A comparative study on the effect of limestone particle size on performance, ileal digestibility of calcium and phosphorus, and bone characteristics in broilers and pullets. Abstract
1. The effects of limestone particle size on growth performance, gastrointestinal tract (GIT) traits, ileal morphology, duodenal gene expression of calbindin, apparent ileal digestibility coefficients (AIDC) of calcium (Ca) and phosphorus (P) and tibia characteristics in broilers and pullets were assessed in broilers and pullets. These birds have different growth rates and likely different responses to parameters, such as particle size.2. A total of 240 chicks aged one day, 120 Ross 308 female broilers, and 120 Hy-Line pullets were allocated randomly into four treatments in a 2 × 2 factorial arrangement with two bird types (broilers vs. pullets) and two limestone particle sizes (<0.5 mm versus 1-2 mm) to give six replicates containing 10 chicks in each from 1 to 21 d of age.3. Feed intake and weight gain were greater (P < 0.001) and feed per gain (FCR) was better (P < 0.001) in broilers compared to pullets from 1 to 21 d of age. Greater villus width (P < 0.01), villus height (P < 0.001) and crypt depth (P < 0.01) were seen for broilers compared to pullets.4. Pullets fed coarse Ca particles had higher calbindin gene expression at 21 d of age (P = 0.05). Both AIDC of Ca and P were higher (P < 0.001) in broilers compared to pullets. The AIDC of Ca from 0.463 to 0.516 was increased (P < 0.05) by feeding coarse limestone particles. A significant interaction was found between bird type and limestone particle size (P < 0.01), where pullets fed coarse Ca particles had higher bone P concentration in tibia than broilers.5. Broilers had better ileum absorptive capacity and growth performance compared to pullets. The AIDC of Ca and P was higher in broilers than in pullets. Increased limestone particle size elevated villus height, AIDC of Ca and concentration of P in the tibia.

Abstract
Aims Balance requires the cortical control of visual, somatosensory, and vestibular inputs. The aim of this cross-sectional study was to compare the contributions of each of these systems on postural control and cortical activity using a sensory reweighting approach between participants with Parkinson's disease (PD) and controls. Methods Ten participants with PD (age: 72 ± 9; 3 women; Hoehn & Yahr: 2 [1.5 - 2.50]) and 11 controls (age: 70 ± 3; 4 women) completed a sensory organization test in virtual reality (VR-SOT) while cortical activity was being recorded using electroencephalography (EEG). Conditions 1 to 3 were completed on a stable platform; conditions 4 to 6 on a foam. Conditions 1 and 4 were done with eyes open; conditions 2 and 5 in a darkened VR environment; and conditions 3 and 6 in a moving VR environment. Linear mixed models were used to evaluate changes in center of pressure (COP) displacement and EEG alpha and theta/beta ratio power between the two groups across the postural control conditions. Condition 1 was used as reference in all analyses. Results Participants with PD showed greater COP displacement than controls in the anteroposterior (AP) direction when relying on vestibular input (condition 5; p<0.0001). The mediolateral (ML) COP sway was greater in PD than in controls when relying on the somatosensory (condition 2; p = 0.03), visual (condition 4; p = 0.002), and vestibular (condition 5; p < 0.0001) systems. Participants with PD exhibited greater alpha power compared to controls when relying on visual input (condition 2; p = 0.003) and greater theta/beta ratio power when relying on somatosensory input (condition 4; p = 0.001). Conclusions PD affects reweighting of postural control, exemplified by greater COP displacement and increased cortical activity. Further research is needed to establish the temporal dynamics between cortical activity and COP displacement.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The healthcare system in Iran appears to overlook Mediterranean spotted fever (MSF) as an endemic disease, particularly in pediatric cases, indicating the need for greater attention and awareness. CASE PRESENTATION A six-year-old patient with fever, abdominal pain, headache, skin rashes, diarrhea, vomiting, and black eschar (tache noire) from southeast Iran was identified as a rickettsiosis caused by Rickettsia conorii subsp. israelensis through clinical and laboratory assessments, including IFA and real-time PCR. The patient was successfully treated with doxycycline. CONCLUSIONS Symptoms like rash, edema, eschar, and abdominal pain may indicate the possibility of MSF during the assessment of acute febrile illness, IFA and real-time PCR are the primary diagnostic methods for this disease.

Abstract
Honey bee venom is a valuable product with a wide range of biological effects, whose use is rapidly increasing in apitherapy. In this study, the effect of gamma-irradiated honey bee venom (doses of 0, 2, 4, 6, and 8 kGy, volume of 0.1 ml, and concentration of 0.2 mg/ml) was evaluated on median lethal dose (LD50) determinations, liver and kidney histology, biochemical marker level, and serum protein analyses. Hence, the LD50 induced by the honey bee venom irradiated at 4, 6, and 8 kGy was increased, compared with the one at 0 and 2 kGy. Normal histology was observed in the liver and kidney of the mice receiving the honey bee venom irradiated at 4, 6, and 8 kGy. The serum levels of alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and all serum proteins were reduced at 4, 6, and 8 kGy compared with 0 and 2 kGy. Therefore, gamma irradiation at 4, 6, and 8 kGy had no negative effect on LD50, liver and kidney tissues, ALT, and serum protein levels by decreasing the allergen compounds of the honey bee venom.

Abstract
To accurately explore the anatomical organization of neural circuits in the brain, it is crucial to map the experimental brain data onto a standardized system of coordinates. Studying 2D histological mouse brain slices remains the standard procedure in many laboratories. Mapping these 2D brain slices is challenging; due to deformations, artifacts, and tilted angles introduced during the standard preparation and slicing process. In addition, analysis of experimental mouse brain slices can be highly dependent on the level of expertise of the human operator. Here we propose a computational tool for Accurate Mouse Brain Image Analysis (AMBIA), to map 2D mouse brain slices on the 3D brain model with minimal human intervention. AMBIA has a modular design that comprises a localization module and a registration module. The localization module is a deep learning-based pipeline that localizes a single 2D slice in the 3D Allen Brain Atlas and generates a corresponding atlas plane. The registration module is built upon the Ardent python package that performs deformable 2D registration between the brain slice to its corresponding atlas. By comparing AMBIA's performance in localization and registration to human ratings, we demonstrate that it performs at a human expert level. AMBIA provides an intuitive and highly efficient way for accurate registration of experimental 2D mouse brain images to 3D digital mouse brain atlas. Our tool provides a graphical user interface and it is designed to be used by researchers with minimal programming knowledge.

Abstract
Within this paper, we demonstrate the feasibility of the FPGA implementation as well as the 180nm CMOS circuit design of a particular biologically plausible supervised learning algorithm (ReSuMe). Based on the Spike-Timing-Dependent Plasticity (STDP) learning phenomenon, this design proposes a fully configurable implementation of STDP learning window function to adjust the learning process for different applications, optimizing results for each use case. The CMOS implementation in 180nm technology node supplied with 1.8V shows a core area of 0.78mm2 and verifies the suitability of an on-chip ReSuMe learning algorithm implementation and its capability of integration with a multitude of external and already designed structures of Spiking Neural Networks (SNNs).

Abstract
PURPOSE Partial volume effect (PVE) is a consequence of the limited spatial resolution of PET scanners. PVE can cause the intensity values of a particular voxel to be underestimated or overestimated due to the effect of surrounding tracer uptake. We propose a novel partial volume correction (PVC) technique to overcome the adverse effects of PVE on PET images. METHODS Two hundred and twelve clinical brain PET scans, including 50 18F-Fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG), 50 18F-Flortaucipir, 36 18F-Flutemetamol, and 76 18F-FluoroDOPA, and their corresponding T1-weighted MR images were enrolled in this study. The Iterative Yang technique was used for PVC as a reference or surrogate of the ground truth for evaluation. A cycle-consistent adversarial network (CycleGAN) was trained to directly map non-PVC PET images to PVC PET images. Quantitative analysis using various metrics, including structural similarity index (SSIM), root mean squared error (RMSE), and peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR), was performed. Furthermore, voxel-wise and region-wise-based correlations of activity concentration between the predicted and reference images were evaluated through joint histogram and Bland and Altman analysis. In addition, radiomic analysis was performed by calculating 20 radiomic features within 83 brain regions. Finally, a voxel-wise two-sample t-test was used to compare the predicted PVC PET images with reference PVC images for each radiotracer. RESULTS The Bland and Altman analysis showed the largest and smallest variance for 18F-FDG (95% CI: - 0.29, + 0.33 SUV, mean = 0.02 SUV) and 18F-Flutemetamol (95% CI: - 0.26, + 0.24 SUV, mean = - 0.01 SUV), respectively. The PSNR was lowest (29.64 ± 1.13 dB) for 18F-FDG and highest (36.01 ± 3.26 dB) for 18F-Flutemetamol. The smallest and largest SSIM were achieved for 18F-FDG (0.93 ± 0.01) and 18F-Flutemetamol (0.97 ± 0.01), respectively. The average relative error for the kurtosis radiomic feature was 3.32%, 9.39%, 4.17%, and 4.55%, while it was 4.74%, 8.80%, 7.27%, and 6.81% for NGLDM_contrast feature for 18F-Flutemetamol, 18F-FluoroDOPA, 18F-FDG, and 18F-Flortaucipir, respectively. CONCLUSION An end-to-end CycleGAN PVC method was developed and evaluated. Our model generates PVC images from the original non-PVC PET images without requiring additional anatomical information, such as MRI or CT. Our model eliminates the need for accurate registration or segmentation or PET scanner system response characterization. In addition, no assumptions regarding anatomical structure size, homogeneity, boundary, or background level are required.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Global access to sexual and reproductive health is an essential human right, especially to adolescent girls. For improvement sexual and reproductive self-care needs to determine the related factors on utilization and acceptance by adolescents. Therefore, the aim of this study was to examine the SRH self-care and its predictors among adolescent girls in Neyshabur city at Northeast of Iran. METHODS The present study was a cross-sectional correlational study performed on 265 girl students from 15 girls' high schools in Neyshabour, in Razavi Khorasan province, Northeastern Iran. The sampling method was multistage probability sampling. Data were collected using demographic information and female adolescents' sexual reproductive self-care scale. Data were analyzed using descriptive, frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple linear regression model. The significant level was p<0.05 using SPSS16. RESULTS The results of the present study showed that the mean score of the sexual reproductive health self-care was 61.23 of 100 ± 10.5, it had a significantly relationship with fathers education high school [B=-7.241 CI: (-11.088 to -3.393)], diploma [B=-7.221 CI: -10.707 to -3.735] than academic. The rank of children birth in the family first [B=6.012 CI: (0.931-11.092)] second [B=4.436 CI: (1.437-8.309)] than third and above. Economic status of household Excellent [B=3.159 CI: (2.193-8.511)], Favorable [B=5.866 CI: (1.355-10.378)], relatively favorable [B=2.705 CI: (1.802-7.213)] than poor level economic. CONCLUSIONS sexual and reproductive health is associated to father's education, the rank of children birth in the family, and economic status. So these variables will help to strategies and progress educational programs.

Abstract
In this project, drug release was examined based on the adsorption of cisplatin, carboplatin, oxaliplatin, and oxalipalladium on aminated mesoporous silica nanoparticles (N-HMSNs) and human serum albumin (HSA). These compounds were characterized by different techniques where three clinical Pt-drugs, cisplatin, carboplatin, oxaliplatin, plus oxalipalladium were loaded and investigated for release. Based on loading analysis, the loading ability of the mentioned metallodrug on N-HMSNs was dependent on the nature of the drug structure as well as hydrophobic or hydrophilic interactions. Different adsorption and release profiles were observed for all mentioned compounds via dialysis and ICP method analysis. Although the maximum to minimum loading occurred for oxalipalladium, cisplatin, and oxaliplatin to carboplatin, respectively, release from a surface with greater control belonged to carboplatin to cisplatin systems in the absence and presence of HSA to 48 hours due to weak interaction for carboplatin drug. The quick release of all mentioned compounds from the protein level at high doses of the drug during chemotherapy occurred very fast within the first 6 hours. In addition, the cytotoxic activity of both free drugs and drug-loaded@N-HMSNs samples on cancerous MCF-7, HCT116, A549, and normal HFF cell lines was evaluated by MTT assay. It was found that free metallodrugs exhibited more active cytotoxic behavior on both cancerous and normal cell lines than drug-loaded@N-HMSNs. Data demonstrated that the Cisplatin@N-HMSNs with SI=6.0 and 6.6 for MCF7 and HCT116 cell lines, respectively, and Oxaliplatin@N-HMSNs with SI=7.4 for HCT116 cell line can be good candidates as an anticancer drug with minimal side effects by protecting cytotoxic drugs as well as controlled release and high selectivity.

Abstract
In this study, the effect of gamma-irradiated honey bee venom (doses of 0, 2, 4, 6, and 8 kGy, volume of 0.1 ml and concentration of 0.2 mg/ml) was evaluated on the reduction of allergen compounds and the gene expression of inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines in mice. Hence, edema activity induced by the bee venom irradiated at 4, 6, and 8 kGy was reduced, compared with the control group and that irradiated at 2 kGy. In contrast, the paw edema induced by the bee venom irradiated at 8 kGy increased, compared with 4 and 6 kGy. At all the time periods, there was a significant decrease in the gene expression of interferon gamma (IFN-γ), interleukin 6 (IL-6), and interleukin 10 (IL-10) in the bee venoms irradiated at 4, 6, and 8 kGy, compared with the control group and that irradiated at 2 kGy. In contrast, there was an increase in the gene expression of IFN-γ and IL-6 in the bee venom irradiated at 8 kGy, compared with those irradiated at 4 and 6 kGy. Therefore, gamma irradiation at 4 and 6 kGy reduced the gene expression of cytokines at each time period by decreasing the allergen compounds of honey bee venom.

Abstract
AIMS The European Society of Cardiology (ESC) EURObservational Research Programme (EORP) Non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) Registry aims to identify international patterns in NSTEMI management in clinical practice and outcomes against the 2015 ESC Guidelines for the management of acute coronary syndromes in patients presenting without ST-segment-elevation. METHODS AND RESULTS Consecutively hospitalised adult NSTEMI patients (n = 3620) were enrolled between 11 March 2019 and 6 March 2021, and individual patient data prospectively collected at 287 centres in 59 participating countries during a two-week enrolment period per centre. The registry collected data relating to baseline characteristics, major outcomes (in-hospital death, acute heart failure, cardiogenic shock, bleeding, stroke/transient ischaemic attack, and 30-day mortality) and guideline-recommended NSTEMI care interventions: electrocardiogram pre- or in-hospital, pre-hospitalization receipt of aspirin, echocardiography, coronary angiography, referral to cardiac rehabilitation, smoking cessation advice, dietary advice, and prescription on discharge of aspirin, P2Y12 inhibition, angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor (ACEi)/angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB), beta-blocker, and statin. CONCLUSION The EORP NSTEMI Registry is an international, prospective registry of care and outcomes of patients treated for NSTEMI, which will provide unique insights into the contemporary management of hospitalised NSTEMI patients, compliance with ESC 2015 NSTEMI Guidelines, and identify potential barriers to optimal management of this common clinical presentation associated with significant morbidity and mortality.

Abstract
Toxoplasmosis has been categorized as one of the long-lasting protozoan parasitic infections. It affects almost one-third of the world's population. In recent years, several documented studies have elucidated that infected individuals have a remarkably higher incidence of distinct health problems and show various adverse effects. In the PCR-positive COVID-19 patients in Gonbad-e-Kavus, Kalaleh, and Minoodasht counties in the northern part of Iran from June 2021 to December 2021, we sought to investigate any potential relationships between the severity of COVID-19 symptoms and acute and latent toxoplasmosis caused by Toxoplasma gondii (T. gondii). Whole blood samples of 161 COVID-19 patients with positive PCR. The samples were centrifuged to separate serum and screened for two important antibodies against T. gondii (IgM and IgG) by using ELISA kits for human anti-T. gondii IgM and IgG. Anti-T. gondii IgM and IgG antibodies were detected in 8/161 (5.0%) and 42/161 (26.1%) COVID-19 patients, respectively. No significant relationships were found between Toxoplasma IgM and IgG results with clinical signs, age, sex, contact with animals, comorbidities, and also the mortality rate of people with COVID-19. These findings showed that acute and latent toxoplasmosis infections are common among patients with COVID-19; however, no significant associations were found between toxoplasma infections and the symptoms of COVID-19. Therefore, toxoplasmosis is not considered a risk factor for COVID-19.

Abstract
Phytochromes are biological red/far-red light sensors found in many organisms. The connection between photoconversion and the cellular output signal involves light-mediated global structural changes in the interaction between the photosensory module (PAS-GAF-PHY, PGP) and the C-terminal transmitter (output) module. We recently showed a direct correlation of chromophore deprotonation with pH-dependent conformational changes in the various domains of the prototypical phytochrome Cph1 PGP. These results suggested that the transient phycocyanobilin (PCB) chromophore deprotonation is closely associated with a higher protein mobility both in proximal and distal protein sites, implying a causal relationship that might be important for the global large-scale protein rearrangements. Here, we investigate the prototypical biliverdin (BV)-binding phytochrome Agp1. The structural changes at various positions in Agp1 PGP were investigated as a function of pH using picosecond time-resolved fluorescence anisotropy and site-directed fluorescence labeling of cysteine variants of Agp1 PGP. We show that the direct correlation of chromophore deprotonation with pH-dependent conformational changes does not occur in Agp1. Together with the absence of long-range effects between the PHY domain and chromophore pKa, in contrast to the findings in Cph1, our results imply phytochrome species-specific correlations between transient chromophore deprotonation and intramolecular signal transduction.

Abstract
Computed tomography (CT) is widely used as the imaging modality for the treatment of tumors in Microwave Ablation (MWA) therapy. In order to accurately perform ablation of liver tumors and prevent tumor recurrence it is necessary to segment both the living tumor and the ablated tissue on the CT images. The U-Net model has outperformed other methods in biomedical image segmentation. However, because of the low contrast between tumor and liver tissue texture, the traditional U-net network cannot perform an accurate segmentation of the CT images of liver during MWA therapy. The aim of this study is to improve the U-net model network to achieve a higher segmentation performance on the CT images of liver tumor inMWA therapy. To achieve this, residual block is added in the first steps of up-sampling to deepen the network depth and enhance the segmentation result. We compare the proposed method named as ‘ResLU-Net’ with a conventional U-Net model. The results show that the ResLU-Net method has a good performance in tumor segmentation with a structure similarity index (SSIM) value of 0.97. This new method can help physicians in the MWA therapy process.

What is the suitable method for isolating extracellular vesicles (EVs) from a small volume of Uterine Fluid Lavage (UFL)?
Summary answer
It seems that the qEV column can help in faster, precise, and gentle isolation of EVs from small amounts of UFL.
What is known already
Several studies have discovered that existing EVs in the UFL, which are informative carriers, reflect cytological and molecular conditions of the uterine environment. The relative amounts of the EV components are different in various physiological situations. So, they are the ideal source for precise molecular analysis of the uterine condition to identify the Window of Implantation (WOI) for appropriate embryo transfer (ET) timing. There is limited information describing the most efficient method for EV isolation from a low-volume sample of biological fluids. In particular, EV separation from some biological fluids such as UFL is more complicated because of the viscosity.
Study design, size, duration
The study was conducted in two steps; first, the pre-implantation UFL sampling effect was studied on the implantation and clinical pregnancy rates. UFLs were obtained from 20 IVF Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET) patients as the case group. The control group consisted of 20 FET patients without lavage. In the second step, UFLs (n = 30) were collected and pooled. The EVs were extracted by ultracentrifugation (UC), Sucrose cushion (Suc), and Size-exclusion chromatography (by the qEV column) methods.
Participants/materials, setting, methods
First, UFL was collected two days before frozen blastocyst ET from the case group using an intrauterine insemination catheter attached to a syringe. Then, patients were compared with control at the seventh week. Second, EVs were extracted from pooled UFL samples and characterized by Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), and Western Blot (WB). Albumin contamination was detected by SDS-PAGE. Total RNA was extracted, and Real-time PCR was performed for six housekeeping genes.
Main results and the role of chance
A comparison between case and control groups indicated no significant difference for implantation and clinical pregnancy rates. Moreover, we have confirmed the presence of EVs in UFL that were successfully isolated, by the UC, Suc, the qEV methods. The SEM images showed that the collected vesicles were morphologically spherical. The DLS analysis revealed that the intensity peak of isolated particles with the UC and Suc methods were 281 nm and 216 nm, respectively. Extracted EVs using the qEV technique were smaller and homogenized in size, with an intensity peak of 67.7 nm. SDS-PAGE of EVs showed a weaker albumin band in the qEV column (with a 100 kDa filter) method than the UC, Suc, and qEV column (with a 30 kDa filter) methods. Although, their quantification showed no significant differences. WB analysis indicated common EV markers (D81, CD9, CD63, and TSG101) showed better expression using the qEV extraction technique. But CD9 and TSG101 had lower expression levels in EVs isolated using Suc and UC, respectively. Calnexin was not detected in the isolated EVs. The GAPDH, 18SrRNA, ACTIN, GUSB, HMBS, and YWHAZ genes were detected by real-time PCR in all three EV extraction methods. The 18SrRNA gene showed better CT values.
Limitations, reasons for caution
Uterine fluid samples collection from qualified study groups and the patient’s follow-up for ensuring successful implantation and clinical pregnancy are time-consuming. The low volume of uterine fluid lavage sample and consequently the low number of extracellular vesicles inside it was also the limitation of this study.
Wider implications of the findings
Endometrial receptivity assay is difficult to study non-invasively. Herein, endometrial secretome EVs as a minimally invasive source for uterine environment molecular assessment is presented. High-throughput analysis of EV components can offer biomarkers for individual determination of ET timing, providing an additional method to use with transvaginal-ultrasonography for assessing endometrial receptivity.

Abstract
Background: Since women spend about one-third of their lifespan in menopause, accurate prediction of the age of natural menopause and its effective parameters are crucial to increase women’s life expectancy.
Objective: This study aimed to compare the performance of generalized linear models (GLM) and the ordinary least squares (OLS) method in predicting the age of natural menopause in a large population of Iranian women.
Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted using data from the recruitment phase of the Shahedieh Cohort Study, Yazd, Iran. In total, 1251 women who had the experience of natural menopause were included. For modeling natural menopause, the multiple linear regression model was employed using the ordinary least squares method and GLMs. With the help of the Akaike information criterion, rootmean- square error (RMSE), and mean absolute error, the performance of regression models was measured.
Results: The mean age of menopausal women was 49.1 ± 4.7 yr (95% CI: 48.8-49.3) with a median of 50 yr. The analysis showed similar Akaike criterion values for the multiple linear models with the OLS technique and the GLM with the Gaussian family. However, the RMSE and mean absolute error values were much lower in GLM. In all the models, education, history of salpingectomy, diabetes, cardiac ischemic, and depression were significantly associated with menopausal age.
Conclusion: To predict the age of natural menopause in this study, the GLM with the Gaussian family and the log link function with reduced RMSE and mean absolute error can be a good alternative for modeling menopausal age.

Abstract
BackgroundMovement of the spine is restricted in axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) [1]. Spine function is usually assessed by the Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Metrology Index (BASMI), which is based on a limited set of defined motions that are measured semiquantitatively in the spatial dimension but not in the temporal dimension. Sensor-based measurement of spine function in axSpA patients is in its infancy but may provide a deeper and more detailed understanding of the impact of axSpA on the impairment of spine function [2,3]. In theory, unbiased full body assessment of spine motion may open a new dimension in function analysis in axSpA.ObjectivesTo test if a of a full-body based haptic capturing of spine motion is technically feasible and can pick up the measurements of BASMI items 1-5. Furthermore, we aimed to investigate whether such measurements are accurate and reproducible comparing to BASMI scores done by rheumatologists. Lastly, we sought to measure velocity of spine movements to allow spatiotemporal analysis of motion.MethodsFor full-body haptic assessment of spine motion a full-body haptic suit (Teslasuit; VR Electronics Ltd, London) was used that consists of a smart textile two-piece bodysuit that not only captures range and speed of motion but also provides biometric and haptic feedback. This device is currently tested in clinical trials (https://teslasuit.io/rehabilitation/) but has not been tested in rheumatic diseases such as axSpA [4]. Since there is no pre-defined technical solution for measuring BASMI, we used the integrated inertial measurement units (IMUs) of the suit (Figure 1a). The suit is recording the position and rotations of its IMUs and is transforming the raw data to position coordinates and joint angle of the bones. We implemented an algorithm that is accessing the sensor data and is calculating the BASMI measurements as well as velocity. Assessment were done in healthy individuals. BASMI was obtained 3 times by teslasuit followed by standard BASMI measurement by 2 independent rheumatologists. In addition, rotational movements with their maximum torso speed to evaluate angular velocity were performed (Figure 1b). Measurements were compared using absolute values and relative standard deviation (which is the standard deviation normalized by the mean).ResultsFive healthy individuals (all males, age: 27.6 ± 1.8 years, height: 178 ± 5 cm; weight 70.0 ± 8.0 kg) were assessed. Teslasuit measurements were well tolerated. Technically, we were able to calculate BASMI item 3 and 5, finger-to-floor distance and the velocity of the spine movement using the position data of hand, talus and upper back sensors (Figure 1a, b). Due to absence of sensors at the head and the required back areas, BASMI 1, 2, 4 could only partially be captured and require further programming, which is currently performed. Only marginal differences were detected regarding the relative standard deviations of measurements between teslasuit and rheumatologists (BASMI 3: rheumatologists 8,5%: suit 10%; BASMI 5: rheumatologists 5,4%: suit 4,9%) (Figure 1c). The speed of spinal motion could be measured with an average angular velocity of 172.2 degrees/sec over the entire rotation motion and an average maximum angular velocity of 417.2 degrees/sec.ConclusionThis study shows that full-body haptic-suits can capture spinal motion including parts of the BASMI score. In addition, they allow to measure the speed of spinal movement, which might be an important and so far unrecognized factor to test the impact of axSpA on spinal function. Based on these results, full-body haptic-suits will be tested in axSpA patients in the future. Furthermore, technical solutions are currently developed to implement the remaining BASMI scores into the suit as well as connections from the suit to virtual reality devices for patients and doctors.References[1]Sieper, J. and D. Abstract
Adaptive behavior critically depends on the detection of behaviorally relevant stimuli. The anterior insular cortex (aIC) has long been proposed as a key player in the representation and integration of sensory stimuli, and implicated in a wide variety of cognitive and emotional functions. However, to date, little is known about the contribution of aIC interneurons to sensory processing. By using a combination of whole-brain connectivity tracing, imaging of neural calcium dynamics, and optogenetic modulation in freely moving mice across different experimental paradigms, such as fear conditioning and social preference, we describe here a role for aIC vasoactive intestinal polypeptide-expressing (VIP+) interneurons in mediating adaptive behaviors. Our findings enlighten the contribution of aIC VIP+ interneurons to sensory processing, showing that they are anatomically connected to a wide range of sensory-related brain areas and critically respond to behaviorally relevant stimuli independent of task and modality.

Abstract
The goal of using radiopharmaceuticals for therapeutic purposes is twofold: first, the most damage to cancer cells and, second, the most negligible dose transfers to healthy tissues. As 177Lu has the potential to cure a wide range of malignancies due to its varied range of beta energies, 177Lu-BBN-GABA-DOTA has been developed for therapeutic applications. In addition, 177Lu-BBN-GABA-DOTA can be over-expressed on gastrin-releasing peptide (GRP) receptors of the prostate, breast, small cell lung cancer, gastric, and colon tumors. The purpose of this study was to calculate the amount of dose absorption in human body organs using medical internal radiation dose (MIRD) and GATE code methods, after animal injection. In this study, the amount of absorbed dose in different organs (spleen, kidney, Lung, Pancreas, Heart, Adrenal, Intestine, Stomach, and Liver) were calculated for 1-MBq accumulation of 177Lu-BBN-GABA-DOTA in source organs (spleen, kidney, Lung, Pancreas, Heart, Adrenal, Intestine, Stomach, and Liver) using Monte Carlo Simulation (GATE code) with Zubal phantom. Moreover, compared with MIRD method, the results of the simulation showed considerable consistency. It was estimated that a 1-MBq administration of 177Lu-BBN-GABA-DOTA to the human body would result in an absorbed dose of 1.07E-02 mGy and 4.97E-02 (MIRD method) and 1.26E-02 mGy and 5.19E-02 (Gate code) in the Pancreas and adrenal 120 h after injection, respectively. The highest and lowest percentage differences between MIRD and Gate results are related to the Pancreas and spleen, respectively. Finally, the results showed that there is a good agreement between MIRD method and Gate code simulation for absorbed dose estimation.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Previous research has shown that cerebral T1 hypointense lesions are positively correlated with the disability of multiple sclerosis (MS) patients. Hence, they could be used as an objective marker for evaluating the progression of the disease. Up to this date, there has not been a systematic evaluation of the effects of disease-modifying therapies (DMTs) on this prognostic marker. OBJECTIVES To evaluate the effects of FDA-approved DMTs on the numbers and volume of T1 hypointense lesions in adult patients with MS. METHODS We included studies with the mentioned desired outcomes. In March 2021, we searched MEDLINE (Ovid), Embase, and CENTRAL to find relevant studies. All included studies were assessed for the risk of bias using the RoB-2 tool. Extracted data were analyzed using a random-effects model. Certainty of evidence was assessed using GRADE. RESULTS Thirteen studies with 7484 participants were included. Meta-analysis revealed the mean difference between the intervention and comparator groups for the number of lesions was -1.3 (95% CI: -2.1, -0.5) and for the mean volume of lesions was -363.1 (95% CI: -611.6, -114.6). Certainty of evidence was judged to be moderate. Heterogeneity was considerable. DISCUSSION DMTs reduce the number and volume of T1 hypointense lesions. Although, these findings must be interpreted cautiously due to the high values of heterogeneity.

Abstract
AbstractModern biology investigations on phytochromes as near-infrared fluorescent pigments pave the way for the development of new biosensors, as well as for optogenetics and in vivo imaging tools. Recently, near-infrared fluorescent proteins (NIR-FPs) engineered from biliverdin-binding bacteriophytochromes and cyanobacteriochromes, and from phycocyanobilin-binding cyanobacterial phytochromes have become promising probes for fluorescence microscopy and in vivo imaging. However, current NIR-FPs typically suffer from low fluorescence quantum yields and short fluorescence lifetimes. Here, we applied the rational approach of combining mutations known to enhance fluorescence in the cyanobacterial phytochrome Cph1 to derive a series of highly fluorescent variants with fluorescence quantum yield exceeding 15%. These variants were characterised by biochemical and spectroscopic methods, including time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy. We show that these new NIR-FPs exhibit high fluorescence quantum yields and long fluorescence lifetimes, contributing to their bright fluorescence, and provide fluorescence lifetime imaging measurements in E.coli cells.

Abstract
Beta-lactam resistance in Gram-negative bacteria, especially Escherichia coli, is a main clinical problem. It is often caused by the production of β-lactamases, particularly extended-spectrum β-lactamases (ESBLs) or AmpC enzymes. This study was undertaken to characterize ESBL and AmpC producers among Escherichia coli isolates from urine samples. During six months, 263 E. coli isolates were detected by standard biochemical tests. The isolates were screened for ESBL production by the double-disk synergy test using Ceftazidime (30 μg) and Cefotaxime (30 μg) disks and confirmed by combined disk diffusion test using Clavulanic acid. AmpC production was confirmed by an AmpC disk test based on filter paper disks impregnated with EDTA. The presence of genes encoding TEM, SHV, CTX-M, CIT, FOX, MOX, ACC, and EBC were detected by PCR. 263 E. coli isolates were selected for the combined disk (Ceftazidime, Cefotaxime, and Clavulanic acid) assay in the disk agar diffusion test. In the combined disk assay, among 263 isolates, 121 (46%) isolates were detected as ESBLs, and none of the isolates were AmpC producers. PCR performed on all ESBL producers and blaSHV, blaTEM, and blaCTX-M were detected in 42 (34.7%), 44 (36.4%), and 47 (38.8%) cases, respectively. Also, from 48 Isolates with zone diameters of less than or equal to 18 mm to Cefoxitin, 7 (14.6%), 4 (8.3%), and 9 (18.8%) cases contained MOX, EBC, and CIT genes, respectively. DHA, FOX, and ACC genes were not detected in any sample. Since pathogens evolve in the hospital setting, updating local data, such as this research, offers scientific evidence to improve the outcome of nosocomial infections.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES This study aimed to summarise the effect of community-based intervention programmes on the prevention of cardiovascular disease (CVD) by reducing cardiometabolic risk factors. STUDY DESIGN This was a systematic review and meta-analysis. METHODS A systematic search in the PubMed database and screening of reference lists aimed to identify community-based CVD prevention programmes from inception up to April 2020. The mean differences and standard deviations for CVD risk factors, including blood pressure, lipid profile, blood glucose and body weight indices, were extracted and pooled using a random effects model. RESULTS Screening of 11,889 titles/abstracts and full texts resulted in 48 studies being included in this review. The meta-analysis showed that community-based programmes have led to considerable decreases in systolic blood pressure (weighted mean difference [WMD] = -2.90 mm Hg, 95% confidence interval [95% CI]: -3.63, -2.16), diastolic blood pressure (WMD = -2.21 mm Hg, 95% CI: -3.12, -1.29), serum levels of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C; WMD = -8.88 mg/dl, 95% CI: -12.84, -4.92), triglycerides (WMD = -8.40 mg/dl, 95% CI: -12.10, -4.70), total cholesterol (WMD = -2.96 mg/dl, 95% CI: -3.10, -2.81) and fasting blood glucose (WMD = -2.06 mg/dl, 95% CI: -3.02, -1.10). A moderate decrease in body weight was also found with community-based CVD prevention programmes. However, community-based CVD prevention programmes were not associated with any significant changes in serum levels of high-density lipoprotein. CONCLUSIONS The present study indicates that community-based strategies have successfully led to an improvement in CVD risk factors, particularly by reducing blood pressure, serum levels of LDL-C and triglycerides, obesity indices and blood glucose. The impact of these programmes on CVD is modified by the type of intervention and by different cultural and physical environments.

Abstract
Accurate quantification of the impact of visual, somatosensory, and vestibular systems on postural control may inform tailor-made balance intervention strategies. The aim of this proof-of-concept study was to determine the safety, sense of presence, system usability, and face validity of a newly developed Virtual Reality Comprehensive Balance Assessment and Training (VR-ComBAT) in healthy young individuals. The VR-ComBAT included six balance condition: (1) stable surface with fixed virtual reality (VR) surroundings; (2) stable surface with blacked out VR surroundings; (3) stable surface with VR visual conflict; (4) unstable surface with fixed VR surroundings; (5) unstable surface with blacked out VR surroundings; and (6) unstable surface with VR visual conflict. Safety was evaluated using the number of adverse events, including scores on the Simulator Sickness Questionnaire. Sense of presence was evaluated using the igroup Presence Questionnaire (iPQ). System usability was assessed using the Systems Usability Scale (SUS). Friedman analyses with post hoc Wilcoxon Signed Rank tests were employed to demonstrate face validity by quantifying center of pressure (COP) changes in mean distance, mean velocity, and mean frequency in the anteroposterior (AP) and mediolateral (ML) direction across the six conditions. Twenty-three participants (27.4 ± 8.0 years old; 13 women) reported no adverse events. Participants scores on average 44.9 ± 9.6 on the iPQ and 79.7 ± 9.9 on the SUS. Post hoc analyses showed significant changes in COP-based measures when compared to baseline. The mean frequency change of COP showed direction-dependence in which increased frequency change in AP was observed while decreased change in ML was noted. The VR-ComBAT provides a safe, feasible, and cost-effective VR environment that demonstrates consistent sensory re-weighting between visual, somatosensory, and vestibular systems. Future studies should investigate whether VR-ComBAT can be used to inform precision rehabilitation of balance and fall prevention in older adults without and with neurological conditions.

Abstract
Lateral crural cut and overlay (LCC) or medial crural cut and overlay (MCC) are two of the many techniques applied to ensure an adequate nasal tip projection and rotation, but little evidence supports their long-term efficacy. Fifty-four rhinoplasty candidates were studied prospectively in this randomised clinical trial. The subjects were randomly divided into two groups according to the use of LCC or MCC. The outcome measures were gaining and maintaining tip projection and rotation in the long term. Standardised photographs taken before and at three and 12 months after surgery were used to compare nasolabial angle and projection between groups. Patients' satisfaction with the cosmetic results and nasal obstruction were evaluated using the Standardised Cosmesis and Health Nasal Outcomes Survey (SCHNOS). LCC and MCC were each used in 26 cases. Preoperatively, the nasolabial angle, tip projection, and other characteristics were not significantly different between the groups. There was no significant difference in tip rotation stability (p = 0.624) and projection (p = 0.329) between the groups postoperatively, but patients' satisfaction with the cosmetic results was significantly higher in the MCC group (p = 0.046). It seems that both LCC and MCC are effective techniques in rhinoplasty. Compared with LCC, the use of MCC in qualified hands may increase the patients' satisfaction with the cosmetic results.

Abstract
A new adsorbent, poly(amide-imide)/zinc sulfide nanocomposite (PAI/ZnS NC), was fabricated and identified by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, field emission-scanning electron microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy. Then, the obtained NC was applied for the simultaneous removal of auramine O (AO) and rhodamine B (RB) dyes from aqueous solution via the interactions of hydrogen bonding, π– π stacking, and Lewis acid–base interaction. The effects of operational variables including pH, PAI/ZnS NC mass, AO and RB concentration, and sonication time on removal efficiency were examined and optimized values were found to be 8.0, 16 mg, 11 mg L−1, and 6 min, respectively. The adsorption capacities of PAI/ZnS NC for the removal of AO and RB dyes were found to be 70.92 and 91.74 mg g−1, respectively. Ultraviolet–visible spectrophotometer was used to determine the amount of residual dye in solution. Fitting the experimental equilibrium data to isotherm models such as Langmuir, Freundlich, Temkin, and Dubinin–Radushkevich reveals the suitability of the Langmuir model with high correlation coefficients ( R2 = 0.998 for AO and R2 = 0.999 for RB). Pseudo-first-order, pseudo-second-order, intraparticle diffusion, and Elovich kinetic models applicability was tested and the pseudo-second-order equation controls the kinetics of the adsorption process. Furthermore, this study establishes that PAI/ZnS NC can be successfully applied as a low-cost adsorbent and conserve its high efficiency after nine cycles for the removal of AO and RB dyes.

Abstract
Species of Solierella Spinola, 1851 (Hymenoptera, Crabronidae) in Iran are revised and a key to species is given. The following species from southern Iran are described, based on females only: Solierella farsica Schmid-Egger sp. nov., Solierella kermania Schmid-Egger sp. nov., Solierella khafriensis Schmid-Egger sp. nov. and Solierella persica Schmid-Egger sp. nov. In addition, four species, S. insidiosa de Beaumont, 1964, S. pisonoides (Saunders 1873), S. syriaca de Beaumont, 1964 and S. verhoeffi de Beaumont, 1964 are recorded for the first time for fauna of Iran. Solierella compedita (Piccioli, 1869) could not be confirmed for the fauna of Iran, recognition characters of S. insidiosa and S. compedita are discussed. The number of Solierella species in Iran raises to ten.

Abstract
Background Optimizing anesthetic management for the best possible outcome is essential in kidney transplantation (KT). Objective To evaluate the difference in grafted kidney function and early kidney transplant outcome when the pairs of donor-recipient were anesthetized with isoflurane compared to propofol. Methods Thirty-eight pairs of kidney transplant donor-recipient were anesthetized with isoflurane, and 22 pairs were anesthetized with propofol. Blood urea nitrogen (BUN), serum creatinine (SCr), estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) were assessed in the preoperative period, on the first postoperative day, before discharge from the hospital, and 6 months after KT. Short-term (6 months) outcomes of KT were assessed by the incidence of delayed graft function, acute rejection episodes, and graft failure. Results There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups in the serial measurements of SCr, BUN, eGFR, and the early outcomes (6 months) after surgery. Interestingly, donor warm ischemic time in the propofol group was significantly longer than in the isoflurane group (4.05±1.02, 2.93±0.87 minutes, respectively) (p=0.001). Moreover, postoperative hospital stay in the propofol group were significantly shorter compared to the isoflurane group (9.63±2.96, 11.78±4.91 days, respectively) (p=0.02). Conclusion There were no significant differences in transplanted kidney function and the early outcome of kidney transplantation between the two study groups. However, earlier hospital discharge after surgery in the propofol group suggests that propofol may be a more appropriate anesthetic choice in these patients.

Abstract
The aim of this study is to assess the content of heavy metals and their potential health risk in consumed food crops. To this end, the samples from vegetables, rice, potato, onion, and black tea were derived from high sales and commonly consumed types. The noncarcinogenic health risk of heavy metals to the adults, teens, and children was estimated by target hazard quotients (THQs) and hazard index (HI) calculation. Sensitivity and uncertainty analyses were carried out using Monte Carlo simulations. Heavy metal pollution index (HMI) was used for ranking noncarcinogenic heavy metal pollution in sampled food crops. THQs showed that noncarcinogenic health risks to the local population were largely related to As (0.71 for adults, 0.87 for teens, and 2.4 for children), Mn (0.43 for adults, 0.28 for teens, and 0.64 for children), and Mo (0.12 for adults, 0.02 for teens, and 0.4 for children). HI for individual food crops (HIΣfi) in terms of different populations showed that the highest HIΣfi was for children while the highest HIΣTea was for adults. The arrangement of the calculated HIΣfi along with its highest value was in the order of HIΣRice (3.71) > HIΣTea (0.39) > HIΣBeans (0.2) > HIΣVegetables (0.13) > HIΣOnion (0.12) > HIΣPotato (0.11). The value of HI for all sampled food crops based on their daily ingestion rate achieved by deterministic and probabilistic (Monte Carlo simulations) approaches for adults, teens, and children was 1.63, 1.28, and 1.87, 1.67, 4.51, and 2.48 respectively, and revealed that all populations are vulnerable to the significant noncarcinogenic health risks and children are at more risk. The sensitivity analysis revealed that the ingestion rate (IR) is the most influential factor that contributed to the total risk. The determined HMI showed no heavy metal pollution for all food crops, and rice had higher-order in HMI ranking. These results showed that heavy metals exposure due to food ingestion is a threat to human health and needs choosing a proper strategy to reduce heavy metal exposure.

Abstract
An annotated list of Iranian digger wasps of the genus Tachysphex Kohl, 1883 (Hymenoptera, Apoidea, Crabronidae) is presented based on the material collected in the southern part of the country and on data published from the period 1933-March 2020 (87 years). In all, 46 species of eight species-groups are documented (T. persa has two subspecies: T. persa persa Gussakovskij, 1933 and T. persa nigripes Pulawski, 1967). Of the eight species-groups, the pompiliformis species-group (17 species) and the panzer species-group (11 species) are the most species-rich, whereas the brevipennis species-group is represented by only one species. The following three species are newly recorded from Iran, all from Fars Province: T. helveticus Kohl, 1885, T. melas Kohl, 1898 and T. palopterus (Dahlbom, 1845). About 19 (41.30%) of the species included here are exclusively Palaearctic, whereas 15 species (32.61%) have wider distributions in the Afrotropical, Palaearctic and Oriental zoogeographic regions. Neighboring countries have many species that overlap with the Iranian Tachysphex fauna; Iran shares 36 species (78.20%) with Turkey, 28 species (60.86%) with Turkmenistan and 18 species (39.13%) with United Arab Emirates.

Abstract
Toxoplasma gondii is a neurotropic pathogen with worldwide distribution. To evaluate the association between Toxoplasma infection and the risk of epilepsy by meta-analysis, observational peer-reviewed studies were retrieved from PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Scopus and Google Scholar (up to 10 October 2018) and by reference review. Pooled risk estimates were calculated using a random effects model. Heterogeneity was assessed using Cochrane's Q-test and I2. In total, 16 eligible studies involving 19 data sets were included for the final analysis. A total 7897 participants (3771 epileptic patients, 4026 healthy controls) were included. The pooled odds ratio (OR) for Toxoplasma infection was increased to 1.72 (95% confidence interval [CI] 1.37 to 2.16) among patients with epilepsy. There was moderate heterogeneity among the studies (χ2=39.8, I2=62.3%, p=0.001). The ORs from subgroup analyses showed that both cryptogenic epilepsy (OR 2.65 [95% CI 1.91 to 3.68]) and active convulsive epilepsy (OR 1.37 [95% CI 1.09 to 1.72]) were significantly associated with Toxoplasma infection. Another subgroup analyses according to age showed a significant positive association in children (OR 1.33), adults (OR 1.57) and in all ages (OR 1.89). Our findings support the association between Toxoplasma infection and epilepsy. More prospective studies with larger sample sizes and more experimental studies are recommended to elucidate a causative relationship.

Abstract
Digital pathology can be thought of as a model composed of 3 main elements; classification algorithm, Graphical User Interface (GUI) and the pathologists. Currently there is only a one way interaction from the classification algorithm to the pathologist. This paper, proposes an additional backward path which is a new feedback-based method, aimed to improve the performance of the classification algorithms by utilizing the feedback of the pathologists. The GUI developed for this purpose, is aimed to be simple and adaptive to different classification algorithms. The method showed significant improvement in the classification performance of the applied Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) algorithm. The 25% quantile of the probability score of the predictions increased from 0.48 to 0.89 and the median of the data increased from 0.95 to 0.99.

Abstract
Ultrasound (US) is an affordable and important imaging modality in medical imaging without potential hazards for patients and medical practitioners as compared to computed tomography which uses X-rays, magnetic resonance imaging which uses magnetic field and radio waves that could heat up the patient's body during long examinations, nuclear imaging, etc. Texture classification of anatomical structures in US images is an essential step for disease diagnosis and monitoring. In this work, we employed a convolutional neural network to segment thyroid gland in US images. This is particularly important for thyroid diseases diagnosis as they involve changes in the shape and size of the thyroid over time. The training of the Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) was not done directly on the acquired US images but on texture database that is created by dividing the thyroid US images of size 760 × 500 pixels into smaller texture patches of size 20 × 20 pixels. We obtained a Dice coefficient (DC) of 0.876 and Hausdorff Distance (HD) of 7.3 using the trained CNN that classifies the thyroid tissues as thyroid or non-thyroid. This approach was compared to the classic image processing approaches like active contours with edges (ACWE), graph cut (GC) and pixel-based classifier (PBC) which obtained a DC of 0.805, 0.745 and 0.666 respectively and Volumetric and Mass-Spring Models which obtained a HD of 11.1 and 9.8 respectively.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Cognitive impairment is common in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS). Accurate and repeatable measures of cognition have the potential to be used as markers of disease activity. METHODS We developed a 5-min computerized test to measure cognitive dysfunction in patients with MS. The proposed test - named the Integrated Cognitive Assessment (ICA) - is self-administered and language-independent. Ninety-one MS patients and 83 healthy controls (HC) took part in Substudy 1, in which each participant took the ICA test and the Brief International Cognitive Assessment for MS (BICAMS). We assessed ICA's test-retest reliability, its correlation with BICAMS, its sensitivity to discriminate patients with MS from the HC group, and its accuracy in detecting cognitive dysfunction. In Substudy 2, we recruited 48 MS patients, 38 of which had received an 8-week physical and cognitive rehabilitation programme and 10 MS patients who did not. We examined the association between the level of serum neurofilament light (NfL) in these patients and their ICA scores and Symbol Digit Modalities Test (SDMT) scores pre- and post-rehabilitation. RESULTS The ICA demonstrated excellent test-retest reliability (r = 0.94), with no learning bias, and showed a high level of convergent validity with BICAMS. The ICA was sensitive in discriminating the MS patients from the HC group, and demonstrated high accuracy (AUC = 95%) in discriminating cognitively normal from cognitively impaired participants. Additionally, we found a strong association (r = - 0.79) between ICA score and the level of NfL in MS patients before and after rehabilitation. CONCLUSIONS The ICA has the potential to be used as a digital marker of cognitive impairment and to monitor response to therapeutic interventions. In comparison to standard cognitive tools for MS, the ICA is shorter in duration, does not show a learning bias, and is independent of language.

Abstract
Phytochromes are biological red/far-red light sensors found in many organisms. Prototypical phytochromes, including Cph1 from the cyanobacterium Synechocystis 6803, act as photochemical switches that interconvert between stable red (Pr)- and metastable far-red (Pfr)-absorbing states induced by photoisomerization of the bilin chromophore. The connection between photoconversion and the cellular output signal involves light-mediated global structural changes in the interaction between the photosensory module (PAS-GAF-PHY) and the C-terminal transmitter (output) module, usually a histidine kinase, as in the case of Cph1. The chromophore deprotonates transiently during the Pr → Pfr photoconversion in association with extensive global structural changes required for signal transmission. Here, we performed equilibrium studies in the Pr state, involving pH titration of the linear tetrapyrrole chromophore in different Cph1 constructs, and measurement of pH-dependent structural changes at various positions in the protein using picosecond time-resolved fluorescence anisotropy. The fluorescent reporter group was attached at positions 371 (PHY domain), 305 (GAF domain), and 120 (PAS domain), as well as at sites in the PAS-GAF bidomain. We show direct correlation of chromophore deprotonation with pH-dependent conformational changes in the various domains. Our results suggest that chromophore deprotonation is closely associated with a higher protein mobility (conformational space) both in proximal and in distal protein sites, implying a causal relationship that might be important for the global large protein arrangements and thus intramolecular signal transduction.

Abstract
Validation of species using independent lines of evidence is sometimes desirable when their identification using only one approach is difficult or questionable. The identification of anchovies (Engraulidae) are often challenging based on morphology because closely related species exhibit only slight morphological differentiation. This study utilized morphological characteristics and DNA barcodes for identification and validation of anchovies in the Persian Gulf and Oman Sea. Based on morphology, we identified eight species: Thryssa hamiltonii, T. setirostris, T. vitrirostris, T. whiteheadi, T. dussumieri, Encrasicholina punctifer, E. pseudoheteroloba and Stolephorus indicus. A 658 bp region of mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase subunit I (COI) was generated for 53 specimens from these eight species. From these sequences, we built a Maximum Likelihood phylogenetic tree. In this tree, each species forms a monophyletic group confirming our initial morphological identification. In addition, we provided (and registered in GenBank) the first barcode sequences for T. whiteheadi, an endemic species of this region. Interspecies genetic distances were comprised between 0.168 to 0.275. The largest genetic distance was found between T. vitrirostris and S. indicus and the smallest between T. dussumieri and T. whiteheadi. This study successfully identified eight species of anchovies in the Persian Gulf and Oman Sea based on both morphological and molecular characters.

Abstract
1. This study was performed to evaluate the effects of dietary supplementation of coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) on laying rate, body weight, plasma metabolites and some liver gene expression in broiler breeder hens. 2. A total of 128 broiler breeder hens (Arbor Acres Plus, 47 weeks of age) were randomly distributed to four dietary groups supplemented with different levels of CoQ10 (0, 300, 600 or 900 mg/kg diet) with four replicates of eight hens each. During 47-54 weeks of age, laying rate, egg mass and body weight were recorded weekly. To assay plasma biochemical indicators, blood samples were collected at 54 weeks of age. At the end of the experiment, for evaluating the abdominal fat weight, liver weight and expression of the adiponectin and proliferator-activated receptor-α (PPAR-α) genes in the liver, eight hens per treatment were selected, weighed and humanely killed by decapitation. 3. Dietary supplementation of CoQ10 linearly decreased abdominal fat weight, alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) activities by increased levels of CoQ10. The plasma levels of glucose, cholesterol and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity were quadratically decreased by increased levels of CoQ10. The best plasma levels of glucose, cholesterol and ALP activity were estimated at 562.5, 633.3 and 517.8 mg CoQ10/kg diet, respectively. Adiponectin and PPARα gene expression exhibited a linear increased by increased levels of CoQ10. 4. In conclusion, addition of CoQ10 to the diet influenced lipid metabolism and expression of the adiponectin and PPAR-α genes, which might be partially due to the improvement in mitochondrial metabolism and energy production. However, further studies are necessary to determine the effects of CoQ10 on these indicators in broiler breeder hens during ageing.

Abstract
Thermographic imaging is a known technology to detect temperature differences. For medical applications, the patterns of heat distribution are used for diagnosis. It is already tested to visualize blood supply, inflammatory processes, and superficial or more extensive tumors, e.g. in the breast tissue. This method was promoted for breast screening purposes and as a substitute for mammography for mid aged women, but the results were not convincing for younger women, where tissue density is higher, tumor growth is often connected to local temperature increase and radiation-based mammography is not an option. Infrared (IR) thermography can support tumor screening. The screening should allow the early detection of small lesions even in the depth. Therefor we evaluated the feasibility of dynamic cooling in combination with IR imaging in a phantom study. A temperature-controllable gel phantom including a heating plate, a depth-adjustable heat source mimicking a tumor, and three sensors for temperature monitoring was built up. A raspberry pi device serves as a control unit to create a stable temperature balance comparable to a human breast. For the experiments, the tumor was placed in various depth. After cooling, the thermal recovery phase of the phantom was imaged using an IR camera and a webcam. A pixel-wise analysis of the IR data detects a higher gradient of temperature change in the tumor region. The experiments demonstrated the feasibility of tumor detection based on dynamic cooling and IR imaging.

Abstract
Carbohydrate-rich diets may increase urinary excretion of chromium (Cr) and the need to supplement the diet with Cr to meet animal requirements. The present study was performed to examine the effect of the type of grain (corn vs. barley) and Cr-methionine supplementation on health-related variables, blood levels of metabolites and hormones related to energy metabolism, and insulin sensitivity in Holstein calves. Forty-eight newborn heifers (3 d of age) were assigned randomly to 4 diets in a 2 × 2 factorial arrangement. Experimental diets were either corn-based (CBD) or barley-based (BBD) diets supplemented with 0 or 0.05 mg/kg of metabolic body weight. Chromium was provided in milk before weaning (d 3-73 of age) and in prewarmed water after weaning (d 74-94 of age). There was no interaction between the type of grain and Cr on the health-related variables and blood metabolites and hormones. Type of grain did not affect fecal score, respiration rate, and rectal temperature; however, there were tendencies for higher diarrhea occurrence (odds ratio = 1.69) and lower chance of having pneumonia (odds ratio = 0.49) in calves fed BBD versus CBD despite longer duration of diarrhea (0.54 d) and shorter days with pneumonia (0.63 d) in calves fed BBD. Calves supplemented with Cr had lower fecal score during the preweaning and overall periods and respiration rate throughout the study. Supplemental Cr decreased the duration (0.63 d) and chance of having pneumonia (odds ratio = 2.01). Calves fed BBD had lower blood levels of urea N during the postweaning period, with no changes in other blood variables between CBD and BBD. Tendencies were detected for lower blood levels of β-hydroxybutyric acid during the preweaning and overall periods and higher cortisol in Cr-supplemented calves. Chromium supplementation increased insulin clearance rate and decreased the time to half-maximal concentration and the area under the curve in BBD but not CBD calves. The calves were generally healthy, and the type of grain did not affect the health and blood variables related to energy metabolism. However, Cr supplementation increased fecal consistency, decreased respiration rate and days with pneumonia, and increased insulin sensitivity when added to BBD.
