Publishing in the Oncology Nursing Forum: Nurse Authors, We Need You

In late July and early August, I had the opportunity to attend the International Academy of Nursing Editors annual conference in Dublin, Ireland. The International Academy of Nursing Editors is an international collaborative.

2020: A Time for Contemplation and Action

Depending on which interpretation of the Gregorian and other calendars that you may believe to be the most accurate, the new decade either began on January 1, 2020, or will begin January 1, 2021. In any case, the contemplation of decades and time passing offers a time for appraisal and reflection, a chance to step outside of the day-to-day routines to consider less urgent, and perhaps more important issues that we will face in the near future.

Moving Forward, Together

This past summer, while attending a genetics conference in Bar Harbor, Maine, I was informed that I would be the incoming editor of the Oncology Nursing Forum (ONF). Since then, I have tried to coalesce my thoughts to write my first editorial. Bar Harbor in July is as idyllic a setting for musings as one could hope for. Even so, I was finding it difficult to express my gratitude for this opportunity to provide stewardship to ONF, one of the premier journals in the field of oncology nursing and an important part of the history of the Oncology Nursing Society.

Update on the Role of Research in the Oncology Nursing Society

Changes are underway at the Oncology Nursing Society to align resources so that scientists have the support needed to generate new knowledge and clinicians have access to tools needed to use evidence-based interventions that can speed the translation of research to transform cancer care.
