 25 pg/mL; limit of quantification: 50 pg/mL, coefficient of determination: >0.999 (R2), intra- and interday accuracy and precision: not greater than 13.7%. The recovery and matrix effect were in the range of 88.3−95.1% and from −11.7 to −4.9%, respectively. Toxicological analysis of the mother’s blood (collected two days after pregnancy termination) did not reveal any abortifacients; however, misoprostol acid was found in the placenta (793 pg/g) and fetal liver (309 pg/g). The second case involved a fetus found near a garbage container. The concentration of misoprostol acid in the placenta was 2332 pg/g. In the presented study, an extensive literature review of misoprostol pharmacokinetics studies was performed. To our knowledge, the UHPLC-QqQ-MS/MS technique presented in this paper is the first quantitative method applied for forensic toxicological purposes. In addition, postmortem concentrations of misoprostol acid in miscarried fetuses due to illegal abortions were reported for the first time.

Abstract
The aim of the research was to establish a sensitive method for the quantification of diclofenac in postmortem samples. The developed method was applied in six cases: three fetuses in which the use of abortion pills by their mothers was suspected, one case of duodenal ulcer perforation, one case of traffic accident with fatal outcome, and one acute renal failure in which the distribution of diclofenac was examined. The analyses were performed using liquid-liquid extraction of postmortem samples and the quantification of diclofenac via ultra-high performance liquid chromatography, coupled with triple quadrupole tandem mass spectrometry. Gradient elution using a C18 column was applied. Electrospray ionization measurement in positive multiple reaction monitoring mode was used. Diclofenac-d4 was used as an internal standard. The validation parameters were as follows: lower limit of quantification: 0.5 ng/mL, linearity of calibration curve: 0.5-500 ng/mL, intra- and interday accuracies and precisions: not greater than 15%; recovery values: 72.0-102.2%, and matrix effect: 2.2-28.0%. The developed method enabled the determination of diclofenac in human postmortem biological fluids (blood, urine, vitreous humor, bile, and stomach content), tissues (placenta, kidney, liver, and heart), and in exhumated fetus bones, with high recovery, sensitivity, precision, and accuracy.

Abstract
Reliable analysis of phenolic compounds in fatty matrices is a challenging task. In this work, a robust analytical method was developed and validated for 55 phenolic compounds employing QuEChERS (quick, efficient, cheap, easy, rugged and safe) and Enhanced Matrix Removal (EMR)-lipid cleanup in 96-well plates for sample preparation, coupled with ultra-high performance liquid chromatography with triple quadrupole mass spectrometry (UHPLC-QqQ-MS/MS). Seven high-fat matrices of pork brain, belly and liver; horse serum, beef, salmon and avocado were explored for method validation and led to promising stepwise recoveries of extraction, clean-up, drying-reconstitution of most analytes ranging from 75% to 113%, and with an accuracy of 78%∼117%, except for six catechin-analogues. The matrix removal efficiency of EMR was determined using UHPLC-quadruple time of flight (QTOF)-MS, and results indicated that 56%∼77% of co-extractives were removed. This method would be readily extended to wide range of applications demanding high-throughput and sensitive analysis of phenolic compounds in fatty samples.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Juices are currently a fast-growing segment in the fruit and vegetable industry sector. However, there are still no reports on the diversity of the phytochemical profile and health-promoting properties of commercial sea buckthorn (Hippophaë rhamnoides) juices. This study aimed to identify and quantify phytoprostanes, phytofurans by ultra high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with triple quadrupole mass spectrometry (UHPLC-QqQ-MS/MS), tocopherols, tocotrienols by ultra-performance liquid chromatography coupled with a fluorescence detector (UPLC-FL), carotenoids, and free amino acids by ultra-performance liquid chromatography coupled with a photodiode detector-quadrupole and tandem time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UPLC-PDA-Q/TOF-MS), and assess their anti-cholinergic, anti-diabetic, anti-obesity, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant potential by in vitro assays of commercial sea buckthorn juices. RESULTS Phytoprostanes (PhytoPs) and phytofurans (PhytoFs) in sea buckthorn juices were identified for the first time. Juices contained eight F1 -, D1 -, B1 - and L1 -phytoprostanes and one phytofuran (32.31-1523.51 ng and up to 101.47 μg/100 g dry weight (DW)), four tocopherol congeners (22.23-94.08 mg 100 g-1 DW) and three tocotrienols (5.93-25.34 mg 100 g-1 DW). Eighteen carotenoids were identified, including ten xanthophylls, seven carotenes and phytofluene, at a concentration of 133.65 to 839.89 mg 100 g-1 DW. Among the 20 amino acids (175.92-1822.60 mg 100 g-1 DW), asparagine was dominant, and essential and conditionally essential amino acids constituted 11 to 41% of the total. The anti-enzyme and antioxidant potential of juices correlated selectively with the composition. CONCLUSION Sea buckthorn juice can be a valuable dietary source of vitamins E and A, oxylipins and amino acids, used in the prevention of metabolic syndrome, inflammation, and neurodegenerative processes. The differentiation of the composition and the bioactive potential of commercial juices indicate that, for the consumer, it should be important to choose juices from the declared berry cultivars and crops. © 2021 Society of Chemical Industry.

Abstract
Raspberry ketone (RK) is a major flavor compound in red raspberries, and it has been marketed as a popular weight-loss dietary supplement with high potential in accumulating in fatty tissues. However, challenges in extracting and characterizing RK and its associated phenolic compounds in fatty tissues persist due to the complex matrix effect. In this work, we reported a high-throughput sample preparation method for RK and 25 related phenolic compounds in white adipose tissues using an improved micro-scale QuEChERS (quick, efficient, cheap, easy, rugged and safe) approach with enhanced matrix removal (EMR)-lipid cleanup in 96-well plates, followed by UHPLC-QqQ-MS/MS analysis. The absolute recovery was 73-105% at the extraction step, and achieved 71-96% at the EMR cleanup step. The EMR cleanup removed around 66% of total lipids in the acetonitrile extract as profiled by UHPLC-QTOF-MS/MS. The innovative introduction of a reversed-phase C18 sorbent into the extract significantly improved the analytes' recovery during SpeedVac drying. The final accuracy achieved 80-120% for most analytes. Overall, this newly developed and validated method could serve as a powerful tool for analyzing RK and related phenolic compounds in fatty tissues.

Abstract
A modified, efficient, and sensitive acetate-buffered QuEChERS extraction method was developed for the quantitative study of 16 commonly applied multiclass pesticides on date palm fruit. The date palm fruit samples were rehydrated by adding water during comminution. Samples were extracted with acidified acetonitrile, buffered with acetate salt. To minimize the matrix interferences, clean-up of the rehydrated samples was optimized by comparison with different sorbents (alumina, silica gel, florisil, primary secondary amine (PSA), and chitosan). The method validation parameters were evaluated as per European Union (EU) guidelines (SANTE/12682/2019). For 16 pesticides, % recovery of 69 to 121.8% with an associated precision (RSD ≤ 20%) was achieved at the fortification levels that were 0.5 to 2 times of European Union maximum residue limits (EU-MRLs). The validated method was successfully employed for the analysis of date palm fruit samples (n = 20) collected from various markets. Forty percent (40%) of samples (n = 8) were found to be contaminated with various pesticides. The most frequently detected residues were carbofuran, carbaryl, metalaxyl, tebuconazole, triazophos, and pyriproxyfen. The concentration of all the detected pesticides in real samples was below the EU-MRLs.

Abstract
Burdock root is the root of Arctium lappa L., a plant of the Compositae family, which has the effects of dispersing wind and heat, detoxifying and reducing swelling. In order to better control the quality of burdock root, a screening study of quality control indicators was carried out. The current research combines biological activity evaluation with chemical analysis to screen and identify the biologically active compounds of burdock root as chemical components for the quality control of herbal medicine. The efficacy of 10 batches of ethanol extracts of burdock roots was evaluated by a tumor inhibition experiment in S180 tumor-bearing mice. The five main chemical components of these extracts were simultaneously quantitatively measured by ultra-high performance liquid chromatography combined with triple quadrupole mass spectrometry. Pearson correlation analysis was used to establish the relationship between these extracts' biological activity and chemical properties. The results showed that chlorogenic acid, caffeic acid and cynarin were positively correlated with the effect of inhibiting tumor growth, and further bioassays confirmed this conclusion. In conclusion, chlorogenic acid, caffeic acid and cynarin can be used as quality control markers for burdock root's antitumor effect.

Abstract
An ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-triple quadrupole tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC-QqQ-MS/MS) method was established and validated for the simultaneous quantification of eight cyanogenic glucosides (CNGs) in agri-food. The eight CNGs were linamarin, lotaustralin, linustatin, neolinustatin, taxiphyllin, amygdalin, dhurrin and prunasin. CNGs were extracted with aqueous methanol and cleaned via solid-phase extraction. Analytes were separated with a C18 column via gradient elution. MS/MS analysis was performed with electrospray ionisation in positive mode. Quantification was performed in multiple reaction monitoring mode. Satisfactory validation results were obtained in terms of linearity, sensitivity, precision and accuracy, matrix effect and stability. The method was applied in typical cyanogenic agri-food. CNGs in cassava, linseed, bamboo, sorghum, apricot, almond and lima bean were analyzed.

Abstract
The impact of secondary metabolites on fruit quality, plant growth and human health has led to an increased demand for analytical methods to characterize and quantify these metabolites in recent years. A versatile, sensitive and rapid method based on UHPLC-QqQ-MS/MS was developed for simultaneous qualitation and quantitation of coumarins, furocoumarins, flavonoids and phenolic acids. The chromatographic elution and multiple reaction monitoring mode transitions were optimized to achieve good separation and accurate quantitation of 47 analytes, including 13 groups of isomers, during a single 13 min chromatographic run. This method was validated with good precision and recoveries, wide linear ranges and low limits of detection and quantitation (0.014-1.50 μg L-1). The validated method was further applied to quantify the analytes in flavedo, albedo and pulp from two pummelo varieties, C. grandis 'Shatianyu' and C. grandis 'Guanximiyu'. This method combines high sensitivity, good selectivity, and short chromatographic run time.

Abstract
ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE Venenum Bufonis, a product of the secretions of Bufo gargarizans Cantor or B. melanostictus Schneider, possessed an array of pharmacological activities, such as cardiotonic, anti-tumor, antinociceptive, anti-inflammatory, anesthetic and antimicrobial activities. However, there were few efficient methods for quality evaluation of Venenum Bufonis medicinal materials and its related Chinese patent medicines. AIM OF THE STUDY To establish an effective method for quality assessment of crude drugs and Chinese proprietary medicines of Venenum Bufonis, and explore the relationship of primary compounds - target - pathway - disease through a series of network databases. MATERIALS AND METHODS An ultra-high performance liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC-QqQ-MS/MS) method was developed and validated to simultaneously determine 14 bufadienolides for quantitative analysis of 71 batches of crude drugs and 20 kinds of Chinese patent medicines of Venenum Bufonis. Multiple reaction monitoring with good specificity and accuracy was applied to monitor the 14 bufadienolides in positive mode. RESULTS The methodology was validated with good specificity, precision, stability, repeatability and recovery. The low limits of quantification were in the range of 0.1-2.7 ng/mL. The relative standard deviation values for intra- and inter-day precisions ranged from 0.98% to 6.3% and from 2.39% to 6.76%, respectively. The recovery was varied from 87.78% to 110.57% for crude drugs and 88.32%-100.96% for Chinese proprietary medicine (Shexiang Baoxin Pill). The contents of 14 analytes in 71 batches of crude drugs and 20 sorts of Chinese proprietary medicines were procured, the results showed that the contents of crude drugs collected from the market exhibited great variations. Furthermore, 13 batches of crude drugs were identified as counterfeit with no bufadienolides detected. In addition, the total contents of bufadienolides in the same drug showed great difference among products from various manufacturers or brands. Subsequently, 9 bufadienolides with the higher contents were applied to screen the anti-tumor effect by network pharmacology, and 8 pathways which had prior correlation with bufadienolides were disclosed. CONCLUSION This method could be used for quality assessment of crude drugs and Chinese patent medicines of Venenum Bufonis, and the data could be served as the fundamental basis for drug research and development of Venenum Bufonis.

Abstract
The aim of this study was to develop and validate an improved, simple, and sensitive method for the simultaneous determination of seven types (cadaverine, CAD; hexylamine, HEX; histamine, HIS; phenylethylamine, PEA; putrescine, PUT; tyramine, TYR) of biogenic amines (BAs) in wine matrices. For this reason, a modified QuEChERS combined with ultra-performance liquid chromatography coupled to a triple quadrupole mass spectrometry (UHPLC-QqQ-MS/MS) method was investigated. The optimization of UHPLC-QqQ-MS/MS separation and QuEChERS procedure was performed. Under optimum conditions, the excellent chromatographic performance of the whole separation was accomplished within 6.3 min analyzing time. Meanwhile, the recoveries ranged from 77.2% to 101.7%, while relative standard deviation (RSD) remained between 0.0% and 9.4%. The limit of detection (LOD, 0.50–1.00 µg/L) and the limit of quantification (LOQ, 1.65–3.30 µg/L) were lower than those permitted by legislation in food matrices, which demonstrated the high sensitivity and applicability of this efficient method. This validated method was also applied in a pilot study to analyze BAs in 81 wine samples from Hexi Corridor Region (Gansu Province, Northwest China), CAD, HEX, HIS, PEA, PUT, and TYR were detected to varying degrees in the samples. However, when compared with the existing standards, the BAs in all 81 wine samples did not exceed the prescribed limit value or toxic dose (2–40 mg/L). Moreover, a statistical approach was also conducted using Pearson correlation analysis, and to evaluate their concentrations in terms of wine parameters (storage time, grape variety, wine type, and basic physicochemical index). The results showed that, among the seven kinds of BAs, the concentration of HIS had a certain correlation with alcoholic degree and grape variety. In addition, the level of PEA had a certain correlation with the wine pH and wine storage time. It is worth noting that this seems to be the first report regarding the application of QuEChERS-UHPLC-QqQ-MS/MS in the analysis of BAs in wine in this region.

Abstract
Brassica vegetables are of great interest due to their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity, being responsible for the glucosinolates (GLS) and their hydroxylated derivatives, the isothiocyanates (ITC). Nevertheless, these compounds are quite unstable when these vegetables are cooked. In order to study this fact, the influence of several common domestic cooking practices on the degradation of GLS and ITC in two novel Brassica spp.: broccolini (Brassica oleracea var italica Group x alboglabra Group) and kale (Brassica oleracea var. sabellica L.) was determined. On one hand, results showed that both varieties were rich in health-promoter compounds, broccolini being a good source of glucoraphanin and sulforaphane (≈79 and 2.5 mg 100 g−1 fresh weight (F.W.), respectively), and kale rich in glucoiberin and iberin (≈12 and 0.8 mg 100 g−1 F.W., respectively). On the other hand, regarding cooking treatments, stir-frying and steaming were suitable techniques to preserve GLS and ITC (≥50% of the uncooked samples), while boiling was deleterious for the retention of these bioactive compounds (20–40% of the uncooked samples). Accordingly, the appropriate cooking method should be considered an important factor to preserve the health-promoting effects in these trending Brassica.

Abstract
Accumulating evidence indicates that the health impact of dietary phenolic compounds, including the principal grape-derived polyphenols, (+)‑catechin and (-)‑epicatechin, is exerted by not only the parent compounds but also their phenolic metabolites generated by the gut microbiota. In this work, a new high-throughput, sensitive and reproducible analytical method was developed employing ultra-high performance liquid chromatography coupled with triple quadrupole tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC-QqQ-MS/MS) for the simultaneous analysis of 16 microbial-generated phenolic acid metabolites (PAMs) along with their precursors, catechin and epicatechin. Following optimizing the solvent system, LC conditions and MS parameters, method validation was carried out to evaluate the sensitivity, selectivity, accuracy and precision of the proposed method, and to ensure promising recovery of all analytes extracted from the matrix prior to bioanalysis. Results showed that the optimized analytical method allowed successful confirmation and quantitation of all analytes under dynamic multiple reaction monitoring mode using trans‑cinnamic acid‑d7 as an internal standard (I.S.). Excellent sensitivity and linearity were obtained for all analytes, with lower limits of detection (LLODs) and lower limits of quantification (LLOQs) in the ranges of 0.225-2.053 ng/mL and 0.698-8.116 ng/mL, respectively. By examining blank matrix spiked with standard mixture at different concentration levels, promising recoveries at two spiking levels (low level, 91.2-115%; high level 90.2-121%), and excellent precision (RSD < 10%) were obtained. This method was then successfully applied to an in vitro study where catechin/epicatechin-enriched broth samples were anaerobically fermented with gut microbes procured from healthy human donors. All sources of bacteria employed showed remarkable activity in metabolizing grape polyphenols and distinct variations in the production of PAMs. The successful application of this method in the in vitro fermentation assays demonstrates its suitability for high-throughput analysis of polyphenol metabolites, particularly catechin/epicatechin-derived PAMs, in biological studies.

Abstract
Poria cocos (Schw.) Wolf (PC) is a well-known saprophytic fungus, and its sclerotium without the epidermis (PCS) is widely used in traditional Chinese medicine and as a functional food in many countries. PCS is normally collected from multiple geographical regions, but whether and how the quality of PCS correlates with where it grows have not been determined. This correlation could be significant both for quality control and optimum utilization of PCS as a natural resource. In this study, a qualitative fingerprint profiling method performed by ultra-performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC) with diode array detection (DAD) combining quadrupole time-of-flight-mass spectrometry (QTOF-MS/MS) and a quantitative UHPLC coupled with triple quadrupole mass spectrometry (QqQ-MS/MS) approach were established to investigate whether and how the quality of PCS correlates with its collection location. A standard fingerprint of PCS was generated by median simulation of 25 tested samples collected from four main producing areas of China, and similarity analysis was applied to evaluate the similarities between the fingerprints of samples and the standard fingerprint. Twenty three common peaks occurring in the fingerprint were unequivocally or tentatively identified by UHPLC-QTOF-MS/MS. Meanwhile, principal component analysis (PCA), supervised orthogonal partial least squares-discriminate analysis (OPLS-DA) and hierarchical cluster analysis (HCA) were employed to classify 25 batches of PCS samples into four groups, which were highly consistent with the four geographical regions. Ten compounds were screened out as potential markers to distinguish the quality of PCS. Nine triterpene acids, including five compounds that played important roles in the clusters between different samples collected from the four collection locations, were simultaneously quantified by using the multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) mode of UHPLC-QqQ-MS/MS. The current strategy not only clearly expounded the correlation between quality and geographical origins of PCS, but also provided a fast, accurate and comprehensive qualitative and quantitative method for assessing the quality of PCS.

Abstract
The aim of the present study was to determine the contents of bioactive compounds present in brown, green and red species of propolis cultivated in the Brazilian northeast states of Alagoas and Sergipe. The contents of phenolic compounds, flavonoids and antioxidant activity (DPPH, ABTS+, FRAP, ORAC) were determined. Identification and quantification of phenolic and flavonoid compounds were performed by using UHPLC-QqQ-MS/MS system. The results revealed high contents of total phenolics and flavonoids. Among the three species, the antioxidant potential had higher capacity in the red propolis. The presence of some of bioactive compounds viz. acacetin, artepellin C, eriodictyol, gallic acid, isorhamnetin, protocatechuic acid, vanillin and vanillic acid in Brazilian red propolis is reported for the first time in this work. Positive correlation between total phenolics versus the FRAP and ORAC methods was established which led to conclusion that antioxidant activity of propolis is mainly due to its phenolic compounds.

Abstract
Despite the wide use of extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) to combat several diseases, the antidiabetic and anti-cholinesterase activity of Spanish EVOO have not been assessed. In order to evaluate which compounds are responsible for these activities of five Spanish EVOOs, in addition to flavonoids, we investigated for the first time the effect of the contents of carotenoids, fatty acids (FAs), and phytoprostanes (PhytoPs) on four enzymes: α-glucosidase, α-amylase, acetylcholinesterase, and butyrylcholinesterase. The extracts of these five Spanish EVOOs were found to contain three flavones, three carotenoids, six FAs, and seven classes of PhytoPs. The samples exhibited no in vitro anti-cholinesterase activity but presented strong antidiabetic activity, in the order: 'Arbequina'≈'Picual'≈'Cuquillo'>'Hojiblanca'>'Cornicabra'. The samples showed a higher in vitro hypoglycemic effect than individual or mixed standards, possibly due to interaction between multiple identified compounds and/or a very complex multivariate interaction between other factors.

Abstract
F4-neuroprostanes, F3-neuroprostanesn-6 DPA, and F2-dihomo-isoprostanes, metabolites of non-enzymatic lipid peroxidation of polyunsaturated fatty acids [docosahexaenoic acid, n-6 docosapentanoic acid, and adrenic acid respectively], have become important biomarkers for oxidative stress in several diseases like epilepsy and alzheimer. These biomarkers and the 15-F2t-isoprostane (also known as 8-iso-PGF2α), a F2-isoprostane isomer measured as reference oxidative marker at systemic level, were analyzed by UHPLC-QqQ-MS/MS in the urine of 60 renal recipients from cadaveric donors of the Nephrology Unit of the University Hospital Virgen de la Arrixaca, at six different times during the first six months after renal transplantation, and were compared with a control group of 60 healthy subjects from the same hospital. A total of 11 metabolites were analyzed and different patterns were observed. A tendency to decrease was observed in three metabolites (4-epi-4-F3t- NeuroPn-6 DPA, ent-7(RS)-7-F2t-dihomo-IsoP, and ent-7(S)-7-F2t-dihomo-IsoP) and in our reference oxidative marker (15-F2t-IsoP) when kidney function improved and the excretion of urine proteins decreased. These results suggest that these three biomarkers of oxidative stress could be useful to assess renal function in the postransplant phase. Unfortunately, little is known about this kind of biomarker in this cohort of patients, so further investigation would be required in the clinical field to clarify the relationship between oxidative stress and the graft function, as well as the usefulness of these biomarkers as rejection markers.

Abstract
Phytoprostanes, autoxidation products of α-linolenic acid, have been studied in several plant species, but information regarding the natural occurrence of this large family of biologically active oxidized lipids in macroalgae is still scarce. In this work, the free phytoprostane composition of 24 macroalgae species belonging to Chlorophyta, Phaeophyta, and Rhodophyta was determined through a recently validated UHPLC-QqQ-MS/MS method. The phytoprostane profiles varied greatly among all samples, F1t-phytoprostanes and L1-phytoprostanes being the predominant and minor classes, respectively. No correlation between the amounts of α-linolenic acid in alga material and phytoprostane content was found. Therefore, it was hypothesized that the observed variability could be species-specific or result from interspecific interactions. This study provides new insight about the occurrence of phytoprostanes in macroalgae and opens doors for future exploitation of these marine photosynthetic organisms as sources of potentially bioactive oxylipins, encouraging their incorporation in food products and nutraceutical and pharmaceutical preparations for human health.

Abstract
Phytochemicals content, including several families such as phenolic acids, isoflavones, flavones, flavonols, isothiocyanates, and glucosinolates, was determined in pre-cooked convenience vegetables by ultra high performance liquid chromatography coupled to triple quadrupole tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC-QqQ-MS/MS). It was observed that there is not a common behavior of the individual concentration of phytochemicals during the lifetime and cooking of the matrix, and compounds change their concentration without a specific trend. It was observed that neither lifetime nor cooking process have significant effects on the total content of phytochemicals except in broccoli, although some changes in the individual content of the target compounds were observed, suggesting that interconversion processes could be performed during the lifetime and/or cooking process of the product.
