Modulation of Electronic Synergy to Enhance the Intrinsic Activity of Fe5Ni4S8 Nanosheets in Restricted Space Carbonized Wood Frameworks for Efficient Oxygen Evolution Reaction

Modulation of electronic structure and composition is widely recognized as an effective strategy to improve electrocatalyst performance. Herein, using a simple simultaneous carbonization and sulfidation strategy, NiFe double hydroxide-derived Fe5Ni4S8 (FNS) nanosheets immobilized on S-doped carbonized wood (SCW) framework by taking benefit of the orientation-constrained cavity and hierarchical porous structure of wood is proposed. Benefiting from the synergistic relationships between bimetal ions, the spatial confinement offered by the wood cavity, and the enhanced structural effects of the nanosheets array, the FNS/SCW exhibit enhanced intrinsic activity, increased accessibility of catalytically active sites, and convection-facilitated mass transport, resulting in an excellent oxygen evolution reaction (OER) activity and durability. Specifically, it takes a low overpotential of 230 mV at 50 mA cm-2 and potential increase is negligible (3.8%) at 50 mA cm-2 for 80 hours. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations further reveal that the synergistic effect of bimetal can optimize the electronic structure and lower the reaction energy barrier. The FNS/SCW used as the cathode of zinc-air battery shows higher power density and excellent durability relative to commercial RuO2, exhibiting a good application prospect. Overall, this research offers proposals for designing and producing effective OER electrocatalysts using sustainable resources.

The Progress of Small Molecule Targeting BCR-ABL in the Treatment of Chronic Myeloid Leukemia

Chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) is a malignant myeloproliferative disease. According to the American Cancer Society's 2021 cancer data report, new cases of CML account for about 15% of all leukemias. CML is generally divided into three stages: chronic phase, accelerated phase, and blast phase. Nearly 90% of patients are diagnosed as a chronic phase. Allogeneic stem cell transplantation and chemotherapeutic drugs, such as interferon IFN-α were used as the earliest treatments for CML. However, they could generate obvious side effects, and scientists had to seek new treatments for CML. A new era of targeted therapy for CML began with the introduction of imatinib, the first-generation BCR-ABL kinase inhibitor. However, the ensuing drug resistance and mutant strains led by T315I limited the further use of imatinib. With the continuous advancement of research, tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKI) and BCR-ABL protein degraders with novel structures and therapeutic mechanisms have been discovered. From biological macromolecules to classical target protein inhibitors, a growing number of compounds are being developed to treat chronic myelogenous leukemia. In this review, we focus on summarizing the current situation of a series of candidate small-molecule drugs in CML therapy, including TKIs and BCR-ABL protein degrader. The examples provided herein describe the pharmacology activity of small-molecule drugs. These drugs will provide new enlightenment for future treatment directions.

Temporally and spatially resolved molecular profiling in fingerprint analysis using indium vanadate nanosheets-assisted laser desorption ionization mass spectrometry

This study presents the first-ever synthesis of samarium-doped indium vanadate nanosheets (IVONSs:Sm) via microemulsion-mediated solvothermal method. The nanosheets were subsequently utilized as a nano-matrix in laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry (LDI-MS). It was discovered that the as-synthesized IVONSs:Sm possessed the following advantages: improved mass spectrometry signal, minimal matrix-related background, and exceptional stability in negative-ion mode. These qualities overcame the limitations of conventional matrices and enabled the sensitive detection of small biomolecules such as fatty acids. The negative-ion LDI mechanism of IVONSs:Sm was examined through the implementation of density functional theory simulation. Using IVONSs:Sm-assisted LDI-MS, fingerprint recognitions based on morphology and chemical profiles of endogenous/exogenous compounds were also achieved. Notably, crucial characteristics such as the age of an individual's fingerprints and their physical state could be assessed through the longitudinal monitoring of particular biomolecules (e.g., ascorbic acid, fatty acid) or the specific biomarker bilirubin glucuronide. Critical information pertinent to the identification of an individual would thus be facilitated by the analysis of the compounds underlying the fingerprint patterns.

Micro-nano oxygenated irrigation improves the yield and quality of greenhouse cucumbers under-film drip irrigation

To study the influence mechanism of micro-nano oxygenated irrigation (MNOI) on greenhouse fruit cucumber in arid and semi-arid cold regions, the yield and quality of greenhouse fruit cucumber were evaluated and verified based on 2 years of observation data. Taking fruit cucumber in Ningxia solar greenhouse as the research object, three dissolved oxygen (DO) levels of MNOI (DO; 6, 7.5, and 9 mg L-1, O1, O2, and O3, respectively) and non-oxygenated irrigation (CK, 4 mg L-1) were set up as the control treatment. Through comparative design, the influence mechanism of different levels of aerobic irrigation on the yield and quality of greenhouse fruit cucumber was studied. The main indicators of fruit cucumber yield and quality increased with dissolved oxygen in irrigation water from 4 to 9 mg L-1. In spring-summer (autumn-winter), compared with CK, the leaf area index (LAI) and net photosynthetic rate (A) increased by 28.83% (28.77%) and 44.90% (35.00%), respectively, and Vitamin C, soluble protein, soluble sugar, soluble solids and total acid content increased by 100.00% (51.88%), 37.78% (61.11%), 34.17% (54.17%), 37.07% (78.72%) and 26.92% (30.67%) respectively, while nitrate content decreased by 44.88% (51.15%), and dry matter accumulation (DMA), soil respiration rate (SRR), microbial carbon (MC), and microbial nitrogen (MN) increased by 49.81% (127.25%), 55.22% (110.34%), 117.50% (90.91%) and 70.37% (74.42%) respectively, and yield, irrigation water use efficiency (IWUE) and soil oxygen content (SO) increased by 22.47% (28.04%), 22.39% (28.05%) and 33.21% (35.33%) respectively. A model of DO in irrigation water and SO was established and the applicability of the model was verified with an average relative error of 2% (less than 5%). MNOI increased SO and soil enzyme activity, enriched soil microorganisms, improved soil microenvironment, promoted water nutrient uptake and growth of root system, increased chlorophyll, photosynthesis and DMA, which improved fruit cucumber yield and quality, and the better DO concentration in irrigation water is 9 mg L-1. The research results provide theoretical support for regulating soil water, fertilizer and air environment, and at the same time, provide feasible ways to improve the quality and efficiency of crops in arid and semi-arid cold regions.

Numerical Strength Analysis of Laser-Welded Differential Housing and Gear Considering Residual Stress

In order to avoid slackening of differential housing and gear joined by bolts, the laser-welding process is proposed in this paper, and the strength of a connecting joint was estimated by numerical analysis with consideration of welding residual stress. The process parameters of laser welding for dissimilar materials QT600 cast iron and 20MnCr5 structural alloy steel were introduced, and chemical composition analysis and microstructure analysis were conducted on the welded joints. The finite element model of laser-welded differential housing and gear was established to obtain the welding residual stress by applying a moving heat source. To verify the accuracy of the simulated result, static pressing tests were employed. The maximum tensile residual stress was 319.4 MPa, located at the same point as the maximum temperature. The simulated stress agreed well with the experimental data. Finally, the dynamic strength of laser-welded differential housing and gear under forward, reverse, and start-up conditions was assessed by regarding welding residual stress as the initial stress field, which showed that all safety factors were greater than 1.4.

Carbon emission intensity embodied in trade and its driving factors from the perspective of global value chain

As a global problem, climate warming has received widespread attention recently. With trade development and labor division deepening, there exist large differences in carbon emission intensity (CEI) embodied in different trade patterns. Assessing environmental costs of different trade patterns is the core issue for policy makers. We decompose the overall CEI embodied in trade into CEI embodied in final goods trade, domestic trade, traditional intermediate trade, and global value chain trade. Using global multi-region input-output table provided by the WIOD database, we calculate the CEI embodied in different trade patterns during 1995-2014. Further, we analyze the influencing factors of CEI embodied in different trade patterns. We find that CEI embodied in domestic trade is lower than that of international trade. All kinds of embodied CEI in developing countries are higher than that in developed countries. Furthermore, the driving factors of the overall embodied CEI, including domestic trade and international trade, are population, PGDP, energy intensity, and trade. The expansion of industrialization can effectively reduce the CEI embodied in trade of developing countries. The increase of PGDP and industrialization can effectively reduce the CEI embodied in trade related to global value chain and traditional intermediate trade, while only the increase of PGDP can effectively reduce the CEI embodied in domestic trade and final goods trade. Population can reduce the embodied CEI in trade related to global value chain and traditional intermediate trade of developed countries. Economic development can almost promote the reduction of the CEI embodied in all trade patterns. Although industrialization has insignificant impact on the CEI embodied in final goods trade of the developed countries, it can reduce such CEI of developing countries.

T-2 Toxin Exposure Induces Apoptosis in TM3 Cells by Inhibiting Mammalian Target of Rapamycin/Serine/Threonine Protein Kinase(mTORC2/AKT) to Promote Ca2+Production

Although mTOR (the mammalian target of rapamycin) can regulate intracellular free Ca2+concentration in normal cultured podocytes, it remains elusive as to how mTORC2/AKT-mediated Ca2+participates in the process of T-2 toxin-induced apoptosis. The potential signaling responsible for intracellular Ca2+ concentration changes was investigated using immunoblot assays in an in vitro model of TM3 cell injury induced by T-2 toxin. Changes in Ca2+ were assessed using the Ca2+-sensitive fluorescent indictor dye Fura 2-AM. The cytotoxicity of TM3 cells was assessed with an MTT bioassay, and apoptosis was measured using Annexin V-FITC staining. Following T-2 toxin treatment, the growth of cells, phospho-mTORSer2481, phospho-mTORSer2448, and phospho-AktSer473 were significantly decreased in a time-dependent manner, whereas Ca2+ and apoptosis were increased. T-2 toxin-induced apoptosis was prevented by BAPTA-AM (a Ca2+chelator) and MHY1485 (an mTOR activator), and the application of mTOR activator MHY1485 also prevented the increase of intracellular free Ca2+concentration in TM3 cells. Our results strongly suggest that T-2 toxin exposure induces apoptosis in TM3 cells by inhibiting mTORC2/AKT to promote Ca2+ production.
