Abstract
Adequate dietary intake of amino acids is imperative for normal animal growth. Our previous work using rat hepatocarcinoma Fao cells demonstrated that growth hormone (GH) resistance, coupled with a concurrent reduction in insulin-like growth factor 1 (Igf1) mRNA levels, may underlie the growth retardation associated with a low-protein diet (LPD). In this study, we investigated whether FGF21 contributes to liver GH resistance in Fao rat hepatoma cells under amino acid deprivation conditions. Mice subjected to an LPD exhibited growth retardation, compromised GH signaling in the liver, and decreased blood IGF-1 levels compared with those on a control diet. To assess the potential involvement of fibroblast growth factor (FGF) 21, produced in response to amino acid deficiency, in the development of GH resistance, we examined GH signaling and Igf1 mRNA levels in Fao cells cultured in amino acid-deprived medium. Despite the inhibition of Fgf21 expression by the integrated stress response inhibitor, an inhibitor of the eukaryotic initiation factor 2-activating transcription factor 4 pathway, GH resistance persisted in response to amino acid deprivation. Additionally, the introduction of FGF21 into the control medium did not impair either GH signaling or GH-induced Igf1 transcription. These data suggest that, in Fao cells, amino acid deprivation induces GH resistance independently of FGF21 activity. By shedding light on the mechanisms behind growth retardation-associated GH resistance linked to amino acid deficiencies, our findings provide valuable insights for clinicians in formulating effective treatment strategies for individuals facing these challenges.

Abstract
This Letter presents the first study of Higgs boson production in association with a vector boson (V=W or Z) in the fully hadronic qqbb final state using data recorded by the ATLAS detector at the LHC in proton-proton collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 137 fb^{-1}. The vector bosons and Higgs bosons are each reconstructed as large-radius jets and tagged using jet substructure techniques. Dedicated tagging algorithms exploiting b-tagging properties are used to identify jets consistent with Higgs bosons decaying into bb[over ¯]. Dominant backgrounds from multijet production are determined directly from the data, and a likelihood fit to the jet mass distribution of Higgs boson candidates is used to extract the number of signal events. The VH production cross section is measured inclusively and differentially in several ranges of Higgs boson transverse momentum: 250-450, 450-650, and greater than 650 GeV. The inclusive signal yield relative to the standard model expectation is observed to be μ=1.4_{-0.9}^{+1.0} and the corresponding cross section is 3.1±1.3(stat)_{-1.4}^{+1.8}(syst) pb.

Abstract
ATLAS measured the centrality dependence of the dijet yield using 165 nb^{-1} of p+Pb data collected at sqrt[s_{NN}]=8.16 TeV in 2016. The event centrality, which reflects the p+Pb impact parameter, is characterized by the total transverse energy registered in the Pb-going side of the forward calorimeter. The central-to-peripheral ratio of the scaled dijet yields, R_{CP}, is evaluated, and the results are presented as a function of variables that reflect the kinematics of the initial hard parton scattering process. The R_{CP} shows a scaling with the Bjorken x of the parton originating from the proton, x_{p}, while no such trend is observed as a function of x_{Pb}. This analysis provides unique input to understanding the role of small proton spatial configurations in p+Pb collisions by covering parton momentum fractions from the valence region down to x_{p}∼10^{-3} and x_{Pb}∼4×10^{-4}.

Abstract
Searches for new resonances are performed using an unsupervised anomaly-detection technique. Events with at least one electron or muon are selected from 140 fb^{-1} of pp collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV recorded by ATLAS at the Large Hadron Collider. The approach involves training an autoencoder on data, and subsequently defining anomalous regions based on the reconstruction loss of the decoder. Studies focus on nine invariant mass spectra that contain pairs of objects consisting of one light jet or b jet and either one lepton (e,μ), photon, or second light jet or b jet in the anomalous regions. No significant deviations from the background hypotheses are observed. Limits on contributions from generic Gaussian signals with various widths of the resonance mass are obtained for nine invariant masses in the anomalous regions.

Abstract
This Letter reports the observation of WZγ production and a measurement of its cross section using 140.1±1.2 fb^{-1} of proton-proton collision data recorded at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The WZγ production cross section, with both the W and Z bosons decaying leptonically, pp→WZγ→ℓ^{'}^{±}νℓ^{+}ℓ^{-}γ (ℓ^{(^{'})}=e, μ), is measured in a fiducial phase-space region defined such that the leptons and the photon have high transverse momentum and the photon is isolated. The cross section is found to be 2.01±0.30(stat)±0.16(syst) fb. The corresponding standard model predicted cross section calculated at next-to-leading order in perturbative quantum chromodynamics and at leading order in the electroweak coupling constant is 1.50±0.06 fb. The observed significance of the WZγ signal is 6.3σ, compared with an expected significance of 5.0σ.

Abstract
In the present study, we tried to clarify when and how pupal commitment (PT) better to use PC occurs and what is involved in the PT of Bombyx mori. To clarify this, we examined the responsiveness of a wing disc to ecdysone, referring to metamorphosis-related BR-C, development-related Myc and Wnt, and chromatin remodeling-related genes at around the predicted PT stage of the Bombyx wing disc. Wing disc responsiveness to juvenile hormone (JH) and ecdysone was examined using Methoprene and 20-hydroxyecdysone (20E) in vitro. The body weight of B. mori increased after the last larval ecdysis, peaked at Day 5 of the fifth larval instar (D5L5), and then decreased. The responsiveness of the wing disc to JH decreased after the last larval ecdysis up to D3L5. Bmbr-c (the Broad Complex of B. mori) showed enhanced expression in D4L5 wing discs with 20E treatment. Some chromatin remodeler and histone modifier genes (Bmsnr1, Bmutx, and Bmtip60) showed upregulation after being cultured with 20E in D4L5 wing discs. A low concentration of 20E is suggested to induce responsiveness to 20E in D4L5 wing discs. Bmbr-c, Bmsnr1, Bmutx, and Bmtip60 were upregulated after being cultured with a low concentration of 20E in D4L5 wing discs. The expression of Bmmyc and Bmwnt1 did not show a change after being cultured with or without 20E in D4L5 wing discs, while enhanced expression was observed with 20E in D5L5 wing discs. From the present results, we concluded that PT of the wing disc of B. mori occurred beginning on D4L5 with the secretion of low concentrations of ecdysteroids. Bmsnr1, Bmutx, Bmtip60, and BR-C are also involved.

Abstract
A measurement of the mass of the Higgs boson combining the H→ZZ^{*}→4ℓ and H→γγ decay channels is presented. The result is based on 140 fb^{-1} of proton-proton collision data collected by the ATLAS detector during LHC run 2 at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV combined with the run 1 ATLAS mass measurement, performed at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, yielding a Higgs boson mass of 125.11±0.09(stat)±0.06(syst)=125.11±0.11 GeV. This corresponds to a 0.09% precision achieved on this fundamental parameter of the Standard Model of particle physics.

Abstract
A search for events with a dark photon produced in association with a dark Higgs boson via rare decays of the standard model Z boson is presented, using 139 fb^{-1} of sqrt[s]=13 TeV proton-proton collision data recorded by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The dark boson decays into a pair of dark photons, and at least two of the three dark photons must each decay into a pair of electrons or muons, resulting in at least two same-flavor opposite-charge lepton pairs in the final state. The data are found to be consistent with the background prediction, and upper limits are set on the dark photon's coupling to the dark Higgs boson times the kinetic mixing between the standard model photon and the dark photon, α_{D}ϵ^{2}, in the dark photon mass range of [5, 40] GeV except for the ϒ mass window [8.8, 11.1] GeV. This search explores new parameter space not previously excluded by other experiments.

Abstract
PURPOSE This systematic review updates the MASCC/ESMO recommendations for high-emetic-risk chemotherapy (HEC) published in 2016-2017. HEC still includes cisplatin, carmustine, dacarbazine, mechlorethamine, streptozocin, and cyclophosphamide in doses of > 1500 mg/m2 and the combination of cyclophosphamide and an anthracycline (AC) in women with breast cancer. METHODS A systematic review report following the PRISMA guidelines of the literature from January 1, 2015, until February 1, 2023, was performed. PubMed (Ovid), Scopus (Google), and the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews were searched. The literature search was limited to randomized controlled trials, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses. RESULTS Forty-six new references were determined to be relevant. The main topics identified were (1) steroid-sparing regimens, (2) olanzapine-containing regimens, and (3) other issues such as comparisons of antiemetics of the same drug class, intravenous NK1 receptor antagonists, and potentially new antiemetics. Five updated recommendations are presented. CONCLUSION There is no need to prescribe steroids (dexamethasone) beyond day 1 after AC HEC, whereas a 4-day regimen is recommended in non-AC HEC. Olanzapine is now recommended as a fixed part of a four-drug prophylactic antiemetic regimen in both non-AC and AC HEC. No major differences between 5-HT3 receptor antagonists or between NK1 receptor antagonists were identified. No new antiemetic agents qualified for inclusion in the updated recommendations.

Abstract
This Letter reports the observation of single top quarks produced together with a photon, which directly probes the electroweak coupling of the top quark. The analysis uses 139 fb^{-1} of 13 TeV proton-proton collision data collected with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. Requiring a photon with transverse momentum larger than 20 GeV and within the detector acceptance, the fiducial cross section is measured to be 688±23(stat) _{-71}^{+75}(syst) fb, to be compared with the standard model prediction of 515_{-42}^{+36} fb at next-to-leading order in QCD.

This letter presents a measurement of the nuclear modification factor of large-radius jets in sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV Pb+Pb collisions by the ATLAS experiment. The measurement is performed using 1.72 nb^{-1} and 257 pb^{-1} of Pb+Pb and pp data, respectively. The large-radius jets are reconstructed with the anti-k_{t} algorithm using a radius parameter of R=1.0, by reclustering anti-k_{t} R=0.2 jets, and are measured over the transverse momentum (p_{T}) kinematic range of 158

Abstract
A key open question in the study of multiparticle production in high-energy pp collisions is the relationship between the "ridge"-i.e., the observed azimuthal correlations between particles in the underlying event that extend over all rapidities-and hard or semihard scattering processes. In particular, it is not known whether jets or their soft fragments are correlated with particles in the underlying event. To address this question, two-particle correlations are measured in pp collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV using data collected by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC, with an integrated luminosity of 15.8 pb^{-1}, in two different configurations. In the first case, charged particles associated with jets are excluded from the correlation analysis, while in the second case, correlations are measured between particles within jets and charged particles from the underlying event. Second-order flow coefficients, v_{2}, are presented as a function of event multiplicity and transverse momentum. These measurements show that excluding particles associated with jets does not affect the measured correlations. Moreover, particles associated with jets do not exhibit any significant azimuthal correlations with the underlying event, ruling out hard processes contributing to the ridge.

Abstract
A search is made for potential ccc[over ¯]c[over ¯] tetraquarks decaying into a pair of charmonium states in the four muon final state using proton-proton collision data at sqrt[s]=13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 140 fb^{-1} recorded by the ATLAS experiment at LHC. Two decay channels, J/ψ+J/ψ→4μ and J/ψ+ψ(2S)→4μ, are studied. Backgrounds are estimated based on a hybrid approach involving Monte Carlo simulations and data-driven methods. Statistically significant excesses with respect to backgrounds dominated by the single parton scattering are seen in the di-J/ψ channel consistent with a narrow resonance at 6.9 GeV and a broader structure at lower mass. A statistically significant excess is also seen in the J/ψ+ψ(2S) channel. The fitted masses and decay widths of the structures are reported.

Abstract
This Letter reports the observation of τ-lepton-pair production in ultraperipheral lead-lead collisions Pb+Pb→Pb(γγ→ττ)Pb and constraints on the τ-lepton anomalous magnetic moment a_{τ}. The dataset corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 1.44 nb^{-1} of LHC Pb+Pb collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV recorded by the ATLAS experiment in 2018. Selected events contain one muon from a τ-lepton decay, an electron or charged-particle track(s) from the other τ-lepton decay, little additional central-detector activity, and no forward neutrons. The γγ→ττ process is observed in Pb+Pb collisions with a significance exceeding 5 standard deviations and a signal strength of μ_{ττ}=1.03_{-0.05}^{+0.06} assuming the standard model value for a_{τ}. To measure a_{τ}, a template fit to the muon transverse-momentum distribution from τ-lepton candidates is performed, using a dimuon (γγ→μμ) control sample to constrain systematic uncertainties. The observed 95% confidence-level interval for a_{τ} is -0.057

Abstract
As presently conceptualised, the artificial placenta (AP) is an experimental life support platform for extremely preterm infants (i.e. 400-600 g; 21-23+6 weeks of gestation) born at the border of viability. It is based around the oxygenation of the periviable fetus using gas-exchangers connected to the fetal vasculature. In this system, the lung remains fluid-filled and the fetus remains in a quiescent state. The AP has been in development for some sixty years. Over this time, animal experimental models have evolved iteratively from employing external pump-driven systems used to support comparatively mature fetuses (generally goats or sheep) to platforms driven by the fetal heart and used successfully to maintain extremely premature fetuses weighing around 600 g. Simultaneously, sizable advances in neonatal and obstetric care mean that the nature of a potential candidate patient for this therapy, and thus the threshold success level for justifying its adoption, have both changed markedly since this approach was first conceived. Five landmark breakthroughs have occurred over the developmental history of the AP: i) the first human studies reported in the 1950's; ii) foundation animal studies reported in the 1960's; iii) the first extended use of AP technology combined with fetal pulmonary resuscitation reported in the 1990s; iv) the development of AP systems powered by the fetal heart reported in the 2000's; and v) the adaption of this technology to maintain extremely preterm fetuses (i.e. 500-600 g body weight) reported in the 2010's. Using this framework, the present paper will provide a review of the developmental history of this long-running experimental system and up-to-date assessment of the published field today. With the apparent acceleration of AP technology towards clinical application, there has been an increase in the attention paid to the field, along with some inaccurate commentary regarding its potential application and merits. Additionally, this paper will address several misrepresentations regarding the potential application of AP technology that serve to distract from the significant potential of this approach to greatly improve outcomes for extremely preterm infants born at or close to the present border of viability.

Abstract
Jet quenching is the process of color-charged partons losing energy via interactions with quark-gluon plasma droplets created in heavy-ion collisions. The collective expansion of such droplets is well described by viscous hydrodynamics. Similar evidence of collectivity is consistently observed in smaller collision systems, including pp and p+Pb collisions. In contrast, while jet quenching is observed in Pb+Pb collisions, no evidence has been found in these small systems to date, raising fundamental questions about the nature of the system created in these collisions. The ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider has measured the yield of charged hadrons correlated with reconstructed jets in 0.36 nb^{-1} of p+Pb and 3.6 pb^{-1} of pp collisions at 5.02 TeV. The yields of charged hadrons with p_{T}^{ch}>0.5 GeV near and opposite in azimuth to jets with p_{T}^{jet}>30 or 60 GeV, and the ratios of these yields between p+Pb and pp collisions, I_{pPb}, are reported. The collision centrality of p+Pb events is categorized by the energy deposited by forward neutrons from the struck nucleus. The I_{pPb} values are consistent with unity within a few percent for hadrons with p_{T}^{ch}>4 GeV at all centralities. These data provide new, strong constraints that preclude almost any parton energy loss in central p+Pb collisions.

A search for a long-lived, heavy neutral lepton (N) in 139 fb^{-1} of sqrt[s]=13 TeV pp collision data collected by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider is reported. The N is produced via W→Nμ or W→Ne and decays into two charged leptons and a neutrino, forming a displaced vertex. The N mass is used to discriminate between signal and background. No signal is observed, and limits are set on the squared mixing parameters of the N with the left-handed neutrino states for the N mass range 3 GeV

Abstract
A test of CP invariance in Higgs boson production via vector-boson fusion has been performed in the H→γγ channel using 139 fb^{-1} of proton-proton collision data at sqrt[s]=13 TeV collected by the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The optimal observable method is used to probe the CP structure of interactions between the Higgs boson and electroweak gauge bosons, as described by an effective field theory. No sign of CP violation is observed in the data. Constraints are set on the parameters describing the strength of the CP-odd component in the coupling between the Higgs boson and the electroweak gauge bosons in two effective field theory bases: d[over ˜] in the HISZ basis and c_{HW[over ˜]} in the Warsaw basis. The results presented are the most stringent constraints on CP violation in the coupling between Higgs and weak bosons. The 95% C.L. constraint on d[over ˜] is derived for the first time and the 95% C.L. constraint on c_{HW[over ˜]} has been improved by a factor of 5 compared to the previous measurement.

Abstract
The quantum vortex liquid (QVL) is an intriguing state of type-II superconductors in which intense quantum fluctuations of the superconducting (SC) order parameter destroy the Abrikosov lattice even at very low temperatures. Such a state has only rarely been observed, however, and remains poorly understood. One of the key questions is the precise origin of such intense quantum fluctuations and the role of nearby non-SC phases or quantum critical points in amplifying these effects. Here we report a high-field magnetotransport study of FeSe1-xSx and FeSe1-xTex which show a broad QVL regime both within and beyond their respective electron nematic phases. A clear correlation is found between the extent of the QVL and the strength of the superconductivity. This comparative study enables us to identify the essential elements that promote the QVL regime in unconventional superconductors and to demonstrate that the QVL regime itself is most extended wherever superconductivity is weakest.

Abstract
An official analytical method for chlorophyll degradation compounds, including pheophorbide, in chlorella products, is described in notification Kanshoku No. 99 (May 8, 1981). However, this method has several operational issues, such as the formation of emulsion during liquid-liquid partitioning. Additionally, impurities present in the reagents (sodium sulfate decahydrate or anhydrous sodium sulfate) used to prepare saturated sodium sulfate solution can degrade pheophorbide and other related compounds, resulting in a significant decrease in analytical values. In this study, we thoroughly examined each step of the official method to enhance the operability and develop an alternative method that eliminates the need for saturated sodium sulfate solution. The developed method was evaluated for pheophorbide a and pyropheophorbide a at 100 mg%. Satisfactory analytical performance was achieved with trueness of 100% for pheophorbide a and 90% for pyropheophorbide a, and relative standard deviations of intra- and inter-day precision below 5% for both compounds. The proposed method is considered suitable for regulatory analysis of chlorophyll degradation compounds and would be useful for quality control of chlorella products.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Encephalitis due to vaccination for mumps is a rare complication that occurs in 0.00004% of recipients, and there has been no report of serious neurological sequelae. Acute encephalopathy with biphasic seizures and late reduced diffusion (AESD) has been reported as the most frequent type among acute encephalopathy syndromes in the pediatric population in Japan. There has been no report of AESD caused by vaccinations. Case presentation We present the clinical course of a 1-year and 10-month-old boy who had no preexisting condition, and developed mumps vaccine-induced severe primary encephalitis. Refractory status epilepticus due to encephalitis persisted for 16 h and resulted in secondary encephalopathy as a form of AESD mimic. He had serious neurological sequelae, such as West syndrome, transient spastic tetraplegia, and intellectual disability, despite intensive treatments. DISCUSSION The presented boy is the first patient to develop mumps vaccine-induced primary encephalitis with severe central nervous system (CNS) damage. Screening of the immunological background in the presented patient revealed no abnormalities; therefore, it is unclear why he developed such severe adverse events. In patients with acute encephalitis caused by the herpes simplex virus 1, inborn immune errors in CNS based on mutations in single genes are involved in its pathophysiology. Consequently, some immunogenetic alterations could be found by further analysis in the presented patient.

Abstract
Transforming growth factor β (TGF-β) increases epithelial cancer cell migration and metastasis by inducing epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). TGF-β also inhibits cell proliferation by inducing G1 phase cell-cycle arrest. However, the correlation between these tumor-promoting and -suppressing effects remains unclear. Here, we show that TGF-β confers higher motility and metastatic ability to oral cancer cells in G1 phase. Mechanistically, keratin-associated protein 2-3 (KRTAP2-3) is a regulator of these dual effects of TGF-β, and its expression is correlated with tumor progression in patients with head and neck cancer and migratory and metastatic potentials of oral cancer cells. Furthermore, single-cell RNA sequencing reveals that TGF-β generates two populations of mesenchymal cancer cells with differential cell-cycle status through two distinctive EMT pathways mediated by Slug/HMGA2 and KRTAP2-3. Thus, TGF-β-induced KRTAP2-3 orchestrates cancer cell proliferation and migration by inducing EMT, suggesting motile cancer cells arrested in G1 phase as a target to suppress metastasis.

Abstract
This Letter reports the observation of WWW production and a measurement of its cross section using 139 fb^{-1} of proton-proton collision data recorded at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. Events with two same-sign leptons (electrons or muons) and at least two jets, as well as events with three charged leptons, are selected. A multivariate technique is then used to discriminate between signal and background events. Events from WWW production are observed with a significance of 8.0 standard deviations, where the expectation is 5.4 standard deviations. The inclusive WWW production cross section is measured to be 820±100 (stat)±80 (syst) fb, approximately 2.6 standard deviations from the predicted cross section of 511±18 fb calculated at next-to-leading-order QCD and leading-order electroweak accuracy.

Abstract
The standard model of particle physics1-4 describes the known fundamental particles and forces that make up our Universe, with the exception of gravity. One of the central features of the standard model is a field that permeates all of space and interacts with fundamental particles5-9. The quantum excitation of this field, known as the Higgs field, manifests itself as the Higgs boson, the only fundamental particle with no spin. In 2012, a particle with properties consistent with the Higgs boson of the standard model was observed by the ATLAS and CMS experiments at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN10,11. Since then, more than 30 times as many Higgs bosons have been recorded by the ATLAS experiment, enabling much more precise measurements and new tests of the theory. Here, on the basis of this larger dataset, we combine an unprecedented number of production and decay processes of the Higgs boson to scrutinize its interactions with elementary particles. Interactions with gluons, photons, and W and Z bosons-the carriers of the strong, electromagnetic and weak forces-are studied in detail. Interactions with three third-generation matter particles (bottom (b) and top (t) quarks, and tau leptons (τ)) are well measured and indications of interactions with a second-generation particle (muons, μ) are emerging. These tests reveal that the Higgs boson discovered ten years ago is remarkably consistent with the predictions of the theory and provide stringent constraints on many models of new phenomena beyond the standard model.

Study question
Despite the high rate of sperm chromosome abnormalities in testicular germ cell tumor (TGCT), why is newborn aneuploidy rate in pregnancies with TGCT patient normal?
Summary answer
Miscarriage rate is higher in the pregnancy of TGCT patients than of non-TGCT cancer patients, although the pregnancy rate in ICSI was not significantly different.
What is known already
Previous reports showed higher sperm aneuploidy in TGCT patients than control males. The sperm aneuploidy rate is high before treatment, and after radical treatments peaked at 6 months after treatment and remained high until 24 months after treatment. However, in the Swedish government base study, the rate of newborn malformations including aneuploidy in all pregnancy with TGCT patients was higher than without TGCT, but not statistically significant. In only natural pregnancies, the rate was not significantly different between the two groups. The cause for discrepancy within sperm aneuploidy and newborn aneuploidy was not well clarified.
Study design, size, duration
To clarify the mechanism for the purifying selection of aneuploid sperm in conception, we examined ICSI cases with TGCT patients that did not include natural sperm competition and compared to controls with non-TGCT cancer patient, who have normal rate of aneuploid sperm. By investigating ICSI outcomes, we aimed to determine which stage of embryonic development are affected by the sperm of TGCT patients.
Participants/materials, setting, methods
Under ethical review of Yokohama city university, the 10 TGCT patients (123 oocytes) and 16 non-TGCT cancer patients (251 oocytes) who underwent ICSI with their frozen sperm from 2012 to 2021 were enrolled. Fertilization, embryo viability and embryo transfer outcomes (pregnancy and miscarriage rate) were examined between two groups underwent ICSI with cryopreserved sperm for fertility preservation. Clinical information was retrospectively collected from medical records.
Main results and the role of chance
The patients' age of sperm cryopreservation was 21-56 years old. 10 cases of TGCT were diagnosed as seminoma (3), non seminoma (6), and unknown (2). 15 cases of non-TGCT were diagnosed as malignant blood diseases (9), prostate cancer (2), bladder cancer (1), and others (3). In both groups, all patients were treated by ICSI with cryopreserved sperm obtained prior to chemotherapy. The mean age of female partners in TGCT was 33.2±3.5 years and not different with 35.8±3.4 years in non-TGCT meaning no different age factor. The fertilization rate, viable embryo rate, pregnancy rate and chemical abortion rate of TGCT vs non-TGCT group were 76.4% vs 67.7%, 64.3% vs 61.7%, 37.1% vs 21.7%, 7.1% vs 23.1%, respectively. Those developmental evaluations were not significantly different between two groups. However, spontaneous abortion rate was significantly higher 46.2% in TGCT group than 10% in non-TGCT group (p < 0.05). Further, in our follow-up, no congenital malformations in the babies born in either group (5 babies in TGCT vs 7 babies in non-TGCT group). The outcome of ICSI using sperm in TGCT patients show normal pregnancy rate but include higher spontaneous abortions rate, suggesting aneuploid embryo were negatively purifying selected under post-implantation stage.
Limitations, reasons for caution
Because ICSI with fertility-preserving frozen sperm in TGCT patient is rare even in reproduction center in general university hospital, single center analysis is still small and limited. More case reports and studies for TGCT fertility preservation are needed for more accurate evaluation.
Wider implications of the findings
In TGCT patients, chromosome aberrations and DNA fragmentation of sperm may not be apparent in natural pregnancies with normal sperm competition, but may become apparent as spontaneous abortions when ICSI were performed, suggesting PGT-A can predict and avoid the hidden risk of repeated pregnancy loss in ICSI to TGCT patients.

Abstract
UNLABELLED Following severe injury, biomineralization is disrupted and limited therapeutic options exist to correct these pathologic changes. This study utilized a clinically relevant murine model of polytrauma including a severe injury with concomitant musculoskeletal injuries to identify when bisphosphonate administration can prevent the paradoxical decrease of biomineralization in bone and increased biomineralization in soft tissues, yet not interfere with musculoskeletal repair. INTRODUCTION Systemic and intrinsic mechanisms in bone and soft tissues help promote biomineralization to the skeleton, while preventing it in soft tissues. However, severe injury can disrupt this homeostatic biomineralization tropism, leading to adverse patient outcomes due to a paradoxical decrease of biomineralization in bone and increased biomineralization in soft tissues. There remains a need for therapeutics that restore the natural tropism of biomineralization in severely injured patients. Bisphosphonates can elicit potent effects on biomineralization, though with variable impact on musculoskeletal repair. Thus, a critical clinical question remains as to the optimal time to initiate bisphosphonate therapy in patients following a polytrauma, in which bone and muscle are injured in combination with a severe injury, such as a burn. METHODS To test the hypothesis that the dichotomous effects of bisphosphonates are dependent upon the time of administration relative to the ongoing biomineralization in reparative bone and soft tissues, this study utilized murine models of isolated injury or polytrauma with a severe injury, in conjunction with sensitive, longitudinal measure of musculoskeletal repair. RESULTS This study demonstrated that if administered at the time of injury, bisphosphonates prevented severe injury-induced bone loss and soft tissue calcification, but did not interfere with bone repair or remodeling. However, if administered between 7 and 21 days post-injury, bisphosphonates temporally and spatially localized to sites of active biomineralization, leading to impaired fracture callus remodeling and permanence of soft tissue calcification. CONCLUSION There is a specific pharmacologic window following polytrauma that bisphosphonates can prevent the consequences of dysregulated biomineralization, yet not impair musculoskeletal regeneration.

Abstract
Enforced enrichment of the active promoter marks trimethylation of histone H3 lysine 4 (H3K4me3) and acetylation of histone H3 lysine 27 (H3K27ac) by inhibiting histone demethylases and deacetylases is positively associated with hard tissue formation through the induction of osteo/odontogenic differentiation. However, the key endogenous epigenetic modulator of odontoblasts to regulate the expression of genes coding dentin extracellular matrix (ECM) proteins has not been identified. We focused on nuclear factor (NF)-κB inhibitor ζ (IκBζ), which was originally identified as the transcriptional regulator of NF-κB and recently regarded as the NF-κB-independent epigenetic modulator, and found that IκBζ null mice exhibit a thicker dentin width and narrower pulp chamber, with aged mice having more marked phenotypes. At 6 mo of age, dentin fluorescent labeling revealed significantly accelerated dentin synthesis in the incisors of IκBζ null mice. In the molars of IκBζ null mice, marked tertiary dentin formation adjacent to the pulp horn was observed. Mechanistically, the expression of COL1A2 and COL1A1 collagen genes increased more in the odontoblast-rich fraction of IκBζ null mice than in wild type in vivo, similar to human odontoblast-like cells transfected with small interfering RNA for IκBζ compared with cells transfected with control siRNA in vitro. Furthermore, the direct binding of IκBζ to the COL1A2 promoter suppressed COL1A2 expression and the local active chromatin status marked by H3K4me3. Based on whole-genome identification of H3K4me3 enrichment, ECM and ECM organization-related gene loci were selectively activated by the knockdown of IκBζ, which consistently resulted in the upregulation of these genes. Collectively, this study suggested that IκBζ is the key negative regulator of dentin formation in odontoblasts by inhibiting dentin ECM- and ECM organization-related gene expression through an altered local chromatin status marked by H3K4me3. Therefore, IκBζ is a potential target for epigenetically improving the clinical outcomes of dentin regeneration therapies such as pulp capping.

Background
Anthracycline cardiotoxicity is an important prognostic determinant in childhood cancer survivors (CCSs). That has been reported to improve with early therapeutic intervention, and because it is dose-dependent and progressive, early diagnosis and long-term follow-up are important. In adult survivors of cancer, the longitudinal strain (LS) is useful as a sensitive index of cardiac function. In childhood cancer survivors, strain abnormalities are also observed at both short-term and long-term follow-up. Global longitudinal strain (GLS) abnormalities are common during or early after chemotherapy, whereas changes in global circumferential strain (GCS) are more significant and consistent on long-term follow-up.
Purpose
In this study, we aimed to conduct a cross-sectional study using strain analysis in childhood cancer survivors of a wide age range to clarify the mode of progression of anthracycline-induced cardiotoxicity and to identify useful indicators for long-term follow-up.
Methods
In total, 116 patients (median age: 15.5 [range: 4.7-40.2] years) with childhood cancer who had passed at least 1 year after chemotherapy with anthracycline, and 116 control patients of similar age. Strain measurements were assessed for longitudinal strain (LS) and circumferential strain at the apical, papillary and basal levels using speckle tracking imaging. Estimated value at 5, 15, 25 and 35 years old were mathematically calculated.
Results
Results were shown in tables and figures. Most of conventional echocardiographic parameters were not significantly different between CCCs and controls. LS, papillary CS and basal CS in CCCs decreased compared to normal controls at all age. The difference of estimated value between CCCs and normal controls in LS at all age were relatively constant. However, those in basal CS tended to increase with aging. Furthermore, basal CS in CCCs decreased with aging (r = 0.212, p < 0.001) and the duration after completion of anthracycline treatment (r = -0.244, p < 0.008).
Conclusions
In childhood cancer survivors, strain analysis is a more sensitive indicators of cardiac function than conventional parameters. In addition, basal CS may decrease most markedly over time and could be useful indicator in long-term follow-up. Longitudinal studies should be conducted in the future to improve the accuracy of predicting anthracycline cardiotoxicity. Abstract
BACKGROUND Congenital myasthenic syndrome (CMS) is a clinically and genetically heterogeneous neuromuscular disorder characterized by muscle weakness and caused by mutations in more than 35 different genes. This condition should not be overlooked as a subset of patients with CMS are treatable. However, the diagnosis of CMS is often difficult due to the broad variability in disease severity and course. CASE REPORT A five-year-old boy without remarkable family history was born with marked general muscle hypotonia and weakness, respiratory insufficiency, anomalies, and multiple joint contractures. Congenital myopathy was suspected based upon type 1 fiber predominance on muscle biopsy. However, he was diagnosed with CMS at age 4 years when his ptosis and ophthalmoplegia were found to be improved by edrophonium chloride and repetitive nerve stimulation showed attenuation of compound muscle action potentials. An exome sequencing identified a compound heterozygous missense variant of c.737C > T (p.A246V) and a novel intronic insertion c.1166 + 4_1166 + 5insAAGCCCACCAC in RAPSN. RT-PCR analysis which showed the skipping of exon 7 in a skeletal muscle sample confirmed that the intronic insertion was pathogenic. His myasthenic symptoms were remarkably improved by pyridostigmine. CONCLUSION The patient's diagnosis of CMS was confirmed by exome sequencing, and RT-PCR revealed that the skipping of exon 7 in RAPSN was caused by a novel intronic insertion. The genetic information uncovered in this case should therefore be added to the collection of tools for diagnosing and treating CMS.

Abstract
A search for lepton-flavor-violating Z→eτ and Z→μτ decays with pp collision data recorded by the ATLAS detector at the LHC is presented. This analysis uses 139 fb^{-1} of Run 2 pp collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV and is combined with the results of a similar ATLAS search in the final state in which the τ lepton decays hadronically, using the same data set as well as Run 1 data. The addition of leptonically decaying τ leptons significantly improves the sensitivity reach for Z→ℓτ decays. The Z→ℓτ branching fractions are constrained in this analysis to B(Z→eτ)<7.0×10^{-6} and B(Z→μτ)<7.2×10^{-6} at 95% confidence level. The combination with the previously published analyses sets the strongest constraints to date: B(Z→eτ)<5.0×10^{-6} and B(Z→μτ)<6.5×10^{-6} at 95% confidence level.

Background
In Japan, ivabradine is indicated in patients with heart failure (HF) with sinus rhythm and a resting heart rate (HR) ≥75/min under standard treatment. Particularly, it is effective for HF with reduced left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF). However, elderly people have a higher incidence of atrial fibrillation than young people, and their sinus node function is further deteriorated, resulting in a lower intrinsic HR. In addition, Japan is an ultra-aging society, especially in the countryside; therefore, the target patients for ivabradine may be limited in these regions.
Purpose
We sought to estimate the possible candidates for ivabradine and investigate their clinical characteristics in our hospital located in rural Japan.
Method and results
We retrospectively studied 14733 consecutive patients who were suspected heart disease who underwent echocardiography between January 2006 and October 2018 in Kitaishikai Hospital located in Ozu city (Proportion of the population aged ≥65 years: 34%, in 2015) and did not take ivabradine treatment. Of these, 187 patients with hemodynamically stable condition whose E/A ratio was measured and met the criteria of LVEF <40% and HR ≥75 /min were confirmed. Of these, 153 patients reached HR <75 /min with additional intensive medication within one year after the index echocardiography (Controlled group; mean HR: 82 to 62/min). The remaining 34 patients with uncontrolled HR (Uncontrolled group; mean HR: 84 to 82/min) were considered possible candidates for ivabradine (34/14733: 0.23%, 2.6 patients per year; median age, 74 years; male, 56%; median LVEF, 32%; ischemic cardiomyopathy, 53%). In the comparison of clinical and echocardiographic parameters in these two groups, Uncontrolled group had a significantly smaller left ventricular diastolic volume index (71 [59–85] vs 82 [66–109] /ml/m2, p=0.02), left ventricular systolic volume index (50 [39–59] vs 59 [42–80] / ml/m2, p=0.04), stroke volume index (22 [18–26] vs 26 [20–32] /ml/m2, p=0.02), left atrial volume index (47 [40–64] vs 59 [45–71] /ml/m2, p=0.02), and more hemodialysis (12 vs 3%, p=0.04) than Controlled group. However, the discrimination ability of these parameters for identifying Uncontrolled group was modest (Figure).
Conclusion
In rural Japan, possible candidates for ivabradine may be rare, so daily attention should be paid. Patients with reduced ejection fraction, small left ventricle, and hemodialysis may be the possible targets for this therapy.

Background
The transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM), a common condition in the elderly, is a life-threatening disease; however, it is treatable. The early accurate diagnosis is, therefore, an important key to improve the patient's outcomes. Electrocardiography and echocardiography are instant diagnostic tools with red flags for the screening of the ATTR-CM. In fact, ATTR-CM often mimics left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH), and the differential diagnosis is difficult to establish. Thus, the characteristics of cardiac amyloidosis may be obscured in ATTR-CM patients with mild LVH, possibly making the disease difficult to diagnose. Therefore, in this study, the effect of LVH on the occurrence of electrocardiographic and echocardiographic parameters for ATTR-CM was investigated, and their incremental value over the age for the screening of ATTR-CM in the patients with mild LVH was recorded.
Methods
This study retrospectively studied 319 consecutive nonischemic LVH patients with a sinus rhythm who underwent detailed diagnostic tests. The light chain-associated amyloidosis was an exclusion criterion. The mean left ventricular wall thickness (MWT) <12 mm was defined as mild LVH, while MWT ≥12 mm was defined as moderate to severe LVH. The ATTR-CM was diagnosed with biopsy or 99 mTc-PYP scintigraphy. The elderly were defined as people aged ≥65 years in males and ≥70 years in females, according to the literature. Each electrocardiographic and echocardiographic parameter was binarized with an external cut-off point to increase the external validity, being the incremental benefit of each parameter over age for identifying ATTR-CM assessed using a receiver operating characteristic curve analysis and comparisons of the area under the curve (AUC).
Results
Fourteen patients (8%) among the 170 patients with mild LVH had ATTR-CM, while 27 patients (18%) among the 149 patients with moderate to severe LVH had ATTR-CM. The patients with mild LVH had fewer electrocardiographic and echocardiographic parameters, showing a significant difference between ATTR-CM and non-ATTR-CM patients than those with moderate to severe LVH (Table 1). Among several binarized parameters, the voltage-to-mass ratio, E/A ratio, the global longitudinal strain, and also the relative apical sparing pattern demonstrated additive value for identifying the ATTR-CM over aging (Table 2). In addition, the discriminative ability of the propensity score calculated from these four variables and age was considered excellent for the screening of ATTR-CM (AUC = 0.98).
Conclusion
The patients with mild LVH appear to have fewer electrocardiographic and echocardiographic specific findings of the ATTR-CM compared to patients with moderate to severe LVH. However, several red flags may be useful for screening ATTR-CM even in patients with a mild LVH.

Objective
To investigate a mechanistic determinant of left atrial (LA) reservoir function in patients presenting left ventricular (LV) hypertrophy, and clarify diagnostic and prognostic values of LA reservoir strain in patients with cardiac amyloidosis (CA).
Methods
Three-hundred sixty patients (median age: 68 years, male gender: 65%) with left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) assessed by echocardiography were retrospectively included. The LVH etiologies were diagnosed by any of biopsy, cardiac magnetic resonance imaging or 99mTc-PYP scintigraphy. LV segmental longitudinal strain was estimated from apical three views, and LA reservoir strain was measured from an apical 4-chamber view.
Results
The LVH etiologies were confirmed with CA in 81 patients, hypertensive heart disease in 87 patients, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy in 143 patients, and miscellaneous disorders in 49 patients. The median (25th, 75th percentile) value of LV ejection fraction was 59% (48–67). LV basal longitudinal strain and LA reservoir strain were significantly reduced in patients with CA compared with those with other etiologies; LV basal strain: 5.4% (3.9–8.7) vs. 11.9% (9.3–14.6), LA reservoir strain: 9.2% (6.3–12.3) vs. 17.5% (11.3–24.1), p<0.01 respectively. LV basal strain was significantly correlated with LA reservoir strain in patients with CA (r=0.57, p<0.01) and in those with other etiologies (r=0.45, p<0.01). The area under the receiver-operating characteristic curves of LA reservoir strain and E/e' (0.78 and 0.74) to identify CA etiology were significantly larger than that of LA volume index (0.62) (p<0.01). During the follow-up period (median 2.9 years), 53 patients experienced heart failure hospitalization. The Cox regression model including age, gender, LV ejection fraction, E/e' and LA reservoir strain showed that male gender (hazard ratio: 0.46, p=0.03), E/e' (hazard ratio: 1.04, p<0.01) and LA reservoir strain (hazard ratio: 0.94, p<0.01) independently predicted heart failure hospitalization.
Conclusions
The decrease of LV longitudinal shortening at cardiac base could worsen LA reservoir function especially in patients with CA. LA reservoir strain might be an alternative measure to identify CA etiology and have a predictive value of heart failure hospitalization in patients with LV hypertrophy.
