Abstract
Decachlorobiphenyl (PCB-209) can be widely detected in suspended particles and sediments due to its large hydrophobicity, and some of its transformation products may potentially threaten organisms through the food chain. Here we investigate the photochemical transformation of PCB-209 on suspended particles from the Yellow River. It was found that the suspended particles had an obvious shielding effect to largely inhibit the photodegradation of PCB-209. Meanwhile, the presence of inorganic ions (e.g. Mg2+ and NO3-) and organic matters (e.g. humic acid, HA) in the Yellow River water inhibited the reaction. The main transformation products of PCB-209 were lower-chlorinated and hydroxylated polychlorinated biphenyls (OH-PCBs), and small amounts of pentachlorophenol (PCP) and polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDFs) were also observed. The mechanisms of PCP formation by double •OH attacking carbon bridge and PCDFs formation by elimination reaction of ionic state OH-PCBs were proposed using theoretical calculations, which provided some new insights into the inter-transformations between persistent organic pollutants. In combination with VEGA and EPI Suite software, some intermediates such as PCDFs were more toxic to organisms than PCB-209. This study deepens the understanding of the transformation behavior of PCB-209 on suspended particles under sunlight.

Abstract
Soil contamination of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), especially caused by the mixture of two or more PAHs, raised great environmental concerns. However, research on the migration and transformation processes of PAHs in soils and their interactions with native communities is limited. In this work, soil samples from uncontaminated sites around the industrial parks in Handan, Hengshui, and Shanghai were artificially supplemented with three concentrations of anthracene (Ant), 9-chloroanthracene (9-ClAnt), benzopyrene (BaP), and chrysene (Chr). Ryegrass was planted to investigate the degradation of PAHs and its interaction with native soil organisms in the constructed ryegrass-microbe-soil microcosmic system. The bacterial and fungal communities in soil were affected by PAHs; their species diversity and relative abundance changed after exposure to different concentrations of PAHs, among which Lysobacter, Bacillus, Pseudomonas, and Massilia bacteria were correlated to the degradation of PAHs. On the 56th day, the contents of BaP, Chr, and Ant decreased with the degradation process, while the degradation of 9-ClAnt was limited. Nineteen intermediates, including hydroxylation and carboxylated compounds, were identified. The present research would help clarify the potential interactions between PAHs and native organisms in contaminated sites, providing fundamental information for evaluating the transformation risks of PAHs in the natural environment.

Abstract
Developing efficient and low-cost photocatalytic materials is essential for removing polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). In this work, the photodegradation process of fourteen representative polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in both water/nitrogen-doped SiO2 (N-SiO2) and air/N-SiO2 systems was studied. The photodegradation kinetics of PCBs is consistent with the pseudo-first-order kinetic equation. The variation in the degradation effects of different PCBs in the two systems is primarily related to the position of the Cl substituent and the effective absorption wavelength range of PCBs. A total of fourteen intermediates for 4'-Dichlorobiphenyl (PCB-15), 2,2',4,4',6,6'-Hexachlorobiphenyl (PCB-155), and 2,2',3,3',4,4',5,5',6,6'-Decachlorobiphenyl (PCB-209) generated from four reaction pathways were identified based on both mass spectrometry analysis and theoretical calculations. Using the values of lnk (k denotes pseudo-first-order kinetic constants) for the 11 PCBs in the training set and the calculated molecular and structural parameters, quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) models for the two systems were constructed by using multiple linear regression (MLR) method to better understand the factors affecting the photodegradation rate of PCBs. The QSAR equations were obtained with Cl atom substitution at position 3 (N3) as the main parameter, which were lnk = -1.98 - 0.19 N3 for the water/N-SiO2 system and lnk = -1.56 - 0.34 N3 for the air/N-SiO2 system, with the correlation coefficient (R2) of 0.66 and 0.73, leave-one-out cross-validation (Q2LOO) of 0.51 and 0.59, respectively, and bootstrapping validation coefficients (Q2BOOT) values of both 0.74, confirming that the models were well fitted and showed high robustness and prediction ability. This study provides valuable insights into photocatalytic degradation studies of PCBs.

Abstract
Considering that waste incineration fly ash is the main carrier of dioxins and can migrate over long distances in the atmosphere, it is of great significance to study the photochemical transformation behavior of dioxins on the surface of fly ash. In this work, 2-chlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (2-CDD) was selected to conduct a systematic photochemical study. The influence of various factors on the photodegradation of 2-CDD were first explored, and the results showed that small particle size of fly ash, low concentration of 2-CDD and appropriate level of humidity were more conducive to photodegradation, with the highest degradation percentage reaching 76%-84%. The components of fly ash (Zn (Ⅱ), Al (Ⅲ), Cu (Ⅱ) and SiO2) also had a certain promoting effect on the degradation of 2-CDD, which increases the degradation efficiency by 10%-20%, because they could act as effective photocatalysts to produce free radicals for reaction. With a higher total light exposure intensity, natural light environments led to a more complete degradation of 2-CDD than laboratory Xe lamp irradiation (90% degradation Vs. 79% degradation). Based on chemical probe and radical quenching experiment, hydroxyl radical also contributed to 2-CDD photodegradation on fly ash. A total of 16 intermediate products were detected by mass spectrometry analysis, and four initial reaction pathways of 2-CDD were speculated in the process, including dechlorination, ether bond cleavage, hydroxyl substitution, and hydroxyl addition. According to the results of density functional theory calculation, the reaction channels of ether bond cleavage and •OH attack were determined. The toxicity assessment software tool (TEST) was used to assess the toxicity and bioconcentration coefficient of reaction products, and it was found that the overall toxicity of the photodegradation products was reduced. This study would provide new insights into the environmental fate of dioxins during long-range atmospheric migration process.

Abstract
AIM To determine whether net water uptake (NWU) based on automated software evaluation could predict futile recanalisation in patients with acute anterior circulation large-vessel occlusion (LVO). MATERIALS AND METHODS Patients with acute anterior circulation LVO undergoing mechanical thrombectomy in Jinling Hospital were evaluated retrospectively. NWU and other baseline data were evaluated by performing univariate and multivariate analyses. The primary endpoint was 90-day modified Rankin scale score ≥3. A nomogram to predict poor clinical outcomes was developed based on multivariate logistic regression analysis. RESULTS Overall, 135 patients who underwent thrombectomy with a TICI grade ≥2b were enrolled. In multivariate logistic regression analysis, the following factors were identified as independent predictors of futile recanalisation: age (odds ratio [OR]: 1.055, 95 % confidence interval [CI]: 1.004-1.110, p=0.035), female (OR: 0.289, 95 % CI: 0.098-0.850, p=0.024), hypertension (OR: 3.182, 95 % CI: 1.160-8.728, p=0.025), high blood glucose level (OR: 1.36, 95 % CI: 1.087-1.701, p=0.007), admission National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale score (OR: 1.082, 95 % CI: 1.003-1.168, p=0.043), and NWU (OR: 1.312, 95 % CI: 1.038-1.659, p=0.023). CONCLUSIONS NWU based on Alberta Stroke Program Early Computed Tomography (CT) Score (ASPECTS) could be used to predict the occurrence of futile recanalisation in patients with acute anterior circulation LVO ischaemic stroke.

Abstract
Objective: To analyze the status of respiratory pathogen detection and the clinical features in children with Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia (MPP). Methods: A prospective, multicenter study was conducted to collect clinical data, including medical history, laboratory examinations and multiplex PCR tests of children diagnosed with MPP from 4 hospitals in China between November 15th and December 20th, 2023. The multiplex PCR results and clinical characteristics of MPP children in different regions were analyzed. The children were divided into severe and mild groups according to the severity of the disease. Patients in the severe group were further divided into Mycoplasma pneumoniae (MP) alone and Multi-pathogen co-detection groups based on whether other pathogens were detected besides MP, to analyze the influence of respiratory pathogen co-detection rate on the severity of the disease. Mann-Whitney rank sum test and Chi-square test were used to compare data between independent groups. Results: A total of 298 children, 136 males and 162 females, were enrolled in this study, including 204 children in the severe group with an onset age of 7.0 (6.0, 8.0) years, and 94 children in the mild group with an onset age of 6.5 (4.0, 7.8) years. The level of C-reactive protein, D-dimer, lactic dehydrogenase (LDH) were significantly higher (10.0 (5.0, 18.0) vs. 5.0 (5.0, 7.5) mg/L, 0.6 (0.4, 1.1) vs. 0.5 (0.3, 0.6) mg/L, 337 (286, 431) vs. 314 (271, 393) U/L, Z=2.02, 2.50, 3.05, all P<0.05), and the length of hospitalization was significantly longer in the severe group compared with those in mild group (6.0 (6.0, 7.0) vs. 5.0 (4.0, 6.0) d, Z=4.37, P<0.05). The time from onset to admission in severe MPP children was significantly shorter than that in mild MPP children (6.0 (5.0, 9.5) vs. 9.0 (7.0, 13.0) d, Z=2.23, P=0.026). All patients completed the multiplex PCR test, with 142 cases (47.7%) MPP children detected with 21 pathogens including adenovirus 25 cases (8.4%), human coronavirus 23 cases (7.7%), rhinovirus 21 cases (7.0%), Streptococcus pneumoniae 21 cases (7.0%), influenza A virus 18 cases (6.0%). The pathogens with the highest detection rates in Tianjin, Shanghai, Wenzhou and Chengdu were Staphylococcus aureus at 10.7% (8/75), adenovirus at 13.0% (10/77), adenovirus at 15.3% (9/59), and both rhinovirus and Haemophilus influenzae at 11.5% (10/87) each. The multi-pathogen co-detection rate in severe MPP children was significantly higher than that in mild MPP group (52.9% (108/204) vs. 36.2% (34/94), χ²=10.62,P=0.005). Among severe MPP children, there are 89 cases in the multi-pathogen co-detection group and 73 cases in the simple MPP group. The levels of LDH, D-dimer and neutrophil counts in the multi-pathogen co-detection group were significantly higher than those in the simple MPP group (348 (284, 422) vs. 307 (270, 358) U/L, 0.8 (0.5, 1.5) vs. 0.6 (0.4, 1.0) mg/L, 4.99 (3.66, 6.89)×109 vs. 4.06 (2.91, 5.65)×109/L, Z=5.17, 4.99, 6.11, all P<0.05). Conclusions: The co-detection rate of respiratory pathogens, LDH and D-dimer in children with severe MPP were higher than those with mild MPP. Among severe MPP children the stress response of children in co-detection group was more serious than that of children with simple MPP.

Abstract
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) have attracted much attention because of their widespread existence and toxicity. Photodegradation is the main natural decay process of PAHs in soil. The photodegradation kinetics of benzopyrene (BaP) on 16 kinds of soils and 10 kinds of PAHs on Hebei (HE) soil were studied. The results showed that BaP had the highest degradation rate in Shaanxi (SN) soil (kobs = 0.11 min-1), and anthracene (Ant) was almost completely degraded after 16 h of irradiation in HE soil. Two quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) models were established by the multiple linear regression (MLR) method. The developed QSAR models have good stability, robustness and predictability. The model revealed that the main factors affecting the photodegradation of PAHs are soil organic matter (SOM) and the energy gap between the highest occupied molecular orbital and the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (Egap). SOM can function as a photosensitizer to induce the production of active species for photodegradation, thus favoring the photodegradation of PAHs. In addition, compounds with lower Egap are less stable and more reactive, and thus are more prone to photodegradation. Finally, the QSAR model was optimized using machine learning approach. The results of this study provide basic information on the photodegradation of PAHs and have important significance for predicting the environmental behavior of PAHs in soil.

Abstract
A new mechanism for the electro-oxidation (EO) degradation of perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) by Pt anode was reported. Using bridge-based ligand anions (SCN-, Cl- and N3-) as electrolytes, the degradation effect of PFOA by Pt-EO system was significant. Characterization of the Pt anode, the detection and addition of dissolved platinum ions, and the comparison of Pt with DSA anodes determined that the Pt- ligand complexes resulting from the specific binding of anodically dissolved PtII with ligand ions and C7F15COO- ((C7F15-COO)PtII-L3, L = SCN-, Cl- and N3-) on the electrode surface played a decisive role in the degradation of PFOA. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations showed that inside (C7F15-COO)PtII-L3 complexes, the electron density of the perfluorocarbon chain (including the F atom) compensated toward the carboxyl group and electrons in the PFOA ion transferred to the PtII-Cl3. Moreover, the (C7F15-COO)PtII-Cl3, as a whole, was calculated to migrate electrons toward the Pt anode, leading to the formation of PFOA radical (C7F15-COO•). Finally, with the detection of a series of short chain homologues, the CF2-unzipping degradation pathway of PFOA was proposed. The newly developed Pt-EO system is not affected by water quality conditions and can directly degrade alcohol eluent of PFOA, which has great potential for treating industrial wastewater contaminated with PFOA.

Abstract
Photocoupled permanganate (PM) is an effective way to enhance the oxidation efficiency of PM, however, the activation of PM by infrared has received little attention. This study aimed to investigate the ability of infrared light to activate PM. When coupled with infrared, the degradation rate of 4-chlorophenol (4-CP) is increased to 3.54 times of PM oxidation alone. The accelerated reaction was due to the formation of vibrationally excited PM by absorbing 3.1 kJ mol-1 infrared energy, which also leads to the primary reactive intermediates Mn(V/IV) in the reaction system. The infrared coupled PM system also showed 1.14-2.34 times promotion effect on other organic pollutants. Furthermore, solar composed of 45% infrared, coupled PM system showed excellent degradation performance, where the degradation of 4-CP in 10 L of tap water and river water was 68 and 23 times faster than in ultrapure water, respectively. The faster-increased degradation rate in natural waters is mainly due to the abundant inorganic ions, which can stabilize the manganese species, and then has a positive effect on 4-CP degradation. In summary, this work develops a energy-efficient photoactivated PM technology that utilizes infrared and provides new insights into the design of novel sunlight-powered oxidation processes for water treatment.

Abstract
Oil spills are a global environmental protection challenge, and traditional adsorption materials have poor effect on low temperature and high viscosity marine oil spills. This article reports composite adsorption materials TDA/rGO@WS for viscous oil spills: loaded with rGO/TDA coating on a commercial biomass wood pulp sponge (WS), achieving Joule heating, photothermal effect and hydrophobic modification. The results showed that the TDA/rGO@WS has good photothermal conversion ability and Joule heating ability, and the temperature increased to 83.7 °C and 148 °C, respectively, under simulated solar irradiation and additional voltage at room temperature. The efficiency of adsorption at a low temperature of 5 °C increased by 22.41% at 1 sun and by 51.53% at 10 V. Temperature effectively reduced the viscosity of the offshore oil spill and ensures the efficient adsorption of oil spills at low temperatures promoted. The TDA/rGO@WS also showed good hydrophobicity (WCA=129°), excellent efficiency of water-oil separation (99.53%) and good adsorption capacity (9.4-13.68 g/g) for marine fuel oils. TDA/rGO@WS effectively solves the problem of cleaning up high-viscosity oil spills from ships in winter and polar waters, and proposes a new strategy for all-weather efficient treatment of oil spills at sea.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the concern about pollen broadcasting in Chinese population from multiple dimensions and to understand the information about allergic rhinitis (AR) in China by analyzing related factors. Methods: From March 1 to September 30, 2022, a large-scale multi-center cross-sectional survey was conducted based on the Questionnaire Star platform in 21 Chinese hospitals. A total of 7 056 subjects from 7 regions in China: Northeast, North, East, Central, South, Southwest, and Northwest China were included. Basic characteristics (including social demographic characteristics and disease characteristics of AR patients), concern about pollen broadcasting, the willingness of pollen-induced AR (PiAR) patients to receive pollen broadcasting, and the treatment satisfaction rate of AR patients were collected. The chi-square test, multivariate linear regression model, and Logistic regression analysis were used to analyze the concern about pollen broadcasting in the Chinese population and related factors from multiple dimensions. Results: Among 7 056 subjects, 23.02% were concerned about pollen broadcasting. Among 3 176 self-reported AR and 1 019 PiAR patients, 25.60% and 39.16% were concerned about pollen broadcasting, respectively, which was higher than that of non-AR or non-PiAR subjects (χ2 value was 21.74 and 175.11, respectively, both P<0.001). Among AR patients, the proportion of spring and autumn allergen-positive patients concerned about pollen broadcasting was higher than that in perennial allergen-positive patients (χ2 value was 20.90 and 19.51, respectively, both P<0.001). The proportion of AR patients with asthma, sinusitis, allergic conjunctivitis, and cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases was higher than those without complications (χ2 value was 50.83, 21.97, 56.78, 7.62, respectively, all P<0.05). The proportion of AR patients in North China who could find pollen broadcasting locally was 31.01%, significantly higher than those in other regions (all P<0.05). Multivariate linear regression model analysis showed that among PiAR patients, those with higher per capita household income and higher AR disease cognition levels had been concerned about pollen broadcasting in the past, and those complicated with allergic conjunctivitis had stronger intention to receive pollen broadcasting (B value was 0.24, 0.13, 0.66, 0.47, respectively, all P<0.05). The higher the disease cognition level of PiAR patients, the stronger their willingness to actively participate in treatment (R2=0.72, P<0.001). Only 18.89% of AR patients felt satisfied with the treatment effect. Logistic regression analysis showed that in AR patients, the treatment satisfaction rate was significantly higher among those concerned about pollen broadcasting compared to those who were not (OR=1.83, P<0.001). Conclusions: Currently, the dissemination of pollen broadcasting in China is hindered by various factors such as disease cognition level. The treatment satisfaction among AR patients remains unsatisfactory.

Abstract
In this study, TiO2 nanospheres prepared by the sol-gel method were found to efficiently catalyze the photodegradation of 1-butyl-2,3-dimethylimidazolium bromide salt ([BMMIm]Br) under simulated solar irradiation through the main attack of hydroxyl radicals (•OH). The promoting effect of alkali metal (Li+→Cs+) and alkaline earth metal ions (Mg2+→Ba2+) was particularly emphasized. In-situ EPR tests showed that the introduction of alkali and alkaline earth metal ions could enhance the formation of •OH thus leading to a 7%-30.3% increase in the degradation efficiency of. [BMMIm]+. Moreover, the removal efficiency of [BMMIm]+ still reached > 96.19% in four real waters. A total of 23 products of [BMMIm]Br were detected, and hydroxyl substitution, bond breaking, direct oxidation and ring opening were considered as the main reactions during the photocatalytic degradation process. The results of toxicity evaluation showed that hydroxylation was a reaction process of increasing toxicity, while the bond breaking reaction had great detoxification capacity for [BMMIm]+. These findings may enhance our understanding on the effects of alkali or alkaline earth metal ions on the photocatalytic activity of TiO2, which could also provide reference for the efficient and green removal of alkylimidazolium ionic liquids in waters.

Abstract
Objective This study aimed to analyze the diagnostic efficacy of serum biomarkers in liver cirrhosis patients categorized by Child-Pugh scores. Methods An observational cross-sectional study design was employed. A total of 110 liver cirrhosis patients, classified according to Child-Pugh scores and 60 healthy individuals were included in this study. Serum levels of adenosine deaminase (ADA), adiponectin (APN), matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) were measured. Results The levels of ADA, APN, MMP-2, ALP, ALT, and AST were significantly higher in the study group compared to the control group (P < .05). Furthermore, these levels increased with the severity of liver cirrhosis, with higher levels observed in patients with Child-Pugh class C. The positive diagnostic rates for joint detection in Child-Pugh class A, B, and C were 93.75% (30/32), 100% (34/34), and 100% (44/44), respectively. Conclusions Combined detection of serum biomarkers improves the diagnostic efficacy of liver cirrhosis. The diagnostic rates were higher when considering Child-Pugh scores, with the highest rates observed in class C.

Abstract
Objectives: Membranous nephropathy (MN) and minimal change disease (MCD) are two common types of nephrotic syndrome that have similar clinical presentations but require different treatment strategies. Currently, the definitive diagnosis for these conditions relies on invasive renal biopsy, which can be limited in clinical practice.Methods: In this study, we aimed to differentiate idiopathic MN (IMN) from MCD using clinical data and gut microbiota. We collected clinical data and stool samples from 115 healthy individuals, 115 IMN, and 45 MCD at the onset of disease and performed 16S rRNA sequencing. Through machine learning methods including random forest, logistic regression, and support vector machine, a classifier to differentiate IMN from MCD was constructed.Results: Baseline clinical data comparing the IMN and MCD groups showed that the MCD had higher levels of hemoglobin, uric acid, cystatin C, β2-microglobulin, α1-microglobulin, total cholesterol, and low-density lipoprotein and lower levels of albumin and CD4+ T-cell counts. The gut microbiota of the two groups differed at all levels of the phylum and genus. Differential gut microbiota may disturb the integrity of the intestinal wall and lead to the passage of inflammatory mediators through the intestinal barrier, causing kidney injury. We constructed a noninvasive classifier with a discrimination efficacy of 0.939 that combined the clinical data and gut microbiota information to identify IMN and MCD.Conclusions: The classifier of the gut microbiota combined with clinical indicators has achieved good performance in identifying IMN and MCD, which provides a new approach for the noninvasive discrimination of different pathological types of kidney disease.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES The aim of this article was to explore the association between adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and the Charlson comorbidity index (CCI) and to provide valuable information for public health professionals and policymakers to improve quality of life and reduce mortality. STUDY DESIGN A cross-sectional analysis was conducted using data pooled from the 2020 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS). METHODS This study involved 102,393 US adult participants from the 2020 BRFSS. The zero-inflated negative binomial (ZINB) and mixed graphical model (MGM) models were used to explore the effect of ACEs on CCI and the interaction between ACEs. RESULTS In the count part of the model (CCI ≥0), sexual abuse had the strongest association with CCI (relative risk [RR] = 1.111, P < 0.001). In the logit part of the model (CCI = 0), the likelihood of having CCI equal to 0 decreased by 23.0% for household substance abuse, which was the highest percentage decrease for all ACEs. Compared to those with ACE scores equal to 0, individuals with ACE scores ≥4 have an expected CCI RR of 1.222, and the likelihood of having CCI equal to 0 decreased by 50.2%. Household substance abuse and incarceration history in the home had the strongest association among interactions of ACEs (0.85). CONCLUSIONS Associations between ACEs and CCI were observed in this study, and these associations differed between genders. The findings of this study provide data to design strategies for disease prevention and improvement of quality of life.

Abstract
Objective: To detect the cell-free DNA of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Cf-TB) in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) of patients with tuberculous meningitis (TBM), and to assess the diagnostic value of this method for TBM. Methods: We prospectively included patients with suspected meningitis from the Department of Tuberculosis, Beijing Chest Hospital, Department of Neurology, Beijing Chaoyang Hospital and Department of Neurology, 263 Hospital of the People's Liberation Army from September 2019 to March 2022. A total of 189 patients were included in this study. Among them, 116 were male and 73 were female, aged from 7 to 85 years, with an average of (38.5±19.1) years. The CSF specimens of the patients were collected for Cf-TB, MTB culture and Xpert MTB/RIF. SPSS 20.0 was used for statistical analysis and the difference was statistically significant with P<0.05. Results: Among the 189 patients, there were 127 patients in the TBM group and 62 patients in the non-TBM group. The sensitivity of Cf-TB was 50.4% (95%CI 41.4%-59.3%), the specificity was 100% (95%CI 92.7%-100.0%), the positive predictive value was 100% (95%CI 92.9%-100.0%), and the negative predictive value was 49.6% (95%CI 40.6%-58.6%). Using clinical diagnosis as the gold standard, the sensitivity of Cf-TB was 50.4% (64/127), which was significantly higher than that of MTB culture (8.7%, 11/127) and Xpert MTB/RIF (15.7%,20/127) (all P<0.001). Using etiology as the gold standard, the sensitivity of Cf-TB was 72.7% (24/33), which was significantly higher than that of MTB culture [33.3%, 11/33, (χ2=10.28, P=0.001)] and was similar to Xpert MTB/RIF (60.6%, 20/33) (χ2=1.091, P=0.296). Conclusion: The sensitivity of the Cf-TB test was significantly higher than that of CSF MTB culture and Xpert MTB/RIF. Cf-TB may provide evidence for earlier diagnosis and treatment of TBM.

Abstract
Background Diabetic kidney disease (DKD), as a serious microvascular complication of diabetes, has limted treatment options. It is reported that the Sacubitril/Valsartan (Sac/Val) can improve kidney function, and the disordered gut microbiota and part of its metabolites are related to the development of DKD. Therefore, we aim to explore whether the effect of Sac/Val on DKD is associated with the gut microbiota and related plasma metabolic profiles. Methods Male C57BL/6J mice were randomly divided into 3 groups: Con group (n = 5), DKD group (n = 6), and Sac/Val group (n = 6) . Sac/Val group was treated with Sac/Val solution. The intervention was given once every 2 days for 6 weeks. We measured the blood glucose and urine protein level of mice at different times. We then collected samples at the end of experiment for the 16s rRNA gene sequencing analysis and the untargeted plasma metabonomic analysis. Results We found that the plasma creatinine concentration of DKD-group mice was significantly higher than that of Con-group mice, whereas it was reduced after the Sac/Val treatment. Compared with DKD mice, Sac/Val treatment could decrease the expression of indicators related to EndMT and renal fibrosis like vimentin, collagen IV and fibronectin in kidney. According to the criteria of LDA ≥ 2.5 and p<0.05, LefSe analysis of gut microbiota identified 13 biomarkers in Con group, and 33 biomarkers in DKD group, mainly including Prevotella, Escherichia_Shigella and Christensenellaceae_R_7_group, etc. For the Sac/Val group, there were 21 biomarkers, such as Bacteroides, Rikenellaceae_RC9_gut_group, Parabacteroides, Lactobacillus, etc. Plasma metabolomics analysis identified a total of 648 metabolites, and 167 important differential metabolites were screened among groups. KEGG pathway of tryptophan metabolism: M and bile secretion: OS had the highest significance of enrichment. Conclusions Sac/Val improves the renal function of DKD mice by inhibiting renal fibrosis. This drug can also regulate gut microbiota in DKD mice.

Abstract
Juglans mandshurica has strong freezing resistance, surviving temperatures as low as -40 °C, making it an important freeze tolerant germplasm resource of the genus Juglans. APETALA2/ethylene responsive factor (AP2/ERF) is a plant-specific superfamily of transcription factors that regulates plant development, growth, and the response to biotic and abiotic stress. In this study, phylogenetic analysis was used to identify 184 AP2/ERF genes in the J. mandshurica genome, which were classified into five subfamilies (JmAP2, JmRAV, JmSoloist, JmDREB, and JmERF). A significant amount of discordance was observed in the 184 AP2/ERF genes distribution of J. mandshurica throughout its 16 chromosomes. Duplication was found in 14 tandem and 122 segmental gene pairs, which indicated that duplications may be the main reason for JmAP2/ERF family expansion. Gene structural analysis revealed that 64 JmAP2/ERF genes contained introns. Gene evolution analysis among Juglandaceae revealed that J. mandshurica is separated by 14.23 and 15 Mya from Juglans regia and Carya cathayensis, respectively. Based on promoter analysis in J. mandshurica, many cis-acting elements were discovered that are related to light, hormones, tissues, and stress response processes. Proteins that may contribute to cold resistance were selected for further analysis and were used to construct a cold regulatory network based on GO annotation and JmAP2/ERF protein interaction network analysis. Expression profiling using qRT-PCR showed that 14 JmAP2/ERF genes were involved in cold resistance, and that seven and five genes were significantly upregulated under cold stress in female flower buds and phloem tissues, respectively. This study provides new light on the role of the JmAP2/ERF gene in cold stress response, paving the way for further functional validation of JmAP2/ERF TFs and their application in the genetic improvement of Juglans and other tree species.

Abstract
With the improvement of people's living standards and rapid economic development, the incidence of diabetes mellitus (DM) is increasing in most parts of the world. DM presents an important potential threat to human health. In the present study, a model of diabetes in female mice was established, and fasting blood glucose was detected at week 4, after which the biochemical profiles were evaluated by histopathological analysis. The success rate of modeling in the normal control (NC) group and the low/ middle/high-dose streptozotocin (STZ) group were 0, 0, 25% and 60%, respectively. In the middle-dose and high-dose STZ groups, the liver index was increased significantly compared with the NC group (p⟨0.05). The blood biochemical indicators of total cholesterol and low density lipoprotein cholesterol in three STZ injection groups were as follows: alanine aminotransferase and aspartate transaminase in middle- and high-dose STZ groups, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol and serum creatinine in the high-dose STZ group, and blood urea nitrogen in the middle-dose STZ group were significantly increased (p⟨0.05). The level of total triglycerides was lower, obviously, in the high-dose STZ group than in the NC group (p⟨0.05). The mice showed marked steatosis, green-dyed fiber tissue coloring in varying degrees, and the contour of the hepatic lobules basically disappeared in STZ injection groups. The results suggest that to establish a diabetes model for female ICR mice, the optimum dose of STZ is 100 mg/kg.

Abstract
As a class of emerging aquatic pollutants, alkylimidazole-based ionic liquids (AM-ILs) have received extensive attention due to the large acute toxicity to aquatic organisms. Therefore, in order to protect both aquatic organisms and human beings, it is necessary to seek an efficient and environmental-friendly technology for removal of AM-ILs from water bodies. In this work, we found that under simulated sunlight (Xe lamp) irradiation, periodate (KIO4, PI) could efficiently degrade 1-hexyl-2,3-dimethylimidazolium bromide ([HMMIm]Br), a representative AM-ILs with six carbon atoms in the side chain. Kinetics experiments on the degradation of [HMMIm]Br were performed, and the results showed that a high degradation efficiency (≥90.00%) of the cation ([HMMIm]+) was still maintained under harsh water conditions of strong acidity/alkaliny or with various non-target inorganic ions. More importantly, the anion of bromide ion (Br-) was not oxidized to the carcinogenic bromate (BrO3-) in current reaction system. The excited stated PI (marked as PI*) was detected by Laser flash photolysis, and it was an important reactive species for [HMMIm]+ degradation. As rationalized by theoretical calculations and scavenging experiments, the main oxidation mechanisms of [HMMIm]+ were hydroxyl radicals induced substitution reaction, PI* initiated electron and double oxygen transfer, and direct photolysis mediated chemical bond cleavage reaction, which contributed to 73%, 21%, and 6% of [HMMIm]+ degradation, respectively. Moreover, toxicity evaluation by ECOSAR software indicated that the oxidation products were generally less toxic to three aquatic organisms (fish, water flea, and green algae) than the target molecule [HMMIm]Br. In conclusion, this work proposed novel oxidation mechanisms of sunlight-activated PI system, and the findings may inspire further researches on the application of photoactivated hypervalent acids in water purification.

Gut Microbiome Analysis Can Be Used as a Noninvasive Diagnostic Tool and Plays an Essential Role in the Onset of Membranous Nephropathy. Abstract
Membranous nephropathy (MN) is a common cause of nephrotic syndrome. The aim is to establish a non-invasive diagnostic model of MN using differential gut microbiome analysis, and to explore the relationship between the gut microbiome and MN pathogenesis in vivo. 825 fecal samples from MN patients and healthy participants are collected from multiple medical centers across China. Key operational taxonomic units (OTUs) obtained through 16S rRNA sequencing are used to establish a diagnostic model. A rat model of MN is developed to explore the relationship between the gut microbiome and the pathogenesis of MN. The diversity and richness of the gut microbiome are significantly lower in patients with MN than in healthy individuals. The diagnostic model based on seven OTUs achieves an excellent efficiency of 98.36% in the training group and also achieves high efficiency in cross-regional cohorts. In MN rat model, gut microbiome elimination prevents model establishment, but fecal microbiome transplantation restores the phenotype of protein urine. Gut microbiome analysis can be used as a non-invasive tool for MN diagnosis. The onset of MN depends on the presence of naturally colonized microbiome. Early intervention in the gut microbiome may help reduce urinary protein level in MN.

Abstract
Loss of podocyte is a characteristic pathological change of diabetic nephropathy (DN) which is associated with increased proteinuria. Many studies have shown that novel inhibitors of sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2-is), such as dapagliflozin, exert nephroprotective effect on delaying DN progression. However, the mechanisms underlying SGLT2-associated podocyte injury are still not fully elucidated. Here, we generated streptozotocin-induced DN models and treated them with dapagliflozin to explore the possible mechanisms underlying SGLT2 regulation. Compared to mice with DN, dapagliflozin-treated mice exhibited remission of pathological lesions, including glomerular sclerosis, thickening of the glomerular basement membrane (GBM), podocyte injury in the glomeruli, and decreased nephrotoxin levels accompanied by decreased SGLT2 expression. The mRNA expression profiles of these treated mice revealed the significance of the insulin-like growth factor-1 receptor (IGF1R)/PI3K regulatory axis in glomerular injury. KEGG analysis confirmed that the phosphatidylinositol signaling system and insulin signaling pathway were enriched. Western blotting showed that SGLT2-is inhibited the increase of mesenchymal markers (α-SMA, SNAI-1, and ZEB2) and the loss of podocyte markers (nephrin and E-cad). Additionally, SGLT2, IGF1R, phosphorylated PI3K, α-SMA, SNAI-1, and ZEB2 protein levels were increased in high glucose-stimulated human podocytes (HPC) and significantly decreased in dapagliflozin-treated (50 nM and 100 nM) or OSI-906-treated (inhibitor of IGF1R, 60 nM) groups. However, the use of both inhibitors did not enhance this protective effect. Next, we analyzed urine and plasma samples from a cohort consisting of 13 healthy people and 19 DN patients who were administered with (n = 9) or without (n = 10) SGLT2 inhibitors. ELISA results showed decreased circulating levels of IGF1 and IGF2 in SGLT2-is-treated DN patients compared with DN patients. Taken together, our study reported the key role of SGLT2/IGF1R/PI3K signaling in regulating podocyte epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). Modulating IGF1R expression may be a novel approach for DN therapy.

Abstract
This study was undertaken for the development of novel techniques that are based on immunoneutralization of inhibin bioactivity to improve Holstein cow fertility. A series of 4 experiments were carried out on 2 farms that were located in subtropical or temperate regions, to test the effects of immunization against inhibin alpha subunit on cow fertility under varying degrees of heat stress conditions. Though immunization against inhibin alone improved conception rate (CR) after TAI moderately in cows under mild heat stress conditions, the treatment plus progesterone supplementation substantially enhanced CR in the range of 25 to 35 percentages from severe heat stress to comfortable weather conditions. There existed an additive effect between immunization against inhibin and progesterone supplementation that maximally enhanced CR. Further, immunization against inhibin increased both FSH and activin A concentrations in blood during both follicular and luteal phases. It also significantly increased blood concentrations of E2 in the follicular phase but decreased P4 concentrations during the early pregnancy. However, interferon-tau concentrations in blood around the time of pregnancy recognition were doubled in the inhibin immunized cows. In conclusion, immunization against inhibin plus P4 treatment enhances ovarian follicle and the subsequent early embryo developments that help to greatly improve the fertility of Holstein dairy cows.

Abstract
The widespread use of polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) inevitably leads to their occurrence in the atmosphere, soil, and sediment. Biomass, especially dry branches and fallen leaves, may act a large reservoir for PBDEs through atmospheric deposition or soil bioaccumulation. Thus, clarifying the sunlight-induced transformation behaviors of PBDEs on biomass is highly significant for our understanding on its natural self-purification process. In this work, the degradation kinetics and mechanisms of two common PBDEs congeners, decabromodiphenyl ether (BDE-209) and 2,2',4,4'-tetrabromodiphenyl ether (BDE-47), on biomass were systematically studied under natural and simulated sunlight irradiation conditions. The highest photodegradation rate constant of BDE-209 and BDE-47 was observed on sour cherry (SC) and zoysia matrella (ZM), respectively, which was related to their larger light receiving area and poor crystallinity. Due to the higher apparent quantum efficiency, BDE-209 degrades faster than BDE-47 (0.063-0.223 vs 0.006-0.026 h-1). The sunlight self-purification cycle of BDE-209 and BDE-47 on biomass were 6 and 14 days, respectively, with the corresponding sunlight contribution in the range of 0.12-0.51 ng mW-1. Products analysis by GC-MS and HPLC-MS/MS revealed that the main reactions involved in the photodegradation of BDE-209 and BDE-47 on biomass were debromination, hydroxylation, cyclization, and C-O bond breaking reaction. Especially, it was firstly proposed that hydroxyl H in lignin from biomass participated in the formation of primary products, which were rationalized by density functional theory (DFT) calculations and control experiments.

Abstract
Populus alba × Populus glandulosa (84K poplar) is model material with excellent genetic engineering resource and ornamental value. In our study, AmRosea1 (Antirrhinum majus) was overexpressed in 84K poplar, and the transgenic 84K (AM) poplar with high content of anthocyanin exhibited red pigmentation leaves. The transcriptome analysis between wild type (WT) and AM showed that 170 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) (86 up-regulated and 84 down-regulated) were found, and some DEGs were involved in flavone and flavonol biosynthesis, flavonoid biosynthesis and anthocyanin biosynthesis. The metabolome analysis showed that 13 anthocyanins-related differentially accumulated metabolites (DAMs) were detected in AM. The correlation analysis between DEGs and DAMs were performed, and the results revealed that 18 DEGs, including 11 MYB genes, two BZ1 genes, one FG2 gene, one ANS gene, and three IF7MAT genes, were negatively or positively correlated with 13 DAMs. The phylogenetic analysis demonstrated that there was high homology between AmRosea1 and PagMYB113, and MYB113 co-expressed with BZ1, ANS and DFR directly. Our results elucidated the molecular mechanism of plant color change mediated by anthocyanin biosynthesis pathway, which laid the foundation for the development and utilization of colorful woody plant.

Abstract
Acer pseudosieboldianum (Pax) Komarov is an ornamental plant with prominent potential and is naturally distributed in Northeast China. Here, we obtained a chromosome-scale genome assembly of A. pseudosieboldianum combining HiFi and Hi-C data, and the final assembled genome size was 690.24 Mb and consisted of 287 contigs, with a contig N50 value of 5.7 Mb and a BUSCO complete gene percentage of 98.4%. Genome evolution analysis showed that an ancient duplication occurred in A. pseudosieboldianum. Phylogenetic analyses revealed that Aceraceae family could be incorporated into Sapindaceae, consistent with the present Angiosperm Phylogeny Group system. We further construct a gene-to-metabolite correlation network and identified key genes and metabolites that might be involved in anthocyanin biosynthesis pathways during leaf color change. Additionally, we identified crucial teosinte branched1, cycloidea, and proliferating cell factors (TCP) transcription factors that might be involved in leaf morphology regulation of A. pseudosieboldianum, Acer yangbiense and Acer truncatum. Overall, this reference genome is a valuable resource for evolutionary history studies of A. pseudosieboldianum and lays a fundamental foundation for its molecular breeding.

Abstract
Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disease closely related to a disordered gut microbiome. Diabetic patients usually suffer from various metabolic disorders, such as increased serum uric acid levels. Although serum uric acid levels depend partially on intestine excretion, the relationship between uric acid and gut microbiome in diabetic patients remains unknown. We collected a total of 126 fecal samples from diabetic patients for 16S ribosomal RNA gene amplicon sequencing and recorded clinical data. We analyzed the correlation between clinical indicators and gut microbiota of diabetic patients using Spearman analysis. Since uric acid was the most prominent one, we classified diabetic patients based on their uric acid levels to find the microbiome associated with uric acid disturbance. We constructed Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway profiles using Phylogenetic Investigation of Communities by Reconstruction of Unobserved States (PICRUSt) to identify variations between the different groups. Among all the clinical indicators, uric acid had the strongest correlation with gut microbiota. First, we divided the patients into three groups according to their uric acid levels. The two low uric acid groups were similar, while the elevated uric acid group had significant differences in gut microbiota and metabolic pathways. The elevated uric acid group had a significantly lower gut microbiota diversity. At the genus level, this group had remarkably higher Escherichia–Shigella amounts and notably lower Faecalibacterium, Oscillospiraceae_UCG−002, and Oscillospiraceae_UCG−005 amounts. The gut microbiota of the high uric acid group was predicted to be enriched in metabolism, human diseases, and lipopolysaccharide biosynthesis. Since the two low uric acid groups were similar, we regrouped and matched the abnormal uric acid patients with normal uric acid patients. The differences in gut microbiota and metabolic pathways related to nucleotide metabolism became more significant. The serum uric acid levels were associated with gut microbiome changes. This might be related to uric acid metabolism by gut microbes. Our study indicates that targeting the gut microbiome could help manage elevated uric acid levels.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) is one of the most prevalent complications of diabetes mellitus (DM) and is associated with gut microbial dysbiosis. We aim to build a diagnostic model to aid clinical practice and uncover a crucial harmful microbial community that contributes to DKD pathogenesis and exacerbation. DESIGN A total of 528 fecal samples from 180 DKD patients and 348 non-DKD populations (138 DM and 210 healthy volunteers) from the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University were recruited and randomly divided into a discovery phase and a validation phase. The gut microbial composition was compared using 16S rRNA sequencing. Then, the 180 DKD patients were stratified into four groups based on clinical stages and underwent gut microbiota analysis. We established DKD mouse models and a healthy fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) model to validate the effects of gut microbiota on DKD and select the potential harmful microbial community. Untargeted metabolome-microbiome combined analysis of mouse models helps decipher the pathogenetic mechanism from a metabolic perspective. RESULTS The diversity of the gut microbiome was significantly decreased in DKD patients when compared with that of the non-DKD population and was increased in the patients with more advanced DKD stages. The DKD severity in mice was relieved after healthy gut microbiota reconstruction. The common harmful microbial community was accumulated in the subjects with more severe DKD phenotypes (i.e., DKD and DKD5 patients and DKD mice). The harmful microbial community was positively associated with the serum injurious metabolites (e.g., cholic acid and hippuric acid). CONCLUSION The fecal microbial community was altered markedly in DKD. Combining the fecal analysis of both human and animal models selected the accumulated harmful pathogens. Partially recovering healthy gut microbiota can relieve DKD phenotypes via influencing pathogens' effect on DKD mice's metabolism.

Abstract
Grateloupia Livida polysaccharides-functionalized selenium nanoparticles (GLP-SeNPs) have been successfully prepared in a simple redox system of sodium selenite and ascorbic acid. The size, morphology, structure, stability and thermal behavior were analyzed by various characterization methods. These results showed that, GLP-SeNPs (particle size of 115.54 nm) prepared in optimal synthesis conditions (temperature of 45 °C, reaction time of 3 h, GLP concentration of 1.0 mg/mL and ascorbic acid concentration of 0.04 M) obtained by orthogonal experiments were uniform spherical and could be stable for 30 days at 4 °C. GLP-SeNPs exhibited significant scavenging ability on DPPH, ABTS, hydroxyl radical and superoxide anion radical when compared to GLP and Na2SeO3. GLP-SeNPs showed selective cytotoxicity toward various human cancer cells, but not normal cells. Besides, GLP-SeNPs exhibited low oral acute toxicity. Taken together, GLP-SeNPs might be used as potential diet nutritional supplement or anticancer agent.

Abstract
Objective: To prepare the modified hyaluronic acid viscous hydrogel loaded with sliver particles and to explore the roles and mechanism of the hydrogel in healing of full-thickness skin defect wounds with bacterial colonization in mice. Methods: The experimental research method was adopted. Dopamine modified hyaluronic acid (HA-DA) and phenylboric acid modified hyaluronic acid (HA-PBA) were prepared, and their characteristic peaks were detected by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy. Different mass of acrylamides was added to HA-DA and HA-PBA to prepare the viscous hydrogel with mass fraction of acrylamide in 10%, 15%, and 20%. The gelation of the viscous hydrogel with mass fraction of acrylamide in 20% was observed in the state of tilt and inversion at 37 ℃, and the storage modulus and loss modulus of the above 3 kinds of viscous hydrogels were detected by rotational rheometer. The sliver-loaded viscous hydrogel was prepared by adding nano silver ions to the viscous hydrogel with mass fraction of acrylamide in 20%. The concentration of silver ions released by sliver-loaded viscous hydrogel was measured by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer, and the cumulative release rate of silver ion was calculated (n=5). The mouse fibroblasts L929 were divided into phosphate buffered saline (PBS) group, viscous hydrogel group, and sliver-loaded viscous hydrogel group, which were dealt correspondingly, and the cell survival was detected by cell counting kit 8 method after 1, 2, and 3 d of culture (n=5). Twenty-four male C57BL/6 mice aged 6-8 weeks were selected, and forty-eight full-thickness skin defect wounds were inflicted and inoculated with the mixture of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus in the back of the mice, with two wounds in each mouse. The wounds were divided into normal saline group, viscous hydrogel group, and sliver-loaded viscous hydrogel group, which were dealt correspondingly, with 16 wounds in each group, and two wounds in each mouse were divided into different groups. On post injury day (PID) 3, 7, 10, and 14, the wound healing was observed and the wound healing rate was calculated. On PID 3, the colony forming units of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus in wounds were observed and counted. On PID 14, the epithelized epidermal thickness and the optical density of collagen fiber in wounds were observed and analyzed after hematoxylin eosin staining and Masson staining, respectively. On PID 3, 7, and 10, the expressions of tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α), transforming growth factor β1 (TGF-β1), and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) were detected by immunohistochemistry. The number of wounds in each index detecting at each time point was four. Data were statistically analyzed with analysis of variance for factorial design, one-way analysis of variance, and Bonferroni correction. Results: The characteristic peaks of HA-PBA were detected at the wave numbers of 1 369 and 1 425 cm-1, indicating that phenylboric acid had been successfully grafted on hyaluronic acid, and the characteristic peaks of HA-DA were detected at the wave numbers of 1 516 and 1 431 cm-1, indicating that dopamine had been successfully grafted on hyaluronic acid. The viscous hydrogel with mass fraction of acrylamide in 20% maintained the stable and no-flow condition of gelation in the state of tilt and inversion at 37 ℃. The storage modulus and loss modulus of the viscous hydrogel increased with the increase of acrylamide content, the storage modulus and loss modulus of the 3 kinds of viscous hydrogels had no obvious changes with the increase of the oscillation frequency or time, and the storage modulus of the 3 kinds of acrylamide hydrogels were greater than the loss modulus. The release of silver ion in the sliver-loaded viscous hydrogel lasted for 7 days, and the cumulative release rate of silver ion was up to 65%. After 1, 2, and 3 d of culture, the cell survival rates in sliver-loaded viscous hydrogel group were significantly lower than those in PBS group and viscous hydrogel group (P<0.05 or P<0.01), while after 1 d of culture, the cell survival rate in viscous hydrogel group was significantly lower than that in PBS group (P<0.01). With extension of time after injury, the wounds of mice in the 3 groups shrank gradually. On PID 3, 7, 10, and 14, the wound healing rates in sliver-loaded viscous hydrogel group were (53.0±3.6)%, (75.3±6.9)%, (93.3±1.2)%, and (96.7±0.8)%, which were significantly higher than (21.8±6.4)%, (53.9±8.2)%, (72.0±7.8)%, and (92.5±0.4)% in normal saline group (P<0.01). On PID 3 and 14, the wound healing rates in sliver-loaded viscous hydrogel group were significantly higher than (43.5±2.4)% and (94.1±1.5)% in viscous hydrogel group (P<0.05). On PID 3 and 10, the wound healing rates in viscous hydrogel group were significantly higher than those in normal saline group (P<0.01). On PID 3, the colony forming units of two bacteria in wound of sliver-loaded viscous hydrogel group were significantly less than those in normal saline group and viscous hydrogel group (P<0.01), while the colony forming units of two bacteria in wound of viscous hydrogel group were significantly less than those in normal saline group (P<0.05). On PID 14, the wounds were basically epithelialized and the epidermis was thicker, with collagen protein content being increased significantly and more orderly arranged collagen in sliver-loaded viscous hydrogel group compared with those in the other 2 groups. On PID 14, the epidermal thickness in wounds of sliver-loaded viscous hydrogel group was significantly increased compared with that in the other two groups (P<0.05), and the optical density of collagen fiber was significantly increased compared with those in normal saline group (P<0.05). On PID 3, the expressions of TGF-β1 and VEGF in wounds of sliver-loaded viscous hydrogel group were significantly higher than those in normal saline group (P<0.05 or P<0.01), while the expression of VEGF in wounds of viscous hydrogel group was significantly higher than that in normal saline group (P<0.01). On PID 7, the expression of TGF-β1 in wounds of sliver-loaded viscous hydrogel group was significantly higher than that in the other 2 groups (P<0.01), and the expression of VEGF was significantly higher than that in normal saline group (P<0.01). On PID 10, the expression of TNF-α in wounds of sliver-loaded viscous hydrogel group was significantly lower than that in normal saline group (P<0.05), the expressions of TGF-β1 and VEGF in wounds of sliver-loaded viscous hydrogel group were significantly higher than those in normal saline group (P<0.05 or P<0.01), and the expression of VEGF in wounds of sliver-loaded viscous hydrogel group was significantly higher than that in viscous hydrogel group (P<0.05). Conclusions: The sliver-loaded viscous hydrogel prepared in this study has good stability and elasticity, which can continuously release silver ions and help to accelerate the healing of full-thickness defect wounds with bacterial colonization in mice. Besides, the sliver-loaded viscous hydrogel has low biological toxicity and can promote re-epithelialization, collagen deposition as well as angiogenesis of wounds, which may be related to the infiltration and regression of inflammatory cells.

Abstract
Chemical reactivity, kinetics, degradation pathways and mechanisms, and ecotoxicity of the oxidation of 1-vinyl-3-ethylimidazolium bromide ([VEIm]Br), the most common alternative to organic solvents, by Fe(VI) (HFeO4-) were studied by lab experiments and theoretical calculations. Results show that Fe(VI) can efficiently remove VEIm through the dioxygen transfer-hydrolysis mechanism, which has not been reported yet. The reactivity of VEIm toward Fe(VI) mainly depends on the double bonds in the side chain of VEIm. The second-order rate constant for VEIm was 629.45 M-1 s-1 at pH 7.0 and 25 °C. Typical water constituents, except for SO32-, Cl-, and Cu2+, had no obvious effects on the oxidation. The oxidation products were determined by high-performance liquid chromatography hybrid quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry, which proves that there were interactions between the oxidation intermediates of the anion and cation parts of [VEIm]Br during the degradation process. The structures of related products and oxidation mechanisms were further rationalized by theoretical calculations. The ecotoxicity of products from the three oxidation pathways all showed a trend of increase after the initial decrease. We hope that the findings of this work can give researchers some new inspirations on Fe(VI) degradation of other alkene-containing contaminants.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study was to illustrate the role of NAA10 in aggravating the malignant progression of renal cell carcinoma (RCC) by upregulating UPK1B. PATIENTS AND METHODS NAA10 levels in RCC tissues and paracancerous tissues were detected. Thereafter, the potential relationship between NAA10 level and clinical parameters of RCC patients was analyzed. After knockdown of NAA10, changes in proliferative potential of 786-O and Caki-1 cells were examined by cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8), colony formation and 5-Ethynyl-2'-deoxyuridine (EdU) assay. Finally, the regulatory role of NAA10 in the downstream gene UPK1B and the involvement of UPK1B in the development of RCC were determined via rescue experiments. RESULTS NAA10 was upregulated in RCC tissues than paracancerous tissues. Tumor staging was much worse in RCC patients expressing a higher level of NAA10. Knockdown of NAA10 inhibited proliferative potential and downregulated UPK1B in RCC cells. Besides, NAA10 level was identified to be positively linked to UPK1B level in RCC tissues. At last, overexpression of UPK1B was able to abolish the inhibitory effect of silenced NAA10 on RCC proliferation. CONCLUSIONS NAA10 level is closely linked to tumor staging and poor prognosis in RCC patients. NAA10 aggravates the malignant progression of RCC by upregulating UPK1B and may be a specific biomarker in RCC.

Abstract
Diabetic glomerulopathy (DG) remains the prevalent microvascular complication and leading cause of shortened lifespan in type-2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) despite improvement in hyperglycemia control. Considering the pivotal role of kidney in metabolism, using untargeted metabolomic techniques to globally delineate the serum metabolite profiles will help advance understanding pathogenetic underpinnings of renal biopsy-confirmed DG from the perspective of metabolism specifically. Fourteen pathologically diagnosed DG patients secondary to T2DM and 14 age- and gender-matched healthy controls (HCs) were recruited for study. We employed mass spectrometry-based untargeted metabolomic methods to reveal the metabolite profiles of serum samples collected from all included subjects. We identified a total of 334 and 397 metabolites in positive and negative ion mode respectively. One hundred and eighty-two important differential metabolites whose variable importance in projection (VIP) > 1 and p value <0.05 were selected and annotated to metabolic pathways. KEGG pathway enrichment analysis revealed tryptophan metabolism enriched most significantly. Among the tryptophan derivatives, L-tryptophan (L-Trp) and serotonin were relatively accumulated in DGs compared with HCs, while 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid (5-HIAA) and indole-3-acetamide were depleted. Correlation analysis showed serotonin and L-Trp are negatively correlated with 24 h urine protein and glycosylated hemoglobin (Ghb). To exclude the interference of preexisting T2DM on DG exacerbation, we selected 5-HIAA and 3-(3-hydroxyphenyl) propionic acid (3-OHPPA) which are not correlated with Ghb and analyzed their correlation relationship with crucial renal indices. We found 3-OHPPA is positively correlated with urine total protein and creatinine ratio (T/Cr) and 24 h urine protein, 5-HIAA is positively correlated with serum creatinine and urea.
