A novel IoT-fog-cloud-based healthcare system for monitoring and predicting COVID-19 outspread

Rapid communication of viral sicknesses is an arising public medical issue across the globe. Out of these, COVID-19 is viewed as the most critical and novel infection nowadays. The current investigation gives an effective framework for the monitoring and prediction of COVID-19 virus infection (C-19VI). To the best of our knowledge, no research work is focused on incorporating IoT technology for C-19 outspread over spatial-temporal patterns. Moreover, limited work has been done in the direction of prediction of C-19 in humans for controlling the spread of COVID-19. The proposed framework includes a four-level architecture for the expectation and avoidance of COVID-19 contamination. The presented model comprises COVID-19 Data Collection (C-19DC) level, COVID-19 Information Classification (C-19IC) level, COVID-19-Mining and Extraction (C-19ME) level, and COVID-19 Prediction and Decision Modeling (C-19PDM) level. Specifically, the presented model is used to empower a person/community to intermittently screen COVID-19 Fever Measure (C-19FM) and forecast it so that proactive measures are taken in advance. Additionally, for prescient purposes, the probabilistic examination of C-19VI is quantified as degree of membership, which is cumulatively characterized as a COVID-19 Fever Measure (C-19FM). Moreover, the prediction is realized utilizing the temporal recurrent neural network. Additionally, based on the self-organized mapping technique, the presence of C-19VI is determined over a geographical area. Simulation is performed over four challenging datasets. In contrast to other strategies, altogether improved outcomes in terms of classification efficiency, prediction viability, and reliability were registered for the introduced model.

Perfusion-modulated MR imaging-guided radiofrequency ablation of the kidney in a porcine model

OBJECTIVE

This study was performed to test the hypothesis that temporary renal ischemia will result in increased thermal lesion size during radiofrequency thermal ablation in the kidney.

MATERIALS AND METHODS

Twelve kidneys were treated in six pigs that were placed under general anesthesia in the MR suite, using a 0.2-T open C-shaped MR imaging system. A 4-cm-long, 14-mm-diameter balloon catheter was placed into the aorta using a transfemoral approach, and the balloon was positioned proximal to the renal arteries via guidance with MR imaging. A 2-cm exposed-tip MR-compatible 17-gauge radiofrequency electrode was placed into one kidney under MR fluoroscopy using fast imaging with steady-state free precession (FISP) sequences. Thermal ablation was performed with the electrode tip temperature maintained at 90 +/- 2 degrees C for 10 min. This procedure was repeated in the contralateral kidney. The balloon was inflated during one ablation. Postablation images were obtained, the pigs were sacrificed, and both kidneys of each animal were harvested for pathologic correlation.

RESULTS

Technical success was achieved in all animals. The lesion measured 14.2 +/- 2.2 mm (mean +/- standard deviation) for the ischemic kidney versus 8.0 +/- 2.6 mm in the normally perfused kidney (p = 0.00002). No significant complications were noted. In all images, thermal lesions displayed low signal intensity with a sharp rim of high signal intensity best visualized using short tau inversion recovery (STIR) sequences with a mean accuracy of 1.3 +/- 1.2 mm when compared with pathologic findings and a mean contrast-to-noise ratio of 4.9 +/- 2.5.

CONCLUSION

We accept the hypothesis that temporary renal ischemia leads to a significantly increased radiofrequency ablation lesion size. We conclude that catheter-based balloon perfusion reduction is feasible, that the procedure does not lead to major complications, and that it can be performed using MR imaging as the sole imaging modality.

Hepato-biliary coccidiosis in a dairy goat

Hepato-biliary coccidiosis is reported in a diary goat that died of liver failure. Two types of lesions were seen in the liver. In the biliary type, coccidial oocysts, schizonts, gametes and gametocytes were seen in the epithelium of the bile duct, the wall of which was highly fibrosed. The hepatic type was in the form of granuloma, composed of oocysts and macrophages encapsulated in a fibrous capsule. Hepatic lymph nodes were diffusely scattered with oocysts and macrophages. Liver coccidiosis was found to be unresponsive to oral sulphamethazine treatment.
