USP6 and circCYFIP2 target oncoprotein GOLPH3 for deubiquitination and induce platinum resistance in colon cancer. Biochem Pharmacol 2024:116274. [PMID: 38735445 DOI: 10.1016/j.bcp.2024.116274] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 12/19/2023] [Revised: 04/20/2024] [Accepted: 05/07/2024] [Indexed: 05/14/2024]
Abstract
GOLPH3 has been identified as an oncoprotein, playing a crucial role on progression and chemoresistancein of colon adenocarcinoma (COAD). However, it is still unclear the regulation of GOLPH3 expression at protein level. We discovered ubiquitin-specific proteases 6 (USP6) directly regulated the deubiquitination of the GOLPH3 protein and enhanced its stability in COAD. Overexpression of USP6 promoted COAD cell viability, inhibited apoptosis, and accelerated the growth of transplanted tumors growth in vitro and in vivo by deubiquitinating GOLPH3. Additionally, circCYFIP2 showed high expression levels in DDP-resistant colon cancer cells, promoting the cell proliferation. Mechanically, circCYFIP2 binds to both GOLPH3 protein and USP6, strengthening the interaction between GOLPH3 and USP6, and consequently induced DDP resistance in vitro and in vivo. In conclusion, USP6 operates as a deubiquitinase, targeting the GOLPH3 protein in COAD and enhancing its stability. Meanwhile, circCYFIP2 is crucial for the deubiquitination of GOLPH3 protein mediated by USP6 and acts as a scaffold to confer platinum resistance. The discovery of circCYFIP2/USP6/GOLPH3 pathway offers a potential target for overcoming chemoresistance in COAD.

Abstract
Based on (10087±44)×10^{6} J/ψ events collected with the BESIII detector, a partial wave analysis of the decay J/ψ→γK_{S}^{0}K_{S}^{0}η^{'} is performed. The mass and width of the X(2370) are measured to be 2395±11(stat)_{-94}^{+26}(syst) MeV/c^{2} and 188_{-17}^{+18}(stat)_{-33}^{+124}(syst) MeV, respectively. The corresponding product branching fraction is B[J/ψ→γX(2370)]×B[X(2370)→f_{0}(980)η^{'}]×B[f_{0}(980)→K_{S}^{0}K_{S}^{0}]=(1.31±0.22(stat)_{-0.84}^{+2.85}(syst))×10^{-5}. The statistical significance of the X(2370) is greater than 11.7σ and the spin parity is determined to be 0^{-+} for the first time. The measured mass and spin parity of the X(2370) are consistent with the predictions of the lightest pseudoscalar glueball.

Abstract
We present measurements of the Born cross sections for the processes e^{+}e^{-}→ωχ_{c1} and ωχ_{c2} at center-of-mass energies sqrt[s] from 4.308 to 4.951 GeV. The measurements are performed with data samples corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 11.0 fb^{-1} collected with the BESIII detector operating at the Beijing Electron Positron Collider storage ring. Assuming the e^{+}e^{-}→ωχ_{c2} signals come from a single resonance, the mass and width are determined to be M=(4413.6±9.0±0.8) MeV/c^{2} and Γ=(110.5±15.0±2.9) MeV, respectively, which is consistent with the parameters of the well-established resonance ψ(4415). In addition, we also use one single resonance to describe the e^{+}e^{-}→ωχ_{c1} line shape and determine the mass and width to be M=(4544.2±18.7±1.7) MeV/c^{2} and Γ=(116.1±33.5±1.7) MeV, respectively. The structure of this line shape, observed for the first time, requires further understanding.

Abstract
We perform a study of the χ_{c1}(3872) line shape using the data samples of e^{+}e^{-}→γχ_{c1}(3872), χ_{c1}(3872)→D^{0}D[over ¯]^{0}π^{0}, and π^{+}π^{-}J/ψ collected with the BESIII detector. The effects of the coupled channels and the off-shell D^{*0} are included in the parametrization of the line shape. The line shape mass parameter is obtained to be M_{X}=(3871.63±0.13_{-0.05}^{+0.06}) MeV. Two poles are found on the first and second Riemann sheets corresponding to the D^{*0}D[over ¯]^{0} branch cut. The pole location on the first sheet is much closer to the D^{*0}D[over ¯]^{0} threshold than the other, and is determined to be 7.04±0.15_{-0.08}^{+0.07} MeV above the D^{0}D[over ¯]^{0}π^{0} threshold with an imaginary part -0.19±0.08_{-0.19}^{+0.14} MeV.

Abstract
Using a sample of (10087±44)×10^{6} J/ψ events, which is about 45 times larger than that was previously analyzed, a further investigation on the J/ψ→γ3(π^{+}π^{-}) decay is performed. A significant distortion at 1.84 GeV/c^{2} in the line shape of the 3(π^{+}π^{-}) invariant mass spectrum is observed for the first time, which could be resolved by two overlapping resonant structures, X(1840) and X(1880). The new state X(1880) is observed with a statistical significance larger than 10σ. The mass and width of X(1880) are determined to be 1882.1±1.7±0.7 MeV/c^{2} and 30.7±5.5±2.4 MeV, respectively, which indicates the existence of a pp[over ¯] bound state.

Abstract
Using e^{+}e^{-} collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 7.33 fb^{-1} recorded by the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies between 4.128 and 4.226 GeV, we present an analysis of the decay D_{s}^{+}→π^{+}π^{-}e^{+}ν_{e}, where the D_{s}^{+} is produced via the process e^{+}e^{-}→D_{s}^{*±}D_{s}^{∓}. We observe the f_{0}(980) in the π^{+}π^{-} system and the branching fraction of the decay D_{s}^{+}→f_{0}(980)e^{+}ν_{e} with f_{0}(980)→π^{+}π^{-} measured to be (1.72±0.13_{stat}±0.10_{syst})×10^{-3}, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. The dynamics of the D_{s}^{+}→f_{0}(980)e^{+}ν_{e} decay are studied with the simple pole parametrization of the hadronic form factor and the Flatté formula describing the f_{0}(980) in the differential decay rate, and the product of the form factor f_{+}^{f_{0}}(0) and the c→s Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element |V_{cs}| is determined for the first time to be f_{+}^{f_{0}}(0)|V_{cs}|=0.504±0.017_{stat}±0.035_{syst}. Furthermore, the decay D_{s}^{+}→f_{0}(500)e^{+}ν_{e} is searched for the first time but no signal is found. The upper limit on the branching fraction of D_{s}^{+}→f_{0}(500)e^{+}ν_{e}, f_{0}(500)→π^{+}π^{-} decay is set to be 3.3×10^{-4} at 90% confidence level.

Abstract
Objective: To identify the characteristics of the bone marrow immune microenvironment associated with long-term survival in multiple myeloma (MM) patients. Methods: In the follow-up cohort of patients with newly diagnosed MM and who received "novel agent induction therapy and subsequent autologous stem cell transplantation and immunomodulator maintenance therapy" in the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, a cross-sectional study was carried out between August 2019 and May 2020. Using NanoString technology, the RNA expression of 770 bone marrow immune-related markers was compared between 16 patients who had progression-free survival ≥5 years and 5 patients with progressive disease. Among the 16 patients who achieved long-term survival, 9 achieved persistent minimal residual disease (MRD) negative while the other 7 had persistent positive MRD. The functional scores of each kind of immune cells were calculated based on the expression level of characteristic genes, so as to indirectly obtained the proportion of each immune cell subset. The Mann-Whitney U test and the Kruskal Wallis test were used for statistical analysis. Results: The proportion of neutrophils was significantly higher in long-surviving MM patients than in patients with progressive disease [functional scores, 13.61 (13.33, 14.25) vs. 12.93 (12.58, 13.38); Z=2.31, P=0.021]. Among long-surviving patients, those who were MRD-positive had a significantly greater number of mast cells compared with those who were MRD-negative [functional scores, 7.09 (6.49, 8.57) vs. 6.03 (5.18, 6.69); H=2.18, P=0.029]. Compared with patients with progressive disease, four genes (CTSG, IFIT2, S100B, and CHIT1) were significantly downregulated and six (C4B, TNFRSF17, CD70, IRF4, C2, and GAGE1) were upregulated in long-surviving patients. Among long-surviving patients, only gene CMA1 was significantly upgraded, 10 genes (ISG15, OAS3, MX1, IFIT2, DDX58, SIGLEC1, CXCL10, IL1RN, SERPING and TNFSF10) were significantly downregulated in the MRD-positive group compared with that in the MRD-negative group, the first 5 of which are related to the interferon response pathway. Conclusions: The increased neutrophil and mast cell numbers may be related to long-term survival in MM. Interferon signaling activation may be a key bone marrow immune profiling feature for MRD-negative, long-surviving patients with MM.

Abstract
We perform for the first time an amplitude analysis of the decay D^{+}→K_{S}^{0}π^{+}η and report the observation of the decay D^{+}→K_{S}^{0}a_{0}(980)^{+} using 2.93 fb^{-1} of e^{+}e^{-} collision data taken at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector. As the only W-annihilation-free decay among D to a_{0}(980) pseudoscalar, D^{+}→K_{S}^{0}a_{0}(980)^{+} is the ideal decay in extracting the contributions of the W-emission amplitudes involving a_{0}(980) and to study the final-state interactions. The absolute branching fraction of D^{+}→K_{S}^{0}π^{+}η is measured to be (1.27±0.04_{stat}±0.03_{syst})%. Measurements of All-Particle Energy Spectrum and Mean Logarithmic Mass of Cosmic Rays from 0.3 to 30 PeV with LHAASO-KM2A. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2024; 132:131002. Abstract
We present the measurements of all-particle energy spectrum and mean logarithmic mass of cosmic rays in the energy range of 0.3-30 PeV using data collected from LHAASO-KM2A between September 2021 and December 2022, which is based on a nearly composition-independent energy reconstruction method, achieving unprecedented accuracy. Our analysis reveals the position of the knee at 3.67±0.05±0.15 PeV. Below the knee, the spectral index is found to be -2.7413±0.0004±0.0050, while above the knee, it is -3.128±0.005±0.027, with the sharpness of the transition measured with a statistical error of 2%. The mean logarithmic mass of cosmic rays is almost heavier than helium in the whole measured energy range. It decreases from 1.7 at 0.3 PeV to 1.3 at 3 PeV, representing a 24% decline following a power law with an index of -0.1200±0.0003±0.0341. This is equivalent to an increase in abundance of light components. Above the knee, the mean logarithmic mass exhibits a power law trend towards heavier components, which is reversal to the behavior observed in the all-particle energy spectrum. Additionally, the knee position and the change in power-law index are approximately the same. These findings suggest that the knee observed in the all-particle spectrum corresponds to the knee of the light component, rather than the medium-heavy components.

Abstract
Objective: To construct a novel dual-specific antibody targeting human CD123 (CD123 DuAb) and study its effects in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) . Methods: Based on the variable region of the CD123 monoclonal antibody independently developed at our institution, the CD123 DuAb expression plasmid was constructed by molecular cloning and transfected into ExpiCHO-S cells to prepare the antibody protein. Through a series of in vitro experiments, its activation and proliferation effect on T cells, as well as the effect of promoting T-cell killing of AML cells, were verified. Results: ① A novel CD123 DuAb plasmid targeting CD123 was successfully constructed and expressed in the Expi-CHO eukaryotic system. ②The CD123 DuAb could bind both CD3 on T cells and CD123 on CD123(+) tumor cells. ③When T cells were co-cultured with MV4-11 cells with addition of the CD123 DuAb at a concentration of 1 nmol/L, the positive expression rates of CD69 and CD25 on T cells were 68.0% and 44.3%, respectively, which were significantly higher than those of the control group (P<0.05). ④Co-culture with CD123 DuAb at 1 nmol/L promoted T-cell proliferation, and the absolute T-cell count increased from 5×10(5)/ml to 3.2×10(6)/ml on day 9, and CFSE fluorescence intensity decreased significantly. ⑤ With the increase in CD123 DuAb concentration in the culture system, T-cell exhaustion and apoptosis increased. When the CD123 DuAb was added at a concentration of 1 nmol/L to the culture system, the proportion of CD8(+) PD-1(+) LAG-3(+) T cells was 10.90%, and the proportion of propidium iodide (PI) (-) Annexin Ⅴ(+) T cells and PI(+) Annexin Ⅴ(+) T cells was 18.27% and 11.43%, respectively, which were significantly higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). ⑥ The CD123 DuAb significantly activated T cells, and the activation intensity was positively correlated with its concentration. The expression rate of CD107a on T cells reached 16.05% with 1 nmol/L CD123 DuAb, which was significantly higher than that of the control group (P<0.05). ⑦The CD123 DuAb promoted cytokine secretion by T cells at a concentration of 1 nmol/L, and the concentration of IFN-γ and TNF-α in the supernatant of the co-culture system reached 193.8 pg/ml and 169.8 pg/ml, respectively, which was significantly higher than that of the control group (P<0.05). ⑧When CD123 DuAb was added at a concentration of 1 nmol/L to the co-culture system of T cells and CD123(+) tumor cells, the killing intensity of T cells significantly increased, and the residual rates of CD123(+) MV4-11 cells, CD123(+) Molm13 cells, and CD123(+) THP-1 cells were 7.4%, 6.7%, and 14.6% on day 3, respectively, which were significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.05) . Conclusion: In this study, a novel CD123 DuAb was constructed and expressed. In vitro experiments verified that the DuAb binds to CD123(+) tumor cells and T cells simultaneously, promotes T-cell activation and proliferation, and facilitates their anti-leukemia effect, which provides a basis for further clinical research.

Abstract
Using (10087±44)×10^{6} J/ψ events collected with the BESIII detector, numerous Ξ^{-} and Λ decay asymmetry parameters are simultaneously determined from the process J/ψ→Ξ^{-}Ξ[over ¯]^{+}→Λ(pπ^{-})π^{-}Λ[over ¯](n[over ¯]π^{0})π^{+} and its charge-conjugate channel. The precisions of α_{Λ0} for Λ→nπ^{0} and α[over ¯]_{Λ0} for Λ[over ¯]→n[over ¯]π^{0} compared to world averages are improved by factors of 4 and 1.7, respectively. The ratio of decay asymmetry parameters of Λ→nπ^{0} to that of Λ→pπ^{-}, ⟨α_{Λ0}⟩/⟨α_{Λ-}⟩, is determined to be 0.873±0.012_{-0.010}^{+0.011}, where the first and the second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. The ratio is smaller than unity more than 5σ, which signifies the existence of the ΔI=3/2 transition in Λ for the first time. Besides, we test for CP symmetry in Ξ^{-}→Λπ^{-} and in Λ→nπ^{0} with the best precision to date.

Abstract
By analyzing 7.33 fb^{-1} of e^{+}e^{-} annihilation data collected at center-of-mass energies between 4.128 and 4.226 GeV with the BESIII detector, we report the observation of the semileptonic decay D_{s}^{+}→η^{'}μ^{+}ν_{μ}, with a statistical significance larger than 10σ, and the measurements of the D_{s}^{+}→ημ^{+}ν_{μ} and D_{s}^{+}→η^{'}μ^{+}ν_{μ} decay dynamics for the first time. The branching fractions of D_{s}^{+}→ημ^{+}ν_{μ} and D_{s}^{+}→η^{'}μ^{+}ν_{μ} are determined to be (2.235±0.051_{stat}±0.052_{syst})% and (0.801±0.055_{stat}±0.028_{syst})%, respectively, with precision improved by factors of 6.0 and 6.6 compared to the previous best measurements. Combined with the results for the decays D_{s}^{+}→ηe^{+}ν_{e} and D_{s}^{+}→η^{'}e^{+}ν_{e}, the ratios of the decay widths are examined both inclusively and in several ℓ^{+}ν_{ℓ} four-momentum transfer ranges. No evidence for lepton flavor universality violation is found within the current statistics. The products of the hadronic form factors f_{+,0}^{η^{(')}}(0) and the c→s Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element |V_{cs}| are determined. The results based on the two-parameter series expansion are f_{+,0}^{η}(0)|V_{cs}|=0.452±0.010_{stat}±0.007_{syst} and f_{+,0}^{η^{'}}(0)|V_{cs}|=0.504±0.037_{stat}±0.012_{syst}, which help to constrain present models on f_{+,0}^{η^{(')}}(0). The forward-backward asymmetries are determined to be ⟨A_{FB}^{η}⟩=-0.059±0.031_{stat}±0.005_{syst} and ⟨A_{FB}^{η^{'}}⟩=-0.064±0.079_{stat}±0.006_{syst} for the first time, which are consistent with the theoretical calculation.

The efficacy of antihistamine varies among individuals and cannot meet the needs of all patients. This study aims to explore the clinical efficacy and safety of Zhiyang Xiaozhen granules combined with antihistamine in the treatment of chronic urticaria patients. METHODS We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of patients with chronic urticaria who visited the Xiangya Hospital of Central South University from April 2020 to March 2021. The patients who received conventional second-generation antihistamine treatment were selected as a control group, while the patients who received combined treatment with Zhiyang Xiaozhen granules on the basis of conventional second-generation antihistamine treatment were selected as an observation group. The differences in the Weekly Urticaria Activity Score (UAS7) and Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI) between the 2 groups before and 4 weeks after treatment were compared. The Symptom Score Reduce Index (SSRI) was used to evaluate and compare the efficacy of the 2 treatment regimens. RESULTS After 4 weeks of treatment, the UAS7 levels in both groups were significantly reduced (P=0.001 and P<0.001, respectively). The effective rates of the control group and the observation group were 61.11% and 59.38%, respectively when converting UAS7 to SSRI for efficacy evaluation, and there was no statistically significant difference in efficacy between the 2 groups (P>0.05); however, when converting DLQI to SSRI for efficacy evaluation, the effective rates of the control group and the observation group were 33.33% and 46.88%, respectively, and the difference in efficacy between the 2 groups was statistically significant (P<0.001). There were 3 patients with adverse drug reactions related to drowsiness in both groups. CONCLUSIONS The combination of Zhiyang Xiaozhen granules and second-generation antihistamine can effectively improve disease activity in patients with chronic urticaria, and the improvement in quality of life is better than that with the second-generation antihistamine alone.

Abstract
Based on data samples collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, the process e^{+}e^{-}→Σ^{+}Σ[over ¯]^{-} is studied at center-of-mass energies sqrt[s]=2.3960, 2.6454, and 2.9000 GeV. Using a fully differential angular description of the final state particles, both the relative magnitude and phase information of the Σ^{+} electromagnetic form factors in the timelike region are extracted. The relative phase between the electric and magnetic form factors is determined to be sinΔΦ=-0.67±0.29(stat)±0.18(syst) at sqrt[s]=2.3960 GeV, ΔΦ=55°±19°(stat)±14°(syst) at sqrt[s]=2.6454 GeV, and 78°±22°(stat)±9°(syst) at sqrt[s]=2.9000 GeV. For the first time, the phase of the hyperon electromagnetic form factors is explored in a wide range of four-momentum transfer. The evolution of the phase along with four-momentum transfer is an important input for understanding its asymptotic behavior and the dynamics of baryons.

Abstract
Based on 4.4 fb^{-1} of e^{+}e^{-} annihilation data collected at the center-of-mass energies between 4.60 and 4.70 GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, the pure W-boson-exchange decay Λ_{c}^{+}→Ξ^{0}K^{+} is studied with a full angular analysis. The corresponding decay asymmetry is measured for the first time to be α_{Ξ^{0}K^{+}}=0.01±0.16(stat)±0.03(syst). This result reflects the noninterference effect between the S- and P-wave amplitudes. The phase shift between S- and P-wave amplitudes has two solutions, which are δ_{p}-δ_{s}=-1.55±0.25(stat)±0.05(syst) rad or 1.59±0.25(stat)±0.05(syst) rad.

Effect of Long-Term Sodium Hypochlorite Cleaning on Silicon Carbide Ultrafiltration Membranes Prepared via Low-Pressure Chemical Vapor Deposition. MEMBRANES 2024; 14:22. Abstract
Sodium hypochlorite (NaClO) is widely used for the chemical cleaning of fouled ultrafiltration (UF) membranes. Various studies performed on polymeric membranes demonstrate that long-term (>100 h) exposure to NaClO deteriorates the physicochemical properties of the membranes, leading to reduced performance and service life. However, the effect of NaClO cleaning on ceramic membranes, particularly the number of cleaning cycles they can undergo to alleviate irreversible fouling, remains poorly understood. Silicon carbide (SiC) membranes have garnered widespread attention for water and wastewater treatment, but their chemical stability in NaClO has not been studied. Low-pressure chemical vapor deposition (LP-CVD) provides a simple and economical route to prepare/modify ceramic membranes. As such, LP-CVD facilitates the preparation of SiC membranes: (a) in a single step; and (b) at much lower temperatures (700-900 °C) in comparison with sol-gel methods (ca. 2000 °C). In this work, SiC ultrafiltration (UF) membranes were prepared via LP-CVD at two different deposition temperatures and pressures. Subsequently, their chemical stability in NaClO was investigated over 200 h of aging. Afterward, the properties and performance of as-prepared SiC UF membranes were evaluated before and after aging to determine the optimal deposition conditions. Our results indicate that the SiC UF membrane prepared via LP-CVD at 860 °C and 100 mTorr exhibited excellent resistance to NaClO aging, while the membrane prepared at 750 °C and 600 mTorr significantly deteriorated. These findings not only highlight a novel preparation route for SiC membranes in a single step via LP-CVD, but also provide new insights about the careful selection of LP-CVD conditions for SiC membranes to ensure their long-term performance and robustness under harsh chemical cleaning conditions.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Melanoma, a frequently encountered cutaneous malignancy characterized by a poor prognosis, persists in presenting formidable challenges despite the advancement in molecularly targeted drugs designed to improve survival rates significantly. Unfortunately, as more therapeutic choices have developed over time, the gradual emergence of drug resistance has become a notable impediment to the effectiveness of these therapeutic interventions. The hepatocyte growth factor (HGF)/c-met signaling pathway has attracted considerable attention, associated with drug resistance stemming from multiple potential mutations within the c-met gene. The activation of the HGF/c-met pathway operates in an autocrine manner in melanoma. Notably, a key player in the regulatory orchestration of HGF/c-met activation is the long non-coding RNA MEG3. METHODS Melanoma tissues were collected to measure MEG3 expression. In vitro validation was performed on MEG3 to prove its oncogenic roles. Bioinformatic analyses were conducted on the TCGA database to build the MEG3-related score. The immune characteristics and mutation features of the MEG3-related score were explored. RESULTS We revealed a negative correlation between HGF and MEG3. In melanoma cells, HGF inhibited MEG3 expression by augmenting the methylation of the MEG3 promoter. Significantly, MEG3 exhibits a suppressive impact on the proliferation and migration of melanoma cells, concurrently inhibiting c-met expression. Moreover, a predictive model centered around MEG3 demonstrates notable efficacy in forecasting critical prognostic indicators, immunological profiles, and mutation statuses among melanoma patients. CONCLUSIONS The present study highlights the potential of MEG3 as a pivotal regulator of c-met, establishing it as a promising candidate for targeted drug development in the ongoing pursuit of effective therapeutic interventions.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The literature has reported that supero-lateralization of the femoral head increases the rates of aseptic loosening and prosthesis revision. However, there are few reports on the influence of different hip center positions on liner wear with more than a 15-year follow-up period. METHODS From April 2000 to August 2003, 91 patients underwent 108 total hip arthroplasties using a highly cross-linked polyethylene liner combined with zirconia femoral head and cup components. Pelvic radiographs were used to assess the vertical and horizontal distances to the center of the hip and the amount of liner wear. Mean patient age at the time of surgery was 54 years (range, 33 to 73), and mean follow-up duration was 19 years (range, 18 to 21). RESULTS Average liner wear was 0.221 mm, with average annual wear of 0.012 mm/year. Mean vertical and horizontal distances for the hip center were 24.9 and 31.8 mm, respectively. There was no difference in linear wear between patients who had different hip center heights (<20, 20 to 30, and >30 mm), and quadrant partitioning showed no differences across the 4 quadrant zones. CONCLUSION At a minimum of 18 years of follow-up in patients having developmental dysplasia of the hip who had different Crowe subtypes and different hip centers, elevated hip center and uncemented fixation techniques using a highly cross-linked polyethylene on ceramic components were associated with very low wear rates and excellent functional scores.

Abstract
The quantum entangled J/ψ→Σ^{+}Σ[over ¯]^{-} pairs from (1.0087±0.0044)×10^{10} J/ψ events taken by the BESIII detector are used to study the nonleptonic two-body weak decays Σ^{+}→nπ^{+} and Σ[over ¯]^{-}→n[over ¯]π^{-}. The CP-odd weak decay parameters of the decays Σ^{+}→nπ^{+} (α_{+}) and Σ[over ¯]^{-}→n[over ¯]π^{-} (α[over ¯]_{-}) are determined to be 0.0481±0.0031_{stat}±0.0019_{syst} and -0.0565±0.0047_{stat}±0.0022_{syst}, respectively. The decay parameter α[over ¯]_{-} is measured for the first time, and the accuracy of α_{+} is improved by a factor of 4 compared to the previous results. The simultaneously determined decay parameters allow the first precision CP symmetry test for any hyperon decay with a neutron in the final state with the measurement of A_{CP}=(α_{+}+α[over ¯]_{-})/(α_{+}-α[over ¯]_{-})=-0.080±0.052_{stat}±0.028_{syst}. Assuming CP conservation, the average decay parameter is determined as ⟨α_{+}⟩=(α_{+}-α[over ¯]_{-})/2=-0.0506±0.0026_{stat}±0.0019_{syst}, while the ratios α_{+}/α_{0} and α[over ¯]_{-}/α[over ¯]_{0} are -0.0490±0.0032_{stat}±0.0021_{syst} and -0.0571±0.0053_{stat}±0.0032_{syst}, where α_{0} and α[over ¯]_{0} are the decay parameters of the decays Σ^{+}→pπ^{0} and Σ[over ¯]^{-}→p[over ¯]π^{0}, respectively.

Abstract
We study the process e^{+}e^{-}→Λ_{c}^{+}Λ[over ¯]_{c}^{-} at twelve center-of-mass energies from 4.6119 to 4.9509 GeV using data samples collected by the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. The Born cross sections and effective form factors (|G_{eff}|) are determined with unprecedented precision after combining the single and double-tag methods based on the decay process Λ_{c}^{+}→pK^{-}π^{+}. Flat cross sections around 4.63 GeV are obtained and no indication of the resonant structure Y(4630), as reported by Belle, is found. In addition, no oscillatory behavior is discerned in the |G_{eff}| energy dependence of Λ_{c}^{+}, in contrast to what is seen for the proton and neutron cases. Analyzing the cross section together with the polar-angle distribution of the Λ_{c}^{+} baryon at each energy point, the moduli of electric and magnetic form factors (|G_{E}| and |G_{M}|) are extracted and separated. For the first time, the energy dependence of the form factor ratio |G_{E}/G_{M}| is observed, which can be well described by an oscillatory function.

Abstract
Underwater ghost imaging LiDAR is an effective method of underwater detection. In this research, theoretical and experimental investigations were conducted on underwater ghost imaging, combining the underwater optical field transmission model with the inherent optical parameters of a water body. In addition, the Wells model and the approximate Sahu-Shanmugam scattering phase function were used to create a model for underwater optical transmission. The second-order Glauber function of the optical field was then employed to analyze the scattering field degradation during the transmission process. The simulation and experimental results verified that the proposed underwater model could better reveal the degrading effect of a water body on ghost imaging. A further series of experiments comparing underwater ghost imaging at different detection distances was also conducted. In the experimental system, gated photomultiplier tube (PMT) was used to filter out the peak of backscattering, allowing a larger gain to be set for longer-range detection of the target. The laser with a central wavelength of 532 nm was operated at a frequency of 2 KHz, with a single pulse energy of 2 mJ, a pulse width of 10 ns. High-reflective targets were imaged up to 65.2 m (9.3 attenuation lengths (ALs), attenuation coefficient c = 0.1426 m-1, and scattering coefficient b = 0.052 m-1) and diffuse-reflection targets up to 41.2 m (6.4 ALs, c = 0.1569 m-1, and b = 0.081 m-1). For the Jerlov-I (c = 0.048 m-1 and b = 0.002 m-1) water body, the experimentally obtained maximum detection distance of 9.3 ALs can be equivalent to 193.7 m under the same optical system conditions.

Abstract
A narrow structure in the pΛ[over ¯] system near the mass threshold, named as X(2085), is observed in the process e^{+}e^{-}→pK^{-}Λ[over ¯] with a statistical significance greater than 20σ. Its spin and parity are determined for the first time to be J^{P}=1^{+} in an amplitude analysis, with a statistical significance greater than 5σ over other quantum numbers (0^{-},1^{-} and 2^{+}). The pole positions of X(2085) are measured to be M_{pole}=(2084_{-2}^{+4}±9) MeV and Γ_{pole}=(58_{-3}^{+4}±25) MeV, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second ones are systematic. The analysis is based on the study of the process e^{+}e^{-}→pK^{-}Λ[over ¯] and uses the data samples collected with the BESIII detector at the center-of-mass energies sqrt[s]=4.008, 4.178, 4.226, 4.258, 4.416, and 4.682 GeV with a total integrated luminosity of 8.35 fb^{-1}.

Abstract
The diffuse Galactic γ-ray emission, mainly produced via interactions between cosmic rays and the interstellar medium and/or radiation field, is a very important probe of the distribution, propagation, and interaction of cosmic rays in the Milky Way. In this Letter, we report the measurements of diffuse γ rays from the Galactic plane between 10 TeV and 1 PeV energies, with the square kilometer array of the Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory (LHAASO). Diffuse emissions from the inner (15°10 TeV). The energy spectrum in the inner Galaxy regions can be described by a power-law function with an index of -2.99±0.04, which is different from the curved spectrum as expected from hadronic interactions between locally measured cosmic rays and the line-of-sight integrated gas content. Furthermore, the measured flux is higher by a factor of ∼3 than the prediction. A similar spectrum with an index of -2.99±0.07 is found in the outer Galaxy region, and the absolute flux for 10≲E≲60 TeV is again higher than the prediction for hadronic cosmic ray interactions. The latitude distributions of the diffuse emission are consistent with the gas distribution, while the longitude distributions show clear deviation from the gas distribution. The LHAASO measurements imply that either additional emission sources exist or cosmic ray intensities have spatial variations.

Abstract
The process e^{+}e^{-}→D_{s}^{*+}D_{s}^{*-} is studied with a semi-inclusive method using data samples at center-of-mass energies from threshold to 4.95 GeV collected with the BESIII detector operating at the Beijing Electron Positron Collider. The Born cross sections of the process are measured for the first time with high precision in this energy region. Two resonance structures are observed in the energy-dependent cross sections around 4.2 and 4.4 GeV. By fitting the cross sections with a coherent sum of three Breit-Wigner amplitudes and one phase-space amplitude, the two significant structures are assigned masses of (4186.8±8.7±30) and (4414.6±3.4±6.1) MeV/c^{2}, widths of (55±15±53) and (122.5±7.5±8.1) MeV, where the first errors are statistical and the second ones are systematic. The inclusion of a third Breit-Wigner amplitude is necessary to describe a structure around 4.79 GeV.

Abstract
Using 7.33 fb^{-1} of e^{+}e^{-} collision data taken with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, we report the first experimental study of the purely leptonic decay D_{s}^{*+}→e^{+}ν_{e}. Our data contain a signal of this decay with a statistical significance of 2.9σ. The branching fraction of D_{s}^{*+}→e^{+}ν_{e} is measured to be (2.1_{-0.9_{stat}}^{+1.2}±0.2_{syst})×10^{-5}, corresponding to an upper limit of 4.0×10^{-5} at the 90% confidence level. Taking the total width of the D_{s}^{*+} [(0.070±0.028) keV] predicted with the radiative D_{s}^{*+} decay from the lattice QCD calculation as input, the decay constant of the D_{s}^{*+} is determined to be f_{D_{s}^{*+}}=(214_{-46_{stat}}^{+61}±44_{syst}) MeV, corresponding to an upper limit of 354 MeV at the 90% confidence level.

The Mitochondrial-Derived Peptide (MOTS-c) Interacted with Nrf2 to Defend the Antioxidant System to Protect Dopaminergic Neurons Against Rotenone Exposure. Mol Neurobiol 2023; 60:5915-5930. Abstract
MOTS-c is a 16-amino acid mitochondrial-derived peptide reported to be involved in regulating energy metabolism. However, few studies have reported the role of MOTS-c on neuron degeneration. In this study, it was aimed to explore the action of MOTS-c in rotenone-induced dopaminergic neurotoxicity. In an in vitro study, it was observed that rotenone could influence the expression and localization of MOTS-c significantly in PC12 cells, with more MOTS-c translocating into the nucleus from mitochondria. Further study showed that the translocation of MOTS-c from the mitochondria into the nucleus could directly interact with Nrf2 to regulate HO-1 and NQO1 expression in PC12 cells exposed to rotenone, which had been suggested to be involved in the antioxidant defense system. In vivo and in vitro experiments demonstrated that exogenous MOTS-c pretreatment could protect PC12 cells and rats from mitochondrial dysfunction and oxidative stress induced by rotenone. Moreover, MOTS-c pretreatment significantly decreased the loss of TH, PSD95, and SYP protein expression in the striatum of rats exposed to rotenone. In addition, MOTS-c pretreatment could clearly alleviate the downregulated expression of Nrf2, HO-1, and NQO1, as well as the upregulated Keap1 protein expression in the striatum of rotenone-treated rats. Taken together, these findings suggested that MOTS-c could directly interact with Nrf2 to activate the Nrf2/HO-1/NQO1 signal pathway to defend the antioxidant system to prevent dopaminergic neurons from rotenone-induced oxidative stress and neurotoxicity in vitro and in vivo.

Abstract
We report on the first search for Λ[over ¯]-Λ oscillations in the decay J/ψ→pK^{-}Λ[over ¯]+c.c. by analyzing 1.31×10^{9} J/ψ events accumulated with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. The J/ψ events are produced using e^{+}e^{-} collisions at a center of mass energy sqrt[s]=3.097 GeV. No evidence for hyperon oscillations is observed. The upper limit for the oscillation rate of Λ[over ¯] to Λ hyperons is determined to be P(Λ)=[B(J/ψ→pK^{-}Λ+c.c.)/B(J/ψ→pK^{-}Λ[over ¯]+c.c.)]<4.4×10^{-6} corresponding to an oscillation parameter δm_{ΛΛ[over ¯]} of less than 3.8×10^{-18} GeV at the 90% confidence level.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the relationship between nutritional status, body composition and symptoms of Parkinson's disease (PD). Methods: The study was conducted among 102 PD patients between November 2020 to April 2021 in the outpatient and inpatient of Neurology department of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Suzhou University. Basic data, such as age, gender, course of disease and Hoehn-Yahr (H-Y) stage of the patients, were collected. In the "open" state, the Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (UPDRS) and other scales were used to evaluate the clinical symptoms of PD patients. The nutritional status of PD patients was evaluated by the micro-nutrition rating Scale (MNA), and the body composition data of PD patients was measured by the body composition analyzer. The patients were divided into three groups according to the MNA: well-nourished group(45 cases), malnutrition-risk group (43 cases)and malnutrition group(14 cases). Body composition, laboratory tests, bone density, and symptoms of PD were compared among the three groups. Results: Among 102 PD patients, 48 were males (47.1%) and 54 were females (52.9%), aged 42-86 (66±9) years old. Compared with the malnutrition-risk group, lymphocytes in the malnutrition group [(1.45±0.48) × 109/L vs (1.76±0.43)×109/L], uric acid [(227±54) μmol/L vs (282±63) μmol/L] were all low, and the difference was statistically significant (all P<0.05). Compared with the well-nourished group, hemoglobin [(125±17) g/L vs (136±14) g/L], prealbumin [(0.23±0.05) g/L vs (0.27±0.06) g/L], and uric acid [(227±54) μmol/L vs (312±76) μmol/L] and Retinol binding protein [(33±7) mg/L were lower than (39±10) mg/L] in the malnutrition group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Except for the visceral fat area and body fat percentages, there was no significant difference in body composition indexes and bone mineral density T-value between the malnutrition-risk and malnutrition groups (P<0.05). Compared with the well-nourished group, the body fat [(16±6) kg vs (20±6) kg], the percentage of body fat [(26±9)% vs (29±7)%], the waist-hip ratio [(0.86±0.05) vs (0.89±0.05)], and the upper arm circumference [(29.00±2.59) cm vs (30.74±2.75) cm] in the malnutrition risk group were lower, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). There were statistically significant differences in all body composition indicators and T-values of bone density between the malnourished and well nourished groups (all P<0.05). The MNA score of PD patients was negatively correlated with UPDRS Ⅰ, UPDRS Ⅱ, and UPDRS Ⅳ scores (r=-0.347, -0.364, -0.303, all P<0.05); Body composition indicators: total body water and inorganic salts were negatively correlated with UPDRS-I (r=-0.206, -0.223, all P<0.05), and body fat was negatively correlated with levodopa Equivalent dose (LED) (r=-0.209, P<0.05) Conclusions: The malnutrition risk and incidence of malnutrition in PD patients are high; lymphocyte, uric acid, hemoglobin, Retinol binding protein, body composition and bone mineral density were low in malnutrition group. MNA score of PD patients was negatively correlated with Parkinson's disease symptoms.

HSP90/CDC37 inactivation promotes degradation of LKB1 protein to suppress AMPK signaling in bronchial epithelial cells exposed to sulfur mustard analog, 2-chloroethyl ethyl sulfide. Chem Biol Interact 2023; 382:110643. [PMID: 37481222 DOI: 10.1016/j.cbi.2023.110643] [Citation(s) in RCA: 1] [Impact Index Per Article: 1.0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [MESH Headings] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 11/12/2022] [Revised: 07/11/2023] [Accepted: 07/20/2023] [Indexed: 07/24/2023]
Abstract
To investigate the role of the liver kinase (LK) B1 protein, an activator of AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK), in AMPK signaling suppression when exposed to vesicant, a kind of chemical warfare agent. Cultured human bronchial epithelial cells were inflicted with sulfur mustard (SM) analog, 2-chloroethyl ethyl sulfide (CEES) of 0.2-1.0 mM concentration, and cell proliferation, apoptosis, autophagy, and cellular ATP level were analyzed up to 24 h after the exposure. Focusing on LKB1, heat shock protein (HSP) 90, and cell division cycle (CDC) 37 proteins, the protein expression, phosphorylation, and interaction were examined with western blot, immunofluorescence staining, and/or immunoprecipitation. AMPK signaling was found to be inhibited 24 h after being exposed to either sub-cytotoxic (0.5 mM) or cytotoxic (1.0 mM) concentration of CEES based on MTS assay. Consistently, the degradation of the LKB1 protein and its less interaction with the HSP90/CDC37 complex was confirmed. It was found that 1.0, not 0.5 mM CEES also decreased the CDC37 protein, proteasome activity, and cellular ATP content that modulates HSP90 protein conformation. Inhibiting proteasome activity could alternatively activate autophagy. Finally, either 0.5 or 1.0 mM CEES activated HSP70 and autophagy, and the application of an HSP70 inhibitor blocked autophagy and autophagic degradation of the LKB1 protein. In conclusion, we reported here that AMPK signaling inactivation by CEES was a result of LKB1 protein loss via less protein complex formation and enhanced degradation.

Abstract
Progressive crossed hemiatrophy is an extremely rare clinical type of facial hemiatrophy that presents primarily as unilateral facial atrophy and contralateral trunk or limb involvement. The undistinguishable clinical manifestation and pathological changes complicate diagnosis, especially at the onset of the disease when presenting with less clinical evidence. Here, we report a case of a 9-year-old boy started with left scalp induration, following with subcutaneous tissues atrophy on the right trunk. He was mistaken as panniculitis based on the pathologic findings and treated with topical tacrolimus without any improvement. Immune-related tests were implemented to exclude connective tissues. Imaging examinations such as magnetic resonance was conducted to evaluate the range and degree of the involvement of the skin, soft tissue, and cranial changes. Although no effective treatment to hold back the progress has been reported so far, surgeries might work to restore the appearance to some extent or improve central nerves symptoms if they exist.

Abstract
Primary cutaneous CD4+ small/medium T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder is indolent clinical behaviour and uncertain malignant potential. Histologically, these lesions show a predominance of small to medium-size CD4+ pleomorphic T-cell expressing follicular helper T-cell markers. We report the case of a 59-year-old female who presented with nodules on the left chest for 3 years. Dermatological examination showed four red nodules localized on the left chest with angiotelectasis without tenderness. The histopathological manifestation was consistent with the diagnosis of primary cutaneous CD4+ small/medium T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder. We focus on the clinical appearance, histopathological features, diagnosis, and differential diagnosis of primary cutaneous CD4+ small/medium T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder.

Abstract
Ceramic membranes have been increasingly employed in water treatment owing to their merits such as high-stability, anti-oxidation, long lifespan and environmental friendliness. The application of ceramic membranes mainly focuses on microfiltration and ultrafiltration processes, and some precise separation can be achieved by introducing novel porous materials with superior selectivity. Recently, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have developed a wide spectrum of applications in the fields of the environment, energy, water treatment and gas separation due to the diversity and tunable advantages of metal clusters and organic ligands. Although the issue of water stability in MOF materials inhibits the development of MOF membranes in water treatment, researchers still overcome many obstacles to advance the application of MOF membranes in water treatment processes. To the best of our knowledge, there is still a lack of a reviews on the development process and prospects of ceramic-based MOF membranes for water treatment. Therefore, in this review, we mainly summarize the fabrication method for ceramic-based MOF membranes and their application in water treatment, such as water/salt separation, pollutant separation, heavy metal separation, etc. Following this, based on the high structural, thermal and chemical stability of ceramic substrates, and the high controllability of MOF materials, the superiority and insufficient use of ceramic-based MOF membranes in the field of water treatment are critically discussed.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the effects of biologics on psychological status and quality of life in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted in 42 hospitals in 22 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government) from September 2021 to May 2022. General clinical information and the use of biologics were obtained from adult patients diagnosed with IBD who voluntarily participated in the study. Psychological status was evaluated using the Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD-7), Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), and Inflammatory Bowel Disease Questionnaire (IBDQ) assessment tools. Counts were analyzed via the Chi-square test, and datasets that were not normally distributed were analyzed via nonparametric tests. P<0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: A total of 2 478 valid questionnaires were collected. The GAD-7 score of the biologics group was significantly lower than that of the non-use group [6 (2, 9) vs. 7 (3, 10), Z=-3.49, P<0.001]. IBDQ scores [183 (158, 204) vs. 178 (152, 198), Z=-4.11, P<0.001], intestinal symptom scores [61 (52, 67) vs. 58 (49, 65), Z=-5.41, P<0.001], systemic symptom scores [28 (24, 32) vs. 27 (23, 31), Z=-2.37, P=0.018], emotional ability scores [69 (58, 77) vs. 67 (56, 75), Z=-3.58, P<0.001] and social ability scores [26 (22, 29) vs. 25 (22, 29), Z=-2.52, P=0.012] in the biologics group were significantly higher than in the non-use group. GAD-7 scores [5 (2, 9) vs. 6 (3, 10), Z=-3.50, P<0.001] and PSQI scores [6 (4, 9) vs. 6 (4, 9), Z=-2.55, P=0.011] were significantly lower in the group using infliximab than in the group not using it. IBDQ scores were significantly higher in patients using vedolizumab than in those not using it [186 (159, 205) vs. 181 (155, 201), Z=-2.32, P=0.021] and were also significantly higher in the group treated with adalimumab than in the group not treated with adalimumab [187 (159, 209) vs. 181 (155, 201), Z=-2.16, P=0.030]. However, ustekinumab had no significant effect on any of the scores. Conclusion: The use of biologics is strongly associated with improvements in anxiety status and quality of life in IBD patients.

Abstract
Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection-caused coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a global crisis with no satisfactory therapies. Vitamin D3 (VD3) is considered a potential candidate for COVID-19 treatment; however, little information is available regarding the exact effects of VD3 on SARS-CoV-2 infection and the underlying mechanism. Herein, we confirmed that VD3 reduced SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid (N) protein-caused hyperinflammation in human bronchial epithelial (HBE) cells. Meanwhile, VD3 inhibited the NOD-like receptor family pyrin domain containing 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome activation in N protein-overexpressed HBE (HBE-N) cells. Notably, the inhibitors of caspase-1, NLRP3, and NLRP3 or caspase-1 small interference RNA (siRNA) enhanced VD3-induced NLRP3 inflammasome inactivation, with subsequent suppression of interleukin-6 (IL6) and IL1β release in HBE-N cells, which were abolished by the NLRP3 agonist. Moreover, VD3 increased NLRP3 ubiquitination (Ub-NLRP3) expression and the binding of the VDR with NLRP3, with decreased BRCA1/BRCA2-containing complex subunit 3 (BRCC3) expression and NLRP3-BRCC3 association. VD3-induced Ub-NLRP3 expression, NLRP3 inflammasome inactivation, and hyperinflammation inhibition were improved by the BRCC3 inhibitor or BRCC3 siRNA, which were attenuated by the vitamin D receptor (VDR) antagonist or VDR siRNA in HBE-N cells. Finally, the results of the in vivo study in AAV-Lung-enhanced green fluorescent protein-N-infected lungs were consistent with the findings of the in vitro experiment. In conclusion, VD3 attenuated N protein-caused hyperinflammation by inactivating the NLRP3 inflammasome partially through the VDR-BRCC3 signaling pathway.

Abstract
Using (1.0087±0.0044)×10^{10} J/ψ events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage ring, the process Ξ^{0}n→Ξ^{-}p is studied, where the Ξ^{0} baryon is produced in the process J/ψ→Ξ^{0}Ξ[over ¯]^{0} and the neutron is a component of the ^{9}Be, ^{12}C, and ^{197}Au nuclei in the beam pipe. A clear signal is observed with a statistical significance of 7.1σ. The cross section of the reaction Ξ^{0}+^{9}Be→Ξ^{-}+p+^{8}Be is determined to be σ(Ξ^{0}+^{9}Be→Ξ^{-}+p+^{8}Be)=(22.1±5.3_{stat}±4.5_{sys}) mb at the Ξ^{0} momentum of 0.818 GeV/c, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. No significant H-dibaryon signal is observed in the Ξ^{-}p final state. This is the first study of hyperon-nucleon interactions in electron-positron collisions and opens up a new direction for such research.

Abstract
Based on electron positron collision data collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage rings, the differential cross sections of inclusive π^{0} and K_{S}^{0} production as a function of hadron momentum, normalized by the total cross section of the e^{+}e^{-}→hadrons process, are measured at six center-of-mass energies from 2.2324 to 3.6710 GeV. Our results, which cover a relative hadron energy range from 0.1 to 0.9, significantly deviate from several theoretical calculations based on existing fragmentation functions.

Abstract
Some gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) have a tera-electron volt (TeV) afterglow, but the early onset of this has not been observed. We report observations with the Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory of the bright GRB 221009A, which serendipitously occurred within the instrument field of view. More than 64,000 photons >0.2 TeV were detected within the first 3000 seconds. The TeV flux began several minutes after the GRB trigger, then rose to a peak about 10 seconds later. This was followed by a decay phase, which became more rapid ~650 seconds after the peak. We interpret the emission using a model of a relativistic jet with half-opening angle ~0.8°. This is consistent with the core of a structured jet and could explain the high isotropic energy of this GRB.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Pruritus is identified as an adverse drug reaction to arsenic trioxide, but the association of arsenic exposure with pruritus has not been investigated. METHODS A cross-sectional study was conducted in Shimen, China. A Mendelian randomization analysis was conducted to confirm the causal relationship between genetically predicted percentages of monomethylated arsenic (MMA%) and dimethylated arsenic (DMA%) in urine with chronic pruritus in UK Biobank. A case-control study was then conducted to determine the biomarker for pruritus. Arsenite-treated mice were used to confirm the biomarker, and von Frey test was used to induce scratching bouts. Last, a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial was conducted to test the efficacy of naloxone in arsenic-exposed patients with pruritus in Shimen. RESULTS Hair arsenic (μg/g) showed a dose-response relationship with the intensity of itch in 1079 participants, with odds ratios (OR) of 1.11 for moderate-to-severe itch (p = 0.012). The Mendelian randomization analysis confirmed the causal relationship, with ORs of 1.043 for MMA% (p = 0.029) and 0.904 for DMA% (p = 0.077) above versus under median. Serum β-endorphin was identified as a significant biomarker for the intensity of itch (p < 0.001). Consistently, treatment with arsenite upregulated the level of β-endorphin (p = 0.002) and induced scratching bouts (p < 0.001) in mice. The randomized controlled trial in 126 participants showed that treatment with sublingual naloxone significantly relieved the intensity of itch in arsenic-exposed participants in 2 weeks (β = -0.98, p = 0.04). CONCLUSION Arsenic exposure is associated with pruritus, and β-endorphin serves as a biomarker of pruritus. Naloxone relieves pruritus in patients with arseniasis.

Abstract
Using (10 087±44)×10^{6} J/ψ events collected with the BESIII detector, the radiative hyperon decay Σ^{+}→pγ is studied at an electron-positron collider experiment for the first time. The absolute branching fraction is measured to be (0.996±0.021_{stat}±0.018_{syst})×10^{-3}, which is lower than its world average value by 4.2 standard deviations. Its decay asymmetry parameter is determined to be -0.652±0.056_{stat}±0.020_{syst}. The branching fraction and decay asymmetry parameter are the most precise to date, and the accuracies are improved by 78% and 34%, respectively.

Abstract
Objectives: This study sought to describe our institutional experience of repeated percutaneous stellate ganglion blockade (R-SGB) as a treatment option for drug-refractory electrical storm in patients with nonischemic cardiomyopathy (NICM). Methods: This prospective observational study included 8 consecutive NICM patients who had drug-refractory electrical storm and underwent R-SGB between June 1, 2021 and January 31, 2022. Lidocaine (5 ml, 1%) was injected in the vicinity of the left stellate ganglion under the guidance of ultrasound, once per day for 7 days. Data including clinical characteristics, immediate and long-term outcomes, and procedure related complications were collected. Results: The mean age was (51.5±13.6) years. All patients were male. 5 patients were diagnosed as dilated cardiomyopathy, 2 patients as arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy and 1 patient as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. The left ventricular ejection fraction was 37.8%±6.6%. After the treatment of R-SGB, 6 (75%) patients were free of electrical storm. 24 hours Holter monitoring showed significant reduction in ventricular tachycardia (VT) episodes from 43.0 (13.3, 276.3) to 1.0 (0.3, 34.0) on the first day following R-SGB (P<0.05) and 0.5 (0.0, 19.3) after whole R-SGB process (P<0.05). There were no procedure-related major complications. The mean follow-up was (4.8±1.1) months, and the median time of recurrent VT was 2 months. Conclusion: Minimally invasive R-SGB is a safe and effective method to treat electrical storm in patients with NICM.

Abstract
Campylobacter species are zoonotic pathogens, as well as the prevalent cause of foodborne bacterial gastroenteritis. The spread of antimicrobial-resistant strains poses a serious threat to global public health and attracts attention worldwide, but information about clinical Campylobacter is relatively limited compared to isolates from food and animals. The current study illustrated the prevalence and antimicrobial resistance profiles of Campylobacter jejuni and Campylobacter coli isolates collected from a consecutive surveillance program between 2012 and 2019 in Shanghai, China, using antimicrobial susceptibility testing and whole-genome sequencing. Among the 891 Campylobacter strains (761 C. jejuni and 130 C. coli) isolates collected, high portions above 90% of resistance to ciprofloxacin, nalidixic acid, and tetracycline were observed for both C. jejuni and C. coli. The most common MDR profiles represented by C. jejuni and C. coli were combination of ciprofloxacin, tetracycline, florfenicol and nalidixic acid (5.39%), and azithromycin, ciprofloxacin, erythromycin, gentamicin, tetracycline, clindamycin, nalidixic acid (28.46%), respectively. The erythromycin resistance of C. coli (59.23%) is higher than C. jejuni (2.50%). A total of 76 erythromycin resistant isolates (16 C. jejuni and 60 C. coli) were sequenced using Illumina platform for determining the genotypes, antimicrobial resistance patterns and phylogeny analysis. Multilocus sequence typing (MLST) analysis showed a high genetic diversity with 47 sequence types (STs), including 4 novel alleles and 12 new STs. The most abundant clonal complexes (CCs) were CC-403 (31.25%) and CC-828 (88.33%) for C. jejuni and C. coli, respectively. Among the 76 erythromycin-resistant isolates, mutation A2075G in 23S rRNA and erm(B) gene were detected in 53.95 and 39.47%, respectively. The erm(B) gene was identified exclusively in 30 C. coli isolates. All these erm(B) positive isolates were multi-drug resistant. Furthermore, comparison of the erm(B)-carrying isolates of multiple sources worldwide demonstrated the possibility of zoonotic transmission of erm(B) in Campylobacter. These findings highlight the importance of continuous surveillance of erythromycin resistance dissemination in Campylobacter which may compromise the effectiveness of antimicrobial therapy.

Collarless Polished Tapered Stems of Identical Shape Provide Differing Outcomes for Stainless Steel and Cobalt Chrome: A Biomechanical Study. J Funct Biomater 2023; 14:jfb14050262. Abstract
Cemented polished tapered femoral stems (PTS) made of cobalt-chrome alloy (CoCr) are a known risk factor for periprosthetic fracture (PPF). The mechanical differences between CoCr-PTS and stainless-steel (SUS) PTS were investigated. CoCr stems having the same shape and surface roughness as the SUS Exeter® stem were manufactured and dynamic loading tests were performed on three each. Stem subsidence and the compressive force at the bone-cement interface were recorded. Tantalum balls were injected into the cement, and their movement was tracked to indicate cement movement. Stem motions in the cement were greater for the CoCr stems than for the SUS stems. In addition, although we found a significant positive correlation between stem subsidence and compressive force in all stems, CoCr stems generated a compressive force over three times higher than SUS stems at the bone-cement interface with the same stem subsidence (p < 0.01). The final stem subsidence amount and final force were greater in the CoCr group (p < 0.01), and the ratio of tantalum ball vertical distance to stem subsidence was significantly smaller for CoCr than for SUS (p < 0.01). CoCr stems appear to move more easily in cement than SUS stems, which might contribute to the increased occurrence of PPF with the use of CoCr-PTS.

Domination of an emerging erythromycin-resistant ptxP3 Bordetella pertussis clone in Shanghai, China. Int J Antimicrob Agents 2023:106835. [PMID: 37127126 DOI: 10.1016/j.ijantimicag.2023.106835] [Citation(s) in RCA: 2] [Impact Index Per Article: 2.0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 02/02/2023] [Revised: 04/20/2023] [Accepted: 04/26/2023] [Indexed: 05/03/2023]
Abstract
Pertussis cases have been increasing since 2014 in China, with high prevalence of macrolide-resistance in the ptxP1 but rare in the ptxP3 isolates. This study aimed to investigated the dynamic changes of the B. pertussis population from pediatric patients and household contacts in Shanghai during 2018-2022. Clinical data of the laboratory-confirmed pertussis cases were analyzed, while isolates recovered from hospitalized children and household contacts were characterized by antimicrobial susceptibility testing, whole genome sequencing, vaccine antigen gene typing, and phylogenetical analysis. Among 640 laboratory-confirmed pertussis cases, 340 (53.1%) had full vaccination of DTaP and 114 (17.8%) were hospitalized for treatment. The erythromycin-resistance frequency in the 103 B. pertussis isolates from inpatients (n=73) and household contacts (n=30) was 78.6% (81/103), increasing from 65% (13/20) in 2018 to 100% (26/26) in 2022. The proportion of ptxP3 isolates increased from 35% (7/20) in 2018 to 100% (26/26) in 2022. Based on the genomic analysis, a novel ptxP3 clone (MT28-Shanghai) belonging to the sub-lineage IVd was discovered and dominated in 2021-2022, which was characterized with ptxP3, erythromycin-resistance, and prn150. Twelve (11.7%) predicted PRN-deficient isolates were found from ptxP3 (n=9) and ptxP1 (n=3). A complete shift from ptxP1 to ptxP3 in Shanghai, China, which might be accelerated by the domination of a novel erythromycin-resistant MT28 clone, challenges the currently used pertussis vaccines in China.

Measurements of the Electric and Magnetic Form Factors of the Neutron for Timelike Momentum Transfer. PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2023; 130:151905. Abstract
We present the first measurements of the electric and magnetic form factors of the neutron in the timelike (positive q^{2}) region as function of four-momentum transfer. We explored the differential cross sections of the reaction e^{+}e^{-}→n[over ¯]n with data collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII accelerator, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 354.6 pb^{-1} in total at twelve center-of-mass energies between sqrt[s]=2.0-2.95 GeV. A relative uncertainty of 18% and 12% for the electric and magnetic form factors, respectively, is achieved at sqrt[s]=2.3935 GeV. Our results are comparable in accuracy to those from electron scattering in the comparable spacelike region of four-momentum transfer. The electromagnetic form factor ratio R_{em}≡|G_{E}|/|G_{M}| is within the uncertainties close to unity. We compare our result on |G_{E}| and |G_{M}| to recent model predictions, and the measurements in the spacelike region to test the analyticity of electromagnetic form factors.

Observation of a New X(3872) Production Process e^{+}e^{-}→ωX(3872). PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS 2023; 130:151904. Abstract
Using 4.7 fb^{-1} of e^{+}e^{-} collision data at center-of-mass energies from 4.661 to 4.951 GeV collected by the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, we observe the X(3872) production process e^{+}e^{-}→ωX(3872) for the first time. The significance is 7.8σ, including both the statistical and systematic uncertainties. The e^{+}e^{-}→ωX(3872) Born cross section and the corresponding upper limit at 90% confidence level at each energy point are reported. The line shape of the cross section indicates that the ωX(3872) signals may be from the decays of some nontrivial structures.

Isolation and Characterization of Targeting-HBsAg VNAR Single Domain Antibodies from Whitespotted Bamboo Sharks ( Chiloscyllium plagiosum). Mar Drugs 2023; 21:md21040237. Abstract
Immunoglobulin new antigen receptor (IgNAR) is a naturally occurring antibody that consists of only two heavy chains with two independent variable domains. The variable binding domain of IgNAR, called variable new antigen receptor (VNAR), is attractive due to its solubility, thermal stability, and small size. Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) is a viral capsid protein found on the surface of the Hepatitis B virus (HBV). It appears in the blood of an individual infected with HBV and is widely used as a diagnostic marker for HBV infection. In this study, the whitespotted bamboo sharks (Chiloscyllium plagiosum) were immunized with the recombinant HBsAg protein. Peripheral blood leukocytes (PBLs) of immunized bamboo sharks were further isolated and used to construct a VNAR-targeted HBsAg phage display library. The 20 specific VNARs against HBsAg were then isolated by bio-panning and phage ELISA. The 50% of maximal effect (EC50) of three nanobodies, including HB14, HB17, and HB18, were 4.864 nM, 4.260 nM, and 8.979 nM, respectively. The Sandwich ELISA assay further showed that these three nanobodies interacted with different epitopes of HBsAg protein. When taken together, our results provide a new possibility for the application of VNAR in HBV diagnosis and also demonstrate the feasibility of using VNAR for medical testing.
