Abstract
OBJECTIVES to analyze the social representations of rural women about being a woman in the rural context and its implications for sexual and reproductive health. METHODS this is a descriptive qualitative study with data triangulation, based on the Theory of Social Representations, developed with 31 women who live in the rural context of Minas Gerais (MG/BR). An in-depth interview with a semi-structured script was conducted. A lexical analysis was performed with the help of the ALCESTE 2012 software. RESULTS the family relationship, especially the couple's, demonstrated subjectivities and was permeated by violence and normalized sexual practice. The imagery dimension of the ideal family seems to be responsible for exerting domination over rural women. FINAL CONSIDERATIONS rural women are subject to the norms and prescriptions of a patriarchal society. It is urgent to increase attention to sexual and reproductive health in an egalitarian and liberating way in order to minimize the consequences of machismo and conservatism.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To analyze the social representations of nursing students about transsexuality and the health demands of transsexual people. METHODS Qualitative, descriptive research with undergraduate nursing students from a public university in Rio de Janeiro/Brazil. The data came from a semi-structured interview and lexical analysis using Alceste 2012 software. RESULTS Transsexuality was represented as a transgression, with the transsexual person being objectified as unnatural because they do not identify with their biological sex. Hormone therapy and sex reassignment surgeries were understood as the main demands, being anchored in a pathologizing and medicalizing health sphere. However, the theme is not addressed during graduation, generating unpreparedness for professional life. FINAL CONSIDERATIONS The need to update the academic curriculum, as well as the way of thinking about the care of transsexual people, is essential and urgent for an integral and equitable care.

Abstract

Abstract
ABSTRACT Objective to analyze riverside men's knowledge and ways of acting regarding condom use, based on the social representations about the device. Method a qualitative study anchored in the Theory of Social Representations and conducted with 21 riverside men from the São Carlos do Jamari community, Porto Velho, Rondônia, Brazil. Data collection was performed between January and July 2019 by means of an interview with a semi-structured questionnaire. For data processing, the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences software was used, obtaining the participants' characterization through descriptive statistics, in addition to IRAMUTEq® for the lexical analysis of the speeches, by means of the Descending Hierarchical Classification, obtaining five thematic classes, among which Class 5 was deepened on in this study. Results the social representations were produced by adult participants, with complete High School, per capita family income of up to one minimum wage, and sexually active with irregular condom use. It was identified that the participants develop a cognitive dimension, which reveals their knowledge about condoms as a form of prevention; however, elements such as interference in pleasure, stable relationship and a negative evaluative dimension result in irregular use of the device and in risky behaviors in their sexual practices. Conclusion social representations are anchored in reified knowledge, in the discourse of the preventive functionality of condoms, and in masculinity stereotypes. Consequently, the riverside men's knowledge is not manifested in their behaviors. Therefore, this social group lacks health promotion actions that enable changes in their care behaviors and practices.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES to compare the social representations of reproductive biotechnologies among sexual and reproductive health nurses, and their links with professional practice. METHODS an analytical, comparative, qualitative research, supported by the Theory of Social Representation, carried out in May/2014-February/2015, with 32 nurses from the city of Rio de Janeiro. Semi-structured interview, analyzed by ALCESTE® software. RESULTS nurses not active in assisted human reproduction represent reproductive biotechnologies as unnatural methods of human reproduction, assessing the practice in this field as generalist and bureaucratic. Those who work represent as auxiliary and supporting nature for heterosexual couples, considering the innovative and specialized practice. FINAL CONSIDERATIONS each group presented specific contents and dimensions about reproductive biotechnologies. The representations are centered on moral, normative and ideological personal values, anchored in the traditional conceptions of human and family reproduction, but also collective, acquired in the professional routine, showing group identity and its distinct practices considering reproductive biotechnologies.

Abstract

Abstract
BACKGROUND Cardiac-specific troponin detected with the new high-sensitivity assays can be chronically elevated in response to cardiovascular comorbidities and confer important prognostic information, in the absence of unstable coronary syndromes. Both diabetes mellitus and coronary artery disease are known predictors of troponin elevation. It is not known whether diabetic patients with coronary artery disease have different levels of troponin compared with diabetic patients with normal coronary arteries. To investigate this question, we determined the concentrations of a level 1 troponin assay in two groups of diabetic patients: those with multivessel coronary artery disease and those with angiographically normal coronary arteries. METHODS We studied 95 diabetic patients and compared troponin in serum samples from 50 patients with coronary artery disease (mean age = 63.7, 58 % male) with 45 controls with angiographically normal coronary arteries. Brain natriuretic peptide and the oxidative stress biomarkers myeloperoxidase, nitrotyrosine and oxidized LDL were also determined. RESULTS Diabetic patients with coronary artery disease had higher levels of troponin than did controls (median values, 12.0 pg/mL (95 % CI:10-16) vs 7.0 pg/mL (95 % CI: 5.9-8.5), respectively; p = 0.0001). The area under the ROC curve for the diagnosis of CAD was 0.712 with a sensitivity of 70 % and a specificity of 66 %. Plasma BNP levels and oxidative stress variables (myeloperoxidase, nitrotyrosine, and oxidized LDL) were not different between the two groups. In a multivariate analysis, gender (p = 0.04), serum glucose (0.03) and Troponin I (p = 0.01) had independent statistical significance. CONCLUSION Troponin elevation is related to the presence of chronic coronary artery disease in diabetic patients with multiple associated cardiovascular risk factors. Troponin may serve as a biomarker in this high-risk population. TRIAL REGISTRATION http://www.controlled-trials.com REGISTRATION NUMBER ISRCTN26970041.
