[Professor FU Wen-bin's experience in treatment of mental disorder with acupuncture and moxibustion from perspective of "psychosomatic medicine"]

The paper summarizes the ideas and characteristics of acupoint selection in treatment of mental disorder with acupuncture and moxibustion by professor FU Wen-bin. Professor FU believes that mental disorder is manifested as the simultaneous illness of "heart" and "body". On the base of "holism" for the unity of body and mind, professor FU proposes the treating idea as "soothing the liver, regulating the mind and focusing on the heart and the gallbladder in treatment". In clinical practice, the acupoint prescription on specifically regulating and harmonizing yin and yang is composed to calm down the mind. The eight confluent points and back-shu points of five zang organs are selected to regulate zangfu functions. The "ghost" points, the points on the second line of bladder meridian and the acupoints with specific effect are used to tranquilize the mind, open the orifices and consolidate therapeutic effect. Meanwhile, the complicated symptoms are also considered in treatment. The integrative and holistic pattern of acupuncture and moxibustion therapy as "acupuncture at the top priority, followed by moxibustion, and consolidation at the end" achieves the co-regulation of qi and blood and tranquilization for both the mental and the physical.

[Professor JIN Ya-pei's experience in the treatment of perimenopausal insomnia with navel acupuncture combined with body acupuncture]

Professor JIN Ya-pei 's thinking on the diagnosis and treatment of perimenopausal insomnia and the characteristics of acupuncture and moxibustion were summarized. Professor JIN Ya-pei believes that the pathogenesis of perimenopausal insomnia is imbalance of yin and yang, and disharmony of the heart and the kidney. Additionally, it is also closely related to liver stagnation and spleen deficiency. The syndrome differentiation and treatment principle of traditional Chinese medicine is combined with the theory of I Ching. Navel acupuncture is adopted at the points around the umbilicus to achieve the tonification for the deficiency condition and the reducing for the excess one. Additionally, the body acupuncture is used to regulate menstruation. The coordination of these two acupuncture regimens achieves the significant effect on perimenopausal insomnia, which provides a new reference and approach to the clinical treatment of perimenopausal insomnia.

[LIN Guo-hua's experience in treating dry eye syndrome with Lingnan fire needling]

Professor LIN Guo-hua is the representative inheritor of Lingnan fire needling therapy. He proposed that the clinical application of Lingnan fire needling is mainly based on pattern differentiation according to eight priciples, as well as in coordination with the theories of meridians and zang-fu organs. He believes that dry eye syndrome can be treated from the aspects of deficiency of liver and kidney, heart yin deficiency, and qi and yin deficiency. Through deeply digging the connotation of ancient classics, and combined his clinical practice using Lingnan fire needling, professor LIN created a unique therapy that select "Neichengqi"as the main acupoint combined with Xialeidian, Dagukong (EX-UE 5), Xiaogukong (EX-UE 6) and Shaoze (SI 1) in the treatment of dry eye syndrome. In this paper, from the etiology and pathogenesis of dry eye syndrome and therapeutic characteristics of Lingnan fire needling, the thoughts of syndrome differentiation and characteristics of acupoints selection of professor LIN were analyzed by a typical case, and it is expect to enrich the clinical treatment plan for dry eye syndrome.

[Experience of acupuncture and medication for lumbar disc herniation]

The combination of acupuncture and medication is not the simple adding of the two treatments, but identifying the etiology and pathogenesis behind the disease at first, followed dynamic integration of different therapies according to the characteristics of acupuncture-moxibustion and medication. Professor LI Zi-ping believes that a more comprehensive understanding based on multi-system syndrome differentiation is essential for lumbar disc herniation. In treatment, the pan-long needling technique combined with flying needling could regulate collaterals and adjust spirit; acupoint injection could transfer medication into acupoints; herb decoction could eliminate the pathogens and strengthen the root; the balanced cupping combined with exercise therapy could regulate tendons and prevent recurrence. The principle of the combination of acupuncture and medication could organically integrate the advantages of different therapies, so their effects can be enhanced or supplemented. This method has achieved superior effects in clinical treatment.

[Clinical experience of professor WANG Ju-yi in channel palpation treatment for polymyalgia rheumatica]

Professor WANG Ju-yi has gradually improved the clinical application of channel palpation treatment based on his more than 50 years clinical practice, and has accumulated rich experience in acupuncture treatment of polymyalgia rheumatica. He believes that "wind, cold and dampness" are the external causes of the disease, physical factors, uncomfortable mood and uncontrolled diet are the internal causes. The meridian-collateral theory is utilized in the diagnosis and detection of the disorders of taiyin, taiyang and jueyin meridians, internal and external causes are solved by expelling the wind, warming the channel to eliminate the coldness, transforming the dampness to relieve pain and regulating the qi activity. Three cases of clinical application on polymyalgia rheumatica were included in this paper.

[Professor AI Bing-wei's treatment experience of acupuncture for anovulatory infertility]

The clinical experience of professor AI Bing-wei for anovulatory infertility is introduced from three perspectives of zangfu, syndromes and menstrual period in this article. Professor AI believes that ovulation disorders mainly involves the liver, spleen and kidney, and four syndromes, including spleen-kidney yang-deficiency syndrome, liver-depression and kidney-deficiency syndrome, phlegm-dampness obstruction syndrome, qi-stagnation and blood-stasis syndrome are common in clinic. The combination of syndrome differentiation and menstruation differentiation should be adopted in treatment. The syndrome differentiation should be mainly applied. The acupoints for excess syndrome include Quchi (LI 11), Hegu (LI 4), Tianshu (ST 25), Sanyinjiao (SP 6) and Neiting (ST 44); while the acupoints for deficiency syndrome include Zhongwan (CV 12), Taixi (KI 3), Ganshu (BL 18) and Qimen (LR 14). In auricular acupuncture, kou (CO₁), wei (CO₄), pi (CO₁₃), neifenmi (CO₁₈), sanjiao (CO₁₇), dachang (CO₇) and shenmen (TF₄) could be selected for excess syndrome, while wei (CO₄), pi (CO₁₃), neifenmi (CO₁₈), zigong (TF₂), pizhixia (AT₄), shen (CO₁₀) and luanchao could be selected for deficiency syndrome. Moxibustion can be added to treat the patients with deficiency syndrome or cold syndrome. The menstruation differentiation could be used as auxiliary method. In the later period of menstruation, strengthening-spleen and promoting-blood method is applied and Zhongwan (CV 12), Guanyuan (CV 4), Qihai (CV 6), Zigong (EX-CA 1), Sanyinjiao (SP 6) and Zusanli (ST 36) are selected; in the intermenstrual period, tonifying-kidney and nourishing-qi, warming-yang and nourishing-yin method is applied and Shenshu (BL 23), Yaoyangguan (GV 3), Qihai (CV 6), Guanyuan (CV 4), Zhongji (CV 3), Zigong (EX-CA 1), Zusanli (ST 36), Sanyinjiao (SP 6) and Hegu (LI 4) are selected; in the earlier period of menstruation, soothing-liver and tonifying-kidney, promoting-qi and relieving-depression method is applied and Taichong (LR 3), Qimen (LR 14), Luanchao (Extra), Zigong (EX-CA 1) and Xuehai (SP 10) are selected; during menstruation, Taixi (KI 3), Xuehai (SP 10) and Sanyinjiao (SP 6) can be added to nourish kidney, nourish blood, promote blood circulation and regulate menstruation to promote oogenesis. In addition, B-ultrasonography can be used to monitor ovulation and guide intercourse to improve pregnancy rate.

[Experience of professor LI Yingkun treating tic disorder with acupuncture]

Professor LI Yingkun establishes "scalp acupuncture line" guided by the scalp acupuncture points of international standardization and traditional meridian theory, which can be used to treat tic disorder. With a case, professor LI Yingkun's needling experience for tic disorder is introduced in detail and summarized in order to provide reference for the treatment of the disease.

[Professor ZHAO Jiping's thoughts and methods of penetration needling]

As a vital part of acupuncture and moxibustion,the theory of penetration needling obviously lags behind the practice. This article summarizes the thoughts andmethods of penetration needling by professor ZHAO Jiping. Based on the three basic elements of penetrating acupuncture, including the acupoint, needle and manipulation, the academic origins, the application of penetrating acupuncture at present and the clinical cases are reviewed; the essential content and the extension meaning of needle penetration are summarized, which is based on the identification of the location, pathology and characteristics of disease, combined with the characteristics of acupoints and the tissue structure of the part, we quantify the intensity of stimulation, so as to provide featured reference clinical practice.
