Abstract
The enteropathogen Salmonella Typhimurium (S. Typhimurium) is the most commonly non-typhoideal serotype isolated in pig worldwide. Currently, one of the main sources of human infection is by consumption of pork meat. Therefore, prevention and control of salmonellosis in pigs is crucial for minimizing risks to public health. The aim of the present study was to use isobaric tags for relative and absolute quantification (iTRAQ) to explore differences in the response to Salmonella in two segment of the porcine gut (ileum and colon) along a time course of 1, 2, and 6 days post infection (dpi) with S. Typhimurium. A total of 298 proteins were identified in the infected ileum samples of which, 112 displayed significant expression differences due to Salmonella infection. In colon, 184 proteins were detected in the infected samples of which 46 resulted differentially expressed with respect to the controls. The higher number of changes in protein expression was quantified in ileum at 2 dpi. Further biological interpretation of proteomics data using bioinformatics tools demonstrated that the expression changes in colon were found in proteins involved in cell death and survival, tissue morphology or molecular transport at the early stages and tissue regeneration at 6 dpi. In ileum, however, changes in protein expression were mainly related to immunological and infection diseases, inflammatory response or connective tissue disorders at 1 and 2 dpi. iTRAQ has proved to be a proteomic robust approach allowing us to identify ileum as the earliest response focus upon S. Typhimurium in the porcine gut. In addition, new functions involved in the response to bacteria such as eIF2 signaling, free radical scavengers or antimicrobial peptides (AMP) expression have been identified. Finally, the impairment at of the enterohepatic circulation of bile acids and lipid metabolism by means the under regulation of FABP6 protein and FXR/RXR and LXR/RXR signaling pathway in ileum has been established for the first time in pigs. Taken together, our results provide a better understanding of the porcine response to Salmonella infection and the molecular mechanisms underlying Salmonella-host interactions.

Abstract
In this report we employed laser-capture microdissection (LCM) coupled to qPCR technology and bioinformatic analysis to characterize, for the first time, the response of Peyer's patches (PP) from orally infected animals to Salmonella typhimurium, in a model of non-typhoidal salmonellosis. Pathogen was highly found in the cytoplasm of phagocytes in PP and differential gene expression analysis indicated an up-regulation of proinflammatory molecules, establishment of a Th1 driven response and triggering of DC and T-cell activity. Furthermore, predictions by bioinformatic analysis pointed to an activation of processes regarding stimulation and maturation of DC, influx of leukocytes in tissue and T lymphocytes priming and differentiation. In short, the approach used in this study proved to be a promising strategy to explore infectious processes. Indeed, it revealed an effective induction of innate and adaptive immune mechanisms in swine PP which appear to be distinct from those observed in mesenteric lymph nodes and closely related to response of gut mucosa.

Abstract
Infections caused by Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium (S. typhimurium) cause important economic problems in the swine industry and threaten the integrity of a safe and healthy food supply. Controlling the prevalence of Salmonella in pig production requires a thorough knowledge of the response processes that occurs in the gut associated immune tissues. To explore the in vivo porcine response to S. typhimurium, MLN samples from four control pigs and twelve infected animals at 1, 2 and 6 days post infection (dpi) were collected to quantify the mRNA expression of gene coding for 42 innate immune-related molecules. In addition, the presence of S. typhimurium in MLN was examined and its effect on tissue micro-anatomy. Higher S. typhimurium loads were observed at 2dpi, triggering an innate immune response, marked by a substantial infiltration of phagocytes and up-regulation of pro-inflammatory genes. Such response resulted in a significant decrease in pathogen burden in MLN at 6dpi, although Salmonella could not be completely eliminated from tissue. Furthermore, our results suggest that in porcine infections, S. typhimurium might interferes with dendritic cell-T cell interactions and this strategy could be involved in the conversion of Salmonella infected pigs to a carrier state.

Abstract
The tetra-membrane-spanning protein, CD9 is a 24-27 kDa cell surface glycoprotein expressed in a wide variety of human cells being involved in a variety of cell processes, including signaling, adhesion, motility, fertilization and tumor cells metastasis. By means of a polyclonal antibody (N1) raised against recombinant swine CD9 protein, we studied the immunohistochemical expression of CD9 on different normal swine tissues. Immunochemistry shows that swine CD9 was distribute in a similar form than in human tissues, being present on epithelial cells of lung, liver, kidney, skin, tonsil, testis (epididymo), gut mucosa, uterus and mama. Furthermore, polyclonal antibody against swine CD9 reacts with white matter from cerebrum and cerebellum, peripheral nerves fibers and Hassal corpuscle from thymus and ovum. Platelets react strongly with our antibody, but monocytes and neutrophils react lightly. These results suggest that CD9 antigen should play a similar functional role in swine and human and therefore studies on CD9 on swine as an animal model would allow new knowledge about its role in adhesion, fertilization and tumor metastasis among other important biomedical processes.

Abstract
In May 2009, a stem rot of pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) occurred in a 20-ha field in Hacienda de Tarazona, Seville, in southern Spain. Affected plants appeared singly or were grouped in circular patches as much as 8 to 10 m in diameter. Early symptoms consisted of water-soaked lesions on crown and lower stem tissue in contact with the soil. Plant foliage became pale green and wilted, followed by a complete collapse of the plant. A dense white mycelial mat formed on the lower stem and crown with 1- to 2-mm-diameter, spherical, tan-to-dark brown sclerotia. Lower stem pieces of 12 plants with early disease symptoms were surface sterilized in 0.5% NaOCl, dried, transferred to acidified potato dextrose agar, and incubated at 25 ± 1°C in the dark. Fast-growing fungal colonies with white mycelium and abundant sclerotia developed after 6 to 10 days of incubation. On the basis of morphological characters, the fungus was identified as Sclerotium rolfsii Sacc. (2). To confirm the identity of the pathogen, the ribosomal DNA internal transcribed spacer was amplified and sequenced for two isolates (one of the two exact sequences was deposited as GenBank Accession No. GU080230). The sequence was 99% similar to sequences of Athelia rolfsii (S. rolfsii) in GenBank. Pathogenicity of two isolates was determined by placing two oat seeds colonized by each isolate 0.5 to 1 cm from the stem of 2-week-old pepper plants cv. Cristal (one plant per pot, eight replicates). Plants were incubated in a growth chamber maintained at 28 ± 1°C with a 14-h photoperiod of 360 μE·m-2·s-1 and 60 to 90% relative humidity for 10 days. By the sixth day, discoloration and blight of the foliage and stem was observed. Sclerotia formed around the crown and 88% of the plants died 7 days after inoculation. S. rolfsii was recovered from all affected pepper plants. Noninoculated control plants did not develop symptoms. In southern Spain, S. rolfsii is widely distributed in areas of sugar beet production (1). Abstract
The objectives of these experiments were to evaluate the effect of intravaginal progesterone device on crossbreed Holstein × Carora on pregnancy rate under 2 conditions: cycling and noncycling cows. The first experiment was conducted on 135 noncycling cows (45 ± 3 days postpartum) divided in 2 groups. The first group was treated with a timed AI procedure using a progesterone device for 9 days with an eCG injection on Day 6 and estradiol benzoate after progesterone device removal followed by AI 48 h later. The second group was not treated and they were checked until they came in heat and were inseminated. The second experiment was performed on 123 cycling cows and they were divided in 2 groups. The first group was submitted to a time AI treatment similar to that in experiment 1, and the second group was not treated and they were inseminated upon heat detection. Pregnancy rate on Day 120 postpartum was recorded and pregnancy rate was compared among the different proportion of Holstein (H) × Carora (C) crossbreed cows. For the first experiment, differences (P < 0.05) were observed between ¾ Carora ¼ Holstein (46.15%) compared with the other crossbreed groups (10% 7/8 H 1/8 C, 21.42% 5/8 H 3/8 C, 29.16% ½ H ½ C). In the second experiment, differences (P < 0.05) were observed between ¾ Carora ¼ Holstein (57.14%) compared with the other crossbreed groups (6.66% 7/8 H 1/8 C, 30.76% 5/8 H 3/8 C, 33.33% ½ H ½ C). For the variable pregnancy rate at 120 days postpartum, significant differences (P < 0.05) were observed in cycling cows (39.2%) treated with the progesterone device v. nontreated cows (21%). In noncycling cows, there were no differences between treated and nontreated cows. In conclusion, the use of progesterone device did not improve pregnancy rate in the noncycling cows, which could be related to the negative energy balance that cows undergo during the first part of gestation. However, the use of the progesterone device in cycling cows did improve the pregnancy rate compared with nontreated, cycling cows. We demonstrated that this dairy farm has a serious problem in detecting estrous, which was help by use of the progesterone device and timed AI. Also, the Carora blood included in dairy animals help them to perform better under tropical conditions and they can became pregnant much faster than animals with a high level of Holstein blood.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Capsiate, the non-pungent ester isoster of capsaicin, and its dihydroderivative are the major capsaicinoids of sweet peppers. The remarkable difference between the sensory properties of capsaicin vs capsiate is solely due to the way the vanillyl and the acyl moieties of this basic structural motif are linked, via an amide bond in capsaicin-type compounds and via an ester bond in capsiate-type compounds. AIM OF THE STUDY Since capsaicin induces apoptosis in tumoral cells by a vanilloid receptor type 1(VR1)-independent pathway, we examined the effects of capsiates derived from sweet peppers in the ROS generation and induction of apoptosis in tumoral cells and if these are mediated independently from VR1. METHODS We have developed an expeditious synthesis of capsiates based on the esterification of vanillol with the Mitsunobu protocol. Capsiate-induction of apoptosis, generation of reactive oxygen species and disruption of the mitochondria transmembrane potential in tumoral cell lines were measured by flow cytometry. Chemopreventive activity was studied in a two-stage mouse skin carcinogenesis assay. RESULTS Capsiates induce apoptosis that was preceded by an increase in the production of reactive oxygen species and by a subsequent loss of mitochondria transmembrane potential (DeltaPsi(m)). These properties were retained in simplified synthetic analogues of natural capsiates, one of which (nor-dihydrocapsiate) showed powerful chemopreventive activity. CONCLUSIONS These results suggest that capsiates and related synthetic analogues target a variety of pathways involved in cancer development and inflammation, and have considerable potential for dietary health benefits as well as for pharmaceutical development.

Abstract
Evidence was found that supports the existence of a major gene (designated as the slick hair gene), dominant in mode of inheritance, that is responsible for producing a very short, sleek hair coat. Cattle with slick hair were observed to maintain lower rectal temperatures (RT). The gene is found in Senepol cattle and criollo (Spanish origin) breeds in Central and South America. This gene is also found in a Venezuelan composite breed, the Carora, formed from the Brown Swiss and a Venezuelan criollo breed. Two sets of backcross matings of normal-haired sire breeds to Senepol crossbred dams assumed to be heterozygous for the slick hair gene resulted in ratios of slick to normal-haired progeny that did not significantly differ from 1:1. Data from Carora x Holstein crossbred cows in Venezuela also support the concept of a major gene that is responsible for the slick hair coat of the Carora breed. Cows that were 75% Holstein: 25% Carora in breed composition segregated with a ratio that did not differ from 1:1, as would be expected from a backcross matinginvolving a dominant gene. The effect of the slick hair gene on RT depended on the degree of heat stress and appeared to be affected by age and/or lactation status. The decreased RT observed for slick-haired crossbred calves compared to normal-haired contemporaries ranged from 0.18 to 0.4 degrees C. An even larger decrease in RT (0.61 degrees C; P < 0.01) was observed in lactating Carora x Holstein F1 crossbred cows, even though it did not appear that these cows were under severe heat stress. The improved thermotolerance of crossbred calves due to their slick hair coats did not result in increased weaning weights, possibly because both the slick and normal-haired calves were being nursed by slick-haired dams. There were indications that the slick-haired calves grew faster immediately following weaning and that their growth during the cooler months of the year was not compromised significantly by their reduced quantity of hair. In the Carora x Holstein crossbred cows there was a positive effect of slick hair on milk yield under dry, tropical conditions.

Immunosuppressive activity of capsaicinoids: capsiate derived from sweet peppers inhibits NF-kappaB activation and is a potent antiinflammatory compound in vivo. Eur J Immunol 2002; 32:1753-63. Abstract
Capsiate and its dihydroderivatives are the major capsaicinoids of sweet pepper. These new capsaicinoids do not activate the vanilloid receptor type 1 (VR1) but they share with capsaicin (CPS)some biological activities mediated in a VR1-independent fashion. In this study we show that CPS and nordihydrocapsiate (CPT) inhibit early and late events in T cell activation, including CD69, CD25 and ICAM-1 cell surface expression, progression to the S phase of the cell cycle and proliferation in response to TCR and CD28 co-engagement. Moreover, both CPS and CPT inhibit NF-kappaB activation in response to different agents including TNF-alpha. CPS itself does not affect the DNA-binding ability of NF-kappaB but it prevents IkappaB kinase activation and IkappaBalpha degradation in a dose-dependent manner, without inhibiting the activation of the mitogen-activated protein kinases, p38, extracellular regulated kinase and c-Jun N-terminal protein kinase. Moreover, intraperitoneal pretreatment with CPT prevented mice from lethal septic shock induced by lipopolysaccharide. In a second model of inflammation CPT pretreatment greatly reduced the extensive damage in the glandular epithelium observed in the bowel of DSS-treated mice. Taken together, these results suggest that CPT and related synthetic analogues target specific pathways involved in inflammation, and hold considerable potential for dietary health benefits as well as for pharmaceutical development.

Abstract
CD61 is a membrane glycoprotein that associates with CD41 (alphaIIb) to form the heterodimeric complex gpIIb/IIIa (CD41/CD61), predominantly expressed in platelets and megakariocytes. CD61 or beta3 integrin also associates with alpha v (CD51) to form the vitronectin receptor, which is expressed in many tissues. We have used a monoclonal antibody against the porcine gpIIIa or CD61 (JM2E5) to study the distribution of this molecule in different normal pig tissues. As in humans, CD61 was broadly expressed in all tissues examined. In the kidney, strong expression of CD61 was observed in epithelial cells from renal tubules. In the testis, CD61 expression was detected in the Leydig cells. However, in liver, CD61 was weak or not detected. Many integrins are particularly involved in tumogenicity and in tumor progression mediating cell-cell interaction. Immunofluorescence experiments using cultured human tumor HeLa cells showed nuclear and cytoplasmic staining of mAb JM2E5. Immunohistochemical analysis of human tumor sections from several organs showed a heterogeneus distribution in metastatic cases from colon and breast carcinoma. However, no staining was found in metastasis from melanoma.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Ingenol derivatives have received constant and multidisciplinary attention on account of their pleiotropic pattern of biological activity. This includes activation of protein kinase C (PKC), tumour-promotion, anticancer, and anti-HIV properties, and the possibility of dissecting co-cancerogenic and clinically useful activities has been demonstrated. Certain ingenol esters show powerful anticancer activity, and a structure-activity relationship model to discriminate between their apoptotic and non-apoptotic properties has been developed. RESULTS The polyhydroxylated southern region of ingenol was selectively modified, using the anticancer and PKC activator ingenol 3,20-dibenzoate (IDB) as a lead compound. The evaluation of IDB analogues in apoptosis assays showed strict structure-activity relationships, benzoylation of the 20-hydroxyl being required to trigger apoptosis through a pathway involving caspase-3 and occurring at the specific cell cycle checkpoint that controls the S-M phase transition. Conversely, a study on the activation of the PKC-dependent transcription factors AP-1 and NF-kappaB by IDB analogues showed significant molecular flexibility, including tolerance to changes at the 3- and 20-hydroxyls. IDB-induced apoptosis was independent of activation of PKC, since it was not affected by treatment with the non-isoform-selective PKC inhibitor GF 109230X0. CONCLUSIONS Remarkable deviations from the tumour-promotion pharmacophore were observed for both the apoptotic and the PKC-activating properties of IDB analogues, showing that ingenol is a viable template to selectively target crucial pathways involved in tumour promotion and development. Since the apoptotic and the PKC-activating properties of ingenoids are mediated by different pathways and governed by distinct structure-activity relationships, it is possible to dissect them by suitable chemical modification. In this context, the esterification pattern of the 5- and 20-hydroxyls is critical.

Abstract
A total of 14 antibodies were found to label resting and/or activated swine platelets. Six recognized CD previously characterized for swine (CD29, CD41/61 and CD46). One had been characterized for human cells (CD47). Two antibodies with CD14 and SLA class I specificity suggested by the donor as well as five blind antibodies were also positive on platelets. One antibody appeared to recognize the swine homologue to human CD47, and four remained unclustered.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Vanilloids, such as capsaicin and resiniferatoxin (RTX), are recognized at the cell surface by vanilloid receptor type 1 (VR1), which has recently been cloned. VR1 mediates the effects of capsaicin and RTX in VR1-expressing cells, but vanilloids can induce apoptosis through a pathway not mediated by VR1. Phorboid 20-homovanillates can be used to investigate cell death induced by vanilloids. RESULTS 12,13-Diacylphorbol-20 homovanillates were prepared by the sequential esterification of the natural polyol. Phorbol 12-phenylacetate 13-acetate 20-homovanillate (PPAHV) induced apoptosis in Jurkat cells to the same extent as RTX. Apoptosis was preceded by an increase in intracellular reactive oxygen species and by the loss of mitochondrial transmembrane potential. PPAHV-induced apoptosis was mediated by a pathway involving caspase-3 activation and was initiated at the S phase of the cell cycle. The cell-death pathway triggered by VR1 activation was studied in 293T cells transfected with the cloned rat vanilloid receptor. In this system, capsaicin and PPAHV induced cell death by an apparent necrotic mechanism, which was selectively inhibited by the competitive vanilloid receptor antagonist capsazepine. Interestingly, phorbol-12, 13-bisnonanoate-20-homovanillate, an analogue of PPAHV, induced cell death in VR1-transfected cells but could not trigger apoptosis in the Jurkat cell line. CONCLUSIONS Vanilloids can induce cell death through different signalling pathways. The cell death induced in a VR1-independent manner has the hallmark of apoptosis, whereas the cell death mediated by vanilloids binding to VR1 is seemingly necrotic. Phorboid homovanillates that have antitumour and anti-inflammatory activities but lack the undesirable side effects of the natural vanilloids could be developed as potential drugs.

Abstract
HIV-1 gene expression is regulated by the promoter/enhancer located within the U3 region of the proviral 5' LTR that contains multiple potential cis-acting regulatory sites. Here we describe that the inhibitor of the cellular ribonucleoside reductase, hydroxyurea (HU), inhibited phorbol myristate acetate- or tumour necrosis factor-alpha-induced HIV-1-LTR transactivation in both lymphoid and non-lymphoid cells in a dose-dependent manner within the first 6 h of treatment, with a 50% inhibitory concentration of 0.5 mM. This inhibition was found to be specific for the HIV-1-LTR since transactivation of either an AP-1-dependent promoter or the CD69 gene promoter was not affected by the presence of HU. Moreover, gel-shift assays in 5.1 cells showed that HU prevented the binding of the NF-kappaB to the kappaB sites located in the HIV-1-LTR region, but it did not affect the binding of both the AP-1 and the Sp-1 transcription factors. By Western blots and cell cycle analyses we detected that HU induced a rapid dephosphorylation of the pRB, the product of the retinoblastoma tumour suppressor gene, and the cell cycle arrest was evident after 24 h of treatment. Thus, HU inhibits HIV-1 promoter activity by a novel pathway that implies an inhibition of the NF-kappaB binding to the LTR promoter. The present study suggests that HU may be useful as a potential therapeutic approach for inhibition of HIV-1 replication through different pathways.

Abstract
The HIV-1 Tat protein, essential for HIV-1 gene expression and viral replication, is known to be secreted by infected cells and has pleiotropic effects on various cell functions. It seems that extracellular Tat may exert its functions on cellular targets by at least two different mechanisms, namely, by adsorptive endocytosis, and by a possible interaction with cell surface receptor(s). Here we report that extracellular Tat activates AIM/CD69 gene transcription through an NF-kappaB-dependent pathway in the erythroleukemia cell line K562. Tat induces NF-kappaB binding to DNA as a result of IkappaBalpha phosphorylation and degradation, which depend on the intracellular redox state. We found that the second Tat-coding exon is required for CD69 gene trans-activation, but not for HIV LTR gene transcription. Fluorescein-labeled Tat proteins were used to study cell surface binding sites and cellular uptake of the proteins. Full-length Tat protein has specific binding sites on the surface of K562 cells, whereas truncated Tat1-48, which is efficiently internalized by the cells, does not bind to the cell surface. Our results suggest that extracellular Tat may activate a cell surface-mediated pathway that induces intracellular signal transduction in K562 cells, leading to the activation of NF-kappaB and the transcription of NF-kappaB-dependent genes, such as CD69.

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine the incidence of autoantibodies in patients with no term pregnancies. Patients selected included 43 with primary infertility and 110 with a history of pregnancy loss. In the first group the incidence of antinuclear antibodies (ANA) and IgG and IgM antiphospholipid antibodies (APL) was 37.2% (p < 0.05) and 53.5% (p < 0.05), respectively. In the group of patients with a history of miscarriage, 31.8% (p < 0.05) were positive for ANA and 38.2% (p < 0.05) for APL. Controls were 35 healthy patients with proven fertility and no history of pregnancy loss or autoimmune disease. In this group the incidence of ANA was 5.7% and 11.4% for APL. The high incidence of autoantibodies found in patients with primary infertility might suggest a direct involvement of these antibodies in reproductive failure and consequently in IVF and assisted fertility procedures. The prevalence of ANA and APL has been extensively described in patients with a history of recurrent pregnancy losses (RPL). In this study we observed antibodies even after the first miscarriage. We therefore conclude that patients with a history of reproductive failure should be immunologically evaluated and treated before undergoing assisted fertilization techniques or before a new pregnancy in those cases of RPL.

Abstract
The proliferation and differentiation of mast cells and Leydig cells were studied in adult sham operated or hypophysectomized rats after the administration of ethylene dimethane sulphonate (EDS) and in prepubertal rats after neonatal treatment with a gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) antagonist (Organon 30276; Oss, The Netherlands). After treatment with EDS, two proliferative waves were found. On day 3, several interstitial cell types proliferated, whereas mitotic cells corresponded to differentiating Leydig cells and mast cells around day 20. Differentiating Leydig cells showed a higher mitotic index than that of differentiating mast cells. Hypophysectomized animals showed high mitotic activity 3 days after treatment, but 21 days after treatment differentiating Leydig cells were absent and proliferative activity was reduced. The number of mast cells increased from day 15 to day 30 in EDS-treated rats and from day 15 to day 50 in hypophysectomized, EDS-treated rats. GnRH antagonist-treated rats showed poorly differentiated Leydig cells and abundant mitotic figures on day 23. Proliferation and differentiation of Leydig cells occurred concomitantly with the proliferation and differentiation of mast cells between 23 and 30 days of age. These results suggest that Leydig cells and mast cells in the rat testis share some common regulatory factors.

Abstract
A procedure utilizing transvaginal aspiration of stimulated gametes followed by transcervical, ultrasound-guided catheterization of the tubal ostia was performed as a modification of the standardized gamete intrafallopian transfer (GIFT) technique. Among 14 patients with 16 cycles there were four normal, intrauterine pregnancies and one ectopic pregnancy. In two patients the beta-human gonadotropin level rose significantly and then started to fall; the patients aborted spontaneously. The procedure can be performed with a higher degree of patient acceptance than can traditional GIFT, and the success rate in this small series was promising.

Abstract
A new technique for vaginal intratubal insemination (VITI) and transvaginal gamete intra-Fallopian transfer (TV-GIFT) using endosonography has been developed. A total of 47 infertile couples were treated using a K-JITS 1000-1100 catheter (William Cook, Australia; Jansen Anderson Intratubal Transfer Set) introduced by Jansen and Anderson in Sydney, Australia, and endosonographic control with a Kretz Combison 310 echograph and a 5/7.5 MHz vaginal sectorial transducer. In 40 couples, the VITI technique was used, and in the other seven couples, TV-GIFT was used. Fifteen pregnancies (37.5%) were obtained in 63 VITI cycles (23.8% per treatment cycle) and three with TV-GIFT (42% per treatment cycle). A review is also presented of the migration--sedimentation technique used for management of male factor in an artificial insemination programme.

Abstract
Sperm washing techniques, based on the swim-up principle used before inseminating the human oocyte in in-vitro fertilization and embryo transfer programmes (IVF-ET), usually require prior centrifugation which causes damage to the sperm cell. A technique is described for separating sperm at laboratory temperature based on sperm migration--sedimentation principles, using two concentric tubes and recovering 70-90% forward-moving cells. A group of 17 patients is presented who were managed with this method. The results were 85% fertilization rate, 4% polyspermia and six clinical pregnancies.
