Abstract
Objective: Awareness of the severity of trauma and the outcome of patients can help physicians decide how long to treat patients. The objective of this study is to design a new score (R-GAP: Revised-GCS, Age, Pressure) for multi-trauma patients and determine its predictive value concerning in-hospital outcome of these patients. Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed in the emergency ward of Imam Reza (AS) and Shohada hospitals (referral centers for trauma patients) affiliated to Tabriz University of Medical Sciences from 2019 to 2020. The sample size of this study was estimated to be 2000 people. Required information was collected and the final diagnosis of the patients was recorded. The hospital outcome was recorded at the time of discharge. Patients’ outcome was also recorded using the Glasgow Outcome Scale (GOS) system. Based on the obtained data, GAP, R-GAP, new trauma score (NTS) scores were also collected and their results were compared with the designed model. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve and logistic regression were used to analyze the predictive value of the scores. Results: The mean age of the subjects was 34.09 (± 15.23) years. The highest outcome of patients based on the GOS system was recovery, moderate disability, and severe disability with 1309 cases (54.9%), 743 cases (31.2%), and 212 cases (8.9%), respectively. The mean of GAP, R-GAP, and NTS scores were 21.83 (± 3.1), 21.47 (± 3.4), and 21.27 (± 3.3), respectively. The intensity of GAP, R-GAP, and NTS in most subjects was low with 2143 cases (89.9%), 1994 cases (83.6%), and 2138 cases (89.7%). Among the significant variables included in the regression model, O2sat, primary GCS, GAP, R-GAP, and NTS with modulation on other variables, significantly equalized the mortality chance by 0.416, 0.622, 0.595, 0.601, 0.637, respectively (P value<0.001). Conclusion: According to the study results, it seems that GAP, R-GAP, and NTS respectively, have the highest strength of predictive value in the survival of patients with multiple traumas. It is suggested that a comprehensive study be conducted to better estimate this issue.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Identifying patients at risk for mortality and using appropriate treatment for each patient based on their situation could be an effective strategy in improving their outcome. This study aimed to evaluated the predictors of COVID-19 in-hospital mortality. METHODS This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted on all adult COVID-19 patients who were managed in Imam-Reza and Sina Hospitals, Tabriz, Iran, from November 2020 until December 2021. The demographic, clinical, and laboratory characteristics of patients were evaluated and predictors of in-hospital mortality were identified using logistic regression model. RESULTS 1000 patients with the mean age of 56.34 ± 18.00 years were studied (65.7% male). There were significant associations between COVID-19 in-hospital mortality and hospitalization above five days (p = 0.001), white blood cell count (WBC) > 4000 Cells*103/mL (p < 0.01), aspartate aminotransferase (AST) above 40 IU/L (p = 0.001), alanine transaminase (ALT) above 40 IU/L (p = 0.001), creatinine above 1.4 mg/dL (p = 0.007), urea above 100 mg/dL (p = 0.024), and SaO2 below 80% (p = 0.001). Hospital stay above five days (OR: 3.473; 95%CI: 1.272 - 9.479; p = 0.15), AST above 40 IU/L (OR: 0.269, 95%CI: 0.179 - 0.402; p = 0.001), creatinine above 1.4 mg/dL (OR: 0.529; 95%CI: 0.344 - 0.813; p = 0.004), urea above 100 mg/dL (OR: 0.327, 95%CI: 0.189 - 0.567; p = 0.001), and SaO2 below 80% (OR: 8.754, 95%CI: 5.413 - 14.156; p = 0.001) were among the independent predictors of COVID-19 in-hospital mortality. CONCLUSION The mortality rate of patients with COVID-19 in our study was 29.9%. Hospitalization of more than five days, AST above 40 IU/L, creatinine above 1.4 mg/dL, urea above 100 mg/dL and SaO2 < 80% were independent risk factors of in-hospital mortality among patients with COVID-19.

Abstract
This study aimed at evaluating the impact of Basic Life Support (BLS) on the knowledge and performance of high school students. During a semi-experimental study, 12068 ninth-grade high school students entered the study. Course content included BLS and airway maneuvers regarding foreign body aspiration. Students' level of knowledge and performance was assessed based on a questionnaire. The mean level of knowledge of students before training was 3(3-2) and after training was 5(4-5). Approximately 60% of students had excellent scores on practical activities. We conclude that resuscitation training can be effective in promoting public health.

Abstract
Since December 2019, the outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has spread worldwide. Although the majority of patients show mild symptoms, the disease can rapidly progress in severe cases and develop acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) that may lead to therapeutic interventions, including oxygenation, tracheal intubation, and mechanical ventilation. It is suggested that the new coronavirus spreads mostly via droplets, surface contact, and natural aerosols. Hence, high-risk aerosol-producing procedures, such as endotracheal intubation, may put the healthcare workers at a high risk of infection. In the course of managing patients with COVID-19, it is essential to prioritize the safety of healthcare workers. Hence, this review study aimed to summarize new guidelines and proper airway management in adult and pediatric COVID-19 patients.

Abstract
The aim of this study was to evaluate the abbreviated burn severity index (ABSI) score and the percentage of full-thickness burn in the prediction of hospital mortality in burn patients admitted to Sina Hospital in Tabriz. A total of 250 burn patients admitted to burn, and ICU wards during December 2016-Sep 2018 entered the present cross-sectional descriptive study. The collected data included age, gender, burn percentage, anatomical location of the burn, cause of the burn, severity of the burn, mucosal or inhalation injury, underlying disease, length of stay (day), and the hospital outcome of the patient. There was a significant difference between the two genders in terms of the cause of burns (P<0.0001). The most common cause of burn-in women and men was hot liquids and fire, respectively. 40% TBSA with 92% sensitivity and 94% specificity and 20% full-thickness burns with 98% sensitivity and 88% specificity was obtained in predicting mortality of patients. ABSI score of 9 with 85% sensitivity and 95% specificity was obtained in predicting mortality in patients. By increasing one unit in the ABSI score, the odds ratio increases by 17.5 times in terms of mortality probability. The present study showed a significant difference between the two genders in terms of the cause of the burn, and it is evidently affected by the culture and lifestyle of our country. On the other hand, an investigation of the cause of death in patients with ABSI>9 and taking appropriate measures to reduce their mortality is recommended. Also, it is recommended to use more simple criteria such as burn percentage or full-thickness burns to predict mortality rate in case of burning injury patients.

Abstract
Introduction: Trauma has been recognized as the leading cause of mortality and morbidityamong children in developed countries. Therefore, it is highly desirable to have a controlprogram in this area. The aim of this study was determining epidemiologic feature and diagnosticoutcome of traumatic pediatric patients referred to emergency department in 2016-2017. Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted at emergency department,Imam-Reza hospital of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences in 2016-2017 on a total of 518traumatic children. Variables of interest were age, gender, location of trauma, mechanism oftrauma, type of transfer to emergency department, time of trauma, and outcome of the incident. Results: Among 518 traumatic children involved in the study, the most common age for traumawas 3-6 years, and 66.4% and 33.6% of the studied population were boys and girls, respectively.Falling (42.5%) was the most common mechanism of trauma, and the most of traumas occurredduring evening (56.9%) and spring (38.8%) time. In additions, 75.5% of traumatic children weretransferred to the emergency department by their family, and among them, only for two casessafety instructions had been considered. Conclusion: In general, the results of this study demonstrated that boys with the age of 3-6 yearsare the most vulnerable group against trauma. Falling and traffic accidents are the main causesof trauma in children, whereas safety devices were not used in the majority of accident cases.Thus, it is highly recommended to use safety equipment for children inside vehicles.
