Abstract
Bulb rot, a highly damaging disease of tulip plants, has hindered their profitable cultivation worldwide. This rot occurs in both field and storage conditions posing significant challenges. While this disease has been attributed to a range of pathogens, previous investigations have solely examined it within the framework of a single-pathogen disease model. Our study took a different approach and identified four pathogens associated with the disease: Fusarium solani, Penicillium chrysogenum, Botrytis tulipae, and Aspergillus niger. The primary objective of our research was to examine the impact of co-infections on the overall virulence dynamics of these pathogens. Through co-inoculation experiments on potato dextrose agar, we delineated three primary interaction patterns: antibiosis, deadlock, and merging. In vitro trials involving individual pathogen inoculations on tulip bulbs revealed that B. tulipae,was the most virulent and induced complete bulb decay. Nonetheless, when these pathogens were simultaneously introduced in various combinations, outcomes ranged from partial bulb decay to elongated rotting periods. This indicated a notable degree of antagonistic behaviour among the pathogens. While synergistic interactions were evident in a few combinations, antagonism overwhelmingly prevailed. The complex interplay of these pathogens during co-infection led to a noticeable change in the overall severity of the disease. This underscores the significance of pathogen-pathogen interactions in the realm of plant pathology, opening new insights for understanding and managing tulip bulb rot.

Abstract
Cadmium (Cd) pollution threatens plant physiological and biochemical activities and crop production. Significant progress has been made in characterizing how nanoparticles affect Cd stress tolerance; however, the molecular mechanism of nZVI nanoparticles in Cd stress remains largely uncharacterized. Plants treated with nZVI and exposed to Cd had increased antioxidant capacity and reduced Cd accumulation in plant tissues. The nZVI treatment differentially affected the expression of genes involved in plant environmental responses, including those associated with the ERF transcription factor. SlEFR1 was upregulated by Cd stress in nZVI-treated plants when compared with the control and the predicted protein-protein interactions suggested SlERF1 interacts with proteins associated with plant hormone signaling pathway and related to stress. Yeast overexpressing SlEFR1 grew faster after Cd exposure and significantly had higher Cd stress tolerance when compared with empty vector controls. These results suggest that nZVI induces Cd stress tolerance by activating SlERF1 expression to improve plant growth and nutrient accumulation. Our study reveals the molecular mechanism of Cd stress tolerance for improved plant growth and will support new research on overcoming Cd stress and improving vegetable crop production.

Abstract
In flowering Chinese cabbage, early booting is one of the most important characteristics that is linked with quality and production. Through fixed light intensity (280 μmol·m-2·s-1) and fixed intermittent lighting in flowering Chinese cabbage, there was early bolting, bud emergence, and flowering. Moreover, the aboveground fresh weight, blade area, dry weight of blade, and quantification of the leaves in flowering Chinese cabbage were significantly reduced, while the thickness of tillers, tillers height, dry weight of tillers, and tillers weight were significantly increased. The chlorophyll contents and soil-plant analysis and development (SPAD) value decreased in the early stage and increased in the later stage. The nitrate content decreased, while the photosynthetic rate, vitamin C content, soluble sugar content, soluble protein content, phenolic content, and flavonoid content increased, and mineral elements also accumulated. In order to explore the mechanism of intermittent light promoting the early bolting and flowering of '49d' flowering Chinese cabbage, this study analyzed the transcriptional regulation from a global perspective using RNA sequencing. A total of 17,086 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were obtained and 396 DEGs were selected that were closely related to early bolting. These DEGs were mainly involved in pollen wall assembly and plant circadian rhythm pathways, light action (34 DEGs), hormone biosynthesis and regulation (26 DEGs), development (21 DEGs), and carbohydrate synthesis and transport (6 DEGs). Three hub genes with the highest connectivity were identified through weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA): BrRVE, BrLHY, and BrRVE1. It is speculated that they may be involved in the intermittent light regulation of early bolting in flowering Chinese cabbage. In conclusion, intermittent light can be used as a useful tool to regulate plant growth structure, increase planting density, enhance photosynthesis, increase mineral accumulation, accelerate growth, and shorten the breeding cycle.

Abstract
AIM To evaluate cost-effectiveness of upadacitinib (targeted synthetic-disease modifying anti-rheumatic drug [ts-DMARD]) as first-line (1 L) treatment versus current treatment among patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), who had an inadequate response to prior conventional-synthetic (csDMARDs) and/or biologic-DMARDs (bDMARDs). METHODS This Excel-based model included patients with moderate (Disease Activity Score [DAS28]: >3.2 to ≤5.1) or severe RA (DAS28 > 5.1). Cost-effectiveness of current treatment (1 L: adalimumab-originator/biosimilar; second-line (2 L): other bDMARDs/tofacitinib) was compared against a new treatment involving two scenarios (1 L: upadacitinib, 2 L: adalimumab-biosimilar [scenario-1]/adalimumab-originator [scenario-2]) for a 10-year time-horizon from societal perspective. Model outcomes included direct and indirect costs, quality-adjusted life-years (QALYs), hospitalization days, number of orthopedic surgeries, and incremental cost-utility ratio (ICUR) per QALY. RESULTS With the current pathway, estimated total societal costs for 100 RA patients over 10-year period were Saudi Riyal (SAR) 50,450,354 (United States dollars [USD] 13,453,428) (moderate RA) and SAR50,013,945 (USD13,337,052) (severe RA). New pathway (scenario-1) showed that in patients with moderate-to-severe RA, upadacitinib led to higher QALY gain (+8.99 and +15.63) at lower societal cost (cost difference: -SAR2,023,522 [-USD539,606] and -SAR3,373,029 [-USD899,474], respectively). Thus, as 1 L, upadacitinib projects "dominant" ICUR per QALY over current pathway. Moreover, in alternate pathway (scenario-2), upadacitinib also projects "dominant" ICUR per QALY for patient with severe RA (QALY gain: +15.63; cost difference: -SAR 164,536 [-USD43,876]). However, moderate RA was associated with additional cost of SAR1,255,696 (USD334,852) for improved QALY (+8.99) over current pathway (ICUR per QALY: SAR139,742 [USD37,264]). Both scenarios resulted in reduced hospitalization days (scenario-1: -14.83 days; scenario-2: -11.41 days) and number of orthopedic surgeries (scenario-1: -8.36; scenario-2: -6.54) for moderate-to-severe RA over the current treatment pathway. CONCLUSION Upadacitinib as 1 L treatment in moderate-to-severe RA can considerably reduce healthcare resource burden in KSA, majorly due to reduced drug administration/monitoring/hospitalization/surgical and indirect costs.

Abstract
Background The aim of the observational, prospective study was to validate a novel, nonverbal assessment tool for perceived disease burden-Pictorial Representation of Illness and Self-Measure (PRISM)-in ulcerative colitis (UC) against established patient health questionnaires. The cumulative burden of patients recently diagnosed (<3 years) with UC was also evaluated. Methods "ICONIC" - Understanding the impact of ulcerative colitis and its associated disease burden on patients - was a noninterventional, multicountry, multicenter study performed in a 2-year follow-up format in adult patients with recently diagnosed UC in 33 countries, regardless of disease severity or treatment. Data collection consisted of five visits, scheduled at approximately 6-month intervals. For the current analysis, patient data from Saudi Arabia and Kuwait were evaluated. The collected data comprised demographics, disease-related data, UC treatment, and healthcare resources, as well as physician- and patient-assessed quality-of-life and disease burden questionnaires. Correlations between selected questionnaire scores were performed using Spearman's rho. Results Disease severity at baseline and throughout the study was slightly less favorable in this country analysis compared with the global study cohort. Disease burden was assessed by PRISM and improved within 24 months. Conclusions The detected moderate correlation between PRISM and other assessment methods supports the validity of PRISM. Differences in perceptions of UC-related burden between physician and patient may reflect to some degree insufficient patient-physician communication.

Abstract
We present the case of a 30-year-old woman who presented with 8-month history of intermittent fever, joint pains with morning stiffness, recurrent oral ulcers, photosensitivity, weight loss and hair fall. For the last 2 months, she had developed a dry cough with progressive shortening of breath. On examination, a cachexic lady with malar hyperpigmentation, alopecia, pallor, nail dystrophy and erythema over her hands and feet were noted. There were multiple punched-out skin ulcers of variable size over legs, arms and abdomen usually round in shape with well-defined even wound margins and scant serous discharge. Musculoskeletal examination revealed synovitis of both elbows and a few metacarpophalangeal and proximal interphalangeal joints. Chest X-ray and HRCT showed bilateral ground-glass opacification. Anti-Nuclear Antibody (ANA) was positive, 1:320, homogenous nuclear pattern. Anti-Ro antibody was highly positive and serum complement (C3, C4) levels were reduced. She was diagnosed with Lupus Vasculitis and started on steroids, mycophenolate mofetil and hydroxychloroquine.

Abstract
Growth-regulating factors (GRFs) are a unique family of transcription factors with well-characterized functions in plant growth and development. However, few studies have evaluated their roles in the absorption and assimilation of nitrate. In this study, we characterized the GRF family genes of flowering Chinese cabbage (Brassica campestris), an important vegetable crop in South China. Using bioinformatics methods, we identified BcGRF genes and analyzed their evolutionary relationships, conserved motifs, and sequence characteristics. Through genome-wide analysis, we identified 17 BcGRF genes distributed on seven chromosomes. A phylogenetic analysis revealed that the BcGRF genes could be categorized into five subfamilies. RT-qPCR analysis showed that BcGRF1, 8, 10, and 17 expression clearly increased in response to nitrogen (N) deficiency, particularly at 8 h after treatment. BcGRF8 expression was the most sensitive to N deficiency and was significantly correlated with the expression patterns of most key genes related to N metabolism. Using yeast one-hybrid and dual-luciferase assays, we discovered that BcGRF8 strongly enhances the driving activity of the BcNRT1.1 gene promoter. Next, we investigated the molecular mechanism by which BcGRF8 participates in nitrate assimilation and N signaling pathways by expressing it in Arabidopsis. BcGRF8 was localized in the cell nucleus and BcGRF8 overexpression significantly increased the shoot and root fresh weights, seedling root length, and lateral root number in Arabidopsis. In addition, BcGRF8 overexpression considerably reduced the nitrate contents under both nitrate-poor and -rich conditions in Arabidopsis. Finally, we found that BcGRF8 broadly regulates genes related to N uptake, utilization, and signaling. Our results demonstrate that BcGRF8 substantially accelerates plant growth and nitrate assimilation under both nitrate-poor and -rich conditions by increasing the number of lateral roots and the expression of genes involved in N uptake and assimilation, providing a basis for crop improvement.

Abstract
Over the past two decades, heavy metal pollution has been a common problem worldwide, greatly threatening crop production. As one of the metal pollutants, Mercury (Hg) causes damage to plant cells and reduces cellular and biochemical activities. In this study, we identified a novel cytochrome P450 family gene, BrCYP71A15, which was involved in Hg stress response in yeast. In Chinese cabbage, the BrCYP71A15 gene was located on chromosome A01, which was highly expressed in roots. Additionally, the expression level of BrCYP71A15 was induced by different heavy metal stresses, and the BrCYP71A15 protein exhibited a strong interaction with other proteins. Overexpression of BrCYP71A15 in yeast cells showed no response to a number of heavy metal stresses (Cu, Al, Co, Cd) in yeast but showed high sensitivity to Hg stress; the cells grew slower than those carrying the empty vector (EV). Moreover, upon Hg stress, the growth of the BrCYP71A15-overexpressing cells increased over time, and Hg accumulation in yeast cells was enhanced by two-fold compared with the control. Additionally, BrCYP71A15 was translocated into the nucleus under Hg stress. The expression level of cell wall biosynthesis genes was significantly influenced by Hg stress in the BrCYP71A15-overexpressing cells. These findings suggested that BrCYP71A15 might participate in HG stress tolerance. Our results provide a fundamental basis for further genome editing research and a novel approach to decrease Hg accumulation in vegetable crops and reduce environmental risks to human health through the food chain.

Abstract
This study aims to explore the molecular mechanism of N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modification-related long noncoding RNA (lncRNA)-microRNA (miRNA)-messenger RNA (mRNA) network in regulating autophagy and affecting the occurrence and development of acute pancreatitis (AP). RNA-seq datasets related to AP were obtained from Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database and merged after batch effect removal. lncRNAs significantly related to m6A in AP, namely candidate lncRNA, were screened by correlation analysis and differential expression analysis. In addition, candidate autophagy genes were screened through the multiple databases. Furthermore, the key pathways for autophagy to play a role in AP were determined by functional enrichment analysis. Finally, we predicted the miRNAs binding to genes and lncRNAs through TargetScan, miRDB and DIANA TOOLS databases and constructed two types of lncRNA-miRNA-mRNA regulatory networks mediated by upregulated and downregulated lncRNAs in AP. Nine lncRNAs related to m6A were differentially expressed in AP, and 21 candidate autophagy genes were obtained. Phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K)-Akt signaling pathway and Forkhead box O (FoxO) signaling pathway might be the key pathways for autophagy to play a role in AP. Finally, we constructed a lncRNA-miRNA-mRNA regulatory network. An upregulated lncRNA competitively binds to 13 miRNAs to regulate 6 autophagy genes, and a lncRNA-miRNA-mRNA regulatory network in which 2 downregulated lncRNAs competitively bind to 7 miRNAs to regulate 2 autophagy genes. m6A modification-related lncRNA Pvt1, lncRNA Meg3 and lncRNA AW112010 may mediate the lncRNA-miRNA-mRNA network, thereby regulating autophagy to affect the development of AP.

Abstract
Chinese cabbage tipburn is characterized by the formation of necrotic lesions on the margin of leaves, including on the insides of the leafy head. This physiological disorder is associated with a localized calcium deficiency during leaf development. However, little information is available regarding the molecular mechanisms governing Ca-deficiency-triggered tipburn. This study comprehensively analysed the transcriptomic comparison between control and calcium treatments (CK and 0 mM Ca) in Chinese cabbage to determine its molecular mechanism in tipburn. Our analysis identified that the most enriched gene ontology (GO) categories are photosynthesis, thylakoid and cofactor binding. Moreover, the KEGG pathway was most enriched in photosynthesis, carbon metabolism and carbon fixation. We also analyzed the co-expression network by functional categories and identified ten critical hub differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in each gene regulatory network (GRN). These DEGs might involve abiotic stresses, developmental processes, cell wall metabolism, calcium distribution, transcription factors, plant hormone biosynthesis and signal transduction pathways. Under calcium deficiency, CNX1, calmodulin-binding proteins and CMLs family proteins were downregulated compared to CK. In addition, plant hormones such as GA, JA, BR, Auxin and ABA biosynthesis pathways genes were downregulated under calcium treatment. Likewise, HATs, ARLs and TCP transcription factors were reported as inactive under calcium deficiency, and potentially involved in the developmental process. This work explores the specific DEGs' significantly different expression levels in 0 mM Ca and the control involved in plant hormones, cell wall developments, a light response such as chlorophylls and photosynthesis, transport metabolism and defence mechanism and redox. Our results provide critical evidence of the potential roles of the calcium signal transduction pathway and candidate genes governing Ca-deficiency-triggered tipburn in Chinese cabbage.

Abstract
Glycine-rich proteins (GRPs) are a large family of proteins that play vital roles in cell wall remodeling, metabolism and development, and abiotic stress response. Although the functions of GRPs in cell wall remodeling have been extensively characterized, only a few studies have explored their effects on chlorophyll metabolism and hormone response. Accordingly, we aimed to determine the molecular mechanism of BcGRP23 and its role in chlorophyll metabolism and the BRI1-EMS-SUPPRESSOR 1 (BES1) signaling pathway in flowering Chinese cabbage. The expression levels of BcGRP23 in the leaves and stems gradually decreased with increasing growth and development of flowering Chinese cabbage, while BcGRP23 was barely expressed after flowering. As plant growth continued, the GUS (β-glucuronidase) stain gradually became lighter in hypocotyls and was largely free of growth points. The petioles and stems of BcGRP23-silenced plants lost their green color, and the contents of chlorophyll a (Chl a) and Chl b were significantly reduced. Further research revealed that the expression levels of chlorophyll degradation-related genes were significantly increased in silenced plants compared with the control; however, the opposite was noted for the BcGRP23-overexpressing lines. The BcGRP23 promoter sequence contains numerous hormone-responsive elements. In fact, the expression of BcGRP23 was upregulated in flowering Chinese cabbage following treatment with the hormones indole-3-acetic acid (IAA), gibberellin (GA), 6-benzylaminopurine (6-BA), methyl jasmonate (MeJA), and brassinosteroid (BR). Treatment with BR led to the most significant upregulation. BES1, in response to BRs, directly activated the BcGRP23 promoter. Overall, BcGRP23 regulated the expression of chlorophyll degradation-related genes, thereby affecting the chlorophyll content. Furthermore, the expression of BcGRP23 was significantly regulated by exogenous BR application and was directly activated by BES1. These findings preliminarily suggest the molecular mechanism and regulatory pathway of BcGRP23 in the growth and development of flowering Chinese cabbage plants and their response to environmental stress.

Method
This was a randomized control trial done over 18 months with patients being allotted randomly into the bipolar and monopolar arms. The study was carried out in the department of urology at BRI and YC. All consecutive patients undergoing TURBT for suspected bladder tumors were eligible for the study. The diagnosis was based on imaging and/or cystoscopy. Exclusion criteria included refusal to participate, unfitness for spinal anesthesia, and lack of tumor in the lateral wall. The primary objective was to compare the incidence of obturator jerk in monopolar and bipolar TURBT. The secondary objective was to study and compare the quality of histopathology specimen, detrusor muscle identification, and bladder perforation.
Results
A total of 95 transurethral resections were done over the study period. All these patients were eligible for inclusion in the study, 50 in monopolar and 45 in the bipolar arms, were analyzed. Both the study groups were comparable for age, sex, and tumor size. The incidence of obturator jerk was greater in the bipolar arm (8.8 %% vs 2%, P- value=2.25). The difference in the incidence of obturator jerk in the two arms was not statistically significant (Chi-Square test). There was no significant difference in either of the secondary outcomes.
Conclusions
The bipolar transurethral resection of the bladder tumor was not superior to monopolar resection concerning the obturator jerk, bladder perforation, and histopathological quality of the resected specimen.

Abstract
Tulip is an ornamental bulbous flowering crop belonging to the Genus Tulipa and family Liliaceae. It is the first ranking bulbous ornamental plant in the world (Nayeem and Qayoom 2015). They are often the first flowers to witness the bloom in the spring. Kashmir valley is located in northern Himalayas in northwestern region of Indian subcontinent. It is the most alluring and fascinating place all over India and the home of famous "Indhra Gandhi Memorial Tulip garden", the largest tulip garden in the entire Asia. However there are number of constraints in tulip cultivation among which bulb rot occupy a prominent place (Piwoni 2000). Bulb rot is posing problem to all the tulip growers throughout the world (De Hertogh et al. 1983). Rot symptoms were observed on tulip bulbs in field as well as in storage conditions (20-22◦C temperature with a relative humidity of 65%) in the summers of 2018 and 2019 in Shalimar fields of Kashmir. The main disease symptoms are yellow sunken spots on bulbs, purple-yellow coloration of leaves. Causal agent was isolated using tissue bit technique (Pathak 1972) on potato dextrose agar plates which where incubated at 24±2◦C . Single spore technique was used to obtain the pure isolate (Johnston and Booth 1983). The isolate covered the full plate (90mm) in ten days. The colony was dull whitish in color, flat and smooth with concentric ring formation in the culture plate with inner ring having a creamy exudation. The mycelium was septate, branched and hyaline in color and measured 3.50-5.20 µm in width with an average of 4.4 µm. Micro-conidia were hyaline, cylindrical to oval, 0-1 septa and measured 7.50-11.00×2.80-3.75 µm in size. Macro conidia were hyaline with 3-4 septa, fusiform, moderately curved which measured 21.15- 32.00×3.80-4.75 µm in size with an average of 28.50±0.21× 4.30±0.2 µm. On the basis of these morphological and cultural characteristics of the fungus, it was identified as Fusarium solani (Mar.) Sacc.,. To confirm the identity the PCR amplification was carried out for two genes Internal Transcribed Spacer (ITS 1, ITS 4)and Translation Elongation factor1-alpha gene (tef1- alpha) (O'Donnell et al. 1998; White et al. 1990). BLAST analysis of the sequence obtained for both the genes showed 99% homology with F. solani sequences in GenBank and Fusarium -ID databases. The sequences were deposited in the GenBank (Accession No MN611433, MW995477). Pathogenicity test was conducted on variety orange emperor both in laboratory and polyhouse. Bulbs were divided into three sets, (three bulbs per set) one set was given injury and dipped in conidial suspension (106 conidia/ml) for 30 min, another set was kept uninjured and dipped in spore suspension of same concentration, the third set was served as control and dipped in sterilized distilled water. All the respective sets were incubated in a moist chamber maintained at a temperature of 22 ◦C to observe symptoms. The injured ones showed symptoms after 7-8 days of inoculation, whereas the uninjured bulbs showed symptoms after 11-12 days. No symptoms were observed in controlled set. A pot experiment was also conducted to carry the pathogenicity tests. Bulbs were injured with the help of sterile needle and were dipped in conidial suspension (106 conidia/ml) for 30 min (Pastrana et al. 2014). The bulbs kept for control were dipped in sterilized distilled water. Bulbs were then planted in pots maintained at 18◦C. The above ground parts of the inoculated bulbs showed symptoms like stunted growth which gradually turned yellow and did not produced flowers. The bulbs after harvesting were rotten .No symptoms were observed in controlled plants. To fulfill the Koch's postulates the fungal pathogen was re-isolated which was identified as F. solani. The pathogen is reported to cause disease in other crops (Gupta et al. 2012) but to our knowledge and on the basis of literature, this is the first report of F. solani causing bulb rot of tulip in India.

Abstract
Optimum planting arrangement is an important attribute for efficient utilization of available resources and to obtain high yield of cotton. Application of plant growth promoter and retardant on cotton in improved planting density are the innovative techniques in the establishment of more productive cotton crop. Therefore, we planned a field study to assess the role of bio-stimulant and growth retardant in the resource utilization efficiency of cotton cultivars planted under variable row spacing at Agronomic Research Area Bahauddin Zakariya University and Usmania Agricultural Farm Shujabad during Kharif 2012. Experimental treatments consisted of cotton genotypes viz. CIM-573 and CIM-598, cultivated under conventional (75 cm), medium (50 cm) and ultra-narrow row spacing (25 cm) with foliar spray of bio-stimulant (moringa leaf extract) and growth retardant (mepiquate chloride), either sole or in combination, keeping distilled water as a control. Exogenously applied MLE alone and MLE + MC significantly enhanced the number of squares, flowers and green bolls per plant leading to higher cotton seed and lint yield of CIM 598 cultivar cultivated under conventional row spacing. While application of MC alone and MLE + MC produced maximum micronaire value, fiber strength and fiber uniformity ratio of CIM 573 cultivar cultivated under conventional row spacing. The results suggested that application of MLE is a possible approach to enhance the cotton productivity and the use of MC to enhance the fiber quality attributes under conventional row spacing.

Abstract
Entangled photon pairs are a critical resource in quantum communication protocols ranging from quantum key distribution to teleportation. The current workhorse technique for producing photon pairs is via spontaneous parametric down conversion (SPDC) in bulk nonlinear crystals. The increased prominence of quantum networks has led to a growing interest in deployable high performance entangled photon-pair sources. This manuscript provides a review of the state-of-the-art bulk-optics-based SPDC sources with continuous wave pump and discusses some of the main considerations when building for deployment.

Abstract
Plant growth regulators and improved planting density are the innovative techniques in the establishment of more productive cotton crop. A field study was planned to assess the role of growth regulators in the resource utilization efficiency of cotton cultivars under different row spacing at Agronomic Research Area, Bahauddin Zakariya University Multan and Usmania Agricultural Farm, Shujaabad during Kharif 2012. The study was comprised of cotton cultivars viz. CIM-573 and CIM-598, cultivated under conventional (75 cm), medium (50 cm) and improved ultra-narrow row spacing (25 cm) and foliar spray of growth regulators viz. moringa leaf extract (MLE) and mepiquat chloride (MC), either alone or in combination, distilled water as a control. The application of MLE alone and in combination (MLE + MC) showed the promoting effect on crop growth rate, net assimilation rate, leaf area index, leaf area duration, sympodial branches and number of bolls leading to higher seed cotton yield of both cotton cultivars grown under conventional row spacing. While application of MC averts the plant growth without considerably improving the productivity. MLE being rich source of growth promoting hormone and nutrients showed its potential to a far greater extent under conventional row spacing in efficient utilization of available resources compared to MC and distilled water.

Abstract
Introduction Tumor budding is defined as a cluster of cells that invade the stroma. This has recently been studied to be associated with lymph node metastasis (LNM) and poor overall survival (OS) rate. The reliability and reproducibility of this histopathological feature make it a valid prognostic indicator in tongue carcinomas, which often have an unpredictable prognosis. The objective of this study was to group the studies that elucidate the prognostic role of tumor budding in tongue cancers. Methods A systematic database search was performed in MEDLINE, Embase, and Google Scholar for relevant studies that reported tumor budding in tongue cancer. The relevant articles were independently screened by two authors for selection and data extraction. As a result, a list of such studies, clinical trials, and references, published in English up to March 2020, was obtained, and a total of 1448 patients in nine studies were included in this meta-analysis. Statistical analysis was conducted using RevMan software 5.3 (The Nordic Cochrane Centre, Cochrane Collaboration, Copenhagen). Results A higher tumor budding score was significantly correlated with LNM (hazard ratio (HR): 3.07; 95% confidence interval (CI): 2.08-4.52; p≤.00001) and poor OS (HR: 2.40; 95% CI: 1.84-3.14; p≤.00001) in tongue cancer. Conclusions Our present study demonstrates that tumor budding is an independent predictor of LNM and OS in tongue cancer. Tumor budding should be considered a parameter in future oncological staging systems.

Abstract
Introduction Mean platelet volume (MPV) is an inflammatory marker suggesting the activation of platelets. Many studies observed an association between MPV and cancer spread and metastasis. Hence, we have conducted a retrospective study to find the role of MPV as a prognostic marker in locally advanced gastric cancer. Materials and methods The present study included a retrospective review of 149 patients with gastric cancer who had neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by surgery. MPV was obtained and then statistically analyzed to find an association between tumor (T), node (N), and overall stage as per the American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) staging system, using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software (IBM Corp., Armonk, NY). Results In our study, we observed that MPV values were significantly high in N+ disease (OR 3.794 (95% CI 1.903 - 7.563); p-value 0.0001), higher T stage (OR for >T2 3.692 (95% CI 1.876 - 7.266); p-value 0.0001), and advanced stage (OR 7.708 (95% CI 3.258 - 18.237); p-value 0.0001) of gastric cancer. Conclusions MPV is an inflammatory marker that correlates with nodal disease and aids in the staging and prognostication of locally advanced gastric cancer. This inexpensive, convenient marker can aid in the risk stratification of locally advanced gastric cancer.

nutritional needs in addition to breast milk. Complementary feeding should contain
complete nutritional components especially in minerals. Minerals are elements needed by
the body for the overall body function. Children require calcium (Ca), iron (Fe), and zinc
(Zn) for their body growth to prevent stunting. This study was aimed to analyse Ca, Fe
and Zn content in the formulated fish protein hydrolysate (FPH) complementary feeding
porridge. A total of three formulations were produced namely F1, F2 and F3 and analysed
for mineral content following AOAC method 999.11. From the analysis, F3 had the
highest Fe content (38.547 mg/100 g) and Zn content (5.751 mg/100 g) while F1 had the
highest Ca content (65.152 mg/100 g). Overall, F3 had the best mineral content to be
formulated as a suitable FPH complementary feeding instant powder.

Abstract
The recent rapid climate changes and increasing global population have led to an increased incidence of abiotic stress and decreased crop productivity. Environmental stresses, such as temperature, drought, nutrient deficiency, salinity, and heavy metal stresses, are major challenges for agriculture, and they lead to a significant reduction in crop growth and productivity. Abiotic stress is a very complex phenomenon, involving a variety of physiological and biochemical changes in plant cells. Plants exposed to abiotic stress exhibit enhanced levels of ROS (reactive oxygen species), which are highly reactive and toxic and affect the biosynthesis of chlorophyll, photosynthetic capacity, and carbohydrate, protein, lipid, and antioxidant enzyme activities. Transgenic breeding offers a suitable alternative to conventional breeding to achieve plant genetic improvements. Over the last two decades, genetic engineering/transgenic breeding techniques demonstrated remarkable developments in manipulations of the genes for the induction of desired characteristics into transgenic plants. Transgenic approaches provide us with access to identify the candidate genes, miRNAs, and transcription factors (TFs) that are involved in specific plant processes, thus enabling an integrated knowledge of the molecular and physiological mechanisms influencing the plant tolerance and productivity. The accuracy and precision of this phenomenon assures great success in the future of plant improvements. Hence, transgenic breeding has proven to be a promising tool for abiotic stress improvement in crops. This review focuses on the potential and successful applications, recent progress, and future perspectives of transgenic breeding for improving abiotic stress tolerance and productivity in plants.

Abstract
Anomalous Aortic Origin of a Coronary Artery (AAOCA) is a rare anomaly of the coronary artery with a considerable risk of sudden cardiac death due to ischaemia of the heart. Symptoms may include chest pain on exertion, breathlessness or dizziness. We encountered a case of a 46- year-old female who complained of exertional chest pain with a positive-stress test and subsequently diagnosed with AAOCA through CT angiography (CTA). She successfully underwent a coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery using a saphenous vein graft with uneventful recovery. Right internal mammary artery (RIMA) was not used as it was flimsy and the flow was very poor.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Suboptimal root zone temperature (RZT) causes a remarkable reduction in growth of horticultural crops during winter cultivation under greenhouse production. However, limited information is available on the effects of suboptimal RZT on nitrogen (N) metabolism in cucumber seedlings. The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of 24-Epibrassinolide (EBR) on nitrate and ammonium flux rate, N metabolism, and transcript levels of NRT1 family genes under suboptimal RZT in cucumber seedlings. RESULTS Suboptimal RZT (LT) negatively affected on cucumber growth and proportionately decreased EBR contents, bleeding rate, root activity, enzyme activities of nitrate reductase (NR), nitrite reductase (NiR), glutamine synthetase (GS), and glutamate synthase (GOGAT), nitrate (NO3-) influx rate, ammonium (NH4+) efflux rate, and transcript levels of nitrate transporter (NRT1) encoding genes. However, exogenous EBR reduced the harmful effects of suboptimal RZT and increased endogenous EBR contents, bleeding rate, root activity, enzyme activities of NR, NiR, GS, and GOGAT, NH4+ and NO3- flux rates and contents, and N accumulation. EBR-treated seedlings also upregulated the transcript levels of nitrate transporters CsNRT1.1, CsNRT1.2A, CsNRT1.2B, CsNRT1.2C, CsNRT1.3, CsNRT1.4A, CsNRT1.5B, CsNRT1.5C, CsNRT1.9, and CsNRT1.10, and downregulated CsNRT1.5A and CsNRT1.8. LT treatment upregulated the expression level of CsNRT1.5A, while exogenous BZR application downregulated the expression level of NRT1 genes. CONCLUSION These results indicate that exogenous application of EBR alleviated the harmful effects of suboptimal RZT through changes in N metabolism, NH4+ and NO3- flux rates, and NRT1 gene expression, leading to improved cucumber seedlings growth. Our study provides the first evidence of the role of EBR in the response to suboptimal RZT in cucumber, and can be used to improve vegetable production.

Abstract
The negative effects of environmental stresses, such as low temperature, high temperature, salinity, drought, heavy metal stress, and biotic stress significantly decrease crop productivity. Plant hormones are currently being used to induce stress tolerance in a variety of plants. Brassinosteroids (commonly known as BR) are a group of phytohormones that regulate a wide range of biological processes that lead to tolerance of various stresses in plants. BR stimulate BRASSINAZOLE RESISTANCE 1 (BZR1)/BRI1-EMS SUPPRESSOR 1 (BES1), transcription factors that activate thousands of BR-targeted genes. BR regulate antioxidant enzyme activities, chlorophyll contents, photosynthetic capacity, and carbohydrate metabolism to increase plant growth under stress. Mutants with BR defects have shortened root and shoot developments. Exogenous BR application increases the biosynthesis of endogenous hormones such as indole-3-acetic acid, abscisic acid, jasmonic acid, zeatin riboside, brassinosteroids (BR), and isopentenyl adenosine, and gibberellin (GA) and regulates signal transduction pathways to stimulate stress tolerance. This review will describe advancements in knowledge of BR and their roles in response to different stress conditions in plants.

Abstract
5-aminolevulinic acid (ALA) increases plant tolerance to low-temperature stress, but the physiological and biochemical mechanisms that underlie its effects are not fully understood. To investigate them, cucumber seedlings were treated with different ALA concentrations (0, 15, 30 and 45 mg/L ALA) and subjected to low temperatures (12/8 °C day/night temperature). The another group (RT; regular temperature) was exposed to normal temperature (28/18 °C day/night temperature). Low-temperature stress decreased plant height, root length, leaf area, dry mass accumulation and the strong seedling index (SSI), chlorophyll contents, photosynthesis, leaf and root nutrient contents, antioxidant enzymatic activities, and hormone accumulation. Exogenous ALA application significantly alleviated the inhibition of seedling growth and increased plant height, root length, hypocotyl diameter, leaf area, and dry mass accumulation under low-temperature stress. Moreover, ALA increased chlorophyll content (Chl a, Chl b, Chl a+b, and Carotenoids) and photosynthetic capacity, net photosynthetic rate (Pn), stomatal conductance (Gs), intercellular CO2 concentration (Ci), and transpiration rate (Tr), as well as the activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD), peroxidase (POD, catalase (CAT), ascorbate peroxidase (APX), and glutathione reductase (GR) enzymes, while decreasing hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), superoxide (O2•−), and malondialdehyde (MDA) contents under low-temperature stress. In addition, nutrient contents (N, P, K, Mg, Ca, Cu, Fe, Mn, and Zn) and endogenous hormones (JA, IAA, BR, iPA, and ZR) were enhanced in roots and leaves, and GA4 and ABA were decreased. Our results suggest the up-regulation of antioxidant enzyme activities, nutrient contents, and hormone accumulation with the application of ALA increases tolerance to low-temperature stress, leading to improved cucumber seedling performance.

Abstract
Phytohormone biosynthesis and accumulation are essential for plant growth and development and stress responses. Here, we investigated the effects of 24-epibrassinolide (EBR) on physiological and biochemical mechanisms in cucumber leaves under low-temperature stress. The cucumber seedlings were exposed to treatments as follows: NT (normal temperature, 26 °C/18 °C day/night), and three low-temperature (12 °C/8 °C day/night) treatments: CK (low-temperature stress); EBR (low-temperature and 0.1 μM EBR); and BZR (low-temperature and 4 μM BZR, a specific EBR biosynthesis inhibitor). The results indicated that low-temperature stress proportionately decreased cucumber seedling growth and the strong seedling index, chlorophyll (Chl) content, photosynthetic capacity, and antioxidant enzyme activities, while increasing reactive oxygen species (ROS) and malondialdehyde (MDA) contents, hormone levels, and EBR biosynthesis gene expression level. However, EBR treatments significantly enhanced cucumber seedling growth and the strong seedling index, chlorophyll content, photosynthetic capacity, activities of antioxidant enzymes, the cell membrane stability, and endogenous hormones, and upregulated EBR biosynthesis gene expression level, while decreasing ROS and the MDA content. Based on these results, it can be concluded that exogenous EBR regulates endogenous hormones by activating at the transcript level EBR biosynthetic genes, which increases antioxidant enzyme capacity levels and reduces the overproduction of ROS and MDA, protecting chlorophyll and photosynthetic machinery, thus improving cucumber seedling growth.

Abstract
In general, the spatial distribution of individual photons (signal or idler) generated by spontaneous parametric down-conversion (SPDC) does not evidently show any particular spatial mode structure because of their randomness in generation and the incoherent nature. Here, we numerically showed that all individual photons generated by the SPDC process carry the transverse amplitude as that of the pump and then confirmed it experimentally. The pump amplitude is revealed in SPDC when individual photons are spatially filtered from the total SPDC distribution. This is observed simply by imaging the photons that are filtered using a minimum-sized aperture. The phase measurements showed that the observed mode distribution does not possess the transverse phase distribution as that of the pump.

Abstract
Heterotrimeric guanine nucleotide-binding proteins (G proteins) composed of alpha (Gα), beta (Gβ), and gamma (Gγ) subunits are central signal transducers mediating the cellular response to multiple stimuli, such as cold, in eukaryotes. Plant Gγ subunits, divided into A, B, and C three structurally distinct types, provide proper cellular localization and functional specificity to the heterotrimer complex. Here, we demonstrate that a type C Gγ subunit CsGG3.2 is involved in the regulation of the CBF regulon and plant tolerance to cold stresses in cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.). We showed that CsGG3.2 transcript abundance was positively induced by cold treatments. Transgenic cucumber plants (T1) constitutively over-expressing CsGG3.2 exhibits tolerance to chilling conditions and increased expression of CBF genes and their regulon. Antioxidative enzymes, i.e., superoxide dismutase, catalase, peroxidase, and glutathione reductase activities increased in cold-stressed transgenic plants. The reactive oxygen species, oxygen free radical and H2O2, production, as well as membrane lipid peroxidation (MDA) production decreased in transgenic plants, suggesting a better antioxidant system to cope the oxidative-damages caused by cold stress. These findings provide evidence for a critical role of CsGG3.2 in mediating cold signal transduction in plant cells.

Abstract
Folic acid (FA) is an electroactive compound of biological origin. It helps our body to produce and maintain healthy cells. It can significantly reduce the occurrence of neural tube defects and also prevents change in DNA structure. FA deficiency can lead to various health risks. Therefore, a sensitive, specific, and reproducible way of FA detection is essential. A number of analytical methods are in practice for the quantification of FA. However, electroanalytical methods are attracting much attention because of their advantage over conventional methods, as they are fast, simple, sensitive, and cost effective. Moreover, modification of electrodes offers control over size and morphology which allows miniaturization for applicability in portable electrochemical devices.

Abstract
The 24th annual symposium of the International Isotope Society's United Kingdom Group took place at the Møller Centre, Churchill College, Cambridge, UK on Friday 6th November 2015. The meeting was attended by 77 delegates from academia and industry, the life sciences, chemical, radiochemical and scientific instrument suppliers. Delegates were welcomed by Dr Ken Lawrie (GlaxoSmithKline, UK, chair of the IIS UK group). The subsequent scientific programme consisted of oral presentations, short 'flash' presentations in association with particular posters and poster presentations. The scientific areas covered included isotopic synthesis, regulatory issues, applications of labelled compounds in imaging, isotopic separation and novel chemistry with potential implications for isotopic synthesis. Both short-lived and long-lived isotopes were represented, as were stable isotopes. The symposium was divided into a morning session chaired by Dr Rebekka Hueting (University of Oxford, UK) and afternoon sessions chaired by Dr Sofia Pascu (University of Bath, UK) and by Dr Alan Dowling (Syngenta, UK). The UK meeting concluded with remarks from Dr Ken Lawrie (GlaxoSmithKline, UK).

Abstract
Leucine-rich repeats and immunoglobulin-like domains (LRIG)-1 belong to the family of proteins known to be expressed in skin. Ablation of LRIG1 in mice results in epidermal hyperplasia and its aberrant expression levels have been reported in pathological conditions such as psoriasis, thus evident of an indispensible role of LRIG1 in maintaining epidermal homeostasis. In order to gain insight into the homeostatic expression of LRIG1 and in various stages of cutaneous wound healing, LRIG1 expression was immunohistochemically analyzed in full thickness skin wounds in mice. The full thickness skin wounds were established on the dorsal back of Balb/c mice (n=6). LRIG1 expression at various post wounding days (1, 2, 3, 6 and 14) was determined through Immunohistochemical analysis (IHC) of the murine skin sections. The injury caused a sharp decline in LRIG1 expression in the basal epidermal cells and appendages surrounding the wound which correlates with the re-epithelialization phase of healing. LRIG1 expression remained down regulated during most of the wound healing stages. LRIG1+ cells were found to re-populate the neo-epidermis on day 14, suggesting an important homeostatic role of LRIG1 in skin.

Abstract
We show, both theoretically and experimentally, that the propagation of optical vortices in free space can be analyzed by using the width [w(z)] of the host Gaussian beam and the inner and outer radii of the vortex beam at the source plane (z=0) as defined in [Opt. Lett.39, 4364 (2014)10.1364/OL.39.004364OPLEDP0146-9592]. We also studied the divergence of vortex beams, considered as the rate of change of inner or outer radius with the propagation distance (z), and found that it varies with the order in the same way as that of the inner and outer radii at z=0. These results may be useful in designing optical fibers for orbital angular momentum modes that play a crucial role in quantum communication.
